It is time for our NFC predictions,

2:05which will include the NFC East, winner and three wild cards out of the NFC's out of the NFC, including the Northwest and South. Yesterday, Max and I both had different AFC title game matchups and different AFC champions. I had Kansas City over Houston. The Chief's going to the Super Bowl and Max had Denver over Buffalo and the Broncos going to the Super Bowl. All right. I'll start off. We'll save the East for last. I'll start off with the NFC North. I mean, I mentioned earlier in the show, seven of the eight division winners last year were not favored to win the division. Only one preseason 2025 division favorite won the division. That was Philadelphia. And of the other seven, five weren't even supposed to be close to winning the division. So picking favorites, picking teams that are even in the top two

3:08or three can be dangerous in the NFL year to year. Green Bay is not the favorite in the NFC North. Detroit is followed by kind of Chicago and Green Bay. I'm picking the Packers to win the NFC North. Look, they don't have Michael Parsons to start the season, but they'll get them back at some point. They don't have Josh Jacobs. The running back position worries me right now in Green Bay. And Josh Jacobs is a situation if you haven't been following it. It's a domestic situation. And there are reports out there that there might be a video, which whether he is, he's got a court hearing this week, whether or not he ends up going to jail or not, he could certainly be suspended by the NFL for conduct detrimental. We'll see. I'm not counting on Josh Jacobs. He's a really good back. I'm a big Josh Jacobs fan as a football player. Let me be clear on that. I don't know him as a person. I just like Jordan Loveman and I like that defense.

4:09And I like that coaching staff. I like the Packers to be there at the end as the NFC North champs. They were so close last year, they should have beaten Chicago in the postseason. They should have beaten Chicago in that season finale at soldier field when Jordan Love got hurt and Malik Willis came in and made a bunch of money by playing well in that game. I'm going Green Bay in the NFC North in a very competitive division with Detroit and Chicago. I'm not a Minnesota fan because I'm not a Kyler Murray guy. If Kyler Murray ends up playing great this year, Kevin O'Connell, you should never even consider moving on from Kevin O'Connell because he can coach up offense in quarterbacks. But I'm going Green Bay in the North, Max. Who do you have? I am also going with the Green Bay Packers. I just, they're going to figure it out. I think they're doing running back by committee to fill Josh Jacobs void at the moment.

5:09Now you don't have Michael Parsons, but I think that defense is going to get things right heading into this year. So give me the Packers. You know, the running back is I was looking at this. I mean, there are not a lot of options. They, they signed that Caleb Johnson who played at Pittsburgh last year and was the Iowa running back from two years ago. I actually like him. He didn't get a big opportunity last year because they, you know, Jalen Warren was a good back for them. And, you know, what's his face who was with Philadelphia before Pittsburgh last couple of years? They want to run the football Jordan love is better when you've got a running game. I just like Jordan love. I think that we're going to see the best at him. I think we'll see the best out of Matthew Golden. We started to see it at the end of last year into the postseason game against Chicago. Christian Watson. And yeah, they're well coached. I mean, no half Lee, but they, they, you know, hired Jonathan Ganon from Arizona after he got fired to be the defensive coordinator.

6:09You and I both have the Packers to win the NFC North. I'll let you go first with your NFC South pick. All right. My NFC South pick is the New Orleans Saints. I think Tyler Schuck showed a lot last year. I think it's going to be pretty much the same. You've added Jordan Tyson. Now he is dealing with some injuries at the moment, but you still have a larvae and you still have a pretty solid offensive line up front. The Saints defense is underrated to say the least. I think it's going to be really good this year. They're back ends like a cool in McKinsey chase young up front. And he has been performing quite well since he left Washington. So I think there's going to be another big year for him. Give me the Saints to win the NFC South. Well, you know I'm picking the Saints too. I've been talking about them since the end of last year is a team that was on the rise. I thought Tyler Schuck looked the part at quarterback.

7:12No Alvin Camara to start the season, but they have Travis, ETN or however he's pronouncing at these days. They've got a larvae. They've got a very underrated, I think, past catching tight end in Jouan Johnson. And defensively they added Caden Ellis from Atlanta. They've got now I don't I think Cam Jordan is out for the opener on Sunday against the Lions. Chase Young, did you forget about him? You shouldn't have. He had a good season last year. He's only 27 years old and he can get after the pass or when he's healthy. And the thing that I like about the Saints is I like Kellen Moore as an offensive designer and play caller and I think Brandon Staley is an excellent defensive coordinator. I think it's a really good one to combo to have Kellen Moore as the head coach slash OC play caller and Brandon Staley not as a head coach, but as a pure focused on defense guy. I could see Tampa winning this division because I'm a big fan of Todd Bulls and they were injured last year.

8:15And if they're healthy this year, it'll make a big difference. And Rubin Bane Jr. I think is going to certainly be a guy that buys for defensive rookie of the year. But I'm picking the Saints as well to win the NFC South. Let's go to the NFC West. I'm picking the Rams. I just look if what happened to Sam Darnold last night were to happen to Matt Stafford. But it will you know if it ended up being more serious, they're doomed. Like you're not going to start tie Simpson or Stetson Bennett for 12 games and end up winning the division or winning the Super Bowl. But you're looking for relative health when you make these predictions and Matt Stafford being up right and healthy is the key because the rest of the roster is the best in the NFL on paper. I'm taking the Rams to win the NFC West. I think Seattle and I think the 49ers are still I think the 49ers even though they're older. I think they're still very good. But yeah, the Rams are my pick to win the NFC West.

9:17All right. I'm going the other way. I'm taking the Seattle Seahawks. I mean, we saw it last night. I'm a full blown believer in Mike McDonald's ability to it's in game adjustments and just put pressure on any and every quarterback that they're going to face. I just it's a really good front from Seattle and Jerry and Price showed a lot last night. And JSN is still at the top of the game. He can any any play. JSN scored touchdown Rashid J on the other side. Now Drew Lock does give me, you know, a few qualms here and there. But I think honestly they're going to be fine. Sam Darnold was able to get it done. Drew Lock's going to be able to at least keep the ship afloat while he's out. So give me the Seahawks. I like that defense a lot. So I mean, you're not picking the favorite in the division. So that's a good move. I'm picking the overwhelming favorite in that division, not overwhelming. The Rams are the Super Bowl favorite and they're the NFC West favorite.

10:19They're the NFC championship champion favorite. It's it's it's a good division. Like if you if you end up in already Seattle's not at relative health. If they lose Darnold for a few games, we'll see. Maybe they won't miss some or lose them at all. Like if the 49ers are healthy, they're still an excellent football team. I don't care that they're older, but getting, you know, Fred Warner back and getting Kittle back at some point and adding even though he's older, but he was good last year. Mike Evans. He's heard to the mix. They love the rookie, uh, struggling. They think he is a perfect fit for the offense. And at the end of last year when they played Chicago and they scored on almost every single offensive possession. I was like, wow, the Niners still even with the injuries, although, you know, they're injury situation was different in that they lost some of their really good players, but they didn't lose all of their really good players. And they've got like seven or eight A plus players on that roster.

11:22Uh, but that was an incredible end of the season. And then speaking to your Seattle, the fact that Seattle destroyed them twice at the end of, of last season and the 49ers could barely score against Seattle in the season finale and then in the playoff game really speaks to how great Seattle was at the end of the year defensively. But man, that division, you know, at least going into it looks like if all the teams remain relatively healthy, you're going to have, I mean, you're going to have those six matchups, you know, head to heads between those three teams, be some of the biggest games of the year and one of them happens to be tonight in Australia. Uh, all right, NFC East. You ready? I'm ready. I've got Washington winning the game. Oh, no. Oh, no. Part of it is that you got to pick teams that aren't favored to win these divisions because

12:25that's the way it works out half the time. Last year, seven out of the eight, um, we're not favored to win the division. And most of them were way down the list. I, I don't know why this team isn't being given more of a sleeper label at the very least, a sleeper label like this team two years ago was in the NFC championship game with a quarterback who was elite during the season. And the last year, they went five and 12 because that elite quarterback didn't play for the majority of the season. I don't know why Washington isn't getting some of the same treatment that Kansas City or Detroit or Cincinnati or Baltimore is getting. You know, they lost key players, lost quarterbacks, Detroit didn't, but, you know, Baltimore lost, you know, had an injured Lamar at times. Obviously Cincinnati without Barrow, Kansas City without Mahomes.

13:27I, and look, Phil, I guess Philly and Dallas are part of that reason because both of those teams are thought to be, you know, really, really good teams. But I'm just surprised that there aren't more people nationally saying why not them in the NFC's because we should be looking for teams that didn't win it last year because that's the way the NFL is. And this team didn't win the division two years ago, but they got to the NFC championship game after winning 12 games. And you add to that that it shouldn't be anywhere near as bad as they were last year or in 2024 and defense. Now, there's no guarantee they're not going to be a bad defense. But I think there's a guarantee they're not going to be as bad as they were last year. That'd be almost impossible to duplicate. Even the 24 defense would be hard to really duplicate in terms of their inability.

14:28Remember to stop the run. They could not stop the run in 2024. And then you add to it, they've added a true number two receiver, we think, yes, the tonsill injury is real. That's impactful, but they didn't have them in 2024. I'm picking Washington to win the NFC East. You can say home or all you want. I've picked Washington to finish way down the list many, many years doing this, but I am a believer in the quarterback. Obviously, this prediction is contingent on number one, Jaden being healthy and playing 17 games and then number two, the defense improving. I think if those two things happen, they're going to win more games than they lose. I don't play the schedule game. You guys know that. I don't do it for the exact reason we watched last night because it's not about who you play. It's when you play them. Sam Darnold may not be the quarterback here in week three, a game that everybody chalked

15:32up as a loss already when you play the schedule game. I just think that they can win the division. I'll save my record prediction for tomorrow's show and the NFC East in general, how I see the records shaking out. Max will have that as well. I'm going with New Orleans and Washington is surprise division winners along with in the AFC, I've got Pittsburgh. Nobody's picking them to win the AFC North. You got to pick some surprises when you do this. It's probably my biggest surprise. They win the NFC East. Max. All right. Last year you and I both had the commanders winning the division. No, oh, I did. Yeah, I did. Yeah. This year, going the other way, the Dallas Cowboys are going to be at their office is going to be incredibly potent. I mean, CDLAM and George Pickens both healthy coming into the season. Pickens is playing on the tag. So he's going to try his damnedest to have one hell of a year for all these teams that

16:35are going to be looking at him. Then on the other side, the defense, it was the worst in the league last year. Next to ours, but it's just got to be, it's got to be okay. It's give. Can they go from bottom half or last in the league to somewhere in the middle, like maybe high 20s? And I think the down the sky is the limit for the cap. The NFC championship game is the limit for the Dallas Cowboys. I look at Dallas and Washington similarly in that it's all about, you know, the quarterback being healthy and Dax had unhealthy seasons and has missed big portions of seasons. And it's all about whether or not their defense, as you said, can at least approach kind of a middle of the pack defense. And if those two things happen, Jaden Daniels and Dax Press got play all 17 games. And the two defenses move towards the middle of the pack, rather than being near the bottom of the league in Washington's case, dead last and a lot of the key numbers at the end

17:37of last season, not to mention takeaways next to last. Then both teams are going to be improved significantly. My wild cards in the NFC are Detroit. And I think they could win the division, but I picked Green Bay. I think Tampa could be in a good position to battling it out with New Orleans and the AFC South. And I'm going to stick with the 49ers and assume that they can't possibly be as injured as they've been in their off years. Last year they survived for the first time their injuries by making it to the postseason, but they were non competitive against Seattle. I like the 49ers to be that last wild card following Detroit and Tampa Bay. Who are your wild cards? My wild cards are first ones going to be the Rams. I think they finished like very close with the Seahawks. I mean, it's going to come down to those last two games at the end of the year. And I'm not sure how healthy Matt Stafford's going to be by the end of the season. So that that's I just kind of have the Rams taken up that first wild card spot.

18:38Number two, I got the Lions. I also think that they can contend for the division, but it's going to be quite a race up there in the North for that second wild card spot. And then wild card three, the Washington commanders. Ooh, okay. Well, save our record predictions for the team for tomorrow. I will tell you that I've got the Rams as the one seed, Green Bay as the two. Washington is the three in New Orleans as the four. And my NFC championship matchup and winner. I've got the Rams over the Packers in the NFC championship game. Who is your NFC championship? Winner and matchup. I've got the Rams taken on the Seahawks again. I'm giving the game to the Rams right now at the beginning of the season, but ask me closer to Game Week. And I'll give you the right. You're not going to ask. This is your prediction. You're going to have to stick with it. Rams over Seattle. I've got Rams over Packers.

19:39That means your Super Bowl matchup is Rams Denver. My Super Bowl matchup is Rams chiefs. We'll give you our Super Bowl winner later on in the show. All right. The first Washington wins if Washington beats the Philadelphia Eagles if I'll give you my reasons in a moment. But I wanted to mention this for starters, you know, week one is like I keep beating this dead horse, but who the hell knows, you know, especially when one team is rolling out two new coordinators, two new schemes and a lot of new players on defense in particular. And the other team, you know, they're rolling out a completely new offensive scheme with a new coordinator. And one of their best players in recent years is no longer there, AJ Brown. I'm going to say this before I might need to say it, but this one game is just one game.

23:52And it's the first game. And the first game of the year is usually not a great indicator of what the other 16 will be. Just remember that, okay, when we get to Monday, if it doesn't go well or if it goes well, like this is a gym zone, stay medium situation on Monday. You really have to feel that way about the first few weeks of the NFL season. Now, I'll be disappointed if the team doesn't come out with a ton of energy, a ton of aggressiveness, you know, the old coaching, you know, adage, make mistakes at full speed. You know, nothing else. We don't care if you make mistakes, but it better be at full speed. You want to see that obviously in the opener. I'm actually not sure what I'm interested in seeing more or excited about seeing more, the new defense or the new offense. But is it relates to the offense?

24:54The one thing that I feel confident about going into this season is it relates to how both sides of the ball will play is that offensively, David Blow is going to have our quarterback under center more than he's been in the first two seasons, not exclusively under center. Just so everybody knows that even the league leaders in under center snaps the last few years, it wasn't like 75 or 80% of the snaps. It was like 54% of the snaps were under center, but Washington was near the bottom, you know, along with teams like Philadelphia and Kansas City, you know, both ways have worked. And I know that there's been a recent trend of pushing everybody towards under center football, but the Super Bowl champs two years ago Philadelphia didn't take much under center in the year before that. The chiefs didn't take much under center, but we're going to see more under center snaps in the David Blow system. And under center more will include an attempt to run the football in a more zone run centric scheme.

26:01We'll see less quarterback dual threat than we've seen in the first two years. Definitely less quarterback designed runs. You know, they've basically already told us, jaden pretty much told us that the quarterback counters the quarterback, you know, off tackles the quarterback, traps the quarterback sweeps. They're not even in the playbook. So we're not going to see that anymore. And I think we'll see less true quarterback option quarterback dual threat stuff. We'll see a major increase in play action pass attempts. That's a given. You know, this offense will be much more of a play action pass offense, whether that's play action and dropback or play action and bootleg. And by the way, you know, Koolie used to remind us of this. And I always felt it was interesting. He's like, you know, you don't have to be a consistently great run team for play action to work.

27:05If you scheme it up well and your quarterback is really good as a ball handler, you know, as a guy that can really sell the run fakes. And I think jaden will be good at that. And I think blow is going to have to be good at showing a lot of those pre snap, you know, motions and pre snap formations that end up maybe indicating run. More when they're going to go play action. Logan talked about that a little bit in the segment that I played last hour for you. But yeah, it's going to be really interesting to see what it looks like. I mean, they made major changes in the off season. And on the defensive side of the ball, it's not just a major scheme change with a new play collar. It is 10 to 11 guys, all of whom are expected to contribute somehow. If not start, there's going to be a moment either on Sunday or next Sunday or the Sunday after that,

28:08where the 11 players on the field are going to be all new players or 10 of the 11 will be new players to the franchise into the roster. I mean, a lot of a lot of mystery around this team heading into the season. And again, like we talked about yesterday, for me, the quarterback is number one. The quarterback's health is number one. If he plays 17 games, you got a shot to win more than you lose a good shot. And then number two for me is defensively. You've got to see a jump from where it's been the last three seasons, especially from where it was. And if you can improve defensively to just somewhere in the middle of the pack, then you got a chance to be a pretty good team. All right, Sunday, Washington beats Philadelphia if number one, they stopped the run. You know, a lot of this is going to be cliche stuff, especially in week one, especially when we don't know a lot about the teams.

29:11But you know, you can talk all about sayquans big games against our team the last few years. But none of that really applies because it's a totally new defense. And he's in a totally new offense. So this is really the first matchup between this Washington defense and this Philly offense with sake one, Barclay. But you got to be disciplined in the zone run scheme, which you'll see a lot with Sean Manion is the offensive coordinator. You got to be disciplined and cutting off those cut back lanes, stretching it out to the sideline, using that sideline is the extra 12th defender in your run defense. And you got to tackle well. This team was such a poor tackling team last year and you're up against a very talented offensive line. You got to get off blocks. You got to maintain gaps. You got to cut off those cutbacks in the zone run scheme. And you got to stop their best offensive player, sake one, Barclay. Imagine how much easier the first game for Sean Manion would be as a play collar.

30:15If you know, say, Juan's averaging four plus yards per carry, it's got to be less than that Sunday. Number one, stop the run. Number two, very cliche, but critical early season games. You've got to win the turnover margin when you have a lesser talent, which Washington does. And I would say that, you know, a plus one to plus two means you're in the game at the very least, you know, you're not getting handed it to you. You get to plus two, which would be nice. That would require two takeaways minimum, which they didn't do really much at all last year. But if you want to feel good about the chances of winning the game, I think you got to come out of this one right around plus two in the turnover margin. Number three, you cannot make this game a dropback game for Jaden Daniels. You know, when I say dropback, I'm talking about true. We're dropping them back into the pocket because it's third and 10.

31:16They know we're passing and we have to pass and we got to let guys get down the field and he's going to be in the pocket. No drop back right now against this defense, whether it's a good offensive line or a bad offensive line, it's a bad idea. So you have to stay in good, down in distance, you know, whether they do it by running the ball or with quick game as their primary pass offense, you've got to stay in solid, down, distance situations because dropping back Jaden too much against that defense is not something that would be recommended. And I'm not just saying it because of the offensive line. I'm saying it because that defense talent wise is nasty and asking any quarterback to drop back over and over again against that defense is asking for trouble. Move the football without having to call pure dropback in obvious passing situations and you'll be in good shape. And then lastly, we know these week one games are slopfests often be less sloppy

32:21than the opponent. Sloppiness, you know, happens because there's no real preseason. There's no real playing football until week one penalties, wasted time outs, bad tackling, dropped passes, you know, you've got to be on the less side of all of that than your opponent. The cleaner team, always early in the season has a much better chance of winning the game. So there you go. Those are the four keys to beating the Eagles. Our prediction on the team's record this season and on the game Sunday, next hour, up next, Eric Edholm from the NFL network will jump on to talk about last night and help preview week one. All right, Ben and I, Ben and I, Max and I did our AFC predictions on Wednesday. We did our NFC predictions yesterday, which meant we had to give out

33:26whether or not we had Washington as a division winner or a wild card participant. But while I did give Washington out as a division winner and I'm being serious, I mean, the bottom line is if you don't predict kind of unexpected outcomes in the NFL each year, you're probably not going to get a lot right. Most of the teams last year that won divisions like seven of the eight were not predicted to win the divisions. I had Washington winning the division. Max had Washington as a wild card. Neither one of us had Washington in the NFC championship game. We both landed on the Rams as Super Bowl champions. Max had the Rams beating Denver and I had the Rams beating the chiefs. Now we get to our season record prediction for our own team and we've got phone lines open at 301 to 300980.

34:30So what I want from you is what you think their final record will be with a footnote or two. You know, we've done some bold predictions this week. I had Mikey San are still leading the league in interceptions. But I've got a couple of others as well. But the record prediction is what I'm looking for along with a footnote. So if I have Washington winning the NFC East, they're obviously going to have more likely than not a winning record. I've got them winning 10 games. 10 and seven. I think there'll be the three seed in the NFC playoffs. I think the Rams and Green Bay, even after last night, I'm not bailing on the Rams because of a week one result, even though it was a little bit disconcerting. But I like Washington to go 10 and seven. And the footnote is I do think that Jaden Daniels is going to have an

35:31exceptional year that will result in him being a very strong candidate for come back player of the year. But the other part of it and this is really not going to make some of you happy. But I've got Dan Quinn finishing in the top three for NFL coach of the year. And the logic here is that if you go from a team that essentially is expected to win seven games to a team that wins 10 and a division that they were picked pretty much across the board to finish either third or fourth in those are the coaches that usually win coach of the year or are very close to winning coach of the year. So like if Kellen Moore leads the Saints to an NFC South title with a 10 win season, he's going to be in the mix. So if I've got Washington going 10 and seven and winning the division by natural

36:36extension, the head coach is going to be in the running for coach of the year because no one expected Washington to do what they did. So there is a footnote. Jaden come back player of the year Dan Quinn top three coach of the year after a 10 and seven season. And again, I'll say what I've said for a while now going back to post 2025. The number one, the number one most important thing for this team is that Jaden Daniels in my view, a truly elite level talent at the most important position on the field in this sport and maybe in all of sports. If he is healthy and upright for 17 games, I find it very difficult to think that this team would be a bad team or a non competitive team or even a losing record team. Now Joe burrow two years ago had a borderline MVP season and the Bengals went,

37:37you know, nine and eight and missed the playoffs by a game. And they were flirting with a losing record because the defense was terrible. So you can have a great quarterback who plays all 17 games in plays at a high level. And the team around him just is so bad that you're fighting for that nine and 10 wins to get you into the post season. But to me, that's a number one. And if he stays upright and healthy, I just don't see how this team could be a bad football team. I don't. I think the defense is a big, big mystery as is much of the team. But I also think less mysteriously about it being as bad as it was last year. I just don't see how that's possible. And a marginal improvement would give this team a big lift from where it was last year. And with all the new players and the new coordinator, who knows, maybe it's a big

38:39jump in improvement. And if it is and Jaden's healthy, you've got a pretty good football team, I think this year, maybe not anywhere near the elite level teams. That's why I didn't go 11 wins or 12 wins. But I do think if he's healthy and the defense improves a little bit, they, they can win nine or 10 games and I'll go with them or optimistic. I think they are one of those teams, seven and 10 to 10 and seven, 10 and seven with a great quarterback who stays healthy and the team stays relatively healthy. I'm going 10 and seven max. Go ahead. All right. I'm going nine and eight. That's where I've got them finishing. I think we're going to get out to a little bit of a rough start here. You've got a wild card nine and eight team just pointing that out. Yeah. I think they think they think they sneak in. But I do think we're going to get off to a rough start here. I think Sam Darnold, there are reports that he could be back for the home opener in just a few weeks. So Seattle's going to be an interesting test, kind of a barometer for me after these first two weeks because going into Philly and Dallas are going to be real tough.

39:42And I'm not. I don't, I mean, I want to expect that they're going to play well, but I also don't want to get my hopes up and have them dashed, but that's the NFL. But beyond that, I mean, there's a tough stretch in the middle and then it really lightens up towards the back half. And I think that's really when they're going to start coming into their own. So to speak, going into the postseason. And then I mean, I did predict that the Rams are going to be coming out of the NFC, but listen with how they look last night. I don't know anymore. So NFC is going to be interesting. I, yeah, nine and eight. I think they could make a run. But we shall see. We shall see. Remember they signed them a few weeks ago, veteran tackle made the 53. But let me just mention and Ben tweeted this out as well, and it's the first thing that came to my mind. Vested veteran players, you know, get their contracts guaranteed for the season, if they're on the week one roster. That's why you see sometimes, you know, guys that are veterans that are sort of at the bottom of the roster, they'll get let go, but then resigned before week two. If they're on the week one roster, their contracts are guaranteed for the entire year. So the team's got to pay them for the entire season. And if their plan is this particular player is going to be a backup player

44:48until our younger players are ready or maybe he'll end up starting. Who knows what the role will be. You don't want to commit to paying that player for entire season. So it could be that. Now we'll see who they activate from the practice squad for Sunday to be on the roster in DJ Humphreys place. Do we have Ben yet? Okay, we're efforting to get Ben. By the way, the injury report yesterday included Doron pain being limited in practice with some sort of knee issue. We'll ask Ben about that. Adafi Owe, Jekori Kraski Merritt and Kalevon Cheson were also limited. Everybody else was a full go. So those are the four players now, I guess, in question for Sunday. 45:50But I have thought kind of since last week that Owe was the one that was at great risk, that would stink if pain is all the sudden banged up a little bit before the opener and has to sit given right now in that front three in a base four three. You've got Ken Law settle in pain. And then you've got guys like like Tuddle, Barber and a Menihu who would come in and play some if Doron can't go. Ben is with us at Ben standing on X. Of course, he covers the team with his own sub stack. I would highly recommend subscribing to it. I am a subscriber. We'll get Ben's season prediction before he leaves us in about 15 minutes. But I do want to just start with the injury report from yesterday and Doron pain appearing on it. What's the issue with him? Yeah, I saw I mean, it listed as a knee.

46:51You know, he obviously had missed time toward the end of camp. We did with an underscored injury because I didn't have to tell us. So my best guess is that there are best breeders. This is just sort of an extension of that. I'm not viewing this as maybe anything more than just the following the hey, he technically didn't do a ton today. So we need to list him as limited as opposed to oh, he had a setback and now he's limited. That's my best read on it just like shape like you know, my sense is chase on it's going to play even though he looks as limited. Same with Bill. He always the one where I'm a little less clear. So I'm punnid if I'm lumping him in with that that it's stuffed. Hey, technically he didn't do a ton of braggus because whatever the reason, you know, they don't feel like they had to push him or what have you more than like, oh, he's got some injury. But you know, the final injury report so we come down to a few hours. Obviously we have a better field end, but at the moment, he was like in the locker room yesterday. Not that that means anything per se, but he didn't, yeah,

47:51he didn't have any chance to like, oh boy, he's drag and or anything like that. So I don't think it's a big deal at the moment, but you know, we'll obviously have more clarification on all this afternoon. So, trust away, mentioned yesterday or the day before that this is going to be his final season. Yeah, yesterday he laid that out there and, you know, I mean, you know, all this player on the team, longest tenured player on the team. He's been here since 2014. Nobody else has been around since 2018. You know, since 2018 is the next guy who's been around the longest, a drone pain. So yeah, I mean, you know, why he decided to get this out of the way now. Not sure, but hey, you wanted to do it. And, you know, obviously, it's been an incredibly interesting run. There's can't be too many punters in the league now, let alone maybe even the history of the league, who have been as popular as a figure as Tress has. And I think, obviously, a lot of that has to do with, there's been somewhat the bleak times during his run that it was,

48:56you know, not only was he good at his job, but he was just a sunny disposition kind of a guy. And I think the last two years of Tressway really sort of symbolized what this franchise is going through the ups and downs because, you know, of course, 2024, well, from the end of the first week, all the way through in the week four, he didn't punt because the offense was just so efficient. And then last year, he's the only guy that go to the pro ball. In a year where they were terrible. So you got to, you got to pun a lot to go to the pro ball. Yeah, he only punned 50 times in 2024 over Saturday. Right. James. So, yeah. So, let me look, obviously, you know, for what it is, I mean, you know, we all have appreciated what he does, how he's been able to change the field often. You know, obviously, you know, as a holder, I can't think of too many times, it's really almost any where we've been like, oh boy, what happened on that, on that play. So he's a completely rock solid guy who, again, has been a fun person to be around

49:56and yeah, it'll be, you know, something we can discuss. It's not the same as a quarterback search, but when punter search, it looks like at the end of the year. Well, he's, you know, he's only 36. This could be a subject to change. But someone like him, he's got a bright future in media if he wants to be a part of that, because he has been not only, you know, a very likable guy and a successful punter, but he can definitely communicate. All right, let's get to it. How do they beat the Eagles on Sunday? Yeah, I mean, putting aside the obvious don't turn the ball over, think of all those lines, I think, you know, offensively, how the offensive line going to handle the Jaylen Carter, Jordan Davis, along with the interior tandem, as well as just the rest of that front seven of the Eagle tab. That's, I mean, we've got a strength for Philly and it's a question here, but, you know, again, I think if the starting five is what we believe it to be, then for Washington,

50:57then it's not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. It's not to say it's the hogs. It's not to say that it's one of the top half of the lines in the league. It could even be in the top and the bottom 10, but it's not, you know, these guys can walk and shoot them at the same time. The way people have been acting about it, the issue is the lack of depth, but in terms of the starters, you know, I think it can be solid enough. Hopefully, Al Grety, you know, we've been back now two weeks, or we'll be two weeks by the end of this week, from his cap injuries. And hopefully that's given him enough time to get going, get, you know, get better game shape to, you know, work more of the Jayden Daniels. I think that's, I think he's going to become the whole game. If the Eagle's a defensive front is allowed to beat Washington up and cause, you know, call play breakdowns and anything David Blow is trying to accomplish. This may not be there for him, but we know they have better weapons around Jayden than they've ever had before. And then defensively, look, this is a different, looking Eagle's team, no AJ Brown. Their receivers are, you know, they've got Devante Smith, you know, the guy guys were capable,

51:58they drafted McIleman in the first round, but they don't have any like big, hulking guys the way AJ Brown was in tormented Washington. It felt like every time they played, if the pass rush is there, and that's been, you know, the whole point of the sausage, and to bring in all these different pass rushers, to bring in a defensive coordinator who is going to be ultra aggressive. You know, if they can get Jay on the Hertz having to, so beyond, to not be sure where the blitz is coming from, then that's going to be a huge deal. They obviously, you know, Philly knows the Brian Flores deal, but they haven't seen this version yet. So I just think, you know, it's pretty basic fundamental blockup front on offense. We get after the quarterback on defensive. They can do those things and not turn the ball over. Then I think Jayden can do what he does, and I think they could potentially win the game based on that. Yeah. You know, there's been a lot of conversation in, you know, the bubble that we're in, when I say the bubble we're in, not just, you know, fans of the team, media covering the team, media talking about the team, but even that smaller bubble, which is the summer bubble,

53:02the people that are actually into the day-to-day training camp, joint practices, preseason games, etc. And you've said it, and I've said it, there definitely we went from the dig signing and a lot of optimism to the tonsil injury and two snaps and Detroit and a joint practice against the Ravens and it's doom and gloom and that small bubble. But I'm wondering, you know, because I think we heard it from Adam Peters when he and Quinn met with the media a week or so ago in his comment about the fans and what they don't see, etc. I am wondering though, what do you have like a sense of if there is something that they are truly concerned about, even if we can't see it? Do you know what it is? I mean, again, I think they can say what they want about the offensive line, but it obviously become much more unsettled. I mean, other than Sam Cosmie right now, I think it would be hard

54:06press to say that guys on the group would be starting for everybody else in the league, you know what I mean? Like, I don't know, like Josh Connery's got some potential, but it's been a bit of an up and down summer for him off of, you know, was a better last finish last year. You know, Brandon Coleman has a ton of athletic potential. He played the position. I don't think he's going to fall, you know, fall in his face or anything like that. At the same time, there's a reason why they moved on and got tonsil and Josh Connery rather than leaving him at tackle. And, you know, he had tough day against Trey Hendricks and a lot of people do, but against Trey Hendricks and that joint practice, so that's a little unclear. The Nick Allegrette part, they've talked about how his smarts should really help the group and his ability to kind of see what's going on articulate. That's all good, but you will wind up every center in the league. It's conceivable. He's towards the bottom of the options in Chris Paul, one of the bigger surprises last year for sure, but that came with playing with tonsil. Has that going to be the same playing inside of Coleman and Allegrette? I think it would be foolish to say that's a definite

55:10lock that he's all that. And again, he also was back here because he didn't find the offers and free agency that were anticipated. So I think the off into line has got to be the bigger question. And then of course, all that ties into the health of the quarterback. You know, Jayden obviously had the injuries. I think there's something to be said for the fact he's got this like, Dumbi like body that that that's able to take hit that not necessarily be have these significant injuries, but obviously he's also missed a bunch of games last year with multiple injuries. But I think that all ties in together, you know, to me, the quarterback situation is another one where I'm a little concerned, but they may not be because we all know that based on what Minnesota did with their personnel, they went lighter at corner because their belief is that with the blitz, they can get after the quarterback that they can have a little bit less there. And the quarterbacks are going to have to throw the ball off rhythm or what have you. And then if they have defensive back that can make plays on the ball, they should be okay. So to me, the line would be the issue.

56:10And again, I think, you know, anybody who's having the conversations or line is terrible, don't listen to them because the issue isn't that. The issue is they have no depth. The issue is that they have one injury. They are up against it. So that's the problem more than it is. Who's the starting center, which is what most of the conversation nationally is now morphed into. But yeah, I think I don't know how they can't be somewhat concerned about that, but obviously they're going stiff upper lip. I'm not going to tell us that. Yeah, I think that's a really good point. You made this point last year at this time about the wide receiver group. But we haven't seen Nick Gallagherty play center in the NFL other than a game or two. They seem confident. So I don't know why we, you know, would be negative or pessimistic. I'm not saying they're going to be right, but we haven't seen it necessarily. To me, the one thing that we know for sure about that offensive line is that they're going to miss not having Larry, Larry, Tonsil on it period. It's

57:12impossible to say that Brandon Coleman is going to be Larry, Tonsil. Now he may be adequate enough. He may be good enough. He may end up being a really good left tackle, but he's not Larry, Tonsil as far as we know, missing that piece is going to be impactful. And to your point, it affects obviously the depth because Brandon Coleman's got a start in Chris Paul is now a definite starter, etc. You gave us, you know, the other day in terms of your kind of a bold prediction, you said, you think, cross-gamer, it'll rush for a thousand plus. Who's going to lead this team in sacks? Yeah, good question. You know, again, I was thinking the way there. Are you really thinking about? No, no, no, no, no, I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to head this for you. No, look, if you tell me that O'Way is playing almost all the season, all the way to him, I mean, they obviously signed him to the big money contract accordingly now, because they're going to have

58:15so many guys coming from so many different angles, it's possible, it just like balances out, and nobody gets a significant amount, but look, they brought in O'Way for a reason. He was tearing it up earlier in camp, from the pure speed size athleticism aspect. It was widely impressive watching him out in camp this summer before he started to sit with his cap injury. So, you know, obviously, you know, Jason is there, they'll get the orange throwing back next week, and we can go on, but like, I don't know much of why I would go against O'Way. I think I said, I don't know that he's getting 14 sacks. He might lead the team with eight because they have a bunch of guys who are going to get four or five, et cetera, but I would lean towards O'Way assuming that he's in good health, and hopefully that's the case. Give me the guy that you'll be surprised. You won't be surprised, but most will if he's on the inactive list on Sunday. Forget the injured players, somebody else. Oh, boy. Who could be inactive? I mean, I guess I'll just off-top, I'll throw in

59:21Traylon Berks. Now, they technically list him as like the third receiver, but that doesn't only mean that's just the unofficial depth start that they have acknowledged, doesn't mean squat. Typically, the only reason I'm saying him is he can play special teams, but relative to Luke McCaffer, the kick returner, Jail Lane, the pun returner, Deami Brown, it was just a better special team's player. I don't know that he is that guy. Now, again, when you have McCorn and Digs, it makes life a little bit easier. Okay, we have two stud receivers. How do we fill in the rest? Berks has, obviously, the size. And I'm not, again, if he plays, sure. I mean, we'll go for it, but they're not going to keep seven receivers up, I wouldn't think. And if you're going to sit somebody, it was just based on a receiver, you can say Luke McCaffer called a day, but if he's the kick returner, then that's not the case. So, Traylon Berks might be somebody I would think would not surprise me, but might surprise the rest of the world if he sits because of that special team's aspects. All right, prediction time. Who wins Sunday and then what's your season record

1:00:21prediction? Well, I want to sort of tie both of these things into your famous smell test, because, you know, when you're doing your smell test, you're looking at the data, what is the public going one way so hard that it's going counter to the sharp money or just what's almost logical? Washington's, I've already done my smell test. Washington's in it. Yes, plus the five and a half. Philadelphia is a major public play, for sure. Yeah, okay. So I didn't realize it was even up a little bit there, but okay. So like to me, the only people who are being sober about any of this are going to be a few entrepreneurs. And, you know, I think, you know, based on how the public is, Philly should be a 12 point favorite, but that's not how they're looking at it. And then same thing with this season, I mean, if we do a factory reset on how we're looking at this occurs when we go back to the Miami joint practice, right? Now, tonsils already hurt, but digs is here, and always playing and Jason's playing. And I know Miami's terrible, but Washington just absolutely throttled them on both sides of the ball. It was soon after that when the injury started

1:01:21to pile up and, you know, went when the concerns started to go and then they go to Detroit, then they go to Baltimore and that's when things went nuts. But if we go back to that, Miami part of it, boy, the defense really was looking like the way we all envision it when Durante Jones explained his vision. And you see Stefan digs again, easily the best number two receiver that Jayden's had let alone the best partner that McCormons had. They've got better weapons or speed more athleticism and factor in the the anti-commanders play that's out there. You know, I'm going to slightly be conservative and not go crazy, but you know, I think it's like a nine and eight ten and seven, I'll say nine and eight just to be a little a little conservative because you never know. They are, of course, a Daniels injury away from problems, which would be the case for most teams. So I'll go nine and eight. I don't know if that's good enough for the playoffs, but I guess my general vibe is this idea that they're going to be one of the worst teams in the league. We'll see. I just, it does not make any sense based on the reality. I mean, I think people act like the biggest problem

1:02:25in the entire league is Washington's offensive line. I promise that's not the case. I mean, every team has an issue. I don't care who it is. That could be if everybody starts to go down on Sunday, but based on the depth they have, but 100%. I mean, again, like you said, this was the issue last year at receiver. You could get by with McCormick and know what brand if they're playing, you lose them and now the sudden it's a mess. So that could absolutely be the case. But yeah, I mean, I think like I said, I mean, I'll give you the nine and eight just to pick something, but I love that has to do with the fact that just think the public conversation just makes no sense to me anymore. And the reason I'm not going higher is, you know, half the league is in that eight win, nine win range and, you know, it's just a break here, a break there. So I'll go nine wins, but it's like nine pointing up in part because of everything that's going on. I also think Jayden Daniels, you know, this idea, like I said the other day, like if you're telling me that Drake May is better than Jayden Daniels, which is what everybody is saying. It's not even close. When I really have a discussion about this based on the national conversation, I don't know how

1:03:28Jayden walks and choose gum because Drake May is five straight games now where he is not look good. I think Jayden's going to be not just fine. I think Jayden is going to be really good. I think this again, the best weapon where he's had, it's just a matter of how you know, can you stay on the field and does that line do enough to give him time.
