Blackhawks Acquire Mangiapane for Depth

0:00From NHL coverage, this is your March 12th update. The Chicago Black Hawks made a move at the trade deadline, picking up forward Andrew Mangia Penae from the Edmonton Oilers. They sent Jason Dickinson and Colton Doc the other way, and also got a conditional 2027 first round draft pick. The 29-year-old left-winger is 5'10", and brings some NHL experience to a rebuilding team skiing for depth. Mangia Penae started with the Calgary Flames after being drafted in the sixth round, 166 overall in 2015. He had a breakout year in 2021, 22, scoring 35 goals in all 82 games. After that, he bounced around, signing a three-year deal worth $5.8 million with Washington, then a two-year pact for $3.6 million with Edmonton last July. In Edmonton, things didn't click for him. He played just 52 games with seven goals and 14 points, averaging under 12 minutes of ice time. The Oilers put him on waivers in early March, and he cleared before getting dealt to Chicago
