Bowelbabe Fund Raises £20M for Cancer Research

On April 2nd, the Ball Bave Fund, started by Dame Debra James, just smashed its 20 million

pound milestone in under 4 years.

Set up in May 2022, right before she passed from bowel cancer, at age 40, it blew past

the original 250,000 pound.

Goal and hit over 1 million pounds in the first day alone.

Prince William called it an incredible milestone and amazing legacy in an Instagram message,

saying Debra and her loved ones are in his thoughts.

He even personally gave her the dame hood while she was in hospice care, joining her family

for tea and champagne.

Her mom Heather said Debra would be over the moon, and dad Allister told BBC Breakfast that

even with her energy, she probably wouldn't believe they, raised 20.5 million pounds in

her final weeks.

Cancer Research, UK, which gets the cash, has funded 16 projects already, including a

bowel-bay vaccine, to boost immunity against bowel cancer.

Thanks to research like this, more than half of folks diagnosed with bowel cancer in

the UK now survive, this fund keeps pushing forward, proving one person's drive can spark

real change in the fight against cancer.
