1:00in the bureaucratic ranks and become senior officers flag officers there the best people for the job is based on what well it would have to be based on just logically an assumption that they were doing uh... what they were supposed to do before and at the previous mission set for readiness for the pentagon readiness for a military uh... was being pursued and it's on measure achieved well if you come into the situation you say that our military needs quite an overhaul that we have to take a somewhat radical approach to things because what has been in the past cannot be going forward then guess what you find yourself having to shake things up this all this uh... kerfuffle right now in the military ranks remain or in the ranks but about military people of high rank reminds me of every discussion about trump in the first term the first trump administration

2:04where he was elected to be a disruptor to smash things that were not working properly or that were upsetting people are the train people and sure enough they kept saying all but look what he's doing to this or that sacred institution he's upending it he's dare i say transforming it that's the point isn't isn't that what he is elected to do in that context now has a secretary of warhegs have been appointed to change the military from a lot of what we had seen as policy for years uh... whether it's the uh... d i initiatives the social justice stuff i mean i remember i can tell you i was never in the military but as you know i was in the cia and serve non-similitary bases overseas for periods of time many years ago and i remember everywhere i would see this diversity is our strength stuff military like military um... essentially propaganda for the military

3:04and it was diversity is our strength i remember being in a in a rock and thinking no i'm pretty sure having the most lethal warfighters possible who can outthink out maneuver and outkill the enemy uh... that's our strength when you're talking about the military not diversity there has been a ideological creep from the left throughout our military for a long time and to bring that to a conclusion to finally route that out of course it's going to be somewhat different than what it had been before and that means it also has to have different personnel there's no way to do this without at some level uh... people becoming angry people are going to view this as not on mission not on uh... not on the right path and obviously by this is the realities of this administration so far have been racking up i think a lot of winds

4:06and doing a lot to reform institutions that had been considered broken for quite some time or or at least in need of some major fixes the uh... trump administration has been very clear that any shortage for example that has been run uh... from the munitions side of things were blown up a lot of stuff in straight up for moves in iran and have been doing so for months they're saying we're running low on these uh... munitions the administration has been working not only to uh... have ample stockpiles of those but also and this is the critical part to be a better place to ramp up production of them going into the future so it's not just a temporary situation is not a one-time thing it's we have a better military industrial capacity to be able to meet these threats because the future is increasingly going to be a future of uh... technology and

5:07industry deciding battlefield outcomes that is quite obvious with the rise of artificial intelligence uh... low space earth orbit satellites and communications and robotics when you see a i robotics and low-space low-space orbit comms all these things coming together you are going to have a twenty first-century battlefield that is at some level robotized and you're going to have autonomous fighter jets and you're gonna have you already have seen this with uh... with russia removing the human factor from the kill chain with some of the lethal drones that it's using so the drones are trained on a i to look for certain target they find the target and they then go dive bomb and and explode into that target that's already happening so our ability to make these things and to make them rapidly and also to innovate on them that's what puts us in a better place

6:08to fight the wars of the future it's not do we have enough hellfire missiles and tomahawk missiles today yeah of course in an immediate sense if you're going to continue to fight against an adversary where you need those munitions fine but we also have a lot of other munitions that are far less sophisticated expensive that would get the job done too uh... there's i think a growing there should be a growing awareness that this secretary of war and his top team are trying to get us into a position where as a as a country as a nation our military is prepared for the next war we can put an end to the preparing to fight the last war maximum uh... that has been a a truism of american military preparedness for a long time we are not looking to prepare for long-term contingency counter-insurgency operations in some third-world hellhole and build the military just for that we are understanding now that russia china

7:08nation-state level threats are once again the primary adversary and those are countries with sophisticated highly sophisticated military technology and the ability to inflict major battlefield casualties on us without even risking any of their own people that's not something that we came up against really with uh... i says and uh... and boko haram and al-Qaeda and all these different jihadist terrorist groups out there sure they would deploy suicide bombers but they had to usually send force against us peasant will started experimenting with drones quite a while back but now we've seen the threat level escalate for drones for robotics and and for the ability of for adversaries to use them very effectively so yes there's going to be some uh... now i'm going to use another uh... another cliche right the clueless cliche about preparing for the last war to try to avoid that and maybe to
