Opening weekend, the real opening weekend at College Football. I have some thoughts. I'm going to talk with Nate Tyson about some of the stuff that I don't get to. So I don't want to double up on everything again. Nate Tyson who loves I think Saturday as much as I do. Been joining us every Monday and we'll do some NFL overrunners with him. But let's start it off in Bat Rouge on Saturday night because that was pure domination by LSU. You wondered what the Kiffin offense was going to look like. The assumption would be it's going to look pretty good if
they're healthy and Sam Levitts back there. And it was just an absolute train. Some of the stats from this game at one point LSU was up 21-1 in first downs against Clemson. They had over what? They had 644 total yards 309 rushing yards, which is kind of the whole thing with LSU the last two years is can you run the football LSU was last in the SEC and rushing per game. Bama was second to last. I can't imagine the last time or if that's ever happened in the SEC or those two schools were that bad at running the football. And a lot of it had to do with Dylan Jones at running back who came over from Wisconsin. I can't help but immediately look up some of the transfer portal stuff because it's still kind of new for me to like catching up on all the rosters. You can read stuff and then it's like, Oh, that guy. All right. So he was a four star running back number 10 running back in his high school class when he came to Wisconsin a couple years ago. He ended up with 92 total carries. I guess they just didn't want to play him. So in the transfer portal he drops to a three star, which this stuff like I don't necessarily blame the people for doing it because it's like,
well, they didn't use them. So why are we going to keep? But it's like you just downgraded him because he didn't play. And he went from the number 10 running back to the number 75 running back. Well, that's not true because he was a beast. And he's getting the touches over some much heralded recruits. They're still on this roster. Fairless. You just not going to hear from. I don't know. The other transfer stuff that happened Jordan Ross off the edge. He was the number one edge guy five star that was at Tennessee. Princewell, who comes over from Ole Miss was ridiculous. They didn't even really use. I don't think 99 the freshman, doose jarrals all that much. And they were able to run the football. I would tell you though, the same levit part of this. And this is the reason why I brought up the Jackson dark comps is that it's a lot of fun and it's really competitive. And Herbstree kept calm like Baker Mayfield and plays with this defensive mindset, you know, like a safety linebacker. That's what Herbstree kept saying on the call. And it makes it, it just scares the shit out of me. Then it's like, is he going to be able to stay healthy for 12 straight games? The same reason why like the Jackson dark thing I kind of go, all right, like we'll see because I don't like
when quarterbacks instinctively want to bail that quickly. Like eventually, I think you have to figure out like, how do I stay in the passing play here before I go to something that definitely works and then I'm good at and the levit so incredibly quick, but just a lot to ask. But he had an incredible year two years ago. So it kind of reminds you all that stuff. So LSU looks really good. I couldn't help but think about how we felt about LSU just a year ago where they went into Clemson, won a close game, worried about the offensive line that was bad in 24. It was actually worse in 25. But for a night, you were like, hey, LSU fixed their old line problems. They did not. We've already covered it. Nussmeyer, all right. He was clearly hurt. And then I'm getting rid of their coach. But because of that Clemson win, LSU was nine in the preseason polls and they jumped to number three because Clemson was a top 10 team. And really what we found out was Clemson was going to have one of the worst seasons they've ever had under Davo. And this Davo thing continues to go in the wrong direction from 2015 to 2020. Clemson finished no worse than three in the final AP poll. No worse than
three. The last five season for Clemson, they finished in the AP 19 7 22 16 unranked last year. Who knows? Maybe LSU is just an absolute powerhouse and they got their ass kicked and Clemson will still make some noise in a terrible ACC. And if you're a casino who gets the starting nod and you're like, I get benched half time, like, can we just play the SCS school like the other teams? Thank you for the walk around campus for a week. Me and like, yeah, you know, 3, 10, 4 touchdowns. No big two. What's the plan? What's the plan this Thursday? Instead, you get bench for Reynolds who's more athletic and you run around and the whole idea is like, maybe he gives us a chance in the second half against the LSU pass rush, which is just ridiculous on top of the edge guys. And I'm talking about daughtery coming over from Ole Miss lining them up with the healthy weeks, the corners. So that couldn't have been a lot of fun. But Davo, who I once joked should be head of Homeland Security because of how much he hates a transfer portal. As recent as 2024 zero transfers, he has I think 10 or 11, depending on where you look at the count of all this. I think that's second least in the ACC
behind only Stanford or head of Stanford. If you go through all the power for programs, Clemson's like fourth or fifth least amount of transfers. So it's clearly something Davo still doesn't like to do. He brings in Chad Morris, who we brought in in 2011. But the people that know this stuff a lot better than me are like, Hey, Chad Morris is your OC. Like he hasn't been associated with a great offense in kind of a long time. So Davo can hate where college football is now. There's some things that I hate about college football right now. Even the stuff happening with LSU this week, I didn't really like it. And it was kind of an odd circumstance with a new ruling of five seasons and five years. That kind of thing. But so maybe this whole thing is pointless. Maybe in two years, I wouldn't even think that's a big deal because we've all become desensitized. All these changes that maybe we'd be fighting against or just felt like our position was, Oh, you can't do that. And Davo's still doing it with all sorts of different stuff. And I don't want to get hysterical about Davo's future with Clemson because of what he's done there. But you can sit around and be mad or you can
sit around and adapt to the rules that make you mad because there's really no other point in being in a competitive world and not trying to take every advantage that you can within reason after we obviously had some NBA news last week. Oregon Boise State fun game wasn't fun for ducks fans. I can't imagine in the first half. I would tell you the ducks like a lot of mistakes throughout the game. Old line, another team that's a title contender that we just go, Hey, look at all the transfers in the line. This will be fine. I don't think it was fine. Maybe it's the first week. I think there's probably a lot of teams that are going, man, we need to tighten some stuff up after that first week. But with Oregon being a national title contender, I think you would have liked to see it be a little bit cleaner. Boise's picked to win the pack 12. But I think it's because the rest of the pack 12 isn't very good. So they're kind of everybody's playoff picks. You can say, Hey, they went up against a potential playoff team. If Boise were in a power four, I don't think that team is making the playoffs, but they're probably going to get the bit. So they're tough. I think they're quarterback. There's times where I think there's some limitations there, but they
were in the fight the entire time. And Oregon's first half, you look at the first six possessions, turn over on downs, four plays in a punt, touchdown, the punt fumble by Stewart, the receiver who's, you know, healthy downs again on fourth down, obviously punt. And then they get the touchdown at the end of the half. I couldn't believe Dante more had 378. They couldn't really run at that great. So that was needed. And the positive side for the ducks is you look at all these weapons in the receiving game. It's it's stupid. McLellan more had the huge play in Stewart who's healthy now. They combined for 20 catches for 323 yards. And then you had Jeremy Johnson, the big tight end who was kind of hidden behind the D class year, who's an NFL player, like he'll play in the NFL. He had the touchdown. So a ton of weapons there. They're going to have to clean up a lot of stuff. Speaking of O line transfers. And this is something I'm just going to keep pointing out, because I'm worried about the sport. I'm worried when I look at the transfer portal rankings. And then who each conferences top transfers are in coming in the big 10 in the SEC like there's we already knew
there was a gap between those two conferences in the ACC in the big 12. But if the ACC in big 12 are picking collectively from the non power four schools in the big 10 in the SEC are loading up on other power four transfers like this is going to get even worse. So an M having to rebuild their O line after three players get drafted the centers the only returning one coming back. They're at least bringing in three transfers from SEC schools. So even if they flamed out or maybe they gave more money and they were terrific like there's a standard. There's a base there of like, okay, yeah, we actually were recruiting this kid at a high school a couple years ago. Let's try to get him in here. I'm going to probably always worry about like the thing that'll stand out for me that that corner has been turned by Marcel Rita quarterback will be the red zone touchdown percentage because last year for a title contending team it was an alarmingly low number. So we'll see. We are going to find out anything this past weekend because of who they played. But the weapons are receiving a gamer trip for them. They're loaded at running back after owns. They've got two freshman number three guidance class number 20 guidance class. We both got some touches in this game.
So an M at least for a day against that terrible football team reminding us that there's a lot of options here for Rita quarterback. They also held Missouri State to 67 total yards on defense. It was that bad of a game. Indiana was a game I wanted to watch a lot of because I just wanted to see Hoover. He was only 13 to 16, but it was 231 and I thought it was great. His misses are usually pass breakups. That's how accurate he is, how good he is at leading receivers. So and he'll take chances like he will consistently go, Hey, I've got one and one. I expect my wide receiver to win the battle. And that's one of the things I know he turns it over a little bit more than everybody likes. Maybe they they clean that up a little, but I'll take a few exceptions if I know with this receiving core that he has with marsh and becker. Like let those guys go win because they're going to win way more often than the corners ever going to win there. You could nitpick a little bit about the D line, give it up a bunch of rushing yards. You could nitpick the old line, give it up some not running it the way you'd expect with Indiana, you know, whatever. I don't really care.
They only give up three points in the last five positions against North Texas. So let's look at the big boys to put our perspective what we saw from opening weekend because unfortunately this is going to keep happening. If I were an AD, I'm not scheduling anybody. I mean, you can make fun of me if you want. I think some teams that sit there and get all chesty about other team schedules and they don't play fucking anybody like I don't love that. But I mean, this is this is what it's going to be because now everybody playing the nine conference games. I just think we're going to lose a lot of these opening weekend things and we need to even have like a great opening weekend slate. The old Miss Louisville game was terrific. You know, at least Clemson LSU on paper a couple years ago, you felt like that was going to be a great game. Notarame's got to play somebody because the rest of the ACC's terrible. So, you know, Wisconsin counts. Like I'm into the point now. It's like, oh, you played Cal. Like, all right, cool. At least you played somebody. Ohio State plays ball state. They went for an eight last year. They're picked 12 or 13th in their conference. They're one of the worst teams in college football. Don't worry. Like, no one should take this personally. It's just is what it is.
So, I'm not even criticizing anybody. I just want to put in perspective who these top 10 teams played this opening weekend. Oregon, we were to cover that Georgia played Tennessee State. They're an SCS school that went two and 10 last year. Notarame Wisconsin. They may be the 16th best team in the big 10, although I do kind of like the QB and the defense was physical hung around there for a half. Texas played Texas State who was in. No way you're getting that right. They're in the pack 12. Because of course they are. Do I know every team in the pack 12 right now? I know there's eight teams. I couldn't tell you all eight. Sorry. I know I do this for a living, but talk to me in October, November. So, Texas State is not a top 80 team picked fifth in the pack 12. Indiana, North Texas. They went 12 and two last year. Not exactly the same team. It's 70 new players. That's a lot. That's a high number. 19 of them went to Oklahoma State. I think I had said in a preview Oklahoma State basically imported North Texas. I don't look a lot, but I saw
a comment on Twitter or it was like actually it was only 19 players. It was like, oh, my bad. They're picked 11th or 12th in the American conference. They're not a top 100 team. Miami and Stanford. I'm going to talk about Stanford for just a little bit, a little bit later on. It just bums me out to see him suck this bad. They're picked last in the ACC. Maybe you've seen Boston College picked last in the ACC. Stanford being a top 80 team this year would probably be a good thing. Texas A&M Missouri State. They went seven and six last year. They're picked eighth in conference USA. Probably not a top 80 team. Excuse me, conference USA is so bad. They don't have a single top 80 team according to Bill Conley from ESPN who we're going to have on. We hope. He has Missouri State as the 126 best team in college football. Ole Miss Louisville terrific game. I thought Keen Holtz was a disaster in the first half. I mean, McDonough even said like, hey, he probably wishes to the backup. Wish you probably no one ever wishes.
Except for Danny Canal when he was in the NFL. But, you know, they opened it up. They scored a ton of points. That game was wild in the second half. I think Ole Miss's defense was incredibly stupid on like individual decisions. I think there's like three specific plays I could point to. But like, what the hell are you doing that maybe led to 21 points? Oklahoma played U-TEP. They went two in 10 last year. They're picked to go last in the Mountain West. Maybe not even a top 130 program. And then I just keep doing this if I wanted to. Texas Tech played Abilene Christian. So, not a daunting slate. And look, everyone is kind of guilty of it. I mean, you know, sure, there's a couple teams in there. That's why I'm like, hey, Notre Dame played Wisconsin. Like, poor, you can play Boise. Terrific. I'm not calling out. I mean, Ohio State has to play Texas next week. All right. So, some of the teams are still doing it. I just don't think you're going to see it. I'm going to admit a little bit of FOMO getting some text from down in
Baton Rouge, raising Cain's founder, Todd Gray's in the suite. I think Brandon Landry was in there. I think Mac Landry was in there. It looked like the Nators were in full force. Theo Vaughn, I think that was his first ever LSU game. So that had to be exciting for him. Cain's is also sponsoring PGA tour golfer Sam Burns, LSU alum, Louisiana native and good friend of raising Cain's owner and founder, Todd Gray's. You may have seen the Cain's logo on his collar during tournaments this season ahead of the BMW championship. Sam and raising Cain's hosted kids from first T and boys and girls clubs of St. Louis from meet and greet and golf lessons by Sam himself at a driving range in St. Louis. And of course, Cain's chicken fingers and Cain's sauce. I'm a Cainiac guy. I tell you all the time. I'm like, I'm going to need one extra finger. I've done two. That's a little aggressive. So a side finger to go with all that sauce. It just makes sense. Raising Cain's chicken fingers, one love. It's Monday, Nate Tyson joins us Yahoo Sports football 301 and before we get

they're at or they're like hey Joan Hurts we're gonna make you work under center we're gonna make you throw over the middle I think there's gonna have growing pains I think they're have growing pains too they're losing Jeff Stoutman one of the best offensive line coaches ever who walked out you know as opposed to it that smells that's uh that's uh no I figured totally right because when I had to be reminded of it in the sea of information it's kind of like one of those things you're doing your preview things again and you're like oh and it was wasn't he asked to do something else yeah do you and he would expand your role or limit your role one of the ones something yeah they're making them do something that yeah he was not that he didn't want to do yeah he was I that's kind of been my joke is that he's been the second most important person in that building uh for the last decades been how he rose men and then Jeff Stoutman like because it's like his idea in the offensive line like it's all him like that's been the consistency it's always been gigantic athletic guys that he coaches up and I just think even if the replacement coach um is okay it's still a drop off you know and it's an offensive system that they're really even
if there's a little change of language like you gotta talk to a right tackle Lane Johnson has been doing one thing his entire NFL career you know he's only had one offensive line coach he's at different coordinators different head coaches but one online coach so there's just those kind of I'm squinting at that when the strengths are just starting to show some cracks that's gonna kind of like you know tap her me off of them a little bit now on top of it um hurts in this past game I think there's ways for it to work everyone wants them to throw digs and seams that's not really his strength but he can throw stuff like over routes and then get Devonte Smith moving around but I just look at the rest of the offensive roster they have no blocking tight ends like real ones um you know they have months and stuff but they like EOS hours is a project you know the guy they draft in the second round Dallas Goddard's not that type of blocker so all right if we want to do play action we want to get under center we want to launch the ball tight ends have the block and they don't really have that so I I just have a lot of questions on this offense it might work but I'm a little pessimistic on it so I'm kind of overall pessimistic on the team it's 10.5 wins it's considered
the 10th easiest schedule but that's just based on opponents winning percentage which can be a little like there's all sorts of different you want to get into the strength of schedule weeks oh god um go for it because I'm so there's some massive variation again more complicated models than combined opposing winning percentage from 25 but I still think it's over so I'm gonna give that one out as an over um look you've got the division you don't want to just say because the way the NFL works like between Dallas and the Giants or excuse me between the Giants and the commanders that that's automatically four wins but it might be split with Dallas five you've got the tight and Steelers grad Arizona you'll have the Niners in week 17 when they're all gonna be hurt so I still think 10 and a half is very manageable for them yeah I do too I'm right on the 1910 win cost I'm leaning more cowboys is I knew I mean I can't even get my first overs cowboys over nine and a half wins but as I talked about last week I I'm more bullish on the cowboys and they're the defense getting improving than the Eagles and their offense kind of getting to what they wanted to be kind
of this new jail and hurts offense or just really I'm just curious how it looks because I don't have a lot of examples to look at other than practice clips and practice you know takeaways haven't been exactly positive and even guys like Malachi lemon who they're okay we trade away a G Brown don't worry we're gonna draft another first round receiver right here totally different skill sets and on top of it lemon hasn't been practicing at all and hasn't been doing much so he has now but he hasn't was mostly during camp but yeah it's just one of those words that stay away from me and I lean more cowboys and I guess I can even just say that that's my first kind of over nine and a half wins for the cowboys you've been on this cowboys thing now for months you know I know you gave us the preview thing even stronger as we build the start of the season because it seems like you're so pocketmitted to it you're not like start are yeah yeah but now I'm starting to poke holes because now I'm starting to go like all right how could this fall apart because other team I've been high on is like the chargers but I'm like now I'm starting to poke holes on my own charger stuff too so yeah the cowboys like what if the new defense coordinator is not good you know like what if
he's I might think he's great because he's new and different you know Christian Parker what if the new defensive changes aren't great you know what if it's like better on paper than it isn't practice with off until line falls apart you know so but I'm still I'm still staying on the over but yeah I've been starting to try and poke holes because I'm pretty take committed on this I was looking at some of the win rate stuff too with the the D line in their front like the numbers are really good yep and yet the defense was statistically the worst how does that other none of their dbs are like on anaphyl roasters right now from last year and on top of it is just like sports theory like if you have a talent deficiency you want to be a little bit more chaotic you know because you're just trying to you know create chances for yourself and Maddie influences the opposite of a chaotic chaotic defensive coordinator so he's calling the most basic zone coverages with terrible talent that's it's the worst combination you could do you want to you want to be like the cardinals you know where it's like hey we don't have a lot of talent but we're gonna blitz every down we're gonna just do some stuff you know fans Joseph his first year
of the Broncos well yeah we might give up 70 but at least we're gonna have a chance in other games that's kind of how the way you want to go about it and so they did give up 70 they did what they literally give up 70 no but I do think that that's it's not just the guys that they brought in you know kale down is gonna get a lot of the headlines like if their defense improves everyone goes kale down it's okay but they get other guys like overshones coming back from injury Donovan Ezraku's in the second year like they have more talent kind of already there on the cuss and I think that's why I just kind of keep talking myself into it even if like bar room the rookie uh was great as a rusher and I just grained inside lineback now they have depth that positions that they're playing Jack Samborn last year like and I like Jack Samborn he's a badger but he's on the street for a reason right now and he was starting for this team last year so it's just those little kind of I don't say micro improvements but just little tear bumps everywhere that's why I just keep kind of kind of talking myself into them over and over and over I just want to clarify it for the record um that Vance was not there in 23 when Miami scored 70 points
how he was I thought he was he was oh no yeah oh is he's not his head coach he was DC yeah yeah but then everybody wanted champagne one they wanted champagne to fire him they he's like no that's my guy and now you do good he's doing good so I think does the right call yeah it was his first year back because that's one of the strange it's not the same as Brent pry with Virginia tech where you lose the head coach and gig and you stay on his defensive coordinator I which I don't know if that's happened very often but Vance came back fickle did it um when the whole was for a prior thing it was the whole trial prior thing and the whole yeah yeah the tattoo gate he was like a stopgap like yeah just do this that's the one I remember yeah um yeah I went with the head coach thing you're right first year back as a coordinator so I guess I yeah I guess we do get to put that one on him um all right speaking of Arizona that's good I have them as an over three and a half I love that well hey I just yeah the NFL part of it look it's it's a tough schedule okay yes but I I'm doing a bad job selling this right now because I could sit there on any any
NFL team although I think there's like some Raiders years really where's the talent the Patriots I think postbellic check at one point you were like is this actually the least exciting roster in the entire NFL um Arizona is not that there's a handful of guys that I really like and if you want to go hey the defense was bad last year but it was incredibly young you have two rookie corners they'll be better there's some defensive line names at least that we think with a little bit of seasoning that'll be better and the baseline of what you get a quarterback even if we both know that Beckett some point is going to start because they're not going to be good they're going to want to see what they have but the way this sport works like any number that's that low and I don't think it's like a catastrophically horrible all-time historically bad roster I'll take the over on that so it's a three-nav I'm with you on that one I they had the most the second most adjusted games lost ever last year to injuries um as far as like actual starters and playing time lost two injuries not just it was at every position too um but especially on the defense they also have Walter Nolan um who's in a second year if he's healthy like he's an all-pro caliber guy
like really is he's already flashing it which that's always just been a stick like if he's healthy if he's playing like but if he is he's really really dang good um they they also did I do think Michael for is decent yeah I know he's just first time head coach and everything they're kind of a meme team where everybody's just kind of using a lot of the stigma against them and then that's why they're like oh that's why they stink it's the Cardinals they stink like this all the four can't do is oh they drafted a run back number three and he got hurt right away because they don't know to do that I actually do think they have a lot more kind of glue and in between to hold them together then I think people are realizing and I think guys like Michael Wilson who just got extended even Marvin Harrison those guys are better schematic fits for this offense because Michael Wilson is going to get used a lot as a blocker as a motion guy a lot of I hate to I hate to use it about the Pukinakua role but how Cooper Cup was used Robert Woods was using that offense Michael Wilson's perfect for it and I think the run game will actually be pretty decent like whether it's love or algear and so I'm I'm with you and I think the defense is interesting Nick Rals is pretty cool what he does I love it I love the over three and a half whether it's love whether it's McBride
who might be just the next best tight end in the NFL I think there's some grades I tell you from 25 that that's exactly what he was the left tackle they spent a high pick on yeah and then you run through the D-line guys including Nolan who you know is the headliner with this whole group and you know like Bressets always that guy like he's kind of like the 17th best point guard in the NBA yep where you go hey he's pretty good it's just the position stacks all the two guards became point guards so like you're constantly wondering like how can we upgrade this when in reality and maybe I'm rounding up a bit there on Bresset but there's just too many people that have been around him we're like you know he's actually pretty good there's a lot of people that have been like hey he's he's he's not like awful but you're always thinking how do we replace this so we get to that next level all right he's yeah I mean the same tier is like Lake career Kirk cousins and people will rather you know put the stigma or like they could kind of reputation them all sure like I should say Lake career I should say late Minnesota Kirk cousins where it's like yeah we can get better but we also get worse than this because he's at least competent to run an offense so we both like Arizona
all right your next one I'll go bucks over eight and a half wins plus one 15 they bucks I've talked my more myself more into as the summer went along really dig their own line I did an article on all lines and I have number one I think at the very least around you have them ahead of Denver's I do Denver's gets helped out a lot by the scheme they have a lot of talent like there's a lot of good but I think like the high end I would take Tristan were sort of bulls I gotta take the center like Graham Barton Barton over those western burger I'm sure I'm blanking on the Bronco Center right now but I would rather I just think they have better high end talent and I just think the scheme helps him out just a little bit but I do like them I think they're number two I think I'm two but yeah no I think the bucks are a line man and Bucky Irving looks healthy like he and he's always gonna have some nicks because he's not huge he's about one ninety two anytime I run him back under 200 you're gonna I think you should think that they're gonna hurt as opposed to stay healthy and but at least in the preseason the running him in the preseason if they kept him in bubble wrap the whole preseason I
would be a little worried but they're like having them out there first drive taking care is like okay so they feel real good and why I bring that up is that the run game fell off a cliff last year because the O line got hurt that's the strength of this team is the O line Baker gets a lot of headlines I get it but it's it's the O line and it's the game that run game back on track mate that also makes Baker not as chaotic and not feel the need to scramble at a the Marge Hackson rate like you did last year so getting him just feeling a bit more normal and just the receivers getting a little bit healthy I know Bucca already as a toe but I also just the defense like Todd bulls is Todd bulls like it's chaotic he can be predictable in some ways even though with the kiochness but they have boosted the linebackers a lot which I like they got a trodder at linebacker I think I mentioned this before but I just like the DB room Antoine Winsfield Jr like I just I think the defense is gonna be a lot better than it over the last few years where they've been blitzing and just having no effectiveness they have nobody that can rush the passer and now they got Ruben Bane and Yaya Diabi and they got some they got some juice up front so I've really gone from like I they're the best of the Fc South
to like more like I think they go in 10 games probably lose early in the playoffs but I've been feeling more bullish about this team overall I like Diabi but I think there might have been just one game I was on a flight where it was the only game I had on and he just like absolutely lit it up might have been a Niners game then I just he's like this guy's ridiculous but 15% pressure rate last year anything above 10% is good so the rare guys are like 18 but 15 that's that's really good so yeah I biggest question is Baker which I actually think is a good thing like if you're talking about just the team not about contract extensions or anything like that but I want to see how he plays without Mike Evans and I think he'll be okay because I think the rest surroundings are gonna be a little bit better than the world last year. Speaking of contract extensions I'm going Houston over 10 and a half it's just because of the defense and I just I'm yet I as bad as it looked there's no way CJ Stratus this bad you could make an argument that Owen 4 is possible start with Buffalo Cincinnati cult Dallas three of the games are at home
they're not going to start Owen 4 but based on the seventh easiest schedule what's that that's not easy that's that's the real one that's their start yeah it's just be funny of like they get off to a one in three which is totally doable on this thing gets a lot easier they they cross with the NFC East not that that's a layup because it's it's too potentially really good teams in there but it's not like some of the other conferences at times or divisions at times where you're like there's not an easy out in the entire group they could get off to kind of a bad start and it could be completely misguided kind of national perception about them because there's just no way that defense is going to be bad they're going to be unbelievable and I just don't think Stratus is bad as he was last year so that's my over there I'm I'm super high on them to all the reasons you stayed at defense I think is going to be in the thing too is like lying back or depth is their biggest blemish at defense and they drafted some guys I like yeah Wade Wood as I really like so I'm I'm with you I'm high on the Texans I have them as to kind of my ABC favorite I think I
talked to you about that last time but I was strad I mean I had last time so strad last year was a the 12th best quarterback in terms of EPA for dropback and we're asking if he should wear the of extension that's the bad strad and I know it's just EPA and it's just not that it's one metric you can look at but it's like all these numbers point to a guy that the very least you can win with and those guys get paid and I think there's a little gap and I think in their numbers right now but I I can't believe people are thinking that like this guy's not a cable quarterback I think he's better I think he's good more in that tier two range that low end of the tier two range of what I consider that but man I think he's worthy of paying and I think actually he's going to surprise the people too the problem is it's two things the last game was bad is it could possibly be yep and everybody watched it and then people look at that and go this guy's turning down 50 million a year and so that's just the it's it's all of the conversation out here I hear it nationally constantly and it's hard to tell like if you were sitting there doing a two-man radio show
and the other guy goes are you serious like I'm supposed to hit this guy 60 million a year after what we just watched but the reminder for everyone should be quarterback contracts like if you're in that top 12 it has almost nothing to do with how good you are compared to the other guys it is strictly about the timing of when the deals are available and the agent is going to push for that 60 number because other guys are at 60 and Strauss deal is newer and there was a time where you thought he was the next guy look there was a golf deal years ago that people were like you've got to be out of your mind and it had way more to do with him just being up he was just the next guy up these deck deals have everything to do with Dallas not really doing a great job in timing this stuff they could have gotten in front of it they wait they in a paying him even more there is a very clear pattern that I try to remind NFL fans about all the time is don't you can't look at the average annual salary of like a top 12 guy and get worked up about it because there's 10 guys clearly better than him it's just not the way the finances work on those guarantees
it's like those other little things the no trades the no no franchise tags like those matter more than a million and a half difference or 500,000 difference or five I remember when I was with the Rares and Derek Carr and Stafford I think both the guy extended back to back and that's before staff how we treat staffer now is different than how we treated them then because then it was like why are they extending them again like they can't win with them that's but now of course we talk about the cousins deals I mean no quarterback has played it better because Washington actually through their credit they were kind of like we don't want to do this deal we don't want to do all the deals that Ryan's referencing like we know you're pretty good but we don't think you're that good and we don't want to pay you market and then it's like okay guess what none of these guys ever become available so now he's dictating all the terms he's getting renew and all of it's guaranteed the whole time so I think the cousins example is a perfect like reminder of you may think the CJ stuff is crazy on the contract demands it makes all the sense in the world that they're like yeah that's what we think the number is right now in 26 so we'll wait till next year it's this number
or the the abyss of quarterback you know wilderness like that's that's basically the that's all they're just deciding is 60 million dollars worth it or going into the quarterback abyss the fact that they've already offered 50 tells you that if it's a decent year from them then it's going to be 60 it's gonna um yeah and now there's a part of it too with Houston where I would maybe look at them and give them a little bit of credit being like let's just make sure this isn't a disaster and then he's ruined which yeah they also have played a part in with this offensive line construction the last couple seasons yes absolutely all right both over on Houston all right what do you got all right next one I have I'll go I'll go commanders and I went alt under six and a half so real I have two altunders so just really the two two negative ones um I just this a there's a lot of carryover from the Eagles conversation in their offense and the commanders uh bringing that new coordinator shamanian uh no not shamanian this time uh this is David blow um and trying to get
into legends Oregon State Purdue yeah baby shamanian I actually like I've kind of like been aware of him he's a random coach I just person not even just coach person I've been aware of because he was a Oregon State guy um Mike Riley was his coach Paul Christmas my coach I was watching their film like just random stuff in tizen anyways anyways but uh no blow who like you mentioned was just playing was just a backup a couple years ago was just an assistant quarterback coach is now the OC they're trying to go more pro style you know shana handy whatever you want to call it uh which Jane danus has done like you did that Arizona State but still I'm a little bit a little bit worried about how living in that world like where that's the major of the offense uh I think that their offense line of course losing losing their mtuncle not fun um I was actually getting a little bit higher on the offensive line but they just kind can't get out their own way with injuries and also they have a new out new offensive line coach who just got promoted and he's only been a college guy and while I liked what he did in college at florida especially when I uh scouted a sire's torrents
I do think that that's a little worrisome the college to pro jump for a line coach is huge huge huge huge and that's always worrisome for me um just because it's yeah they might have the nice day one day two stuff but as season as a season goes along they have to install third down protections they kind of just don't have the rola decks that may be some of the other guys do not the same and I'm not like the the whole like it no college at all because Jeff Stowell was only a college guy and became an F all guy but I do think this was a transition period and now we're going with the first time OC and David blow you're looking at the rest of the staff I know they boosted up the defense I love sunny styles I think he's gonna be a star um and I do like some of the other pieces they added the DB rooms kind of beat up a little bit not not very high in DB room they weren't great on defense last year anyways so the defense I don't think it only gets so high even if I do like the some of the guys they added I just I have questions on the offense like I think living in a Stefan Dicks Terry McCorn world is not not the most fun one especially with a run game where I think it's gonna be your shot way to run back but I'm not sure so long rambly way to say like yeah pretty
kind of pessimistic about this whole makeup right now what about the rumors that Kelly O'Brien Fresno State could be calling place oh I have not heard that not many have um I was just taking it like other quarterbacks there was a Fresno State contingency in LA recently with their their poor showing against USC uh yeah that was I put in a tough spot no one's gonna get that reference no I know I don't worry about it you just take my week eight you'll just learn to ignore them all Bob and we've all right I've got two more here okay they're they're straight for I've been talking about the comp here of like the team could be better but I think the records were so I'll start with the wingland under 10 and a half I think they might even be better than they were and they made it to the Super Bowl last year but the talent disparity and whether that's the Campbell and both Drake May were hurt I don't know hurt a million times but I think both healthy the talent disparity of what Seattle was and what New England was because when you started like
run through the rosters you were like have you took the top 20 guys combined from both rosters is it 14 15 to 20 or Seattle's um you know I think I asked somebody like maybe 13 in a sentence like oh it's not that far uh it's it's probably about development with their own guys more so than it is like hey there's three players that we know are absolutely going to be better than they were last year so that's kind of where I'm out with it but maybe May is that good to just get you 11 wins because that's what we looked like last year yeah and I'm super high on May many ways they were hard for me when like we did our preview show and I think I guess 10 wins for them but but it was like a good 10 wins you know like it was like no it's like you say it's a better team the thing that worries me the most is defensive depth like if they have one injury it's like like in that happened last year but that's kind of what worries me more than anything it's like they have a linebacker injury they got some someone gets hurt up front I just they just don't have like a cool young guy that they okay we'll just drop this guy in or a contingency plan and then offensively I actually feel like they haven't had a cool young guy in
the edge forever no they haven't they had they got uh they got one year last year that was who was like a retread yeah but that was like that's a retread because of reputation yeah yeah it's like when you're a baseball fan and you you just go hey can we develop an awesome starting picture that throws 98 who's 22 years old and like you go the next seven years are going to be awesome like that's it's actually probably more important than edge but it's just it gets so boring when you don't have like can you just lie to me and tell me this guy had a ton of pressures like old miss gets insects please like yeah there's some underlying stack of look at so I can like go no no no he only has five sacks but yeah his winner is past rush win right pretty dang good I do like they have this undrafted guy like Elijah Ponder uh they I think they're starting on this year it's the second year now but I like him um if you want to have one guy that came maybe to keep an eye on I do like their offense I think their offense give me sick if I'm be honest I what about the big guy from Illinois though he's inside right give yaku uh yeah he's
more of a he's a friend of mine described him he plays like he's made of rocks and he meant that complimentary and derogatory like he's just he's heavy handed you know just a big like mall or but sometimes what's the ball go by him uh but he's not like kind of a bendy guy he's more like a pocket pusher kind of type more probably better against the run that checks out um all right we both have what you get two more I got one more yeah we got two more I have yari's all right here's my other alt under falcon's alt under six and aff winds plus 130 they just 30 yeah you moved it up one that's not bad yeah I know that's kind of I know they're in the weak division their defense so they invested in two quarterbacks in one draft and the next year two headdressers in one draft and none of those guys were playing for him to start the year right now so I and pretty important to have some past rush I like and the kid from Georgia was one of my favorite players in college football in 25 oh I know he's 24 excuse me yeah I'm not floyd um
I like yeah but he I know he and he was too on the walker he was perfect for that defense too because oberich does a lot of funky stuff up front and their defense coordinator um so I third downs like I know they can do stuff I don't know how they can live on early downs I don't know how they can stop the run I don't know who can win and rush the passer db wise they're okay like they have some cool young talent um but still just kind of like not all the way there and then offensively offense aligns not bad it's aging but who's playing quarterback who is winning by default two sweetest words in the english language like he's winning uh and that's like why they're going and I've seen two of this preseason and this is not the Miami Dolphins offense of the last couple of years this is a different type of offensive system the offense is gonna be built through Bajan anyways Bajan Robinson anyways but still just a lot of stuff that I'm like I'm squinting at where it's like this could go sour really quickly like down if they'll be able to throw the ball and if they don't if they are trying to rush the passer if they do have a lead or something like that I don't know if they can rush the passer unless they have the blitz so it's just a kind of a team
makeup I can't buy into and it's not like they can go oh we'll trow out penics and I'll be like yeah yeah yeah it's like it's all right you know and it's still I have some reservations about that as well like if you look at their roster right now the only quarterback that can take a cubic sneak is jack strand because two of doesn't take them because of concussions and everything and penics doesn't take them because he doesn't go under center and he has bad knees so it's it's just that kind of is my what kind of like one liner about where we're at with the Falcons right now so I'm pretty pessimistic on this year no cubies sneaks take the under on that I it's jack strand getting a start this year I overrun I'm saying one start I'm saying he gets into our one game just look at the health of the other guys it's it's a bad back concussions bad news I don't think there's any way he doesn't start a game this year has to start they're not going to be good the tape from preseason you love them it was terrific it's two it's penics but I'm still holding out hope on like when the penics thing is right how beautiful that ball is I agree but it feels a little bit like
even when you watch him in Washington you go so what's going to happen here because like if he ends up being on the team USA flag football team like we're winning the gold oh yeah oh yeah I don't I mean columns worth who's been known to be excited about some plays but like there's a reason Collins worth is almost orgasmic when he's watching penics throws because it's that much fun and I even remember being like don't say he's going to be good don't say and I kind of was like I think he's going to be like can he kind of figure this out but god it is a lot of like I remember like the first time seeing some of the early spread stuff in the big 12 like 2007 2008 watching the person and I went oh this is why nobody drafts these guys yeah because you're just sitting back there like doing QB drills and it's like and if and if there's any anything goes wrong just throw the ball away there's no creation in the NFL you have to create a he plays like a 39 year old quarterback with like you know like he that's how he plays he doesn't scramble he doesn't move in the pocket like
him and Rogers probably move similar now in the pocket and that's not a good thing because that's only going to get worse so that's what was always my reservation and he for a guy that can chuck it and I agree with you because his his best throws are up there and his I mean he's got plus plus arm it's just that he doesn't really work over the middle either like which usually indicates you lack timing and maybe anticipation because then it's more of a guy he's had such a strong arm his whole career I see it open now I can throw and the NFL is all right this guy's about to come open now I throw it and hopefully that that's where I hit the window with him it feels like it's like everything he has to see open and then he throws a freaking rocket that's amazing but yeah I'm I last year kind of got me the the Vikings game I actually was kind of had the same feelings you day where I was like hey this maybe could work after I've been kind of low on him and then now I'm back to kind of like where I originally was where it's like he can't play like a 40 year old at 25 you know it does remind you of like the guy who's just old and there's a pick up football game because I'm automatically be because I've blown out all my and he's nice to 1998 right yeah that's
what you think the Phoenix and marino play a lot of like marino 98 the other thing though that I loved about pettics is when indiana had that weird start a few years ago when he was there I remember going back multiple years now they hadn't played anybody but it was Indiana and again pre-signity where it was like hey look at indiana they're out there battling he was an athlete and then he develops into this incredible passer where I didn't like I understood the art talent and all that stuff but I was like this is kind of a mess and I don't think they're going to be any good and the schedule has been kind of easy but it was just exciting and he was a big part of that and then he's getting hurt all the time and then he ends up being the guy in debor's offense with grub where you're like okay this is maybe this can work even at the next level like if we're talking about my first impression to him as a quarterback I'm like well this guy's never playing in the NFL to then that run yeah I'm look I'm selfishly holding out a little hope because I think when it looked right but then you know if you're game planning you go every single thing has to be perfect for this to work out and that's already at a disadvantage all right my final one it's
straightforward it's the bears it's under nine and a half that's minus 125 if you move it up to 10 and a half it's minus 210 so that's not really worth it the defense is not good the advanced stuff is better on the than the yardage stuff so maybe but we know it's the toughest schedule and I it same thing as New England I think they could be a better team if Caleb takes what I think will be the next step the stats may not show it I think it'll just be how do you feel at the end of the year I think we could feel good about this I just the turnover thing is historic plus 22 in the turnover margin if you go back the previous five seasons the best team in the NFL the best number on turnover margin was between plus 11 or plus 13 in Chicago is it plus 22 last season yep first an exception rate they were but then if you look at every under like you said underlying stats aren't horrible horrible but this is this kind of is it the first an exception rate 21st and EPA per play an EPA gets weighted more on situations turnovers and everything that you know scores so you can
have like a really big offensive EPA number but you can have some bad yardage numbers so like the traditional offensive rankings can look bad but really the EPA speaks to taking advantage of kind of the big play stuff that we're talking about with Kevin Clark or capitalizing kind of on touchdown and field bill situations correct yes and I I really like more than anything I like success rate which is really and people think that's a nerd stat coaches came up with that and at least the 90s I learned success rate in 1997 I'm not even kidding when I was eight years old Brian Billick used it in Minnesota so because he taught my dad and so but people see success right they go on nerds down like freaking coaches invented this and and success rate is 50% like more or less there's different versions but the one that generally people use now which is more EPA based is 50% of the yards on first down 50% of the yards on second down and then all of the yards 100% convert on third and fourth down so right first and 10 get five yards you know second and eight get four yards like that is what a successful play is and to me I think that's more sticky
but there's more holes I can poke in this because then you want to expose the plays to add onto that but success rates getting on base it's on base percentage and that means I'm moving the ball successfully I'm moving the ball efficiently I'm staying ahead of the chains really staying ahead of the chains and I'm doing it over and over and over again and then last year the bears were 30th and success rate and they're bad against the past and the rush so that meant if you're high in EPA 21st high-ish and 30th and success rate that means you're taking advantage of big plays turnovers you know that but if you're good in both that means you're doing everything well um this kind of continuing like when we talked about the bangles a couple weeks ago was that Joe Burl always super high success rate always middling explosive play rate and so his EPA can kind of stay a little lower sometimes because of that so that there's a bounce like you want to get home runs and get on base and that's what explosive plays and kind of success rate are combined great explanation uh I love the success rate stuff I love that Brian Billick was you two just in a room and they're like like we leave him alone
he's eight uh your last one last one I have the Vikings over eight and a half I also like them to win the division at plus 450 um just because if there's a muck in the north or a muck in the division I think all teams are valid and I do think the Vikings are valid I mean a bit on the one that's the highest odds uh but I think the coward thing is gonna work I do I maybe have talked myself into it but I wrote an article to spring on it and I think that really helped me do it uh just I don't think people realize how bad the quarterback played was there last year like how bad offence of line and tatters defense still a very good unit disruptive on the brine flores but Kyler since he's entered the league is 17th in success rate same as Justin Herbert he's better than Aaron Rodgers maker may field jalen herds Trevor Lawrence Sam Darnold Russell Wilson CJ Stroud bonix and people are going acting like he's like the worst quarterback that's walked this earth and I understand do I want
Kyler Murray leading my team face of the franchise you know hardest worker all that stuff no but to win games in a one year rental mercenary role hell yeah let's do it strap up let's go and maybe this is again bringing back to my late 90s Minnesota Vikings days and maybe I just live in this world hey Warren Moon for ad Johnson Jeff George all right now we'll go with dot take call pepper and we'll roll with him but I think they can I think this could be a very good offense like sneaky top 10 offense uh the run game last year is the best it's been under koc they're sixth and early down rushing success rate uh which is easily the best days had so good run I love the juwan jenning signing really good blocker like I know that's again this is niche stuff but if you want to be like a playoff team this is stuff that adds up and I think Kyler and Koc got a little chip on their shoulders where I think they're gonna launch some stuff so I'm pretty yeah Vikings or another team I've kind of had some offseason pop commitment to I just think Kyler's gonna get hurt sorry fair fair fair fair that's very fair
it's only played less two full seasons three two or three yeah look at least there's something in there the old man jenny thing of like we saw a season not that long ago where it looked like he was carrying Arizona um so if you get back to that he stays healthy I just think he gets hurt in ways where you're like did anyone get hit on that play like yeah I don't know he's down uh all right that'll do it for that with NFL Sunday ticket and YouTube TV it doesn't matter who's coming over and it doesn't matter what team they love and need to see every play every game changing moment of NFL Sunday football action is right here you won't miss anything and you'll be the best post ever it's you and your friends watching four games at once it's every Sunday game regardless of where it's being played it's pure NFL bliss as it happens right in your living room every game every Sunday all in one place and right now it's just eight payments of $30 a month for new users look Sunday is going to be awesome because I'm get got that multi view up all day long on all the
TVs trying to get my eyes and as many teams as I can possibly get you know because look it's the first impression all over again in 2026 a second impression opportunity though with a game this week with Seattle hosting new England or rematch of the Super Bowl um the lines is actually only like three and a half which I'm a little surprised by because I do think that there's a gap in talent that we saw in the Super Bowl now if you want to go with the May Campbell combo injury or all of these months to prepare for this rematch that new England should be motivating coming in I just don't think there is good Seattle and I think we saw that very recently um but I can't wait like I'm really thrilled that that's kind of by itself so it won't get lost in all the traffic the other ones but YouTube TV is done an incredible job making sure that traffic doesn't really exist with their multi view new users pay $240 or eight non-cancellable payments of $30 a month first charge it purchase availability varies with NFL Sunday ticket for out of market games and YouTube TV for local and national games YouTube TV required digital only games excluded terms and embargoes apply
device and content restrictions applied in multi view commercial use excluded no refunds let's do a little college football rapid fire then all right um I'm gonna just throw things at you can throw them back at me I'm gonna start with Bama so Bama not in the preseason top 10 for the first time in 17 years they had a rushing stat which I've talked about in the beginning of the show by myself how bad they were last year it was the worst rushing season recorded for yards per game since anytime World War II was in the graphic and I think that's when they started collecting the records that's probably not a good thing uh they ran it for 227 the positives like e.j. crow all that running back is ridiculous his balance is ridiculous so they put up 48 on ECU by the way ECU fans traveling it was loud in there for the pirates I saw that it was watching that game I'm going what the hell like did they outfit someplace to look like Tuscaloosa neutral site here it manned by a bunch of tickets and it was wild how how loud it was for ECU
so Keelon gets the star you know all everything five star I think it was only behind underwood in his recruiting class and I think because it's his first game you don't want to put a ton into it and then maybe he's playing because they still know that this offensive line he just might be more talented in mock which is totally understandable too but whatever you want to say about that first game he's got to get real football he is he is a very classic like I am so gifted I'm going to dance back here all the time and you can do it against ECU you you you can if he is playing like that against the big boys I actually think it's going to be ugly and I know every Bama fan can say hey it's the first game shut up back off and you'd be totally right to say that but I'm I watched that entire game when probably I turned off like late third quarter I watched enough of the game to see those dropbacks or I was like oh this is somebody that's like I'm so gifted I can dance back here all play and not pay attention to the routes and I'm probably just going to run and he's such a great runner that's all going to work out but like at the end of the year cannot look like
that for them to be a real team now I I watched back and that was my first note I go they look sloppy in the passing game and the quarterbacks eyes were everywhere that was my like kind of just a neutral assessment of it all and on top of it when they did succeed Ryan Coleman Williams is dropping the football they get a drop wide open on the right side he had a drop in the end zone that could have been intercepted so we lost the touchdown it was offside so the play wasn't going to count anyway and then on the end around he drops the handoff so yeah I know he had the one miraculous play where our mind of you Ryan Williams shiftingness once he gets out of the open field of two years ago where you're just like what is this guy right but an awful debut for him on just stupid and they make mistakes they keep making stupid mistakes where they look like they're just not and I know it's post-sabin so it's totally unfair for anybody but there's just a lack of cleanliness to their game or I know people going through they score 48 points they they want 48 10 we're looking at Bama is hey is this a playoff team and that's why I'm going to be harder on them than say Louisville yeah
it's totally fair too all right so talk about success rate and college you should have much juicier success rates and EPA's and especially if you're going against East Carolina his passing success rate was 47% it can't be sub 50 against East Carolina like you're going it should be 50% minimum some of the quarterbacks we've been laughing at laugh we I should say the general football Twitter you know social media stuff those guys are throwing 54% success rates you know 56% and I even looked this up too was they had yeah their EPA without explosives was negative six and a half so when they passed the ball so they were negative points when they threw the ball that's how bad they were throwing the ball and you mentioned him hold onto the ball the very first third down he's under forever the first third down I think he he makes a guy missing the backfield and then he runs for like 15 20 yards yeah he has to get rid of that ball because that is that's a it's a hot read and they were by design making that guy hot so he has to throw and he just he was not throwing that he was like I just got to make this guy miss and it's like no no throw it throw it
that's going to kill you so yeah that was my exact observation I do think the defense does have some talent Yonze Pierre the air is awesome he was awesome last year he's he's the guy yeah but offensively they look sloppy I thought the I thought the quarterbacks eyes I thought his eyes were everywhere which is not what you want to see and not not people think sometimes it's coast to coast usually that's not a good thing the quarterback goes left and then all the way goes right and then maybe goes left back that's not a good thing because you want to stay on one side of the field unless you have to or unless there's a progression working back and every third down drop back his eyes were going back and forth on concepts that I know are simpler concepts so yeah I think throwing the balls can be a struggle for them all season wow yeah because it was like first impression it was like wow have you this guy looks like he's just wanting to play at times the reason I wanted to talk about this is because I watched the highlight shows and they would show his he's spectacular there's a reason why he was this high he's insane how gifted he is and so when you see the package
of all of that you're like well here we go and I'm telling you if you watch that game you're like I know they scored 48 but again all right I'll try to be a little more rapid here do you have one for me is it first impression first impressions yeah well we're going some 2027 QB first impressions we'll start with the guy at the top not just alphabetical but archmaning I thought he was good I thought that's exactly what you want to see I thought the interception was explainable actually I thought the design on it um backside I don't know if you saw it but backside safety ran over they're supposed to be a route that captures him and nobody captures him it was a stick knot concept so it's one of those were the design and the quarterback are both that fault there but I thought he was throwing because he's not expecting no never in a million years is that guy's supposed to be there because he's supposed to be captured by a route so you're supposed to and then you see the touchdown he has in the second half they run a similar concept that same safety it's they called a poach safety he starts working and then arch looks them off and then throws the they throw an in-breaker to camcola and I think it was um but that that's what's supposed to happen
because you're supposed to capture him and if he cheats over then you punish him but they had no route to punish him they just ran a fade and I think maybe it was because of two minutes or something like that but anyways but what I'm saying is that the interception was explainable more than like uh that was a dumb play how can this guy be the number one pick kind of play um I thought if we just go down I mean I could just go with this I thought sellers look good don't they more hey by the way real quick on sellers like they're missing sellers a slot receiver I believe that they expect to start he's going to be out for the entire year I'm not worried about South Carolina's weapons at all half the watch I know it was not a great opponent but there's South Carolina always feels like they've got a handful of guys they can throw the football too and even with sellers not linoars the other one out because it was a concern something you were reading about like hey that's a that's a big loss there weapons wise with you on South Carolina and still didn't play in the game by the way yeah no I was those other guys trying to watch this morning but yeah he I was like everything you could hope I thought even the sack he took it was like it was good it was a good sack he stepped up and it was
like it wasn't like him bailing in the back of the pocket which is something I did think he improved upon last year that kind of got I know he took a ton of sacks but that was more of that line um Dante Moore was a little underwhelming uh and again it was kind of the things that was you shot it was 378 I couldn't believe that when I was done with the game I'm like he's there for 378 totally shot it wasn't it might maybe it was because you spent like two hours of the game going like what's wrong with him yeah so I'm with you like the box scores incredible I didn't feel that way when I was done at all all my thoughts were like kind of like private notes when I was watching that game was like man just give it to the ball man like try it there like step up like me so yeah I'm right there with you um but that's why that's more concerning for me is that was my concerns going into the season was pressure she kind of likes he favors the outside so I wanted to work over the middle when he's there's times where he does work over the middle when he's comfortable with the concept and you could see it even this weekend but still I want to see that uh a little bit more so you know just some hesitancies there like I think heat pressure really gets to him and that's always
a red flag for me so I just want to keep my eye on that uh Drake Lindsey I thought everything you go hope for there we go either way yeah he's a hot man he's he's drew blood so a reencarton it like I mean that's so that's how I feel about him I I'm really high on him uh Mester maker was a little underwhelming I haven't watched that one back so but he was underwhelming I I could say I'm a 28 guy anyways and then I haven't done my Mester maker take take take yeah okay okay yeah well talking I had a very contentious draft for quarterbacks to see how many we've drafted so I took Drake I took Mester maker he laughed me out of the room on Mester maker laughed me out of the but he hasn't seen the rice tape I don't think so man it's he's a weird Mester maker you like him more than he does yeah I he's a weird feel for the game like in a one of those things you can't teach he's just knows that a layer of ball but again that's why I kind of kept him at 31 as opposed to like top 15 or something like that my big boy because I was like I could see this maybe not get better but I could see this also getting better with more reps yada yada so he's still a question mark for me I
he's gonna be a 28 guy I feel like I should just like say that and just like keep him out my big board for now just I personal now it makes sure so I have to keep investing in the whole thing um I feel like the sellers game was another example though of like the people that love him like I I cut something up that I'm gonna send you where it's just a simple like him getting out of the pocket but then staying with his body like parallel to the throw and you're like oh this is why the people freak out about him but then I also think there's some easy misses with him that I think his detractors would point to those in the same game where they're pulling up a ton of points being like hey this is why this guy is in the first round this is why because I've talked to people are like you guys are nuts about sellers like he's not this you love him McShay loves him um I think mench likes sellers even more than McShay does mench who does the podcast of McShay who I've known for like 20 years and love uh because there's a crispness even with moors underwhelming game when it's right there's a crispness a crispness to more I think dude some of those chambles throws last night that first one
deduce that they did an incredible job of McRoy explaining like he's throwing to this window against this cover three and he knows but it's like blind that ball is in front of the corner behind the receivers behind him I love chambles I anticipate right like would you agree there's a crispness to a trident ad to a more that maybe even with sellers that doesn't and maybe it's because they gave up I think the third most sacks in college football last year no I agree this is if I were sellers again we're talking about room for air or anticipating the throw and everything sellers has the top tier arm so he knows that he has more window to get rid of the ball but they NFL you don't get that so it still has room for improvement where I see it and this I think is where you kind of feel it I guess it's a classic example like watch their feet listen to their feet like sellers always has an extra hitch if you ever notice he goes one two three four five hitch hitch as opposed to just one hitch um and that's always uh that's scary because if the guy
doesn't have the arm that those are picks all day in the NFL so that's where you see like Jackson darts got that going on right now a little extra hitches because he's got to see it a little bit so that's where you see the crispness watch chambles one two three ball freaking out and that and he's got a good arm so it looks even better because he has a good arm with anticipation what it's right would you get it at man you're like I was a little bit every red flag with him I don't care if he's old I don't care if he's small I love him I love him I really do I really like chambles a lot uh oh yeah then we uh dairy men saw had a nice game as well but that was kind of a seven on seven but he he looked at everything you hope like uh if you if you are high on him I'm comparing him to kind of Kirk cousins a little bit um chambles my comparisons Jeff Garcia hey if you if you were on the robots if you told the team it's sitting at 10 hey you're gonna draft Kirk cousins you'd be like you don't trade up you know like we'll take him at eight right that's all right so off of that after that I think I have to the connect with that um because of Mensa in that game I feel like I
heard it on a handful of games this year when a receiver made a really sick play there can be a little conference bias there can be a little home bias a little bit there should never be a game that Jeremiah Smith isn't playing in where some announcer says that this other receiver is the best receiver in the country and I heard it not just about Malachite Tony I heard about a couple others Malachite Tony is the only receiver we're all allowed to happen during a broadcast um because again we know how especially is I can't believe that he was a freshman last year because he plays the game like he's old too right that one score we scored twice like you know like that like you know where he scores the guys hit each other and they will look around him and score again but he did so calmly like he's like yeah I do this every week hey does he or mine you anyone I mean I'm been some Peter work in some Peter work Peter Warwick sort of my all time Jesse's telling Peter Warwick stories is my favorite thing ever um but then you know Peter Peter just didn't have the NFL career so no one's everyone's gonna want to be like well that doesn't you can't use that guy
when Peter was probably one of the best college football players I've ever seen in my entire life that's sugar balls like maybe a college football fan I fucking love Peter Warwick yeah but that's who that's because I'm like people are gonna say Thai Rik for whatever but they're different it's just a difference too big for Thai Rik is yeah well Thai Rik is only like one well Tariq Shiro is stout he's like 510 190 I think Tony's frame is bigger I think Tony doesn't way as much as I thought he did I at least listed I think he was like 188 when I list I could be wrong this could just be me job time I had been wrong but I don't know what I'm gonna find right now when I look him up here you're right 511188 aka baby Jesus you know what Jesus I'm okay with it I'm okay with baby Jesus right adult Jesus would be potentially okay this is a black ball over again this is right you know d'Anté Thomas um stand for on the other side I hate Stanford sucking at football I don't root for Stanford necessarily obviously have some connections between Stanford Steve and other alums esteemed alums that have shown up on some trips from like Jesus Christ this crew
uh shout out Tony but I them sucking and also not being tougher smart drives me crazy and I hit up Steve I go what happened and this is year eight they've been in the ACC for three years but they sucked before the ACC thing this is going to be eight years of them sucking and at least when they work great because obviously they had a bunch of years or they were great you always new Stanford was gonna be tough out because they're gonna be smart they're gonna be tough and the tackles were gonna be good and there was gonna be a bunch of tight ends and they were gonna run like they were just going to do stuff that sucked to play against and maybe they don't win 10 games but it's now they are like a dormat and I and hit up Steve I go what is up with your tackles he's like well they're both backups in their first and second start ever so they're not even supposed to be the guys and these guys have never played so that might have been part of the issue but they don't even look like a power four team and I hate that I hate that it's been this long because I just like when Stanford is good because it's for whatever reason like their whole concept and their identities a football team
it's so different when it was good and I just enjoyed them being different than everybody else old school kind of pro formation stuff hey we're we're always gonna be smart upfront and I'm ramping and raving here about maybe the worst team in the ACC so I'll stop no it's I get it it's like like there's some of those they're not the powerhouses but maybe the ones that you can always hang your head on okay Iowa I know I'm getting with Iowa you know every time I watch them every year I know I'm getting with Iowa but they haven't had that dip they've they've dipped to maybe no Iowa just broke the whole husband hovering around 10 wins get into 10 wins eight nine 10 shot at one I mean my Wisconsin but Wisconsin team I feel like I'm always kindred spirits with Stanford because like when we had a nice run late odds they were going they were that was the Andrew Luck all that too as well so I always just feel like we played a somewhere styles we watch each other's film a lot I know that for a fact so I always I'm agree with you when it feels like they're not the ones where it's like oh okay they might not win this game like they play a team USC but hey they're gonna make it a one score game and it's gonna be ugly and they might have a
shot in the fourth quarter but now it's like by half time it's game you know it's like it's not even making the second half's interesting and so I think that's maybe where your frustrations lies that the second half's are dead for Stanford now I even looked at their win probability in that game they had no shot I don't think they even jumped above 75% in the entire game they hate the probability on this show just so you know just a little one no just we hate win probability so oh you're down since we'll reference it at times but oh I hate when people just do like look at the graph like that but this but if you see the other team came back and you have a shot that's when you kind of know when the the wind spreads baked in it's like oh that team never got a shot to win and to be fair to the boys out there at the farm you know this this is a complete overhaul after a bunch of bad years so pretty to see I'm not gonna go into last year they're trying to figure it out I like their quarterback to be honest you know the man hat meech guy do you see Andrew Lux fit do you like his fit did I did it was very positive with the half-time he's like I had a lot of
football left to play here so in fairness again they're trying to overhaul this thing in the fly but I just yeah and I'm not even a Stanford fan I'm just a college football fan watching him get trucked I'm like this is just wrong this shouldn't look like this I have one quick one and then maybe a little longer one because I haven't even talked about that Michigan game yet so let's finish with Michigan together but I have just in a side it's week one week zero and week one and I already cannot stand like 90% of the cornerbacks on Saturdays you can't be doing the seat belt celebration after an incompletion when you're down 40 fucking points man number three for Clemson Elliott Washington you can sit there and say hey this guy's staying in the fight if you want to spend it positively I just don't think you can be getting humiliated Matt Rooge on the Saturday turning the sideline after an incompletion now he looks like he's pretty good like he looks like he's a pro I don't know when he would be after anything like that but all Saturday corners that have I mean the corners have the accountability of F1 drivers every single incompletion and most of them have nothing to do with their coverage they're over there locking up the seat belt thumbs
down into the whole thing and you're like dude it was he threw it out of bounds because of the past rush right like stop it's out of control I'm a former quarterback so you know you're not Swiss my arm here it's my least it's been my least favorite things since ever in corners over reacting to an overthrow or not usually an overthrow for me but you know I miss pass or a pressure or something of that sort so I'm right there with also the lack of originality with celebration sometimes like when you're first starting to see that okay it's cool it's like when cam word got big everyone's doing his you know everyone's doing that and it's just like come up with your own stick like that's cool or to me the seat belt thumbs down thing it's like they got all got together they unionized and were like we're only doing this happen overnight it was I mean I happened a couple years ago but it was like everyone's just started doing but that's the thing it but when everyone does it that makes you I don't know that's just how I think the things that well if everyone's doing it shouldn't you want to do something different and make yourself stand out I don't know I just think they'll copy each other celebrations and then I mean they're even
have the the new rule change for the first down stuff someone got popped last week it was like how in all this time can't you think of a new first down signal than that and if you knew it's gonna be a penalty you know if you're doing the guns or anything like that so yeah I'm with you let's talk about Bryce Underwood that was an interesting game I think in the beginning you've got Todd Blackledge talking to Jordan Palmer who we like a lot on this pod who worked with Bryce Underwood it said hey last year was a disaster was his feet and then at first drive and even McShade tweeted it out he's like here we go right footwork all this stuff and I don't know if it's just the footwork but then I started looking for it and then when everything started to fall in a part I think they were 0 for 5 in their first 5 third down attempts it wasn't even close then he had one do was left it was like a third and three and I watched his feet his feet were terrible and it was into the dirt and it was there was no chance and I'm like okay but is it just his feet he had an interception that was out of bounds on a third down throw that was a disaster
idea for him to do he had another pick that could have been a pick six because there's some dudes on Western Michigan that can play defense by the way some really good players I think for them being in the fight all night long and then he had stepped out of bounds and that was a terrible throw there was a third and like five in the middle of field that he had a receiver I think on his left side it was like he was trying to pretend that he wasn't looking only at him but he was only looking at him which is the price under what every want to talk about with his feet he doesn't look at any of the other receivers so he was even it looked like he was trying to get off what his primary was but he couldn't and then everybody's watching him in the defensive backfield and it's a car crash as soon as the ball is out because everybody's closing down because like we know exactly here you're going to throw it to and then of course they put the second back on which I know is unfortunate but I listen to the 911 call that they released and it sounds like these guys get a ride even if everybody's still pissed about the whole thing and he hits on the Hail Mary and then he's running around and I'm like this makes it so much weirder because he just had an awful game
after an offense that looked terrible last year and then I give Michigan credit it seems like they're handling this with more of an open mind as opposed to hey we won the game on a Hail Mary from our guy with all this talent so everybody back off it doesn't seem to be the message coming at a anurber you know the Kyle winning hands quote on underwood job security it's not something that's infinite at some point we've got to turn a corner and that's not that's bold man that's basically saying to wide open to me I mean that that's just saying we're looking at all answers uh everything you're bringing up is what I see and I know how highly talented he was I'm willing to wave away his freshman year because of just everything going on in Michigan but I even when I watched the last year I was like okay he's a great athlete I see that he's big and all that but also I could tell he's thinking into pocket and and again freshman totally won't he's a guy that really needed a red shirt but that's never going to happen when you pay a guy seven times as much money as Kyle Murray um it's making right now he's making 1.3 million this year um but I really watch him it's that he's always
late as a throw on throws because I think this is a guy again learning an offense or what I've seen with guys learning offense or having struggles learning offenses is that they hear the play they get the play call and blah blah blah blah trail right blue sword x dig and all they hear in their head is x dig all they so all and I always like I don't know with other concepts all I hear is that one route that got tacked and I again this is just me just context clips but that's what I see when I watch him is that it's a guy that's not comfortable with the whole concept of a play which again for a guy starting so early it's like well hopefully he was learning something you know the spring he's probably in all the first team reps but to me it just looks like he's behind the April on every dropback when they limit to a one or two man route like a play action or something you could see a little bit more where he can actually like okay I'm fine the throws because it's so in narrows down his reads and I when I watch him all those dropbacks every third down is an adventure because his eyes like you said he doesn't want to stare at the one route that he knows or he does or the route that he does
knows should come open on that play just now there's a lack of feel and this is kind of the opposite of Mestemaker where Mestemaker has a weird feel for the position I know the last game wasn't like that but these other guys that I watch like even you know arch or something like that they move in the pocket they have a feel to get a guy open a feel to like look off a guy just a when to layer or throw in under what looks like he's just it's like a lift every throw is just a rocket you know every throw because he's thrown it late and he knows when he's thrown it late I got to throw it hard and yeah it's a trickle down effect from there but I I've watched him after a year and I've been nothing but underwhelmed when I've watched him I was shocked at winning him that quickly but that's why they brought him in and then you go what Tommy car behind him you know who's fourth on the depth chart for Michigan I tell me I actually do but I don't expect you to know it no I do because I was looking at their depth chart yesterday you with herp street yes yes yes I did know that yes I did because he didn't
go to a house that you went to Michigan that's right well to roll prior to he was working out with Lane Kiffin that's right yeah they're all over remember what to roll prior said that herp street was a fake buck I wait and he finds this out man we got two trail prior references and one one show the trail prior on doing was was in your home base Van Pell and I on the sideline for Madison that's when I said VP at Wanda's that's right I was we did a show and uh and then we watched for all prior person from the sideline and after a few series Van Pell turned and he was like so he can't do it huh very good JJ Watts breakout game that was uh that was his big break yeah like three sacks that game or something like that just absolutely abused him uh no that was that's my favorite game ever that was an odd baits one of my favorite games I remember this too oh opening kickoff taking it to the house was like yeah right it couldn't be any better yeah I know that was thank you for letting me reminisce that's that was my favorite and then we played
Iowa a couple weeks or a week later and that was a barn burner too that was an awesome game too so that was that was a highway probably my college life they rushed the field and there was a kid I don't know which program he was affiliated with but he was kind of just putting his arms out to the side and he wasn't commanding a ton of authority and I remember Van Pell walked up to him and was like you're doing the best job you could you could possibly do and the kid just kind of kind of looked up through his coke bottle glasses and it was just like nodding thanks that anyway that'll do it for our show today uh thanks man thanks for doing this and look up forward next Monday when we have some NFL to talk about uh they tights every Monday there's something for everyone when it comes to Reese's we talk about football a lot right a lot of units two units with a peanut butter cup peanut butter and chocolate hell I think sometimes I could just eat the peanut butter but I'm glad the chocolates there is what is is really you know like let's not kid ourselves here uh there's a process there's tradition it's been around for
decades these two components trust each other but the reason when I talk about it being some kind of tradition I get a bunch of products into my house in the script I'm supposed to say something about why Reese is my favorite you're thinking well he's just saying that because it's an ad but here's a true story I get my product sent for me to do an ad down at Manhattan Beach and my birthday box shows up for my father with a package of king size peanut butter cups he knew that if I was ever going to splurge and allow myself to have something like that that it was going to be Reese's peanut butter cups because that's what we used to do sometimes he'd make me split one with him I get a little bit older I was able to just hey you're on your own one for you one for me two cups of peace this math is way better but I was laughing because I had this bag of product to do the ads and then I was like man my dad knew when it comes to getting down to business with something that tastes this good and as a treat he knew the exact thing to pick for me Reese's the official candy partner of Barstle Sports go to Reese's wherever you shop you want details bye I drive a Ferrari 355
cabriolet what's up I have a ridiculous house in the south fork I have every toy you can possibly imagine and best of all kids I am liquid so now you know what's possible let me tell you what's like advice rr at gmail.com Kyle and sorority here I guess we want to do a little story time so should we not I don't know how we're stamping these should we call it Kyle time and then I just to re intro life advice I think it's just part of life last time yeah I don't I don't have a ton and I'm apologizing about the voice I almost wanted to take a vow of silence today I was in a drive-through last night coming back from the airport and the lady could not understand me my wife was laughing so hard shout out to Taco Bell for getting us through that um you go always do not do you think it's because you were hanging out with 20 Dominicans and you were just starting you the final cow was eight to pass law was that I can't that included two white guys the final cow was 18 so yeah and one jibani how many whites total two me being one yeah yeah I think we fit
in really well though um oh yeah I you know we we you know you're a little Spanish in you we we couldn't get to the Airbnb for a couple hours so we went to a restaurant and these guys like brought dice and they're sea low going out at the tables I'm like all right so we're we're we're chilling right I got I can do this no fights um nothing like dramatic like that I did miss judge where the shallow end of the pool was but um I kind of came down on the slope there that was tough that's a scrape that's fine it's just a little scrape um start skateboarding together yeah um yeah I'm trying to think what else what else really happened I guess I Marshall Scottsdale we did I did pop in a bar so that was probably my favorite place I I thought it was gonna be a little bit I asked big cat like what the deal is with it and he's like it's a big shot I did I did um I didn't ask him to come hang out with me there I just asked him what the deal is and it was like a favorite thing like going there it was great it was awesome what were you hoping he was gonna do I made a call get over there right now that's what I was hoping
um we bailed on golf we did top golf instead um a bunch of guys in the morning we're like yeah we'll do top golf it'll be easier we were actually on a golf course though and they were fucking golf balls flying into the like the pool area it was it was kind of scary but like these guys I just didn't want to have a bunch of like a couple of four sums of first timers so I was like all right we'll do top golf we said we set up for three o'clock perfect then they bring the fucking dominoes out and it's like that like wipe their brains they're like dude we're playing dominoes I'm like I just booked two bays at golf top golf what the fuck guys they're just like sorry so three of us went the lady felt so bad for me at top golf did she let me cancel the other two bays um but that was good it was a fun time and then I guess just going out really felt inadequate in my fashion sense uh I kind of felt like Ryan was bag lunch like these dudes were trading shirts and collones and nobody wanted to trade with me that was a little bit of a bummer but like these guys were pulling out like five hundred dollar dress shoes and I'm here in my fucking LL bean shirt
and some who's gonna say the Dominican quota for Tommy Bahama gear is high but I only brought the Tommy out once but I just like they had the irons going and they were like swapping shit and like collones and I thought you know I'm a dg light blue guy I thought that's something these guys were like snow wear near expensive enough for me so I did feel a little inadequate in that department but sometimes you just got to be yourself yeah we'll get you outfitted with a higher in cologne Kyle I like it I like it I just didn't even realize like that's like not even a starter for some guys so um but yeah it was great those guys uh those guys were fun I can't wait for the wedding I have a couple follow ups okay on the bar stool thing you texted me too yes just you yeah and I was a little more forward with you I was not forward with the plan at all you can be as forward as you need to yeah I need that's that's our relationship I don't and I knew exact I got the text I knew exactly what was going on here like I'm 20 deep
I work for bar stool they did give me a discount on the check though I'm the way out I was like if I work for barstress anything happened he's like oh shh hurt oh there you go you didn't really check me out that much I was like I got you email I could show you my email if you want but she was like no I have trust okay no let's have that be a part of these things there though not oh yeah yeah batch the rest I even batch the parties a lot of penis draws you know what I think they've just looked around decided that wasn't the place for penis draws I'd be the place yeah penis draws I told you to text mincee that was my only response is I know what you wanted you want it there too you want to be able to tell your boys hey I work here and this is a home base and like we want the corner spot and we want to do all this and you know the whole deal and I don't have any there's nothing there like I don't you asking me I was like I don't that was kind of the part in the day where when I was at the frolic room I just start firing off phone calls so the fact that I only did that was minor miracle I think it was fine it was totally fine
and I knew where your head was at I just knew I didn't have a solution for you what was the big cat what did I just basically asked to happen I'm like I'm in Scottsdale I just wrote past this place barstress Scottsdale what's the deal with this place my bachelor party there's 18 guys 16 to minute probably in the little run down and he was just like fine request yeah the demographic and he just gave me the you know what it is and I was like I'm not even going to reply to that all right okay good what he sent you a link to the website no he just told me yeah it's like yeah I was like is like are there guys that work like what what is this basically here's the after five is there franchise like you know they pay a fee to be barstress Scottsdale yeah okay but they took care of you felt did you feel a little special because I think that's what all of us would want you just want to be able to tell your boys like I got this yeah yeah yeah but they felt a little special little bit yeah okay okay it's all we're looking for safe yeah I will say the the weather thing was like done the Friday after we had slept there like noon like not why are we here in
in Phoenix Scottsdale just why are we here now so there was a couple of times where the heat was a bit oppressive um desert in the summer stuff I'm shocked that place is that popular I've been there in the summer and I just go I know there's other ways to live yeah you're like the opposite of a snowburgy people that live there love it like they absolutely love it and I but then I'll ask if like you can't they love like three or four months you just can't be outside the middle they're like you just can't they love the dry heat joke dude's love that one yeah I think we were there for a final four maybe like years and years ago and that's how it was there two years ago for fun it was oppressively hot in April yeah I was like okay interesting I remember I left the hotel to go for a hike and it was a little later and the guy was like no he's like you shouldn't go no thanks man he's like it's too late in the day and now you like the sun's gonna be down on the backside of like where you're coming and I went yeah if I were a
nerd maybe that's it that's not you're not the person that's out that the thing is though is that if it is dark and you turn your ankle you'd be sitting there with the coyotes until the Sun up yeah exactly Kyle the ratlers okay get some life advice stuff for you here um you know what somebody just checked in and we'll just keep the message out there audience continues to grow so in case anyone ever missed it the countdown method Ryan's Steve Kyle I'll keep it short the countdown method while lifting is a game changer it's allowed me to further my gains I'm now finishing sets more consistently thank you to the emailer and you guys from mentioning this way back when again if you don't know that's counting down instead of up um I just I had it happen to me the other day right I was my mind was telling me to stop eight to one you know what two it was like hey we're almost done this is awesome and my mind was shutting my body down I wish I didn't know how to count just for the gains like he's pretty good with English but he just like he doesn't know how to count he's an adult
although not being able to count and doing this would probably tough with some of the stats stuff but just 307 9 and a half nine or just I don't you know I don't know how to count because like if you're going 10 9 8 then it's 8 just go 12 11 10 start all over again and you'll be shocked uh how often it works you should try to coin that remember like it curve would Richard Lewis was trying to coin the blank from hell you know in the Bartlett's thing maybe there's maybe there's a way we can just get your name attached to that before it's totally everywhere maybe I don't know the problem is I'm so used to it now that that's what I the next step would be unlearning the order of numbers so I would never actually know just not even counting yeah uh I just I think it's such a like I'm not to get like Huberman on you but I just feel like it's such an unbelievable Huberman yeah yeah I know I I'm not even knocking the guy at all I just the science of the mind to when it is anticipating
being done how it will decide that you were done before you were actually done because it's this anticipation towards some sort of line man some heavy shit I don't think I have a book out of that though all right let's get back to what we're better at um my friend is lying to his wife 58170 no gym stats player comp Travis best old friend Travis best I'm writing to you guys about my friend let's call him Craig who I just found out as lying to his wife about his past just some background in my I'm in my late 30s and have a very tight neck group of eight friends since elementary school wow including Craig eight deep from elementary school including Craig so we basically know everything about each other um the other day we're at a barbecue together where the wives and kids and all of our kids are playing together in the yard someone made a comment about Craig's kid along the lines of that he was big compared to the other kids and bowling some of them over while they were playing soccer together Craig's wife let's call her Sarah commented commented
quote well yeah what do you expect both his parents are D1 athletes we looked at each other confused until one of my other friends asked what she meant by that she matter of fact we said yeah I played I'll see if anyone's listening to this and she you're giving us the exact quote and the schools aren't changed um I played let's just make them up I played lacrosse at Maryland and he played basketball at let's say Vermont they should like like you know okay yeah because Maryland's a good lacrosse school right yeah and this is a good lacrosse school okay that she went to and you know Vermont's good but it's not it's not Kansas it's like a safe bet if you're gonna lie about yeah no offense to my my people back in Burlington like I becker but yeah right I think the school that I've replaced it with I think they're equivalent schools look if you're still playing D1
basketball anywhere the amount of people playing basketball I mean you're if you're playing D1 basketball you're fucking good at basketball okay again we looked at each other flabbergasted because we all know that Craig did not in fact play basketball at a D1 school nor did he play basketball in college or or even attend the school that he oh my god no layers a blooming onion of lies no one said anything to Sarah about it and the subject got changed I mean he looks the part of the basketball player about six three-ish is actually a very good pick up basketball player for a guy in his late 30s but he barely played in a his high school team insert wow didn't even play so there certainly did not play at college and in fact there were always questions about if you ever graduated college at all you got you guys got niggas buddies that you were like 15 years later they go hey you know I never graduated not 15 we had a buddy and he listened so what's up sister guy was like sleeping everywhere and just was like still around going to classes and
wasn't enrolled that would be something I love he was between schools yeah that's how we call us how we describe in schools he's he's a fine guy yeah yeah yeah that's the same guy let me look at the lectures this way he just he he's opt into my modern Russia class it's great um yeah he we we weren't sure like a good five years after if the diploma like I think he had like three credits that he just like didn't finish and we're just no everyone's kind of afraid to ask him so they just didn't and we just all assume that he probably didn't and I think he had to go back and get it but yeah it got it got resolved eventually but 15 years is aggressive I think we had one that we were like we like did no one had it confirmed I there's plenty of people who are like did you actually ever I didn't see my there on the stage buddy right you can get away with that though you know like they're people checking I guess I've never really lost I don't know do they want do they want trans groups like they have to send it over from the school maybe if you're going over for like a bank or something I don't know I have one really
ridiculous reason why I didn't walk and I don't think I'm gonna share it okay yeah I should have I should have walked here sort of it's funny it's actually really fun but I'm not gonna share it and then I was so disappointed myself I'm like you don't even deserve to walk you know and then I'm not sure my father believed me and then my diploma showed up in his house because I was power minute address for me well I saw it I was like I actually did graduate that's wild um all right so back to our guy here uh uh I'm not sure if it came up again and we told that I'm not sure if it came up again and we told the truth that she would probably be embarrassed and probably not a crack and maybe even cause marital issues for them my question you guys issue we have told his wife or or did we do the right thing by saying nothing in the grand scheme of things it's a pretty harmless live it's still pretty crazy that his wife believes this when all the other friends in the group and her wives know it's a lie is just to know what the council
thinks about this thinks in advance I would have kept my mouth shut and I would have made a fucking b-line for Craig you'd be like dude what the fuck are you doing and I would have probably brought up the event yeah if there's a quiet corner somewhere it's totally like dude you are a mateiac you would have quiet cornered him on the scene totally I'd be like looking around for him at this how do you keep that in yes if I found out that every time I could wait to find something I mean you had same day this yeah oh yeah oh yeah if he's like within walking distance to me I there and soon as I could be there I yeah I'm not making a scene like there's no guy I see like you're drinking you're getting a little animated then this is exactly right talking to you have worse yeah I'm not I'm not making a scene but I'm talking to my buddy but you might be making a scene not thinking you're making a scene because how how casual because that's not a casual conversation I'm not saying I'm not making a line but he's obviously not in this group of people that's all like uncomfortable so you know you know just say you're making a b-line maybe I'd meant like maybe like a z-line or something maybe I'd say exactly yeah I'm not
gonna spike my beer and then walk like me conversation but I'm gonna like next the next free moment I have will be to find my god I'm scanning for Craig and figuring out how to get over there quietly quickly normally I like to think that um you know if you get an issue with somebody you care about you know like figure it out right figure it out like get over that tough first few minutes and the reward will be there instead of the talk shit I think in this case I would just talk shit about him to the rest of the group and be like that's insane that's insane it's so insane that I don't even know if I could say anything to him about it I think my opener is you're crazy never gonna forget this also your wife's telling people this you might have to think about a solution all right yeah that's not like a threat I don't think he can ever say it that's a wild lie how is it not gotten out yet either like it's the first time oh my god she's proud of it terrified like the whole workers other family friends like this is like I would be paranoid living
with this lie also because she's also like she probably cares about max preps or whatever like she might be interested like how was he in college like how has she never looked up just to see your stats right right that is kind of strange because I was actually also appreciate sports stats yes he must have like that must have been an important thing to her he somehow knew that and then lied about it and they're like oh yeah you know I'm also a deal with athlete and then you're in then you're in this lie and then you're just in it until you have kids it's crazy like you can never go back on that lie right I mean I guess there probably is some sort of tattooed statute limitations for which you'll still probably love you but like what you know are you like it's 50 years old you're like actually I have something to say to you honey like I actually I would hate it ever more yeah I don't think he can tell her I'm glad you guys didn't say anything I don't even know why you're asking us that like it's not your role to be like actually he didn't even if you guys have all known each other since you were like single digits which is a wild scenario that you have eight core guys which is great so I mean you know in a way it probably
feels like these are your brothers more than they're just your friends because you know each other your entire lives but if he told her that what you clearly did the problem is like what if the kid ends up being good and then she's going to all these things and again this isn't like you know the tri cities where you're on basketball reference being like what was that in 1938 like if you're in your 30s should exist yeah so there's going to be some real confusion why 17 years ago there are any stats from I mean we're not even talking like 2006 2007 that stuff should be should be able to find it and she's never looked and so she may introduce like say the kids in junior high at some camp and she's like oh you're gonna meet my husband he played it Delaware was that the one okay no making up schools okay yeah I don't know man this is why I said this this lie would I would eat it me I would be so paranoid I just want to know how he's dealing with
it like so yeah whatever you've been doing does it ever come up but there's the I can't believe you wouldn't confront your buddy like there's no way I'm like saying anything friends and talent right up just met this marriage or yeah I'm not trying to do anything but like I am absolutely letting him know like hey dude we know and this is insane yeah but I don't think it's any of the friends to have like a ruling on it you want to make fun of them you want to say yeah that's it but I don't I don't think it's your right to be like you have to do something no no no this is just a hey we yeah we know yeah and like eyes thing and you're a legend bro yeah yeah I can't believe it that's off because you know because the thing that probably happened here is like it just started off as like this probably this innocent lie and then it's just like become this thing that you can't like come clean on right like who knows if you knew who's gonna marry this this woman have kids where they're all sudden like on the first date maybe you can imagine one lie one yeah and here we are however
that's a good Tim Robinson skit and like it comes out at like a nice like kids birthday that is a good skit you just do that riding staff pile that's really good you've created that I mean you want to tell me that guys in the 90s weren't at the casket flag and saying they just get called up from the Pawsauk yeah yeah like you know but chances are you are gonna marry somebody I mean you guys are making a great point because it's like imagine you know this tall drink of water is over in the corner and she's like had I played laksit john Hopkins he's like oh I was at Kansas State you know so a locate state when those few years ago she'd be like no way you must be nasty you know my name is probably saw you on TV yeah yeah I don't know easily it's a one and done some hard time remembering that yes close but I think you well this got a need actually play there so I don't have to worry about whether or not you play there at the same time but yeah I I mean guys say stuff but
to then end up being like oh I really like her oh I'm gonna get engaged oh married and now kids and now we're at a barbecue in our late 30s but you think about the web of this like her parents think that he played in college like her friends tells you friends he played in college her friends boyfriends and husbands think that he played in college that is terrifying to me one person finds out the wrong person finds out and you are so fucked god I know imagine her sending him videos of j'j'an love who like have you seen this crazy story about this Niners receivers it wasn't on the Niners mm-hmm he's sitting there he's like well you know who knows what he was going through yeah they've taken it side it's not rush the judgment yeah it's complicated look we all know NFL Sundays are sacred so we found the perfect way to make sure you don't miss a single snap of NFL action we're fully dialed into NFL Sunday ticket and YouTube TV

birthdays but that's cool um six foot identify at six one two ten max bench two sixty five that was back in twenty two more of an in-game strength guy even though all of the fallacies play dn n rugby eight man um pick up comp kings or clippers Ben Simmons congrats the sacrament of kings we're getting Ben Simmons in house I'll try my ass off and sweat enough for the cardio benefit but a typical physical guy just putting a shoulder down and going strong with his left but enjoy passing that's all I got then I go dream on set screens tight defense diving for loose balls just ruining 40-year-old guys afternoons I feel like I know this guy already what I info now when I think about my crowd you're probably not a fan that's fine I don't know can you ever really get mad at hustle all right but here's a deal I'm a fifth year senior we'll leave the school out big ten school typical bro like Ryan at UV to be him um attorney guy that had a group
of friends that I would go to the bars with every weekend going out 25 deep but we're all seniors last year all my friends graduated while I'm the guy that switches major late in his back at school for a full fifth year I have my own apartment which is very nice you've been living in a drunk master three years but I am here at school all by myself I have my fraternity brothers in the grade below me that I'm friends with but the other thing is my ex girlfriend works to the local basically only popular bar on campus which is causing me to get banned that's not what caused you buddy come on you told us all this information you think she's just that's why you didn't play the coach any I come on what happened I had a situation where it was like the one spot and then I wasn't banned but it was always uncomfortable but it was always a little icy sure I could do with that but let's band so you must have done something dude then I brought you five years to get trouble with that structure come on she didn't have a good shift that night all right um which is crazy and really stinks but it kind of helps me out just to avoid potential issues but I packed
kind of lame what gotta check the time on this email just the gents we like going on about it's just get late just got the email from the bars walking home is like I gotta tell right about this I don't think he means pack like yeah I don't know kind of lame but hey I got the time I've always been a man child with big shoulders and big hips I keep telling myself this is the time you understand yourself work on you test yourself before you are out there in the workplace or genuinely no one else besides your family gives a shit about you I know I need to go through the struggle of pain and understanding myself but it really sucks it is a boring cycle of consistency lifting ball face time with friends I'd love any advice to a guy my situation it feels like they are under achieving based on what they expected themselves who have already done I've started a blog about college ball because I love it not even gonna bring it up for a plug because that's how much of a damn gentleman I am but I'm 23 years old living on my own for the first time and trying to learn about myself for the first time I have three older brothers that are great
with advice and also massive fans but I know you experience the extra years in college yourself I'd love a quick recap on the advice you guys like me because I don't think the Netflix guys know I hope you have a great Labor Day I also don't want to bring up the go-to you were going for so I'm not going to say anything about it not a go-to you are still like it you know it's that look I think there's times where you should look bad and then when you clean everything up it's like it's improvement you know yeah I used to do it in the park I raised the bar sometimes yeah that's exactly so I used to let my hair when I had it get kind of nasty and gross and then you know you get get the town on a Thursday with a fresh cut like who's who's the yeah I can international student from Sweden no oh it's Ryan okay uh well look I would say like the the simplest advice I could give you is and it's same thing kind of you're gonna think that one year gap is like 10 years and it's really stupid and it's a waste of time and even though it's different
all your friends are gone which sucks because all my friends actually left the exact same time and then I didn't want to like hang out with the younger guys because I felt like my time was over I probably should have just hung out with the younger guys but there's always this weird divide between like classes especially if it's a fraternity thing where you're kind of like well I haze that guys so like the relationships never gonna be the same and he probably thinks the exact same thing about you and then there's like a moment where it's like actually this guy isn't that cool that's older than me and I'm as cool as he is and then fuck you and then there'll be like a younger guy that tells you to fuck off he's been waiting to say it to you for like four years and then he says it to you and you're like oh I kind of have to eat that even though it doesn't feel right with this whole hierarchy that we have here there's nothing like actually brothering up after a pledge and then the older guys are like there's nothing worse than a pledge except for a new brother neo fights are even worse and we're like oh great so I went through six months of shit like this to be treated even worse I couldn't I handle this in college yeah it's so rigid I don't know yeah because I'm everything like I can't believe we're actually going to the house the first time as brothers we grow then and all the old guys are like get out of here we're like isn't that part over it's been told and we got like
in trouble so this went on forever like isn't it supposed to be fun now and I'm not supposed to be looked down upon it's like no it's actually going to be even worse you're like oh this is where do I send my check so I'm just you're gonna when you're 27 28 all this bullshit's doing in your mind because you're experiencing all this stuff for the first time which you have clearly pointed out and accurately assessed none of it's going to matter you're just going to be like why couldn't I've just been thrilled that you know you're going to get through school you're going to get your degree and dude you're 23 the other guys are 22 it's not 30 and 15 here um just you're you're clearly not going to go out as much which you've already stated and there should be times where you allow yourself to still enjoy that part of it without having all of these bullshit like restrictions in your head because there's probably a lot of younger guys that do like you yeah you don't want to be sitting there like shown up to meetings every single week being like hey where are we
doing with the gazebo you know like I understand like not want to do that I didn't want to do any of that stuff I had a six year that was living with me in the department outside of town and he was like going to meetings I'm like what are you doing he's like I have nothing else to do he's like I have like 12 credits the next two semesters I don't care like I'm going like he went full into it he also had a death in his family that like cost him kind of a good chunk of his senior year which I totally understood why he was doing is like I want to make up for all that time because my senior you're stuck and I was like you know up great point so look I've kind of said it all here but just none of this shit none of it matters all of these anxieties that you have about what you should or shouldn't be doing no one I know you're carrying it around you feel like you're wearing this jersey that says I should have been gone already yeah just don't look at it that way and you're because you will regret kind of this self-inflicted restriction yeah trust me later on when you're in your 20s you were like well I kind of just relaxed about this whole thing I was going to graduate like I'm not a moron I changed my major I'm good you know don't worry about it I don't
think there's anything wrong with tightening up your last year in fantasy land but that's what it is so like it's it's it's all gonna be like you already knows it's gonna be harder but like then you won't be in fantasy land anymore you're taking his punch so like I would I would definitely try to find the balance you know you don't have to focus on like being fucking Batman you know it'd be like eating rice and whatever he's trying to do to like make himself like build his future while he's still like you know if the lid like Batman dude it's fine and you're at a huge school that's fun you know like this is a massive school they have great sports like don't don't deny this because of some weird thing that you had and I totally understand we're doing because I did it too and I kind of regret it yeah I don't have much to add to them like can you use this year to like better yourself too like can you like you better if you're weird about all these other things these college things like going out and and whatever you feel like you know belong and I don't find a find a hobby like golf more I don't know like start figuring out something I don't
know get it really into AI do something like that's gonna better your life go put some time in the soup catch you man where yeah you basically have like a you know I get out of jail free card here and like you get a year to do all this stuff and learn and do whatever like you don't have to just like rage and act like you're you know van wilder you can be a normal dude you know pick up some hobbies and have fun although van wilder did seem like he had a pretty good time he didn't get it at the end I didn't watch it uh okay yeah I actually never watch it all right that'll do it for the show all available all episodes available on Netflix thanks to Tom Kevin sorrudy and Kyle the Ryan so we'll show our sports
