the NFL season has started and that means our friend Willie Cologne joins us he has quite the resume now our guy co host of the Barton Willie show Bart Scott they get a podcast that is out now two guys opinionated ready to go he's on good morning football the SPN he's doing SNY pre and post on the jets and he's also doing Steelers radio man so I don't know I don't know what's going on you get divorced you worried about alimony or what man if you ain't working you dying so I'm just trying to stay alive in this media business man I'm trying to try to get like you one day trying to get a plaque and my name on a plaque trying to be you know I just want to be have a place at the table Ryan that's all well I appreciate that I don't know the only one place that you know I'm a little I'm a little wise except for the illegal part well I just you know like hey how was what would Riscilla what was it's hat be and I'm like I don't know I really don't know all right headline for me in last night's game I think New England pisted

away your thoughts who did they piss it away I don't know if they pissed it away or Seattle's defense is just that much is that dominant that much better than collectively to see also that much better than the past I thought you know there was a lot of talk I was listening to somebody talk this morning about the game and how Drake made play and they felt like he didn't make any like pro quarterback type throws it was like a very high school thing like a scheme if you will like he was like they rolled him out you know they let him throw the swing passes and I was like yeah that's because Seattle wasn't giving them anything they let them get everything yeah whatever was underneath it was gonna let him have but if he threw the ball deep which was 15 plus they were gonna be all over and they were and so I thought I thought you know for the most part early in the game I thought the past did a fair enough job of combat and some of that past Russian and that pressure but then in the second half he stopped what that's what really killed

him too the past in the second half Drake stopped using his legs and when he wasn't able to use his legs it just they kind of everything started to fall apart and I know a lot of people are dragging Romeo dogs right now for the way he played in that game rightfully so you got to you got to make those sketches especially because after that big drop he had Drake throws the interception Trilley love picks it off and then just it starts to snowball from there but I thought to see also just the tougher more greedy routine and they were prepared to take the path to deep water and it just got away from yeah and I don't mean that by like any indication of not respecting the Seahawks defense considering too who they were missing the secondary the turnover last year in the secondary to go ahead and have that kind of performance but I feel like if Sam Donald goes down after the first series and Drew Locke comes in who no one is afraid of you're in the game and then you have three interceptions in the fourth quarter like that that's one that's a little tougher you know it's I just would feel like hey we weren't ready tonight but Donald was out of the game and

we ain't blowing a tenel lead you know yeah I think there was I tweeted this too I thought if they would have had Trudevian Henderson they would have been a lot better because I think the goal was for them to be able to run the ball and with having Henderson they would have been able to get out in space and operate a lot better I think anytime you know when Ramanda was fine I thought he did what he could I thought he was tough um he had a couple catches out of the backfield but I think overall it came down to Drake and my eyes not being able to use his legs in the second half because that his ability in the first half to use his legs was what kept the patrons on schedule and on time when that stop happening then you know he started all right who what do we have Adrian Brown goes down with the anchor Dobbs is not catching the ball well all right they they're kind of loading the box they started to shrink for them you start to see time at the time and you know I think for him being a quarterback coming off the year he had last year you know he's still he he's he trust those guys out there you know he's when he threw that one ball of Dobbs he's like man

I know I have a guy that can go up and get the ball and for Dobbs is good I catch him a ball at the high point um and it just got away from him so I I don't I don't think Drake May is I think people were talking about you know last year with Fools goal because the schedule was bad and not as even excuse me the schedule was weak and and this year schedule is going to get a lot harder rightfully so I still think he's a damn reporter back you know I mean I still think he's worthy of being up there in the top 10 um yesterday just turned out to be a bad out of him at the infirm. Yeah we go over the picks you can say okay the deep shot to Dobbs like he's expecting him to win although it's it's it's a dangerous throw because the safety's there right and with the ball being up in the air like the safety's at least going to get back into the play and the coverage of still desomes so that's a that's a risky one you know if the lesser court yeah if there's a if it's a lesser quarterback we're like come on man you got to be better it's here five or something like that and with May our expectation is like he was just so good last year um the next one felt like frustration maybe because of the previous one trying to get it in there and then I know he's

the third one go ahead we have to put you off our podgez no go I think the pick by junior love was a setup I think they kept pressuring him and pressuring him and he he just looked it through and then it boom he just let it rip and junior love with the sit here because they were playing a lot of cloud coverage too so I think between the blitz cloud coverage you know I think you got to be prepared to bribe Murphy and big cat Linda Wums and those guys man they were mixing it up on front so I think I think you started to get hot for him and I think he's like man I got to make I got to get this I got to get this ball out and on time and junior love was just sitting forward sitting right there for it so I think he was maybe seeing more than what was actually happening on the flag yeah the last one he said hey I was trying to throw it away but then I saw Hollins over there I'm so you're like all right I mean I still can't believe Seattle Staten Bounds on that one just an incredible interception on the night speaking in your boy Murphy who I love that rep against the center uh Jared Wilson what what happens I mean look sometimes you just lose the snap but it's

it's crazy when a detackle looks like Nick Benito against you man it's I've been in that position though like I had who was little is his name I forgot his name but this sometimes where God just beats you so fast and you just turn into ice you just freeze because you don't know what the hell just happened you just get worked so fast you just like oh that it's almost like you didn't even get off the ball and I think if Brian Murphy is a dog I can him listen when he was in Texas he was a dog he started to emerge and I think in yesterday man he just he started clapping some cheeks out there he just thought it he started beating the boys up in the interior that line and I like you know I'm a fan of Baratuck and I'm a new fan of Mike Honwando right guard but every time man where if Drake didn't escape that pocket they would have had a lot more sex I think in the Super Bowl they gave up six acts and Drake doesn't use his legs early and I gained it it could have gotten close to that again I mean these guys started coming downhill and working moves and man when you

just got up when you get a beat or when a guy gets a beat on you that fast I mean you just you do just can't wait to the next play happens so you can forget about it so let's talk about that offensive line match up for New England against what you saw from the D line in the Seahawks because I think you know coming into the shoe you're like all right it's Campbell gonna be the guy they spend a top pick on another tackle so what does that mean like down the road I think over the course the night like I was trying to watch like left side right side I felt better about the left side maybe it was more Moses at right tackle but what is it about Seattle and what they're doing up there where like you want to I wouldn't I wouldn't leave last night's game being like man the paths all I got worked I'm not I'm not saying that I thought they look better yeah I think the left side looked better like certainly especially with what it looked like the last time we had seen them play so let's kind of dig into kind of what you saw from that match up well I thought the I thought it was going to be a black and blue game a fumbu fight and I think that's what we saw early and then I think they realized man if we can start running games many T.E. stunts E.T. stunts

you know some sloppy dog getting guys in different levels then we can get we can actually get to Drake main I think after a while that once do you start to see the pocket get chewed up a little bit then also you got to give credit to those guys on the back end they were playing things so tightly Drake kind of had to sit in there a little bit and hold the ball just so you know he can you know deliver it but never the less man I think when you have a D line who's athletic who stout who's actually you know I think all of them kind of pride themselves at playing being bullies at their position you know from the office line I always felt like this especially when you go against get all defensive lines you have to match the defensive line intensity you make going to it with what you want to do and how you want to run the ball and how you want to protect and slide and all this other stuff but if you start seeing guys start you know revering up their intensity you as the office line have to dig hard and get greedy and that means man not only on slot protection going for guys ribs or dumping a guy or just playing a little above after the

whistle to let them know that this is going to be a cake wall that's that neutralize is a lot of that because listen those guys get tired and they don't want to get banged around in it they just want to find different levels where they can attack working edge and get to quarterback and so I've always been to mindset when you see a D line get chippy and start doing things or feeling like they can do whatever you want you got to up your intensity and I think that's one thing that the patch struggled with later in that game who is your super bowl pick for this year man I'm I'm going to cowboys with it see I say that what are you going to do right now sorry about that Ryan no yeah no we love it tell her to come back we want her super bowl pick too sorry about that I'm this a Ryan with silo show you what are you doing oh I'm sorry totally politics my wife so out of all no don't apologize like what do you think you do you think I'm just here talking to a random white man no I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry about that so you were saying Trump's policies that you've

coming around on you no yeah not so much of bowl pick I'm going with I'm going with the cowboys and charges man cowboys oh wow I love this you like usually people get dangerous on one side you're really going for it I think I think her bitches do and I like the fact that might need to step into that situation said all right I'll office in line stay healthy and we get the ball out of your hand a lot faster we work on your foot mechanics we get you a run game on marinhamton is going to be healthy we can do some things if the people forget and maybe you can back me up on this Ryan like Miami under Mikeman games they ran the ball pretty damn well they weren't they weren't a bad rushing team they were they they ran the ball efficiently so if you give Justin Herbert who I know a lot of people's like Willie's oh for it but oh for three oh for four in the playoffs enough is enough you know I mean like why do we keep putting this guy on the pedestal

because a kid has he's tough he's tough he could deliver the football there's nothing he can't do on the football field from the quarterback position in my eyes so now if you give him a healthy office line and Oshi who is you know what did he like the corkiness or his his his at times being a centric I think he's a brilliant mind and so I'm just a fan of what what the possibilities can be and I think the defense is better especially on the defense of line and I just feel like they're due and I think I actually have the charges winning the division and so that's that's just where I'm at and the Cowboys I think listen man Dakis Filthy I actually have Dakis as my MVP I think he's gonna be that Filthy and with pick ins and CD and a whole gang obviously a lot you know Christian Parker with the as the new defense quarter for the Cowboys I think they're gonna be a lot better and so I know I just I'm just I'm giddy about the Cowboys I'm giddy about the charges so that's what I'm writing love it I'm with you on Herbert but I don't

even want to argue about it anymore I just like okay fine it doesn't make sense to people when they thought it's like yeah he could throw um-teen thousand yards but can't get it done in the playoffs I'm like the man the man has to shoulder all that to the play I think last year we watch this do pick is self-off the mat a million times I still get the job done late in games um so I'm I'm just a fan of the dude man and I know some people get annoyed with that because he has he doesn't produce uh when you know when it's go time meaning to playoffs and it is what it is but I think next year he's due and I think my mid-ding is gonna be a big game changer for them no people bitch about Josh Allen's playoffs they're gonna bitch about Herbert's so um that's that's just kind of what I've learned I mean it's you you sit there and you get an argument about it we don't need to rehash all of it but like let's talk about maybe and I'm kind of putting you on spot here a little bit but like if you look at Herbert last year 30% of the rest of the rate basically I'm I think it's like 29.7 it's highest in the NFL all right so he loses later he loses all who are studs okay and then I watch that playoff game against New England I'm like you know

I think one of my things about offensive lines is that I was just so spoiled by watching Brady every weekend for 20 years that when he knew he wasn't gonna win like the protection game he then adjusted to it which is like to me the top tier of like quarterbacking where you go hey we don't have it today you know they've kind of got us I'm gonna have to solve this on my own and we're gonna have to cut off our routes we're gonna have to do all these things like I am not going to have the normal amount of time so now I'm gonna help out my offensive line to me that is like the epitome of are you one of those truly special players and it's not about throws and completion percentage of touchdowns it's like okay Herbert is not that you know very few people are that and so I wonder if an entire season of going like I've got no chance with with all of our guys out and it starts to make you play but like I don't think he had some good games like some of these Josh Allen playoff losses I'm like they gave a 40 points guys like what are we doing here with Herbert he didn't have a good game at all but I think I can see him going this has been months of

this now and I'm just not comfortable back here and I wonder like what that's like like I'm not calling out like your offensive line groups but have you had maybe a quarterback where you could tell like hey we've got you now like we're good on the protection I whatever even dealing with the last month like we're gonna be better now and it's maybe sort of a hard habit for a quarterback to get out of when they felt like they've been sped up week after week back there yes it's different man earning a quarterback's trust is fragile because to your point sometimes you feel like man I know it been and that's what like you know that's the best quarterback I ever played with if he felt like we didn't have the best day upfront we weren't having the best day upfront you key would improv he would improvise a lot right he would look to get out of the pocket he knew he was going to get hats get hits so he would he would do things as far as like take the blow give a guy dint legs scrambled like he knew how to extend the plate the beauty of him too is that the first guy wasn't gonna get him exactly which is ridiculous yeah it's just like I remember one time in we were

playing Baltimore T-subs literally had him did the rights wrapped up and T-subs is actually you know T-subs is a big man like meaning to real sucks that is a K T-subs literally had a wrapped up and I watched Ben somehow turn into Gumbie like his body just went limp and T-subs slid down his leg and he picked his leg up out of T-subs arms and like scrambled out and I'm like only one man at league do that I mean and Ben is not like a he's not a wierry guy you know he's not like a Lamar Jackson frame or one of those skinny guys who can give you a little bit like he's a thick boy's a country boy and so he just had that knack of being able to take it like fill a sack and then get out of it stiff arm or whatever but as far as earning you know earning his trust that's why I always think it's pivotal for guys I think the pictures did a little bit last night like letting the boys up front opposed their will with running the ball right like kind of getting it out because there's so much we have to see from office line standpoint safety rotation

we're looking at the deal armist cleats we're looking at the depth of the linebackers we're looking at pressure on the outside so sometimes right out the gate man we're looking at so much it takes us a little bit to kind of just tighten our scope and calm down and I think that's what Josh Medan is trying to do with Drake May is art as much as you want to get you comfortable we gotta get those boys up that new five comfortable two because they have passed trauma for what happened in Super Bowl right so they understand that this boys can get after them so getting Drake May out the pocket rollouts you know doing different things where you you use as athleticism I thought was more to calm down the office line and I think a lot of times for quarterback if you feel when your office line is comfortable because they're they're aggressive earlier you know they're not trying to feel things out they want to be more on their attack and they're communicating a lot better so if you feel like all right these boys are using their punching first they're first at the attack now I can sit in here because I know they're they're more quick to fight instead of feeling because you can see when guys are kind of feel themselves do pass blocking right they then

they're a little soft on the edge they get out there set a little soft they're not explosive right away so they kind of trying to you know feel the tempo of the rush and I think one way to gain the trust of a quarterback especially early in games man is let them boys get up the football let them use their will let's get a little mixed direction which the pitch Patriots did in the first half but they kind of got away with it but I think for Justin Herbert just to pivot back I think a lot of what we saw last year to your point you used to great work was trauma you know I think he just he showed us so much early in the regular season and when he got to the playoffs and the things got a little high he was like man I don't know what's going on you know you just kind of all over the place and just most is unfortunate he took the L all right let's make you popular with Steelers Radio let's run through the AFC and I'm going to go through the teams and you tell me who the Steelers are better than all of them Brian all of them like you're going to fit in perfect they still wonder what happened to Kenny picket in that market that preseason game man

ready ready retire his number all right Buffalo no no no no all right all right we can go for those new England yeah I did the better new you think that's for the better than new England okay yeah I think I think I think our front seven defensively has a chance to be very special especially can I mean Patrick Graham my defensive coordinator his goal this season is to have Nick Herbert TJ Watt and how I how I'm as high as Smith on the field at the same time and when so if you have three ninjas out there only good things going to happen now secondary we still got a lot to figure out we're trying a little soft in the secondary especially from injury standpoint but I think our front seven could be pretty special for sure yeah I was listening to Cam Heyward the other day and he was talking about her big and I'm like I feel like he's nasty and doesn't get talked about enough am I am I gonna be washed yeah that's what I'm point like yeah you know it's just a very it's a really hard thing to keep

on top of every team's depth chart you know but there are there's certain guys like Cooper with Green Bay who I remember from A&M but like there's certain guys that sent a game you're like wait a minute like what's going on over here and I feel like her bigs always kind of that guy whenever I'm watching a Steelers game yeah he pops off the tape and there's and when you watch him and I and I had the opportunity to see him a little bit in training camp he wants to smoke like there's there's guys who want to go out there and look flashy and kind of you didn't want to and get to the quarterback and do their dance this guy wants it all he wants to smoke he's not afraid to be aggressive he's not afraid to work moves he's he's always looking for the edge his ability to track the footballs awesome I just love his demeanor too like there's a demeanor there's an energy that he exudes that I think compliments TJ and Alex and you know he's no longer kind of this he's no longer a secret I think if you put on tape especially from last year man the way he operates when he's in the game I think he just pops off the tape so I'm I'm

excited for him and I mean I'm excited for the game overall but he's one guy because they did pay him in all season I'm excited to see how he responds to that okay all right so better than New England let's keep going to the divisions here Cincinnati I think they're better than Cincinnati I mean I know who the Bengals are offensive we know they can light up the school board defensively I know you got debts to Lawrence and you have Jonathan Allen maybe you you acquire some other guys on the back end but you just want to prove it to me can Herbert I mean excuse me can burrow stay healthy I think office align is still in question I'm I'm just let's I just get frustrated that the Bengals continue to somehow leap from the Steelers solar because we got a 42 year quarterback but we have a quarterback in Joe Bird I can't stay healthy I think there's I think I'm still getting I don't know how Zack Taylor by the way continues to not get any scrutiny as far as being in the hot seat right like to me this is more of a pivotal year than ever

because you know if Joe burrow gets hurt well there's no excuse for you not to continue to try to to win games because you do supposedly have a defense right like you have a defense now and so I think you know the pressure should be on Zack Taylor to get it done with it without Joe burrow I mean you have everything you need in my eyes or you have an upgrade from everything you is way different for what you had in the past don't think we need to ask about Cleveland although I like some of these weapons that be honest for Cleveland Baltimore he was always scrappy good they always don't put up a fight there was a stretch there where I think I like their offensive line as much as like anybody and then it just didn't matter you know it was this like really good group and then you go okay and then you look at the defensive numbers last year like do you realize how nasty this defense was yeah you who and I would you know the lot it's a lot of rounding up with some of the young receivers but I like their tight end I like the running backs the offensive line to get reworked and I think again everybody's you're gonna have a lot of quarterbacks playing games there are pits that Pittsburgh go ahead now actually a quick question about their quarterbacks it's

situation between Shadour and the Sean Watson you do you think the Sean Watson was placed on Todd Monkett like did you think time monkey yeah I want to go with Shadour and maybe the powers to be like no we're paying the Sean Watson we want to get something out of the Sean Watson I don't think Shadour was any good last year but I think that the owner was like this fucking guy's playing like we're gonna give it one more shot to see if there's anything good. Let's go back out of four then what's the whole back and forth like if that's gonna be the end all be all this is why Cleveland fans are frustrated if that's where you're going and listen right wrong and different if you're gonna pull the ultimate trunk like no we're playing the Sean Watson he's healthy enough he's our guy then move forward because from an offensive standpoint when you know who the guy is you start to I mean as an offensive line if I know if the Sean Watson's my guy I want I want as many reps with him as possible from a cadence standpoint

high thanks what he's looking at like there's things we have to start building up so we can be effective when the season starts rather than go through this kind of distraction of like well who do you feel more comfortable without Shadour Sanders or the Sean Watson because that's what those guys that's what that offensive line is being asked in that locker room what do you feel comfortable with and it's a distraction eliminate the distraction to just say hey the Sean Watson's gonna be your guy last move forward and boom often run if if ultimately that's who you want want it to be your quarterback well the should or thing brings its own issues because there's this entire online debate about who he is or who he is and and I think there's a lot of people out there that seem to talk him up because they're like protective of the idea that he can actually be a real guy and he would have to get a lot better I'm guilty of that to me he has to get a lot better he has to get a lot better for us to say like okay like we're like and you know looks there's plenty of quarterbacks that have these disastrous rookie years and then they make that jump I don't know like you didn't spend a first round around him so that's kind of just the

way the league works where if you're not spending a first round around him you're not going to get like I was looking at the other day Zach Wilson is 33 career starts I couldn't believe that number why does he have that many career starts because like we got to make sure this guy actually stinks we got to keep rolling them out there and make sure because we spent this insanely high draft I'm coming to just these things yeah right exactly in an eight is on a roster again because somebody else had a good grade on him coming out so unfortunately for should or when you drafted that late um I still can't believe they took Gabriela's highs they did and then you have the Dishon part of it where you would think like anybody with any kind of and look he's he's basically proven that he's not ever going to have any remorse but like why would you sit there and go at this fan base when you are arguably the worst transaction in the history of the league like even if you don't believe it dude fucking pretend you know just understand why and like I've been saying now for four years like I can't believe he's this bad and I could use injury arguments and all these different things it's been four years of me saying basically the same thing

over over again so I have to give up I have no expectations for him but I can imagine just ownership cutting those checks however however they're timed out and everything that he's done and that it was fully guaranteed he's like hey guess what we got to see like he still owes me hours all right so I think that's what happened we got to get something out of this dude yeah and I'm I'm delusional enough to think like what if he like put it together and kind of reminded us of why this happened for six weeks and does that mean they think they can flip him for so any sort of acid just so the owner goes like oh man I was able to recover just distressed acid it's like no you didn't like you guaranteed every single dollar when the guy thought he was going to with Lander for like 60 million less so to the defensive Sean when he came up like every player wants to be held by their fan base yeah but understand why well that's I'll leave that one alone what why can't he have somebody go you just have to pretend you're bummed out about what's happened here

that's all you have to do but Ryan it's it's a lot more fragile for us you know I mean when you get in slam in the media when you get in slam by the beat riders every time there's a person you you know you're encounter with somebody in the street is a very like like you're that guy you know I mean like nothing's warm or welcome me at the end of the day you're human being like it hurts so I can understand like man I've been to multiple injuries I understand that I haven't lived up to the paycheck I understand that I was supposed to be the guy to deliver the browns from purgatory I haven't delivered on that but at the same day I'm a human being so I think he was just he was he was vulnerable in a moment and laid it out there I'm gonna tell you this happened to me one time I was with the Pittsburgh dealers and I was Friday you know you get out of practice so I had to grab some things and I walked up I went into a Walmart to grab some stuff and I'm going down one of the aisles and his lady is old lady with a shopping cart is you know I'm thinking she's passing me as I'm going past her she rams her shopping cart right into my stop me so I'm

thinking to you know the old bad is you know can't see you nothing she's no she's perfectly fine she looks at me right at my eyes she goes are you willy-colon and I'm like yeah man she's like can you please stop holding I've been watching for someone I think you're great I think you're you're you're you know you're you're you're tough I think you do a great job protect a bit that the off-size and the only is really a nauseating like it's at some point you know I've worked a bench a long time ago just to send you a message I'm having this conversation with this old lady in the middle of Walmart and I just said you're right man I do a lot better you know she's like you know you guys you've got to chance for sure but you know it's particularly you you need to be better out of everybody I think it's you you just need to be better and I'm saying like okay lady I got the first two points like grab your flower keep it pushing right but she she kind of helps firm she was holding up to the cart and my big ass can't I can't bulldozer right cameras you won the rep though she didn't get by you right it's so it's like I just had to sit

there and kind of take this little three-minute lashing and she just got him you know scared along and I was just saying they're like man there's no longer there's not a win because what's crazy I had just heard it from my coaches in the building right I heard from our coaches I'm listening to it on sports off radio I'm I'm hearing how I got to be better and stop holding I got to be better like you got to get tightened it up will look long and then the finisher was you know Marguerite you know giving me the business in the law Martin and I was just like okay all right it is what it is this is the life of a pro you gotta gotta suck it up and get better so I it's it I can understand his level of frustration to somebody agree I understand that but I think it's an entirely different bucket of his own doing and without you know but he's again he's not thinking about that stuff anymore he's thinking about him being hurt he's thinking about like hey I just agreed to the contract and so I understand but I just thought that last time that we get to hear from him you're like man you know you you're basically like letting the entire city know you

want nothing to do with him and it's it's like unfortunately when you're in the public side of things like you kind of have to figure some of stuff out all right let's keep running through this Pittsburgh's not better than Baltimore right I'm always gonna say it but in Baltimore you know I'm gonna be biased to the dad I'm this is this even if the roster says different if you feel like Jesse Mentor because of what he did with San Diego and in his mindset how you can re-vent recharge the Ravens find Declan Doyle being a new OC there's this expectation that you know he's gonna kind of be the whisperer to now the new Lamar Jackson and I listen I also think Lamar Jackson there's been a lot of talk of visibility not to run as much I think he's just getting smarter like dude I'm getting older I'm worth more on the field and off the field I can't take the hits like I used to and so I'm just gonna be you know try to be a lot more efficient in the pocket I think the Ravens still have issues up front I think they just lose their center they had I think their center of star and center just went down I could be wrong with that but yeah so I think

there's I think there's issues on the office line if they're dealing with but we'll see so I'm I'm yeah I'm petter Ravens a better reserve a couple weeks ago yeah you could call you've always on it all right so how about the AFC South is is anyone from that group better than Pittsburgh Houston Indy Jacksonville Tennessee well you can't say I mean the Texans put the boots to us and play off so I got to kind of bend the knee in that regard I do think we're better in the Colts I do think we're better than Jack Wars yeah who else will win my missing uh Tennessee I think we could we're good damn sure I mean I'm just trying to figure out like right now we've got the Steelers is a three seed so that means if you have the biggest knock on the Steelers is the fact that they're age-shaming Aaron Rodgers that's all it is it's a shame he's 42 years old but the man can still willing to do you think do you do you think Aaron Rodgers doesn't have the arm anymore do you think that I thought he was bad last year you said he what I thought he was bad last year I don't

I don't how did you think he was bad I think there's I'm not comparing it to Russell Wilson but you get a first you know front row seat to that Russell Wilson there were certain things that were no longer part of the catalog and so he was gonna try to hack the game into like I'm not gonna be anybody in the red zone you know what I mean like there's there's just things now that I'm not going to be able to do when Russell Wilson was at his peak and I'm expecting to do the peak at the end of his career it was just these magical moments like he would he would make these things happen and I felt like last year with Rodgers especially we look at the air yard stuff like he was last like I don't think he wants to ball up there the escape ability isn't there to be expected this stage of his career post Achilles I I think there's some throws and some efficiency stuff that kind of tricks you knew think he had a good game and I'd imagine a five or a defensive coordinator of game planning for it I'd be like you know what we don't have to worry about a ton of stuff because I think he's eliminated some of this stuff from his own game because he knows that this is risky like he doesn't want to take this risk anymore so I look it has to be a lot better it has to be a lot

better for the Steelers to be a real container in the ASE because I don't think he was good in 25 I so a couple things one I do agree with you he does only he's not taking the hits even more so you get in the ball out really fast and his five yard throws and this you know quick outs and all that stuff I totally agree with you and that whenever standpoint I do think people forget when he landed with the Pittsburgh Steelers how bad that offense was under Arthur Smith like just from a there was no ecosystem there was like he he masked a lot of deficiencies they had decay they didn't have a true number two they thought it was going to be something like a jano smith it never worked like there were there were things that just didn't arrive further Steelers so he had to he had to make hay with what he had I think let's I think they didn't you understand this is I've one point couldn't run the ball unless they had six linemen on the field you know I mean so that hurts you too when you're when you're when you're big five can't get it done without bring on an extra office linemen and they were treating my Washington as an actual office linemen

so they then they need a seven guys up front to get get some type of run game so that that kind of handed them on top of that he said that it was mouth and I think some of those guys if you listen to some of the the clipings the press clipings a lot of those guys talked about like man they had to grow up from the neck up you know and a Roger sees football from a PhD level a lot of these guys are still stuck on high school football so a lot of guys had to just be a lot better behind a curtain as far as preparing for the game what it means to be better at their job being more detailed he had to grow those guys up and that all happened last year and you know they were counting on Roman Wilson to be a guy he he struggled right they just couldn't trust them they were counting on different you know they they were trusting on Pat Fermill to be a lot better than he was he struggled so there were guys who were just kind of up and down and Roger's kind of had to really make do what's given what he had I think he's different this year because you do bring a Rico Donald and you do have a microcontent in as your number two you have him out watching you sign the back Fermill hopefully can be better next year this year I think the addition to Jeremy Bernard

the kid they got out out out out of Bambler is going to be money good for him so what are they saying about him because he's one of my favorite players in college last year everything has advertised given the ball I'm watching work he's one of the guys the first guys never going to take him down um he can be hell in the slot he's the first guy never takes him down no yeah the first guy never get and I watched it I watched it I was covering the Steelers bills game and the preseason I'm literally standing on my sideline the linebacker has a clear beat on him he's flying right at him but he just sucks to do just kind of takes the blow and scores the touchdown so he has that but I like where the Steelers are at and I like the fact that you know Aaron right now is a spicy Aaron Rodgers he's pissed off there's nothing he's not willing to say he does usually so chill he doesn't have many thoughts on many things I've noticed it a little bit more but this is I think he's I think he's stepping it up a level he goes if I'm gonna go out I'm setting the whole place on five you know I mean I kind of like that I like that energy he's exuding because he was in he's I've

watched him do a podcast on Kate cam hate with podcasts I've seen him with different things and he goes I'm not I'm not I'm not button anything up I'm gonna say what I have to say it's kind of like when that grandfather Christmas he's gonna tell everybody's business next to Christmas tree and I was like well you know grandpa let's fight now he's like nah I'm too old I'm too old to care so I'm just gonna I'm gonna say what I'm gonna say and how you feel about it how you feel about it I like that any because the Steelers need that they need that kind of chippy spicy like it is what it is from get some type energy I'm I'm gonna finish I'm looking forward to subscribing to Aaron Rogers unsolved mysteries pod yeah I don't think but I don't think we see him I think he's gone I think he's no way you're he needs to be heard from he loves it shit that's why he goes on I'm okay I think he bro I think he's gone I think we won't see I think he's no he's out of here I think he's too opinionated to not want people to hear from him you you I think he's over I think this is the reason why he's so excited I think he wants to dump it all out on the table

give it to the people and I think he's off we won't see him for a while into the mountains done big bearded totally dooly yep 3500 yeah I can respect that um I'm not gonna ask you about the jets I'll do it next time okay cave club next starts week I like them in a precinct to know who look out like dog I just perked up a bit bro I ain't go I ain't go bullshit you I like them somebody I get moved you know what it is I like the bottom quickly for a kid that you know there was a there was a plane of preseason against um the stillers he was backed up in the end zone and the stillers are sent out of the dogs he didn't flinch like he stood in there he went through his progression and actually hit his third hit his third receiver in the progression when when he had the dogs coming out through and most kids I mean that hit that his stature and where he's at they'll try to get out of pocket they'll do something even kill this just went through it I was like you wear beware I like it hey look go back to the august 25 mock drafts some places

had them going number one overall you can use that on that's them why hey there you go I will kind of rod just probably had that but I'll use I'll keep doing that definitely just a reminder the Barton Willie show that's what's going to get him the vacation house you're the man Willie we'll talk to you soon oh it was a pleasure brother thank you guys the NFL season is finally here and if you're like me your Sunday revolves entirely around making sure you don't miss a single snap of the action why let me yourself to one game on Sunday you should be in total command seeing every big play and every touchdown across the entire league right there on your big screen but thank God for NFL Sunday ticket and YouTube TV it literally gets you every game every Sunday plus features like multi view so you can watch up to four games at once you can just lock in and watch the games unfold without missing a thing and get this for new users it's just eight payments of 30 dollars a month stop stressing out and go sign up right now at youtube.com forch slash NFL ST new users pay

Drake may with that limited options or the limited options in the secondary yeah I mean my biggest takeaway was is Mike McDonald is one hell of a defensive coach and completely outclass Josh McDaniel's and and a Patriots again like you mentioned the secondary is a completely different secondary than the one we saw in a Super Bowl because of the injuries and Nick and Maurey it has such a huge part of what they do that missing him I thought it would have a bigger impact but they were able to keep the explosive plays down last season the Patriots were the most explosive team in the league 13.6% explosive play rate against the Seahawks in this game 6% explosive play rate so they couldn't create explosives they were trying to get the ball underneath and create yards after catch they couldn't create any yard after catch as well I thought tackling would be an issue with all those backup DB's in but they were elite tackler so they could not create any of yards as soon as a you know a tackler got to them and that was that was a big issue because their

game plan was to get the ball out because of these blitzes and hopefully a guy breaks a tackle but nobody broke a tackle in the game and it was a big issue so and also the like they had past protection issues in the Super Bowl because their scheme was a little too simplistic and Mike McDaniel just blasted it with these these nickel blitzes and it was pretty much the same game plan as seven months ago in the Super Bowl and it was just a huge issue I mean on the interception where he threw the ball to Julian love or Drake made through the ball to Julian love it was third and 14 and he had to keep seven into protection they had three guys running routes which is why love was able to fall off and just pick off that ball so for me the takeaway is the Patriots just still haven't proven that they can perform against elite defense yeah that's something you had in one of your preview things unlike storylines for every single team can you put your perspective

what new England face last year because we know it was like the historically one of these all time easy schedules but specific to the lack of elite defenses that they played and then what happens when they play some of these top 10 defenses yeah so they only played one one team that ranked in the top 10 of points allowed for a drive and that was a Cleveland Browns in a regular season and they didn't perform very well against the Browns either but in the playoffs they played four teams that were in the top 10 in that category and they were basically what their stats stat to a rank is bottom the league in the regular season so they became an offense that was you know it was like EPA like points per drive I think they would have been 30 second in the regular season based on their offensive profile through the playoffs now the Patsy and would be like yeah you mean the the path like getting all the way to the Super Bowl but I guess I'm kind of staying on this is that there's these alarming numbers against better defenses for the soft fence and look we saw it last night we saw it throughout the playoffs and we just didn't see it because they didn't

play any of them other than Cleveland so keep going with your point because I just wanted to clarify what some of those numbers were yeah and also I think it's a personnel issue which is why they tried to upgrade the wide receiver room with AJ Brown and Romeo Dobbs and Dobbs just couldn't get open yesterday and we we saw what happened to AJ Brown but it's also a schematic issue I think Josh McDaniel says it's a pretty good offensive coordinator but the protection scheme against really good defensive coordinators that know how to attack it that's going to be an issue and I thought they would have some better answers in you know having all this time they're prepared but they didn't so it's something to watch out for when they actually play against these type of defenses in the future okay um let's talk about Buffalo Houston this weekend how bad it has the run support bent for CJ Stroud since he's coming to the game yeah so he's never had a good running game his entire career in Houston his rookie year they were ranked 25th in Russian success rate

in 2024 they were bottom of league 32nd and last year they're ranked 30 so he's never had the help of a run game he's had some of the best of the worst injury luck when it comes to his receivers that's shown in the stats a weren't sharp how to stat for that and I think it was near bottom of league every single year as well um so he just hasn't had a lot of help and I think this year they did a really good job of just being intentional with trying to be a more physical team they draft a killing Rutledge in the first round he's going to be I think he's going to play guard they they had him kind of cross training at center as well but he adds physicality they traded traded for David Montgomery who statistically is one of the most efficient runner when it comes to gap scheme type of run so he's a north and south guy so I think they're going to be a better running team I think that's going to be one of the biggest questions for the for you know that has implications on the whole whole league because if Houston could run the ball they're a legitimate super bowl contender

Buffalo what are you looking for for them? last last the last game they played in Houston they were able to run the ball James Cook had 143 yards on the ground they just couldn't block Will Anderson and Demeel Hunter just gave Josh Alan a ton of trouble so running the ball was the way that they were able to get some offense but in that game Jalen Petrie who I think is one of the best nickel players in the league didn't play and I think he adds a lot to that run defense they also drafted Kater McDonald in the second round which also helps their run defense so I I don't know if they could dominate on the ground like they did in that first game which really kind of saved them and helped bring them back in the second half so we'll see how Josh Daniels Josh Alan's able to perform against Houston his EPA in the two games against Houston in the last two matchups they played is negative 0.13 but that in perspective against other opponents other than Texans his EPA is 0.19 for dropbacks so

he becomes like a very bad quarterback against Texans defense yeah I guess I'm really more excited about like what this bill's defense is going to look like you know like the last season is kind of remarkable that Buffalo was probably even in that position if you think about it like whether it's I mean everybody can complain about injuries like we know we like their offensive line we know we all love Alan we don't like their outside weapons in theory they've added a little bit more to it right because they go ahead and and make the deal for DJ more so I would think like just baseline that they have to be better because you care felt like the only like really good option that it felt like Josh could depend on you factor in Josh Alan's running and then cook and they were able to kind of like piece it together kind of like to the point you're talking about there defensively I don't like the secondary I think the edge guys are a lot of names I recognize but I don't feel like it's something that's like a game changer so I wonder with them switching this over to Jim Lenter like if any of this is going to look better or if we're going to be sitting

there at the end of the year like not in love with the team looking up them with like 12 wins going hey there are top three seed still in the AFC because that's kind of what like that was not some nasty awesome team but yet there was really good chance when you looked at the rest of the AFC where plenty of people were picking the bills to make it all the way to the Super Bowl which I don't think was a ridiculous thing but it's just I guess I felt like I want to like them more and I didn't and now I don't know to do with them other than just assume they're going to have 12 wins yeah the defense of the issue I mean there were times in a league where I times the beginning of the season they look like one of the worst defenses in a league and I think they they found some success just with like creating chaos and just it looked like they're you know it was also rollo decks of coverage is they're picking from every play because it was so random but I think you know that was on purpose they were just trying to be as unpredictable as possible and they had some success and sometimes they get caught kind of rolling the die a little bit so I think Jim Leonard understands that and I think Phil have kind of a chaos type of

philosophy come into the season and there'll be a little bit more aggressive up front too he's coming from that Denver system where they want their guys to get up field and and and feel try to shoot gaps and that sort of deal and I think they're defensive line kind of fits better into that system as well but I mean there's a chance that this is a bottom 10 defense you know they just didn't make enough upgrades on that side of the ball okay let's talk about your play calling rankings who you've got KC we got Denver here what needs to change with Andy Reed and some of the things you saw last year and then obviously NFL coaches talking to you with these these play caller rankings about where the chiefs need to get better yeah with Andy Reed the sentiment with almost a ton of the guys I talked to was that he deserves respect for all the things he's done and he's still a great offensive line but he needs to upgrade his offense like his offense is still

kind of doing things that they were doing five years ago with the high passing rate not adjusting to the light boxes and two deep safeties he needs to get under center more and run the ball and create play action and just create more gimme's for Patrick Mahomes so that's something that I think will change I think they kind of signaled that with signing Kenneth Walker and bringing Eric Biannaby back who worked with Ben Johnson and got a taste of how they put together their running offense but they it needs to change and I think we'll we'll see that this season but I've said that before about Andy Reed he really loves passing the ball so we'll see what happens when the bullets fly can you hammer home that light box number that you have in your preview like the number of times they faced light boxes and how terrible the success rate was against it because it either it was the offensive line where the offensive line breaks out a lot better than I think I realized after

the season was over it's obviously a big part of the motivation of bringing Kenneth Walker being like we need somebody to make some tough yards here but you have a number there or I didn't realize it was even that bad it was either they were so bad that they refused to go to it or they refused to adapt to the fact that it's like hey they're just they're taking these throws away and you guys aren't taking opportunity of the matchup up front and there's probably both honestly so they faced the fourth highest rate of light boxes 53.5 percent but they still ranked fifth in cook rate which measures how often teams pass the ball in neutral situations so they're seeing a very high rate of light boxes two deep safeties but they're still passing into it the fifth highest rate in the league which just doesn't make sense and I know they have patched my homes in any read just a west coast guy that likes spreading out spreading out teams and passing the ball but at some point you're going to have to do what the defense doesn't you know doesn't want you to do

which is run the ball and and just try to create opportunities and play action and I think they realize that and I think we'll see it this season. Denver do you think water addresses their lack of explosive plays? I think he'll help out a lot but I was surprised at how unexplosive the Denver offense was they ranked 25th in drives in which they were able to create an explosive so water does help I think he's a really good compliment to Courtland Sutton who is kind of that stationary ex-receiver and waddles that Z slot type that can move around the formation he ranked 12th in explosive reception rate last season and he just kind of really fits that archetype that Sean Peyton's looking for so I expect a big season out of him I don't know if the Broncos all of a sudden will be a top 10 explosive team but if they get to 15 that's going to help them out tremendously and also this will be Bo Nix's third year in this offense so I think

he takes a step up as well so I think they just need to be mid tier as far as explosiveness but they can't rank that in that 25th to 30th range next season. I was alarmed at their lack of explosive plays and I mean when I was reading it I was like wow that was really a lot lower than you'd think and I felt like nix had that stretch of like winning all these close games and it felt like there were big plays after big plays like there must have been some like game within you know in the NBA you have those last five minutes within five points of each other you know different clutch game scenarios and all that kind of stuff and it's like well maybe over the course of the game the explosive are low but I wonder if there's a different way to categorize some of the stuff that Nix was doing when I was still sort of shocked the entire time but the waddle numbers were even higher than I expected green Bay Minnesota why is Minnesota favorite in this game? I think green Bay is a totally different defense without Michael Parsons and they're not going to have Michael Parsons in the beginning of season and I think you know the florist defense is obviously

going to continue to be a good defense and they were in some close games last year with some of the worst quarterback play in the league last year with JJ McCarthy and no matter what you believe about Kyler Murray he's played like a top 10 quarterback at certain points of his career and maybe he doesn't reach that top 10 level but if he's mid tier is such a huge upgrade to what they had last season that you just expect Minnesota's offense to be better and when you pair that with Brian Flores and what he does defensively I think this is a team that could win 10 plus games so I see why they're favorites right now because the Packers are such a different team without Michael Parsons and you know Josh Jake missing Josh Jake is a big deal too because he he was such an instrumental factor in the way he broke tackles because his team is not a great run blocking team that without him I'm curious to see how their run game is going to look or if they even go to the

run game as much as they did because Matt LaFlora was some people say he called a little too many runs last year so maybe he becomes a little bit more pass heavy but the offense definitely needs to make an adjustment without Josh Jacobs. Yeah I think the spread story too is like if you look on the too deep defensively and that's what Parsons early off there's like seven guys that are either questionable or out and then two offensive linemen that are questionable so I think that's spread has everything to do with just too many people going like look at all these these concerns that you have with some of the green Bay guys. Let's talk about some of the bad teams here. Vegas first and foremost tough schedule, cousins of the starter what do you expect with the quarterback decision from the Raiders this year? I think they're going to wait till after the first five games when they just have a killer schedule like they they have the the dolphins first first but after that it's like a murder of Roe as far as the type of defense as they're going to see so I think one you have

to prove that your offensive line is good enough to support a young quarterback because you know there's all this talk about how much the line has improved but the only improvement they really made was adding Tyler Lindembaum and they're counting on coaching to really improve the past blocking and to cut down on some of those past blocking reps so they have to prove that they're able to run the ball a little bit and protect the quarterback and once they do that then I think they'll they'll start talking about putting Mendoza in but I was really encouraged with what I saw with Fernando Mendoza in the preseason even though his final stat line didn't look good I thought he looked really comfortable under center I thought he was able to go through his reads smoothly and you know you saw the arm and you saw some of the physical talent as far as being able to create after I mean it gets pressure. Yeah that's that's scheduled there I mean they've got Miami and they've got New Orleans in there but it feels like it might be a week seven week eight situation where

they've got yeah the Rams excuse me they're at the church. And New Orleans could be a lot better team than people expect too. Yeah then it's KC New England Buffalo Rams so I mean I know everybody's kind of going like oh you know they'll have that one but then it's on the road I don't know man Mendoza won the Heisman one of national championship like on the road NFL I think he's going to be okay and if it isn't okay that's that's fine too I just can't imagine there's a scenario where like are they good enough with some of the personnel to stay competitive for the first half of that because it's better he's healthier he's back with his play call or like is there some scenario there where they think like hey we can just have Mendoza take a gap year I don't I would think that's impossible you. I think that's what they wanted early on I think that was kind of a plan because they talked a lot about how quarterbacks need to sit for a year Brady's talked about that but I think one they were probably a little bit more impressed with Mendoza than they thought they were going to be as far as his transition from a shotgun offense to playing

under center and I think Kirk Cousins arms just does not look very good like a lot of those passes in the precinct he was throwing were just floaters so I'm curious to see if he could even push the ball a little bit you know obviously he's there mentally as far as running the operation but physically you know he he just does not look very good who starts first Kate Clubnik or Carson back I think Carson back because I actually feel like the jets have have a chance to be a pretty decent offense so I think Geno probably hold on to that job for a while but with the with the car like the jets offense huh I do I mean I think Geno Smith played in one of the worst environments a quarterback and play in last year with the Raiders and you know I think he was at least average with the Seattle Seahawks so I think he could return to that you look at the jet offensive line it could be pretty good Armand Membu the first round pick last year looks like you know a future all pro they

have Garrett Wilson I think Adonnie Mitchell is going to it's going to take a step up and really develop Mason Taylor is a good tight end they have Breeze Hall but my biggest concern is Frank Wright you know I he just hasn't been a good offense coordinator recently and I'm concerned about whether he could lead a modern offense but as far as talent the jets have what they need to be you know a borderline good offense I think yeah I mean it is kind of crazy when you run through Hall Wilson Mitchell Cooper Mason Taylor was to deke backing him up you know this is that's a nice group maybe they're doing the thing we've always talked about is like build out the rest of it and then go get your quarterback considering they're still probably going to be bad because of that defense and knowing that like the McShay's of the world are telling me there's maybe six guys that go in the first round like you don't even necessarily have to like sprint to tank the season but the old

reverse engineering of bringing in a quarterback with a much more stable situation instead of being so bad that you get to draft the quarterback and then wondering if he can survive those first couple years while you figure out the rest of it the old is the old line good enough to be passable I think so I mean they have two they might have one of the best tackle duels in the league at then and today Membu like I said could be an all pro pro left tackle Fashano you know he's a good player as well they have some good players on the interior so this this potentially could be a better than average offensive line and when you look at all the skill players to combine with that yeah I mean I really think this jet's offense can I slip down a little bit before we let you go what was your super bowl pick I think anybody that picks anybody other than a Rams is a hipster pick I mean they're just so talented that it's hard to to look at another team and think they could beat this team on paper yeah look I I have no problem usually I would be the guy it's like let me

just pick somebody different because I don't want to do that and I ended up having to do the exact same thing um so who'd you have in play um that's good question AFC is pretty wide open but I'm I'm gonna say Texans I think the Texans have have a chance to make a run and and and win the AFC they have sees wide open I love it you can read Ted wins stuff on the athletic go through those defensive play collar rankings and all the offenses that stuff is awesome get Shane a hand still number one McVeigh number two it's just kind of why I'm like I have friends that argue about how bad Shane a hand is and I just go like I'm sorry but there's just too many people that do this for a living every single day that rave about him whether it's through something like that or just conversations with guys that play the position that I talked to they just go like oh my god he's he's ridiculous and then I'll get a text about a time out or something and I'm just like all right maybe maybe you got me there and the podcast for people who go check it out um just give us a plug for that as well yes just win podcast as a Raiders podcast uh you can find that on YouTube app on

Spotify all right man we'll talk to you again soon this season all right talk to you soon and now it's time for a special part of today's episode brought to you by NFL Sunday ticket with NFL Sunday ticket and YouTube TV you get every game every Sunday all in one place with the magic of multi view you can curate your own perfect Sunday slight while tracking every single out of market matchup to keep your fantasy team alive to make sure you're ready for kickoff we locked in on four games you absolutely need to be watching this Sunday and we are going to run through those right now the headliner Buffalo Houston potential aFC conference championship game yeah I mean they're in the mix it feels like eight teams are in the mix for this title here I'm going to see Buffalo's defense be better for me to look at them as a true like favorite in the AFC maybe some of them you already have them as that obviously with Josh Shellen and I want to see CJ Stroud year four I got it there's no way he's he's this bad he's not as bad as he was at the end of the playoffs Houston's defense is incredible Houston can never run the football maybe they finally

addressed that right now they're at Houston you feel like if you're north of 23 points that's the best you can do against the Texans so that is probably the number one game I'm watching number two Denver at Kansas City I want to see if Kansas City has any answer to the way defense has been playing against them and if this Kenneth Walker investment is actually going to pay off not just in production but decided to go with some more run calls and ease up the load on Patrick Mahomes coming back from this knee injury on the other side I like Denver's personnel maybe as much as anyone not named the LA Rams and is it going to be a conversation about Botanix halfway through the season where it's like hey some of you guys hand up have to stop wondering like if that floor is that much lower than some of these other dudes because they put together a really nice run and who knows they probably play in the Super Bowl if nicks were available against New England and the final game that I'm locking into here well I got two more to go with I want to see what Aaron Rogers looks like for Pittsburgh at home against Atlanta they should be able to win that game with their defense alone but is there anything is there a couple series there or it looks

like Rogers and maybe it's just going to be fresher because it's week one so you can't make too many assumptions but it just physically needs to look a little bit better than it did last year and I can't wait to see Green Bay in Minnesota Green Bay a little banged up already going in a week one that's a tough spot can Kyler Murray look anything like that guy for about two years there's zone where he felt like he was actually carrying that football team terrific weapons there for Minnesota as well a healthy Kyler you know maybe we're all getting the NFC North here wrong because it feels like all these teams are kind of in it at least in their best case scenarios whether it's Green Bay Chicago Detroit or the Vikings you know the Vikings defense is going to show up you know they're going to blitz like crazy if Kyler's healthy which I don't expect to be for an entire season that changes the conversation in that division that's the beauty of multi view you're not just watching the games anymore you're building your own perfect NFL Sunday lineup and right now new users can get NFL Sunday take it for eight payments of just $30 a month get every game every Sunday all in one place with NFL Sunday take it and YouTube TV new users pay $240 or eight non-cancellable payments of $30 a month first charge it purchase availability varies with NFL Sunday

I'm actually having fun with this uh what surprised you I don't know why this surprised me but how unsophisticated all these guys that are on the business side of this thing are it's fucking rinky dink man rinky dink every one of these guys are rinky dink guys and I don't know why I didn't see that comment why I didn't expect that and that's why the sport so not stop so your time in now being exposed to this do you do you look at is it any easier fixed than maybe you thought oh yeah definitely definitely yeah now I see who the problem is I mean I I used to you know I used to believe that the fighters will probably the problem you know the fighters on the problem which is actually fascinating to me like you look at boxing you see these big events going on and all this stuff you know as soon as HBO went away because HBO was running

everything these guys are all I mean they're like they're like guys that put on your local carnival or something I mean it's just it's so unsophisticated and so bad at what they do it sounds like what you're telling me is it like well look I think I've known you well enough least from afar that you have this confidence you have the resume to back your confidence everything else but is there a massive advantage to like streamlining this and the way you've been able to do it in the USC where it just felt like it was a free for all in boxing now for decades well if you look now I mean if you look at what we've done was Zufa boxing all these undefeated guys are fighting undefeated guys young you know uh it's just the sport has been run the same way for the last hundred years and I always call

it a going out of business sale every time these guys have a fight they try to snatch up as much money as they can and then they run and hide for a year and then they come back and and snatch up as much money as they can they don't build anything when is the last time you saw something that generated trillions of dollars of revenue or more and at the end of the day there's nothing there nothing exists boxing it's fascinating I remember years ago like a VC firm I knew a kid that works so he wasn't like the decision maker but he was digging around there and he's like this thing is ridiculous and it's exactly your point it's like there's no stable part of this thing that actually still generates all this revenue and all this revenue internationally and yet it can't seem to ever figure out like what business exists that's this profitable but there's not like any central thing nothing that I know of I mean I know I've ever plus at the end of the day if you look at all these guys are all crammed onto one network streaming

service right now right nobody wants to be in business with these guys anymore it's just it you know that the model is so broken and so many people from casinos to networks to sponsors and the fans have been screwed for so long that it's finally starting to well and plus has become a very European sport not an American sport anymore no and I hope for a day because how much I love the sport growing up I hope for a day where the heavyweight champs are names that I'm like oh yeah I do remember that guy and I'll be honestly right now and I looked at this morning before we did this I'm like this three three names I can't pronounce and I think I've heard of one of the other guys let's talk about the UFC the heavyweight division feels like it is it is the Cyril gone win against Pere I know he's coming up in weight but what did gone show you on what he can do kind of long-term say the next two years in this division yeah I mean Cyril has always been you know right the John Jones thing is just

it's just crazy and you know but John Jones and you know when you think about the fight with him in Francis it doesn't go for that arm bar he wins that fight you know he's always just sort of been right there and he's a super talented guy and we'll see how this whole thing plays out you got Waldo Cortez the Costa you got Josh Hockett gone and then Aspenal whenever he heals up yeah Hockett was was vocal after the gone fight where it was like hey this shouldn't be a parrera rematch everything do you like even if you don't like what the fighter is saying do you like fighters being that vocal because it does bring more attention to them as a character and even the sport well it depends when you say how vocal the dumb shit that he said on on the lawn of the white

house no but you know free speech and I don't police what guy said and I don't love what everybody says all the time that's the country we wasn't even asking about that I think it goes about saying all of us are like shut up but I mean specific to like the fight when you ask me the question about Josh Hockett and being vocal I mean it's the first thing yeah it's the first thing I have to address you know it's because it's so absolutely stupid and you know but no guys coming out and saying hey he shouldn't get this or I shouldn't get listen get out there tell what do you want who are you what do you want what's next and you know make other people jump on on board with it Gachi's run this year the patty fights all-timer to pour you the favorite and you know you're watching that fight and you're going like which way is this gonna go and it gets told me too

like years and years ago and I love to ask you guys this like hey everybody's tough but like who's a real tough guy and Gachi was the first name that he came up with did you think he still had this in him yeah I mean listen he's got that would you have the power that he has and you take all the things that that surrounded that fight him being such a big underdog him coming in as a you know as not originally the main event and then everybody goes oh they put Justin Gachi and Justin Gachi is going to get killed either find the one underdog and on the White House lawn on the 250th birthday of America I mean these are the type of things that certain guys rise to the occasion and that was one of those nights I mean that's how if you wrote this movie first of all the storm is coming to hit us we're getting hit by this storm it's a hundred percent happiness the planes that were doing the flyover were already on their way back to the base not happening

we're we got to dump a bunch of the stuff that we spent millions of dollars producing all the all the stuff you know about the history of America the whole show is about to be completely different than it was and then all of a sudden the storm breaks in half goes around the White House and the ellipse then the card plays out the way that it does and then the main event happens it's just if you wrote this in a in a movie script it would be the biggest crock of shit of all time but it actually happened and reality is better than anything you could ever write do you think that you will do say something in Minnesota for Tim Walls to even things out and do like you get away house haha that's funny so oh you have an open mind is that that that's it's up there how about you know with Gachi here like this is kind of who he is you know even if there was a couple fights and like

you know how it works where it's like sometimes it's over quick and it's usually the fighters the last to know that it's over how often are you surprised when it feels like a fighter's kind of on the back of their career how often do you think you yourself are surprised being around these guys to see maybe not necessarily Gachi but how often it happens to you because I imagine you have unbelievable like reads and access on like this guy might be toast yeah well I think you see it in in all combat sports and maybe all sports too but I focus more on combat sports like yeah this guy's career is definitely winding down and it becomes more of a what else is there left to prove it's obviously the money the money is always going to be the you know the driving factor it's hard to walk two things that's hard to walk away from the number one guys like you and I will never understand this or no but to walk out of a tunnel with 20,000 people going crazy and you know you get into the octagon and you know all that type of stuff that

happens in the sport and then the money you know it's it's hard to walk away from so you know we have to look and say you know what's left what more is there to prove for this guy what about you do you is there something else after this White House success and I think your quote something like I was so happy to do it never want to do it again um is there something for you this white whale of like you know what I would love to do if I could do one big thing here what would that be hmm I don't know yet I it hasn't it hasn't come come to me yet but Craig we're sorry who is my head of production who pulls off the sphere and you know the the the White House uh came to me with the with a really great idea that we're working on right now he's actually flying back right now from what we're working on he's been out there for four days uh

stand if we can get some flight trackers on him uh bigger picture out these this is a broader thing and I want to kind of turn this into a little bit of a conversation here you know you invest into UFC I think the number was what two million you can correct any of these numbers of all of some of the stuff um and then years later with your partners it's it's a four billion dollar sale I know you still have a stake there's payout I think the cool thing for you is like we see this with these NBA teams as they sell and then they're like oh don't worry like the other people are gonna stay in charge for a little bit and then it's like once everything happens it's like guess what's not gonna happen um you were a big part of the value of the UFC too so you've been able to stay in this position on top of the stake that you still have when you see these astronomical numbers associated with the Lakers of the Seahawks for over nine billion recently the reaction that I see the most of is like okay we're hitting the top here like this is not sustainable and then sometimes I wonder if it just means that these things were so incredibly undervalued that we may just be at the cusp of even more astronomical prices your thoughts on that I also think that

that coming out of covid we we didn't realize how important sports are our life until they were all gone I mean everybody was freaking out I mean I would have watched golf during frigging uh you know covid it just sports are such a huge part of our life for everybody even people who don't think that they are and I don't disagree with that I mean if you look at hey look at the Celtics the Celtics sold for like six billion last year and now these teams the Vegas team the uh the timber walls the the the Lakers I mean what do the Celtics work I mean so if they sold for six billion they got to be worth ten now right yeah see I'm with you with the values up four billion and then the Lakers eight months ago go up two and a half billion eight months okay so what does that tell you then like we're getting close to a point that isn't sustainable or that such a great question I've

been talking about this for three days with with my guys no you're you're dead on and then R is like if the Lakers are worth 12 and a half billion the UFC is worth 50 billion do you regret selling I'm still in yeah right you still have a nice mistake I was looking at it this morning but like think about the Celtics part of it when Wiccon that group bought it in 2002 and I just moved back to Boston they bought their controlling interests for 360 million people laughed at them because they didn't own the building because the Jacobs and the Bruins owned the building they laughed at them they sell it for six and when the Lakers go for ten billion and then just over a year later go for twelve and a half billion you know the Denver Broncos sold for 4.65 billion four years ago I think you could argue even though Seahawks just came off a super bowl is a better franchise than Seattle and Seattle goes for nine point six is it is it because private equity doesn't have anywhere else to put this or do we look at like the rules and go hey everything is in your favor

the NBA ratings don't even have to go up they just have to exist and it's still a great product because people are watching live sports the CBA guarantees you that your employment is only going to cost this percentage of of whatever your revenue is and so even if it's an operating thing year to year your guarantee is on these appreciations or maybe it's just private equity going these deals are so massive now where the only people who can do it and we might as well get into that business because it's it's far less risky than some of these other obviously like a million different options you can get into I'm just I want you you know I know you've been talking about it for a couple days but I don't have an answer I just don't want to assume anything well here's the most interesting part here's what you're leaving out so uh what's going to go on with with with the rights for the order but first of all the monster and and and and and the whole conversation here is the NFL right so NFL content is so good and like everybody's geeking out right now because football seasons back and you know everybody's excited and and I've been saying this now for the

last uh a couple months like in my world in the combat sports world none of none of these people are my competitors that they're we are not the same okay we're not even remotely close to being the same my competition is the NFL Major League Baseball the NBA and the NHL so we talk about what these what these franchises are selling for you know there's going to be a battle here over the next you know five six seven years over the rights you know who's going to pay what and who's going to emerge as the you know we used to have Fox CBS NBC ABC ESPN you know now you got the Netflix the YouTube's the Paramounts the you know the the the the Disney's and and who's going to win in this whole you know when I grew up there was channel three channel five channel eight channel thirteen I think in the next ten years that's going to exist again but on a global level like

the whole world will be watching these networks so um that's through the streaming through the streaming companies or something yeah okay streaming companies are going to be you know the next big networks YouTube you know list goes on and on so a lot's going to change in the next seven years so for these franchises that are all you know you're talking about multiple franchises going for you know anywhere from six to fourteen billion dollars you know and and and they got it they they got to get fed who who who's paying the rights fees on this and I believe I don't know if this is true but I absolutely know this is true when we did our deal at Paramount for eight billion dollars there was a meeting at the NFL and they were like that was fucking eight billion dollars out there and we didn't get it right we'll put games on on Tuesday Wednesday that's happening by the way that that will

happen I don't know I don't know when it'll be in our lifetime but NFL season is going to have NFL on every fucking night soon it's happening very soon in our lifetime and you know um and the NFL is a great product you know um it's not global but you know what's today the the Rams are playing tonight in Australia you know they're they're pushing hard to try to go global I just don't know how it works globally I think for for for people Australia like oh in that NFL game let's let's try to check it out they don't they don't care about any of the teams that are over that ingrup washing them they have no investment in you know who wins or loses it's it's a tough one way different than fighting fighting works everywhere but um yeah the NFL is an absolute powerhouse okay but you brought up a good point on your paramount deal because you're right like people in the NFL on the business side who do these do these right steals were again there was something I don't have it like word for word here but it was almost like hey do you want to go back and revisit this whole thing and their network partners are like hey we get it but like we'll wait out the rest of the deal and then

kind of see what we're at and I think for you the beauty in this was paramounts like we need a dance partner you know like for somebody's like who is this going to be an upgrade of the NBA the NFL even baseball to some degree is kind of chopped up the product and been like if we can just get all this money by putting in all these different places does that feel less long term than just having kind of like the one streaming option um that you're obviously your product is more heavily favored towards well I know exactly what paramount needs for me and you know and I'm one of those partners that will grind and work over the next seven years to to deliver what I need to deliver to them I mean any of my partners that I've been with from Fox the ESPN to spike TV in the early days um but there's so much more to it than just what are these things selling for the question is what can you get for rights fees once you do yeah because I maybe the correction that people have argued but again I remember being all the ESPN all the years like there was a NBA deal that

skipper did in the teens and he get killed he got killed for it and then the next deal was triple what that deal was right and then this most recent deal you know people looking to be like I can't believe the NBA got that much and maybe the NBA got that much and now the NFL's like I can't believe they got that much so that means that we're worth all of this stuff and granted this contract so you can renew this stuff and tear it all up and do it all over again does your data show you that this is still like an under make you might be a little motivated answer this a certain way but that the live rights thing we still aren't close to understanding what the value can be of these things especially with your product being so international yeah yeah that's true yeah and your job as a league is to keep getting younger you have to keep getting younger and figuring out how to get younger there's so much more to this than just what does the you know what what what what if the franchise sell for so I mean if I ask you like hey what would you

rather have like do you think you'd ever want to own part of a sports franchise no why not well most of them don't make money there's too much bullshit you know involved I like taking niche sports that nobody believes it and build them into powerhouses that's what I like it well you did that and it's funny too I mean me and the fatigue is on the company called through at one you know we don't s ls kate leave nektos circus and power slap did you ever think it would be this in 25 years ago you don't ever I mean we believed in the product but you don't know at what level like you know you don't see a lot of this coming then once you get in you start grinding and start real I mean when we when we bought the UFC we'd never put on a production before we you know I didn't know anything about production but were you scared no what I did know because as a fan what did I want to see you know so I I went through you know

10 years of just crazy shit with you know hiring firing trying new things you're always working on your production and you're always trying to evolve and the thing that's been really good to to to my business is technology you know the better technology gets I'm always diving in to try to be first or you know trying to make the fan experience better. Ryan Garcia-Connor Van Paramount plus Noche UFC part of Dana's boxing promotion and wish you luck with it and enjoy your fight and we'll we'll see on the road at some point thanks Dan. Thanks thanks. life advice life advice rr at gmail.com we'll get to some emails we have some nice follow-ups from previous emails but it appears Kyle is already in Johnny season he is switched out to Pat Sturzy for red storm hat I know that people are excited to see the video posted I don't think we should stop doing that I think we should do Kyle recaps every week for the pets from the main page no way out there he was nervous man he it was like 12 30 eastern time and I was like in bed and I well yeah I know you're kind of you're gonna hyped up for the game but I Kyle well I know that's your early riser I'm a bad guy I love you he's not a night person nope to be it shocks people I take care of most of my business during the day you know that's right that's what I can I will but he sends a video and I was literally in bed I was like I can't my wife's asleep I like all right so I leave the room and then I watch it like this is incredible is everything we want it to be and then Kyle's like wait I don't like it I'm gonna send another one then he sends another one and then

face time and then kev our social guy face time just we weren't sure which one we were supposed to post you were invited Rhino's that get you just didn't pick up yeah I was at a jazz thing right right right that's Christian Scott so we worked through which one we were gonna post last night I do I do think we picked the right one so that's good yeah it's fun yesterday was a bummer for a couple reasons the first bar my regular bar that I go to shots he showed out the I we get there I'm like worried about getting seats and the you know she sees me walking with the jersey's on my brother's got a to a Teddy jersey on and she's just like I'll tell you boys right now I'm not yourself no no 54 oh Bruce and she goes I'll tell you boys right now I'm not staying open till like to the end of this game I got kids I was like god damn really so we're making a plan in half time I call the sports bar that's not too far away I'm like hey are you guys staying open to the end of the game like of course we go there no one's out for this game they're like you know put in chairs up or any it was like what full quarter left and my wife's like cows she's

like waiting for you to leave because my wife Kate Weller she's like she's waiting for you to leave and then she goes yeah I am I was like holy shit so then we walked to the pool hall which is right by there I was like these people have got to be open and I finished the so three different bars you get through this game just to lose like that and then yes we get to the we get to the wait so are you to blame for the five change and the fourth quarter it's possible because now we're in the pool hall I'm bummed out nobody wants me to watch this game and three picks bobo bobo I'm sorry this is fucking crazy so so what do we do how do we sort this out do we send out the red alert to pick the kipsey and say we need a home home base for Kyle I think it was no I think it was I mean Sunday was always Sunday but now it's Wednesday I don't know maybe it's because I thought like Super Bowl rematch this was supposed to be a decent game I thought it would be people be jazz up about it but it's like Wednesday the kids went back to school on Tuesday you know I tell you the NFL ratings mafia that's not like is NFL king it's replaces closing two places close with they do that for Pacer's nicks

no they were I mean it was rock it's up tell you that right now yeah 40 days away from the start of the NBA season by the way fuck count count you know anyway I think it was just it was a we a walkie start this is what you get when you start shit on Wednesdays instead of Thursdays I think this is like you know you win that game every Wednesday every year's we are from like celebrate 4th of July with Vikings tight week zero like will the NFL try I think the NFL is capable of literally anything yeah nothing's and I wonder yeah so I was reading about Roger Gale's $1 salary during the work stoppage the other day and I was like remember when people thought that was real um so I I may even have a segment on that it's something yeah I'm waiting for I'm waiting for the NFL to turn into that like time Lord bro who's just like we're actually gonna have a season within the season you got your one season we got two seasons at the same time right week one of

and I felt kind of felt season 1b I mean even Trey Wingo would be like an auger's gone yeah this is a lot of football all right um we have some follow ups which I think are worth revisiting on the PSI guy you may remember him is 19 bejes yeah who could forget uh appreciate the read got a good laugh might be a boring update but I dropped the link to the pod in the group discord and got a few key points to hit a couple people heard six two rather than my six two fifteen listed so got a couple hard inquiries there um yeah there is a dash my bad it was better than the other way around friends five that's not though yeah one ten right um although that really would be even worse I guess if you

think about it very high approval rating of Ryan reading fuggin that Gigi I end which is common vernacular amongst the group not solely owned by the original offer so would love if that becomes a mainstay I don't know if I can do it but I love doing it that day it didn't sound that's wrong you'll be honest yeah it wasn't but I was trying to the audience right like I I didn't want the audience to be like if you just get the word wrong or something and it was like no where there was an emphasis on that because of how rare that usage is this is these are all bullet points by the way um 19 bejes is now a new one is now a new lore of the group whenever the group is mentioned yeah yeah some members may already be using it so basically they're pricing everything that way now from this moment how much do I owe you for the beer exactly should I Venmo you actually what other members had mentioned they also don't have a ps5 so now

friendships are ruined not really the wife of the offer really enjoyed you guys roasting me for my limited gaming availability overall I don't think I will take the offer up I'm pretty locked into my two three game rotation which is mostly college football dynasty dominated right now so siruity wants in my brother would love to harass him to play his game so we can advance ooh was that was kind of nasty right yeah it happens you got a couple stragglers that tie things up it's a bummer no offense was meant to siruity or any other jazz out there who would kill for an hour or two a gaming a night wife works very early in the morning so she's a bit shortly after kiddo so my nights are pretty open after nine p.m. kind of sounds like this family thing is not affecting your game window can you imagine how many husbands are out there be like imagine if everybody else just went to bed at nine nine were a loud because I imagine some of you were like hey when when the chief of the house shuts it down like it's expected that I get to get in there and it's like don't you get sick of cuddling after a few years but this guy's living he's got like a three

hour yeah that guy has multiple day everyone day yeah my second day starts right now yeah thanks again for the read and the advice but I've ever changed my mind I'll shoot my friend the let me get that text per Kyle okay so what do we think about a follow up on siruity's 52 week low moment on the siruity zest email oh another follow is there anything else to be said it's from the guy oh wow we think we owe him that we've literally everyone else in the country on it so we should we should hear the guy by the way I think even if that was a 52 week low for siruity and some of the feedback that we got on his concern with the sister dating the brother-in-law I think aftermarket the recovery the amount of shit that you took then the recovery people people that had to back yeah they bought the yeah yeah these dips are kind of by themselves yeah

hey guys um pretty crazy what my family predicament did to the pod love all the advice really helped me out to cut to the chase I went and talked to my sister she I was really cool about it apparently you give me yourself I was really cool about it said I didn't have a problem with her seeing again I think we use the names Emily and Brad here with her seeing Brad my wife's brother but told her a siruity pointed out that if he gets too serious they break things off that would make gatherings a little weird at least for a while she said she and Brad at her we talked this through and if they break things off there'll be as normal as possible in the future oh oh great oh great well then I guess everything's good to me we need a great app if we before we get things like so to do yeah you could have this you keep yourself I'll keep my imagine dating somebody be like hey you want to just make a pact like after two years of like heavy intense emotional investment in each other and then if somebody does something sort of wrong and ends this whole thing that will just be totally cool with each other yeah that sounds like a great idea let's do that um then I gave Brad a call and total basically the same thing then my wife

and I went out with Brad and Emily to dinner last weekend all four of us sat down to start laughing for a good minute well sounds like somebody had a good time out socially they told us the story of them first getting together by accident one night by accident and then going out for coffee the next morning they didn't think it was ever gonna get serious so that's why they didn't tell my wife and I now apparently it's pretty serious um Brad made some Italian jokes at my expense thanks for not getting someone to whack me when you found out so the big reveal be it thanks giving this year big joint family get together and they'll be telling everybody should be fun thanks for the advice okay let us know how Thanksgiving goes yeah I mean like I'm not here to poo poo love like if you love each other great happy for you you know I don't know why those those words are funny well yeah this works out pretty well hope it works out for you the secrecy stuff is gone right they're about to hard launch on a holiday I mean it's gonna be in some you know some photo albums all right yeah how do we get the family like how do you think your families would react to this news

my older people was like that I'm introducing anyone to anyone yeah like what long back no but we're just gonna bring someone over soon cousin I think I think the older people would have said something out loud I think some of the middle-aged people would have been like you know in the other room on the you know on the grill or something being like what the fuck is this and then I think the younger people would be like screver from the rooftops man like I think that's how my my family would go right I got a couple great on so it definitely says something inappropriate and yeah this is not right yeah yeah but basically what you said and they're Italian so you know what maybe there's something there who knows but if we have a listener who's like late 70s and you're that person that just lets it fly can you email us and tell us what goes when does that like Rubicon type thing happen we just go yeah this is my role now but I'm here kind of Aaron Rodgers like I'm just going must be heard

by the way what's your vote on my argument with Willie Cologne about Aaron Rodgers disappearing versus me saying he needs to be heard really interesting um I think I'm with Willie he's kind of yeah like he does the ayahuasca things goes off the grid so I think I have he's a quarterback though I think when he's not a quarterback I'm not sure it's gonna have the same need I have a hard time believing we're just never gonna hear again though I think I think there is some truth to what you said Ryan he just is a I need to be heard guy and what that will be you know he's gonna be running for VP at some point you know at some point maybe you know he just pops up all the studies in politics wouldn't be surprised I'm telling you when you are asked what book you're reading and you tell everyone you're reading a book about physics you desperately want everyone to know you're reading a book about physics that is a massive tell I think you should get credit for reading a book about physics I would want you to know if I am right but I remember he's on the show and it's like oh what are

you reading it's like I'm reading it's book on physics that is somebody that wants everyone to know what he's thinking and I don't think that that disappears what book was the wrong reading the absolute father that he believed that was when he was sitting at the chair and was that what somebody got that was favorite part was he was like oh so many all of it so many parts it's so bad just all of it at least so broad like you know the brown he at least he is himself right in that way no like like like Aaron like would try to kind of I don't know hide that be cooler than what I the brown is like a little bit corny like that's just who he is whereas like I think Aaron thinks he's like kind of the coolest guy and he's also kind of corny and listen I'm corny too like it happens is what it is but you don't your thing but you're making a great point here because I think LeBron's had like enough goofy moments were like maybe his closest friends are giving him shit about the godfather book but then like none of us really know what to do with it like nobody in the room is gonna go you can't point to one

part of the godfather that you like you know and then I think wasn't the bookmark in different places and stuff and again he's doing that or it's like oh mark on page one yeah this playoff series he's reading about the mafia well they just an all black for a funeral for the series to like that kind of shit it's very performative he's a very performative guy I think that's kind of unavoidable when you're a specialist he is and you've been in the spotlight since like 13 years old but oh it was the Malcolm X autobiography well then yeah he's had multiple books okay godfather one there I think there was an Italian reporter that asked him in the media availability afterwards would be like hey what was your favorite part and he was like he couldn't name one the Italians was the Malcolm X thing also like look this up I did just his Malcolm X1 was during the bubble during the the playoffs in 20 that's the one I think I'm thinking of where he's sitting in that chair and they I'm pretty sure that's it okay now I gotta figure out what's going on with the godfather

yeah yeah yeah right okay yeah the godfather like there's another one with LeBron too that I thought was really telling is that when McVeigh recited a bunch of plays and then everybody freaked out like oh my god McVeigh knew where every one of these plays were LeBron very shortly there after did the exact same thing when he wasn't asked but he like knew he was gonna go I'm gonna do the same thing because I want to prove that I'm like a smartest McVeigh is or look at all of this love that McVeigh got because it was like he was able to recite all these plays in a row not that long after that LeBron did the exact same thing without kind of like he didn't have to answer it that way but he was gonna like prove a point there he also put on a hand brace after they lost the warriors which you don't forget Jesus Christ we got to read an email at this point all right we got to read an email so many of us have heard Roger thank you for bringing us back I can hate this I actually have more feedbacks when we're gonna save them we're gonna save them all right so auto shop

uh-oh what happened here did he send us another email no same email all right auto shop auto repair shop employee threatened to shoot me uh-oh tires love the pod I've been a listener since as we've been recilodays 34 years old 5 9 140 going for lean muscle can't carry too much bulk around on this small up frame I love it man no gym stats but I swim 12 thousand yards a week and try to get a couple sessions of yogi and as well here's a situation there's an auto repair shop on a street near my apartment in Chicago they routinely park cars they're repairing on the sidewalk picture attached I've emailed local government leader this car is parked just right in the front of the shop on the LA my neighborhood no this is like part of the course I just wouldn't even go down that street it was terrible I've emailed local government leaders and shops landlord to get them to stop they haven't this has gone up for years finally one day as I was walking by I saw cars parked again on

the sidewalk so I went to the shop oh he just went in there man the employee behind the counter said to me can I help you my response was yeah can you stop parking cars like that in the sidewalk as I pointed to the car on the sidewalk walk is capitalized that employee and another one male 30s 40s then said oh you're the guy complaining to the alderman and told me to mind your own business and then there's no room in their parking lots of the sidewalk was the only option to park cars I told them it was my business as I live a block away I told them the sidewalk was the public way and it's not to be used for their own private business they told me they were taxpayers and people could still walk through so there's no problem I would push back up in like taxpayers doesn't mean you get to do whatever the fuck you are doesn't mean you can yell at cops I pay your salary by the way yeah I should do that yeah I pay your salary but you know what good point here's only whatever we're gonna get out of here all right yeah I told them I ran an overflow parking lot somewhere nearby not obstruct the public way well that probably wasn't gonna they told me to leave the store as I was

not buying any good services they also they also told me to call good year their corporate owner or the police or the city most concerningly as I was leaving one employee told me that people who do not mind their own business in Chicago quote get shot oh I don't think I totally I don't think the higher up the corporate would love that part is this the biggest problem in the city no does it annoy me as a local resident property owner very much so yes do I want to face the solace corporation abusing the public for their own private profits no remember folks is a sidewalk now the side park my question is do I give the fight continuing fighting the good fight and risk getting shot over that guy's not gonna shoot you after he threatened to I don't think I think it's probably good practice to not challenge people yeah that say I'm gonna shoot but I'm kind of with you Kyle I don't think he's I don't think he's gonna use get shot here now I kind of wish I hadn't named the name brand because he knows that there's a tire thing at some point so let's like

absolve anyone from anything it just this is this is the local affiliate making local affiliate decisions you know you could do like do you just I mean it's kind of like a full care and route but you know just start spamming Google reviews and just get your buddies involved as well I'm like well you got to make something you got to make it happen because like that's like what's they're not going to there clearly nothing is working they're not going to do anything I don't they're gonna show nobody's to go over this car nobody's tow these cars though huh like that he's he hasn't gone that route other than just sending a couple of emails like I'm not sure I know how it goes like it's just something that whoever's whatever it's like they're just kind of letting them do it and they've been letting them do it for a while right so it's they know they're gonna get away with it um hmm I don't see this like it's I get your point you don't have anything other going on like anything else your life is going on is probably more important to this I'm gonna ask you like I'm not critical like if you like your neighborhood really just

kind of does right you're gonna say you're in telling me if somebody was parking like like near your house in Manhattan Beach parking on the on the sidewalk you would be like are you aware of what happens in Manhattan Beach I am it's not like basically the entire parking structure of Manhattan Beach right but it's like some random higher shop there's people it's people try I trust me I try to find parking in Manhattan Beach and it's the worst thing in the world apart from the host the wall over um Chazoo Elizabeth uh you that would piss you off like that don't act like that wouldn't piss you off if I've called if like some business was just like abusing the sidewalks in your neighborhood like I think that's yeah but I think there's I could sure okay like accurate I'm I'm with you on this but I also think I know myself well enough of being like you have a lot of other stuff going and you're gonna spend a ton of time on this you're gonna come home and hack a plan together right how am I gonna do right you and I bitch about enough things that don't matter where I feel like I feel like that's just you and I you know that's all you just call me and tell me this fucking guy is parked the sidewalk and that's all you would do look there's a guy across the street

has alarm sent to his alarm is he I don't think he lives there and it's set to the most sensitive like if if they're still going on her if post made shows up the alarm goes off and there's a pre-recorded message move your car please move your car uber came to pick me up last night to go to the jazz concert another reference and the alarm went off and then the automated thing him and I tried to talk to him one time about it I moved in here was like hey I'm new neighbor I was like the thing goes off nonstop I have to tape I was like what's going on with that and he just laid right into me and I knew exactly where his head was at and I went full fuck it I'm not dealing with this guy and he's like oh you're walking away from me I was like I could tell who you are within 10 seconds I want nothing to do with you I go I just wanted to see what your deal was now I know what your deal is I'm not talking to you I'm not gonna have worked this out with you you don't want to know what you don't want to know the anything you're just gonna come over here nope you'll never see me again man awesome I'm trying to shoot you yeah I can see if you had like a disabled neighbor like an old lady that you're like shovel or sidewalk and she just has

to cross the street every time she goes through a little corner store I could see you want to maybe teaming up and fixing this for her it sounds like you've already done enough things where like you've already sort of escalated to the point where you're you're bothering local government not bothering you're reaching out to local government you've now you've now walked into the store you know the actual store that didn't go well I don't really know where else there is to escalate I think you might I don't I don't agree with the yellow thing I think that's bad but yeah I think this goes away unless unless like you have a really good cause here other than just like I don't like that you're doing that what are you anti-year because it's just like frown upon is it I think it's shitty it's cool you know I just think it's shit I think I really can't ruin businesses and like I was sure they're very pro small business I'm pretty sure I'm not anti-small business shooter behind the counter isn't the owner there so I think he probably just took took some livery that's a threatener yeah yeah the one that threats the one that's threatener uh yeah I don't know I get that it's annoying but

think of the reward of all the time that you won't spend on this once you accept that it's it's a right tap it is the principle of the thing it's it's like I I would you know it just knowing it this exists there's plenty of principle of the things that I I'm with you on sr. U. D. where you're like you know what somebody should say something you know like I I had no one's gonna do anything about this thing that's blatantly bullshit like okay cool yeah and that's I mean you can be like Batman go vigilante on everybody but what if you skateboard down the sidewalk crash through the windshield on purpose and go whoop whoa yeah that wasn't supposed to be there boom all right that's good I like that's creative how's that better than the yellow for you okay what it just is man it just is I can't explain uh if it snows could you get a snowblower and just right buy it every time there we go I'm not gonna say anything about any kind of

like so I like bird some like bird food on top of the cars bread is any leftover don't throw that bread away put a stink bomb in their well yeah don't worry about it I want to end on a sad note today so yeah look a Barry Melrose past that's why I'm wearing the shirt today he was just an absolute legend not only for the NHL but for ESPN and its coverage you know Barry I'll explain it this way but I'm not pretending that I was super close to him other than seeing him all the time um and Bristol because he was there a lot doing all the studio shows but he was somebody who you know when he come in whether it was Scott or I or whoever like we'd be in studio and he'd be so nice to come by and usually we'd only have him the playoffs and one of my favorite things about Barry was that he knew that we didn't know we were talking about the entire time and he would work to like our level and make it an awesome segment and I think that's like one of the greatest compliments you can give an analyst because there's so many analysts when he sports and they know they're walking in a room where it's like more often not there's no one in the room that's

gonna know more about the game that you've dedicated your life to and Barry always like made it work for everybody especially with the drive by approach that so many of us had that had daily shows we were talking about the NHL where you know we might even talk about the first second round stuff you know conference finals Stanley Cup and he would come in and just be so great and he's also it's impossible to be as cool as Barry Melrose was he could think about this he could have a completely outdated look he could have a completely outdated suit and he was still the coolest guy in the room coolest guy in the hallway every single time and I I mean the outdated thing and like the best possible way like hardcore old school hockey guy who would roll in with these suits and he'd have his hair just comb back and you know it was like we're around a lot of people man like being the ESPN as long as I've been there and it was there was these little reminders of like the day-to-day like this is a cool experience and then you get numb to it you know you have scenarios

you're like I should be a little more freaked out that I'm walking down the hallway with Jerry Rice to go figure out what's on the menu but Barry had this presence of when you were around him or you got to see him it just was was kind of this other level so thoughts with his family and they don't they don't make them like Barry Melrose that's for sure. Bruiner Civil podcast are still sports met me
