1:02And, you know, we do underduck. We can be going. So today, we'll get into a little bit of guardians. We got a guy's coming up here in a little bit. Guys, how's the weather? Weather good? I still don't have any power. Still don't have any power. I was leaving my house in Fairview Park today. And I got, you know, my suit for later on channel three. I'm about to walk out the door and a crack of lightning and roar of thunder. Like, must have been down the street and I go, is this my sign of call out today? Maybe I just don't come in. Like, I get to want to get struck by lightning coming into work. In this line of business, is there a day? Is there call offs? Like, are there call offs? Like, if you work to six o'clock news, do you just be like, yeah, I'm a little sick today or did you do that show up? I mean, it happens. Right. I assure you it happens. You know, some of us maybe have a different tolerance for sickness, you know. Some of us, the way our PTO went lying up, some of us really don't have it like that, guys. So, listen, man, the sky feels like it's falling for the Guardians, too, man. They, you know, they went in the first, you know, first game of the series, they dropped the last two

2:04Tanner Bobby is out here looking shaky. Four innings, it gets, only gets passed, so, you know, it doesn't get passed four innings. And the Guardians drop another one to the Jays. What are we looking at here, guys, when we look at this team? We talked about it, it's Jack or a Hyde. They've now have a lead in the wild card of shrunken a little bit more. Do you guys even have hope that they're gonna get to a position where they can actually, you know, catch the White Sox, or you think that this is where they're gonna be most likely to make the playoffs if they do. I think they absolutely could still catch the White Sox because the White Sox team will not want to win this division either. I mean, three games, you still have a three game series against the Sox. The schedule's still very favorable. You have another series with the Royals to end the year. You got the Tigers for four, the Tigers seem to be falling off. I mean, it's all set up for the Guardians if they want it to go and take it. The problem is they don't seem to want to take it right now in the wild card, like you said. It's getting closer and closer, but I think a big question for this team if they do get into the postseason. Can you trust Tanner Bible at this point, Zach? I mean, he absolutely, he got the big contract.

3:07He was the opening day starter, and he just, I don't know what it is, but if it's mental or what, but he just doesn't seem to want to develop into that guy, they think they can be. Yeah, he kind of just fell off yesterday. It was so much like so many other starts, right? He's pitching okay, then the walks, then the beginning, and this team is not overcoming that. So, gee, what I see is a bad baseball team. That's pretty clear, but they're not dead. It's amazing that they're not. They should be there. They should be, but they're not dead. So we are in September, it is time for urgency. They got two today, but you lose these series, so these teams and I, I think you see them against the team like the blue jays of blue jays are better than them. They just are. Yeah, they look to be better. And every time that the Guardians have made mistakes, whether it's Hanoz, Eradie, other day, whether it's walking people putting them on base, and they make, they capitalize on off of it. They're making timely hitting. They're putting runs on the board and the thing that the Guardians cannot stand and they can't live with, or be successful with, is you can't give up three, four runs in an inning, because the way the Guardians play, it might take you three, four innings

4:07just even cut half of that out. Because you look at the home run totals, the thing that really can be a great equalizer for the Guardians is the fact that you can hit home runs. But when onheld Martinez is your power hitter, that's the guy who's adding power. And he has 13 home runs, and that's top to top in your team. I mean, trust me, it's not, it's gonna be tough to miss again. And what's frustrating about that game yesterday, and I was down there for Channel Three, is the fact that they had every opportunity to win that game. They had guys, they had ducks on the pod. They had runners in scoring position, but it's just been this frustrating thing that they can get up to the finish line, but they can't cross the finish line because they just cannot get that hit with runners in scoring position. And that's what killed them again yesterday. They had every opportunity to win, and they just could not land that hit. And another thing to watch about going into today's series, double header, seem vote used pretty much the entire bullpen yesterday. He needed everyone but Cade Smith.

5:09He wanted that one. Yeah, I'm, he's the manager for a reason. He knows what he's doing to time manager of the year, but I kind of walked out of there going, man, I don't know what they're gonna do tomorrow if they don't get a long start. Yeah, well, you get the extra guy, and it's gonna have to be a pitcher, but yeah, you're right. Bogan Allen, he's starting game, right? This is, this is tough spot. So just the inconsistency to me, you know, it's so many times, and yesterday it wasn't the case, but so many times they get down to nothing, and you just feel like I could turn it off now. They're not coming back. So they did show some like, but the guys left on base, and the inconsistency in the lineup has bothered me all year long. And I think it shows, I think it shows, and the way they play, you guys need to play and be in the same spot all the time to catch a rhythm. And this team with the exception of what two weeks all year has never really caught fire and kept it. Megan, that is, we'll go toss it to you. Yeah, just I wanted to touch on Tanner Bobby. We're real quick before we bring our guest in on this conversation, but Tanner Bobby was the guy who was supposed to be the long-term investment the Guardians made as the frontline pitcher. And right now when you look at what Messick's doing

6:09with Gavin Williams is doing, there's no way Bobby is getting the ball in one of the first two games in a playoff series. And frankly, I'm not even sure if he's getting the ball. In a third game right now, if the Guardians were to start the playoffs today, just based on the inconsistency. We've seen games where Tanner's looked awesome and he's got no run support. And then you see games like yesterday where he just struggles to find the strike zone. He had more walks than he had strikeouts. And it's just added on to what's been an incredibly frustrating season for the Guardians in totality. But, but, they are not out of it. The American League is still wide open. And they have a massive series, which begins this afternoon against the Detroit Tigers. And that's where we are going to bring in our guests to join this conversation. Alex Faust of Apple TV. He's on the call tonight for the second of the Guardians games today against the Detroit Tigers. The second is on Apple TV. Alex is doing the play by play for the games. So Alex, thanks for joining us here on the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show. And I'm curious, I know you're not necessarily a fan, but are you as baffled and confused

7:10about the ups and downs of this Guardian's team as the rest of us are here in Cleveland? Guys, I'm baffled and confused by the entire American League this year. It's not just the Guardians, like every single team who wants that final Wild Card spot. I mean, you had four different teams basically being that final playoff spot in the last five or six weeks. This Guardians team, I do think you guys, just listening to the points you brought up before having me on, this team should be better. The fact that you do have a guy like on Hail Martinez is your top home run, hitter, speaks volumes about where this team is at. But you look at where the roster is at. This is a young team. This is a very young team. Pitching wise, they've gotten more out of a guy like Parker Messick than perhaps anybody thought they would. He's been such a great pitcher for them. But yeah, Bobby, that's the start that he wants back. And it's the fine margins of the game, right?

8:10That fifth inning that unraveled a bit for the Guardians it starts with, you know, even that butt that he's fielding and just little, this small decision, small margins that add up. And it's one of those games. I know it's 162 and you never want a point to one to say that you want that one back. But given the tiebreaker situation, given that's a team that you're battling in the Wild Card, that's one that Cleveland needed to have and it puts all the more pressure on them to take three out of four or sweep this Tigers team to just reestablish a bit of that buffer in the AAL Playoff chase. You know, Alex, we take a look at, you know, just the Guardians in general. I try to give them a little bit of grace because they are a super young team. And I also get an organization a little bit of credit because they've been notoriously stingy about bringing up prospects in play in them because they're worried about, you know, control years and doing those things. So, you know, you do have the lot up here.

9:10You do have a Bazzana. I'm here in Martinez is up here. You did get a chance to see Brian Roqueo who's played more consistently. When you look at it, is this just a product of young guys and consistency? Or do you think, you know, at certain areas, Jose Ramirez and some of the other name players are just, you know, underperforming? Which is it is it underperformance? Or is it expected because they're young? Well, I do think for, you know, Jose Ram, a good chunk of the season, right? You have to take with the green of salt because of his injury, you know, early in the year with the handmade fracture. Steven Kwan, who didn't have a great first half and he's kind of roared in life in the second half. And what they've tried to do by bringing these young guys up is essentially build around those two as your cornerstones, if you will. You know, the other thing that you have to keep in mind, a lot of teams nowadays, because it used to be, oh, we're so worried about service time and we don't want to, you know, take that extra year away and we get a bearer

10:11you in the minors. I think a lot of teams are throwing that to the wayside. You know, we've seen so many organizations care more about signing guys to long-term extensions. I mean, look at what Milwaukee's done with all their guys in their early 20s, you know, Colt Keith with the Tigers even, you know, was kind of at the forefront of teams that are signing players who would never play the game in the major leagues. I do think there's more of an eye towards that. And I wouldn't be shocked if the Guardians went down that road in the off season. I actually like a lot of what Cleveland did at the trade deadline and kind of digging into it, I've been looking all season long and just kind of from afar, all the numbers, okay, they are what they are. And then you go out and you get Joe Adele and Nathaniel Lo for the middle of your lineup. And I know it was a bit of a slow start for Adele and a Guardians uniform. Man, I think that's a great pick up for a guy who just needed a fresh start, a change of scenery. And he's been producing of late.

11:12It's just a question of the margins, right? You know, can you feel, you know, when the time is right, can you get pitching out of guys who you expect to? I think that was the disappointment out of Bobby. I mean, a guy who's, you know, 10 games under 500 on the season in terms of win loss, like you would have expected a lot better out of him and, you know, not to have to ride a rookie like Parker Messick. Alex, I don't know how much Guardians you've watched all your really paid attention to the lineup specifically, but they seem to do this platooning thing more than any team in baseball. I'm sure smarter baseball minds than mine can figure out why they do that. I'm more of a fan of playing these young guys, especially the young guys every day. What do you think they gain out of platooning so many different players and having so many different lineups on a regular basis? Yeah, I mean, they're not the only ones to do it. You know, I dug into like the lineups and all the shakeups that they've had. I think part of it is that they are just trying to find something that sticks.

12:13Part of it is that they're looking at numbers for some of these younger guys who are having trouble on the platoon splits. There's no right or wrong answer. And that's not a cop out on my end. I do think that these guys, I'll go back, because I had the Cubs on Tuesday for TBS. And Pete Crow Armstrong, I wanna go back to what he was doing in middle of May. He was hitting 225. Looked like it was going to be a lost year. Alex Breggman was hitting a little bit over 200. It was going off the rails. And then just on a whim, and I asked Craig Council to confirm for me, hey, was this just a whim or did you see something and they moved him to the lead-off spot? He literally just said, no, I just wanted to try something. And literally it was just that. And then like that, it took off for him. And I think sometimes that's all it is, is you're just trying to find a combination. I think you try to look at, especially nowadays, on base to see if guys get on base better

13:13against left- these are righties. And then try to move them up or down the lineup to find a way that somebody can drive them in. But problem is with a Guardian's lineup that has such little slug in it, you're really stuck in a place where you are just kind of searching half the time. Alex, strange situation today with the day night doubleheader. Will you go to the first game or will you watch it and then go over to the ballpark? No, we'll go over. Our, it's interesting kind of, our TV truck, we are not allowed to touch like much of anything. Our crew is actually in today at 8 a.m., trying to get all of our camera positions set, all the graphics, everything else, technical set. And then as soon as that first game broadcast is on the air, we have to leave. So I'll be up in the press box watching. And then it's kind of a sprint from our TV crew to get ready after that for the second game or doubleheading. It's a little bit of a wonky situation today for that. But we'll be watching from the press box

14:15and we have our manager conversation set up for about 30 minutes after the first game ends. I might pop by the clubhouse and just, you know, here is kind of listening to some of the post game scrums to see how those go. But yeah, a little bit of a weird situation. We've done it once before. I think it actually may have been here, if I'm recalling correctly, but it's, it's a bit of a sprint for us. So we may not have all the bells and whistles that we usually like to have, but we're gonna put on as best a show as we can given the circumstances. Alex, we've talked a lot about on this show, the young guys and they have so much production from these young guys in Cleveland. Who excites you the most of the young guys first or second year that we can look forward to in the future? Mm. I mean, the latter is one of the top rookies in all baseball, right? He's having one of the best rookie seasons in Cleveland franchise history. And this despite missing, you know, those 20 odd games or the fracture of rib, I am curious to see if Bazzana takes another step.

15:18You know, so often we've seen this year in baseball, guys get rushed and I don't know if that's the right word, but you know, you look at a guy who's in his early 20s and say, you know, okay, there's only so much you could do at the minor league level. If you're kind of, if you kind of have a known commodity about yourself, the other thing that's kind of interesting and pitching is Parker Messick. And like you're at a career high and innings pitched, I've got a note here nearly three more than he's ever pitched before. Where like three or four starts to go, like what does he look like down the stretch? And he just continues to roll. So I'm fascinated to see what he does because just Cardians team has leaned so much on pitching this year. If they can continue to get quality outings out of him, I mean, then this team should get that final wild card spot, right? And then they're among the team's best set up, pitching wise to get there.

16:18And that's one of the two equations you need in the postseason is pitching in power. And at least they have one of those two things locked down and maybe they can catch lightning in a bottle here over the last month on the offensive side. But hey, let's remember, they are still in the final playoff spot. And everybody else still has worked to take care of too. So take care of business that's in front of you, especially against the struggling Tigers team here for four games this weekend. And you might be breathing easier. Come Monday. Please drink responsibly. Guys, Taylor Green's an electric athlete. We knew that coming out of the draft. He reset all the combine records, but at his heart of hearts, he is a quarterback. That's what the Browns drafted him to be. And despite numerous conversations about other positions that Taylor Green could possibly play, as it stands right now, the Browns viewed Taylor Green as a quarterback. Todd Munkin was asked about that earlier this week and coach said this quote, it's hard now. It's hard to really elite. At one thing, let alone switch to something you don't really play in college. At this point, Taylor is a quarterback and there's really nothing we can do now.

21:32Let's say we put him at receiver or on special teams and he got his shoulder knocked around or his back, especially with us putting Dylan on IR, that's really not something we want to engage right now. End quote. Zach, you've seen Taylor Green in every practice thus far, you've seen it throw the ball, you've seen it run. You've seen him do anything that as much as any of us could have seen Taylor Green. Do you think his future in the NFL is at quarterback or do you think he's best suited to be used as a weapon elsewhere? This is Cleveland, Mike. Taylor Green's got to get ready to start a game on like, no, if ever 15. I have joke on that. His future is interesting because this is like rare size and rare speed. We were throwing around Troll prior. Taylor and his father always said, you're Randall Cunningham and that goes way back. For right now, he's a quarterback because that's what he is because that's what he has to be. Todd Munk and touched on it. He has to get ready to play. He's learning now in a pinch. Quarterbacks know everything.

22:33If they were to lose two tight ends or two receivers and he had to go run a red round, yes. I think as the Browns evolve and add things, it will be as a quarterback, short yardage, a special situation. But he's the number three QB. He's got a lot to learn. His job in practice right now is to run the scout team. It's to continue to improve as a passer. It's to be ready to play quarterback in an emergency situation. So I do think for years to come if Taylor and Green's around and I think he's got a chance to be, maybe you'll see him do other things. But right now, by circumstance more than anything, he's 100% a quarterback. Yeah, and he said that after the final law, a preseason game he was asked by one of the meeting members like have you ever thought about switching to receiver or a tight end and he said, no, I'm a quarterback. I'm a quarterback. I'm a quarterback. And if you spent your whole life being a quarterback, it's exactly what you would say. That's what Troll prior said until those quarterback opportunities ran out and then he said, find a more wide receiver and goes on has a thousand yard season. So I think if Taylor and Green eventually down the road wanted to be a tight end or a wide receiver,

23:33he has the athleticism to do it. But obviously if he can pop as a quarterback, his best choice is to develop as a quarterback. And then you're looking at a guy that has traits that you make in a video game because that's just how he was born. He was molded by the hand of God to have everything you could possibly want. He still has to develop. And that's what I think we have to remember about Taylor and Green is as tantalizing as it is to think, ooh, what if he really pops? He could be the guy. It's going to take a while. He's a developmental piece for a reason. And if he didn't need to develop, he would have gone in the first round, hands down. You know, this is a very funny conversation. Yesterday we talked about, you know, the, you know, why does quarterback play down? Why is quarterback play not as good as it used to be? And one of the things that we talk about is, is when you take a look at the OTAs and you take a look at the NFL players association, they've already negotiated that there are certain things you're not going to do and you can't play in practice at certain times so those reps are cut. And if you're to Cleveland Browns,

24:35you guys seem to be in a perpetual quarterback battle. So that means from OTAs, reps your split, from training camp reps your split. Heck, you're still splitting reps right now because the guys that behind Dejane Watson, whether it's Dylan Gabriel or Shadour Sanders or Taylor Green, they're not even getting all the reps. And I always, it dawns on me because I go back and I try to watch other teams and I listen to the way the Saints talk about Tyler Schuck or Jackson Dark talk about, you know, just the second year getting all the reps and being able to figure out and how certain parts of the playbook are now unlocked and makes total sense now because you can work and you're working with all the receivers. So for the Browns, the reality of situation, they're going to be behind the eight ball. Preprep perpetually until they decide, I got a guy that I want to invest in. And that's where you unlock people. It's investment in time. You can't sit around and say, I want to get married, I want to get married. But you don't call the woman on the phone.

25:36You don't take her on those dates. Y'all don't never talk or communicate and all you do is text. You see her once a week. How are you going to get, how are you going to build a relationship? How are you going to get married? And the Browns keep asking people, hey, we need to find a quarterback to marry. Well, Browns, to do that, you're going to have to start dating somebody. Can't do it from the house. Yes, the Browns have to invest in somebody, but it's also on these quarterbacks now to invest in themselves. I've listened to plenty of Tom Brady documentaries and interviews when he said, when he was on the second team, third team with the Patriots before he got, it's not about the amount of reps, it's making the reps count. So yes, while Taylor and Green is not going to be a starting quarterback until he starts getting those first team reps, he also has to go out there, his job is scout team. He has to go and light this defense up and use the scout team to get better to earn the right for those reps. And sometimes you have to stick it out, gee. And I think that's what this organization for right now is committed to doing with him. I have talked to people since the day Taylor and Green was drafted. What's the realistic expectation here? And I believe that it is that they think he will help them win a game somewhere along the way,

26:38not necessarily at quarterback. But from a quarterback standpoint, and we can all disagree with how this summer was handled, right, this was always year, zero, and not year one, because they think he's far away. And in due time and in the right circumstance, they want to give him a chance to help this team. And that's mostly going to be at quarterback because his first field appearance is probably going to be on a third and one at some point. And if one of these guys gets hurt, he becomes a back quarterback. But he's not going to be active for the first game of the season and in an ideal world, not for the first four games. So they love the kids makeup, they love his smarts, and obviously the athleticism is off the charts. But it's about tapping the brakes and developing them a little bit at a time, seeing how he can eventually get on the field. I think too, with his athleticism, if you want to, yeah, he say he played quarterback, but the way you get to see what you actually is playing, is take a look at what the play calls is. When I was watching a weekend, I said, yeah, you played quarterback, but this is a Wildcat quarterback. And he ran the read option about six, seven times. And by the way, that is tantalizing,

27:38because to keep it real, I was looking at Tigers and we was watching film, I said, listen, you see how they ran that read option, but they ran the read option with the full back of lead and all that. That's impossible to stop. He's 6'6", he running that fast. He running away from people. If it's third and three, you can run that for four yards, all the way up and down the field if you need to. Tail and Green's college highlight reel is crazy. Five years at two schools. And guess what it is, runs. Run. Run. Run. Run up. I mean, when he ran off that end zone, listen, I paused it. I stopped it. I said, that defensive end has him leveraged. This is a sack out of the back of the end zone. And in two and a half steps, he went from the back of the end zone, which is like 12 yards end zone. And he was at the 35, 40 yard line. And three steps. It looked like he just, he looked like one of the long grasshoppers that just fur, five, 10, 15, 5, 4 from tail and green, 35 yards. So when you're evaluating, yeah, when you're in an NFL team and you're evaluating the third preseason game, mostly third and fourth stringers, right? You're looking for two things.

28:38One, you have a specific groups where your team needs help. So you're looking at, this guy's not going to make the Patriots. This guy's not going to make the Saints. But in general, you're just looking for traits. And so that's why I think, even before the Dylan Gabriel Switch aroo that this guy was making the team, because that play right there, every other team that was just scanning through was like, you can't teach that. Yeah, that was, that was, that was the point I was looking at. I just also do think too, he's a long, long, long, long way from being a passer. Like, I mean, just, you could see that in warmups. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. When they're just running down the sideline, I don't warm up toss and it goes three yards in front of the guy. I mean, he's not ready to be a passer yet. Yeah. Yeah. Question for you guys. What's more likely to happen first? Tailing green comes in on like a third and five during the game for some design quarterback run, RPO, read option, or tailing green gets the first chance to throw a Hilmeri at the end of the half for this team, because Deshaun Watson may or may not be able to throw the ball

29:40more than 20 yards down field. Well, he's not going to be in front of Shadour and that's in that circumstance. But if there was to be a quarterback change or injury circumstance in heat, because he has to be active is the three key B he's not, he can't come in the game unless the other two are hurt. But I do think it's a third five, Mike. I think that it is. It's the third five. Or it's more like a third and two and a half, right? 32:43And that means when you do come on, they can't come back in the game. Oh, the Browns would have to make a designation and make him an active roster player. So three weeks, eight weeks down the road, they could make him an active roster player and you send him on kickoff coverage. But for right now, especially being down a qub, they're not gonna do it. And long term, which I think is the bigger question for tailing, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't develop into the starting quarterback face of the franchise just because of how it is. But he could maybe, maybe his ceiling is, Tassum Hill, who played a little quarterback, was a wildcat guy, could play that fallback, could play tight end, could be a weapon all over the field. That might be the best case scenario for tailing green. And if he becomes a Tassum Hill, that was a home run pick in the sixth round. Felipe Franks has made a little bit of an NFL career off of doing that. Yeah, he's not the athlete tailing is. Right. I mean, we're gonna need to get points either way we can. Just no names. Donovan Mitchell, the face of the Cavaliers, went on the Cousins podcast with Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady and talked about the Cavaliers playoff shortcomings. Let's take a listen to what Donovan had to say and we can compare it to some of the other answers we've heard from Cleveland athletes recently. This is Donovan Mitchell on the Cousins podcast talking about the Cavaliers shortcomings in last year's playoffs. First, we'll talk about your season.

36:50You lose that tuck-in. I think we lose perspective a lot. I think you look at the end result and that's, I mean, naturally so. We got swept. We deserve the criticism that comes with that. That's warranted. We went to game sevens and we really should have been, and I don't mean this has disrespected the teams we play, but we had a chance to close both teams out in six. We didn't take care of it. If we were to take care of Detroit at home and not lost by 20, we have four days off headed into our hand. I'm not saying we win, we lose whatever. It gives you, it gives you opportunity. We didn't take care of business. So I think that's kind of where you look at inward and be like, forget the sweep. Let's talk before that. We should have handled business before that. I mean, like I said, that's no disrespect to Toronto to Detroit. We were in the positions to win and we didn't handle our business. Well, no, man. I don't know what we're doing there, bro. I don't know what we're doing there, fellas.

37:51I mean, I get that he, what he's saying is factual, but that seems to me being saying that y'all was worn down. Right? That was me. Everything he said was right. So he said he was worn down. Right? That was tired. Now you can't get tired. That's what you run him down. You can't get tired. It's just, it's crazy because we talked about this two years in a row. We talked about it the prior year against the Indiana Pacers. What did they say? Kenny Ackensy came to the booth. They're to the podium and say Indiana was more physical. They seemed to wear us down. We didn't have our legs underneath us. We're kind of, you know, trying to figure things out or whatever the case may be. Now, bro, you can't, like in basketball or wherever you at, being tired or worn down cannot be the excuse for why you lose. You was up 20 something points in game one, 21s. So the thing is, you were physically tired,

38:52but the more important thing is you were mentally tired. The calves made mental mistakes. They didn't capitalize when they needed to. And the thing between champions and non-champions teams or good teams is you must take and seize every opportunity. And life when you play at that high level, it only take one play. It could be a turnover. At J.R. Smith about that. It could take one play where you wasn't thinking about it. And it happened throughout the playoffs. How many eight seconds did we see them getting the ball up the court? How many times were they missing free throws down the stretch? How many times were you up big points? You let them come back and you lose those games. You and you say it was just one game. No, one game isn't one game when it has the stakes on the line. No, I like to see a little more of mental and physical toughness because that's what it's going to take to get to the top of the mountain when it comes to NBA championships. Everything Donovan said was correct. They should have taken care of business earlier.

39:53They would have had the days off and that all adds up to it. But like you said, you're paid millions of dollars to be in shape to be ready. And you're paid millions of dollars to win the games and close out the games of teams that you're clearly better than. They were better than the Raptors, but for whatever reason they just decided when they went to Toronto. You know what, we're going to play sloppy. We're going to let them dictate what kind of game it's going to be. We're not going to close them out. And then they go seven against the pistons. They could have closed the pistons out early because they didn't. I got to run the marathon. So I'm not going to complain that much. But still, you had an opportunity to have those days off. So when you hit a team like New York who's going to run you up and down the court and on a heater, you just weren't ready for it. And the year before, it was because they played all the regular season. They took that two seriously when they got to the postseason. They were wiped. Well, last year they managed the minutes a little better. They were fresh and ready to go in the postseason. But then they didn't manage the postseason right. I get what he's trying to say is ring culture. It's if you don't want a title. It's a failure of a season. That's not necessarily the case. But this is the same issue coming up again and again with this cab team.

40:53And unless they solve it, we're going to be back here next year and talking about the same thing. Well, you guys are right. But he's right in that you're measured by the end. And I think he was trying to be human about that and saying like, look, I can't sit here and say all the good things we got going on and the franchise is in a locker room because we failed at the end. And you're right, it did come out as excuse making with that's that's what it's going to be, right? This team because of Donovan Mitchell has entered a window where it's championship or bus. Two regular seasons ago it did that. It was a disappointing ending. Last year to get swept was super disappointing. In general, they got there. They're in the final four. They're knocking on the door. But they're going to be measured by the end. And this window is now at two years and they're going to have to make it different or it's going to be the same discussion. Well, my question to always for the cab is, which one of you guys in that organization is the guy who says in a locker room, this is unacceptable? Donovan, this is not going to happen again. It's Donovan. But the problem is I don't know and I could my general idea, I don't know this for sure, but from the past couple of years is there aren't enough guys.

41:56That want to win so bad that it hurts because that's what it takes in the postseason. And we have guys that very nice, great, but they're kind of just laid back and it's okay. And we're going to take it as it comes. Donovan wants to win so badly that it hurts. You need more of that in the locker room. I think they've turned that page a little bit. They've gotten closer to that. But you got guys who want to kill in the playoffs and they just, they haven't had that. I mean, guys that's willing to put their personal relationship on the line. What that means is I'm going to be on you so much that you might not like me as a person. Kobe Bryant's in Tories for it. Kobe Bryant called Ryan Arterson said, listen, we just gave up Trevor Arisa for you. Trevor Arisa did everything purposefully on point. He was here early. He was a great team manager defender. If we trade him for you, I'm telling you, you better not screw it up and I'm going to be on you every single day. And it did change from Trevor Arisa. Didn't change from Paul Gassal. Didn't change with Dwight Howard. And sometimes it was so bad.

42:56Dwight Howard said, I got to go. Sometimes the pressure was too much. So my thing is, right now with the Cavaliers, we know Kenny Accusin. He's not a demander of, you know, he said the notorious thing on paper. On paper and in my mind, we want no who's going to be to do that says unless we get it together, don't talk to me on the jet, the plane. We're not about to play cards. We just lost and I need you to get better and you weren't physical enough and you turned the ball over. I don't see that person. And when I'm watching these other teams, you know, the difference between everybody else and the team that won. It's because that team had to do named Jalen Brunson that told everybody, I don't care if you have 30 points, 30 points and enough. I'll get 65 points in a row. Jalen Brunson, every single fourth quarter was like, no, it's not. Every single fourth quarter was like, no, it's my time to go. And you can look at that and you can take a look at the people who win championships. You can point to the one person. That's it. He just didn't let them lose. Well, in that regard, it has to be Donovan as of right now, but the one change could be on the mobile.

43:59And eventually like Evan Mobile is who he is and we're probably there. But like that, that dog in Evan Mobile, that newfound different player, different person. And it has to start on the floor. Right. The ninth best player in the team can't do that. Right. It's got to be one of those two that sets that tone and says it's going to be different. And then it has to come out and actually be different. I do think we saw Evan scratch the surface of that in the postseason at times because in Detroit, we were standing there in the locker room afterwards and he had a gash on his face that someone clawed at him going for a rebound and he just looked angry. He played angry and he looked incredible down the stretch at times against the pistons. We need to see it more consistently. And he's a nice guy. He's a quiet guy. He's reserved. He's still young. I think we forget that he is still young, but you're right. We need to see that alpha dog because if he's the alpha dog, this team can go far. Carl Anthony Towns. McNuggets, what was the M.O. on Carl Anthony Towns before this season? He's a jump shooter, soft.

45:00He want to play on the perimeter, disappears defensively sometimes. He had a nice player, but he ain't no winning player when it comes to 4 quarter and crunch time against good teams. Guess what? All that got a race this year, didn't it? And nobody saw that from Cat. They need that type of, I guess, revelation from Evan Mowgli to be like, no, we see it from Mowgli. Five games and then. You're the real quick, gee. You know the difference is we need Mowgli to do more, cat did less. And the regular season cat took four fewer field goal attempts in the previous two years. Four fewer. His three point number dropped from 5.3 to 4.1. Re-bounds, dropped from 13 to 12. Assist where exactly the same. He doesn't play defense, that's still the same. But he did less to let other guys do more. We need Evan to do more. You know what I'm saying? Evan can't do less. Evan needs to do more.

46:01Cat did change the narrative because they won. Had they not won, the narrative is still around cat, despite the fact that he reinvented his game in the playoffs. For the calves, I think it simply comes down to closing the deal and finishing what they've started. They've come close. They got closer last year and they've ever been in the past. But the fact that they got swept and back to Donovan's initial answer. We can look at all the different reasons. How? Why? What when they blew the lead in game one? The fact that they were worn down and had to play, I believe it was seven games in 15 days because they couldn't close out Toronto in a game six. And they couldn't close out the Troy in a game six and there's no one to blame. But themselves for that situation. They lost to a better team that had fresher legs and was more ready to go. The only way it's changed is for them to win. And the only way mobile is going to change this narrative around mobile is to go out and be more aggressive and be more assertive and demand the ball and show some of the progress that we've been asking for for the last couple of seasons. That hasn't come to fruition yet.

47:01I don't think you can change a narrative and we're going to talk about this in the next hour with the Browns without winning. Is that Chris G? Is there any other way you can really change a narrative unless you win? Zero. Especially with this team, right? When you're a young team or you're first into this new phase, you can do it in other ways and you are judging it. But with this team, it has to be win. It has to be the toughness has to be on display. The aggressive assertive Evan has to be on display. And when they get in the playoffs, it has to be we are not going to set it with this team. We are winning. We are showing. We are different. And going back to what Don have been said when he's trying to talk about the good things happening, they did take a step forward last year. They did get over that hump, go to the conference finals, well in the final four teams, standing and they showed toughness down the stretch with teams that were more physical. It was a good step. But again, in sports, you're judged by what you do and winning in crunch time and they didn't do that. Here's what I want here. There's no more either. Are they back the backs? We trying to save people's legs. Yeah, you're saved legs all last year. You saved legs. You put people on minutes restrictions.

48:03Guys, what do you know dudes who sit out back the backs? Don't give me that because when it got to the playoffs and you had all of those days off, now let's say you still tire. Absolutely not. Sometimes you got to learn how to play at a high level when you are tired. And the calves to me need to actually understand that. Look, some of them games you lost at Toronto and close out games with Detroit is because those teams played under man and they played more desperate than you. Like, it's hard to close teams out. They're not going to roll over and die. They're going to play desperate. So the calves need to understand that, okay, we need to expend this energy and we've got to be able to really take it to wherever the other team is taking it. So hopefully they're conditioning right now. There's time to go run suicides or get on the diverse climber or whatever you want to do. Go get P90X. You got P90X. Get that beat body man. You ready to go. You can do it right in there. You come for your own home man.

49:04Ab and back plus. But we got figured out man. We got figured out. Coming up. We are going to feel you figure this out. Ohio State Buckeye. Yeah, they have to go. And we got somebody in the building. Ball State's own. Chris Rinku. How we keeping this close? Is they going to keep it close? We'll see. Don't go anywhere. I grew up a big Ohio State fan still in Ohio State fan. But I got an expensive piece of paper from this institution. So this is the only we're talking cardinals here. Right. And I want to tell you guys a story back in my days of my youth at Ball State. Indiana gave Ball State a bag once for a home and home. They had this new coach, Kevin Wilson. They were coming on the up. Played at Lucas Oil Stadium one year and Cleveland native, West like native. Conor Ryan catches a touchdown in the back of the end zone. Cardinals upset the Hoosiers. Awesome. Then next year. Awesome. Ball State marches into Bloomington. Again, the best Indiana team. They're turning the corner and Maseline Tiger, Steven shot at the gun. Kids of game winning field goal. And Indiana got that loss again. All that to say, you do not take the mighty cardinals from Muncie, Indiana lightly. Okay. That being said, a win for Ball State is they cover the 50 in a.

53:17They got it. That's my whole prediction. That was the heck of a pump up. I'm right or right through a wall. That was cool. Boy. He had it ready. I was looking. I was like, where is going? So you don't need to be a Dustin Fox level degenerate to understand this. Ohio State is a 50 and a half point favorite. Yeah. And the game total is 56. So what they're telling you is that they're a ball state is unlikely to score a touchdown. Ball State is rebuilding. We got a new coach. Yes. But I think you all got a new coach to second year. Second year. Second. Newer. Yes. No, I would say that you can never know what happens in the first week of the college football season. Yeah. But the way that last year ended for Ohio State, I get the idea that these buckeyes are coming for revenge this year. And they're focused and teams like that generally don't get the lazy week one upset or close. Yeah.

54:17I mean, hey, Rutgers got upset by UMass, another great Mac program. Uh, but hey, we'll see. I just want them to cover. I want them to look good. And ladies and gentlemen, I want to introduce you. Everyone's going to talk about Jeremiah Smith. They're going to talk about Julian saying, how about the ball state quarterback? His name is Kendrick Luster. Finally, a representation of the common man at quarterback. Because this guy is 5, 10, 250 pounds. He is a unit. And I am excited to see what he does as he gets sack three or four times. This is great. And 5, 10, 250. That's my size. 5, finally see myself. 5, 10, 250. That's my size. 5, finally see myself. 5, 10. I'll talk about football field. Listen, I thought he was going to go to full back or tight in. But he plays quarterback. Well, listen, hey, shout out to the big guys. You know, I'm a Matt guy. I love to see guys go down there and play Ohio State. The funny thing is, sometimes Ohio State will sleep through the first game a little bit. You catch them sleeping. Usually what they do if they did sleep on you a little bit, they get you, you know, it's seven points. And maybe they're only beating you 23 to 7 and a half.

55:20You're like, man, that's good. And then they poured on you in that second quarter. What I think is better for the viewer and for the team is last year, remember Ohio State Texas was high new on week one. Yeah, and it was sloppy. It was sloppy. So I just think for everybody involved, mostly the teams, they get the layups out of the way. They get some real game reps. That's no disrespect to anybody. And then next Saturday night, we can really get excited. Yep, yep, yep. So I will say this. It's our first opportunity to get Steve Jeremiah Smith. And the Jeremiah Smith tracker is up and running. My question is, there's a lot of quarterbacks coming out of this draft. Get ready for the conversation of being like, yeah, you might need a quarterback, but can you pass this guy? All right. Let's just keep it real. Like it may be whoever's a number one, if it's a mid season, like it's like nobody really kind of takes over the mantle, say archmaning comes back and he wants to come back to college or there's always a name or two that come out. And you just say, what did this guy come from? They're first round talent.

56:21But get ready for the conversation of being like, if you do have the number one pick and you have a serviceable quarterback, are you willing to punt on this guy? Yep. I don't care if he got another receiver. He's one of one. He wanted him. So he's incredible. He is incredible. He's probably the best overall prospect in this draft. Him and Leonard Moore, the quarterback at another day or both, like generational type prospects at their own position. But if a team is even questioning if they don't have a future franchise quarterback, they are going to draft a quarterback with the first pick in this draft. Let's go here, Jefferson. As the example, let's go here. You know, we're talking about what the Browns tank to Jets tank, the Cardinals, the dolphins. What about the team that crazy circumstances loses at starting QB and week three or four this year? That always happens. And they start jumping into the tank and pull. I'm sorry, Mingda. It's the top two teams take quarterbacks.

57:26And it's the third quarterback. And it's a JJ McCarthy type pick. If it's a... The court threw us the fifth quarterback take. I mean, where'd he go? With Levin? Nine. McCarthy with nine. He went nine. So think about that. I mean, I don't think Jerry must have fallen out of the top five. But I'm not really a team that remotely is a quarterback is passing a forward for a relationship. Here's... Listen, I just need... Listen, my stinginess is like this, man. My goal is, hey, Deshawha, I can get you little reps out of the way. I need your door sanders to throw up some yards and some stats. The Browns lose some game. And they fall about, oh, five. Four or five in the draft. Four looks like the sweet spot. Then you got three quarterbacks that went ahead of you. And now you sitting at four. And it's another quarterback like Lernorah Sellers. And he had a medium here. 2,500 yards, 13 touchdowns, 10 interceptions. And now I'm messing around. I might find me Jeremiah Smith.

We could have never got here. So we definitely appreciate you. Let's jump into our first topic. Your boy, Sando is back again. You know, every time he pulled up in the streets, people got it all. He got one of his lists. He didn't win around. He then pulled the audience like it was who wants to be a millionaire. And he pulled some executives, McNuggets, and some interesting little tidbits he came up with. Yeah, so Mike Sando writes for the athletic. And he's most known for his quarterback tears list, which we discussed at length earlier. He came on the show to discuss that this time. He ranked, well, actually, I should not say, let me rephrase that. He asked NFL executives to rank how they see each conference playing out this season. This is a big picture snapshot of the AFC based on the NFL executive. He talked to I know it's kind of small, but you can see of the six NFL executives.

1:03:35He talked to the Browns finished with an average score of 14.7, which means they finished second last. Just ahead of Miami dolphins. They're overall rankings. 14, 14, 15, 16, 13 and 16. And all six NFL executives picked them to finish with a top 10 pick. Sando included three quotes on each team in this article. These are the three that Mike Sando included about the Cleveland Browns. The first one, they doubled down on toxic. I don't know how anyone can think they are headed in the right direction. That was from NFL executive. The next NFL executive said, quote, I think their defense is not going to be good. And that quarterback situation is going to be a problem. And the final NFL executive said, quote, you didn't think the situation could get worse than the Sean. It got worse. Sanders is not good and brings. And the circus he brings is almost Tim Tiboish in a different fashion.

1:04:38And quote from an NFL executive. We can parse out each of the quotes individually in a second. But first and foremost, Zach, what do you make of the quotes? Overall and be in the Browns change the narrative in 2026. Or is that too short of a timeframe to flip the script? How was the rest of the play Mrs. Lincoln? Did you enjoy Dallas? Yes, so look, they're not high on the Browns in 2026. And I don't think the Browns are high on the Browns in 2026. This is a future based project. On June 1st, they traded the most gifted player in the league. They are sifting through the ashes of the worst trade in NFL history, which they've done to themselves and they've accepted some ways they've moved on from. But they have not moved on from the Sean Watson. They're putting him back on the field. It is toxic. That's 100%. It's the worst idea ever. That's 100%. So they're inviting this kind of stuff. And the one way they can bring it on is to not do things like send out the assistant GM,

1:05:38wearing a Los Angeles made me do it sweatshirt. Right? Is to not put the Sean Watson on the field to embarrass himself and the entire organization once again. But they're doing it. So this is the vibe and it will change when wins come. Yeah, everything you just said. Absolutely true. I don't blame anyone for the executives who are saying exactly what they said. It's right. It's a toxic situation with the Sean Watson. They got to move off of that. They're working towards that. The defense, I think they're going to be pretty good until you get an injury in the secondary. They're still very thin back there. It could really unravel very quickly over the course of a season. But I think there's talent there. And that's the thing about this whole thing. There's talent there. They are building towards it. But this year, if you thought the Browns were going to surprise everyone to make a Super Bowl run, I have some land to sell you in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean because that's just not going to happen. Yeah, man. They don't get into themselves. No favors, man. I wish people can read marketing and PR 101 type stuff, man.

1:06:38The one thing that you can sell to people when you are downtrodden, you don't have any money, your poor, your field of systems against you. You don't get people. The best thing you can always sell is hope. Hope is one of the power. We ain't dead in this year. But let me look on the football field and see what my future is ahead of me. When you sell hope, people will give you the benefit of the doubt. But if you are sitting there trying to sell some level of hope, but you holding onto the old stuff and you're trying to mix the old stuff with the new stuff, they don't work. Have you ever been in a fire before? You're in a fire. People always tell you this. They don't go through the hire of fire and picking shoes with things they want to take up. No, it's smoke damage. Smoke damage permeates everything. You don't just get what? The one garment didn't get just damaged and the other one is okay. No, the smoke has ruined all of it. So what you got to do is say, look, I know we traded miles gear. We got Jared verse. The best way to see this situation to do is easy.

1:07:40You should have just placed your door sanders. If he's good, good. If he's bad, okay. Guess what? If he's bad, guess what you get. You get a full sample size to fully know what you're going to do. And at the top of the game, you know you're going to get a quarterback. If he's good, you got a lottery ticket. Oh my goodness, this guy is actually good. Now we can go into the draft to figure something out. And guess what? If he's just entertaining, guess what? You at least you won't have the fans booing at you. You score a lot of touchdowns and the team is bad. People will say, well, guess what? There's a bunch of young guys out there playing hard. You look how they're going to be. And you can imagine. But when you're trying to serve, when you're a man without a country, it don't work that way. Because now you're going to have guys booing and guys not wanting to see you play. When you have guys that could be exciting players for you that they would cheer for. And there is hope on this team. There are young guys you're going to watch this year and go, man. Well, you're from now, that's going to be great. And that's good. You want that. This is the Browns and DeShawn are about to go through a divorce.

1:08:41Everyone knows it's coming. It's getting a little messy. But they're waiting on the paperwork to sign. And you can see what's next. And it looks great. And it looks nothing like what you've been through. It's still from the outside looking in. It's going to look bad. It's going to look toxic because it is. But again, you see the way out. You see the light at the end of the tunnel. And that's going to be June 1st when they designated him for a cut. Gee, to your point, I have not been in a fire. But I've been through 42 starting quarterbacks in 26 years here. Same thing. And to go back to this one. Right? Like it got toxic with Baker Mayfield. The team moved on. It didn't work out. It got toxic with my old scar. The team moved on. We'll see how it works out. It is still toxic with this guy. And they're putting him back on the field. And that right now overshadows the conversation. Yeah. There are bright spots on this team. We all lived through 2016 and 2017. That team did not have Carson Swessinger. Harold Fanon. Quinn Chun Judkins. Right now it was the bridge to getting Denzel Ward. Nick Chubb. Baker Mayfield.

1:09:41It was getting guys in here that could do the job the right way. And it opened up a new window. But that window slammed shut a couple of years ago. They've won eight games in two years. It shouldn't have even won that many. And for them to put the Sean Watson back on the field. It absolutely feels like a slap in the face to you as a fan. It should because that's what it is. Yeah. I don't think McNuggets did. By the way, the Browns aren't going to get the benefit of their dollar. Oh, you earned the benefit of your time. I'm about to. So that's why when people say, you know, you can get mad at what you should be had. Magda Browns should be three spots higher or the quarterback ranking should be four spots higher. Listen, at a certain point of time, G-Bush, even I want you to be, I can't save you. I can't. I can sell a fan base that says, hey, there's a young player that we think. Let's see what he can do or let's. You did the right thing and the Monteneggeri Judy. Denzel Boston is about to receive her X. Figure it out. Yeah, you had your chance. You had a bad training camp. Here you go. Casey Kitseption. You drafted him.

1:10:42Don't write you going to give him reverses and all kind of make sure you touch the football, right? But why are you doing the other stuff? Just go ahead and rip the bandaid off and go with the youth and just see what it is. And then we can all move along. But sometimes people have to figure out and learn on their own. They do. They do. And this is a learning season. Look, even people who are fairly optimistic have to understand this is way more about developing, evaluating, identifying, maybe acquiring when the trade deadline comes around, but continuing to develop and evaluate these guys. A couple of them are going to be great and are on their way. Some of them are just going to be good. You would love to be in a situation where you feel good about every position group except quarterback. You could even be in a situation where you feel okay about quarterback. One should or sometimes comes, right? But is that really realistic? I don't know. But this is a very talented young core. It's just so overshadowed and anchored down by the fact that the Sean Watson is going back on the field. And this team will not just come out and say where it is, which is trying to be bad, trying to be young and pointing all arrows forward.

1:11:45Can we get a tracker every show now that just count down to June 1st? The divorce for the papers are signed. Well, it will actually happen before then. Yeah, it will be a process on June 1st. They'll open up some things. So do we celebrate when it's announced or when it happens? It will be when this season ends and he's out or when he's pulled in two weeks or two weeks. It will be, but why is it taken in that long? It's an excellent question. My goal for the year and if you want to have an NFL films, you know, back in the day I used to watch them with my dad. And NFL films are so good that your team could be two and something. And the way they wrote them footage up, boy, you mean thinking like a team on the move, the Cleveland Browns, the rise that nobody sees. You're like, what? Like they won two games. Like here's the slogan. We want to make Sundays fun again. That's it. We want to make Sunday fun again. We just want to make Sunday fun again.

1:12:45Make Sunday fun again. It don't matter. Listen, if the defense ain't going to have injuries and it's going to be a boat race, hey, man, I want to, I'll sign up for a 28 point game. If you throw three touchdowns and maybe a couple of picks, but we close. I'll sign up for you. You guys boat racing you back up in the field, but we get back into it with a punt return. I'll sign up for it for tying the football game up and going over time and losing because you're doing like those are things with young players. You can legitimately say I know the Browns are bad, but guess what? I'm excited for Sunday and perception matters. And as good as the Browns defense was last year, right? And gee, I'm going to ask you a question. Even at what we're going to do with thousands of simulations next segment. What's the percentage chance the Browns offense this year is as good as the Browns defense was last year, like 2%. If that 1%. Yeah. The Browns defense was top three. That's what I'm saying. So like incredibly, importantly, point five.

1:13:46Okay. You could have an all time good defense and last year wasn't an all time good defense, but if your offense can't score, the experience on Sundays, a fan is going to be brutal. There's only so many three announce you can watch. And there's only so many times, Miles can get four sex, but your offense doesn't capitalize on those opportunities before you drive yourself mad. If this team is fun and it's flipped and they're losing 36 to 33, we will feel so much differently about this team, even if it's the same situation where one unit is significantly further along than the other. I want to phrase and coin and trademark the brand and it probably already is, but make Sundays fun again. Because that is at minimum, if you're not going to be a team competing for a playoff spot or competing for a Super Bowl, make Sundays fun. It changes everyone in this city's vibe and the overall perception of the team because it's a lot easier to say, oh, we can show up the defense with the signing here there.

1:14:48Then it is to turn an offense that was purely dreadful last season into a competitive unit, even with some nice additions, like Casey Concepcion, like Denzel Boston, like revamping the offensive line. I co-sign she say it with me makes Sundays fun again. I'll give you two great examples in real time where season was the Browns weren't very good, but we love them. Baker makes his first year when he broke the rookie touchdown record. That was a low bar to overcome, but yes, you're right. That was fun. But when he got in, he didn't start the season. He came in and won that judge game, the game. And then the next week we get an opportunity to see him and Nick Chubb, Nick Chubb breaks two long runs against a three carries 105 yards. I said, who's this dude? So now you got Chubb, you got Baker throwing the football, you feel good about it. Then you go back and you look at the see a few prior seasons before. Go back and look at the Jason Campbell, cynical wireless, Jake Delong, the Brandon Ween era,

1:15:49where we just rode over every single day. We knew he was getting smog, but we had to do named Josh Gordon. And we're like, we're just, we're just tuning in to see how many 200 yards games he can get. We don't care if we run the ball, just throw it out there and see him run away from people. I love them seasons. We were trash. We were not good. But you see what I'm saying? If you can put some points on the board and look decent, we'll take it. We'll look forward to the season coming up, man. But don't have us out here with veterans and Deshine Watson throwing five yard out passes and you're trying to convince me that this is what it's supposed to look like. No, we're not doing that. I mean, there's a whole section of the fan base that has a great time every Sunday. Right. They're in the munilot. They don't know what happens during the game and they just go into work Monday. Go ahead and we were loose. I can't remember. That's it. That's, this is why we got the best fans in the world. That munilot is packed every single week and y'all still keep showing up, man. Shout out to y'all, man. Well, one of the best segments that I like when McNuggets has been doing lately is these simulations, man.

1:16:49We got a thing called a thousand simulations. He's going to tell us the best, the worst, the middle, and we're going to argue about it. We'll do that coming up next right here in the ultimate season sports show. Don't go anywhere. Oh. Oh.

And basically the premise of this is, if you simulated the 2026 season for the Browns, a thousand times, what would be the best outcome? What would be the worst or the 1000th outcome? And what's the median? And how close is the median to either being the best or the worst for each individual player? So we're gonna give us a try and we are going to start with the Sean Watson. If you simulated his season 1000 times, Chris, what is the best case? What is the number one outcome in these simulations for the Sean Watson? Best case for the Sean Watson, at least for the Browns with the Sean Watson

1:20:12is that he doesn't play again. I'm not gonna say rooting for an injury or anything, but if he retires or something, that'd probably be the best thing for the Browns. Obviously, best case for the Sean though is he rounds into form and it's as simple as just playing winning football. The stats don't have to be astronaut, but if he can prove, he can go out there, play winning football, that's the best case for the Sean and his future because then he becomes a free agent after the year and maybe he has a chance to catch on somewhere as a backup or with a team that needs a bridge quarterback. If you want stats on it, I said best case, 3000 yards, 25 touchdowns, eight interceptions. Those are good numbers. I don't know if physically he can have those numbers, but that's my best case scenario for the Sean Watson play winning football. Zach, you got the worst case simulation. So this simulation, 1000 out of 1000, what's the worst case for the Sean in 2026? What's exactly gonna happen? He's gonna go out and fail. He's gonna succeed on a couple of eight yard passes. He's gonna throw picks. He's gonna show you that he's not mentally right. And after two games, the Browns are gonna face a decision

1:21:13to allow themselves to be embarrassed again by the scene at home or pull the plug on their grant latest experiment after two games. It's just not good anymore. And the level at which he would have to play to justify this decision is so beyond attainable. So that's the worst case scenario and I think that's where we're headed. And he goes, you got the 500, the median, the middle. What do you think happens? So most realistically for the Sean. So the mid is really kind of bad too. So if you're mid, you go back and look at it. I think what the mid performance is, the coaches do a really good job of making sure that he's only gonna throw certain routes that he's going to be a person who's going to mitigate the losses or mitigate the turnovers. However, because he does not have those throws down field, there's not cable making those throws down a field. The run game is stagnant because the box is loaded. And they make it easier for them to keep games close. You know, he'll probably end up, if it was medium,

1:22:14if he played the rest of the season, he'd probably do something like 2,400 yards, maybe 10 touchdowns, eight interceptions, maybe a touchdown on the ground, but he's still inconsistent and doesn't hit beat passes. And the real problem is with those numbers, the way they are and smoking mirrors, they don't get the idea until it's week seven, week eight, week nine. And then they finally pull the plug. It's middle October, it's cold outside, you throw shit or sanders in the game. You don't have a sample size to understand if he's gonna be good or not. And then we're right back at the beginning of the year where you still don't have to shine watch on an roster. You don't know if the shit or the or sanders is any good. Andrew got picks and you're right back to another quarterback conversation with no new information. Yeah, I mean, we're not dealing with much optimism here. We are dealing with mystery because we don't know how it's gonna look, but we all expect as you just said, a plan that really takes the ball out of his hands. Doesn't ask him to do too much, right? They would love to stack up heavy formations and run the ball, throw off a play action,

1:23:16easy stuff, use Casey Concepcion in the very short game or even in the run game and just basically take the ball out of his hands. And then even if you go to the good side, say what if it does go well for two quarters, three quarters? Where is the sky mentally the first thing that goes wrong? That's it. And you're gonna find out in the game setting and it's not probably not gonna be good. And that's the thing with the Sean, we can keep arguing physically what he can and can't do. The shoulder surgery, the Achilles, I think he's gonna be fine as a runner, which maybe a reason why he's out there is they're not gonna ask him to throw the ball whole lot. They're gonna have him run around. But yeah, mentally, we can't see it, we can't quantify it until it goes so badly that you have to pull him. And that's the enigma of the Sean Watson right now. Man, it's a thing, the game of football is such a middle game. It's a game of swings and motions. And it's a game where you gotta believe, even though when everything in front of you telling you to opposite, you have to believe you can do it. And for those players on the football field or 22 that's playing, you put them in a bad situation where they feel like even in home games,

1:24:18they have a adversity at home games. It's tough enough to not to have adversity when teams are good and you have turnovers and penalties. But now you're saying we have to play perfect or our own fan base is not gonna support us and try to get us over to home. And that's something I have never seen. And I've been watching football for years. I've never seen that. So it's just a tough one. Let's get to our next player. Thousand simulations, Zach, what is the best case? The number one simulation outcome for Jared verse. Well, Jared verse is substance over style, but the best case is like he just gets hot and rips off 14 ish sacks. This guy is a power player. This guy is an ascending player. He's here for leadership reasons. He's here for brute strength reasons. He's here because he's a pretty good player at a premium position. So he, he refines his skill. He puts up the big numbers. He does all the things from the leadership. Like this could be an all pro player. This is not the greatest athlete in the galaxy. Like the guy he's replacing.

1:25:19He's not being here to do that. But the ceiling to me is all pro level play. I do think it's attainable. Yeah, listen, I like that. I mean, if he give me 14 sacks, it won't be like Miles Garrett, who? But it will give us, it'll make us feel good. You know what I'm saying? Like if you get a break up, and then for some reason, a supermodel walks in and say, hey, let's go for coffee, I still might be a little hurt inside, but I'm gonna take that date. I'm gonna take this date right here if your verse gonna give me 14. I'd feel a little better by myself. Gee, you got the worst case. The 1,000th simulation for Jared verse. Worst case scenario is he is playing. He's the focal point of the defense. And they treat him as the focal point of the defense. He sees all the, all the double teams. He, they run away from him. They make other people, especially guys in the middle make tackle, Isaiah McGuire. They gonna make sure that you got to prove to me that those other guys can play. And one thing that we talk about,

1:26:19and we don't wanna see is his availability. So the worst case scenario is that he get doubles a lot. They make sure that his numbers ain't gonna look a certain way. And because of nagging injuries throughout the season, he misses maybe three games or so, or he's hampered the rest of the season. And then his numbers look like four sacks, but he's good against the run, but the defense still is bad because they got other people out. And so now you're like, well, his production goes down from, he averaged six sacks of season. Now he's at four. He's been nicked up the whole season. And the defense has given up yards, which the fan base hasn't seen in a long time. So therefore it's easier to just be like, look at this, we didn't fell off. Look what Jared verse gave. And then you got the miles Garrett numbers. And he's ripping off four sacks of game out. Now lay doing this sack dance with his guy in the middle who just came out. Yeah, yeah. So that's the worst case scenario guys. Nasty work. Chris, you're the 500 middle ground. Where do you see Jared verse realistically finished

1:27:20in the 2026 season? Here's why you trade for Jared verse because his middle ground, his floor is still really good. I put down exactly what he has been. Eight sacks, 11 tackles for a loss and he makes a proble. That would be great. And that's what he has been is just really good. I do think he's ascending. I do think he will surpass that. And I do think we have to remember when you compare miles Garrett to Jared verse. If you compare Jared verses numbers to mild Garrett's record setting numbers, you are going to be disappointed every time. That does not mean that Jared verse if he doesn't get 30 sacks isn't a good player. It wasn't a good trade. I think Jared verse will be very good this year. But his floor is 500. What he's going to be his average, eight sacks, 11 and a half tackles for a loss and a proble. I think you take that 10 times out of time. Yeah, I think when you talk in sack numbers, it's discussion that often lacks context, right? But what do you guys think is fair? Like a seven and a half, if I said his over under for the season of seven and a half? Yeah, yeah. I want to see, I've got to see eight. I want to see eight because I think we need eight.

1:28:24Sure. But like if he said, if he hadn't finished with seven sacks and was disruptive otherwise, you'd say this is a good player. Yeah, if he finishes with seven sacks and Mason Graham, Malik Collins, my call have eight nine sacks each, you'd say great. Because that's where again, you lose the context verse getting the double teams opens up everybody else. He's extension eligible after the season. I don't think the raw sack numbers comes into whether it's 80 million guaranteed or 60 million guaranteed, but like how he handles the double teams and the other things that he does, just disrupting the game leading the team. And the loss of Alex Raid is major because it is such a downgrade opposite him that you make a great point about the double teams going to his way. Yeah, listen, I make everybody else. Nobody, y'all gonna have to make plays until further notice. He's gonna get the bulk of all my attention. And if we can shut that down, we're ready to go. Don't let somebody, Jared verse or Carson Swayce as you're telling you right now, everybody need to be in church praying for them. Because one of them at the defensive backfield on your head and didn't say a word. If any of them three go down, we've

1:29:26talked about making them making Sunday's fun again. We might have to go ahead and change that slogan up a little bit if that happens, but we'll see what we can do. You know what can help make Sunday's fun again, G? What's that? If a certain somebody lives up to the expectations that you believe he could, Shadour Sanders last up in our thousand simulations exercise, Jibush, the number one outcome in these 1000 simulations for Shadour Sanders will look like what? If this is the top of the food chain, the Holy Grail, well, listen, here's how it works. Dishonned Watson comes in does not look good, right? Now I'm not wishing Dishonned Watson. I wanna get you twisted. I'm not wishing you don't look good. You can go out and do anything, but this is a short conversation. So he doesn't look good in those first two games. Shadour comes out and the fans are waiting to boo Dishonned Watson. They figure out Shadour Sanders is playing. They got a team in a Carolina Panthers and he does exactly what Baker Mayfield did against the Jets a couple of years ago. When people are starved, people are upset,

1:30:26people that saw L's, people don't like the direction. You automatically get that boost. He comes in and he throws three touchdown passes against the Panthers. The Browns offense looks like it's moving up and down the field and that boost that you get from those individuals turns the page. Now guys are interesting the rest of the year. Shadour plays a solid season. He does still have turnovers, you know, say for instance he ends the season, but he has 21 touchdowns and maybe five interceptions. How creative is he is that? 21 and five, it ain't world-breaking numbers. But the thing that he will do and the thing that people love is he throws the ball down field. You see Denzel Boston. You see Casey Kiseps, John, making catches. Harold Fanon is making catches and people come up and come to the stadium to do this because people just want to be fun. They want to see what's going. They want to see the ball in the end zone. Him and Todd Monkin get together and guess what? They look like they got a little chemistry. By at the end of the year, the question is supposed to be,

1:31:30Shadour is pretty good this year. What you think we're gonna do at quarterback? That's where he needs to get to. He don't need to come out here and be like, he's bar none to quarterback right now today. Put up a number where you're fun and make it hard when you make the choice difficult. Yep. So I got the middle ground here with Shadour and I think it's about what we'll see. I think he will get opportunity to play. I think he will energize the fan base, the offense. I think he will throw it down the field. You'll see his accuracy on display. I think as it goes, you'll see that it's maybe not all there. It's not going to be easy for him as a developing, developmental player to come in and have sustained success. I do believe in Shadour's ability to get better. I think he has gotten better. I wonder what his ceiling is. I wonder what his ceiling can be when it comes to decision time. The window is closing. So I think what we'll see the middle ground for Shadour is a little like last year. A better version, a more polished version. I think you'll see some good. I think you'll see some bad. I don't think you'll see enough for the Browns to say this is the guy we're going forward with.

1:32:32All right. And the worst case scenario. Again, I want to preface this to all of his fans. Now what I think is going to happen, but this is what I was told to do. They gave it to David. They gave it to David. See how he set it up. I'm innocent. They gave him the, he had, it was only three choices. He got the wrong truck. I told me nothing to give me worst case because they were going to buy all just G-Bridge. But the way he went down, this is what happened. Go ahead Chris. OK. The worst case scenario for Shadour is that he doesn't get a lot of playing time and that he does not show what he can do in that playing time. You want to put numbers on it. I mean, five touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 50% completion percentage, in like four or five starts. The offense gets stagnant. I do think he's progressed, but maybe on the field, he doesn't show that he's really progressed. And he looks the same as last year. And most importantly, the Browns don't score points. The Browns lose games. He has to play darn near perfect when he gets his opportunity if he wants to change that narrative,

1:33:33heading into next draft, where those quarterbacks are going to be sitting there. You want him to play near perfect so that all of a sudden the Browns, if they have a top more pick, go, man, Jeremiah Smith. Yeah. He looks real good. Imagine what we could do with him. So yeah, worst case scenario is he shows what he did last year. He doesn't take that next step. And he does not show that he is capable of being the Browns long-term starter this year, maybe down the line with another team he can. But it's about this year. Maybe he doesn't do it this year in his time that he's given. He will probably not be the Browns starting quarterback at 80's stretch. And is this guy or needs to go at the bottom? The news by Chris Renkel were forced upon here. I have to tell you. They do not necessarily reflect the views. His personal views on the quarterback should or Sanders number two, they see you on T's or Coach Prime. There you go. Now speed that up 10 times and put the little tiny to play. Yeah, you listen. All you got to do now is take that. You can clip that you, you. Jason can use that. Bull could use that.

That being said, he's got to do it for himself. Like he's got to show anybody else. There's 31 other jobs out there too. So this is an interesting situation. And when he does come in, he will have, forget about his fan base online or whatever. Like the city, the team, if it goes anywhere close to the way we think it's going to go, the runway will be there to go and make it happen. Make it exciting again. Browns fans are so starved for a good quarterback. We got behind Brian Hoyer for a while. Brian Hoyer, nice guy. I'm sure he's a great person.

1:35:33He was not a very good quarterback. He was a career back up. But man, he showed something and everyone's like the Sadignace kid. He's going to save us. It's not going to take much to get that entire stadium behind Shadour. And it sets up like that. It set up like that because we're sitting here looking at it. You're right. I've seen Kurt McCoy come in here and they love them. I've seen all kind of, at this point, the Browns fan base is so upset that all he got to come out here and do is be confident and look like he know what he doing and put some energy and some charisma. And you're all right. He's going to get a long runway because the fans, the fans, there are some people who never liked Shadour Sanders that are sitting here today saying, I want to see two play. And I never thought that was possible. So things happen to have a way of being mysteriously excited. So we'll take it. Speaking of, man, we need some serious things to keep going popping off down with the Guardians. Yeah, they got four games coming up here with the Tigers. They need to get this done. How big of a move is this?

We'll see if that happens with all the rain going on in downtown Cleveland right now. However, we did get some roster moves this morning from the Guardians Tim Stebbins reporting that Colin Holderman is headed to the 15-day injure list. Slade Sikone has been activated off the 15-day injure list. Austin Peterson has been recalled from Columbus while Carlos Hernandez has been DFA. They just recently called up Hernandez and he has already been designated for assignment. Guys, it's a four game set against the Tigers this weekend. The first game, 2-10, the second game tonight, 7-10. On Apple, Chris, how big of a series is this for the Guardians who desperately need someone's before the schedule gets a little tougher down the stretch? Gigantic, because I think you can put away the Tigers

1:39:43if you win three or four, or if you sweep them, which would be great for the Guardians, they got enough to worry about, but not just that. The Whitesocks are playing the twins. So if you look at that, Whitesocks likely going to win that series. If you get swept or you lose three or four to the Tigers and the Whitesocks win two or three, then you're putting yourself in a huge hole for the AL Central. And then when it comes to the wild card, Baltimore's got Boston, Texas has Tampa Bay. So if you take three or four and they lose those series, then you put a little distance with yourself in the wild card and over 162, you can't really pinpoint one stretch or one game in the moment that means a ton. But we're at the point of the year that you could point to this four game series, guys. And it absolutely means a ton. They have to win this series, especially with the way that things went with the Blue Jays. It wasn't good. Yeah, I read the Tigers as a team wanting to be put out of its misery. Yeah. You have to do it. So like, yes, probably mathematically, they can keep treading water, but make us believers.

1:40:43Yeah, people excited again. We know it's September. We know what's coming. Make people still want to watch the Guardians and make them believe in this team. Because I see a bad baseball team that still has a pulse. So like change, change my perception is what I'm saying to them. Yeah, especially the way in with the Blue Jays, you know, there's, there's too many series against the teams that you're supposed to do something with. And you put yourself in a situation where you don't want to get to the last week and say, we got to win all these games to get into playoffs. That's just not, you want to give yourself some sort of leeway a little slack to be able to lose tough games. But this is where they are. They're going to need to come in here. I don't know if they're going to be able to get them in. This weather has been crazy the last couple of days. But hey, the way that, who did this, this way the couple of weeks ago? They started the game and then they were, the weather came, they let them play and they can, with y'all OS one. Well, we, we have home now. Listen, a bad day. Let's get it done. Can you tell them, let them know. We're going to, we're going to throw this one for a little bit,

Thank you. A 95% chance of rain at one o'clock is 70% chance for, first pitch it at two o'clock. And then it'll clear up for a little bit. And then we have chances of rain in the 40s, the 50s and down to the 30s from eight o'clock onto about midnight. So it's going to be a red, rainy start to liberate a week in here. So you're telling me there's a chance. You're right. You're telling me there's a chance, man. And then plus two, I mean, they, you know, they liquidated a bullpen a little bit too. I honestly wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if they didn't play the game. They didn't play like, you know what I'm saying? Like, let me get back to healthy a little bit. That's the Ciccone activation. I mean, they count on him for some innings for sure.

1:42:44Yeah, so it's going to be in there today. So, you know, it's a big series for them. If they can come in here and get the Tigers off the books, it then gives you, it still sets up. Because I think the WKYC still own the tiebreaker. And they got a series coming up with them in the 14 through the 16. So they had the tiebreaker. You almost really have to sweep the WKYC socks. Yeah, you do have to sweep the WKYC socks. So, I don't know if you can just keep counting on sweeping everybody. Because there's now still a point where you say, OK, well, if you don't sweep the Tigers, you might need to sweep the Orioles or you might need to get twins when you catch them slipping, but to even be in contention. What I need to see to believe is I need to see them jump on some teams, right? I don't want to turn it on and feel like, because they're down to 0 that it's over. Like, I want to see them get the lead, get some confidence and maybe build some of that momentum. And then maybe you are in a position where you don't have to sweep the WKYC socks. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you look at that upcoming schedule. If you fail against the Tigers, then the Orioles who then might jump you, depending on how their weekend series goes in the wildcard, then all of a sudden,

1:43:45you got the Orioles coming in. You have to sweep them just to get back on the right side of things. Yeah. They have an easy schedule going to the end of the year. But those are some critical series, like you said. If you drop a series to a team you should beat like Detroit, then that Orioles series gets so much more important than when Boston comes, then that's so much more important. And you're putting yourself behind the eight ball, like we've seen all year. But with this team, you want to say, believe, I want to watch a game where it doesn't feel like I'm already watching a postseason game where you're hanging on every pitch because one mistake could be the difference. Let's have an 11 to two game again. Let's get some runs and be like, 11 weeks for them. I know, right? I turn off the game in the fourth inning and be like, I don't have to watch the rest because we know they're going to win. For some people, I would just like to say, like, I know we get pitching, but I would trade a medium pitching performance for some bats. It's the Browns conundrum. Yeah, it is. We got some big time games on deck and some major changes to our top 10. Walk us through it. Yeah, let's start with last week's game of the week. G-Boost, you weren't here for the McKinley St. Ed's preview. But if you didn't see the highlights, it's all the video because it was a good one. And St. Ed's, they were one of the best teams in Division 1, McKinley also won the best teams in the area. And boy, St. Ed's got all over McKinley 22 to 8 is the final. McKinley didn't score an offensive touchdown. Their only points came on this pick six.

1:48:07St. Ed's might be the real deal. They were out of the running the last couple of years for Division 1, but now they look like they are right back in. And so we go to our top 10 where we have a shake up. And it is kind of previewed by the fact that Ed's beat up on McKinley because they are the new number one team in our ultimate top 10 here. But the people at WKYC, all the odds makers deciding that the Eagles good enough for number one, you can make a case for Basel and two and oh, they have jumped up to number two, Walsh in third, Kirkland. We'll talk about them in a second, they are fourth, and Menner, we'll also talk about them in a second. It rounds out our top five as we look at the rest of the top 10, Glenville, up from number 10 to number seven. Of course, they were overshadowed what happened off the field, but on the field, they did beat Olintangie Liberty 34 to 13 a good win for the tarblutters. McKinley down to number nine and Avan, our number one team, but boy, they lost the Pine Richland out of Western Pennsylvania, 48 to 18. The Eagles are still going to be a very good team in division two,

1:49:08but they're currently just on top 10 in Hobin, fell out of our rankings as they are, O and two. So guys, it's time for our picks of our games of the week and we're going to start with our WKYC Game of the Week, the Battle of 2-2 and O teams in his Kirkland at Perry, G-Bush. Oh, man, I'm going to go with Kirkland. I'm going to go with Kirkland. Perry has a good program. Usually, you know these teams are good because those are the teams you hear all the time when it comes to the Division One State Championship, or you're using me through high school, not D1, but whatever division they are. Those are the guys who always you hear Perry, you hear Kirkland. I'm going to go ahead with Kirkland on this one. I'm going to stamp them with the G-Bush Lock of the Week. It's wild to go against Kirkland. We're in Tiger Lover, he's won like 96. Right, 25% of his games, but Perry made a statement last week, so I'm going to go with the Perry Barrett in this one. But it's certainly worthy of being the game of the week. We'll have highlights at 11 o'clock on WKYC if you want to see how that one ends up. I'm also going with Perry. Kirkland, again, a good team.

1:50:08They just beat Poland Seminary last week, 36-34. But Perry, I think they've looked good this year, so I'm going with Perry. All right, our second game of the week, our pick is Holy Name at Madison, a battle of one in one teams. Holy Name just lost seven, nothing, a closer one to Gilmore Academy. Madison's had some tough teams in the first two weeks, G-Bush. I'm going with Holy Name, man. They're going to get off the Schneider here. Listen, Dave had a little trouble actually scoring a football this week. I'm going to go with Holy Name. I'm here to go against G-Bush. That's some blue street. Back in the wing, Kyle. I'm going to go with Madison as well. I think they're just a little more battle tested at this point. And yeah, hold on. I'm just going to get in the ground here. Look, look, they win against the grain. I win against the grain. I'm making it up some ground from that St. Es McKinley loss. I took good this. Our last pick, this could have been the game of the week, but we're going to give both these teams, I think, love down the stretch. It's a good one is Adjon Carroll, Menner and St. Ignatius.
