CLOSER: Oklahoma State's FloWrestling Youth Movement Projection SHOULD Chip Away At Penn State!
About this episode
FloWrestling has put out their projected Cowboy Wrestling lineup with a few surprises. After Troy Spratley & Jax Forrest things are set to get a little crazy from both Jayden & Jordan Raney, DreShaun Ross and many more. Is this lineup good enough to keep chipping away at Penn State. The real question is will this leadership led veteran depth be the biggest difference between this upcoming season in comparison to the last 2 years?

Well we get the slide right into this rasteland conversation. We are going to get to the top Oregon ducks and top cowboys a little bit later in the
next episode. But for now to go with the theme of being some Newland horse riding wrestling dudes. Let's talk a little bit of wrestling. Last year we were able to chip away a little bit at Penn State the year prior was a little bit of a bigger gap. I think we do chip away once again this year. Do we get close enough to pass them. We'll see and we'll dive into that a little bit more in segment two. So let's get to the lineup flow wrestling. Star off 125 pounds with Troy Spratley. I wholeheartedly agree. Not only should the speed Troy Spratley is weighted 125 pounds, but this might be the best version we've ever seen out of Troy Spratley year three now into the Oklahoma State system. A couple of years ago competed for national championship last year. I do think that beating Vincent Robinson and then turning around a couple of matches later and losing to Vincent Robinson is definitely what deflated. I'm probably Spratley from maintaining that national championship container status. I firmly believe that he'll be more motivated than ever to get back to that level this year on top of the fact that he now has Rockland Zinkin behind him pushing him.
And there's also the possibility of Ronnie Ramirez who could push at 125 who could push out 133 last year. He wrestled folk style 133 but freestyle he went 125. So I think Ronnie could be somebody maybe with a little bit of extra weight that could push Troy to new heights this upcoming season. Then you go to 133 pounds. I think everybody agrees with Jack's force being the guy here. Although there is a common consensus that eventually both Jack's force and Sergio Vega will bump up and wait. But I personally believe that Jack's force wants to face the best and right now 133 might be the best weight out there. It's definitely one of the best weights out there. And I think that Jack's once won another national championship knowing that he's going to have to go through the Marcus Blazes and the Bendivinos and the Aaron side-ales of the world to get there. And then you also have to cook them back in the fold of things. 133 is an ultimate challenge that I think Jack's wants. So I see Jack staying at 133 pounds. 141. This is where things get a little interesting because I do think that Sergio Vega will inevitably
end up bumping up at some point in time. Flow wrestling has him doing it this year with Jaden Rainey being the starter at 141 pounds. He very well may be right. And he probably knows far more than I do. But I think that if you could already win an actual title at 141, if you can maintain that weight that could potentially put Oklahoma State in the best position to capitalize it. Otherwise for that reason, I personally would like to see Sergio Vega stick around this 141 pound range with Rainey obviously pushing to make things much more complicated than again. You have to factor Ronnie Ramirez into that conversation to some degree as well. Sergio Vega I think should be the dude, but I also think that there will be a rainy at the next weight 149 pounds while flow wrestling has Sergio moving up to 149. I have the other rainy Jordan Rainey fulfilling the spot. However, I don't think it'll be super simplistic because let's not forget about taking Jameson. Hagen Jameson was kind of forgotten about last year due to that injury that didn't allow
him to wrestle. This is going to be a year fully healthy for taking Jameson. This could be an opportunity for him to push the ultimate incoming freshman. The difference is, Hagen's more of an old school, John Smith style of wrestler. Jaden and Jordan both are very big and scoring points. David Taylor wants to do is that can score points. So if Hagen Jameson has grown in the point scoring category, I wouldn't be surprised to see him kind of start around this weight to begin the season. At some point in time, I wouldn't be surprised either to see Jordan Rainey take the rains at 149 pounds. 157 were on the same page here. It should be Lannan Robado, returning national championship. Guy, it's got to be Lannan Robado once again. Now there is going to be some competition from somebody like Dakota Rutledge, but at the same point in time, it kind of feels like if you could do it last year as a sawdoth bulldog. If you know more this year, you're more technically sound plus you have more advancements in the training weight conditioning room.
It could be another year for a national championship about 157 pounds with Lannan Robado. Then you moved 165 or things get complicated. He talked about Deloitte and Casey Siversky, essentially going back and forth, which I wholeheartedly agree with. And I also agree that it should eventually be Deloitte's weight, but I don't know if I agree that Deloitte will begin the season at that weight. But again, if Deloitte begins the season there and the Casey takes the next duel and they kind of flop back and forth for a little bit, I agree with Flow Wrestling in that category of something that could easily happen. But I wouldn't be surprised if Casey Siversky does begin the season at 165 because if you were dropping two weight classes and you were an all-American at 149, just the energy that you now have at your natural weight should be on display.
And that should push Deloitte at the end of the season to get up on that podium and potentially make a run because Deloitte is definitely good enough. He's darn sure good enough to make a run at a national title. And now that he has somebody at their natural weight in Casey Siversky that is a grinder that is going to be difficult for him to overcome on a daily basis that should just make Deloitte better. So I think Deloitte does end up at this spot, but I don't think it's crazy to envision Casey Siversky beginning the season at that spot with it being his natural weight. Then you moved 174 pounds, we're in agreement here. It should be Lorenzo Norman. He's an all-American level dude at Stanford. He comes to Oklahoma State. We've seen what David Taylor can do with all-American level guys with just one extra year of training and development in that RTC program. And especially now with more veterans, which we're about to get to in second two, we could be able to chip away more and more at Penn State this upcoming season.
And I think Alex Faccundo is really, really good in terms of being able to push, to be able to make Lorenzo Norman better. But Lorenzo does seem to have more offensive capabilities. That is what we need. So I too see Lorenzo Norman taking the starting spot out 174 pounds. And you go to 184 pounds. We have another little discrepancy here. Flo restling believes that Zach Ryder will start the season and be ready to rock and roll throughout the entirety of the season. After watching what he did last year with one arm, I hope that that is the case. However, with it only being handful of months out of a surgery and knowing that he's a guy that loves under hooks, he loves to utilize his upper body, I think it's going to take a little bit longer for him to get back. Then I think you also have to take into consideration that David Taylor factor. The same reason I think Lorenzo Norman could compete for an actual national championship, top two, top three kind of category.
I think the same could be said to some degree about Bennett Bergey. Do I think Bennett Bergey is going to compete for a title per se? Not, but Lorenzo Norman should. This is why we get to this 184 conversation. I think that Bennett Bergey will start the season at this weight because I don't know that Zach Ryder is going to be 100% ready to go by the beginning of the season just because of how he utilizes his upper body to win so many matches. For that reason, I don't have Zach Ryder beginning the season at 184. I do have Bennett Bergey and I wouldn't be crazy surprised to see Bennett Bergey kind of hold on to it. If he can take one of those Dean Hamiddy, Wyatt Henderson kind of jumps, then it's going to be hard for Zach Ryder to swoop in there and take that spot. It's going to be the same conversation for Lorenzo Norman. They can get those Dean Hamiddy, Wyatt level jumps, then they should not only be on the podium, they should be in the conversation for competing for national championship.
He's the mayoral, the kung fu pan and himself. He's the guy. We know he's the dude. Now could you potentially factor in a Mikey White here? He'd have to put on some weight, but we can't forget about Mikey White and Flo Ressling mentioning him, which I'm very glad that they did because you all know my personal opinion on Mikey White. I think within a year or so, he's going to be an easy all-American candidate. He's going to be a national champion candidate. So if Zach Ryder, Benne Berge, even 174, maybe he could get down there, maybe he could bump up a little bit. Mikey White is going to be a jack of all trades at a couple different weights in my personal opinion. That's a name that we need to pay attention to that will probably do some things in some open tournaments that is extremely impressive. But it's got to be Benne Berge for me to start the year. Was Zach Ryder coming in? And then at 197, it's got to be the Kung Fu Panda Cody Merrill. Then we get to heavyweight.
It's got to be Dray Sean, right? No disrespect to Connor Deussette. We know how good Connor Deussette is. He was a top seven dude last year and like four or five guys ahead of him, graduated, Trumble graduated, Gedali graduated. So there should be a little bit of an opening here for a Connor Deussette. The problem is he's in the same room as Dray Sean Ross. Dray Sean Ross is just a animal, a point scoring machine. In a year that we need as many points as physically possible to try to do what Chip away at Penn State, I believe that Dray Sean Ross will be the guy here at heavyweight, which really kind of stinks for Connor Deussette because he's earned that spot. But David Taylor has never shied away from wrestling the top wrestler in the moment regardless of what age or what year they are.
And knowing that he's trying to chip away at this Penn State or deal and knowing that he's going to have an opportunity. If you get development, Avila Rinzo and Benne that you got close to out of Dean and Wyatt, if you can get another reincarnation of freshman national champions and either Jordan or Jayden Rainey to go alongside with Dray Sean Ross, those are the things that Penn put Oklahoma State in a position to finally take down the Penn State or shall I say the mighty Penn State, Knitney Lions. Let me down down in the comments section what were your thoughts on the flow wrestling projection and did you have different chiasis between what I'm thinking because I do think it'll be a rainy. I just have it Jordan Rainey as opposed to Jayden Rainey and I think Zach Ryder will probably eventually be the guy. I think that Benne Berge likely starts out there. Let me know down in the comments section what your thoughts are in regards to this upcoming a wrestling team.
We got to talk a little bit about Kousey because it's that time of year for us all to get excited football season is here not only college football but obviously NFL ball and I love rocking with the Cowboys that are in the NFL. So like you before the season kicks off, I'm trying to make predictions on who's going to win the divisions and who's going to play for the Super Bowl who's going to win the Super Bowl on Kousey America's number one prediction market platform. You can trade those predictions and a live market. Phrase your way to the top because Kousey it's just trading peer to peer in a live market and I'll tell you the Detroit Lions are probably going to be my squad. If they end up in the NFC championship game against the LA Rams which does make the most amount of sense, they only have a 14% odd of getting this thing done. So at 14% you throw down a hundred pounds and it gets you $673.72 back. So why not have some fun trading this way on Kousey get behind the lines because they
not only got Tyler Lacey Malcolm Rodriguez but they've also got Tay Martin and they recently just picked up a men of Bung Bami got. So get with Kousey today where you're trading against peers and a live market meaning there's no house and that's the probabilities change. You can go in and out of buying positions trade the draft pick the game and more on Kousey. The Kousey app you can use a code locked on one word to get 10 bucks when you trade on 10 bucks. Yet another reason why I think the cowboys will be able to chip away more and more in this upcoming season. We already talked about the youth movement we went over the projected lineups that I think might happen and what flow wrestling is already putting out now the extra layer. The cowboys should be able to get really close to catching pin state this upcoming season because of that youth movement because of another year in the system her jacks forest and Sergio Vega land and rob a do born the biggest years ever for Troy Spratley and then you have the depth. I don't think we had a ton of depth last year we definitely didn't have depth at almost every single weight class but now not only do we have depth but we have quality depth
and veteran leadership we already mentioned taken jameson the idea that taken jameson might not be a starter if he's fully healthy is kind of crazy but that's why you go out and get the top recruiting class in the country that's why you go get Jordan rainy jayden rating Mikey white very strong Ross that's why you go get a rockland zinkin because you want to make sure that your back in guys are good enough to push your front and guys and the only way that can happen is if they know enough tricks to the trade to catch some of the you know freshman and precarious positions on the map whenever you factor in the abilities of the youth movement to go with the leadership and the seniority and the technical understanding of the older guys that could be exactly what we need to finally overtake pin state it's going to be a monumental task to do so and even if we can't overtake them per se I do think that this is a season where we can chip away like the gap went from 102 to 177
to 181 to 131 they probably get close to 180 again right that 175 to 185 ish range seems to be where pin state feels rather comfortable in we got a lot of guys to the podium but they didn't score a lot of bonus points along the way and I think that part of that is because these guys were just doing it off of ability of course they were getting the technical training from David Taylor and the cowboy RTC but I think it's gotten significantly better when you're talking about Alex Fakundo Zach Ryder, Connor Duset, taken Jameson and even well cases the risky or do you lock it when you're talking about these all American names being backups now you are creeping into that pin state territory right they've had fluctuations where they would hold a guy like Ksic and they'd upgrade a guy like PJ Duke and then they would just kind of
you know maneuver with numbers and names and weights because they had a stack deck of starters and they also had a stack deck of backups were finally starting to get there so much so that this veteran leadership might be the difference between last year and this year is it a big enough difference to overtake pin state and get to that 175 85 score range probably not but if we went from 102 to 131 it's reasonably conceivable with all of these leaders now being backups to hit what 160ish 155ish and you never know somewhere along the way you can have some of the pin state heavy hitters getting knocked off I mean that could happen to us too but last year I think we were operating on a lot of just pure talent this year we have talent and death not only death but quality and veteran
depth that could be an X factor it should be an X factor and that should be the very reason why Oklahoma State gets closer than ever to pin state this year and then you're just asking for a little bit of additional chaos around us let me know down in the comment section do you think this is another year where we take a big leap can the big leap be bigger than 29 30 extra points because if it can then you are starting to creep in that 160 range and if you're getting to 160ish you're at least making pin state sweat and again if we have some upsets happen around us in regards to pin state wrestlers then maybe them reaching 178 or 181 becomes more difficult for them and then the pressure gets to be applied from our side the beauty of it is it doesn't feel like this is just smoking mirrors it doesn't feel like we're just raising the hope to the max this feels like a legitimate
expectation to not only get second once again but to get close so close to first that pin state knows 2028 is a completely different ball game let me know down in the comment section what your thoughts are this all we're going to have for this one right here now we get to get ready to talk about foosball in Behooves it's all we're going to have for this one as always you know all of you God bless go pokes thank you for tuning in to make this your first listen here and locked on Oklahoma State because you could be anywhere I'm so happy that you do choose to be here so do me a favor hit the like button if you liked it dislike it if you didn't that's okay too but more importantly share comment and subscribe my podcast and people out there you're everything that makes this work I greatly appreciate what you do so go do me a favor go do what you do hit away on those stars hammer away on them reviews and uh yeah we'll talk some foosball next all right y'all later tatters
