That's their one and no on the season. And you know, Bryce, I know, would do not look very good in the football. He isn't look, didn't look good most of last year as the quarterback, Michigan. Is that fair? That's fair. Now Kyle, winning him that course, the coach at Michigan was at the press conference this weekend was asked about Bryce Underwood as the starting quarterback of the Wolverines here is his response to media asking about his future as the quarterback for Michigan. How firmly to see you.

6:14He's our QB right now. And you know, it's not it's not something that's infinite. I mean, at some point, you know, we've got to turn a corner and we've got to see improvement as we do with a bunch of stuff. We've got to see improvement out of the coaches. And so it's not just on Bryce. But and it's not just Bryce's job that is not absolutely set in concrete. Nobody says I mean, you got to perform weekend and week out and and become, you know, somebody that we feel like is playing at a level that we can win with. And that goes far beyond Bryce. It goes throughout the whole team. And so it's what you've done lately is very important in football. It's a great. Now, I will say the reporter asked a great question. He's perfectly how firmly is he number one? So that's a good way to get at it. Yeah, did a great. I thought that again, this is you guys need to respond because obviously he's a very close friend. I thought he nailed the response. I do. No problem. He absolutely nailed. He talked about the coaches.

7:15He talked about how to be better than nothing is infinite. Which wouldn't every coach say that? Yeah, but I showed everybody. Imagine talking to you today. Yeah, it talks to every single person. I'm talking right now to coach rule. Hey, if Clander plays terrible for three straight games, is he still the, oh, yes, absolutely he is. Everybody's going to say, no, no one's job is ever locked up for life. I agree. He handled that perfectly. Yeah, so he nails it perfectly. And then it just took a turn. And the part of the turn, which is interesting was it, I do, I would, the conspiracy theory, I would never believe the way today's media is because I watched that interview. I watched it. I think it was live. I watched it on Sunday or what it would have been Sunday with Kyle. And I, and I, I, man, he handled that really well. And we've had a discussion myself and coach William sense that time. I thought, man, because he stood there and took all the questions. He didn't try to get off the podium. He stood there. He was there watching. No, it wasn't dodging. He took everything for the, for the whole time, which was very unique. And when, then all of a sudden, when that stuff comes out, it's common.

8:17It's everyone has it. He meets within seconds. So if you're like a, like Bryce Underwood's team, you're, you're aware that something has been said about the quarterback, you know, is like, Hey, and then if you think there wasn't a one-on-one, now, and I have no, no, no, what are we getting at? That they, there had to be a discussion prior to Underwood going, I doubt that all of us going to hear Underwood. Yep. That all of a sudden you're going to say, well, I don't know if we didn't even talk to Underwood. I guarantee. I have to. You have to. You told me this, but don't tell me that the head coach hasn't had a conversation. The reason we're saying this is because Underwood seemed, he indicated a level of surprise. And here's his response to those comments about winning it. This is two days later, right? Yes, it is. Bryce Underwood. I want to show you a reaction to the code of the AMS comments about how your job is in permanent. Those comments about the Gary said that your job is in infinite. Yeah, that's the start. That's cool. I'm going to see that.

9:18That's cool. That's your reaction. That's cool. It's kind of hard to hear that. Basically, it's cool basically. I think I didn't see that. I didn't know what they did. Yeah, it's cool, basically. Not much commentary from Bryce didn't seem. Well, he was, he, so you think he fained surprise? It would shock me. I mean, this right. Why would you do that? Let me think that there was an interview done right now by, by whoever, two days ago in D, D P or something said something about us in a great way or a bad way. Sure. You think we would not have any knowledge of it coming. You go probably know. You would probably know that some of you probably know anything. Right. Journal star. Right. If there was a detailed conversation about you failing in some area, Steve, oh, I've never heard about him. Yeah. I don't know anything about that. He knew he had, he, you're right. He knew, but why, so why would he react like that? Just, I don't know, who knows? People are odd sometimes.

10:19I mean, the bottom line is he didn't play well. He said he threw a pick six before half time and he caught a break that the guy stepped an inch out of bounds. Very lucky. What are his limitations? He doesn't have any physical limitations. So what are his limitations? Is this not accurate? I, I think it just comes down to, it's a little bit of an, it factored a little bit of a, I'm sure that they would say processing. I would say they'd use the word processing because he, because he's, he's tough. He can run. He is physical. He has incredible arm strength. I mean, the ball that he threw out, that they threw out of the end zone, he threw it like 60 yards in the air. Yes. It was a long throw. It was a flip of a wrist. It was, you know, I mean, it was, it was, it was so, you know, I don't think he has physical limitations. So, but quarterback is a, it's complex position. You can't just be a great athlete and be a great quarterback. It's not too much to do it. There's, there's so much to be in the odd part, but also is that he is voted by his teammates as team captain. So he is viewed as a worker. The part that, the part that stinks about this, in my opinion, or I'd be upset as a staff, I'd be like, in the same time Kyle praised him with how hard he works in the, he's always in the quarterback.

11:26He said that he's always in the quarterback room. He's here, he's here more than the coaches. He went through a lot of positives. Okay. 13:31Back, nothing's infinite. Would there be anybody that pushed back on that? From anything? I know. It's a ward manual coming down and going and saying, how can you say that about our quarterback? No, he was very reasonable. Winning, yeah. Winning Ham was very reasonable. It's just an interesting commentary on the quarterback position. It was the proper response. I mean, they had scored seven points against Western Michigan at home prior to one second to call in the game. That's the right response, Kyle. He didn't play well. You were a 20. He doesn't have this. You were massive favorites as you should be against the Mac team. You're supposed to be a ranked team and your quarterback who wasn't very good last year. Right. That's the key. Didn't take a leap apparently at all. Did it appear in that game at least? Oh, we now that so is a fair question. Now that scrutiny is it is a fair question because the scrutiny is is tight now. I mean, you're I want the question now is how long is his hook? I mean, what kind of what kind of well you're looking at you're looking at a true freshman. Become in the in the game. That's a lot also. You got to get car.

14:31Yeah, okay, we're going to go with the true freshman here. And then you go, okay, then can we go backwards back to this part of it? So that I said that's how complicated it's complicated football gets. But here's the other thing that's very interesting is two years ago. Notre Dame had one of the most horrific losses ever and they went to the playoffs that year. They lost in northern Illinois and that's the only loss that they have. Right. And they went on to they were they went to the national champion. Can happen. That's the same year. I'm not going to need them into the playoffs. It was the same year. Yeah. Be real though. Do you think under woods leading them into the playoffs? Right now from from the data points that we have. No, I'd say now what you're alternative now. Oh boy. Now think about this. You're throwing a true freshman. This is not Purdue. Yeah, this is Michigan. Now you're throwing a true like you're throwing Connor. Yeah, okay, Connor. You got this ship. You got this ship. Car you lose get loose under what didn't handle it. Well, I don't throw a freshman into into that situation, unless you absolutely have to. And they're and we saw it firsthand.

15:34I heard it in the natural the natural part of every locker room is is that there is some some people are going like, Oh, he's got it. He's just got to have a Bryce is back. And then there's their part going. What are you talking about? He handled it really. So no matter what there's there's not like it's like, oh, there's a hundred. He had his back. He did. He had his he had his back. He did not throw him. No, he didn't say something like, you know what we did this. This happened. I mean, think of the game would have ended the way it when it should have. He threw the ball out of the end zone. I get a cardinal sin in that situation. I told my dad after we were also with the housemen. My dad and I said, hey, you know, housemen, the housemeners. I go, you know, how many of the all passes that land out of bounds are 100% incomplete. So you know that the ball. The one thing you're told is the ball cannot go out of the end. You keep it in play. Keep it in play. You do not bounce through it. Not kind of out of bounds. The guy had to make a miraculous jump to touch it. Yeah. Yeah, that's true. Which is crazy because if he doesn't jump, the game's over.

16:34Yeah. If he doesn't try to beat athlete, he's trying to play. Yeah, trying to do. Underwood reaction. Very interesting. I'll play one more time. If you missed the Kyle. What can you play? He's just asking his quarterback to we have winning ham to turn the corner and perform. It's called out. He called out other players. The coaching staff. He called out. It has to be better. Yeah. See what I don't think he's I don't think you need to defend him. It was perfect. I would love to be coach in there. This is fun. This one. This one. Hey, you want to be a coach. There you go. Yeah, things going on your locker room. You got things going on perception wise. You've got fan base all of a sudden. What the heck? Yeah, I mean, they just they just before they that get all freaked out. They just had a situation where the head coach was arrested. He was put in jail. Right. He was he was he was in jail. It's just okay. He had a butter knife. Yeah, he had a butter knife. And he was in jail threatening his own life and threatening other people. And it's nothing. Yeah, this football stuff. This is it can be handled. This is a bad game against Western Michigan. And it's like it's I'm like hang on now.

18:37I mean, it's big, but you're just looking for the quarterback to turn the corner now. If he doesn't turn the corner and doesn't perform to the standard that most people would set. Then he's then they'll have to look at something else. It's that simple. Underwood hasn't turned the corner. He can turn the corner this week against Oklahoma. I think it was you're taking the same as mine. I thought was I said I should go don't count out Michigan. Here we go. Not without defense. Now. Now I'm a little concerned because of the conversation of that. Oh, I think it had more like going on. What's the response that it should have been in my opinion. Whatever coach says I agree with I got to be better. Yeah. And we got to be better as a team. And we're going to be better. We were great. We've had great meetings. Great practice. We're going to be ready to go. But that if I'm that fan base and I hear my quarterback just the at the podium at the podium in the tone. Just the tone in the body language of it. I guess. If I'm if I'm that if that was here at Nebraska and you had that tone. Would you come back going I think they're in the right path. It doesn't inspire confidence. I know what I always wonder about those.
