It is Wednesday the 1st of April and as usual with all the information contained in this
0:14
podcast is general advice only so please do your own research, contact your own financial advisor
0:19
regarding any of the thoughts, ideas or insights in this podcast. Well this could be an April
0:25
Fools day joke we'll wait and see there's certainly was one of the news that it's a day I hope
0:29
you spotted it but the ASX 200 was up 190 points or 2.24%. Closing on its high for the day of 8671.8
0:40
we opened at 8618.7 we had a low of 8606 and a high of 8671.8 we did mill around most of the day
0:49
wondering what to do with ourselves but in the end we decided that all was good and we would push
0:54
things up. I have to say I'm a little puzzled about that maybe new money coming in but
1:00
Dow futures not doing an awful lot and now we have the prospect of a Donald Trump national speech
1:07
to the American people which could say anything to be honest so the risk is still well and truly
1:14
out there but today we chose to ignore that particular risk and certainly piled on the points
1:20
and the points really came from as always the big banks and the big resources plus the gold miners
1:26
which had a massive rebounds today on a bit of a rethink so that was all good. The resources
1:33
roaring back into life with BP up 4.3% Rio up 3.5% Fortescue up 3.8% those goldies well what can I
1:43
say a big bounce evolution up 8.2% northern star up 8.6% I was quite bullish coming back from the
1:50
gold conference last week and did convey that I think ad nauseam in the newsletter Genesis up 6.1%
1:58
new one up 4.3 West gold 6.8% so it was game on we even had blue scope still up 2.6% today
2:08
and AAI which is our color doing well out of aluminium 4.2% higher as was South 32 doing well
2:15
4.9% higher we saw rare earths doing better line us up 3.6% Arifura had a great day Pilbra had a good day
2:24
3.5% Liantown roaring back 6.2% in fact everything in the resource garden was pretty beautiful
2:32
except for the coal stocks which did nothing and the oil and gas stocks which did nothing
2:38
either didn't come off much either Paladin I was up 6.9% though in the Uranium Space deep yellow
2:44
was deep green 9.2% higher and Lotus up nearly 12% today so all was green in the garden
2:54
of resource land in the banks the big bank basket up 2% roaring back to $290.26 CBA up 2.5%
3:03
McQuarry up 3.3% and other financials also taking their queue and pushing up even GQG up 3.2%
3:12
and Zip up 10.7% Soul Pats up 1.2% so things looking pretty bright there at least for the day
3:22
as well as health care better CSL's up 1% the industrial space also good Bramble's up 1.4% retail
3:30
improved ever so slightly with J.B. Hifi up 1.4% AP Eagers took over 2 Audi dealerships in Melbourne
3:40
they were up 9.5% risk ran up 3% travel stocks bouncing back as well and we did see the likes of
3:48
flight centre up 4.8 Webjet up 6.5% so everything in the garden was pretty rosy but a lot of it is
3:56
going to be I guess on what happens tonight we've got Prime Minister Albanese talking the
4:01
evening addressing our nation at 7 o'clock I think it is and it's widely anticipated that we are
4:07
going to get some sort of petrol rationing in place I guess or petrol restrictions could be in
4:14
place after Easter and then tomorrow we get Donald Trump addressing the US in a rare address to
4:22
the nation and it's going to be interesting to see what he says there I'm not sure it's going
4:28
to be quite what the market wants but we'll wait and see all right as far as corporate news goes
4:33
today well AP Eagers did well they entered an agreement to acquire those two Audi dealerships
4:38
in Melbourne Perenti had a good day today on the back of a new CEO being announced and
4:45
started payment up 8.7% today on the back of Chow Thai foot enterprises in the far east consortium
4:57
taking full control of Brisbane's Queen Wharf precinct and economic news we had
5:02
willing approvals rising 29.7% in February to 19.22 driven by a surge in private apartments
5:10
and in Asian markets at the moment well Korea absolutely went through the roof they were 7% up at
5:17
one stage one looked at it Nikkei up 4.6 Hong Kong up 2% China up 1.4% 10 year bond yields falling
5:26
to 4.91% in Australia so that's peace hopes there and US futures they are positive but not huge
5:37
about gold rallying another 29 points at the moment 0.6% of a European futures set to open higher
5:45
as well in terms of the winners and winners today let's run through the winners let's run through
5:50
the losers because there were a few losers today Pexa fell 14.7% there certainly were some stories
5:58
around today and they did have an ASX price query three million shares traded down to $12.97
6:04
Lindy and resources also they did a placement today at 75 cents closing at 76 and a half down
6:11
13.6% 18 million shares date line with that placement at 40 cents down 5.5% to 43 cents
6:20
EQ resources falling 4.7% 22 million shares traded there down to 30.5 it's someone say KFC
6:28
well they were down 3.4% that's CKF I wish they get that sorted out with their code that would
6:35
make life so much easier down to $8.45 Karoon fell 7 cents or 3.4% on 13 million shares to $1.99
6:45
in terms of the winners and winners HM Capital was a big winner today 16.2% higher 6 million shares
6:54
traded Greatland gold well not only the gold but also that good trading update that good production
6:59
update from the other day 14.9% higher 5 million shares traded BNZ haven't come across that one
7:08
before that was up 13.6% BNZ mining 13.6% higher 970,000 shares traded to $2.50
7:20
electro-optic systems at rallied 12.7% on three million shares the $9.03 isn't peace bad for
7:27
defense stocks well never mind shallus up 11.7% two million shares to $1.58 and WAI also doing
7:36
well today up nearly 11% that's WAI gold a million shares 45 and a half positive sectors today
7:44
the bank sign all gold miners uranium lithium in fact pretty much everything negative sectors
7:49
nothing as far as the highs and lows go we closed on our high of 8672 optimism building
7:56
closing on its highs the big bank basket rising to $290.26 that's up 2% the all-tech index having
8:05
a good day for a change is well have we seen the bottom I guess 3.3% higher for the all-tech
8:15
index so good result there gold in Aussie dollar terms let's just go to the the gold price just for
8:21
a bit of a giggle gold in Aussie dollar terms is currently where are we 68.01 so that's rallied
8:32
again so that's certainly benefiting from peace at the moment Bitcoin has slipped slightly let's
8:41
have a little look Bitcoin in US dollar terms 68.504 so that's a little better than it was 20 minutes
8:48
ago when I first started writing this report so that's a little better there and the 10 year
8:55
years 4.91 the Aussie dollar is currently trading at 69.12 with those US futures just mildly positive
9:05
European futures positive as well market movers well predictive discovery PDI we did have this
9:12
as a buy on the call today on Aussies up 10.1 percent it is involved in a merger with
9:21
RobEx both West African gold producers 10.1 percent higher we had zip up 10.7 percent
9:28
are a fewer they executed a binding cornerstone equity agreement they did well today Gina will
9:34
be happy they are up 8.9 percent and St George will it slay the dragon for those that have not
9:42
worked out that reference and it partnered with Boston Metals EUR which is European Lithium had
9:48
a good data up 11.9 percent buyback update and Coria which is merging with the valuation apparently
9:55
of 72 cents odd on the back of what the money's been put in at it was up 7.1 percent to 30 cents so
10:01
there's a big big distance between that and that valuation satin metals which we wrote up this
10:08
morning up 7.8 percent nothing to do with me I'm sure two million shares traded and ATX which is
10:14
amphithea therapeutics which we have in the biotech basket numero uno was up 12.8 percent
10:23
in that biotech basket that's looking pretty good in the the bad side of the equation not
10:30
for us but for ETM shareholders that's energy transition now they have a rare earth project in
10:36
Greenland down 41.9 percent they opened at seven and a half at a higher 7.7 a lower five they're
10:44
5.4 71 million shares traded today the Greenland government basically knocked back their license
10:53
I'm not sure you want to do that you might antagonize you know who yesterday's hero which was
11:00
the takeover target matrix construction engineering unchanged today at 36 cents and no speculative stock
11:06
today as far as economic and other news goes building approvals total 12ings approved rose 29.7 percent
11:14
we also have Anthony Albanese speaking to the nation this evening at 7 pm we saw city economists
11:22
expects the reserve bank of Australia to lift interest rates by further quarter percent in June
11:27
Trump has said the US could withdraw from Iran whether we have a deal or not
11:32
yeah the president to address the nation tomorrow open AI has erased three billion from retail
11:38
investors as part of a record funding overhaul or funding haul rather judge has halted the
11:44
construction of Trump's 400 million white house bullroom interesting and Italy has failed yet again
11:52
to make the world cup I'm sorry but the Italians really that's the third world cup in Iran I think
12:01
it is that Italy have missed out on they lost out on penalties something that my old blighty
12:07
team tend to always do as they say in football football is applied by England football is again
12:14
played by England and Germany that always ends in penalties in Germany always wins and Trump
12:19
signed an executive order restricting mail in voting at the white house today well that's it
12:25
from me thanks very much listing have a great evening it's 190 up today so we'll see what tonight
12:31
brings but all eyes will be on the president Trump's address and that is going to be crucial but
12:38
certainly they're still conflicting news reports about what is happening and what is going to
12:45
happen so as always thanks for your support I'll be back tomorrow morning with the pre-market
