A week from today, we'll be talking about whether the Jaguars are O and one or one and

2:05O. Hopefully, they'll be one and O because they play the Cleveland Browns that everyone says is the poster child. Like if you look at dysfunction in the dictionary, it would be a big old picture of the Cleveland Browns franchise right there in front of you. Hopefully, what we'll have a chance to do is celebrate a victory a week from today. But we don't have to imagine it. We don't have to have conjecture. We don't have to have all of those things because guess what? They will start hitting on each other this week. And I have never seen a team that looks like they're ready to start punching somebody. At least here in Jacksonville, I haven't been around other teams from a media standpoint. But I have been around the Jaguars here for a couple of decades. They really look like a team that's ready to just go out and lay it all on the line and compete at an extremely high level. I think they created a culture of fighting them and a culture of us against the world and all of this stuff. It doesn't mean that they're going to just go out there and be able to show up and make

3:06those things happen. They actually have to do it. And you actually have to think that other people are thinking the same way about their team, about their franchise. So it's just going to be fun to watch it manifest itself on the field. There's been a lot of talk, man. There are people that don't believe the Jaguars will be very good for some reason. I saw somebody the other day pick them the fence. They picked the Jaguars to finish third in the AFC South. And I find that laughable. But realistically, historically, it's not that far off because the Jaguars have never made the playoffs two years in a row. I keep coming back to that. But they've also never been led by Tony Bacelli, James Glassstone. And of course, the man at the hour is Liam Cohen. I don't think they've had this much intentional direction since Tom Coughlin. Tom Coughlin was a master at whatever he thought of in his mind and however he wanted to be, he was able to actually put that on the field, on the grass, on tape.

4:10You saw the work. And that's the part of this that can determine whether or not you assess if the Jaguars are going to be better. Can you, will you see the work on the field? I think you will because of how they go about their business. They're very thoughtful. And they want their team and their players to be extremely thoughtful of everything that's going on. They want them to be where their feet are. They want them to have this attitude that, look, it's right now, it's the next play. It's not, y'all hear that thunder out there too, and lightning. If my grandma was here right now, she would tell me, boy, if you don't get off that podcast while that stuff is going on out there, I know something. But we're going to keep on pushing here. If y'all hear loud, that ain't no awful little trying to come through my door or nothing. That's the lightning and the thunder outside. The point that I'm making about the Jaguars is they're ready to go, man. If ready to play had a face, it would look exactly like what the Jacksonville Jaguars

5:12looked like. I'm talking about when you interview them, when you talk to them, when you see them practice, it's less all of that fake, hey, what's up, bro? No, it's none of that stuff, man. They look very workman-like and very business-like. And in my opinion, what you saw in the preseason was extremely vanilla. And it was a bunch of players that you ain't going to see playing significant roles in the first and second quarter. You may get some of those guys in the game. And I know I've often talked about how the Jaguars always want their guys ready to go and all that stuff. And that's true. They provide an opportunity for everyone to come in here regardless of how you were obtained to have an impact on the game and to have an impact in practice. But I will say this, you ain't going to see a whole bunch of new stuff early in the year. There will be some impact rookies, I think. I think Brian Thomas Jr., the other Brian Thomas Jr., on defense, you'll have a chance to

6:16really, really see what he's about. I think that he's going to be an energy-pass rusher type. Just think back to Joe Schmingey, right? Just think back to Johnny King Galkway, even though Johnny King Galkway played a whole bunch of snaps and he started. You're going to see a dude with a bunch of juice. I think BJ Green will make a tremendous difference on third down. I think the dynamic duo of Josh Hines, Alan and Trevor on the Walker are going to be absolutely fabulous. But all of that comes secondary if you don't score a bunch of points. And that's where I think the Jaguars will be a whole bunch of different this year. I think they're going to get their share of big plays with BTB and back on wide receiver and seem like he got his confidence back with the power running game. The offensive line is getting healthier at the right time. I really do believe the Jacksonville Jaguars will be very, very efficient on offensive net. We'll put a lot of pressure on other teams to try to keep up with them and then their defense can pin their ears back. So all that talk is about over, man. It's about spotting that ball.

7:19It's about getting after it. And I really do believe the Jacksonville Jaguars will have a big year. And basically the first thing is you got to keep Trevor Lawrence upright and you got to keep him healthy and can't have him running for his life out there. And in my opinion, I don't think that's going to be a problem. I think Trevor is going to prove and be right back in the top five of the MVP voting. He's going to prove himself to be just as good as we all think he can be. I had to talk this weekend about someone who's telling the man I just don't believe in Trevor Lawrence. And the city didn't hate her by the way. He's a real real good. He's a high just don't believe in Trevor. I don't know about Trevor Lawrence. And otherwise Trevor's fine. Well, you sure, what in the one year flashing the pet? No, it wasn't. It wasn't because what they put on him and how they did it. And I gave him the whole installation story that you guys have heard a lot here on Lockdown Jaguars. I talked about how think back to Pacemaking and Tom Brady.

8:19The Pacemaking had Howard mud and is the offensive line coach and Tom Moore. The great veteran as the offensive coordinator. And he had so much insulation around him. And then Dante, Scarneccia and whether it was Bill O'Brien or Josh McDames for Peyton or for Tom Brady, they had so much. They were thinking the game. They were football junkies. And that's what Liam Cohn has done here for Trevor Lawrence. Drew Brees had Sean Peyton. You see what Sean Peyton is now and combined that with talent. You understand why a guy was a first ballot hall of fame. So people really need to understand that what you saw from Trevor Lawrence last year is not an anomaly. That is, I think that's the new norm. That is the bare minimum that you're going to get from him as long as he can stay healthy and stay up. Right. We need to put our imagination to rest. We don't have to think. We don't have to try to figure out what they'll be and who they'll be. You know why? Because the game is almost here.

9:21It's going to be a little different this year because of the stadium being fixed up, the way it's being fixed up. So the capacity won't quite be what you're used to at the game. But I think it'll be exciting nonetheless. I'm just looking forward to it, man. I'm looking forward to just getting after it and I'm looking forward to all of the things that we've talked about with them trying to be more physical, them trying to be bigger, them trying to be stronger, the addition of the tight ends, adding all of those guys so much to look forward to. And I'm going to tell you about all of that, starting with the imagination part. Why it's so important that we don't have to even worry about what we thought and worry about, because since this board, the time is now and I want to get you fired up and get you ready for the season. And I don't do that in just a second here on Locked On Jaguars.

All right, so they can't help themselves, right? I try to tell people when I'm off, leave me alone, but I love being in a position that people think I'm an authority on certain things. So they come up in the ass, man. I don't care if I'm eating breakfast and I'm writing a mental slice in a piece of sausage or something and putting them on. And then you, two a, what are the jags going to do before I down? And I answer the question. And the answer usually goes something like this.

13:28What you think they're going to do? They're going to go out here and do what they got to do. They always start with treble arms. And then, you know, it ends with, okay, I got you. I'm going to see now. I'm going to see you and people sit there and try to hold me to my words, man. I think folks really, they don't mean any harm, man. And it's all good. But a lot of enthusiasm about this team this year. And rightfully so you're coming off of a 13-win year. That's outside of the 14 and two year. And I hate to think about it because that's the year that they lost. They went 15 and three, man. They lost all three games at the Titans back in like 97. Y'all know that. But outside of that, man, it's just, it was like one of the greatest regular seasons. I can remember for the Jagsville Jaguar in a lot of good ways. It's almost like when you think back to those 13-win, I don't think people really believed it was happening until the end of the year. Until they wanted division, folks were still like, I can't believe the Jaguar is a good. You have no idea how many people told me that last year, like, man,

14:31I can't believe they really, really just good, which. And now they can't believe that they're really, really good this year too. Folks are sitting there thinking that, well, I don't know, we'll see, man. They haven't gotten any better. They haven't changed anything. And I spoke about this last week on the show. It's like, okay, they won 13 games. How much stuff did you really want them to change? How much stuff did you really want them to fix? They won 13 games. They did a very good job at being introspective though in the off season. Everything that Jaguars did showed you what they thought of themselves. They added physicality. They added Twitch. The Jaguars took an infrastructure approach to the off season where they absolutely added physicality. So if you want to try to figure out how they're going to play. And if you're doing your fantasy teams and all of this stuff and you're trying to figure, and that's what folks are doing, man.

15:32Folks are really, really just trying to say, what is this thing going to look like? And we were wondering that last year, and you got your answer, at least, late in the season. They wasn't what people thought. Nobody thought Brian Thomas, Jr. would have the county year he had last year, or Parker Washington. People felt Parker was capable of doing that. But nobody thought that was going to happen. Mostly people were wondering about the offensive line with it, finally show some improvement. They were wondering about the past rush. And then everybody was wondering how they were going to use travel arts. And then of course, how Trevor would respond to the coaching that he got. And for the most part, all of those things got answered. They still needed to improve the past rush. The offensive line, while it was good at getting stalemates, they needed to get a little bit better, right? The past rush, they think they've improved that. We talked about Brian Thomas Jr. and the developments of BJ Green, and some of the things that they've also added on the interior and their rush packages. Travis Hunter, his role is a little bit more defined where you kind of know where he's going to be this year.

16:32So you don't really have to imagine anything. The Jaguars have kind of showed you their hand when they went out and got big and physical. They went and got two tight ends in the draft. They addressed the offensive line in the draft. They also went out in free agency. They added a couple of depth pieces along their offensive line. And they didn't do a whole bunch of free agency other than bring in Chris Rodriguez. So when you think of all the sum of everything that they actually did last year, and you tell yourself, all you got to do is just say, okay, what did they do based on where they were last year? A lot of people think they didn't do a whole bunch, because there's not a lot of decorative window dressing. They added straight up physicality to their team. Now, are they going to and want all season turning in the most physical team in the NFL? No, they're not going to do that. But they will have that. I think what they did showed you what they thought of themselves. And that's why I call it introspective. They were coaching around stuff last year because I don't think that they believed

17:33that they were physical enough to get it done. So Kudos to them for being able to do that, but that's not how you want to get it, because you really want to win. And Liam said at the end of the year, we just weren't good enough. Great season where we weren't good enough, right? Good enough where? I don't think they were good enough in the trenches. I don't think they were good enough in coverage on the back end. And I don't think they were good enough at Pass R Us. And we know that they lacked the ability to make a whole bunch of big plays. How's that changed? Well, take a look at it. Emmanuel, Emmanuel Pregnant is going to play. He's probably offensive lineman number six. If he doesn't roll out there and start, I don't think they're going to do that. But there's a lot of talk they're saying with it. They may play, including in their right guard and play. Cova and landing at right tackle. If they do that, Emmanuel Pregnant is going to play left guard. And that's how they can get better. That would mean that he's passed over Walker Little. He's passed over Wyatt, mylin, because if you're moving people around like that, right? You don't have to, you can leave as recleven the right where he is.

18:35And then you could play Wyatt, mylin or. Walk a little at right guard. You already moving, Cova and landing the right tackle, but no, if the Jaguar's decide that they're going to move as recleven, that means that someone, like Emmanuel Pregnant has added some physicality to them. Chris Rodriguez. Chris Rodriguez is going to be a good addition to this team. I do think Basel Tutton gets the most carries. I think he's going to lead the team in in rushing. And he is more physical of a player. Without sacrificing speed, he's more physical than Travis H. He definitely is. He is running style low center gravity big legs, hard to tackle, jump cut runner. And he hits the hole really, really, really quick. I think they get more big plays out of that. And then just the second you start gearing up for that, they hit you with the change of pace with the quint Allen whenever he's ready to go and Chris Rodriguez. So they've actually gotten more physical. They built the roads. They built the bridges.

19:35They put, they passed up the potholes and cut the grass. They did a lot of infrastructure stuff that makes this team better. But on the surface, you may think, okay, you got to prove it. And that's exactly what they got to do. The thing about physicality is you can talk about it, but you got to be about it. And I think the Jaguar is going to show you in week number one against the Cleveland team that's very, very good. We'll talk more about them later on in the week during our crossover. But they're very good defensively. Offensively it leaves a little bit desire. I am a little bit concerned about Cleveland because there's a whole bunch of unknowns with Todd Munkin just like there was a lot of unknowns with Liam Cork. And if Jaguars can go from 4 and 13 to 13 and 4, other teams might be able to make that same job. But I think they should win this game. Ooh, boy, if they don't, it's going to be mutiny in the Jaguars fan base. All right, I'm going to tell you about the count of the 2026, some of the things that we have coming up here on Lockdown and Jaguars and already have going on. We'll do that in just a second.

24:39to woo saw and time to either get fired up or just calm down a little bit either way, whatever the result was. Tuesday will take a look at it from a broad perspective and say, okay, not it. We've seen it. It's all of this. What do they have to do? Wednesday will react and respond to the things that we've heard all week. Look at the medical reports. Thursday will do the crossover Friday. We'll be getting you ready again for the action. Now, that'll change when they have Monday games or when they have Thursday night games or whatever, but for the most part, that is going to be the scheduled this year. And I can't wait, man, because this year is different. It's different. It feels different to me. It feels really, really different to me for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I'm interested to see how the fan base responds like when they start. I said, when they start looking like just this very, very consistently competent football team, the way it is supposed to be, like putting years and years in back then.

25:41This will tell you not whether that window is truly open for the Jaguars as opposed to just being like a flash in a pan one year. That window gets open man when they start doing things right, you have a decade long run of solid quarterback play, roster development, knowing who your guys are, who you resign, who you build with. This is why subscribing to how they have gone about getting these football junkies in here. This is why I subscribe to that formula so much. It's because at the very least, you're gonna have a whole bunch of, you ain't gonna have people like they're playing for themselves. You also won't have, you remember in 2018 they were fighting on the sideline, yelling and bickering at each other because like they were really, really talented, but when things went bad, they kind of turned on themselves a little bit. That won't happen with this team. I just do not believe that that will happen with it. Will they have it? Versatility? Yes, will they look, sometimes look like they don't know what they're doing? Absolutely, that's, it's football. It happens for everybody.

26:41But I really, really do believe that this team has turned the corner as far as organization, alignment, being on the same page from top to bottom and they've increased the talent level. They can be efficient even without one or two people at certain positions. So I'm gonna be really, really interested to see how the Jaguar's fan base responds to the fact that these guys are, that is different. And if you're not a Jaguar fan, you probably don't really understand or get what I'm talking about, but we know what I'm talking about. The only thing that they were good at being consistent is being inconsistent in the past. They were consistently inconsistent. They were fine ways, different ways. They were the most, it's almost incredible how the Jaguars used to find different ways to lose games every single week. And now the fans will get used to them not doing that. Or they'll have to understand that. I know a lot of people that often, when they think about the Jaguars,

27:41they think, okay, when is the bad stuff coming? Because we know it's coming. We know it's coming. We know it's going to come eventually because this is what it's always been. No, when you get that window open and that window of opportunity to start really, really being one of the best teams in the league, there's usually about eight or 10 teams. Like the example I'm giving you is the Eagles and the Ravens and like they're never really up and down. They're more always up and if they have one bad year they're down, but then they come right back. I'm talking about, because the Rams, of course, the Chiefs being consistently good. Buffalo has been that, y'all know they've been that. You can say what you want to say. For a long time under Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh was that, they haven't really quite been that as of late, but that's what I'm talking about. Just being in that neighborhood when people in the consciousness of fans just being one of those really, really good teams that has a chance each and every week, where you almost know when the season starts you're going to win at least 11 games. But you're just trying to figure out whether or not you're going to get over the hump and win a title. Well, we'll find that out about the Jaguars.
