Welcome back. It's beyond the box score. I'm Dan Schnauer. That's Jacob Gibbs and we're back. We've arrived. We made it football on our screens. You know what? I saw all the people complaining, oh, this is not a good game. I won a free offense. I liked it, man. It was back and forth. It was possession for possession. There were key turnovers. There were key moments that led to scoring and key moments that led to the decision in this game. It reminded me a lot of playing a game of that I want to get you into at some point, Jacob Gibbs, stratomatic football. I really want to play that with you sometime in my life. The nerdiest board game in this year, all the best, where punts are premium. And that's what it was in this game. Possessions were at a premium. I want to first get into the topic of the day that I see sprinkled throughout Twitter. Are you nervous, Jacob Gibbs, about Drake May for the rest of this fantasy football season? I don't want to overact too much,
but that was awful to completely melt it down at the end of the game. Made some awful decisions. It was a bizarre finish for him. He really like what worked so well for Drake May last year. I thought was his ability to stay patient and make kind of the boring plays over and over and over. He was very like methodical and how he attacked last year. And that worked really well with what Josh McDaniel has had laid out. I don't know what it was here. If it was just that he's been itching for football, that he, that this game meant more to him because he got barris last year. It's the pressure of having it. I got no idea what happened, but it literally felt like he got impatient as the game went on and just made really stupid mistakes that you don't really see from him at this stage in his career. You saw it some at like North Carolina, right? But I don't know. I kind of thought we were past that. So that's troubling. I think that, yeah, there's maybe a bit of a skeleton like he on like how to make may make mistakes. I could just be like maybe only Mike McDonald can do this. But like we've kind of seen now in back to that game is
where like getting him, baiting him into doing some of this stuff has worked. And he's kind of taken, taken that bait and made some really bad decisions. So I'm really curious to see how this does play out. But at the same time, even though it was ugly, he was having an okay game through three quarters. Like he was giving lots of rushing. I think basically the stuff that you want for fantasy was basically there. And then AJ Brown gets her any really had to kind of force things and Romeo tops that I'm down and everything. So I don't want to overreact to it too much. My guess is that may will be fine for fantasy. They're not going to play the frequency hocks every week. I'm curious what you thought about it. Yeah, there's the good things and the bad things. The good things is that I felt like the past protection held up for the Patriots way better than I anticipated this year. You be the addition of Lajvarra Tucker's making a big, you know, I guess impact on that offense fine. But I also just think we'll Campbell played better football last night, which is really important for them long term. Now the bad things are what you said. It felt like Drake may just got impatient. And that's what he tries to do. Mike McDonald, that's the whole
point of that defense. Make you get to a point where you're like, I don't want to keep taking these check downs. I don't want to keep taking these underneath routes. I need to go attack and try something on the first interception. That's what's happened on the second interception. He was in a bad spot from a down and distance and tried to kind of use his eyes to hold the safety to the left and then snap back to the right and throw. But that safety was not at the right depth to be trying that throw. Julian Love and he jumped it and intercepted it. The last interception was just a nightmare disaster. Like a, you know, like one of those like worst quarter, you know, bottom barrel quarterback, the NFL type decisions. I don't know why that came about in his head. But he there were so many reasons not to make that throw was late. And also he was moving and falling away backwards because the pocket depth was kind of pushback by the edge on the left side. Just really bad decisions. My concern for fantasy is minimal in the sense of like, I still think he'll be starting for you in one quarter bag leagues. And I still think if you drafted him in super flex and paid up for him, he's going to still be around the 12 to 14 range because of the rushing, which will continue to be there like you said. And that raises the floor.
And as far as the ceiling goes, it's QB1, what he was last year or QB2 for fantasy, whatever he was in that range. It's hit because of two things for me. I thought, A, what they did so well last year, you're so right about it. It was take those underneath, take those underneath and then take a one on one shot on the outside, the bootier or Kyle Williams when it presented itself. In this game, that underneath stuff wasn't working as well because I really think the loss of digs, subbing him in for Romeo dobs and it wasn't even just dobs. They had tomorrow Douglas playing this role. Dobs barely played it felt like until AJ Brown came in. I have a full panic mode on dobs who was a sleeper for me. I thought he might play that digs role. I'm not as sold. And it's felt like they wanted to run the same offense, but have a better X receiver and AJ Brown and AJ Brown got hurt. And we don't know the extent of it right now, Jacob, but he was apparently in a walking boot and he has an ankle sprain higher low. We do not know right now. But he's going to miss at least a game. It feels like until he gets back into this offense, there's just not a lot of power. Like bootie was a big playmaker. I know he was kind of a a slept on play in
fantasy circles and even NFL circles people and give them a lot of credit, but he was a route winner on the outside. They don't have anyone who can win right now on the outside. Besides Kyle Williams. I was going to say they do. They do. They don't. They just don't play. So like it just feels like from an upside standpoint, May is almost like as crazy as this sounds closer to the Malik Willis style of Russian quarterbacked here than like the Jaden Daniels of what he can offer or something in that range. Let's say as the Tyler Josh Allen. Let's use it. That's better than the Josh Allen. Last year he was in that Josh Allen range for fantasy. So I'm I'm pretty worried about his ceiling. I'll say that. I don't understand what you're saying here when you're comparing him to Willis. Really? Can you like Willis to me is going to get you to a certain point each week based on his rushing, but he's going to be super limited from a passing scoring standpoint. That's how I'm feeling like Drake May is falling more into that bucket of we're not going to be getting a ton of passing production fantasy points than the Allen, which is all rush for past fantasy points and I'll pass for fantasy points. I don't know. That feels like an overreaction. I think it might be, but without AJ Brown
named him in circulation. I think it's basically the same situation as last year. I know Diggs was no Diggs. I shouldn't on a yeah, but he was a part time player. I know he's a fish in, but like there were plenty of games where Diggs had like 30, 40, 50 yards, you know. I think May will play better. I think I'm not reacting like that. I would still take him over Jane Daniel season long, take him over basically everybody except for I left few guys. And yeah, we'll see on AJ Brown, but I think that the Seattle thing is just like can't be overstated that even just so you can insane. And like it looks like the exact same thing where they've got just like role players who are just coming in and like immediately playing way better than expected. And Mike McDinnell's my like McDonald's just so good at his job. And then this that players all played really well too. And just like yeah, the Stephens is really nasty. Some key takeaways. What did you say? Go ahead. Go ahead. So key takeaways I had from the game while we're here with doing the talk about the passing game. I'll just talk about the splits that I found when AJ Brown was on the
field before the injury occurred. So the first 35 plays of the game yet an 86% route rate. So we was out there for basically every play. Lockton is the number one receiver 31% target share. A dot was only 4.8 yards average depth of target was 4.8 yards. Let me find a slot rate real quick. To your point about Ramo dobs, he had zero targets before AJ Brown left the game and just the 63% route rate for dobs. So Demaria Douglas had more routes than him before the AJ Brown injury. And they kind of forced things to dobs after that. And it did not look good. You know, in order to go but up. But I think that he could play better. It wouldn't surprise me if he plays better. They've got more difficult matchups coming up. I think it's Pittsburgh and Jacksonville. I think are the next to matchups. So I think two really good defensive coordinators there and really good defensive front. So this line is definitely going to be tested. That's the more concerning thing to me with New England. I know. Obviously it's easy to react to what we just off in the passing game. But to
me, the board can start anything as they couldn't run the ball at all. That a 25% success rate on running back runs. They got some runs at the end of the game. But before that, it was just awful. 2.6 yards were carrying on running back runs. Another thing that stood out to me was the Patriots used under center a lot in this game more than they did in any game last year. Their shotgun rate was only 36%. Their lowest shotgun rate last year was 42%. The rate on the year was 53%. 36% in this one is definitely unusual. On running back runs specifically, they used under center 83% at the time. So 17% shotgun rate on running back runs. I think they really honestly, I'm always nervous talking about a freaking professional who's done this for so, so long. It knows more about football than all of them. I think Josh McDaniel coached extremely scared in this game. I think that they just went with an extremely conservative approach and tried to just lean on their round game and it didn't
work very well. And that's a classic, you know, a Bella check in variable type of response to the starting quarterback for the Bozendium going down. Yeah. So yeah, I don't want to overreact to it too much. AJ Brown barely played in this lot. It was almost exclusively pop Douglas. And then yeah, the other thing is Mac Hollins played a lot. He wasn't out there running routes a lot, but he did play more than both pop Douglas and Romeo dobs before the AJ Brown injury. But hilariously, even though he had like a 70% snap rate, his route rate was like 25%. So that's another thing where it's like extremely conservative tell. You're just telling them you're going to do that. Yeah. Mac Hollins comes out on the field is going to be a run. At the end of the game, they had to like lean on him because like jobs looked rattled and nothing else was working. I don't know what to think make of this. Like I wish they would just freaking play Kyle Williams because he's legitimately their best crazy, their best route winner. But instead, they just have them on returns with AJ Brown out. He's straight up their best receiver. So that's that's brutal.
At least our boy Eli Rared and God, the first touchdown of the season. Yeah. How fun was that, dude? Very fun. We've got another sickos league that the beyond the box court chat made like back in I don't know April or something. A dynasty league that they just made for fun. And I looked to that league after the rarer didn't touch down and they're like 150 messages. In the sickos league, I was like two picks away from him. I'm still disappointed. I didn't get him. I wanted him. You know, you know, I know. Of course, you did them right before I think right before me or something. But yeah, that I guess just a wrap up on the Patriots and I want to move to the sea. I think you're right. It was conservative. And I think it was in part because or in large part because Donald went down with that said without AJ Brown in there, I do have some major concerns personally about their passing game. And I don't want to use this. It is very anecdotal. But something felt off about May from a from a pop standpoint for a velocity standpoint. I've seen some people talking about it on Twitter. I don't know if there is some kind of undisclosed injury. We
don't know about with his shoulder with his arm, but it just felt like the ball wasn't getting to the spot the same way it was. And I've watched so much Drake may tape over my lifetime. I watch every UNC snap. So I don't know if that's a thing or if that was just maybe hit the nerves playing a factor for him because he definitely looked rattled too. You mentioned Dobbs played rattled. Well, he played rattled as well. He was awful on deep throws. Yeah. Like he looked like himself attacking kind of like the intermediate area of the field. But on the few deep throws that we saw, I was just like, what the heck was that? Like the very first one, the AJ Brown Flufflicker, but like all the way through on these really bad was just like underthrowed underthrowed. Which is nothing that wasn't the case last year at any point. So it is by far the best deep throw. It was like kind of darnled, but like in terms of completion rate and everything like just unreal on deep throws last year. And this is something we've known for a while now is that he's got an incredible arm and everything. Like, I don't know what the heck that was. So that's maybe nothing that lingers. Yeah, that's my guess is that that kind of stuff is kind of random and just the one game thing. And then all the other stuff is like, yes, Seattle's nasty. They're very confusing on
defense. They've got so much talent. They're dominant. They're confusing on defense. And they also don't have to commit any resources to the run game because their front four just stops the run game. So it just makes it really difficult to do anything to call anything against them. So I want that to be it's a good point by you at the start of the show. And I want that to be factored in. Let's not fully pan it because this is the one one of defenses. Let's hope that over to Seattle. What do you think of Seattle's offense? Obviously, we don't know where we're going to be with Darnold. But how about your focus on the backfield? Daring Price would be fun. So I told you this and I just played out the rest of the draft season. I'd never ended up getting enough of Daring Price. And I felt like that was going to be the player I was most scared to not get. His ranking was like pretty much buried the entire offseason based on like, oh, there's going to be like guys, Mixanon and Desharbonne return, which still could impact him. And if Darnold injury does linger, he probably is ultimately not going to be a good fantasy by. But just from the looks of it, this too looks freaking awesome, man. Like from a talent standpoint, he's not only their best option in the backfield. He's one of their best options is just creating offense. That was,
offense was really hard to come by for the for the Seattle last night. One start on one down. And there was the one big broken Jackson Smith and Jigga play where he's just an absolute beast and made a big pack play post catch, which by the way, Jacob, my friend Kevin Appenzola remember when we did the podcast breaking down my home league auction and how you ma I know I got maugged. He was major offense to your to your comment about Jackson. We're just chasing points with ranking Jackson just Smith and Jigba high. And then I got an immediate text after that touch on. So I expect to get a ton of season for him. Yeah. Yeah. I will say this, JSM looked awesome post catch. JSM is awesome. Yeah. I don't know. Like what are people like it's not worth any spending any time on it to be honest, but like what do you think I mean by that? That JSM is not awesome by saying that we're reaction to him scoring points. All I'm saying is like last year was different. We don't know if Arnold will be the best deep thore in the league again. For sure. Don't I think that's fair. Like our will be as good. Right. Just don't know. Like Jackson Smith and Jigba literally put up one of the most efficient seasons of all time. Yes. And that's so hard to to reserve. No, I think
don't know if we'll get that again. That's hard to do. Just bringing it up because it popped across my my screen as I was watching the game. But I will say this, JSM is probably the most locked in piece of that offense that I feel comfortable with because while I did think price was awesome, they showed no signs of leaning on price despite him being their instant offense for the first half and large parts of the second half as well. They gave Alaniate carries. They mixed in who was that other guy who got a touch for them that I'm blank. The manual Wilson. Manual Wilson got like a tie and who knows if that's a fees part of the plan. And then all of a sudden like we're dealing with situation where yeah, price looks super talented and explosive, but not a not a major involvement in the passing game. We still don't know what's going to happen in the red zone really there. One sharp and a comes back which is expected sooner than later probably week five. They're thinking. So and then if Darnell's out for any amount of time, this offense tanks in general for me with lock in because I watched your lock with the Giants. He's not in NFL quarterback and will be adjusted too fast once teams get film on him. So I ultimately feel like coming out of this game. I only feel
confident about JSN and he thoughts on flurry. I thought he looked pretty good. I thought he was going to have ahead of them the whole time. Good point. Like flurry had a really good game plan, especially after losing his starting quarterback and came up with that big play to win the game to JSN. So yeah, flurry. The signs earlier that flurry is not in over his head at least as a play caller. No touches for price in the red zone. Hologna got both the red zone touches for at the running back position. Only a 33% snap rate for price in the red zone. Hologna played more. Yeah, I thought he looked great. Made some explosive plays. He was the more successful runner of the two clearly, but the only 10 rushes for him. Also, I thought the Travian Henderson of last year, right? That kind of had profiles. Places are receiver too. So I could see him getting more and more involved. We'll see as we want and he didn't have a preseason. So I wouldn't surprise me if he just, if his usage just keeps going up and up and up. Hologna didn't do anything to be like the needs to be in the field more. I don't think he's ever going to be the third down back for this team.
I mean, not that that matters that much, right? But I just think the other guys are better on in pass protection. That wasn't something the price didn't college. That should never be the expectation. But could he eventually be the clear lead back and get instead of it being 10 carries the him eight to him to Hologna, you two to Wilson. It could be freaking 17 to him. Three to Hologna, you know, I think that's realistic. Because like, why are you giving Hologna the ball? Hologna is a great pass predictor. Let him do that. But I think it's so clear that price is the best runner. So this is, I mean, this is why I was low on price. We talked about this all during the draft season. It's he, uh, he's a really explosive player and a fun player, but not necessarily somebody who profiles as in every down back. It takes a ton of projection to get him to, to that type of playing time. So we'll see it, and especially with Charbonne and Looming. I think it is what it is. We'll see if I remember when we looked at the schedule, I was like, they've got some really nice matchups as in the early going the first like month or two of the season Seattle.
And so I could see price kind of popping off. And if you have them, I think you ride them and then try to trade them. It's kind of where I'm at with them. Okay. I don't think he's ever going to be a three down back unless there's like multiple injuries of the his back. Go nights. All right. Good stuff. Football's back. Um, you ready? Let's talk about Brock Bauer's real quick. Yeah. And then we'll have a first break. Um, yeah. Yeah. Brutal stuff here. I'm sorry, but we got to do it. It's so brutal, man. I said, so you, you went all in on Bauer's in your most expensive league. And I'm so confused by that. Because all off season, you told me you weren't doing that. Like, and then why did I'm why was it Bauer specifically? You said you like built your strategy around Brock Bauer's like, why was it Bauer's and not like, loveland or something? I'm very confused. Yeah. Good question. So I think when you make your decision in an auction to buy one of these top tight ends, whether it be Bauer's and McBride or Loveland, you kind of price out in your head what you're expecting them to go for. And in this specific league, it's a weird league Jacob. It's a 14 team super flex where quarterbacks get point either point two five or point five. I think it's point five
per completion. So quarterbacks are scoring like 60 points a week. The good ones. So everyone just piles money on quarterbacks. And my strategy the last two years, hopefully none of them are listening because I kind of feel like it's the optimal strategy has been to completely avoid quarterback and just get guys who can start games for me. I don't really care what they do because I just need guys who can play and then have so much budget for everything. So with that, I was able to get Bauer's Walker Ken Walker, Bijon Robinson, Waddle and DJ Moore as my big five. So I had to either decide if I wanted to go essentially the way this league plays out. I knew going in based on the last two drafts that Bauer's would be the same price as like an eco-colon's Drake London tier. And to me, I felt like the money was better spent on Bauer's looking back. I don't know if I can ever do this again, Jacob. If this is another year of Bauer's like, oh, there's Naga and the injury and it's two straight years of the knee, I'm kind of just out on him for his career probably for me just because it's burned me twice. So I'm just going to this is tilt. This is me going on full tilt. I'm using a motion to make fantasy decisions right now, but I can't go through another
year of this knee nagging the entire year. I just can't. Absolutely brutal stuff. Yeah, he's like a crucial crucial player for me and dynasty. I had like four teams where and some of the were my biggest money teams or me and my brother were like, we're absolutely screwed. Before we even start, I have two leagues where you have to start two tight ins in these leagues. So that's obviously having a Brock Bauer's and we have to start two tight ins is so important. And in both of these two tight ins leagues, I had Brock Bauer's and it's just like, oh, not only do we not get this huge edge that we thought we were getting now, I have to try to fill the second tight ins. And I was planning on Bauer as being a stalwart for me there. Now it's just like, let's see if we can go scrounge up some resources that Travert Cade on. Exactly. That's for off-man too. Like I obviously didn't pay for back up tight end. I got Bauer's. Oh gosh. So here are my week one tight in rankings. I do have Michael Mayor at tight end 11 versus Miami. I expected to be like a full-time player. I already was kind of expecting him to be
close to a full-time player given the way that I think Kubiak's going to use his offense and incorporate two tight insets and everything. Great match appearance. The dolphins, the raiders have decent expectations according to Vegas. Mayor looked good in the preseason. Really talented guy. So I've got him above Donald and Concade. Donald and Schultz, Mark Andrews, Cade-Anne, Jake Ferguson, Britain Strange, Travis Kelsey, just behind like John Johnson, who I really like. Isaiah Lightly, who I really like for week one Dallas Goddard. I've got those guys as starters ahead of Mayor. What do you think about that, Dan? It's an aggressive rank and I'm here for it. And I know some people said don't just put in Mayor because he's not going to play the same role as Bauer's. I don't think we're aggressive in our ranking of him because of that. I think we're aggressive because of what we've seen with Kubiak. And what we've seen of Mayor, who is a prospect I really like, Amanda Notre-Dame. It's been a weird career for him. Some off-field stuff seems committed to football now at times. There were questions about that. And I love his talent. So I think this is the type of coordinator and scheme and play
color to get the most out of him. And more importantly, I just love the fit for this is kind of why I like Bauer's for Mayor or any of these tight ends in Kubiak scheme with Kirk Cousins. Look at what happened with Kyle Pitts when Kirk Cousins got in. This is late stage career Kirk Cousins, late stage capitalism Cousins. And he's just taking what he can get at tight end and at running back in the passing game. So I actually think that this is a good ranking for him. I don't need, I'm trying to think if I'd rank anyone above him. Shultz is the only interesting one. Just because I think he's probably a more prominent read in that offense right now, given how light they are on receiver and how mixed and matched they've had to be there. But I think I still have Mayor here. You can't say how light they are receiver in comparison to the true narrators. Yeah, I feel pretty good about starting. If you have to go there today, we're going to get to Flex Startsit decisions. So if you have questions about Flexes, put those in the live chat here. We'll get to as many of those
as you can. If you're asking questions about specific positions like riding back receiver, we already have videos up on the channel for all of those. So just go check those out. We've got a playlist made and everything. So week one rankings up already for you. Quarterback, riding back receiver, Titan rankings will hit the feed on Friday. Today, we're going to do Flexes. All right, we're going to take our first break. We'll be right back and talk through some of the toughest Flex decisions for week one. All right, Dan, we're going to start this off with Flexes. We think you can trust in week one. Really, we have no idea, right? Week one is, week one is so chaotic. As we saw last night, Romeo Dobbs, somebody who like you would have assumed probably had a role for the team that just paid him all that money. Right. And then just was there, why do you see your three or four brutal? Out of the game where it's just like, oh, okay, he gets zero points. Okay. Rashit Shaheed, like maybe you thought you could put him in and then Sam Darnell freaking busts up
his hip on the second play of the game. And it's just like, oh, he gets zero points based. So yeah, I don't know. We'll talk through some names here that we think that we might have to be able to put price in that mix considering the way you broke it down. Like where's the path for points for him? Yeah, he was not somebody I thought that you could trust. Okay. I had just having price very low in my rankings this week because I was way off on that. I thought I'd do immediately and we wouldn't even hear from a lot. He was way off. He just didn't, I don't know, man. Like I don't know. Like I don't understand why you don't just blame almost all the snaps, but that's what they're doing. So yeah, I mean, he hasn't just, I don't even know where he's at in like getting reps, like knowing the play that's probably the issue. He missed a lot. I'm a football team and I'm taking him out in the red zone for a Lani. I'm actively hurting myself. My chance of scoring a touchdown. Yeah, first, but all right, I'm going to put my flex rankings up on the screen. We'll talk through some of these names. Can you start us off as I get this up? Can you look at the list that I put you I gave you there and talk about the talk? Oh, yes, I can. Yes, I can. We're going to start with the player
who Jacob and I went back, revealed the reviewed the film of this off season said, this guy might be a lot better than people realize it's going John Juckins, his film is phenomenal from a circuit season. So by not getting all that much from his blocking, banged up Cleveland offensive line, getting absolutely nothing from his quarterbacks and teams played so far up in the box. But as we fast forward to this year, that same scenario presents itself. He's going to get nothing from his quarterbacks. They're going to be playing up in the box and his whole line is still a weird work in progress similar to the Texans. A lot of veteran plays, I guess, we'll call them on the offensive line that are expecting to play well again, that haven't played that well for the last couple of years in their careers. Quinshot, John Juckins, Cleveland at Jacksonville, GameScript figures to be bad. Can we trust this guy in any format? That's a decision we're going to be making today. I thought you heard you're okay. We'll be talking about, should we stop? Are we going through Juckins or we just want to go player by player?
I don't know. May you give any outlook you want on Juckins? I've got them here behind Bree Sol. I had a Ramandre ahead of him, but that's basically how I see it. It's like a locked-in bell cow that I don't trust the offense, really. Cleveland has the lowest employee total of any team in week one. So I'm curious, who you feel comfortable starting in the head of. You see the guys I have on the screens for half PPR. This feels too high, honestly. This is just pre-ed by fantasy pros, according to where I ring my running backs and why do severs individually within their positions. Would probably move all these receivers ahead of him. But you just had of him, Watson had him. That's the group that I think is interesting. So I think why it's important to do this categorically is like, sure, QJ Watson ahead of him, that feels better, but also those guys could score two points. Yep. And I think the outcome where Juckins scores two points is extremely unlikely. So if you want something that you think you can trust that feels a little bit safer, even though he could have a bad game because the Browns could just not be able to get first downs.
And the fault with that thinking is also like, do we care if he gets six points versus two points when the upside was always higher with those receivers? Because I think that's where we're at with Juckins. He can easily get to four to six, like 40 to 60 rushing. But will he get receptions in this new offense? I think here's a better chance. But I'm a little bit worried with Watson at quarterback versus maybe a check down guy like Sanders. I also think Samson is still going to play most if not all the third downs. So it kind of comes down to do you trust this offense to get into the red zone enough times for Juckins to score or do you trust Juckins and the blocking game to create a big explosive long touchdown run? That's kind of how he scored his points last year in fantasy. I do not trust that. So for me, he would be lower in the rankings. He would qualify as someone on the dano meter as a 4.1 trust factor for week one. Him or Jerry, my love. I would easily go love for me. Why? I don't even because love at least has upside to score points if he's playing. The reason we don't start love is because well, who knows about the injury, who knows where they're at? Maybe they'll ease him in. Maybe I'll play a bigger role in week one
than we expect. But at least love for me can get fantasy points on any given touch. Or potentially if he's playing and they feel good enough to put him out there could be like the four-minute drill off a four-minute offense back or the catch up points garbage time back that they just want to check down to a bunch. That's his path to points for me and PPR and FPP are. Juckins path is scoring touchdowns or a touchdown in a game where I just don't really feel like Cleveland's going to score more than one if that. I mean, I think he could give you explosive plays. Potentially, I think there's I would I'm curious what his rushing line is for this week. I mean, it's like if we're so freaking scared to even start Juckins in this game, then when the hell are you ever starting him? Why the hell did you draft him? Because like the Jaguar's have a good defensive coordinator and like they have some big guys up front like they're decent against the run, but it's not like this is one of the league's best defenses. They are like truly terrified to face. This feels like a close to a neutral matchup. I guess it's on the road. They are big dogs, but it's like I just feel like this is what the game trip is going to look
like on paper every single week. And so if we're so scared off of hip this week, it's like, oh my gosh, like I know you and I didn't draft Juckins. There's no point in like getting into that, but it's just like, okay, realistically, when do you start him? Who do you start him over? Like, would you start him over the Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason this week? Yeah, not Mason for me by any means, but I never had to start over the Pittsburgh running backs. That's a good question because we don't really know exactly what's going to happen with the Pittsburgh situation yet. So maybe it's a safer play. But yeah, I mean, Vulcan puts it in the chat jacks. I had a really good run defense last year and it just feels like a really bad matchup for Juckins. I guess if the question is like, when would you play him if you're not going to play him this week? It's a good question. Like, do they ever have a game script that looks good or, you know, it could just get to a point like it was last year where he played through the bad game scripts. I guess is the way like it went down for a little while and he was scoring touch on. I remember the London game he's scoring into the Vikings a tougher run defense. So I do think
you have a point as far as like what's safe, but I like a player like Mason to me, for example, Vikings have a great offensive line that could be top five. The zone runs game is look great. He's a great fit for that. It's look good all off season. What if they just get out there and start running? Like, I feel so much more confident that the Viking in the Vikings run game right now than the Browns run game and both of them are not impact players in the passing game. Would you start him over like the Arizona receivers? No, not a chance for me. I mean, in a half or four people like the Arizona, here's to say I'll go to my mind, right? Judgkins. How am I envisioning this game? You know, 12 or 13 carries, right? He's going to find a way into those 12 or 13 carries. You think they're going to try to give him like 25 touches. I know that they might only have 45 plays. So we might not just want to. I just think that's the plan. Well, that's a 25-dig idea. Okay, we have a different opinion. I just don't think they're going to have that many offensive plays. They name like between. I think that's what they want to do.
Yeah. So just to be like now come where it's 12 carry seems extremely unlikely unless they like literally can't get first downs. I don't I think they literally can't get first downs at all. I think that's within the realm of outcomes, but I'm not like projecting them to be the worst offense every single game. Like I think most games are going to be able to have at least 50 plays. Like you think they're going to be the you're just like this is the worst offense I've ever seen. Clostest. A monkey coach team just like the munkin thing helps, but I mean last year, just for example, the last two years, DeShawn Watson and Shadort Anders are 37-38 that of me know all my quarterbacks in EPA. It's like as bad it's literally as bad as it gets, but maybe it'll be better. Yeah, 19 touches per game in that game. Yeah, and the healthy games. Yeah. Okay, let's say it's 19 touches, right? We can get to seven or eight points through that probably versus these Arizona receivers you're talking about where if they get behind like we expect them to, I feel much better about the chance of just a garbage time touchdown in addition to like 40 to 100 yards receiving.
It just seems like there's so much more upside like Arizona can score touchdowns. They showed it last year. Cleveland can't score touchdowns. Okay, so we're going to remove Joe Kinser in this group. He is not a player. Get him out. I don't want him in here, but I respect anyone who wants to play him because he is the starting running back and he's a great talent. Let's talk about Kim Skataboo because he's aware that I think it makes sense to have similar concerns for him in terms of returning from the injury and everything. But he is on a team that projected for a lot more points and again that could kind of turn into a shootout. Dan obviously does a Giants podcast thinks about them all the time. So I'm curious where you're at on Skataboo where you're at a Malik neighbors are those guys like locked in for you. I've coming that kind of low on Skataboo my rankings this week. I just don't really know what the role is going to be in week one. Just based off the way Todd Monkin has talked about, about Juckins. He's like clearly locked in as the offensive engine and Dylan Samson is just a good receiving back that they have on the team as well.
Whereas the Giants, it feels like they could compartmentalize the backfield into different roles. And that might end up being not as much of the Belka roles you want from Skataboo like we saw last year. Am I take time to get there? But I'm curious where you're read is on that because you obviously have more information on the Giants than I do. They've been guarded with this. So let me start by saying that. This is more of a guess. But I kind of feel like they've just been hiding Skataboo because if he's coming off the injury and they don't want to show everything in the preseason. I have a feeling he's going to be a much bigger part of this run game that people are expecting. And so I'm pretty confident going into the year and pretty saddened get enough Skataboo. Now the question is like will you have the same passing roles he had last year? That's more of the concern for me with Skataboo. But to me the Juckins vs Skataboo decision if you have it in your league is Skataboo because he's in an offense that projects according to Vegas to score more points. And in general in my mind, should be much better than the Browns. I hope you're God. There's bad as the Browns. My life. I don't even know what I'll do this season. It'll be so depressing. I'll just have to lean totally on getting my joy out of beyond the box score show. So seriously. So yeah,
I feel better about Skataboo because I feel better about the offense I guess. I don't necessarily know though. Like part of what made him special for fantasy last year was obviously the touchdowns and he had like six and seven games. But it was also the receiving role, which was a little bit unexpected. But shouldn't have been based on his collegiate receiving role and what he was able to do there. I'm still a little bit concerned. They're not visioning him the way they should in the passing game. Right. Yeah, that's kind of where I'm at. I just want to take a weight and see approach with this role. It obviously would be a huge game. So I had him in this group of players where it's like I labeled this tier high risk or wardflexes who could swing matchups. Because I mean, if Skataboo gets four or five catches or something like that, which is possible, which don't know what the role will be. So it might be like one or two, which would suck. And if he gets one or two catches, then you you really need him to get a touchdown. But if the catches are there and he scores, he has the potential to give 18, 20 points pretty easily, even without a lot of yardage. And it's like if he scores twice or something, if this game does turn into a shootout, which Vegas has
like pretty high expectations for, then he might actually be one of the highest scoring flex options available. I see him as similar to guys like Parker Washington where it could be big swings. We probably does quite as much of a like five or fewer point outcome available to him. Like Parker Washington could tank in a big way. We talked about that on our wide receiver show the day and I did. Devonte Adams, James and Williams, these guys have big upside, but they're a little bit risky. So this is for half a PR. I have Skataboo ranked ahead of those guys. And just behind like Christian Watson, Quentin Johnson, who also have really big upside. Here's where I met Kabuki is. So have him ahead of Skataboo as well. How do you feel about that for like flex decisions if you're in a, you know, shallower league or something you're deciding between Skataboo and some of those better receivers? Is he behind those guys? I typically tend to lean toward the receiver in half and full PPR almost always in these spots such as for a play like a Buka and Godwin. I have high expectations of where that game's going to go from a shootout standpoint and more importantly,
like giants could turn into shootout, but at the same time, I'm still not trusting the giant softens like I'm the box. So I'll lean on that. Quentin Johnson, a player I love this week, I would lean on him. But I really need like the one thing that concerns me, everything you broke down seems right and seems like Skataboo might be a good play and might end up being like an underrated pick. But the one thing that does concern me is like, Naji Harris made this roster, dude. I am a little bit worriedy it's into the red zone role because last year was just if you look at it like all Skataboo once it got rolling in the red zone. And that's why he was able to score so many points. So just keep that in mind. That's something I'm excited to track in week one, this giant's Cowboys game, where they're at with Naji. Yeah, I feel this red zone touches, that would be brutal first. It's brutal. Yeah, it gets to the point of like he's like a jadarian price at that point. Yeah, like 50% of the whole offences red zone touches last year, not just backfield from the games that he played. Okay, let's talk about Chris Godwin. So I still have him ranked ahead of a Mekka Buka and that might seem weird, but I don't exactly know if a Buka is
going to be like in his full role in week one. Also, the Cincinnati outside cornerbacks, I think are pretty dang good. I think the way to attack this team is like over the middle of the field. Obviously we've seen them be super susceptible to tight ends in the past. They gave about ton of yards after the catch yards after contact on our sections last year. I think this feels on paper like a Chris Godwin spot. Okay. And I feel like he's pretty, pretty locked in here, based off everything the team has said about him. He's going to play a really important role for them. We'll see on a Buka. Obviously there's upside for him to come out and just light it up like he did last year at the beginning of the season. I'm just taking a bit of a wait and see approach with him, but he's probably something to get your starting lineup. So again, these right case where fantasy pros aren't exactly representative. How I would do this? I would have these receivers ahead of the running backs. For example, I in a couple of leagues that are full PBR decided to start Godwin over in Mondrake Stevenson. So I would have him ahead of Brie Saul, ahead of Jeremiah Love, ahead of Jordan Mason, who I really like, Aaron Jones, Skataboo. What about like David Montgomery,
Bay Shaltoon could have a big game against the Browns? Would you start those running backs over Chris Godwin at Buka? Some of these rashi rice type receivers in week one. Don't exactly know how healthy rice is or what is role be tough matchup? No, I would definitely start at Buka and God when over those players for sure based on the matchup, based on the games for expectations and especially with Godwin, I really like to call your thing because we've talked all off season like the high upside at Buka case was Zach Robinson comes over. He's a new OC and he uses him as like this move piece in his offense. Well, is that just not going to happen after missing three weeks in practice? Maybe not in week one. And that's where Godwin really steps up for me as just like this pure underneath slot safety valve for Baker that he has a rapport built in with and he's been throwing to it for the last three weeks. So I really like the Godwin call. I think he should be ranked really high this week. Like a lot of people will probably have that a decision somewhere in their leagues if they roster Godwin where they drafted him on the border of their starters and flex. Definitely get him in. He's one of those guys like for me Jacob. He's one of the guys I've put in the category of like him, Quentin Johnson and others will go over where it's like I didn't draft
them to be my starter, but I'm literally starting them over a player I draft to be my starter this week. Yeah, for sure. Okay, so I'm fine with that. I've got those guys moved up ahead of those running backs. That's Tutan David Montgomery. Obviously could be a good game for Montgomery Buffalo. Yeah, against the run last year, but I think they're expecting to be a little bit better against the run this year. We don't exactly know how much of a bell cow roll this will be for David Montgomery, but it's a home match. We can say Buffalo if they end up scoring a lot of points and he's a bell cow, then he'll be one of the best starters for week one. I moved these guys down just to show you that we decided to put these receivers ahead of them, but like I do have him a head, Tutan and Montgomery ahead of her. Montgomery Stevens and I have these receivers ahead of him. Montgomery Stevens, he's just locked in because the way the fantasy throws does this. So Travis E.G. And then I assume is a lot where you're like these are the running backs where I'm not starting Godwin. Yes. What about Rashi Rice, Jaylen Waddle, Garrett Wilson, would you push those guys ahead of E.G. and like full PBR? That's interesting. It's a no for me. I think it's a no for me for now,
just given where their situation is at with Camarrah. I just think ATN you're right is that border is where it's like I have to start him no matter what based on the role. Okay. Let's talk about the Pittsburgh backs. So I have Jay Warren in this flexes we think you can trust in week one tier. That's not necessarily to say that he will be the bell cow or even the lead back, but I think he'll play an important role in passing down. I think he'll get a lot of targets. And I think he's going to have at a minimum like eight or 10 carries. And so in a decent matchup, I think that you can trust that in any sort of PPR format. I might hit this. This is probably a little bit too high where they have him. But I think you can go with him. But I do have him just one spot ahead of Rico Dado. So for the season, I had Warren higher because I liked his I thought he had a better likelihood of being the passing downs back. And as we saw with the freaking 86 targets that can have gained a lot of last year, that's an important role in this offense. And then if something does happen to Rico Dado, then I think he can play all three downs. If needed, I think J the morning is a really good player. But I ended up moving doubt a lot more and more and more as
it came closer to the season where I'm just like, it wouldn't surprise me, man. It wouldn't so I mean week one against Atlanta. It wouldn't surprise me if Pittsburgh at home is able to play with a lead and just lead on Rico. And it's like, oh my gosh, Rico Dado 20 carries. Where did that come from? And it's like, yeah, this was always their plan. You know, Mike McCarthy loves him. And they just like are able to control the game on the ground with him. That's kind of if you look at this team, they just keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger. I don't understand how they keep finding all these huge guys, but like the Steelers, they just look so mean and nasty. And Rico just feels like he fits that identity so well. So I've got him just behind Warren. If you want to start him over, Chuck Kins this week, that's fine with me. I'm curious where you're at on the the Pittsburgh backs. Would you just start that all outright in it in PPR formats? And then we'll talk about some some flex decisions with wider receivers compared to these guys outright starter for me. I had doubt all insanely high all preseason. I had him over Warren considerably. And for the reasons you broke down as I started to study this Steelers vary this iteration of the Mike McCarthy offense, which as you listen to Rogers, you listen to McCarthy, you listen to them all talk about it. It ain't going to be like the old McCarthy offense is where Rogers is in the gun. They're running 11
and he's just picking at matchups. It's going to be under center more and they're going to be running the ball a lot. And I think that's probably like Rogers and McCarthy talked and they're like, here's where I'm at at 40 whatever years old I am. I can only do certain things that I used to not be able to do within your scheme. So let's cater it around that. And the way that sounds to me and you just brought it up, they've done a great job or a planishing and building out their offensive line. They could be a legitimate bully on the offensive line, the run game. They got move players too, guys who can like you can run power gap schemes and have these guys like on the move pulling and being weapons in your run game on that offensive line. It sets up to me like Doubles offense. And we'll see if I'm wrong or right about that. But I've just been locked in on that opinion for the last two months and I'm excited to see it actually play out because we've seen throughout the offseason, Dattle got the first touch and then Warren got the first touch in the next practice and it's been kind of hard to predict. But if they're in good game scripts like this game should be it's Atlanta, it should be a doubtful game. So to me, I look at that and I'm like I wouldn't even consider starting Junkins over Dattle. Literally, wouldn't even consider it personally Jacob. And
Dattle to me is somebody I'd rank pretty high for this week because if I'm wrong, look, Atlanta puts up a good game, Dattle could be a horrible play. But if I'm right and they're blowing out Atlanta and they're just holding and controlling the game the entire time, Dattle could be like you said a 20 plus touch player. He was that at times for Carolina last year and he was phenomenal in doing so. I felt like he looked really good on film. I'm not to say Warren doesn't because Warren does too. They're both really good backs. But Dattle is somebody you can lean on and build the entire offensive game plan around. I'm not so sure Warren is that player. Yeah, Dattle, I put in the high risk reward flexes who could swing matchups tier because like you feel like you've got to start out over Junkins. How could you not? It's like I could see Dattle having like four carries. Yeah, right. I don't know at all what his role is going to be. And I think it's very unlikely that Junkins gives us the touches. But like where are they going? And what do I care? I mean, if he's really, really good, it could just be 140 yards. Who knows? Like I don't think he's going to do that. But it's just like the dudes nuts. You know, he could absolutely put that talent. Yeah. What do I care? He could put that in your face, dude. Like he's so good. I hope yeah. Maybe he will.
So you do is it Dattle over Warren for you then? Just outright. Yes. Yes. It's been outright the whole offensive. Even the PPR stick with it. Yeah, any format. I'm sticking with it. Okay, let's talk about receivers then. Roma Dunesay. We got a question in the chat about Odunze. Would you start Dattle over Odunze? Would you start Dattle over like DJ Morgan's that the Texans in PPR? DJ Morgan's the Texans scares the hell out of me. And I've been toying with Benchengham and I have them in a lot of leagues. But I do think he may be match or proof based on how I talked to us on the last podcast. How the bills offense is set up. It's just so under center roll out heavy personnel that like it's just going to be a lot of free. I think free yards for a player like DJ Moore. It's going to be the number one option. So I wouldn't start him over Moore. Who is the other player? Odunze. We're going to know Dunesay questions like Odunze or Blake Korum. Right. I see Korum in Dattle pretty similarly with they're being slightly more risk or word without him. We're like he could take over the backfield. Where is I don't think Korum's going to? And this is a good question. Edo Hansenhoek. Should I wait for for Odunze? And that's Korum versus the Dunesay. It's the second
question we got here. I mean the problem is if you wait for Odunze and he doesn't play, you're definitely not going to have anyone near Korum's level. So I feel like the gap isn't big enough that I probably just play Korum. Where are you out with that? Yeah, I would just play Korum in that Yeah. I've got them ranked. I love it. Because I think Odunze if he plays could be I think if Odunze played the Bears could put up a lot of points this week one. Yeah. All right. Let's let's before our next break. Let's just real quick talk about a few of the players. Oh yeah. And then so Mike Evans is a high risk or wordflex who could swing matchups. I'm very high on him. Dan Mike Evans or Jeremiah Love. Evans. Even in that matchup. Evans. Mike Evans or Devon Mugumri. I think you sold me yesterday when you were like I don't care how good McDuffy is. He's not big enough to defend. No one's good enough to defend Evans when he's healthy. Yeah. It's true though. Like look at this separation numbers last year from fantasy points data. Look at watching him. Just use your eyes and watch when they throw the ball up to him. You literally like physically
can't stop him without causing bads interference. So I'm just Evans all the way. And when Evans is healthy, he will not not be in my line up. Evans all the way easy enough. Let's talk about Deva Samuel. I think you can trust Deva Samuel. Interesting. I don't see where I've got him. I've got Deva Samuel like in the Tony Pollard range of flexes. I've got him above the Carolina bags above JK Dobbins. Okay. If you like want to go with a trustworthy starter, I think you and PPR you could go with Deva over like March on Lloyd. What do you think about all that? Is this just in your mind? I'm going to get to where you're at with the thinking on this. Is this a simply like he's early in the season. He's at his healthiest and the role will be nice. They'll give him some carries and touches around the line of scrimmage that gets him in some offense. And I don't care about the matchup. Right. Yeah. It's depot. I mean, we know who he is. I don't love the matchup for sure. I think that they could do a good job against this type of receiver. They're cornerbacks. Right. But I also think if they're under pressure, they might, you know, Shane, him I really design a lot of just quick look to have Devo as the hot in those situations. I wouldn't be surprised if he
gets six seven targets in this spot. He has the ability to still create some yak at this point his career. I thought he showed juice last year at the beginning of the year. Kind of tapered as the year went on. So yeah, I just see it as an okay spot. San Francisco is like middle of the pack and apply total. So I put him the same range. Yeah. What do you think about Stefan Diggs or Devo? Like he's another playwright. Put this flexes. I think you can trust consideration. That's a good one. I think they're the similar plays, but Devo has a better chance of being like designed, getting design touches. So I'd probably be Devo from I would also go Devo over Marshawn Lloyd for the Flex play. Not only am I massively skeptical on Lloyd season long and in general, this is not the matchup I want to be pounding Lloyd in against the Vikings defense. Like I think it could be an ugly, ugly four to six point game for him. My brother's been asking me about Marshawn Lloyd or like this guy or that guy. I'm like, what do you think for Marshawn Lloyd? I'm like, dude, I Marshawn Lloyd could have two touches. I got no clue. I don't think I that I don't think is if they fall behind and they're just getting the crap lits out of them and they're line is struggling.
It's going to be Chris Brooks and there I'd be shocked if it's not going to be interesting. If they fall behind, okay, I didn't even think about that like GameScript because I figure that game is probably going to be close regardless. I could be wrong on that. It's interesting. I think Lloyd's going to they're going to try to get Lloyd going. I just don't think it might, but I'm just saying if they do put getting a GameScript or they are like getting if love is hitting blitz and good point. He did not like I just think you're not I don't know. We'll see where Lloyd's at, but no, that's a good point. You and I talked with Greg from Coach Speak Index and he was very much like divide there is kind of like we'll see we hope that he knows we don't live exactly where he's at with the right. This was never the plan to be the featured guy. The plan was like, oh, he's healthy. Finally, like let's have a specific you know role for him and now it's like the role has to be big. I'm with you on that. I'll be interested to watch that whole backfield. I ranked him just ahead of Gidarian price and I feel like it's pretty similar where it's like I think that there's a small likelihood that he might get like a lot more touches than price. I would have been surprised if price got more than like 15 touches last night. I would have been very surprised. I think we
could see that for Lloyd. Well Lloyd, I think has a better chance of playing the red zone role. You said, a lot of you got the two red zone snap or whatever it was like touches. So I think that's the one edgy as over at price, type of player. Right. I think there's a chance that he gets like kind of featured as a lead back. If everything goes fine for green Bay, whereas I think price is more likely to be eased in at this point. But also don't know if he's as good as price. You know, that's kind of in my head. He's not as good as price. I know he's not as good as price. I don't know. I've never really got to know anything. I don't know anything. But I'm pretty I feel pretty good about that. Yeah. In my head, that's the difference between the two is like I just didn't really know exactly where they would shake out. So they fall in this. Sure. Weird range where it's like I've got them below like Corum and the Pittsburgh backs, but above Tony Pollard. And then if you look at wider receivers, it's like if you want more comfort, if you want to go with like one Dale or sorry, I think that's fine. And then if you want to go with a similar type of profile in terms of risk or word, I think a lot of the guys that we like like Josh Downs, DK Meckhan for you, Jordan Addis,
and then Jaden Reed, Jalen Coker, those guys all profile fairly similarly where it's like they could pop. I could see 15 plus points for those guys just like I could for Lloyd, but also they could give you a really bad game. I don't think that there is locked in as like somebody like Juan Dale. Yeah. Do you feel different about DK? Do you think DK belongs more in the like safe starter? Is he like a risk or word flex free this week? I've done such a 180 on DK. I like love him now for the season. I give him happy. I got him at the end of a couple drafts. I like him a lot for this week. I just think with pitman, I know pitman's a full go, but with pitman not practicing with Rogers, I think it's going to take a little bit of time for them to get that rapport down. And I think for early part of the season, a lean on DK. Do you think it's weird at all that the Steelers are barely favored in a home game against Atlanta? Weirdest spread on the entire bus. Talk to my friend, Sean McGuronsky yesterday about this. And like we we always talk about games. And he's like, this is the number one trap of week one. Like how does this make any sense? That's a stealer. It was three to it. Move the three and a half. Like I don't even understand how it's not five and a half six. Like at home against this horrific falcon scene that like has the
best two defensive players out one suspended one out for the year. And then two is starting. Yeah, that gave me a lot of pause when I saw that because I got I want to be in on these Pittsburgh guys. It feels like a really good spot for them to get their season. But Vegas knows. But yeah, Vegas is probably more right more often than me. I don't really know what to think of that. Vegas is always. Yeah. Alrighty. So I've got my rankings up on the screen. I had like Quint Johnson, Christian Watson, those guys I thought it might be worth Parker Washington. To me, those are like some of the the players that are really in flex consideration and a lot of leagues. I thought it might be worth talking about them. But it seems like pretty clearly you're just kind of like favorite. Most of those guys over the running backs in this tier. And you and I already did talk about them more depth on the White receiver show. So go check that out if you all miss the White receiver ranking show. It's got Jane Reed on the thumbnail because of course. What about like the Minnesota backs? Would you start the Minnesota backs over any of those receivers? QJ Watson, Devonta out of his Parker Washington, Jameson Williams, Marvin Harrison,
Jr. DJ Moore. I have that debate in a few leagues. It will make sense specifically. I think Mason ended up being my most rostered player this year, which is wild. Right. See if I'm right on that. I don't know if I will be. But I would probably still not start him over any of those and definitely not Jones over any of those players. Just the way I lean in these tough spots. I like to go with the risk. We don't need to talk about these guys. And it would daily start the receivers clearly. And I think that that's fine. We talked about this. He was on the receiver show. We've got some questions here in the chat like about, you know, Watson, God, Odunzee Downs. Like we're not going to do White receiver stuff. We already talked about those guys a lot in that show. And you can find my rankings there for sure. Go ahead and check that out. I want to get into flex discussions for sure. That's what we're emphasizing today. I'm, did you, where are you at on neighbors? Like, are you just locking neighbors in here? Are you taking a cautious approach? Like I've got some leagues that are really shallow where I actually can just go with Lutherburton over neighbors or whatever. Do you, how do you feel about him this week? Locked in locked in. He will not, if you roster
neighbors and drafted him and you back for this week. I think you're making a mistake. He was a full participant in practice yesterday. No red jersey, no nothing. They cut Darryl Slate and earlier this week, they only have four receivers after that. They'll bring back burials to be the fifth. I think the role for him is pretty clear. And I think they're going to be playing a ton of 11. I'm sorry, 12 and 21 person L where he's only one of two receivers on the field and just the clear dark play action. Hit your back foot and you're probably just throwing it to neighbors. Like I think we could be looking at major target chairs for neighbors early. And I just have from what I've seen in camp, he looks fine. Like I don't know what to worry about. I mean, he's got to take a hit. He's got to play in the game. But I don't think this is going to be like, he gets 12 snaps to start type of thing. I think it's like you put him out there and you let him go and see what happens. For audio listeners, I've got neighbors above Waddle, Rice, Garrett Wilson, Drake London, and below Luther Burton, Tedora Mcmillan, Zayf Lourdes, Lad McConkey, George Pickens, T Higgins,
The Vanta Smith. All right. Good. Good to get that vote of confidence from Dan. Let's talk about the Carolina running backs. Obviously, don't know who's going to get more work where Jonathan Brooks is out with his health. Seems like growing soreness is where we're at. Don't exactly know what to do with that. Coral and sudden is another guy wanted to talk to you about in the same range for me. He's somebody who's dominated the chiefs in the past that times. This bigger physical presence I've talked about like the chiefs of heads and problems with that. But their cornerback room is kind of like rebuilt to be I think emphasizing physicality. So I'm curious how sudden is going to play in this matchup. I'm very, very intrigued by this Monday night matchup between the chiefs and the Broncos. I think it might be one of those games. It's like low scoring and feels gross, but it's actually a really fun football guy game or whatever. Sudden, I think, is going to have his hands hold with the chiefs cornerbacks. I've got some pushback on that because it's like how can you crown a rookie receiver and say he's going to bother
Jay and Lana. The chiefs traded up to draft this guy sixth overall. When the hell do cornerbacks ever go that high? You know what I mean? We have a different opinion on this one for sure. That should be the expectation for a player drafted that high at cornerback. I don't think you should ever expect that at corner. It's such a hard position to play at the NFL level until I'm I'm still I'm see if I see it. I always have discussion with Nick on Big Blue Bander until I see it like when you see Sir Tan or whoever it may be. I don't believe it for for corners. I just think you're back paddling. You can't touch the guy and you can't contact him downfield. He's allowed to push you at any time as we've seen throughout Evans's career. To me, it's just like the position is impossible to play. Hopefully you there's like four or five guys who can play at a high level. Yeah, and I just think that if you're going to invest that type of resources into that player, that's the expectation. Not for weak want. Do you think that's expectation right away off the out of the game? Okay. Yeah, well, I guess we'll see. But everything has looked the part. It's just preseason and stuff. But any glimpses that we've seen, he's just looked so legit. He hasn't matched up against Jalen Waddle at any point in his career. So we're going to find out fast. Yeah, that's fair.
He's been going against Xavier worthy. Oh yeah, and camp. I just met him college at LSU. But yeah. So I've got Sutton in the same ranges like these very questionable running back flexors. His teammate, Jacob Doddman's, I think I would start ahead of Sutton. Sutton is one of these players who could give you a big week. But I also think you could get a very, very disappointing score from Corlan Sutton. Would you go with these Carolina running backs or Corlan Sutton? Do you say? Sutton, for me, the expectation is the Bears deepens is going to be taking a major step back this year. But I don't foresee it. I don't foresee the panthers having a lot of rushing success in this game. I don't think they'll be able to keep up games, script wise. But Hubbard would be the, like I have to figure out, like if Brooks is in a position as will know closer to Sunday, I guess Jacob will probably find out Saturday where he's really not going to play a big role in week one. I'll say Hubbard over him for sure, just based on volume. Okay. What about like Tony Pollard or Corlan Sutton? Go with the safety of the mix there? No, I'm going Sutton there. I
don't find Pollard safe. Right? Like the matchups probably okay with the jets, but like that often it just might be a battle line and he may just have like four points easily. Okay. I'm much lower on Sutton. I would go with all these running backs. I would go with Lloyd over him even. They project fairly similar to me. The Titans are implied for more points in the Broncos this week, by the way. I think Matthew Golden is worth mentioning here as a flex. You're kind of like just hoping for the best with a lot of these receivers, but I think I do really like the upside case for Matthew Golden, Josh Downs, Jaylin Coker, our boys here, Jane Reed, Jordan Addison. I really like the upside case for all these guys. I wouldn't even be fine in any sort of PPR format starting them over. Some of these like Pittsburgh running backs or Carolina running backs and these situations where you don't know what to expect. Are you seeing Denver differently than me? Like people have been surprised that I'm low on Dobbins. Would you move him up your flex rankings here? Would you start Dobbins ahead of Pollard, Lloyd or any of these receivers in this range? Is this too low to you?
Yeah, it's a little too low to me. Definitely starting with Pollard, Lloyd, a lot of those receivers. It's just that the implied total for the Broncos is lower than every team that is any good at all. Right. And you're probably right that like it is. He's also dealing with a pretty nasty situation. They moved the Titans down. They're now employed for a few imply for a few times. The Broncos, sorry. Yeah, I got to rethink that one. I feel like well, it's like I expect Carvy to have some kind of role in the passing game and Coleman to get at least a few snaps because that's how Sean Payne does it. So it's probably a little too high on Dobbins, but he's been really good when healthy. And these are the games you get him healthy for. So I almost feel like I want to play him over a lot of those players while he's healthy. I remember when we looked at the Denver opening season schedule, this is I like ended up moving Dobbins that rankings a lot. So it's like in theory, he's the beginning of the season guy, but their matchups the beginning of the season are pretty brutal. And then here we see in week one where they're only applied for 20 and a half points. So that's just where I'm kind of low on these Broncos guys.
Okay, anything else stand out to you in this range that you want to talk about? Is there any like flex you want to call out that you really like from this range that we've been talking about this draft season that you think you feel good starting week one, you're starting in your leagues, you want to mention for people? It's odd. And I hope it doesn't sound home-ersh, but I kind of feel like Isaiah Leickley is a really good show to have a floor this week. I guess he gets more of a tight end than a flex, but you could be in a position where you drafted two tight ends and you have a pretty nasty flex decision to make. And I think I would feel much more confident starting him over a lot of these guys, like even like the Pollards and you know, and the of the war and Lloyd's of the worlds who are just in really bad situation sharing work and in a bad game script. I mean, his likely is role that much different than stuff on Diggs's role. Right. Exactly. No, it shouldn't be. Yeah, I think he belongs in this conversation. I think he can go. We expect them to score more against Dallas than we probably expect Washington to score against Philly, right? I think that makes sense. There's definitely more potential for it to turn into that type of game. Maybe Washington surprised me. I don't really like Johan Johnson down there too.
Oh yeah, yeah, I love this buck. But number two for now. And he's playing in a shootout game against Detroit in Detroit in the dome. Like I kind of love that. I wanted to mention the common non-guy is good to go. Looks like okay. So that's a change. That's a surprise. You could go there. Does this look about right to you? I've got him below like Chris Rodriguez, Kenny Gainwell, Ty J Spears, the Carolina running backs, Courtland Sun, below all those guys against Carolina. Just don't know how how healthy he is. How much they're wanting to do the ball. That's safe based on what we just don't know right now for him. I think that's safe. I would probably start like the rookie receivers ahead of him even like Casey Konsepcion. I think I would rather start. Yeah, I'd start Casey over a lot of these guys personally. Carnell Tade, I think I would rather start. So would you start those guys ahead of like the Carolina backs? Are you're really into receivers at Flex? I am really into receivers at Flex and half in full PPR. I just always tried to fill my I believe over time. You're definitely better off filling your Flex in PPR leagues with receivers. But I guess you're right. There's more safety with
some of these backs. I don't want to overdo it. I feel like some of these backs that are possibly in shares and in bad offenses with bad games. Those are the ones I want to avoid on a weekly basis. If I can pinpoint those, I think I'm doing a good job. I think I'd be doing a good job of my line-ups. It's helpful to say though. If Brooks is not fully healthy, Hubbard is a much better play. Right. Do you have any thoughts on Alec Pierce? Are you just waiting and seeing here? Wait and see. For sure with Pierce. I want to see how healthy is in a real game. Yeah, that's fair. Alec Pierce or Menongai? Do you know what I mean? Do you have a relative conference in Menongai over him? No. I wouldn't say so. What about BTJ? Obviously, we've talked a lot about the beginning of the season schedule. How can you trust BTJ? Now we're here and he's got Cleveland and Week 1. Where do you think he fits into people's flux considerations? Are you starting him over Chris Rodriguez? Are you starting him over Jonathan Brooks? Are you starting him
over JK Dobbins? Maybe. It's tough to say. These are the tough calls. Not coinfully. Are you starting him over Michael Mayer? Are you starting him over Isaiah? Yeah. Not likely, but Mayer. I probably generally feel more confident than you do in BTJ despite a bad matchup corner wise. I think outside of that, I'll probably put forward over the specific matchup more importantly to me at least unless it's like Certan or some of these actual shutdown guys. I'm not saying I'm trying to say what it is or whatever it may be, is the game script and the actual chances of a team scoring a lot of points. I think Jackson was a good chance to score on Cleveland and Week 1 and have a really good game script the entire way to be in scoring position. I'm probably a little higher on BTJ season long and in this game. Okay, let's get to some chat questions. Yeah. Good, good to go. Flex questions from the chat. I believe producer Emma's got some cute up for us. Here we go.
Purtie or Willis, do you have any thoughts on that? I did a quarterback show already, so y'all can find, I did like a bunch of historical analysis on every quarterback and like how they performed in similar game environments in terms of Vegas expectations. I think it's Willis for me. I got them ranked pretty similarly. Do you have any thoughts on this one? It's Willis for me and I'm struggling. I have a couple of leagues with Purtie. I'm struggling to start him in general this week. I think you kind of put it in my head like what if the Rams just overwhelm the heck out of this 49ers offense line that's been trending downward in general over the last few seasons didn't do all that much to improve it. This off season saw I'm a little bit worried in general about the 49ers offense. It could look a little bit like the two offense we saw last night. Got another, got a tight end question here and then we're going to get to Flex ones after this. So it's Mark Andrews or pick up Joanne Johnson. I would just rather have Joanne Johnson anyway. I think it seems me too at this point. I'm getting high on Johnson. His season long outlook is better and that could be wrong. Maybe they're both the number two target on their team in one of
them plays for the Ravens and Lamar Jackson the other one plays for the Saints. But I think Joanne Johnson has more juice. We saw that last year really make some fantastic plays and I also don't know that Mark Andrews is the number two target that might seem crazy but I think that they've got some receivers they like more this year and they might spread it around a little bit more. I also think that we could have a really fun shoot out here against the Lions and week one. Have you thought about how your Sunday is going to look in terms of what you're focusing on and the noon slate and stuff like that because like we got freaking bills Texans at noon which is crazy. That feels like it should be like at least after noon if not Sunday night. And so I want to watch that one but that might be one I have to just kind of wait and rewatch you know because that just is like such a fun like every single play you want to watch and see how these two are attacking each other. And then like more entertaining like I think red zone type setup games are like the freaking Chuck versus golf thing might go back and forth and I think that could really fun if Chuck plays well. And then obviously Baker versus Burrow like have you thought about it at all?
Are you looking forward to week one yet? I'm so looking forward to week one. I just can't wait for I mean the best part for me Jacob is if we're going to talk about this anecdotally and how it impacts us the giants aren't playing until Sunday night so I get to just not because that really takes up my time and I get to focus on all the other games and obviously what we do here beyond the box are for those who don't know and are new to the show after the games are all done Sunday night into Monday morning and day Jacob and I are watching either the condensed version or the all 22 version of all the games because we have access to that here thankfully and I really appreciate our employers for that. So we're going to get a chance to see everything which I'm excited to just I like I love the post week one you and I watch the day and then come up with our observations it's a be some over reactions of course that's what week one is about but some of the things you just miss by just watching the box score even red zone that you see when you watch the film as far as the role the scheme and how these players look. Yeah so again I will have Titan rankings show out on Friday and I do have to want Johnson over Andrews this week although it could be a good game for
Andrews against the colds for sure that's another game that could go back and forth. Is it Johnson for Andrews over Andrews for you? Yeah Johnson for sure. Okay I'm picking you up K dot and my Titan premium leaks and starting him over to the flex ready to be roasted how to feel about that. I don't love it but I don't hate it either like these are flex decisions these are can go there's like like we're going to do our best to give you but we know fantasy these could go either way. So if you get a feel for it go for it in my mind. Bengals have been super super against Titan yeah to the Titan position and so if he gets three four catches like an A Titan premium leak just right away that's six points or whatever. I don't know where two things gonna be this week. I hope for a good week. I think that there's a chance that they might really try to get him going and like this is their best spot to do it because it's it's Cleveland and I just don't know if the office is frequently when it's gonna pose much of a threat to them but yeah it could it could be a bad game for two and for sure. I would start two and for what it's worth over out and definitely but I could see it if you just want the floor play.
Trey Tucker or Jonathan Brooks for Flex that's an interesting one. I obviously we don't know where Brooks is going to be but assuming we're just heading into the week as we are now and there's not any real clarity they're just like yeah he's he's soon up but is growing sore. Where are you at Dan? Uh boy. Was that or John's oh Jonathan Brooks this will speed that's my guess. I'm Tucker okay I feel bad. I mean I I mean these ones are tough for me. I'm gonna be honest Jacob when we get to this we always do this on the mail bag show too it's like you can give you advice but this is a this is a coin flip type situation for sure. I think Tucker's probably the better play though no bowers maybe he'll get more of a volume roll. Brooks is injured that's like and it's a bad game script and I think Miami's secondary might be the worst in the league right so just play the matchup yeah I think that's very like I I like the idea of Carolina putting some points on the board and Brooks being a big part of that but I we just don't know where is like Trey Tucker pretty feel pretty good about what is the role is going to be obviously we don't know for
sure but I think he's a opera seeker based off the way they've talked about him and the preseason everything it seems like he's locked in and then like he said take bowers out that's a huge target share change that like that's a massive massive change he was probably gonna have 30% of the targets you know no it could be 35% like that's a huge huge change I would probably go to Trey Tucker I think he's a decent flex this week full PPR flex Jeremiah love or Roma doons a that's a really interesting one yeah I think I would go with love. Caroline is corner is our love dude it is full PPR yeah I think I would go with love you go with love. Got a pick two in a do you know what this means 12 by nine PPR don't see I have no idea 12 teams I don't know what that means either um PPR breeze Luther Burton Teter Mcmillan also have Quentin Johnson so you're picking two from this group before Luther is at the top for me full PPR it would be Luther and Teter Mcmillan
Teter Mcmillan is actually at the top for me I think it's Luther and T Mac as well okay we are pretty excited for QJ though yeah he was in the court for me full PPR pick three Brian Thomas Jr. Marvin Harris and Jr. Rashad White Xavier worthy Dejon Stribling or Juan Dale I think you got to go with Juan Dale with Marvin and then it's like do you want to go BTJ or Stribling I think is your decision here BDJ for me oh man I think that's right Godspeed yeah we don't know the roles yet yeah I've got Brian Thomas Jr. ahead of Stribling yeah I think that's the right decision and Swift Montgomery or Luther Burton Affleck's in full PPR with half point per first time Rush Burton Burton oh never mind Swift yeah with that format Swift full PPR
Burton or Parker Washington if Loveland is my Titan are you still go Burton both bears yeah bears the bears attack bears offense all year bears attack we're here we've got a projected shootout we'll see it could be a gross game I still think it could be nasty that's true okay I think we already answered this one if you missed it you do but I think we're both fine with Quorum oh since we don't know what the status is gonna be with Odunzay I actually I think I would just start Parker Washington it's Odunzay out G or Quorum or Parker Washington I would start Parker Washington gotta be Parker yeah yeah yeah yeah Stribbling for life the people are excited I hope so man it would be fun dance day one Stribling guy here Dan was a big I mean you were you were drafting Stribling with confidence I'm pretty sure at one point audience early on you had your like yeah Stribling's like a round one pick for me at dynasty draft sounds like what was yeah I took him like seventh overall like days after the draft seven very the overall obviously didn't know like I hope it pays off
yeah actually his good he looked pretty good in preseason yeah I just thought his tape was much better than people thought and he fits the scheme perfectly I mean I made the case earlier on this show months ago but yeah so here's a good one Jordan Mason or Christian Watson for you I think you have to go Watson here as much as I like Mason just for the possibility that the role is how it was at the end of last year with Watson yeah yeah that's fair I I love Mason and I think he's gonna have a pretty meaningful role but there is downside with a player like that even though yeah it's kind of like judge kids it's a lot like judge guns like the role like if you expect to have a lot of touches but so like much of it's coming on the ground that if you know touchdown no big play and he doesn't get any other catches and it's like oh he got I think he's less likely to get a big play than judge against the game but I just think he's going to be in scoring position a lot more than judge kids I just my my whole thing with Mason is the belief in the Vikings offense Kyler Murray is going to decide a lot of seasons for me I have him in the lot of leagues in
Superflex and I have Mason and a lot of leagues and a bunch of Addison too so we'll see if Kyler still the old Kyler I am screwed. Judkins or Luther it's clearly Luther for me Marvin Harrison Jr. Jordan Mason I'm going Mason that's really close yeah 1.5 PPR is that right if it's 1.5 PPR I'm going Harrison yeah I think that's right to a wild league and you imagine playing in a league 1.5 I know what are we doing here? Tune coaker or read I'm going with Tune I love the other two but I do feel a little bit better about Tune who I think his projected touch totals like yeah gonna be 12 to 18 yeah he'll probably have 10 12 14 touches whereas the other guys will probably have like four or six or something coaker might have two I love coaker to death but man I think you got to go to nanny could give you a big play to him all right good stuff how you feeling heading to week one Danny feeling good about your teams feeling good about your team
feeling very good about my teams how could you not be that's how it goes in week one the hope his hope springs eternal with all their takes I would say how could you not be you could have freaking Brock Bowers on every team you have a Bowers on one team for sure I got to see you direct his about the power situation I mean but besides that I'm feeling good I'm feeling yeah trade Tucker or Joanne Johnson how you feel about that one John just one yeah I've it trade Tucker though I gotta think more about this trade Tucker could have a I mean that's it's a great spot you can ask for a better spot than Miami with no Brock Bowers and week one yeah like in my mind of talent Joanne but I think I might need to think about this more because he probably needs to move up I'm curious if Vegas got moved down in their like implied totals and stuff it doesn't really look like it there's still three point favorites 21 and at 21.25 points is their implied totals that's like above Denver for week one all right yeah I think trade Tucker's a pretty dang good flex all update my rankings and send them out in the newsletter for sure so keep an eye
