Who is the first person that we find davening in the Torah?
And the answer is Avramavino.
And who did he daven for?
Not for himself, not for his family.
He davened for the people of Sadaim.
Avramavino begged and he pleaded for the people of Sadaim.
Hashem would not be right to destroy the righteous together with the wicked.
He prayed an unprecedented number of thilas.
Ula Yash Khamishan Sadikam,
There are 50 righteous people left in the city.
Safe Sadaim on their behalf.
Avram negotiated, he pleaded, he argued.
Maybe there are 40 Sadikam, maybe 30, maybe 20, maybe 10.
He pulled out every last argument, every last trick in the book.
Avram went all out for the people of Sadaim.
He didn't put down his Tehilla.
Avram loved people and he could not bear the thought of human being suffering.
At the Brisbane Absalom,
Hashem tells Avram that his children will be strangers in a strange land
and they will be enslaved and afflicted and tortured for 400 years.
And Avram is silent.
Why didn't Avram say,
Why does it have to be 400 years?
Wouldn't 200 years be enough?
Why must they be enslaved and afflicted?
Isn't slavery enough?
Isn't suffering enough?
So the Avni-Nazer says something so profound.
Avram Avino understood that for the Eden to become special,
for Kali is short to become the Amanevha,
they would have to endure trials and tribulations.
Becoming the chosen nation is not instantaneous.
Avram knew that for Kali is short
to receive the Torah,
they had to pass through the horrors and the crucible of Mithraim.
They needed refinement.
They needed purification.
They needed 400 years of cleansing.
Just as gold must be placed in the fire to burn away the filth,
leaving only pure gold,
so too the Jewish people had to endure challenges
in order to emerge refined.
Avram did not subject any other nation that is processed.
Because he saw our potential.
He knew that only the Jewish people could accept an uphold the Torah.
And that is why Avram did not negotiate.
Not because he lacked compassion,
but because he understood destiny.
Likewise, when Hashem sees potential in a person
and he wants them to grow,
He places them into difficult situations
so they can strengthen their Amuna
and emerge greater than before.
Recently, during a class at the Bain-Isha-Bain,
Akhav Shabis, a woman asked me a heartbreaking question.
Why is Hashem putting me through so many tsarists?
I am not strong enough.
I am not built for this challenge.
I told her I remember seeing an interview with an Israeli woman
who had endured unimaginable trauma.
She just lost the son in Gaza.
She was impoverished.
where do you find this strength to go on?
How are you able to remain so positive?
And she said something so powerful.
I didn't choose this.
I was chosen to live with Amuna.
I was chosen to be the model of a serious nephage
so that others can look at me
and draw strength in their time of need.
There is a famous saying,
a person doesn't choose the moment.
The moment chooses the person.
The moment chooses the one who is most qualified.
We don't always get a say.
He knows who's strong enough.
He knows who's worthy.
He knows who can carry the mission.
To be the Ramavino of our generation.
To be the model for this dark.
To be refined by the fire
and emerge as pure gold.
Have a wonderful day.
