Let me go. He's going to go. I run to the 50. One and a beat. So the leader touched out chargers. He's back to fast. He's back to the backfield. Back to again. Drake Badger. On the sack, receives it at the charger. Ten he has to roam in a burstus beam. Make a long miss at the 15. 30. 20. 15. 10. Touchdown chargers. McCurdened the gun. It's not a game. It's not thrown to Rody. It's caught at the 45. He's to the 40. 35. 30. 20. 10. Touchdown. Chargers. On Radio Free Hillsdale. 101.7 FM starts now.

1:04Welcome in to Frank Muddywater Stadium on the beautiful campus of Hillsdale College. I'm Ted Faringer alongside me, Joe Van Cadford. Week two of the Hillsdale College Chargers. I'm going to play at the 12.20, 26 football season before we get into pregame analysis. It's the national anthem. And a beautiful national anthem there. Man, you can feel the excitement here at Frank Muddywater Stadium for a week to match up between the Warriors of Wayne State and the Chargers of Hillsdale College. So much momentum surrounding this team. I think this is my fourth year as a Hillsdale student. This is the best Chargers squad I've seen and it all revolves around number one.

2:05Shay Rody just last week became the GMAC's all-time leader and kickoff return yardage with a 96 yard return for a touchdown against McKinsey. Look for more of the same out of him. The Chargers were the dominant win last week against McKinsey as Joe mentioned 55-24 victory there. Now the Wayne State Warriors come in to today's match up. Owen won with a tough loss last week against Northwood 52 to nothing. So they're looking to rebound in the 20-26 season at week two. They've got a new coach. They're going to have a quarterback who did not start last week after an injury to their starting quarterback Ethan Lane. So we have one squad on one side. We've got the Chargers who are really thriving right now in the Wayne State Warriors who are trying to get the first win of their 20-26 season with their new head coach.

3:05So a lot of questions to be answered today. And the main one really is going to be here on kickoff if the Chargers receive if Shay Rody can run it back like he did last week. Just an unbelievable playmaker. As I mentioned last week, the kid just reminds me of Christian McCaffer. He moves a lot like him. They've had NFL scouts in at practice. The likes of the Browns, the Lions, the Steelers. I mean, many regard him as the best special teams slash wide receiver in all of the two. And with a good season, the rumors are that maybe with another year of eligibility, he could transfer to a bigger D1 school, make a name for himself. I don't know. We'll see what happens. It's not. Kill still has a history with this. I mean, Isaac Tislah is now a starting receiver at the Detroit Lions.

4:08So man, the School of Dr. Larry Arn, both excelling in academics and athletics. Well, we will see what happens here. The Chargers are receiving already standing back deep at his own five Jonathan Metzger standing to his left. Wayne State going to kick this one away. As they line up at their own 30. We'll see how they play this here. If they squib kick it. We'll see what happens here. I think they go away from number one. So it's going to be a short kick fielded by O'Brien at the 21 and outcomes. Colin McCurden and company to start off this ballgame. Colin McCurden is senior out of Brighton, Michigan. A couple of touchdown passes and really showed some nice mobility as well.

5:11Last week they were rotating quarterbacks between him and Eli Boyce. But McCurden will get the nod here to start off the ballgame. Dead. I'm keeping an eye on number 20 today. Ben Gishu. Wayne State gave up almost 300 yards rushing on the ground last week. Ben broke two big ones against McHendry. I want to see them feed him a lot today. Ben and Gishu is coming off of a career game last week, 12 rushing yards. First down in ten. Chargers have thrown 25. Play action. McCurden. Back to pass. Looking for Gishu at the 35. And he stumbles down at the 43 yard line. Ted and he stays on his feet. If he gets a better ball, that's gone. That's a touchdown. He's going to get a better ball. He's going to get a better ball. Right away just a coverage bust from the Warriors and its first down in ten for the Chargers at their own 42. He'll still taking their time now, huddling at the 38 yard line.

6:11Now they come up. McCurden in the gun. Ruddy in the backfield with him. Gishu to his right. Now Ruddy motions out. Two tight ends in the game and slow come in Kinesni. Gishu up the gut and he gets to the 44 yard line. A lot of misdirection there. You got two tight ends. You had a motion from Ruddy out of the backfield. Plus Kiroko at the far side. So just a lot happening there for a little dive to the left. Everywhere Shay Ruddy goes on the field. Wayne State's got at least two sets of eyes on him. We got a man coverage and a safety over the top following him around. Second down in eight. Ball at the Charger 44. McCurden running right. He gets a nice block and then tackled down at the 44 yard line. Nice pursuit there. From the Warrior line backer core. It's going to set up a third down in long. For more substitutions now as Stanton checks out.

7:11Medsker checks in. Chargers taking their time at a huddle. Standing at their own 40. 13, 27 left in the first quarter. Hillsdale zero. Wayne State zero. McCurden in the gunning. He shoots to his right. Ruddy and Medsker to the near side. Kiroko to the far. McCurden back to pass looking towards Kiroko. And it's caught for a first down and into Warrior Territory at the 43 yard line. To great high point catch by Kiroko. Great separation on the comeback. Shay Ruddy gets a lot of the hype. But Tuck Kiroko is also a talented athlete. May I add student athlete from what I've heard in the classroom. Just an unbelievable student as well. So first down and 10. Chargers at the Warrior 43. 12, 30 left in the first quarter. McCurden in the gunning. He shoots to his left. McCurden looking right. He's got one on one coverage down the field.

8:13And it's caught by Stanton. It's a 15 yard line. What a catch by number 15. Luke Stanton. One on one coverage on the outside. Just goes up and gets it. Luke Stanton showing off that agrobatic ability there. Really talented junior for the Chargers who's been dealing with some injuries the past two years and the coaches have really wanted him to get going. In his junior year and he showed it there. First down and 10. Chargers at the Warrior 16. McCurden in the gunning. He shoots to his right. Ruddy to the near side. Kiroko and Stanton to the far. Balls at the Warrior 16. McCurden running right. He has some space. And hit out a bounce. At the seven yard line. Again, another misdirection overload to the left. Ruddy motions to the left. And then run to the right. Inkishu is a lead blocker. Works like perfection. With how much attention she's getting all over the field.

9:16These other guys on Hillsdale are going to have a lot of room. A lot of one on one opportunities. So far they're making the most of it. Second down and two. Chargers at the Warrior 8. Inkishu to McCurden's left. Ruddy to the near. Kiroko to the far. Gives you inkishu running right. Touchdown. Chargers. Dominance there from the offensive line. In Hillsdale tross. First one. It's about as good of a first drive as you can draw up Ted. It went exactly how they hoped it would. Now let's see what they can do on defense. Inkishu getting some redemption after stumbling down on the first play of the game. And would have likely had been it's touchdown. Great run there. And he keeps that momentum going from the last week's performance. Childs to kick. Skirtle holds. Snap is good. Kick is up. And it's good. Hillsdale 7. Wayne State nothing. 11:20Welcome back to Frank Buddywater Stadium on the campus of Hillsdale College. I'm Ted Faradger alongside me's Joe Van Cat. Hillsdale leads Wayne State 7 to nothing. 11-15 left in the first quarter. And at first drive of the game for the chargers they bring a lot of momentum from last week's win over McHendry. It's just bread and butter. About 50% past 50% run and just complete dominance from the offensive line. And now we are going to see Carson Creehan. And this Wayne State offense for their first drive of the ballgame. They're going to have good field position to start this drive after the kickoff went out of bounds. So first and 10 for the Warriors at their own 30 start in the Wildcat. It's a wildcat as Creehan motions out to the left. And I'm struggling finding the running backs name. Joe will help me with that.

12:20They changed a bunch of jerseys before the game started. So now I will be fumbling with some names. Joe can help me with that second down in three Warriors at their own 42 10-45 left in the first quarter. Creehan in the gun. Back to pass. Four receivers in the game. Two to the far side, two to the near first down in 10. Nice pitch and catch there for Wayne State gets out to the 48 yard line. Click out route by Jordan Bell. Takes up three, four yards. Too much cushion by the Hillsdale defensive back. Jordan Bell, wide receiver six, 282 pound red shirt. Juniors their best receiver on the team. First down in 10 for the Warriors at their own 48. Creehan in the gun. It's a give up the middle. A little bit of a miscommunication on the handoff there. Running back, tried to take it. Quarterback, tried to keep it. Turns into a loss of one. Creehan tried to pull and run, but Bell just kept the ball.

13:25So now second down in 11. Ball at the Wayne State 47. Creehan in the gun. Jefferson to his right, two receivers to the far side, two to the near. There's more miscommunication on the field right now between two of the far side receivers. And it's going to turn into a Wayne State timeout. The hate coach for Wayne State is not happy about that one. Boy oh boy, is there not a better time in all of America than college football in September? They came tonight between Ohio State and Texas at Texas. Who you taking, Joe? You know, I hate to say it as a big 10 guy, but I think I got Texas in this one. After the way it ended last year, I think they just, they need this one. So we will see what the environment is like in Austin for that game. I'd also like to see Texas win just because I do not like Ohio State, the Ohio State University.

14:32Another game, four of the six winningest programs in FBS history, two of them are Ann Arbor, two of them are in Austin. We'll talk about the other matchup at another timeout. But so right now it's D2 football. So here we go, second down in 11 for the Warriors at their own 47. Creeing back to pass and he floats this one out of bounds pressured on the play. Multiple men in there, Jacob Vance, Hudson Jones. Now it's a third down in 11. Charge your defense, although giving up one first down is going to try to hold strong here and get the ball back to that offence that can do no wrong so far. Third down in 11. Warriors at their own 47, 934 left in the first quarter. Hillsdale 7, Wayne State, nothing. Obviously passing down here, I'd like to see Drake Badger get after the quarterback. Creeing in the gun, Jefferson, two of his rights, two of his heroes to the far, two to the near. Creeing back to pass, floats it down field.

15:33Ryan Nixon in coverage. And the far side on teams it, unketchable. So the Warriors going to have to come out and punt. It's a little bit of contact on that on that play. But like the like the umpire said, the balls too far out of bounds. They're not catching that ball. No flag. So on comes the Wayne State Warriors to punt this one away to the GMAC phenom. Shay Ruddy, Ruddy standing at his own 15 yard line. Hillsdale's lined up, they're coming after the punter. I'm going to try to block this one. Chargers are coming after it. It's a decent punt. Ruddy's going to field it at his own 10. Shimmies past one guy, jumps past two more and gets up to the 16 yard line. That's only seven or eight yards on the return, but that's an impressive seven or eight. May two men miss, broke a tackle, took two or three guys to bring him down. Seven yards out of nothing.

16:33Shay Ruddy, Ruddy makes it a starting field position at the 17 yard line, which is better than what the alternative was, which you would have been about the nine. We're back in the game, Eli Boyce and Keeshu in the far two to the near first down in 10. Chargers are throwing 17. Give to Enkeeshu running right. Nice bird. Enkeeshu is going to get past the 20 to the 20. The one thing about this Charger team. Enkees 26, he's in team. It's only in depth in a lot of skill positions in the quarterback position. Really good quarterbacks. The running back position. We have Blake Hayward now checking into the game. Boyce in the gun. Second down in five. Chargers are throwing 22. Boyce running left. It's a QB power all the way.

17:35That's a nice plot room. And sprinting out across the 31 yard line. Ruddy with some nice blocking out on the edge. And that'll move the chains. Now more substitution. Blake Hayward checks out. Skurra checks in. Ryan Skurra will see if he can get some production this weekend. Excellent wide receiver at a Zyne'sville, Indiana's wide receiver coach was T.Y. Hilton. First down in 10. Chargers at their own 33, eight minutes left in the first quarter to give. Running right. And the chargers get out to the 39 yard line from Ulan on the run. We're seeing a lot of substitutions and rotations here trying to keep the boys healthy. Especially at the running back position. Ted tells me they're going to be pounded in this rock. 738 left in the first quarter.

18:37Second down in four for the chargers at their own 39. Boyce in the gun. Hayward to his right. Ruddy to the nearest side. Skurra to the far. Motion from Ruddy from right to left. Boyce back to pass looking towards Ruddy. Now he's going to fire it towards Skurra for our first down at midfield. There's some of that arm talent from the dual threat quarter back and it's a beautiful first down for the chargers. Hillsdale's really taken advantage of this single coverage outside. They're creating a lot of great separation. Great throw by boys. So now the chargers taking their time huddling at the 45. Now they break. Orstown in ten at midfield. 652 left. First quarter. Hillsdale's seven. Wayne's state nothing. Boyce in the gun. Hayward to his right. Carrick go to the near. Ruddy to the far. Boyce looking left. Now right. Finds Ruddy. And Ruddy. Hit down at the 42 yard line. About an eight yard gain on first in ten.

19:38I'll take that all day. Keeps that playbook nice and open. Stay in ahead of those chains. And there has not been a defensive line from the warrior side getting into the backfield at all. Boyce has all day to throw. Second down into chargers at the warrior 42. Boyce in the gun. Vermulent to his left. It's a gift to Vermulent running right. Makes a nice cut. And that's enough for a first down down to the 36 yard line. Carrick go checks in. And who can asni checks out. And Ruddy checks in for. Metzger. Man. Already ten minutes gone in the first quarter. That's what happens when. You run the ball a lot and own the line of scrimmage.

20:40First down in ten for the chargers. That's that. Warrior 36. Boyce in the gun. Vermulent to his right. Ready to the near side. Carrick go to the far. Boyce back to pass. Looking across the middle. Why open man down the middle. God. By canesni all the way down to the warrior 15. Boyce had. Four open receivers. Canesni was open across. The middle stand was open at the far side. Ruddy was open on an out breaking round. Good decision from the sophomore from Holland. Michigan. And it's our first down for the chargers. He looks very comfortable in the pocket. He's got all day to throw. This offensive line is doing a great job holding the Warriors back. Boyce in the gun and geese you to his left. Metzger and Ruddy to the far side. Carrick go to the near. Chargers at the warrior 13. Give to and geese you running right. He's keeps up and. Tied for a touchdown. It looked like he was going nowhere. Bounced it out to the right side.

21:41And chargers lead. Wayne state 13 to nothing. Great patience on that run. He ran into the defensive line. There's nowhere to go. Bounced it outside. Crayism's base. Burst the speed to the corner. In geese you said he looks up to Lavion Bell. And he looked like Lavion on that play. So Braden Shiles to make it 14 and nothing. Skirt a hold. Good hold. If however we were talking about their toys, then both names would require an apostrophe S since each of them has their own toys. In short, if they're sharing, they share an apostrophe too. 23:47The 51, 10 yard penalty for sound. Wayne State is going to lose some field position without blocking the back on the return. That will bring them back to about the 10 yard line. For 27 left in the first quarter, Hillsdale leads Wayne State 14 to nothing. It's been chargers on all three phases of the ball game. Those those own the line of scrimmage in this game so far. Wayne State hasn't been able to get anything going on the ground. But I'd like to see them get some more of those short outrout passes going. We've got plenty of cushion on the outside. First down in 10 for the Warriors at their own 12th Korean in the gun. Gifty Gary Jefferson running right. He has a plenty of space. And he gets the first down out to the 24 yard line. He got outside of those tackles and it's a first down for the Warriors. Wayne State taking their time huddling at the 20 yard line.

24:53First down in 10 for the Warriors at their own 25 Korean in the gun. Jefferson to his left to receivers to the near side. One of the far. It's a gift to Jefferson running right looking for the edge again. And he bounces it up to the line of scrimmage. Navating three potential tacklers for a loss of about three. Great something out of nothing and gets about half a yard again on that play to bring up second down in nine. The charger containment there was excellent. Drake Badger Hudson Jones. Panola really did a really nice job of corralling Jefferson in second down in nine. Wayne State at their own 26 Korean in the gun. Jefferson to his right to receivers to the near side to the far. Blitz shown from Moro. It's a gift to Jefferson and he stumbles forward to 29 yard line. I think that was supposed to be a read option in Korean just game for the ball to Jefferson before Moro.

25:59Moro could have gotten in on the tackle for loss. Mark play from the sophomore. If you could have stayed on his feet, he did have a nice hold there. This offensive line has looked a lot better on this drive. Third down in six Warriors at their own 29 Korean in the gun. Jefferson to his right to receivers to the far side to the near. Korean back to pass looking left. He's got an open man and out across the 40 yard line for a first down late in Scott in on the coverage. But a nice pitch and catch there. Robinson with a great grab and that's a huge conversion to great throw by Korean pressure in his face stood in there took a shot deliver strike. First down in 10 for the Warriors at their own 41 Hillsdale 14 Wayne State nothing. Korean in the gun Jefferson to his left. One receiver to the far side to the near gives a Jefferson running right and he gets hit at the line of scrimmage.

27:00Check that that was Devon Bentley on the play. So we've got some new names rotating in it running back. Bentley, I congratulate this massive level student out of Detroit Michigan. Jefferson was getting out of the way. So we'll see if the Warriors can tap into some depth here. To get into this ballgame Hillsdale 14 Wayne State nothing one 30 left in the first quarter Korean in the gun. Bentley to his right one receiver to the far side three to the near. It's a screen pass to Bell on the near side and he's immediately hit down by late in Scott and calling more row at the 45 yard line. That's going to bring up another third down in medium here. So we'll see if the defense of this Hillsdale squad can get another stop and get the ball back into the offense.

28:0058 seconds left in counting in the first quarter Korean in the gun Bentley to his right to receiver to the far side two to the near. I got single coverage up top. Third down and five late in Scott and single coverage at the far side. Blitz from Oro. No, he's going to drop into coverage. Korean scrambling for his life and throws it out about right defensive stand there from the Jargers Hudson Jones. Jalen in Jory. Genovied in on pressuring the quarterback and cream just had to throw it away. Great pursuit by that defensive line. He shook the first one got out of the pocket and they came after him. Fourth down and five for the Warriors. They're going to pump this one away. 38 seconds left in the first quarter. Warriors that throw on 45. Ruti. Back deep waiting for this one at his own 17. A decent punt fielded by Ruti at his 20.

29:01A Vade's one man. Now he's running left. He's to the 20. 25-30. Has the first to speed to midfield. One man to beat is the kicker. And he's finally tackled at the 18 yard line but there's a penalty marker at the 34 yard line. This one's going to come back. Probably looks like a block in the back. What a great return by Ruti though. Ruti was at the near side at the 20 yard line of Vade's one potential tackler and runs all the way to the far side of the field. My goodness every time he touches the ball he's so dangerous. But that will be erased off the board and you can tell Ruti is frustrated with that one. Man, Shay Ruti is a dynamic playmaker in division 2. Despite the fact that it's not going to go into the stats he should put that one on film.

30:0620 seconds left in the first quarter. McCurden undercenters first down in 10 for the chargers that throw on 25. It's a pitch to Inquisue running right and he's going to get back to the line as scrimmage. So that might be the last play of the first quarter. And so far it's just Van Charger dominance on all three phases of the ballgame so far. And we will see if that one was the Chargers can add on to this 14-nothing lead over the Wednesday Warriors. McCurden and the gun first down in 10 for the Chargers at the Warrior 41. McCurden running left has a nice lane to run through and gets out to the 26 yard line. It's a great lead block by Connor Remielin on that play. Took the defensive back completely out of the play, created a great lane for McCurden to run through. More substitutions for the Chargers. Jonathan Metzger checks out. And Andrew Kinesni checks in.

33:1213-49 left in the second quarter. McCurden and the gun he shoots to his left, scored on the other side. Rabado to the far. Two tightens in the game and Kinesni and Slokum play action. McCurden looking for Rabado and it's incomplete. Really nice throw there from McCurden just firing it in between two defenders. But Rabado could not come up with a catch. So now it's second down in 10. Chargers at the Warrior 26. He'll still 14. Wayne State nothing. Some out of town scores regarding the GMAC. Northwood leads Saginaw Valley State 7 and Northwood defeated. Wayne State last week 52 nothing. Second down in 10. McCurden back to pass. He's out one defender.

34:12Lobs it towards the end zone and it's incomplete. Intended for Carico with the goal line. And Carico looking for an interference flag. But none comes. So now it's third down in 10. It's a great move to avoid the defensive lineman who broke through by McCurden. But he had to make the throw without setting his feet. If he could have got his feet underneath him and led Carico to the corner of the end zone. McCurden and Eli Boyster, the two corner backs. Boyz gets a lot of the dual threat hype. But McCurden is also really going with his legs as well. Third down in 10. Chargers at the Warrior 36. It's a QB power to the right. McCurden gets to the outside and he'll be forced out at the 24 yard line. That play call really tells me they're going to go for it on fourth down. If you're going to run it on third and long, you're seeing if you can make the fourth down a bit. More manageable before dialing up a. I'm assuming a pass on fourth down in about nine and they will go for it.

35:15No sign of the field goal unit. So a slow huddle. Now they break McCurden in the gun and Gisiu to his right. Carico to the near side, ready the far. Carico to the near side of single coverage. Watch for a pass to there. Carico, what on one? He's going there. Way Joe. Carico. I'm. You're a touchdown, Chargers. Took. Carico. Out of Owens, Porno Kittucky. With dominance on that play. That's a great ball by McCurden. Put it right over his shoulder where only his guy could get it. Nothing that defensive back could do. He was in great position. Didn't matter. What a throw from McCurden. And Carico made it look easy. So Braden Shiles on to kick the extra point, Skurr at a hold, Davis to snap. Hold good, kick is up, and it's good. Those Phil, 21, Wayne State, nothing.

36:18You're listening to Charge Your Football right here on Radio Free Hillsdale. Telling the stories of those who have been awarded the Medal of Honor. This is Minute of Honor. Here's Janna Sohita. On February 10th, 1970, in your four-plung Vietnam, specialist John Bacca was setting up an ambush with his unit. When one of the trip wires detonated in the jungle ahead, a platoon was sent to investigate. Soon, they came under intense enemy fire from concealed positions along the trail. As they prepared to engage the enemy, a fragmentation grenade was thrown in the midst of the patrol. Bacca said later at that moment he thought of his mother. He called her only the day before, telling her that he was working in the post office, safe from action on the front lines. But with the lives of his friends hanging in the balance, Bacca acted quickly, with complete disregard for his own safety. Bacca used his steel helmet and his own body to cover the grenade and absorb the lethal fragments. His conspicuous gallantry at the risk of his own life directly saved the lives of eight men. For the extraordinary courage in selflessness he displayed on February 10th, 1970, specialist John Bacca was awarded the Medal of Honor.

On the campus of Hillsdale College, I'm Ted Faradger, alongside me's Joe Van Cat, Dylan Dario to keep this one away. For Hillsdale, it's going to be fielded at the 21 in the Wayne State Warrior, brings it out to the 23 yard line. That was Jefferson on the return, so a decent effort from him. But so far it's been Chargers all the way through. Hillsdale 21, Wayne State Nothing. We're keeping an eye on the Oklahoma Michigan game. That's still not enough at 0-0. Some other scores from around the state, Dayton Leads Town is more 13 to nothing, Finley. Over there, Mount State, seven, nothing. Davenport leading Indianapolis 7, nothing at the end of the first, so we'll keep an eye on that game for you.

38:18Cree and in the gun, first down to 10 for the Warriors at their own 23. And then, the first one from Panola, four receivers to the right, and Cree and getting some pressure in the backfield, and he's sacked on the play. Two flags down in the backfield, up to see what this is, looking like probably holding on the offense, which will be declined. And that's a sack for a freshman, for Hillsdale, Isaiah Coulman, a 6-2-310 pound freshman out of Indiana, and the second game known in the second game of 20-26, with a nice sack from him. Second down in 19-4 Wayne State. They're at their own 14, Cree and in the gun, Jefferson, to his right, two receivers to the near side, two to the far. Blitz shown for Moron, now he backs up, it backs off, it's a gift to Jefferson, running right in the draw play, and he gets tackled by Panola at the 19 yard line.

39:18Boy oh boy, through the first two games of this season, and through much of the 20-25 campaign, Luke Panola and Jake Evans are really just the foundation of this Hillsdale defense. Third down in 13-4 Wayne State, they're at their own 20. Cree and in the gun, Jefferson, to his right, two receivers to the near side, two to the far, 11-52 left. In this second quarter, now Jefferson moves to the left. Cree and looking right now, they're going to play Panola. Panola and a nice throw there from Cree and out to the 32 yard line, Panola nearly, getting his third sack of the year, but Cree and with a nice little side arm, Flang is going to bring up a fourth down and wanted their own 1232, which you go for this. You're down by three touchdowns,

40:18and it's about 11 minutes left in the second quarter. You're down by three touchdowns. You haven't been able to stop them on defense. Why not, Ted? See if you can get this one yard. That's all it is. Fourth down, one, four, the Warriors. That's around 32. It's a high formation, Jefferson in the backfield. Cree and under center. It's a gift of the fullback, and I don't think you got it. He's not going to get it. Near sideline, Judge has them short. The heel still defense is going to get a huge stop. I don't, they're going to give it to him. And they gave it to him. And the crowd does not like that call. I don't think he got it. The near sideline, Judge had him short. Far side came in. Says he has it first down. So first down in 10 for the chargers that are excuse me for the Warriors. At their own 33, Cree and the gun.

41:18Jefferson's who's right, who's the nearest side, two to the far. He'll still 21, Wayne State, nothing. Cree and back to pass, looking right. And a nice grab. Jacob Vance forces them out of bounds. Drew and Hickmont, 6298, pound and sophomore with a nice pitch and catch. He's going to set up a second down in three. Warriors with a little life here on this drive. Cree and the gun, Jefferson's who's right, two receivers on the far side, two to the near. Cree and looking right. And he's going to be sacked. Colin Moro. And Neil Likens, Moro on a blitz from the corner position. And that's going to make it third down in long. It's a great disguise blitz by the linebackers there. If they give him a beat after the snap, and then they came through untouched, nothing Cree and could do. I should have added Colin Moro to that name of Stellar,

42:21charger defenseman. He's out of Jackson, Michigan, the fifth year. Senior has had an excellent start to the season and a phenomenal 2025 year. So third down in nine. Warriors at their own 34 Hill still 21 Wayne State, nothing. Cree and under center, Jefferson in the backfields, who receivers the far side, wanted an air play action. Likens nearly with a sack. And Cree and just going to lob this one out of bounds. Cree and absolutely got smoked on the play by Jacob Vance. And now with a fourth and nine, I would have to believe that the Warriors are going to punt this one away. Ready. Back deep to receive at the 25 yard line. It hasn't turned into points, but I've liked what I'm saying out of Crandit that he's standing in the pocket. He's taking a lot of hits, but he's made some good throws.

43:22It is his first start for the Warriors, and so far he's standing strong. So ready. Back deep to receive this punt. So low punts going to bounce up the 35 and trickle down to the 20 and ready just hops on it at the 20 yard line. Okay, Joe takes Texas over Ohio State. I will also take Texas now. Oklahoma Michigan is happening right now. And I believe it's still zero zero. Michigan after a controversial win last week against Western Michigan. I was watching the game. The fire alarm went off. I went back in, turned the TV back on and could not believe what had happened. First down in 10 for the chargers of the round 20. It's a little trickeration from the chargers. And Kiroko is going to level a man at the 31 yard line in Indoorown all the way out to the 33,

44:24but there's a flag lying at the... This one's coming back. We're going to have a block in the back by the outside receiver. Luke Stanton is going to be the guilty party, but chargers are diving into this playbook. So instead of a 25 yard game, it's going to only be a three yard game. It's going to be a different matter, nice attack from one to the last. And now the chargers are huddling at their own 20. First down in seven, eight, 55 left in the first half. Motion from right to left. It's a give to Ruddy. He's running right. And he's going to be hit down at the 35 yard line. About a 12 yard game for the native from temperance Michigan. His outside runs are absolutely gashing this Warriors defense.

45:25Seems like every time they're picking up 10-15. Every time Ruddy touches the ball, it seems like it's a guaranteed 10 yards. Reportedly his 40 yard dash is a 4-4. First down in 10 for the chargers at their own 35, eight 15 left in the second quarter. Boys back to pass, surveying his options, throws to Kishu in the flat. Kishu up and over it. Hurtles a man at the 45 yard line. And that was the most acrobatic eight yard pitch in Ted Jopstein in a while. Reminds me of Shay Ruddy from last year, hurtling men looking like their caricatures in Madden. Kishu goes right over the top of Luke Johnson. Johnson wasn't even diving at his feet or anything. He's almost straight up. What a jump. So second down in one for Hillsdale at their own 44,

46:267-41 left in this first half. Hillsdale 21, Wayne State nothing. Boys in the gun, hey, we're to his right, Metzger, and stand to the right. It's a boys' QB power to the outside, and he gets pass midfield and in to Wayne State Territory. And Hillsdale is really diving into the playbook here. They can really do no wrong so far. Everything is working. The run game, the pass game, the special teams game as well. First down in 10 for Hillsdale at their at the Warrior 49, Hillsdale 21, Wayne State nothing. Boys in the gun, hey, we're to his right, to his he was the far side, to the air. Boys looking for stand in complete, bit of a dangerous throw there for the sophomore, QB, Holler on the coverage. And that'll bring up a second down in 10.

47:30Usger, football plays, Bowling Green tonight at 7 o'clock. If you're wondering why you're hearing updates from the Big 10 or you know, some random program out in Lincoln, Nebraska, it's because you have the pleasure and privilege of listening to two kids from Nebraska call a football game in Michigan. So we'll be talking some Husker talk along the way back to D2 football. Boys, little read option with Vermilin. It's going to get a hit down the line of scrimmage to bring up a third down in 10. Unfortunately, last week, I was calling the Hillsdale game. It couldn't really tune into the Nebraska game. But man, these Mac teams are putting up a fight against power four as Toledo put up a fight with Michigan State, Western Michigan, one against Michigan, and Nebraska, handily defeated Ohio, but after a scary three quarters, third down in nine for boys, he's looking like,

48:32Kirikos wide open at the 30, 2015, 10, five, touchdown, Shargers, it's Kirikos second touchdown reception of the game. Busted coverage on the outside here, miscommunication between the DB and the safety on the loose cover and who, and Kirikos wide open down the field for an easy touchdown. It's just too easy for the Kentucky native. He handled that pass like he handled the DAT. He got a 523. It's like the 94th percentile for dental school admissions. Braden Shiles onto attempt the extra point, skirt all the kick is up, and it's good. Hillsdale 28, Wayne State and nothing, 6-03 left. And I am willing to say that Hillsdale looks more dominant today than they did last year. Against McHindry. So we'll see if Carson Creme can get some warrior points on the board before halftime. Creme in the gun. Bentley to his right, to his heavers to the far side, to the near balls at the Warrior 25. Creme back to pass, rolls to his left. I don't know how we got out of that. And he's going to get down to the 34 yard line. I thought the charge here, the defensive line had him dead to rights. Creme with the Houdini job. Wouldn't escape from the pocket. Turns a five yard loss into an eight yard gain. Great play. So we have an injured lineman on the field for Wayne State.

51:37So the athletic trainers will attend to him now. Down. I mean, this is like, who's testing the men? On to some more college football news. Last night, Missouri defeated Kansas in a new kind of rivalry that has been introduced to college football. I say, and it was a great game. It was in Lawrence. Next year, I proposed the week zero game. Should be Missouri against Kansas at Arrowhead Stadium. Would be fabulous. It would be a great game. Honestly, bring back Nebraska, Missouri games. Nebraska Kansas games. I'm glad we're in the big 10 now because, well, if we were in the big 12, I think we would lose some of the power of being as like part of like, you know, one of the main conferences in America. But you do miss out on some of these nice little geographical natural rivalry games,

52:42like the one that I was sharing a large border with Kansas and a little border with Missouri, but Colorado, Oklahoma, all the classic rivals. Some great games back in the day. Today's game is a faculty pre appreciation day celebration. So they'll be dunking a professor at halftime. You have a faculty member you want to shout out. Shout out, Dr. Calvert, history professor, ancient history. Wonderful professor. He does the famous match, the match speech, the match speech. Joe and I will kind of tell you about that. First down pitching catch for the warriors. Nice throw there from Kran out to Jefferson. Nice tackle there too. From Zach Tettler, I must say something that I have seen improved. From the past three years has been the linebacker and secondary tackling for this charger defense.

53:47They keep their heads up, shoot the hips through, and so far through the first two games. It's been pretty great to watch. First down in ten for Wayne State at the wrong 39 to give to Jefferson running right. And he's hit down the line of skirmish. So much momentum surrounding this team as we've mentioned in pre game. Luke Panola noted that last week it was the loudest crowd he's ever heard in their charger win over McHindry. And apparently Panola feeds off the crowd because last week ten tackles in a sack. Great game out of him. So we'll see if this charger crowd can keep inspiring so far in a perfect game basically from Hillsdale. Kran back to pass looking left and it's going to be a nice catch there. Looks like a little bit of a miscommunication by the Hillsdale defense on the outside there.

54:49Quick little out route on the far side was wide open nobody inside if you've been able to turn up to feel that's a big gain. Davis with a nice grab there for the Warriors and it's going to bring up throw down an eight for Wayne State. They're at the Warrior 41 Hillsdale 28 Wayne State nothing. Kran and company trying to put their first points on the board. Kran in the gun. Bentley to his right to receivers the far side one in the air. Panola showing blitz Kran back to pass looking left and the ball falls incomplete and here comes a flag. Now there's a penalty marker that's thrown at the 48 yard line. I don't know about that one the ball seemed unketchable floated across the middle. And a charger secondary member is going to be deemed guilty of holding.

55:50I don't need to say. Andrew McCarthy the guilty party here on the outside. So that's going to be enough for a first down first down in ten for the Warriors at the charger 49. Kran gives to Bentley running right. Bentley with a nice burst of speed all the way down to the charger 28 before being tackled from behind by Moro. And that's a huge gain but there's a penalty marker lying back at the 46 yard line and. And it's a personal foul they're going to lose 15 yards not only wipe out the 20 yard run but they move 15 back. Unfortunate air there from the Warriors who are looking for their first points of the season. Nevertheless that's the first sign of life we've seen from this Warriors offense.

56:51Great play by Bentley. Versus speed through the line make the defensive back miss. Great pick up. Hillsdale 28. Wayne State nothing 336 left in the first half. It's going to be first down in a Walmart parking lot first down in 25 for the Warriors. Kran in the gun. Bentley to his right to Warrior receivers to the nearest side to the far. 310 and counting left in the first half. Blitz shown from Moro now he backs off Kran looking in the flat and a huge hit by Nixah at the 35 yard line. The fifth year senior says no sir on that hit. What a great clean hit from the Ohio native just textbook. And that's going to make it second down in 25.

57:52You have to be very careful about floating passes into the flat. It leaves room for a corner back to come downhill. Kran empty set. He's in the gun. 2 receivers to the far side. 3 to the near. Kran back to pass looking right. He's got a guy in the flat. Calling Moro with the tackle. And short pick up on that one. The great tackle by Moro. Make sure they don't pick up anything else. If he gets past him he's got lots of space. That's going to set up a third down in a long four of the warriors. The Murray. The Murray holler on the grabs. So no. So bring up a third down in 24 to 25 left in the first half. Hillsdale.

58:5228 Wayne state. Nothing. Because of the place you live for as a defensive lineman you can pin your ears back and just go after the quarterback. Watch for Drake. Badger coming off the lead. And she said. And. And we got a delay of game. The lay of game on the warrior offense is going to move back for a third down in 29. And the warriors are moving backwards. So we'll see what they dial up here. The previous formation was quite a bit of receivers and it looks like they're going to keep it empty set to receivers in the near side. Three to the far. No. Time out. Call by the charges. Hilldale. So Hillsdale is going to want to talk about this one. 203 left in the first half. So three seconds until the two minute warning. They call that timeout so they can hold on to the two minute warning. Maybe put some more points on when they get the ball back.

59:53Hilldale 28. Wayne State nothing. We will have to tune into the score here for Michigan Oklahoma. Oh Michigan seven Oklahoma nothing. After the controversy of last week. It looks like the Wolverines are coming out swinging so far. 30 yard touchdown run from Bryce Underwood. There was rumors circulating that his job was not before gone conclusion. But it seems he put up a fight against the 11th ranked Sooners of Oklahoma. So two or three left in the first half. Hilldale 28. Wayne State nothing. In the gun.

1:00:55It's empty sets who was in the near side three to the far. Third down in 29. Wayne State at the charge. Your 32. Cran back to pass. Moves up in the pocket. Pursuit by Panola. And he's sacked at the 26 yard line. He's going to be in the back of the ball. It's another sack of the 2026 season. Boy oh boy, the native out of science bill. He's having himself. A game so far and is great pursuit by pinola out of the line back or position. He stayed in there as a spy for the quarterback. As soon as he escapes the pocket, he took off after him. He's knocked him down. What a play. Great play there from pinola. He's got the 26 left in the first half. Is going to give plenty of time for the chargers to add to their 28 point leads of scores from around the GMAC and division one northwood tied up

1:01:59with Saginaw Valley State seven all the second quarter. Dayton leads Thomas more 13 to seven. Finley leads. Four. Four to three and Davin Port over Indianapolis 13 and nothing, second quarter. Indianapolis going to be joining the GMAC next year, moving out of their former conference just citing long travel times so that'll be a nice addition to the conference Indiana. The down is really a football powerhouse the past couple of years. But talking from some of my friends on the football team, the boys of this charger squad really want to win the GMAC in 2026. The punt is nearly locked. Looks like he might have got a finger on it. Vince Carico might have gotten a finger on this Wayne State punt. And Hillsdale's going to have great field position to start out.

1:03:02We're going to be on Wayne State side of the field looking to tax some more points on the board before we get to half time. Boy, boy, every phase of the game has been all chargers so far. And you're exactly right, Joe. Chargers are going to set up shop at the Warrior 45-146 left. In the first half, Hillsdale 28, Wayne State nothing. The curtain in the Gondon Gisiu to his right, Stanton in Metzger to the far, to give to Gisiu running left and he's hit down at the 46-yard line. Nice tackle there from Max Edwards, who had 11 tackles last week and a sack. Second down and nine chargers, hurrying up the pace. Nice pitching catch. To Ryan Skurra, it's going to get it down to the Warrior 39. Just a little quick out route. Warriors were playing soft and Ryan Skurra the junior with an ice grab to make it fur down

McCurden looking that way. He's going to throw out to Gisiu in the flat and Gisiu is going to get a first down. Alex in the 34-yard line. He really is a versatile back patient runner, downhill runner. Really go with his hands in open space. He's the complete package for a G-Mac running back. One minute left in the first half. I like what I've seen from the outside runs here from Hillsdale. Third and five, you're looking for a pass. You're expecting a pass if you're Wayne State. Nice little draw. Get to the outside with Gisiu or even the quarterback to pick up some nice yards. Get out of bounds. So we'll see if they listen to Joe Tony Romo, Van Cat or if the charges will go a different

1:06:15route. So far Wayne State putting up a good fight. I've been impressed with their quarterback Carson Crean standing in the pop pocket. He's had Hillsdale charger defenders in his face all day and Wayne State trying to stick around to get back in this ballgame. Third down in five for the chargers. That's the Warrior 29. McCurden back to pass. Looking down the middle. He's got stint over the middle. McQueen complete. The junior could not come down with it and that's going to bring up fourth down in five. And Braden Childs the sophomore out of Brighton, Michigan is going to attempt on a 47 yard field goal. This is his first field goal attempt of the year. We'll see what the kid can do. Skirt a hole. Davis to snap.

1:07:16The kick is up and no good. Wide right. But it was a good effort there from Childs on 47 yards. It's got plenty of leg on that. It just needs to get that down the middle. Good kick. And that's good reps to have in these types of games because as the season progresses that's going to be super important. Field goal kicking. After all this you can have a great offensive line, defensive line, quarterback running back in. When it comes down to the wire, you need to have a field goal kicker. Eagles has the arm or the leg strength to do that. 22 seconds left in the first half. He'll still 28 Wayne State nothing. First down in ten for the Warriors at their own 29. Korean in the gun. Bentley to his left. Two receivers to the far side.

1:08:16Two to the near. Korean back to pass. Intended for a Warrior out in the flat in complete. And that'll be a second down in ten. 19 seconds left. Warriors are going to have the ball to start the second half. So if they can come up with something inspirational to take in to half time, get some points on the board. Would be stellar for this Wayne State squad. Second down in ten. Warriors at their own 29. Still to draw play. Gives to Bentley up the gutty to the 45.50. And it brought down at the 47 yard line by Jonah Jensen. And a draw play is going to get Wayne State into charge. It's territory. It's a great play to attack the conservative defense Hillsdale was in. They're sitting back.

1:09:17Don't want to get beat over the top. Give up any big pass. And Wayne say use that against them. They run by Bentley. And with that, another time out from the Warriors to preserve some time to get some points on the board. 11 seconds left in the first half. So we'll see if the Warriors can get a shot to the end zone. Oklahoma still trailing Michigan by a touchdown. That's seven nothing over an Ann Arbor beautiful weather here in South Central Michigan before the sun just says goodbye. And about November. I was doing some research last night where I live in Nebraska, born and raised on the plains, which by the way, Nebraska weather is most similar. Columbus, Nebraska, Eastern part of the state's most similar to Southern Russia.

1:10:19You can believe it or not Hillsdale is a bit more of a Ukrainian temperature. But Columbus, Nebraska gets double the amount of sunshine hours as Hillsdale, Michigan. So here we go. Warriors first down in 10 for them. They're at the charge of 47 with 10 seconds left. Korean back to pass. And he's sacked in the back field by a jury. Say great block shed by a jury. Through the guard right off of them. Free run at the quarterback and Jirogey, rather with a nice play there. And that's going to put the Warriors back a bit. It'll be second down in 18. They're at the Hillsdale 45 and with six seconds left. There's only one more play left. Could Korean throw this 55 yards to the end zone? Looks like that's what they're going to set up for. If you're Hillsdale, you just get your guys back to about the 20.

1:11:20Nothing over your head. Bat the ball down. After watching last week's gaming, it's Western Michigan and Michigan. Maybe they got two plays left. Yes. Maybe maybe the seconds in the state of Michigan are measured differently than in other states. However, I think something can be learned from those instances. It's in Hail Mary's. It's always the late arriving receiver with a slightly under thrown ball that usually comes down with it. So an over pursuit on the defensive side. I'm thinking of a couple of instances. Last week Western Michigan. You also have Jordan Wester camp, 2013 against Northwestern. He was a little more in the back of the end zone by himself. So you just can't over pursue. Keep the ball in front of you and when it's in the air going attack it. So we'll see how the charger defense treats this final play of the first half. Six seconds left in the first half.

1:12:22Hillsdale 28, Wayne State, nothing. Second down to 18 for the chargers at their own. 45. They have a new quarterback in the game and he's going to go down in Jirogui with another sack. The first half was nothing short of offensive dominance by the chargers. 339 to 79 in total offense.

1:13:27So one sided game for sure. And as we keep saying, I think this is the best Hillsdale team in the last four years for sure. And through the first one and a half games of play that has been the case. Really on both sides of the ball, Ted. That last drive, Jaden Jirogui, two sacks, nothing doing on offense so far. For the warriors, interested to see what they do coming out on offense if they can find any signs of life. Warriors looking for their first points of 2026. The university itself is a lot bigger than I thought I was told before the game. There's about 20,000 students. It's the flagship public university in Detroit. And it's been division two since its founding, which is kind of interesting.

1:14:29Hillsdale only 1,600 students enrolled. That kind of gives you, I mean, as a student, it gives you the ability of being on campus, you literally know everybody. So that's definitely nice. Class sizes are small as well. I'm trying to think my Spanish class right now, I've got four other people. So there is no hiding, folks. You got to do your homework. Or the professor will, yeah, you're going to hear about it. It's an excellent academic institution. I've spent a complete pleasure and a privilege being a student at Hillsdale College. I mean the good old days really did exist for Nebraska football and it's one of the biggest NIL spenders in the nation. So why can't we be like Indiana? Why not in Lincoln? Maybe we can't tell maybe this is the year.

Jefferson to his right. Looking out in the flat and Ryan Nixon with a pass break up there in nearly a house call. It's a great break on the ball by Nixon. But it looks like a warrior receiver is going to recover it after Jefferson coughed it up at the 22 yard line.

And now there's going to be a flag on the field for could it possibly be like a block in the back job. That's what it looks like out the wide receiver on the near side. Looks like he got the DB in the back and that's what freed up Davis for that run. Like a block in the back offense number 13 10. 30 second down. And again after some momentum some sparks of talent from this Wayne State squad. They shoot themselves in the foot with some penalties and back some up.

Davis looking left across the middle and it's intercepted at the five. And ladies got stumbles down at the five yard line. But a great play from him. Wayne State's very fortunate that Scott couldn't keep his footing on that return. There's a lot of green grass in front of them if he can get going. He had miles of running in front of him, but acrobatic grab from him nonetheless. So first down in 10 for Hillsdale. At their own four yard line they're going to have to go 96 yards. 720 left third quarter.

1:34:46Hillsdale 35 Wayne State nothing. McCurden under center. Hayward in the backfield. Ready to the far side. It's a gift to Hayward. He's running left. He's got him burst of speed all the way out to the 27 yard line. Goes the sophomore from Texas. His teammates jokingly call him scant, cam scataboo. Last week Hayward absolutely ran over a defender from McHendry. A very physical runner but she'll in there. He can move in space as well. First down in 10 for McCurden. He's in the gun. Chargers at their own 27. And it's a jet sweep to runny running righties to the 30 35 40. And hit down at the 44 yard line if he would have beaten that last man. It would have been six points.

1:35:49Hillsdale's getting whatever they want on the ground here. Dominance at the line is grimace. In just two plays they're down from their own four yard line nearly to midfield. Welcome to the grammar minute when we're saving the English language 60 seconds at a time. I'm Lauren Smith and today we're going to talk about the difference between me neither and me either. Depending on who you ask, there really isn't one. But locally they do both mean the same thing. So I'm in the camp that says they're pretty much interchangeable with a slight preference for me neither. Actually, both phrases are probably grammatically wrong for somewhat complicated reasons I'm not going to drag us through. On the internet, you will sometimes see people argue that me neither is used to agree with negative statements, such as I don't eat grass, me neither. While me either is used to agree with positive statements.

1:49:05They typically don't give an example of that latter case and I'm pretty sure that's because there's not one. I certainly couldn't think of any. So the summary on this issue is don't use either one informal writing, but also don't get too picky in a casual conversation. That's your grammar minute. 1:51:10A lot of run plays now, Joe. Keep that clock running. Get out of this game without any injuries. So far it's been just an impressive performance from this. 134th team of charger football. It's been very impressive both sides of the ball on defense. Seven sacks, two force turnovers. Offense is just about tripling the warriors in terms of yards. Hold in the gun.
