I Left My News Career and Walked Into a War Zone
About this episode
Would love to hear your thoughts!
The day after Becca Solomon walked away from her career in TV news, everything changed.
In September 2023, she made the difficult decision to leave a profession she loved. The next day, she flew to Israel to celebrate the High Holidays with family and friends.
Then came the October 7th attacks in Israel — including the attack on the Nova Music Festival.
Becca found herself outside Tel Aviv — hearing sirens, unable to leave, and living through days of uncertainty in a way that felt completely foreign, yet all too real.
She shares what those days were like, what it revealed about life there, and what came after — returning home, processing trauma, and navigating the silence that followed.
This is a conversation about survival, identity, and what it takes to heal after everything changes.
