Gaza flotilla activists deported from Israel as backlash over treatment grows

Today Explains

About this episode

Israel has deported all foreign activists seized by its navy from the Gaza-bound "Global Sumud Flotilla" amid a fierce international backlash.
Forces intercepted the fleet of more than 50 aid boats in international waters west of Cyprus, approximately 250 nautical miles from Gaza. Around 430 activists from over 40 countries—including notable figures like Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg—were detained and taken to Ketziot prison in the Negev Desert before being expelled via southern Israeli airports and border crossings.
