Hello friends, welcome to the SeenPod for Kids.
Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus.
Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day.
Let's begin our time together praising Him.
Did you know that the song redeemed was based off of a text in Lamentations, chapter 3, verse 58?
Here's what it says,
O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul, thou hast redeemed my life.
Originally, this song had five verses, but in our Adventist hymn book today, you will only find three.
Let's sing this song together.
Redeemed how I love to proclaim, and redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.
Redeemed through his infinite mercy, is chaden forever I am.
Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.
Redeemed, redeemed, is chaden forever I am.
I know there's a crown that is waiting in yonder bright mansion for me.
And soon with a sense made perfect, at home with the Lord I shall be.
Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.
Redeemed, redeemed, is chaden forever I am.
Welcome to Hide His Word, a special program where we take a few minutes to hide God's Word in our hearts.
Let's go ahead and get started.
How are you doing reviewing these verses?
I'm so proud of you.
We are just making sure that we have it in our brains really well.
So let's go ahead and we'll start with Psalm 23.
Psalm 23, the Lord is my shepherd.
Are you ready to say it with me?
The Lord is my shepherd.
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake.
Yay, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.
For you are with me.
Your rod and your staff they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil.
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Now let's say Psalm 91, are you ready?
He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress.
My God in Him I will trust.
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the Fowler and from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers and under His wings you shall take refuge.
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day,
nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noon day.
A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand,
but it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord who is my refuge, even the most high your dwelling place.
No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling.
For He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall bear you up, less you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample under foot.
Because He has set His love upon me, therefore I will deliver Him.
I will set Him on high because He has known my name.
He shall call upon me and I will answer Him.
I will be with Him in trouble.
I will deliver Him and honor Him.
With long life I will satisfy Him and show Him my salvation.
Great job.
Let's go to the Bible lesson.
Have you ever planned a surprise birthday party?
Something that you really didn't want other people to know about?
Because it was supposed to be a surprise.
We have done birthday parties before, especially when we were younger and we didn't have kids.
I would plan surprise birthday parties like for my husband or for friends and it was a lot of fun.
The King of Syria was making some surprise attacks.
It wasn't birthday parties but they were attacks on different places in Israel.
And somebody kept finding out about them and we're going to learn about that in just a minute.
But first let's pray.
Lord, help us to trust you in every little detail in our lives.
Help us to listen to your still small voice.
In Jesus' name, amen.
The King of Syria lived near the King of Israel or at least near Israel.
And he would keep going and fighting against the Israelites.
But something kept happening that the King of Syria couldn't understand.
It seemed that no matter how hard he tried to keep his plans of attack secret,
the King of Israel always found out about them.
And he would send his soldiers there to drive the Syrians away.
How did he know? How did he keep finding out?
It was supposed to be a secret.
My boys this last year for my birthday decided that they wanted to do something fun.
And so they went to the store and they got me some special things and they came back
and they wouldn't tell me what was going on.
And they would just giggle and smile and, oh, don't tell, don't tell.
And I would try to guess.
I'd be like, so would you, would you get?
What are you going to do?
What is that like?
And trying to trick them into telling me.
But they were not having it.
They were so excited because they wanted to surprise me with cake and balloons and all that.
Well, finally, one day the Syrian King decided that, you know what?
It must be one of my own soldiers.
That's a traitor.
And he must be telling my plans to someone in Israel.
So let's turn to 2 Kings chapter 6 verse 11.
We're going to 2 Kings.
I mean, I have my Bible.
They have Genesis Exodus, Leviticus numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth,
1st and 2nd Samuel, 1st and 2nd Kings.
So we're going to 2 Kings chapter 6 verse 11.
Here's what it says.
2 Kings chapter 6 verse 11.
Therefore, the heart of the King of Syria was greatly troubled by this thing.
And he called his servants and said to them,
will you not show me which of us is for the King of Israel?
He was very troubled.
He's like, what is going on?
How do they know?
Who is telling the King of Israel?
What's going on?
But the King's soldiers, they knew that, well, that's not true.
One of them told him what was really happening.
Look at verse 12, verse 12.
And one of his servants said,
not my Lord, okay.
But Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel,
tell the King of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.
Who was telling the secrets?
Elisha was Elisha there with them?
No, he was in Israel.
But God was revealing to Elisha what the King of Syria was planning.
Well, now they knew what the problem was.
So it must be easy to fix.
All the Syrian King needed to do was to go find out where Elisha was and capture him.
Done.
This always just boggles my mind.
Here he goes, and he'll whisper something to his men.
Hey, let's go find the Israelites over on the other side of the mountain.
And when he does that, Elisha knows and tells.
So why couldn't when he decides,
hey, let's go get Elisha and capture him?
What keeps Elisha from knowing that?
Like Elisha would know that too.
Look at verse 13.
So he said, go and see where he is that I may set and get him.
And it was told him saying,
surely he is in God's hand.
The King didn't want to take any chances.
So he decided to send so many soldiers
that there wouldn't be any way for Elisha to escape.
Look at verse 14.
Therefore he sent horses and chariots
and a great army there,
and they came by night and surrounded the city.
They went, they surrounded the city, they went by night so that it was dark,
and they could get all around the city.
Oh, what do you think is going to happen?
Do you think that the King of Syria knew very much about our powerful God?
How amazing he is?
No, I don't think so.
If the King of Syria and army make it hard for God to take care of Elisha,
we will have to find out next time.
You know, boys and girls, Elisha had such an amazing close relationship with God
that he could hear God's voice,
and he could know when God wanted him to do something
or God could reveal things to him.
I think of a story,
and I've been talking a lot about this book
because we've been reading it every night,
by Pavogoya,
and it is a story called in the spirit and the power.
It's an excellent book, very, very good.
I recommend it highly by Pavogoya and Kelly Mauer.
In this story,
or in this book, is a story about a couple
who decides that they want to ask God to talk to them
and to reveal things to them
and that they want to be so connected with God
that they can hear his voice.
And so they decide that they are not going to play the radio
when they drive in the car,
but they're going to be listening for God's voice.
So that's what they did.
Day after day, week after week.
One day, they were driving in the car
and it was a cold, cold, cold, and snowy day.
And as the husband's driving along,
the wife is there next to him,
and they're driving along the freeway,
and all of a sudden, he hears God's voice,
and he feels impressed to look to the right.
And so he looks over to the right,
and he sees a bump in the snow
out in this big field next to the road.
And he hears God basically say,
go check that out.
And so he starts to slow down,
and his wife looks over to him,
and she's like,
what's the matter?
And he's like,
there's something back there in the field,
and she's like,
what is it?
And he's like, well, it's white.
She's like, honey, snow is white.
Of course, it's white.
There's snow all around on the ground.
He's like, no, there's something,
I don't know.
I just, we need to stop.
And she's like,
in the middle of the winter,
like, no, let's just keep going.
And he's like, no, I need to go back.
So he gets off the freeway,
he goes back around,
gets back on the freeway,
going the opposite direction,
looks over there, and sure enough,
there's that white bump.
She's like, it's probably just a rock.
And he's like, no, I need to make sure.
And so then he gets off of the next exit,
loops back around,
and drives to ride about where he's near it,
and pulls over on the side of the road,
walks out, you know,
his nice clothes and everything,
walks out in the snow.
And when he gets there,
he sees that this white bump
in the snow is no rock,
but it is a person.
It's a man who has Alzheimer's.
And so this man scoops him up in his arms,
takes him back to their car,
they take him to the hospital,
and the doctor told him,
and he said, if you had not brought him in,
he was about to die.
And then, all of a sudden,
a couple days later,
he gets a phone call from the man's daughter,
and she's talking to him,
and she's like, I just want to thank you so much.
Oh, it's so wonderful that you saw him there by the road,
and he said, well,
he wasn't by the road.
And she's like, what?
He's, he wasn't?
He said, no.
He wasn't by the road.
He was out in the field,
buried under snow.
And she said, well, how did you see him?
And he said, you wouldn't believe it if I told you.
She said, no, how did you try me?
How did you see him?
And he said, well, okay.
I'll tell you, but you're not going to believe it.
God told me that he was there.
You see, I've been praying every day
for God to speak to me.
And as we were driving by,
God told me to look to the right.
And when I did, that's when I saw the bump,
and I went back,
and I checked it out,
and sure enough,
it was your father.
And her, you could just,
she was very silent on the other line,
on the other end of the phone,
and then all of a sudden she said,
what church do you go to?
I want to go to your church,
because you live your religion.
You have a real relationship with God.
Boys and girls,
Elisha had a real relationship with God,
and we can have a real relationship with God.
When we pray, when we talk to him,
when we ask him to speak to us,
and when we turn off,
or tune out,
the distractions in our lives,
so that we can hear God's voice,
he wants to have a relationship with us,
and he wants to talk to us.
That's how I want to be with God.
How about you?
Let's pray.
Dear Lord, help us to be so focused,
so committed to you,
that we can hear your voice,
that you will talk to us,
and that you will help us,
and lead us,
and guide us throughout our day.
Thank you so much in Jesus' name. Amen.
