Granny passed out

0:00Allison, you said you saw something pretty scary during your trip to Texas. What happened? So I went to the home opener for Texas Tech and it was really exciting. I was sat next to a bunch of people who clearly get season tickets every year. They get the same seats every year. They all knew each other. It was like a big reunion. Well, there was this family of seven that was in front of me. It was grandma, her son, her daughter, their spouses, their kids. And we're all having a good time. The game's going great. And grandma goes to get some snacks for everybody. So things still going great. She comes back next thing you know, everyone's freaking out. Grandma has passed out. So it's like it's a really hot day. The sun is beating on us. It hasn't gone down yet. So like she just overheated. And like the family, of course, is freaking out. Because she's, they've got a layer down. Somebody starts performing CPR on her, which I don't think was necessary. But they were very scared. They were just reacting to the moment.

1:01We're all screaming, trying to get security to come help us. Finally, a medical professional comes over to monitor her as soon as she wakes back up. So it's like this really scary moment. The whole family is crying. It's stressful. Like, I'm stressed for them. But then what was so weird to me was they escort grandma over to like a medical tent. The daughter goes with her, but the rest of the family stays. Oh, they were just camping out. The rest of the family is like bawling their eyes out. It's like, no, we don't want to miss the home opener. And I'm like, how did we go from like screaming, thinking grandma might be dead to like, yeah, she's fine. We don't. We brought some dirt on it. And then literally it's like, I don't know. The end of the first quarter, maybe a little further into the game. The daughter finally comes back and she lets them know, hey, like there's too many people that have passed out at this game so nobody can help her. And I'm sitting here going take her to a hospital. And they're like, no, we want to watch the game.

2:02That's hilarious. We want to see the end of this game. So did grandma make her way back? Grandma never came back, but the family sat through the home opener. They didn't want to miss out on what they had paid for with those season tickets. OK, so 601-995-1017 is our phone number. Have you ever like been pressured to leave? And then you decided to stay or get criticized for not leaving some kind of event because something happened. And you were like, nah, I'm going to hang out. Yeah, I'm just going to wait. I mean, it was just I was judging that family. I have to admit because I was like, I know if it was my family and something happened to my grandma. It would not just be like, oh, but we really want to see how the rest of the game goes. Allison, quickly, recap what you witnessed over your long holiday break. So I went to the Texas Tech Home opener game. There was a family of seven in front of me. Grandma, her kids, the grandkids. And grandma passes out because it's so hot. And the family's freaking out.

3:02They're crying yet whenever grandma gets taken to be evaluated by the medical team. And then they find out there's going to be a really long way. They could just take her to the hospital. No, they were going to miss the game. The whole family stays and watches the game even though they've got tears running down their face. They like checked in with the kids because the kids are traumatized. And it's like, no, we got it. We bought these season tickets. We're not going to miss out on this money we spent. Wade from Brandt says grandma probably faked it. So she wouldn't have to be around anymore. Texas Tech fans for the rest of the day. Hook them horns. Oh, well, I can promise you that definitely was not the case. These people were, these people lived in Lubbock. They were true Lubbock Onions or however you would call them. I would love to hear though if you have a similar story to like maybe you got some pressure to leave some kind of an event for some reason, whether it was a medical emergency, a grandma had or something else. Like I saw this text. It says that on their friends 21st birthday, the friend celebrating got kicked out of the

4:05bar had to go home. So they just put the friend in the Uber and continued to celebrate the friends 21st birthday, which I could see being upset. If my friends did that to me on my 21st birthday, I'm getting kicked out of a bar and nobody's going to go with me to make sure I don't die. Absolutely. Or just like it's my birthday were there to celebrate me and then you're going to continue the celebrations without me. That's crazy. I would be really upset about that. But yeah, I mean this family they were like we're not going to miss the home opener. Although the daughter did say something that was kind of funny. She was like, I guess we won't come to this game next year. And it's like you stay for the whole game this year. Like you didn't take grandma to the hospital when nobody was available to see her after you thought she had died. And yet you're like, wow, we won't come to this game next year. Well, worry about that next year. This year though, we're here. We might as well watch the game. Yeah, let's just stick it out. Granny will be okay.
