win it was their first preliminary final since 2015 they will play it next week one man who will be there And it was a star again tonight is Alex P's Alex welcome to 38 W congratulations on the win Thanks fellas. Yeah, great to be here. It's a special night It doesn't feel a little bit of the monkey off the back to get that Finals win after what happened last week against Hawthorne a bit of redemption But also to know that this season is still well and truly alive Yeah, I guess so there's plenty of thoughts that go through your head during the week after Lost like last weekend and yeah, we feel like we're a good enough team Yeah to to be here and to make a prelimin Throughout the week it was all about reconnecting to what makes us What makes us a really good team and not looking? Well, we need to try too hard or find anything new. It's about yeah reconnecting to the the footy that we played and I think we Yeah, that first quarter we came out and we were really tough and Handled the pressure which we didn't quite do the weekend before so yeah, it was a yeah, there's a guts you in and
All right, especially in that sort of third quarter will be a challenge and we're under pressure To just sticks to our footy and get the basics done and yeah, just keep our heads It's yeah, just super proud of all the boys Alex Jimmy Bartel here well down on a magnificent win That's what I was gonna ask your next is it sometimes just being reminded by the coaches and even using video and just talked it Yeah, we're we're a very very good side We know how to play good footy and connect as you say with each other was that the clear theme of the week that no No, no, we've got the ability to be better than anybody else Yeah a little bit it's I guess the finals fully throws up Um throws up a lot for different individuals and you can really build it up Um in your own head and it just Well, you know better than anyone else it requires playing your brand of footy under the fiercest pressure and just sticking to sticking to what you know and handling pressure and Yeah, we I think we tried it
Just sort of went away from that a little bit last week and as I said didn't handle the The contest and today I just thought the way we were able to Take tackles drive with the ball. We use our numbers Yeah, it really stood out and especially In parts of the game and really needed it like that yeah, like I said that third quarter when things started to get um a bit tied and they were they were on top our ability to focus on the contest and Sticks of roll and not trying to do anything outside of that. It's yeah requires everyone out there committing and connecting to yeah to what how we're trying to play and yeah, it was um Yeah, it was just good to be a part of you mentioned taking tackles No one could put heat chappin down tonight. He always plays The unsung role it gets the biggest of jobs and he doesn't seem to be too fazed by it And he just keeps running out contest the contest Yeah, it's a type of personality. He's a pretty laid-back character So you sort of get that with him on the field when he's when he's under real pressure. He's able to
stand up and stay calm and just do what's required in the moment and yeah, there was a was a few guys Like that. I thought Maddie Johnson early in the game was able to stand up in some tackles and Really do some great stuff for us, but there was a yeah, it's a really Teen effort and I'm yeah, just so proud of um reaching everyone of us the big guy in the center bounce Luke Jackson was exceptional again He was when you're needing him that the most he came to the fore Absolutely some clutch goals as well He's very reliable in front of go again and have the bloke of his anymore laid-back You'd be at sleep during the day and he just he goes back and just slots him when we need him and He's been he's been a great player for us and he's had a great season and yeah He stood up for us tonight when we need him the most and one last one before we let you go and celebrate with your teammates Not quite laid-back with describing Pat Voss Do you give him a wide-birth at training first and foremost? No, of course not. I guess like in women training got a you got to farm up. He's a
He's a competitor and that's that's what we love about him and Yeah, it's I guess part of Sort of preparing for this week. It's about trying to Connect to what makes each individual a good player and bringing that out and Everyone's everyone's different has different strengths and I thought yeah Vossy and the tall forwards today Really stood up and are aggressive. They laid pressure. They brought the ball to the ground Which is something you need to do against this too long side. So Yeah, all all throughout the the park each line. I think stood up and was able to do what was needed
