It is Tuesday, September 8th, and just in case it wasn't clear, Harry and Megan aren't with us.

3:09And with that, welcome to this episode of Abyn T.J. That was a statement put out by King Charles. You've had, we've all been in that position with family or friends, you're out somewhere and they do something a little embarrassing. I don't claim them. I'm not with them. You know what? I feel like he could have put, like, if this was a social media statement, we could have just had Kendrick Lamar's. They're not like us. They're not like us. They're not. And they're not. And yeah, because they said they weren't like us. Look, yo, Prince, I mean, Harry and Megan, robes, they are just, they can't. They can't get anything right. They can't get it right, but they can't get a break. It feels like sometimes with some of these headlines. A lot of people here that go, give me a frickin break. They did this to themselves. Yeah, everything they did, they asked for. But this is tough. Daddy-O has spoken in a very emphatic way to make clear to everybody. I know they're back in the UK, but the only thing that's changed is their address. Do we need a clarification from King Charles? I think maybe. Okay, and I'm just curious what the ripple effects are for that personally to have put out this statement.

4:09This statement, this letter just reminding everybody what they already knew that nothing had changed, that they still were non-working royals. And oh, by the way, don't say his or her majesty, because they don't get to be regarded like that. Well, you know, Rose, this story, because it was a surprise. Well, I don't know a month ago, maybe when the news came out that they were going to be moving back to the UK. People went crazy. This was huge. They've been in Southern California for six years, building their California dreams, right? Wonderful home. She's got shows. She's the new biracial Martha Stewart. Everything is going great for them. Surprise that going back to the UK. We were trying to figure out everybody why. And then we heard about her acting gig. Maybe that's why. Or maybe Harry is reconciling with the fan. Rose, everybody was trying to figure out. But the hope has been reconcilnation. Absolutely, but I'm laughing at your glass half full. Yes. Synopsis of what has taken place over the last six years, because a lot of folks will say it's quite the opposite.

5:12That all of her deals that she hoped would bring her a lot of income, including even Prince Harry's decision to write that book spare. Of course, all of that netted an initial pretty hefty large financial gain. But when you've got a, what is it, a 14 bedroom, 20 bathroom, monocity to a state, and a vacation home in Portugal, you've got big bills to pay. So yes, a lot of people pointed out that while they got initial lucrative deals, they weren't long term. They weren't lasting. The checks stopped coming in. Netflix said, actually we're good. You think this is a point of Harry also felt very disconnected from his life, his family, his culture, his kids didn't get to know. So he was pacing the halls of their monoceto mansion, feeling very frustrated and alone and isolated. So they actually pulled up the family and dogs and all. I guess they left their chickens back in monoceto. But they are looking for a new start and a fresh start.

6:17And so it wasn't that they were just building on all of this wonderful six years of marital and familial bliss. This is them trying to do some repair work, to some major damage that they frankly caused. And I would like to think that the repair work had to do with the family, that they wanted to repair the royal family. Yes. I would like to think that too. I gave a rosier synopsis of their time. I just wanted to make that clear. I appreciate that because usually I'm the one that's toxically positive. But that was fun that we switched roles there for a second. I love, you know I like her show. That's probably why I said it was a name of with love, Megan. Yes. Yes. Two seasons of it. And that's all you're getting. I like the show. We've seen at least I think each episode three times now. Because I'll leave it running in the morning on this TV in here. But then we, we happen on to Martha Stewart's cooking show the other day and we go, oh, okay. Oh, this is how it's done. Martha is just the best, by the way.

7:20But anyway, back to Harry and Megan. So robs with all that. They go back. And yes, there is hope. Now you know, robs can't imagine. The number of questions and inquiries, press inquiries, letters that are flying from government officials, from press, everybody asking what's going to happen. Are they back in? Are they back in the fold? What are we going to do? Was this mean? We haven't gotten a lot of answers from that. And I didn't really. Robs is the first time we've officially heard the king then put out an official statement regarding Harry and Megan being back. And yes, to a certain degree, you could understand they need to clear things up. I get that. And it is a big deal. Any time the king bucking a palace, they don't release statements just have hazardly. All of this is carefully curated and planned and executed. And so a lot of thought I'm sure went into if they should release the statement, how they should release the statement, and then yes, what the statement should actually say. So we do have the official letter from King Charles.

8:21And again, this went to, this wasn't just a letter and it sounds like Harry and Megan might have gotten it last. But this went out to all government officials, this went out to police and law enforcement to get everybody an understanding of how to treat these two as they go back into maybe public life of some to some degree in the UK. And Robs are going to be doing a lot of press events or what charity events that we making appearances. And this makes clear. They are not showing up anywhere on behalf of the royal family. All right. Here is the official letter following the decision by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to relocate to the UK. We have received a number of requests for guidance to help avoid doubt or confusion. The king has directed that the following information be shared like that line. The king has directed to avoid doubt and confusion. That was playing spoke. Okay, let me clear this up. Like this is the as colloquial as you will hear a booking and power speak.

9:21All right. The letter goes on to say this. It is well known that in January 2020, the Duke and Duchess stepped down from undertaking representative duties on behalf of the sovereign. I like that line too. Just a reminder. They did this. Yes. We didn't push them out. We didn't tell them to leave. I love it. This was of their doing. All right. They stepped down from undertaking representative duties on behalf of the sovereign and are no longer working members of the royal family. This position distinct from the state and royal duties undertaken by the working royal family. With the personal latitude, it brings the couple in respect of financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish will continue to be fully respected. I do think that's an important part here. Look, if you look at William and Kate's kids, they are working members in a way of the royal family. Their faces, their images, their likeness. All of that is a part of them showing up being transparent.

10:25This is our family. We are the royal family. Meghan and Harry, we have never seen their kids faces never once. And that's how they want it. And because they want that level of privacy, they couldn't possibly be a part of the working family because that is a part of it. You don't get to keep your identity hidden. You don't get certain privacy that clearly Meghan and Harry value over being members of the royal family. What's William's son, the oldest one who's next in line with his name? George. George, you can't hide George's face. He's going to eventually be the king of kings. And anyone who potentially is in line, you would think that you are a public servant. You are a public big girl. They take it seriously over there. They do. This is service. Yes, absolutely. So yes, George and Charlotte and Louis, we know and love their faces. And they don't get to be private citizens. It's things to people to a certain degree.

11:25That is as privileged as you can get. You have this opportunity and you're rejecting it and throwing it back and also trashing it on the way out. And then you want to both ways. And then you want the protection and you want the taxpayer dollars to protect you. That you can't have it both ways. That does make a lot of sense. That's why you can understand why people will be turned off by that. Especially the British folks seeing this pay. This is not just some figurehead. This is not just some dismissive thing. It just rolls in no big deal. It rolls. They are regarded a certain way there. This is Lady Die. This is Princess Die's son. So who we watched grow up. And now this American woman is coming here and had him turn his back on the phone. And he's trashed his family publicly for profit. And I think that makes it even worse. Making clear, these aren't our impressions. No. But this is, I guess, the rub. This is what's out there. And this is why. I hope some of these moves that they've made. But I like the line there.

12:26They said, yeah, what they want it? Sure thing. We're going to keep respecting it. They're like, yeah, knock yourselves out. That was the next line. Yes. Knock yourselves out. We'll fully respect that you want your privacy. But in exchange for your privacy, it continues. It follows that there is no change to the current status of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their styles as his and her royal highness remain in a bans and are not used. The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests. Another good line, but they had to. Their styles as his and her royal highness. Like, we have to remind you all. Don't call them that because they are not. Any specific questions from official and state organizations about the cursesys, which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required,

13:27should be directed to Buckingham Palace. Any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant police authorities. So basically, we want to say, like, do not extend anything to them that would cost taxpayers any money without first clearing it with us. Robs. This is a claim. This is very clearly written. Yes. It goes on, final, final sentence. All correspondence and administrative questions relating to the couple should be sent directly to their office, which will continue to operate separately from the royal household. That should be it, right? He made that as clear as he can. Robs, you know they've been getting a lot of questions. Look, I had questions. They're going back to do what? What do they want to do? I thought that Robs, they were going back because, yes, she has an acting gig. That's huge. He has met with his dad in the past year or so.

14:27The grandkids met with Grand Daddy. Yes. This summer, yes. So all of that made it sound as if reconciliation was going to be possible, not just possible, but even a priority of them moving back. This seems official. This doesn't seem like a dad. This seems like the king of being the need to do what he needed to do. Yes. And look, it'll be interesting to see if they're able to move the needle at all in terms of public opinion, or if they even care to. I would think Prince Harry would. That would be a part of this, but maybe they're over it. But the fact that they've moved back as private citizens, there are still going to be a lot of questions. How are they treated? How are they regarded? All of the above. I'm worried about her health and mental health and worried about... Robs, that's just that onslaught that we have. We got about 1% of what she gets. It's so little and it's unbearable.

15:28It's unbearable. The 1% was unbearable. Can't imagine another 99% coming. She's growing. I was happy she's getting the acting gig. I was hoping that was going to be the case. What was the latest on that? It had been pulled and nothing is official. The latest is that it's still on the table. The latest is that she still may end up being in season 3. They just got greenlit. So the production is just beginning in terms of... The gentleman. Guy Richie is known for liking this type of attention. He might really lean into it. It makes a lot of sense because if they're talking about you, they're talking about you. They notice you. They'll check it out. That all probably is good for ratings. I had no idea about this show. Neither did I. But it's the sexy kind of thing that I would absolutely like. I can get some spy stuff and some clandestine stuff and love the old James. He had the hilarious response. They're getting asked about it. You know they're annoyed. They had to do a whole press junky.

16:28They had to do a whole publicity tour for this show that just came out with September 3rd. Yeah. It just came out this past week for season 2. They've been asked nonstop about it. But he was asked about it. This was the funny response. Actually, it's Sarah Ferguson. That's funny and move on. Thank you Theo. For that. But we have just this morning. We got this letter from the king. It was put out yesterday on Monday. But we are hearing now reports from the BBC of a reaction by Prince Harry to finding out about this letter. We will explain that. Also, we'll also remind you about Queen Elizabeth and what she said about them wanting to be part-time working royals. Everyone, it's the Jonas Brothers with the Hey Jonas podcast. You know if your like mom is yelling at your sibling and even if you're annoyed with your sibling, you just like won't let that slide. It's like you only can yell at your sibling. I'm like you can't do that here. That is not what I want talk about her like that. I just want to talk about her. 20:37By a's a rather nervous doll, at least 70% have a phone. Middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in. I'm Dr. Joy and this is Therapy for Black Girls. So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological chaos, I mean all this seems odd. Belonging, you could think of belonging as I can be myself and I can still be accepted. And then they're fitting in. Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection. Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers, sitting down with therapist Keir Gaines on black fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage. You don't have more shorts so you can't do flips, you have more dress up across your legs. That's the range of this run from screen time to identity to the fathers doing the work at home.

21:41You have to get off her device. But the reality is there's a lot of life out there that we don't want you as your adults in the life to miss out on. Yes, we might have been a little taken aback by King Charles's public letter to the government to frankly everyone reminding folks that Prince Harry and Duchess Megan are not working members of the royal family. They should not be called his or her royal highness. Help me again, baby. She still can be called Princess. Princess Megan. And Duchess, absolutely. But Princess Megan, we call it Princess Megan. Yes, she earned it through marriage and obviously he earned it through birthright. And then their children are all Prince, it's a Prince Archie and Princess Lillabette.

23:5275 or 5 and 3, 75 and 5, I believe. And look, we just are getting word. NBC and BBC both have this and they say that a spokesperson for the couple told them that they were quote surprised by the letter sent on behalf of King Charles. That is not good if they have actually agreed to allow their spokesperson to give their reaction to King Charles's letter. I mean, that's kind, that's surprising to me. Just say nothing. Why do you need to put out there that you're surprised, meaning you're offended? I mean, isn't that what those two things both mean? What do you allow? Like, these are such high stakes, I guess, but there's so much emotion. So much hurt feelings in this is just in that moment. Right, you put out a statement saying we understand why we continue to appreciate the support. Yes, glad that the kids are here. There was an opportunity instead. Instead, this is what we have a spokesperson for Harry and Megan told NBC News.

24:58They were surprised by the letter and were not given an opportunity to contribute to its contents. Because he's the king. He doesn't need to consult that also makes them sound arrogant and entitled, which is exactly their problem with the public. Okay, I didn't see the rest of that. I just saw the surprise. Yes, the contents of the letter were shared with a couple staff a few hours before it was released according to a spokesperson for the Sussexes. The Abukingham Palace was also confirmed that the letter had been shared with Harry's team on Monday before it was released. But you're right, there was such an opportunity for them to say we respect. We appreciate the clarification. It's important for government officials and folks to understand how to regard us. And we always appreciate just being we were given advance notice of this. And we appreciate the contents clarification is always good. Like they could just have been, yes, appreciative, grateful and not reactive. And now now they're stirring the pot.

25:59And don't Harry and Megan need more PR help from the king. I'm saying you're not going to win a public spat with the king. Everybody. I say everybody hates you. And that's not literal, but it's close. We've talked about this plenty of time. She is only ranked above Andrew. The demand formally known as Prince Andrew in popularity. Only above him of all the working role as 10 15 to whatever they are, even the girl Andrew's daughters or the union. Yeah, eugenie eugenie and Beatrice ranked higher than Megan. Everybody robs the list of popularity and royals in the polling. And then we have the union. Kate. Boom. Boom. Boom. Androop at the bottom. That's who she's at the bottom with. You put out a better statement. What can she do, babe, to make people around them? They need better people around them. They need better people around them. And they need to be grateful. And they need to understand that there was a different perspective than the one that they currently carry.

27:01And that's a really hard thing to do. Oh, you need to be in the room. That statement lands it. There is a different perspective you should consider than the ones you all have about what's happening in your world. Rose. I just, what can't you, because I'd like these two people. And I want them to be okay. I want the whole family to be together again. And I'm from Arkansas. And I cared about this family. It's funny. We had a conversation about this on YouTube and people had commented, how could you possibly be rooting for this couple? And I actually, there are a lot of reasons why we root for people because I do believe that people can't be. I believe that people can evolve. They can suddenly find self-awareness. And there can be a learning curve that we should all extend to other people as well as to ourselves. We can do better. We can change. We can grow. And oftentimes it's through those painful experiences. And yes, sometimes even public shaming where you can evolve and emerge a better, more well-rounded, open-minded, open-hearted person. And yes, I root for that.

28:01And I root for them. I just don't think any of these people are bad people. I don't need them. I just don't know what she could possibly do. I keep saying her, what can they possibly do? Everything feels like a big attempt to do something. Versus just live your life. Stop living like a victim, I guess, would be the best way. Is that what they say she's doing? Yes. We gotta watch that documentary. They gotta let it go. I mean, I know that's easy to say and hard to do, but they have to move on from victim status. That is the only way. And what happened to them may have all happened to them exactly as they said it. And I understand feeling angry and feeling like you've been attacked unfairly. And you've been accused of things that you didn't do. All of that can really build up this feeling of victimhood. But that only hurts you. And you're holding on to that because it's what, it's made you feel safe. That's your identity. They gotta figure out a way to let it go. You just said something, Robsay. You're very good at this. It takes a little while. But you eventually get me around to where I need to be.

29:01Just like you gave the good PR line. I was like, oh yeah, that's what they need to hear. You've just brought me around. I don't know if this could never be fixed. Because you know what you said, baby? You said they feel like they were really wronged. And they might feel like they are victims. And everything might have happened just like that. Robsay will never, ever be okay with the people who lie to a tabloid to take us down. Right. There is no way I will ever be okay with those individuals in a room, in a conversation, and certainly to make up publicly. So if they feel any kind of way that I feel about the individual that did this for us. There's a whole, I have a different perspective now. Yeah, and they wrote a book about it. This day, this might not ever come back. When you put it into that, those terms, if you see it like that,

30:03if they feel the way about that family, the way I feel and know about the folks that did what they did to us intentionally. And by the way, what you just described is exactly how King Charles William and Kate may feel about Harry and Meghan because they put it in print. Yeah, I'm going to hop on Cal machine out and change my bet to reconciliation. Nope, ain't happening. You just hit me with that. Nip, I can see this never happening. I know. It's so personal. And words cannot be unsaid. And printed words cannot be erased. But sometimes harm can't be undone, baby. There was a reprobable harm. Possibly they think was done to the royal family, possibly to Meghan and Harry. Everybody's hurt. To Amy and TJ. Exactly. Yes, when you put it through that personal lens, it all makes so much sense.

31:03It's so easy to judge or to have an opinion when you haven't been through something. But if you've even been through a kind of sort of similar, and a lot of people have in families, you understand why this cuts so deep. We're going to see Harry and Meghan just dropping the kids off at the front of Buckingham, but they ain't going in. It's been a time of granddaddy. We're not allowed in. No, I can see this.
