Hour 1 - Dems Excusing 9/11?

0:00This is an I Heart Podcast. Guaranteed Human. A GOP midterm convention, I should say. Same idea. R&C is running it. We'll talk a little bit about that because it all ties in, of course, to the midterms. So a lot of politics underway. We are in the post-labor day period where you're going to have much more of a focus on those midterms than even before. I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend, by the way, and enjoyed the end of summer. I cannot believe how quickly the summer went before I dive into the news the day.

1:00And also some of what's coming up this week, including the 25th anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attack on this country. And also it's a solemn week, the one year anniversary of the assassination of our friend Charlie Kirk. So there's going to be a lot of emotionally heavy stuff this week. Later on in the week, that will be when obviously September 11th coming up and also Charlie's anniversary or the memorial for Charlie's assassination a year ago. But in the meantime, I wanted to share this with you from President Trump on his Truth Social account yesterday. It's very fun, very Trump. Happy Labor Day to all, including the radical efflunatics, communists and dumbocrets, who will do anything possible to destroy our country. These deranged people after fighting for 10 years should finally acknowledge that your favorite president, me, knows how to win.

2:04They should be exhausted by now, but sadly, they're not. They're going to give it one last shot at Rooning America, but we're not going to let that happen. We're going to win them in terms big and save America. President Donald J. Trump, he did not say I think in this one. Thank you for your attention in that matter, but I believe it is still an official Trump communication despite the lack of that now timeless sign off from the president. So pointing out that he thinks things are going to go in the right direction with this midterm. And I think that's a, I like the optimism, but we're going to stay optimistic until the votes come in. We're going to get everybody motivated, mobilized, get everyone out there in the mix in the fight because it is essential for the continuation of the Trump agenda that we maintain the Senate and the House. Certainly the Senate, more, even more so the Senate, but the House, we can keep it and that will be an essential piece for the Trump agenda.

3:14Now I mentioned the GOP midterm convention. It's tomorrow to Thursday. So you've got JD Vance, Trump both nights. He's the keynote on Thursday. R&C is calling it Trump a Paloza. What are the big things that they are hitting? Tax cuts, like no tax on tips, for example, the secure border, the reductions in crime and taking the fight to the social. The socialists in a big way in a, in a huge way. This is not a nominating convention as you know, it is just for turnout. It is to get everybody refocus. I like it. I like that this has gotten the buy-in of the Republican Party machine because we need to have a much more concerted, much bigger momentum here. And movement toward getting the kind of result we want in that midterm. A, a challenge here is as follows.

4:22As I've discussed before, as Clan, I've discussed before on the show, there is always the sense of annoyance and grievance that people will have that things are not exactly the way they want them to be. That is just a reality. But the people in charge, Donald Trump specifically, have done a lot to make things better. And I do think that there's been a shift in the Trump era. If I had to identify one of the biggest changes in not just what how Trump speaks about things, of course, but about the Republican Party in a more enduring way. And something that I hope will go beyond even the era of Trump that we have been living in politically. And it's less, oh, the GOP just gets out of the way. And more, the GOP makes your life better. Now notice, sometimes that means getting out of the way.

5:24These things are not mutually exclusive, meaning government gets out of the way. Sometimes that is the actual tactical reality. But the strategic imperative that the Republican Party is going to be explaining to the American people this week at their convention in Dallas. And the course on show is like this one will have people joining us. We'll be talking about this is that the GOP makes the lives of the American people better than they would certainly be if left in the hands of the alternative as Trump calls them the Democrats. This midterm is going to be largely a referendum on that feeling. You know, 48% of the country is on one side of the fence baked in 48% of the country roughly speaking so on the other side of the fence. And then you get, you know, this little percentage in the middle, you know, three, four points that can go one way or the other.

6:26And what matters to them is what can be said has been done to deal with things like the cost of food, the cost of housing groceries. Yes, these things are all interrelated, meaning the border being secure, makes the country better. The border being secure helps the country economically lower crime. This is not talked about nearly enough. Lower crime for American cities, especially in the neighborhoods that have huge drops in crime because of the Trump initiative means more flourishing businesses, more real estate development. So yeah, it means people walk around feeling safer, which is a critical obligation of government. But beyond that, there are downstream effects that affect a whole lot of things too. And I really want them to be talking about this. The GOP should not be the party of we get out of the way. Yeah, when, when that's the smart move, you don't want to over regulate, you don't want to over tax, you don't want to do the, but it's about solutions, not about the absence of making things worse, the absence of screwing everything up, which is what Democrats will do. And they need to be explaining that the absence of screwing everything up is not the same as making things, whoops, is not the same as making things better.

7:47Better, I got so excited I whacked my own microphone that can happen. But this is an important distinction in the messaging. And then you have the socialism piece of this with the Democrat party going hard left in very real ways. And I would tell you, here's an example. I had not heard of this individual before socialism 2026 conference speaker. This is cut one on what, what is the democratic socialist of America? What do they really think? What do they believe? And Democrats will pretend that this doesn't matter to them. But of course it does. They will campaign with some of the most prominent DSA members. They will mobilize behind the banner of the DSA as much as it can help them advance their prospects. Be useful in the moment. But what do they think? What do they believe? Here's Dishon Harrison on the evils of GLP one drug like ozempick and other. That's a brand name, but those kinds of drugs, these GLP one drugs. This was said at the socialism conference this year. Play cut one.

9:00The political deployment of GLP ones is fascistic, not because individuals take them, but because the conditions under which they become necessary are shaped by a world fixated on genociding fat people. This is a structural critique that asks what happens when the conditions produced by capitalism, by public health, by the state apparatus, and by anti-black desire, align around a single bodily ideal that leaves little to no room for diversions and punishes any body that does. Whereas earlier diet drugs were often associated with vanity or addiction, GLP ones are positioned as responsible medicine, promising relief rather than restraint, but to understand why the deployment of GLP ones as fascistic requires turning to fronts for knowns account of black flesh under colonial surveillance. Okay, I'm not sure that you're even on the catch that because technically the words are English, but the ideas are bizarre. This guy at this DSA conference clay is saying that fat phobia is fascism and is in fact a form of racism and colonialism because you got to wrap in all the isms and the gen I had never heard this term before.

10:13The genociding of fat people, but GLP ones, the medical reality is that being very fat is actually slowly killing you, which is a very bad thing, but this is where they are now claim. I don't think you could find it on the one hand, it's hilarious and crazy, those two things, but on the other hand, it's also indicative of things that just plainly make life better, socialist hate. Because if things are getting better, they don't have the base they need, which is full of people of resentment and seething with anger at the system around them. Yeah, I mean, it reminds me of the argument that not only is it something to be celebrated when you're trans, any opposition to being trans is also seen as genocide. So that is one of the reasons why the trans community has become so militant because they see any repudiation rejection or obstacle that is put in place to someone becoming trans, that in some way that is a direct assault upon their ability to exist.

11:17I don't know, I'm not generally very favorable of the use of genocide, but if we could eliminate all fat people in the world, wouldn't that be an incredibly good thing? Just based on health outcomes, if you look, everybody can see it. Can we genocide cancer? I mean, if we could get rid of all cancer, I guess it would be a good thing. That would be a good thing. Genocide in cancer, although that doesn't really make sense. And that would be a good thing. Yes. So it feels a little bit like madlibs where you're just kind of putting in different phrasing to decide that something is incredibly offensive. I think the GLP ones is one of the most optimistic things that is going right now because if people are in better shape, their health outcomes are far better. The cost of health care is far better. And those people who need actual resources that are sick with, as you just said, cancer or sick with some form of truly aggressive illness that demands a treatment would be more likely to be able to get them, which would be far better across the board.

12:24When it comes to outcomes. So to me, that is just it is kind of a strange world that we're in. But then again, we're in such a strange world, buck that as I was flying into Washington, DC today, I was watching video of the Lindsey Clancy attorney begging president Trump for a pardon for, which is bonkers. Bonkers, the fallout of the Lindsey Clancy case, by the way, hope everybody had great Labor days. I'm up here for the tunnel that towers 9, 11, 25th anniversary memorial event, which is taking place as we speak at the White House this morning. It was. And and we'll be doing a gala dinner to raise money for all of the people that they're doing great work for. But this is the world we enter as the Labor Day weekend is officially over buck. We've also got about 60 days until the midterms. There's lots of data coming out about exactly how the Senate and the house pictures look all that is underway. And you're going to have no idea that this is happened.

13:28But the South Eastern Conference in much less serious news, but in one that is equally crazy is now talking about expelling LSU from the conference. That news just came down this morning as I was in the airplane. So I don't even know what might happen during the course of the three hours that were on the air today. Crazy stuff is happening in in every direction. I did see that a random blonde female. Yes, SEC football fan became Insta Famous just for existing at an SEC football game. This is a remarkable thing. I didn't know this is absolutely correct. This is neither happened to you nor me. But I've been on television a lot. And maybe it just hasn't happened for me at buck. I haven't become famous for being incredibly good looking yet. I still think my day may be coming. But so far it has not happened yet. Fingers crossed maybe today. Maybe today is the day. Lots of wacky things happen. Maybe people are going to decide who's really good looking at Clay Travis guy. So the latest was quite a big is that you had a cameraman and an ass which was an Ole Miss. Is that right?

14:31Ole Miss. Yeah, in Nashville Ole Miss was playing against Louisville a pretty blonde girl went on television. The funniest part of this part is she was just existing. She didn't like go on tell. Hold on. Oh, yes. She was just in the crowd. They just found her in the crowd. And the cameraman was like you are like an angel sent from heaven. We're just going to pan on your face for five seconds. And now she's famous. I will say this the funniest part of all this buck has been the number of people making the argument that I think is true. Which is you know, Lapita Nguongo was Helen of Troy. There are a hundred way better looking Helen of Troy's on every SEC campus right now. Welcome back in here to clay and buck so we have a lot of politics talk about because this week we have the midterm R and C convention and that is something that is well timed given the well intentionally because the midterms are coming up. And I want to talk about some of that also some really interesting data that will get into maybe today maybe later this week but just that the job market right now clay you and I were texting about this the job market is tough for recent college grads fantastic for people trying to get in on the trades. And I don't want to pivot right now into discussion about data centers certainly don't want to pivot in a flock cameras because they're very passionate feelings on these that don't necessarily align with where I am or where clay is respectively on them.

19:53But I will say on data centers a lot of electrical unions now among other trades are saying yeah we would love the high paying job of helping to set these things up there are these skills you know there are machines and things that are being built right now robots and an AI and all this that are going to make some white collar jobs more efficient which means less of the jobs. But for actual making stuff in the physical world that is a very high demand thing let's come back to that though clay because one thing that I did I did see this morning when I was doing the read on a reading for the show and people fall very passionately last week about Lindsey Clancy. Hey Buck hold on a sec let's get to Lindsey Clancy in a moment but we tease that Abdul El Sayed 9-11 take. I thought you wanted that for the next the top of the next hour let's do it here I think I said we would do it when we came back.

Cut 19 out there is Abdul El Sayed you know that there's this argument that people did not celebrate 9-11 Buck you have talked about it at your college that there were people celebrating in the wake of 9-11 immediately happening and El Sayed had tried to constantly talk even in the recent terror attack that we saw at the Jerusalem synagogue he has constantly said hey hurt people hurt people and then he tries to apologize for the timing on that that was in the southeastern Michigan synagogue attack here he is buck on the earth to audio because he said everything under the sun.

21:59Here he is saying look we were we were harmed on 9-11 but we also harmed a lot of other people listen to this 9-11 scarred our country in profound ways but what we did after 9-11 scarred millions of other people when we talk about 9-11 we often fail to send them. I just don't think this is going to play in Michigan Buck and I don't know how many people are going to hear and again there's these audio clips I don't know if this is off some form of documentary or audio podcast that he did can we play that one more time Buck you and I have had to sit in empty rooms and read our own books and this sounds to me like he's reading off a script so I don't even think that Abdul El Sayed can claim hey you know what I'm saying. You know what maybe I just in artfully spoke here this is intentional and again it's from his own podcast our team is saying but you know this a lot of people who do podcasts they actually just read off of the teleprompter yeah and so listen to this this doesn't sound like a normal conversation it sounds like he is actually reading an argument again the scarves of 9-11 yeah we got scarred but really the big story here is we've scarred other places too.

23:16We've scarred our country in profound ways but what we did after 9-11 scarred millions of other people when we talk about 9-11 we often fail to send them. So here's the question Buck how much do you think the average voter in Michigan is becoming aware frankly of how radical Abdul El Sayed is is it cutting through the noise as we sit here 60 days out or most people in Michigan still trying to defend the fact that Michigan won a game that they shouldn't have won because they can't get it. They put an extra second back on the clock and everybody in Michigan knows about that that's a shot at you Wolverines but they don't know anything about what's going on in this actual Senate race. Well I'm glad that whatever analysis I give here is going to be completely tuned out because you just rage baited all of our Michigan listeners with that comment so I could I could sit here right now and come up with the most brilliant thing since paracles giving the funeral oration or whatever and it doesn't matter because Clay trolled you. But on the Abdul El Sayed issue first of all I do find it is the anniversary of 9-11 the 25th anniversary of 9-11 this week and we'll be talking about that a lot for of course obvious reasons and giving our remembrances of all this but Clay there is something here that I I notice and I can't let pass which is that Abdul El Sayed to appeal to the Muslim block.

24:44Muslim block of voters in Michigan has to express all this sympathy there's there's a solidarity with the Islamic nations and Islamic peoples outside of our country after 9-11 where that's where his first sympathy goes or that's where his he said to center them in the conversation so when we're thinking about 9-11 we shouldn't think about the almost 3000 Americans killed on that day. But I'm not sure if it's a kill 1000s and 1000s more by the way they wanted to kill 100,000 people if they could have they wanted the towers to be full they wanted to run a plane into the capital building they wanted to kill far more than they were able to but the real problem. This is a bit like what you see with Israel October 7th by the way in the Hamas response the real problem isn't the massive terrorist sneak attack on a civilian population it's the mean way we respond to that. And I just want to point out that if the fighting against terrorism is the cause of terrorism we've lost before the first bullet actually flies if any fighting against these barbarians is going to be a constant hang ring hand ring from our people oh my gosh.

25:58Wars hell don't start wars you can't win there should be some factions of the Islamic world who should learn that maybe they've learned at the hard way maybe they haven't learned that enough don't start wars you can't win. True of Hamas true with al-Qaeda we don't often think about winning the war against al-Qaeda and I know that we think about the occupation of Iraq by the Iraq's actually this is crazy rocks. Kind of muddling along doing okay it's not great but it's better than it's better than it was. Afghanistan that that's we took a big L there with the Taliban completely taking over no way around that but we did clear out Iraq I mean al-Qaeda first I just think clay we have to always remember that if we accept this framing of the issue which is that the way that we responded to the terror attack is the real problem especially the anniversary we could not 11 you are essentially seating everything that is valuable and beloved and worth fighting for in your country before you've ever even entered the fight. Because they anyone else can just attack you and know that the real problem is going to be the response to it of dual al-Sahed bringing back here to the quote of dual al-Sahed says this stuff because it plays well with the people he wants it to play with he says this to the Muslim voters of Michigan to get them all oh we can trust him he's one of us and then he's going to turn around for the you know the sort of white middle class Michigan voter Michigan families.

27:25And tell them I'm just here to make groceries cheaper for you and hope that they don't care about what he says about not you see what I mean that that's the game. No I think you're 100% right and this is why I said whenever he's going around a meeting with Jewish thought leaders as he's trying to do now to prove that he's not anti-Semitic the question that you could ask in dearborn I think of any Arab voter in Michigan is do you think of dual al-Sahed hates Jewish people and they would say yes they would say yes. Because they see the evidence that he does and then he goes out and he genuine flex at the altar of Israeli leadership and tries to convince enough Jewish lifelong Democrats to continue to vote for him even though he is the instrument of their demise. Here's a crazy stat for you buck on the 9-11 and it's Friday is the 25th anniversary for those of you out there. What percentage of people in America buck do you think were born I don't know if you've seen this stat yet.

28:26What percentage of Americans today were born after 9-11? I this is one where I could give you a horribly off number like I I this staggered me one third. I was actually was going to say 20 30% so I wasn't going to be that you're going to be close one third but so as we sit here 25 years later what I'm dual else I had is doing and what a lot of people are doing in the larger American universities they're doing the norm McDonald's which was which every now and then echoes three. Which is turning as mom Donnie tried to do remember when mom Donnie talked about his aunt and how she was discriminated against in New York City and then no one could find the mom Donnie aunt that he was talking about know how that story has vanished and there's talk about should he or should he not show up. Did you see what he did when he signed a proclamation about 9-11 he had just tish the head of police commissioner pass it to a 9-11 celebrant.

29:28Someone who was when he signed the the the the the the the the form. They know what they're doing. And it is so diabolical because they're clearly telling people who hate Jewish people and believe America was it fought on 9-11. I see you I hear you I'm one of you but then if you pointed out they disclaim it and say wait a minute. You're just being biased against Muslim people this has nothing to do at all with what clearly the message is being sent. I mean if you went around and did a real poll of what American Muslims think of Hamas by the way it would shock people. None of this shocks me because for a while the NYPD was surveilling a whole lot of mosques in the city and I was a part of that program and know exactly what was going on there active criminal cases happening in those mosques which is why the surveillance going by the way it wasn't the mosques themselves it was the criminal predicate inside of the mosques from terror cells are point being. When you see enough and you hear enough you know what's being said in some of these communities about Jews about 9-11 and there is this make believe are there patriotic and and decent and wonderful Muslim Americans of course a lot of them.

30:40But are there within that community is there a problem when it comes to Jews is there a problem when it comes to you know people who are far too quick to excuse the actions of al-Qaeda or explain in some context the actions of al-Qaeda or for that matter Hamas October 7th or al-Qaeda 9-11 the answer is yes there are. There's just like there's far too much jihadist terrorism emitting from within the where there was for many years emitting from within the Islamic community that's not to cast this version on the entire community but as to look at the reality and the numbers and the facts and just say what is true out loud so Abdul al-Sayed is playing the game that so many of them have played and I don't know if it's going to blow up pardon the expression in his in his face in this election cycle the way that it might have previously because people have for gotten a lot of people have forgotten to your point about when people were born after 9-11 we didn't know when the next attack was going to be correct and I was in C I C T C by the way so I remember there are a lot of

31:44afforded attacks people don't realize this that were spectacular as the way they would meaning mass casualty after 9-11 they were trying to bring down more airliners once we started flying planes again they were they've tried if you start to add up the tally the dozens the hundreds of major Islamic terror attacks against this country and our allies around the world a lot of them ended up happening unfortunately plays like the Bolly bombings and but you you see this and you say to yourself we were at war with a with a big section of an ideology of a religious tradition and things have come down now but things were really rough back then and and things were very uncertain and we had a lot of a lot of cleaning up to do all over the world against enemies who really just saw to eradicate us so this is this is we'll talk about this a lot this week

32:44play with 9-11 the remembrance of my problem is I think a lot of people either now have forgotten or never even really knew what it was like and you know this I know you're a ton of towers event tonight so it's it's particularly on your mind in the minds of Frank so on all those there lost all those brave NYPD and firefighters and of course all who are trying to help were heroically in the buildings we also just lost a lot of our fellow human beings in the towers in the Pentagon and the planes so I remember you remember we are part of the 9-11 generation so we very much remember there are a lot of people now who are thinking that they know something about this and they really don't and they really don't understand the full scale of it's a war remind people of it this week we certainly have a lot of veterans listening by the way whose lives were changed because they signed up and they went out there and they fought.
