And here we are, DNR with you on a Friday.
We wish it was a football Friday.
We got a lot going on.
Is there any St. Patrick's Day that I missed out on?
No, right?
No, I think today is just a day to celebrate, celebrate, we're in green.
Celebrate green.
You know, it's not easy being green.
It's not easy.
Well, I'm a Jets fan.
I know.
Trust me.
Yeah.
No, I know, you know, that sounds like, and we're not going to really launch off into
you.
It sounds like the Jets, maybe somewhat fascinated by Ty Simpson, maybe while you did T's,
you did T's yesterday that we'll talk about that today.
So there you go.
And there you have it.
I don't want to talk about that.
Maybe that's why I'm wearing the green today.
Maybe I was paying off your T's for you.
You know what?
This is why you're the ultimate teammate, and I'm solely the Bozo.
No, maybe that's why that ball more than a little NFL because the Jets are going to have
a private workout with one Ty Simpson, we're going to do that tomorrow.
And here we are.
Yeah, pay off my T's.
Yeah, he did his right.
You can't say I don't pay it off.
It's a full day T's.
I love it.
Yeah, I couldn't sleep last night because the Bozo commentary.
It bothered me.
It bothered you.
It bothered me.
It did.
Yeah.
It told Cassie all about it.
I think about how I feel.
We meet with a prospective partner starting up beautiful partnership, and he calls it all
the athlete, the gorgeous athlete, and the Bozo.
I know.
Sometimes they play the athlete and the Bozo.
Our Jets was getting very upset.
RJ, do you get the sense that maybe that's what Dave was giving off?
He thought that this, how could he actually ask a question like this?
Maybe this is part of like the Bozo routine that he does?
I think he has a lot of respect for Dave.
No.
And I think the question caught him.
So that's how we know you're lying though.
Yeah, the question caught him so often.
You know, you know, you know, he doesn't have a lot of respect to me.
For me, he referred to me as the Bozo.
But I think he thinks to Rick's point, you're playing the bit.
He's like this man who asked that question, he just, he's, he's, he's in character.
That's what he believes.
I don't think the question was bad because, because no fully functional person would be
like, Hey, how hard is that thing?
How hard is that thing to claim?
No disrespect to my thinking of the Bozo.
Wow.
That's why we doing this right now.
I bet there is, I was going to start the show saying there is nothing you could do today
that's going to put me in a bad mood.
Nothing.
I didn't care the mix lost.
What?
Why not?
I know Ray doesn't.
Ray doesn't think it's a big deal at all.
Ray, I asked him earlier.
He just struck the right off.
And every excuse in the book doesn't matter to me.
And you know exactly why it doesn't matter to me because I got to listen to these two.
Yesterday, tell me how the Yankees are going to go 162 and 0.
They're all excited.
And then my team comes out against Paul Schienz and got anything less than ending.
No.
Two thirds of an inning because he raised over a hundred.
That's what I'm talking about.
That's right.
Oh, my God.
So, uh, Peralta, you know, two run homers, soft two run homer too, because when we hit
that boy, like, all right, there we go, that's one out, leaves the park and immediately
my thought is, oh, my God, they're going to lose.
You saw how you're going to score three runs against this guy.
Okay, but here's the thing though.
As excited as we were about Peralta, the second Lyle hits that home run.
Remember what they said during the broadcast?
What happened to him last opening day?
He was on the mound for the whole torpedo bat thing.
Right.
Yeah, I was like, oh, no.
It's going to be one of those days.
Right.
Well, I had the same thought.
And then the home run, you're down to nothing.
You start to think like it couldn't have gotten off to a worst start.
No.
Not against Paul Schienz.
Not like that.
You give Paul Schienz Paul Schienz.
No.
He's, if not the best pitcher in baseball, the second or third best pitcher at all of baseball,
guys in animal.
He was great in the world baseball class again against, you know, great competition.
And you know what he's capable of.
And to go out there, and I know that a couple of balls were misplaced in centerfield.
I do.
Oh, still.
Uh, O'Neill Cruz is, he's, he's, that's kind of butcherish out there in centerfield.
Right.
Throw some sunglasses on bud.
Well, he doesn't, he might not like sunglasses.
Well, I mean, I, well, I don't like watching you, I don't like watching you lose balls
in the sun.
Well, I don't, I don't like, you know, driving through the city at four o'clock in the
morning.
But sometimes you got to do things you don't like to do.
Right.
I like to be, I like to be in bed right now.
I got to show up and I got to go to work.
Doesn't like, I mean, listen, if you're, if you're hauling in baseballs across the outfield
and it's like he doesn't like sunglasses, okay, I find that to be odd because it's
very sunny.
But if he can make it, you can't do it, buddy.
He missed playing everything.
I mean, he, he came in at ball was right over his head.
Then the other one, I mean, he went into the last second to put his glove over his face
so he could sexually see it.
Luckily, I mean, listen, good for us.
But hey, I mean, again, they ended up finally coming up with a stat as to like, you know,
how bad this was actually for schemes because you've never seen anything like this before.
No.
And it's like, wow, I mean, could this go, could this have gone any better?
For why it's essentially a new team, right?
Like, I mean, the, the, the nine position players, there's five new ones, right?
I mean, you got guys you haven't seen, you haven't seen the right and to have it turn
out the way that it turned out and then to top it off, kind of like the, the cherry on
top of it was we're all excited about Carson Benj.
His first couple of bats.
He looked overmatched.
I don't know if he's nervous or whatever it is.
He's a bit understandably so completely, listen, completely.
He ends up hitting the home run.
I mean, I think, and again, you don't, you don't know, I think you're going to fall in
love with him.
He seems like the kind of kid that's going to be really easy to root for.
Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, I would, I'd watch some of his, uh, watch some of his games in the spring.
I was excited and he deserved everyone's like, well, what are we waiting for?
And then it turns out we're waiting for it because we want to make it a fun story and
everyone to see the K.
I don't know why that turns you off so much.
Well, it doesn't turn, it doesn't turn you off.
I don't know why they're calling them into the clubhouse or going out to the mound.
No, because now we're doing the one up thing, the team, well, no, because now we're
doing the one up thing.
Now it's like, okay, I'm going to go, I'm going to come up for a mound visit and tell
you, and surprise you on the mound.
What's next?
I like these things.
Yeah, but it's just, now we're doing like, uh, let's get, let's find a better moment.
Next thing you know, there's a hand on the skateboard that's coming out to, to announce
that you know, I don't, I don't like that.
I don't know.
I want that, that Burj Kretschmer guy.
I don't want that.
I don't, I don't need any of that stuff.
But I like those when, when it's like, they tell you that you made the team or they,
they tell you in some special way or RJ Ray, are you guys anti or pro like that fun way
of telling kids that they made the team?
I like it.
I don't mind it at all.
Right.
See, Ray, you know, you know what you are, you're the Grinch, who is what?
You said Ray.
No, I'm at Rick.
I'm not the Grinch.
I'm not the Grinch.
I'm not the Grinch.
No, I'm not the Grinch at all.
I think that we're all trying to figure out what the hell is going on.
Why have they announced that Carson Benches on the team yet?
Because I want to have the fun, the fun moment because they wanted to have the fun moment.
Yeah.
Is that for his benefit?
Is it for their, their own social media benefit?
What, which one?
Um, I don't maybe both.
I probably both.
Okay.
So, so what's wrong with that though?
It's nothing wrong with it.
It's nothing.
I don't need you going out to the mound though.
I'm doing it.
I think that's a great story.
Stop it, please.
What?
I think you're in the minority.
That's fine.
I don't care.
Okay.
That doesn't bother me.
Okay.
That's, that's a, that's a forever moment now when you tell your kid, hey, they called
me and said, you made the team right call someone in the, call someone into the office
and telling them and filming it is, that's great.
Right.
It's a moment half of the rest of your life.
But now we're, now it's turn to, hey, how, how can we, how can we one up this one?
Let's walk out to the mound and tell them, I don't have a problem with it at all.
Well, I just, I mean, I think it's an extra special moment.
I think I actually, when I saw that, it's contrived.
It's a fake moment.
I don't know.
You're doing it because you want to try to one up with it.
I don't think so.
When I saw it the other day with, you don't think so.
I was like, oh, this is really cool.
You don't think so.
You don't think I was the thought.
I didn't think so.
I didn't think so.
Okay.
That was just in, that, that just in the moment was like, you know, what you should do
right here?
No.
I'm not saying that he's on the mind.
No, I'm not saying that he's on the mind.
But, but so what if it's planned?
It's a nice moment.
It's a cool moment.
It's a forever moment.
I'm not saying it wasn't scripted, but why is it such a bad thing even if it was scripted
like that?
I don't think it's a bad thing.
I mean, I'm not saying it's a bad thing.
It's great for the kid.
It's awesome.
Okay.
It's just, I mean, it's, it's, I know why they're doing it.
We understand why they're doing it.
It's not because they're like super excited to make this great moment.
It's great.
Yeah.
It's very self-serving.
I think it's, I think it's self-serving and I also think it's, it's to make the moment
special for the person.
I think it's, I think it's, it's some of that with a lot more of, hey, let's, let's
really make a moment here.
Yeah.
I've, I've also been, I've also been in the business.
So you would have hated that.
No.
I would have been, I would have been pumped that I made the team.
Also I mean, I don't need to be used as a prop, like this is my, it's my moment.
Like this is like, this is the biggest day of my life.
I don't need you to, to, to use it to prop up how great you guys are.
Look at how awesome we are.
I don't, I don't think it's propping up how great we are.
It's, look at how special we made this, it's exactly what it is.
I don't see it like that.
It's the same thing as all these parent like that, that have their kids do stuff on video.
How great my kid is.
Look how great parent I am.
That's what it is, man.
I don't see it like that.
I don't know how you, I don't know how else you could see it.
I, Ray, do you see it like that?
It's a great moment.
They don't need to, they don't need to play, they don't need to, there's no reason outside
of certain, like the self-serving thing like, hey, look at how awesome we are is to, to
film me getting told I made the team.
I think you make it more memorable.
It sounded like you were going to say something else there for a second.
How about this, film it and give it to me.
No one else needs to see it.
It's my moment.
I, I get where Rick's coming from.
I, I can see here we go.
No, no, no, no, because I agree with you, I like the moment, I like the moment and I
think Rick does too, but Rick, clearly Rick feels that the whole thing is contrived
and it's all for show and it's not really for a club, they don't care about you.
It's not actually for the players where it's for them, because they don't care about
you.
The first one's to cut you and you think it would get it with, with Volpy, just all about
Aaron Moon.
Yeah, but it was more private, you know, like it was filmed, but like the actual like thing
was done in private.
Again, I don't mind it, but, but I like understanding where Rick is coming from on this.
And RJ, you're, you're of the, it bothers you a little, but you're okay with it or you're
your, your Rick side or your my side.
It didn't bother me.
Do you like it?
To, to be clear, I'm telling you, it doesn't bother me.
But you guys have also not been in those situations where you've been called into the office
and told the other side of this or told, hey, we love you so much and you're great and
you made it and then turn around and send me down.
You know what this is?
Like your piece of garbage.
You're a piece of garbage with you.
No, but this is the reality.
Like, then this is fun now.
It's awesome.
Hey, they must really love me until they don't, they don't, they told business now and
they don't like say, Quan Barkley realized, this is business.
They're all full of bleep.
I may have some good relationships, but like when push comes to, when push comes to shove,
this whole relationship is transactional.
And the second I can't help them, I'm, they're done with me.
That's what bothers me about it.
All right.
They partake in my moment and then they'll be the first one, then they'll be the first
ones to give me the other side of that moment whenever it suits them best business.
That's what it is though.
That's what it is because it's business.
Okay.
So don't make how this though.
Don't make this big thing where it's so it's all, hey, we're so sensitive.
We love you.
This is great.
And then it, because that's all what it is.
Let's make believe.
All right.
Well, I like it.
You're, you're a little turned off by it.
Guys seem.
I'm not saying that I don't, I don't, I don't feel one way.
Like I'm not turned off by it.
I just, I mean, you need to recognize why they're doing it.
They're doing this is, this is for their benefit.
This is to create traffic to their social medias.
It's not because it's your moment.
It's because it gives them content to post.
Okay.
But that's what it's about.
I think it's cool.
I think it's nice.
I think it's a great moment for these players that are finding out that that's the way
they make the team.
Well, how else do you think they find out by like carry a pigeon?
This is how you find out.
This is not, this is not new.
You just get to see it now.
They, they typically don't go out to the mound until guys, well, that's because now it's
a fun game.
How can we do it?
I don't like it.
I don't like it.
I don't like it.
I don't like it.
Maybe we'll have to, someone jump out of the, of a helicopter a plane and deliver the
message.
All right.
All right.
I mean, and when we talk about the met, here's the thing that I know, and again, it's
one game.
You're crazy.
It's great.
It's awful.
It's brutal.
Whatever.
It's beautiful.
This lineup has the potential to be a real problem, a real problem.
All right.
There's more athleticism here.
The bot.
You have Alvarez hitting ninth in this lineup.
And again, I know he had a good game yesterday.
You don't know that's going to hold every single night, every single day.
But I'm just saying, first glance, my initial reaction with this team is this lineup has
a chance to be really, really special.
I don't disagree with you.
I think that the thing we focused on the most and it may be part of it was the emotions
involved in it was what you were losing with Pete, like the, the power, like the home runs
that you get to lose with Pete.
And then you look at some of, I mean, what Polanco did in the combination of him and
Bishet.
I mean, it's different.
It's definitely a different lineup.
It's going to make you work.
It's more of a bat the ball.
It forget.
I mean, Alvarez batten nine.
That was semi and batten seventh.
It's amazing.
Right.
I mean, if it was semi and seventh, if Buster had what, did Buster have Carson Benz being
the MVP?
Rookie of the year, yeah.
You got that.
And then you have Alvarez if he stays healthy.
Right.
You have Alvarez.
79.
I have a feeling.
And again, I know it's your initial like for eight inches.
I have a feeling people.
If he stays healthy, you're going to really like Lewis Robert or Luis Robert.
Yeah.
You're going to like him very much, Bishet.
That at bat was unbelievable.
I know it ended in a strikeout, but I mean, he just you couldn't you couldn't get to him
in that at bat.
He's going to make your work like you mentioned, um, Polanco and the cleanup spot spot.
I don't think it's like your typical cleanup guy where you're like, oh, God, get, hey,
everyone getting the room quickly.
Polanco's up.
But I just think he's a good solid batter and you're not going to have that kind of start
this year from Soto.
He's going to start in a much different way.
We got Lindor was on base every time yesterday.
I just my first that match game was, this is going to be, this is going to be a good lineup.
What do you mean Soto?
It's not going to get off that kind of start.
Did you mean Soto when you said that last year, he was awful.
Oh, last year he was awful.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I thought you meant the game yesterday.
No.
No.
No, last year, you got to get it off to the same kind of start that he did last year,
this year.
I don't think so.
Right.
I got to believe that that was locked in.
Just new scenery.
Right.
So I'm not worried about that.
Lindor, you know, that's what you want for me to lead off guy is just to beat on base.
And he was on base and he was on base constantly yesterday.
A lot of traffic on the base pass.
So, you know, again, it's hard to sit here and analyze one baseball game unless it has
massive meaning.
But one game, one start, got to one of the best pitchers in baseball and met her one
to know.
Well, I mean, listen, it's not, it's, it's one game of 162, but I think that when you
go into, and I don't care what the sport is, when you go into, you know, the first game
of the season, and you watch the team throughout the spring or preseason and have some questions.
And those, and those questions are a problem in the first game.
I think there's reason.
I think you're well within your right to be like, oh, I don't know if I love this.
Like if, and it wasn't, it wasn't pretty.
The throw over for that from Bichette to Polonka, but Polonka came off, made the tag.
That was not pretty.
It wasn't great.
They got the job done.
Like if he's booting the ball around a third or Polonka was booting the ball around
at first, like, or things that you thought could be a problem.
If that game's close and Devon Williams comes in and blows a save, like then they'd be
like, oh, like, I, yeah, this was my fear.
Now it's, it's, you know, showing itself in, in game one, I'll tell you what I did
what, of all the analysis and a lot of positivity and, and all that, um, Polonka would first
look a little, I mean, on the ground balls, he was kind of booting those all over.
Now he made the plays, but it didn't look easy and it didn't look seamless.
No, I don't think it did either, but, and you said this yesterday, you have, you have
Brett Beatty who's taken a lot of, he's done a lot of work at first, done a lot of work
in the L field and then third base is his natural position, right?
So if Polonka does struggle at first base, I mean, just naturally you would have Polonka
was, you know, D.H. and then you could be Beatty at first.
Who's better defensively?
I mean, Beatty's not a D.H.
No, Beatty's a good fielder.
Right.
If he's not, you would want to find a way to get Beatty onto the field.
Right.
I just think that it was, I mean, it's game one.
You brought Polonka in to be a first baseman, right?
But Shets, I think there's a better chance that Beatty plays first and Polonka is your
D.H.
And Boshets, those are the third.
I, listen, after one, and it, and it's one game, I don't think that would bother me.
Well, the four works, it, it, it, it doesn't matter, I don't care the, the way you get
to the finish line.
Just get to the finish line.
Well, no, but it's just a bit, it's, it's not as easy as everyone makes it fit.
It's like, hey, just put the guy who's the worst, like the, the best bat, but the worst
fielder at first base.
It's not that he's hit.
You can hide guys a little bit.
You, you really can't hide guys, you know, you put, I'll just put, put the guy that can't
catch the ball in right field.
Well, no, that's going to catch up to you.
That's why they can't play Jason Dominguez in the major leagues, right?
Like, I'll just put, he's not a good fielder.
Well, but that's, but that's because Jason Dominguez didn't hit, hit well enough to deal
with well enough to, to make sense to play a guy with a bat, right?
Right.
Right.
Right.
So, but I mean, you have options, which is good.
I mean, Brett Bates is a nice piece to have, if Brett Bates hits and you have the ability
to move him around, it's great.
And they sent Tommy fan before the game yesterday.
I don't know.
I saw that left.
You better watch out.
Fantasy football.
I know.
Ready.
Wish you get him into our league.
I don't want you to reach out.
You couldn't handle him in your league.
Why not?
I slapped him right in the, I slapped someone right in the face.
Because there wasn't a payment.
Yeah.
Well, I'm, I'm very, yeah, on time with my payments.
Well, I'm not everybody, not everybody at the station, who's worked at the station is
good with payments.
Right.
Well, here we go.
You would play slap that when you slap me.
Oh, maybe you do is forget them.
We said, we send him as a collector.
Maybe you hire him for your pool.
Yeah.
That could be dangerous for people.
Yeah.
Yeah, Sherry sent me the list last night of people that haven't paid.
Is it long?
Hey, this day and age.
Is it long?
Um, the list?
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
Um, yeah.
One, two, three, four, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, people haven't
paid.
But we're, we're halfway through the sweet 16.
Now, what are we doing?
Listen, I, I understand.
I'll tell you what, too, the benefit of Tommy Fam is, I'm sure there's a lot of people
those, what is those 12 people you just mentioned?
Uh, 16 on pay.
16 people.
Mm-hmm.
Mostly, they got to be sports fans, right?
Most of them.
I get it.
I don't know.
Well, let's just assume that their sports fans, Tommy Fam rings a doorbell.
You open it up.
You're like, well, we'll actually put him in his uniform, too.
He's in his match uniform.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, crap.
That's Tommy Fam.
And then what?
Well, do you think you sent him to the house?
You opened the door and he says, excuse me.
You haven't paid.
He gives you like the, it's gonna, or you open the door and he just whopps.
Yeah.
Whopps you.
Whop.

It is kind of wild though, that Raymond loves his dad the way that Raymond loves his dad,
and Raymond roots for the cowboys in the Yankees and his dad roots for the giant of the
meds.
You know what?
It's the biggest verbal slap you could have going.
I don't get it.
It doesn't make sense.
You have the kids that they want to be like antagonistic and whatever dad or my sibling
roots for, I'm going to go the other way, but I don't feel like that's Ray at all.
I feel like Ray's just the opposite.
Ray's kind of, there's a real reverence there for his father.
He has the ultimate respect for his dad.
His dad likes X and Ray very stubbornly likes why?
It's, it is kind of wild.
Raymond, would you like me to like at some point have just changed?
I think that would look way worse.
I'm serious.
Okay.
I think so.
Okay.
I think so.
I think so.
I think so.
Okay.
I think so.
Okay.
I think so.
I think so.
I think so.
Okay.
I think so.
Okay.
So I would be, as well, I find it very odd that you who really adore your dad, he shows a certain
path and you and your own volition, shows the completely different path.
Yeah, but it was in that as well.
It was just like this.
But it's still strange.
Okay.
I don't know what to tell you I think I've explained myself several times now.
Yeah, but why the Yankees though, I mean, did you remember the moment that you're like,
okay, I'm going to be a Yankees fan, do you remember what was I because I went to
way more Yankee games as a kid.
I was in like those summer programs that, you know, they were like summer camp type of
deals.
And we went to a couple of meds games, we would go to like several Yankee games all the
time.
So like it was like 93, obviously they didn't do it in 94 terrible nine, no, not terrible,
but they were, you know, like the Yankee stadium was not like what it is now, whereas
you'd always, you'd always pretty crowded like your dad never said to you, listen, Raymond,
you can go to the game.
It's fine, but just understand that you're a meds fan, you know, meds game, all right.
So maybe this is partly on him.
Yeah.
I think if he's going in my experience, because we didn't have a meds camp around here
from Milo, so we sent him to a Yankees camp and he got to go to Yankees stadium.
And then he got to see like the World Series trophies, he got to go on the field.
He met Austin right, all these different things that he got to do, I, I had to fight
to fight.
Yeah.
I had to do the same thing.
Ben actually went to Yankees camp.
Same thing.
And, and before he went to Yankees camp, I gave him the whole speech.
This is great.
You can go.
You can have a good time.
He met Matsui, the whole thing, but it's understood you are not a Yankees fan.
That's amazing that your kids made it out of that.
Is it a more amazing that I said that Milo went to Yankees camp?
And then Dave said like it was like a unique thought that Ben went to Yankees camp.
No, it's just amazing.
I said so did Ben.
No, you didn't.
Yep.
Arjun.
Have a take.
It wasn't.
And here we go.
You did not even hear me say that Milo went to Yankees.
I said so did Ben.
If you had shut up for a second, I don't listen to anybody else on the show and not be
tutin' your own horn like Yankees are.
You're over here calling people by the wrong name.
I don't think, I don't know if you're supposed to be talking about that.
Well, but I know I did that.
I was just, I made a mistake.
I, I would guarantee you.
I think you did also.
I said so did Ben.
But my point is you guys, you sent your kids into the, into the wolves dad.
We had no choice.
This is, this is like, I send in like, well, all, here's the thing.
No.
No, but by, but by, in addition to Milo, Ben also went to Yankees, but that's why it's
disappointed because by your own logic, if it had his spite, and if it's you, you wouldn't
have sent them to any baseball camp to begin with, that seems more online with what, who
you would have been.
No.
You were confident.
I'm just telling you that, that's not what happened.
I just made sure that I was a good parent in that moment.
All these friends were going.
He wanted to go.
He's a baseball kid.
So I said, okay, but I want it understood that under no circumstance, are you allowed
to root for the Yankees?
He comes back and says, I'm a Yankee fan.
No.
What happens?
No, it would have been a real problem.
And he's not.
And he loves the meds.
Still to this day.
So my parenting worked.
It feels like, you could correct me if I'm wrong.
Feels like this is a shot of raised dad.
I don't think this feels like raised dad let it get away.
And I think Rick says the same thing, but probably wouldn't say because he's scared.
I'm not scared.
I'm not scared at all.
I don't think Rick is the scared one.
I don't think that's, I think that, I think that, you have to make a decision.
I'm going to offer my children the opportunity to root for whoever they want.
If they fall in love with the team that they're passionate about, then they should do
their own thing.
I think that's really suspect parenting.
And then there's you that tells them that if, you know, Cowboys fans will push you
down.
And all sorts of crazy stuff.
Well, let's say I don't think that's crazy.
I, my life would not be where I am, what it is if my kids came home one day like that,
we were for the Cowboys.
I wouldn't.
Right.
But does Ben even, I mean, does Ben even care?
He like, uh, he doesn't care a ton, but he likes the Giants.
Like if you said to him, who's your football team?
He roots for the Giants, Alex roots for the Giants.
Is there any piece of you though that thinks that maybe if you gave Ben the opportunity
to root for whoever he wanted, but he doesn't have that opportunity, he's not allowed
isn't it?
It's not a system, but that's not good parenting.
Well, I think it is.
Well, RJ is an Antonio free to root for whoever he likes to root for.
Well, not right now.
Well, okay, five years from now, I think I love the Seahawks.
You're good with that.
No, but what am I going to do?
I feel like you were threatening to cut off, you know, communication and turn them into
what would you say to the day?
I would.
Or whatever.
Yeah, the people at the wolf people that grow their hair out and then just watch the
wolf people, whatever it took, whatever it takes.
You know, I do give you credit because you didn't send them.
It's like NW Wolfback.
You didn't send your kids to, you know, Cincinnati Red Camp.
You sent them to Yankee Camp.
RJ, how would we send our kids to Cincinnati Red Camp?
No, I don't mean geographically.
I just mean like it wasn't something benign that you weren't concerned about.
Of course, the other team in town, no, happen to have a camp.
So that's fault.
I remember, and Rick, you'll appreciate this, RJ, I don't know if you're there yet.
I went into his room and closed the door and had to have like a father's son talk about
this.
Like, okay, so mom and I have talked and we're going to allow you to go to the Yankees
camp.
However, under no circumstance, are you allowed to root for the Yankees?
And I want that understood.
I want you to give me a verbal guarantee right now.
And he's like, now, of course, Dad, I root for the Mets.
I look okay.
I understand.
But it was a real hard to hard conversation.
I do respect that.
I think there's a real chance though, no one your son and how much he loves baseball,
that if it had lined up the right way, right, wrong way for you, but right way for him,
where he's at Yankee Camp, as you know, Aaron Judge has turned into Aaron Judge, it would
have been tough to reel him back.
Well, there was no Aaron Judge at that time.
I would have been tough to bring him back.
Aaron Judge is a tough one.
This is probably eight years ago.
So if there was Aaron Judge, it wasn't this version of Aaron Judge.
I will say you caught a pretty good window because around then they had that one, the playoff
list season in there.
So I think you caught him at a good time, the Yankees.
Judge would just come in.
But it's not like, like just coming around and do the same thing.
Rick did the same thing.
He would have been, I mean, you told Milo, I'd be very unhappy if you were Yankees.
Well, no, I didn't.
I don't think I have like a shut his door and have a conversation with him.
I said to my wife, I was more with my wife, I was like, do we show, we want to do this?
She's like, what do you mean?
I'm like, oh, he's got buddies that are Yankees fans.
He's going to Yankees stadium.
He's wearing a Yankee uniform.
He's going to meet a Yankee player.
Like, is this a good idea?
What if he's a Yankee fan?
She's like, well, then he'll root for the Yankees.
He's like, no, no, no, no.
What do you mean, then he'll root for the Yankees?
It's so simple for her.
I was like, what are you crazy?
Yeah.
That's the thing.
It's so simple for them.
Like, I'll just then, then if you root for the Yankees, he roots for the Yankees.
No, then that changes everything.
Right.
Yeah.
I would just push him a little bit when we, hey, come on, let's watch the meds game.
How about this new meds jersey I just bought you?
And there you go.
Yeah.
Look, look who just showed up.
It's Keith Hernandez.
Keith, come on in.
Look who it is.
It's Matt Harvey.
Matt Thompson.
Right.
Did you really develop the friendship and the relationship with Harvey for you?
Or for Milo?
That's a good question.
That was before Milo, so it was for me.
Yeah.
I'd say you caught a good stretch because I missed a playoffs in 13, 14, lost in that
wild card in 15, I went to that game.
And then in 16, they also missed a playoffs.
You're coming off that stretch before they're back in the LCS.
So I think time was on your side there.
Maybe.
And fear.
Time and fear.
Yeah, fear of dead kicking me out of the house at age of nine.
Right.
Well, I'm not even exaggerating this.
If my kids walked in like that, I got a 63 on my math funnel.
That would be less upsetting to me than if they walked into the house like dad.
I root for the cowboys.
You can laugh.
That's funny.
Ha, ha.
That's the honest to goodness truth of how you promised me something right here today.
I mean, maybe for the God and then boys, maybe if by chance, by chance, one of your children
at some point falls in love with a, with a, whoever it is, they fall in love with.
And that person is a cowboys fan and their family or cowboys fans that we could, we could
have some, we could send a camera crew to watch that first, that first kind of like family
together experience, please.
Because it would be, I think it's going to be one of the greatest television programs
in the history of pro viral.
That would go viral all time to watch you all would be good.
They read movies about stuff like that with a parents meet for the first time.
Oh, would that be good?
I think it would be very simply Dave pulling the parents aside be like, let me tell you
something.
No, start saving.
Yeah.
They get me.
I'm not saying for any.
Are we splitting the wedding?
No.
I'll contribute nothing.
No, we're not splitting the wedding.
You're paying for the wedding.
But you could see, you'd be able to see, because they'd be dirty in real time, like in
getting yourself worked into a frenzy and it would end with something nasty like, and
let's be honest.
If there anything like you, who knows if this marriage works, so maybe start saving for
the divorce also.
No, I, that would be terrible.
Big moments.
Your kids probably going to be like, that Prescott, we know what that Prescott's like in
Rome.
Exactly.
Maybe your kid, you know, given up shules, bombets on themselves, like that in the big game.
Who knows?
Just a huge fight.
It's going to be Jerry where you don't want to spend the money.
What are you going to franchise tag the wedding?
That's right.
Oh, I never is not happy.
Well, I mean, that is funny.
The funny part is, not funny, why would be funny, it's because it's true, like we had
a legitimately big meeting, and the second, the second he tells you, you're a guy, he's
a cowboy.
He's like, yeah, I don't love that.
It's okay.
I didn't, and I don't.
I told you this, and I wasn't exaggerating.
I judge people based on who they root for.
I know, but you'd be willing to sacrifice that open for the integrity of you being a
giant spend and him being a Dallas Cowell.
I wanted him to just understand what he's getting into bed with here.
You root for the dirty, I mean, you're dirty, right?
They, you're telling us, I have real flaws in my life.
I root for the Cowboys.
Okay.
That's fine.
Let it be understood that I look down on you for that.
Well, I think some people want, like you bring in partners or you're doing business, and
I think the phrase that was used, oh, I would, I want the banter.
The thing is though, this isn't banter, this is the one thing.
I suppose it was getting very upset.
Yeah.
This is it.
Yeah.
There's no on and off switch.
Just happens all the time.
This is who I am, right?
Yeah.
How often would you say, I think Rick, you say you get this a lot, like all the time.
Is he, is he really like that?
Is that really truly who he is?
I think it's the most popular question that we get asked.
RJ, do you ever get that or no?
I used to.
I think people understand now.
People get it.
It's on just so that yes, he really is.
No one could put an act on, you have like no one could put an act on for this long.
It's too, it would be too much.
I'd be like the Lawrence Olivier of the act.
Right.
Like even Daniel Day Lewis, you can't be like, I got to get out of character at some point.
You can't be like in forever, you can't live as Lincoln.
I like things my way, my coffee, my schedule, and my treatment.

Well, it's one game, but yeah.
Well, I'm glad a nice day, too.
For it.
I did.
But that's why I don't like doing these because I'm sick in the head, too.
I'm like, oh, good.
I care, appreciate it.
I care, appreciate it a nice night.
You did.
You need pitch real well.
And then school was a little better.
But yeah.
There's too much baseball left to be doing this every single night.
Well, welcome to the world of competition.
Yeah, welcome to the world of Dave loves making picks is what it is.
That's fine.
I'll play your games.
I don't know why you're so anti-picks.
I'll play your games, though.
OK.
All right.
Listen, I don't know why you won a free breakfast yesterday.
Well, again, I mean, that's just that you decided you wanted to make a bet about it.
You are so confident.
I still can't believe that he's that heavy.
Well, we don't even know how actually like how heavy he actually is.
Yeah, he never responded with the actual weight, but he's like, yeah, I'm over 200 pounds.
Yeah, over 200.
I mean, RG similar height, RG, you got to be what?
30 pounds less than him.
Um, more.
150.
You're 150?
Yeah.
You're 50 pounds less than Rosenberg.
I suppose.
Wow.
Well, are you guys accurate?
Peter might be more.
The same height.
I don't think they call it morbidly now, though.
This again, you might be like an inch taller than me.
Maybe.
Wow.
5, 8, 2, 12.
Is it Alejandro Kirk?
That was not nice.
RG's put together nice, though.
Beautiful.
RG's got a nice build on him.
I think so.
I think that especially after listening to, uh, because we asked Brownie what he weighed
yesterday, and you were startled by his weight.
But then you look from the waist.
Ratcher carries it very well.
Well, because you look from the waist down.
Like he's got a thinner looking upper body.
But then once you hit the, once you hit waistline down, you can see that we were the
weights coming.
That's where he carries the weight.
Well, if you're going to carry the weight, you'd prefer it to be in the bottom half,
right?
I did.
It depends.
Yeah.
It depends on your presence, like your face or your, your body.
Well, right.
But if you got, I mean, if, if you're in short, so you got a big giant, I mean, big giant
cancels.
I mean, you don't want that either.
I guess.
But I think that's less, less of an impediment than just having a huge stomach.
I, you'd rather have fat legs in a fat face.
He fat.
The tough part about Brownie yesterday is one of you had said that he has childbearing
hips.
I said that.
Well, that wasn't me.
And Anthony walked around the corner because he heard it.
And I don't even know if you guys know this.
Anthony said, because this is something Michael Kale always says to him, at least it
didn't tell you your melted candle.
So he was just taking it from all angles yesterday.
Wow.
Poor bag.
He's the great who's been called the melted candle brancher by Michael.
Oh, boy.
Many times.
That's not nice.
So he just poor guy just sitting in a studio and that's what he, he wasn't just sitting
in a studio.
He was out in the world.
He was out by the, by the call from machine.
I don't think he was looking to be, you know, shaking down on his way.
Probably not.
But don't, don't give us the choice of words.
Anthony was on business in a studio.
Yeah.
He wanted to be in the mix, RJ.
Yeah.
Well, they're, I mean, he wants to be in the locker room.
It does make sense because they were, they were starting to unpack the food.
Kalandras yesterday.
Oh, that's why he was there.
Oh, people start circling.
You know, I'm glad you brought this up.
Why do they always bring all the good stuff when we're not there?
Well, it's lunch.
We're a morning show day.
Okay.
Okay.
And got, and God forbid they bring any food in like the nine o'clock hour.
Well, what are you going to eat?
No one's, I mean, what's up?
It's at the point.
I want to be invited to the party.
When do you think those people get to work, Dave?
Okay.
Right.
I'm not looking for you to all of a sudden play.
Johnny, let me practically look at this thing.
It's very hurtful that every time they bring food, they make sure it's not to us.
They're sponsoring the couch cast.
All right.
But we're not a show that like is going to indulge during, they during the show.
I mean, we don't, like we're not in that group of people of the second.
We get to the office.
We feel like we need to eat breakfast.
It's quick.
I mean, you have a couple eggs.
We're going to go to the protein bar.
That's it.
I mean, if I'm going to bring food to anybody, I mean, it bark eats full meals on the show.
Like you'll have pork chops and some mashed potatoes.
Right.
Full meals or show up or show up just as a show is starting and then have like a three minute
conversation.
He's a, he's a special treat.
So last night, the next, yeah, they, here's what bothered me.
And we've talked about this all year.
There was no sense of urgency.
They got beat up by, and this is an up and coming team.
I like to see them a lot.
They have some real young, solid talented players.
You got crushed on the glass.
Yeah.
And it just looked like to me, I don't know how you feel like the nicks were going through
the motions for a lot of that game last night.
Yeah.
I don't know if it's necessarily going through the motions as it is is one of the, again,
is this one of those teams that just stylistically is not a great, is not a great matchup for
the nicks.
It feels like anytime we play a team that's young, that's athletic, that gets up and down
the floor, it's not great for us.
Now, maybe that's part of it.
I mean, you want seven straight, but this again, I mean, this starts the, the little run
of games here after playing a bunch of teams that are under 500 that are actually good
teams.
And let's not, again, don't use what the Charlotte Hornets have done in the past to,
to make you feel like, oh, hey, it's the Charlotte Hornets, they've won 13 to the last 16
games.
He's the NBA right now.
That's a, that's it.
And I was just telling Ray, like the, the seven, eight spots in that Eastern Conference,
those are not layups in the postseason this year.
Well, no, I mean, that's if, I mean, that's if, again, look where Atlanta put themselves.
I think Atlanta's up to five now.
I mean, there's a chance that the way Charlotte's playing, they end up in, I mean, they
could be the six who knows.
Well, they're a real problem.
Yeah, they're a real problem.
Concaniple's a real problem.
He's going to, I mean, how old is he, too?
He had one year of Duke.
He's what, 19 years old?
I think he's 20 years old.
Yeah.
So he's 20 years old.
So he's a, I mean, Miller's a real good player.
They have a lot of talent on that team.
Conniple is shooting almost 44% from three.
He's, he's, he's absolutely terrific.
Yeah.
The jarring number is a 24 rebounds.
I think I saw that.
So it's that rebounded by 19.
I saw that this morning.
That's the fewest rebounds in a game.
The, the, the nicks have had since 2013.
Really?
So of like a decade plus since they've had that fewer wealth.
That's, I mean, you're grabbing six rebounds of quarters
what the nicks did last night.
Right.
And you were out done by what night,
you were minus 19 on the glass.
And you can't say, well, well, you didn't have
Karl Lenton Towns, well, you did.
Well, you didn't have Mitchell Robinson.
Well, you did.
Like there's no excuse.
You got humbled.
But I know what, what, what people are going to say.
It, well, you know what?
Let me know in this supposed season.
So I can't, be upset.
I can't be bothered.
I can't be annoyed.
Like I'm allowed to feel the way I feel.
Right.
I mean, you're allowed to feel the way you feel.
Again, I just, it feels like, it feels like you're banging
your head against the wall though.
Because until they show you, I mean, until you see this
or a matchup like this that is ends up being our downfall,
then you'll be justified.
Well, hopefully I don't say it.
Hopefully this, you know, I see it in the regular season.
I hope to God they get to about three weeks from now.
Flip the switch and they get to the post season.
And they take on, you know, in Atlanta, Charlotte,
whoever.
And it's like, oh, no, no problem.
I, I, I have real reservations.
I don't think getting through this Eastern conference
is going to be nearly as easy as a lot of people.
Well, here's the problem for you, okay?
If I mean, and not a problem from Ray,
because Ray, you know, said what he said,
he believes the next coming out of the East
they're going to be in the NBA finals.
I think your problem becomes that these same conversations
that we're having right now,
and they're probably even,
I think there was even more room going on last year.
We're having about the Celtics.
We're having about the Cavaliers.
And then we go into the series against the Celtics
and we win the series, right?
With, with the same foundation,
with the same core players, plus a deeper bench.
Like in theory, we're a better team this year.
I, and get it.
Like, is Detroit a better team this year?
Yeah, I think Detroit's a better team.
And then, I mean, part of the reason
we were so confident going to this year is
because we thought that the Swiss as Alan
would put it a gap year for the Celtics.
And that's not the case.
That's not the case.
So, and we want the two seed, right?
Like that's something we've discussed.
Like we really want the two seed.
Well, you made it a lot harder after last night now.
And that's not, is it Oklahoma City on Sunday?
Right, and then the Celtics just beat Oklahoma City.
Right, they did.
But you don't, you don't love your chances to win that game.
And then I think after that, you go to Houston.
So this idea that the next thing you're going to find,
that game against Boston is going to be
a massive basketball game.
I just think that the disconnect for you,
and I don't think I'm at your level,
but I'm somewhere between you and Ray,
maybe a little bit closer to you,
is I don't understand the mindset
of having this unbelievable opportunity, right?
And you haven't won anything, right?
You weren't in the NBA fight like you did.
You lost to, you lost to Indy last year.
You have this unbelievable opportunity
where Indy's, they're done, they're out, right?
How Burton blows as a kille's?
They've just, they, they're done for the season.
You got Boston trying to figure things out with,
with Tatum, we all believe that Tatum's going to figure it out
and they're going to be a real problem.
But the East is, is wide open, right?
Like, I mean, every week it feels like,
or every game it feels like a, you know, ESPN,
a little ESPN's analytics, or the odds are keep changing
every, you know, every day it seems like.
So this is, it's open, the East is open.
This is a great opportunity and let's face it.
These guys are smart enough to recognize
this may be the only opportunity for this group
to get to the NBA finals, because if they don't,
there's a real chance things change for them.
I don't know how you could, especially at this point
of the season, where you're not like fully ratcheted up.
Well, you're not in the dungeons of the season, right?
No, this is the first line.
This is the first game, 49.
All right, let's see here.
We have 30 plus games to go.
We know we're near, no, you're now at the finish line.
This is what I would think.
This is when you want to be playing your best basketball.
And last night, and I mean, the gaming
against New Orleans, the gaming against the Nets,
I know they're winning a bulk of these games,
they're not playing great basketball.
And you could have the mindset like,
and I'm not calling you out, Ray, like,
the mindset of Ray is, I don't care, right?
Like, just get me to the post season
and I believe they will answer the bell.
And that's fine.
But I see it differently,
and I don't love what I'm seeing right now.
Now, you get to game one, you destroy whoever you play,
you win that series handily,
and you do that a couple more times.
And then I'll apologize, I'll shut up, I'll be thrilled.
I just have reservations.
That's all I'm saying, is that I am aware of how, you know,
it looks like they're going through the motions right now.
Yeah, I don't know if it's necessarily going through the motions.
I know what you're saying, just because you played
a bunch of bad teams and they weren't impressive wins.
And now you hit this, you know,
this little stretch where you're playing some good teams, okay.
All right, now now let's, we got,
I mean, after the last night, we have nine games left.
Yeah, there's not a lot, you're at the finish line.
So we want to be at our very best.
And I really, I really, truly, genuinely, I want the two seed.
I don't know how you couldn't want the two seed.
Well, did they play last night like they wanted the two seed?
Again, I don't know if it's that or if it's,
because Jalen Brunson came out ready, right?
I mean, Jalen Brunson was good to start.
Like, so I mean, there was definitely like, hey, right?
I think we all, we were all paying attention.
We all get the, you know, we all, when you go into a locker,
and we have the, you know, the, whatever you want to call it,
the clippings of all, everything's going on in the NBA,
who's winning, what the record is, what, you know,
what Charlotte's done recently.
And they're all seeing the same things that we're seeing.
Like this team is playing really good basketball right now.
This team is young, this team is athletic.
They're going to go up and down, they're going to shoot threes.
They're going to guy that shoot almost 44% from three.
Like we got, we don't necessarily defend the three well.
Like, hey, let's be ready for this, because we are getting
to the end.
And we haven't, I mean, and we're not, we're not Oklahoma city.
No, right?
That's not who we are.
And we haven't done that yet.
Well, what have they done?
Um, I mean, they made it to a conference finals.
Right, which is, which is great.
And what you're excited about and what you'll remember
for a long time coming back and, and, and winning that series
against Boston down those 20 point deficits.
But I need more, I need this to be a successful postseason run.
Well, I forgot you, they, they need it to be, well, they need a
desperate, but, but for, for me, for my own, like, fandom and my own, okay,
heading in the right direction.
I need this to be a really good postseason run.
And then I got like, right, say, what are they going to go to the NBA?
I thought, okay, I hope you're right.
I really do.
Well, someone's going to be right, but I don't want to be right.
So now they put me in a really weird position.
Ah, yeah, but I mean, I would, I wouldn't want to do a show with you.
If you're just going to, well, I wouldn't do that brush things off.
Like, hey, this doesn't bother me or this doesn't make me nervous.
It does, but, and you know, two season bothers you to last night's game,
bothers you.
It does bother me.
I mean, being, you know, being down with it on 18 after three.
Yes, right?
That bothers me getting a rebound of the way they got out rebounded bothers me.
But I mean, in the grand scheme of things outside of it being a loss and not
helping our cause to get to two seed, right?
It doesn't, it's not going to ultimately matter.
Like, we're not going to go into this.
You're right.
So, okay, but let me ask you this.
And then why do we even talk about the next?
Well, no, because I'm with you.
And I think we should talk about the next.
But I think that people, a lot of people now, since we're, I mean,
nine games away from the playoffs starting, like, okay, there's nothing that they're
going to do.
They go out and blow out Charlotte.
It's not going to change my opinion of what they're going to do in the postseason.
We've seen a large enough sample size to know what their flaws are and to know whether
or not we, like, we truly feel if they're a championship team or not.
And I think part of the reason why you tend to be a little bit more critical is because
I think deep down in your heart, you don't feel a little, I know you don't feel the way
Ray feels.
I don't.
And that's what, I mean, but Ray feels the opposite.
Okay.
Good.
I hope he's right.
I hope he's right too.
I just, I think so, so magnetically, are you more pulled in the Ray direction or
the Dave direction?
I'm more, I'm more in your direction because I just think that there are the championship
teams have a certain mentality that I don't necessarily know if this, this next team has.
And that mentality would start to show itself late in the season where you're really trying
to make sure that you're put yourself in the best spot.
Right.
Because the two sheet, the two seed matter should, should matter to you because you have,
like I said, you haven't, you didn't win the championship last year.
You didn't, you know what I mean, like you didn't run through the playoffs.
So it's, I think having, you know, having Boston at home for game seven is a big deal.
