Huckabee visits occupied West Bank, Ukraine peace push

0:00Al Jazeera, podcasts. The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, is visiting a village in the occupied West Bank. Most of its residents are Palestinian-Americans. The trip follows an increase in Israeli settler attacks on Palestinian homes and the illegal seizure of their lands. About 80 percent of Palestinians living in Turmus-Aya, old U.S. citizenship, and regularly report settler attacks to the U.S. embassy. Some fly the American flag on their properties to deter settlers. Al Jazeera's Nida'ibrahim has been following developments in Turmus-Aya. Well he's been saying that the U.S. has no jurisdiction to be able to work on international soil. They don't have the possibility to investigate, but they have the power to influence. Huckabee did not say particularly how he's intending to talk to the Israelis, but the questions from the public, the questions from journalists also have been focusing on how

1:03they can be enforcing the accountability. How can the U.S. help Palestinians with getting their justice, with getting their rights back and how he can indeed influence Israel to stop these settler attacks. They've also requested one of the roads that have been closed by the Israeli army to be reopened by the Israeli forces. They've talked about how illegal Israeli settlement outposts have been increasing and expanding from the illegal Israeli settlement of Shiloh and... Israeli air strikes have killed three people in southern Lebanon. Another 23 are injured. The attacks hit several areas, including the districts of Tyre and Nabatiyya. The Israeli military confirmed the strikes, saying it was responding to a drone launched by Hezbollah. Israeli and Israel and Lebanon agreed to a ceasefire in June, but Israel has repeatedly violated it. Have you ever had the strange feeling we've been here before?
