A Po'J production. Hey, it's Katie Matten here, your new host of Your Morning Mantra. Today's meditation is about recognizing that missing a person, place or chapter of your life, doesn't necessarily mean you should return to it. Your morning mantra, I can miss something without wanting it back. Ease into a comfortable position and take a deep breath. Slowly stretch your neck, moving your head from one side to the other, releasing the tension, and let your shoulders drop. Take a deep breath in, and slowly let it go.
Put aside what you need to do today and take a moment for yourself. You deserve it. Sometimes we miss things we know were right to leave behind. A friendship, a relationship, a job, a home, a place, or simply an earlier version of our lives. And when the stouture appears, we can begin to question ourselves. Maybe things were better than, maybe I made the wrong decision, but missing something doesn't always mean you want it back.
Sometimes you simply miss a moment, a feeling, a memory, or the person you were at that time. You can remember something fondly without needing to recreate it. You can miss someone and still know they don't belong in your life anymore. You can miss an old chapter and still be grateful you turned the page. Two things can be true at once. You can honour what something meant and still know moving forward was right. Today allow yourself to remember without mistaking nostalgia for a reason to go backwards. Today's mantra, I can miss something without wanting it back.
Repeat to yourself either out loud or in your mind. I can miss something without wanting it back. Carry this calm with you throughout your day. You do not need to hold every worry. You do not need to predict every outcome. Just breathe and trust yourself. I'll see you this afternoon for our reflection.
I'll see you next time.
