1:00I've never heard a commercial for here in Seattle in 20 years. What? Seahawk sea hawk tickets. Apparently. Apparently you guys. I think it's not going to go to that. That little place that Levi Stadium. You got to sell tickets where we're advertising for tickets. Hills. And then the one that really stunned me. I surprise you're not doing the endorsements for it was the. Yeah, I asked for that. Yeah, I asked for that. They just said you look way too manly. No one would believe that you would need that product. So they've got to be. I wouldn't let me do it. But yeah, I heard your wife asked for it. Actually. By the way, speaking speaking of my wife, she had Jackson Smith and Jigba and the Seattle defense last night. I'm not happy at all at all. And she's beating me. And this is for like. It's a big one. This is for like a, you know, no holds bar dinner. And so your sea ox did not help me last night. The first question before we get into the game. And we just heard Kevin Harlan and Westwood won with that great interception call. Which by the way, you've probably seen it.

2:00The greatest part about that call is not actually the call. He's in a booth right next to like a Patriots booth. And they're all with their hands over their head like, oh, I mean, that's that's the greatest part of that thing. But we'll get into that in a second. What everybody wants to know is what's going on with Sam Darnel's hip. What's happening there? Well, yeah, so you know, that obviously there's a lot of things that you can, you know, the fear is is how long to be as it sees nending is it long term. Mike McDonald has his main press availability. At three today, he did his coach's show on the on the flagship today and kind of what they painted it pretty positive so far. So no fracture. They said, but I mean, there's laborums and all kinds of stuff. Yeah, you and I don't understand. But it doesn't sound like it's as bad as it could have been. Obviously there's a fear like it's, you know, like that's your, you're starting quarterback and there's a concern. I think it sounds like it bare minimum. He's got a lot of things to do.

3:00I'm going to miss the next game, which is at Arizona. So that's that's fine. Yeah, I mean, honestly, I just, they just make a trade for gardener or something. But yeah, they, they'll, then they go, then they go to Washington to pick on the commander. So I'm guessing he'll miss at least the next one. They've got the 10 days off, but we'll find out more at three o'clock. I always like this. Like, oh, we got to wait for the MRI and the CT results to come in. I, you guys have those. Yeah, I know. Come on, stop it. But yeah, well, we'll hear more at three, but it could have been worse for sure. It was weird because when it happened, we're all thinking near ankle. I don't know what you were thinking when you saw it, but it's like near ankle and ends up being a hip that he kind of jammed the leg into. So we'll see you nice, nice way to start the season. 4:00interception. I just can't even believe it. And you know, it looked a lot different from the Super Bowl. They weren't getting quite the pressure and all that kind of stuff. But in the end, and you know, it's funny. And I texted to this yesterday. I don't know why I thought this that whole drive. And maybe it was because he'd already thrown two interceptions. And it's not going to make up for that Super Bowl where, you know, Russ, they should have ran it and rust those the interception. But the whole time I'm thinking, you know, what would be two script ears if he threw an interception and you know, they got a bit of pay back there. And sure enough, he's going right and throws that interception. And it's like, dude, you already have the feel goal. You can't take that kind of risk and a hell of a play by Josh Job, who they just residing in the offseason. I mean, that was that was pretty impressive. What were you thoughts when you saw that whole thing? Well, I just there was so much that went on in that drive. You know, like they converted a fourth down. I mean, they had, I think Seattle had them had them at like second and 19 and third and nine and fourth and nine. And I think they had them down and then to rights two or three times and they couldn't get it done. They couldn't get them off the field.

5:00So, you know, I think most people in Seattle, I think in the same thing, like you're just hoping for overtime, right? Like you're just hoping they get to overtime, take your chances. And, you know, for for him to throw that is just inexplicable and so many levels. I know, I mean, I feel bad because Chris Collins worth is just a straw. You know, I mean, he spent three quarters just paying the picture of how incredibly great Drake may is and how they turn things around on that offense. And I'm just checking the scoreboard. I think they scored 10 points. So, you know, and but the three turnovers. You know, that's, I mean, that's what Mike McDonald does. That's what his defense does. And you know, for people that know, John comes on my show every week and we go back and forth, kind of like we're doing right now. And although I did answer the phone the first time at rang. John has his thing. One has this thing where he might produce her calls. And he he decides he's going to like play a game and now it's going to come and sing with our whispers. Oh, when's one going to actually call in? Well, that's why I can't do it to a clock. I cannot become predictable in your show. No, I'm not. I heard that. There's a calcium line on it. Like, you know, calcium, all the betting markets now. You know, so I can't, you know, got to keep people guessing, you know, with all the betting markets we have now.

6:10Yeah, we're not allowed to do that in the state where it's illegal. Can't believe gambling's bad. But yeah, no, it was no exactly. We, you know, I think the whole thing though is that this, it kind of played a script of of what the team is. And, you know, we'll see what happens down under tonight. But, you know, you and I have spoken a lot this year about just how these teams are put together. The three best teams in the NFC West and maybe three or the four or five best teams in the NFL and San Francisco LA and Seattle and, you know, by and large, you know, San Francisco does it. Kyle does it because he's a brilliant mastermind offensively and, and, you know, they've got enough playmakers on defense. If the linebackers are healthy and boasts is back and so forth. I know you're missing the, the alignment, but, you know, in LA they've kind of got the best of both worlds, but it was, it was just. I think at some point you're in a guy's head, you know, and I think, you know, the Drake May situation Seattle and Drake May just do not mesh well at all. And, and that's readily apparent. The other thing to John is that, you know, they lose AJ Brown and they make it a big deal about that. I get that, you know, I mean, he's he was a big addition to them.

7:19I mean, let's go back Seattle was playing without Nick even worry and they're starting safety tie. Ocata and oh by the way, Sam Darnel. So like it's the battle of the tradition. That's the NFL. And if you're not deep and you don't have good depth, you're in trouble. And in the end, they, the MI appreciate kicks off a ball. The guy that tipped in the ball was Rodney Thomas, the previous interception, who was just elevated from the practice squad because Ocata's hurt and even worries hurt. I mean, they're just patchwork putting stuff together. It was kind of a wild game, but I think it just played the script. Mike McDonald was able to outmaneuver a variable and, you know, I mean, variable. I don't know, Diana was here or not. You know, she worked here. So I mean, she might have been hanging out. I don't know if he's even distracted what was going on. But McDonald took him to took him to the woodshed again. So. E for an SKJR and Seattle were looking back. Because you've probably seen this on social media where they somebody did something where when they unveiled the banner and then it was it was receiving and and Ravel. It's gone all over the internet. It's amazing. It's just amazing nowadays.

8:24Big picture then for 49 years, man, big picture on this whole thing is that because they had all the penalties and all this kind of stuff. And now Drew Locker is going to be able to, you know, have have reps during the week. Is there major concern or is this, hey, you know, nobody plays in the preseason. They were rusty. You'd rather learn these lessons with a win than a loss. They get out of it. Because, you know, down here, we're like, you know, our beer were like, okay, maybe they can, you know, maybe they can get the win and and Seattle just came back. And like you said, that's what good teams do. They step up. There's no excuses. Like, you know, people wouldn't have been saying you didn't have Sam Darnell. People have just said you lost to the Patriots. That's just how the league is. And like you said, it guys have got to step up. That's just how it is. So, yeah, that's probably the worst performance are going to have this year, right? And they still won. Well, their schedule is so hard. I mean, you guys know what it's like down there. When you have a, you know, a first or second place schedule, it's brutal. You know, I mean, they just date and, you know, I thought I was a good graphic on the BC last night. You know, I mean, the Patriots last year benefited from having the easiest schedule in the NFL from the prior year.

9:24So they're going to, there's going to be speed bumps along the way. I still think it's just going to be a matter of, you know, I looked back. I think weren't all three teams. Seattle San Francisco and LA weren't all three teams foreign to the division last year. I think it was like, so it's like these teams are going to beat each other up. Um, the one thing was locked that I thought was really interesting. I don't know what you thought you worked in Pittsburgh for a while. I, my common was great on TV. He was, yeah, he was. Other than calling JSN JNS one time. He was great. Yeah. Yeah. That's that was a little. That was a coach. If the coach, he probably just called him 11 if he was playing for. Yeah. That's a good. He, uh, but he had a great point. You know, like the thing with lock is, yeah, he's not getting the reps for the last 10 days. But he got all the reps, you know, he got a lot of the reps of the preceded. Now remember, he didn't play the last preseason game. That was all Millwell, Millwell, Millwell played the whole game. Yeah. But you know, I thought that helped. They've made a big deal about when they brought lockback a couple of years ago, last year, actually. They made a big deal of the fact that, you know, they were trusting Darnell. They drafted Millwell on the third round as a development guy. And that's, that's what he is.

10:27But they've, they've really always kind of John Schneider. The one thing we should out. It's interesting. If you look back over the years, he's always had a really good backup quarterback. He doesn't draft quarterbacks. Like, you know, Russ, I got him Alex McGue in the seventh round in Milro. The only quarterbacks he's ever drafted. But he always makes sure he has a guy that's like a number two and is good. Like, Geno was the number two for a while before he turned into a Diva. And he was really good at the number two. That to bar the late to Varis Jackson was a number two. You know, they've had guys like that over the years and they trust lock. They really do. And it's not just coach speak. They do trust him. You know, and he's just a, like I don't know if you saw the post get he's just goofy enough where it just works. Like he's just kind of a, you know, he's. For lack of a better term. The guys he's living the life. Man, he's like making a lot of money. He's been there, done that and failed at a couple places where probably it wasn't his fault that, you know, the bad Broncos before Sean Payton and the bet and all things bad giants.

11:28He did a good spot, man. And I think they're they're okay with him. He's athletic. It's hell. Like he's really underrated athletically. And he's got a probably some say is like, you know, their whole thing in hard knocks about Darnell to spin rate and all that. Yeah, most that know this stuff. I don't, but most that do say that lot can flat out spin it. Like he's got a big arm. And so I think they trust a guy for a few weeks and they've always going to trust it. And they you get a good backup quarterback. Because if you think you're a contending team, what happened last night can happen at any time. I mean, if it happens to the Rams, I think they're to help a lot more trouble than facing out of this. There's no doubt. And that's why the Niners have Mac Jones is is they they trust him. Yeah, real quick in for SKJ R and Seattle reviewing the opening last night. The C.O.X. beat the Patriots 13 10 real quick. Number one, I heard a rumor. Do you or do you not have Christian McCaffer on your fantasy team? Oh, my God, I'm so dirty. I feel like it's like, yes. Yeah, yeah, I can't play with your heart. I am like you cannot play that. You cannot play fantasy football with your heart. Good. You know, yeah, but you're the one that I didn't listen to you, which is a stutter. Why would I have to? I want to have five years of doing it. But like, no, no, but I, but the thing that scares me then because I was like, no, one can't be right. Like he's not right a lot. That's true.

12:49That's not every time is it every time he's had 300 touches or more or 400 touches or more than next year. It's like drops like significantly. Yeah, it's for it. He had 400 touches last year. And I looked it up and that was right. Like this. He's best into have like 150 touch season. If that. So yeah, I'm I'm not happy. And I know what your next question is. Yes, no, yes. We are all rooting for the 49ers tonight. Yeah, that's where you are. You are. Yes. I knew you were Seattle is a. Is it is a 49ers town? Yeah, I've got my I've got my red and gold on right now. You know, I've. I mean, you got to hate the rest. You absolutely have to hate the rest. There's no doubt. Yeah, I think we hate them. I think we hate them equally, but you just have to look at what's better for the bigger picture. Yeah, right. And the bigger picture is is that 49er win over the Rams is better for us up here in Seattle than the Rams winning. But yeah, I think it's celebration of the 49ers. I'm going to probably go find a bad Santa can or outhouse to use like the old candlestick park had us doing it in the TV lot out there.

13:58You probably probably take a probably take a, probably take a long hit to and walk over from broken glass. Yeah. Yeah, that was awesome. Yeah, and we got people. Yeah, because they go over Seattle. I love that man. That was also screaming in the end. Hey, no quick before we let you go on one serious tone. I know that you and I like to screw around pretty much for the most part and all the time. I use this at the beginning of my show. I always do three big things and you know, I know that there's a lot of people here. You know, who aren't into hockey, but you're Mr. Seattle crack and you do the TV stuff for the crack and you do a great job with it. And I know I when I was in Detroit, we had Barry Melrose on all the time. We had him on a weekly. Yeah, you can probably talk to speak to him a lot better than I can, even though we used to have monolot. What did you think when you heard the news pretty sad Barry Melrose has passed away at the age of 70. Yeah, really sad. You know, I think you guys have such a great thing going down there in San Jose now with the sharks. I mean, but they're at what they're doing with Maclin and Smith and companies can be sent. You know, that that franchise on the rise. And I think the thing with Barry Melrose is, it's in a day and age in which.

15:14You know, ESPN has kind of lost its way a little bit when Barry was at his peak and when he was on, even if they work showing games and when they lost didn't have the contract for a while, he kept the pilot light alive for the NHL. I mean, NHL is the number four professional league in North America. We know that right. It's NBA NFL, Major League Baseball, the NHL is number four. And but Barry never made it feel like number four. He kept it alive. He was the voice of hockey on the most important outlet in the country. DSPN, whether we like it or not. And you know, he had Seattle ties, John, he coached Junior here, but the Seattle Thunderbirds Junior team were Patrick Marlow came from, for example, and he coached them in the late 80s. And so we got to know him a little bit just a class act, sad day for hockey. I think we all if you're a hockey fan, you all know, I'm a great a dad to in. And you know what the thing about about Barry is the flamboyant suits the moment and all that. That's who he was. Like that's like the teamers have pictures in their offices here in the junior team does of all the team. And that's how he looked back then. Like you know, in the 89 90 like he had the mullet back then. That's who and what he was.

16:18He oversize suits and you know, he was cool. He was awesome. He was part of old ESPN and he'll be greatly missed. But I think if you're a hockey fan, raise a glass tonight while you're watching the 49ers and say thanks to Barry Melrose because we all owe him a lot. He was a he was a hell of an entertainer and a hell of an analyst as well. And took the Kings to within a game or two of the of a Stanley Cup to so yeah, rest in peace, Barry.
