0:00Wow, I don't know exactly what to say Tyler as we're here at tcare on the field after Texas just defeated number one Ohio State 24 to 23. Tyler that was one of the most improbable, impossible almost feels like the better word come back to the Texas Longhorns coming into the fourth quarter down 20. There were parts of this game where the fans were booing. There were multiple times where it felt like this was kind of the start of a really bad twist to what could be an unfortunate longhorn season and yet here we are. You've got the music glass and you've got the horns when you go in behind us. What was your reaction to that game? Just first and foremost. Yeah, it was the most improbable impossible. Whatever words you want to use. I know those are the ones you used. I'll try to find some to use in the next 24 hours or so, but right now like you said they're just not coming to mind because it's not like you said the whole season would maybe teeter if it went the way that it was looking that it did. It was like you didn't even know what Texas was. Yeah. Early in that game, they weren't playing clean football. Two turnovers on the first five in the first five plays of the game.

1:05There was a point there in the second quarter where things kind of stabilized and you're like, okay maybe Texas can make this a ball game. It's 13 to three. Texas has the ball. Go down and score some points before the half. No, you don't get it on a fourth down play that was honestly, you know, I see Sarkeesian. There were so many things to ask that weren't that. In the post game press conference, but you know if he was asked maybe he would have said, yeah, I'm not sure about doing the little end-around deal to Ryan Wingo. He got stopped behind the line of scrimmage. Ohio State scores a touchdown and it's 20 to three. But then Evan, Ohio State did nothing in the second half to put the pedal down turn, you know, turn the gas up on Texas and really put the ball game away. They gave Texas life and Texas pounced on that three touchdowns in the final three possessions. They were all 12 plays or more. The longest of those was 15. Like archmaning was making plays. Emory Winston of all people was making plays. Emmett Mosley, Hollywood smothers scores two touchdowns. Wingo redeemed himself and scores a touchdown. Like everything went wrong for Texas for three quarters, you know, two plus. Everything went right for

2:09the final 15, 20 minutes of this game. And my gosh, it's taken this long to say it. Texas just beat the number one team in the country. Texas has a case to be the number one team in the country win for two and a half quarters. It looked like, like I said, what are they? I think you can definitively say that Texas will be the number one team in the country at this point, given that they were number four. They played a team with the caliber of Ohio State. Yeah, there were sloppy moments. Part of it at the start was you're just so shell shock. I mean, a first play fumble that the nickel makes a good play on it. Really probably makes the wrong cut. Interception that we thought when it was thrown, I mean, we pointed out immediately when Coleman got some separation, that's a touchdown. And maybe a slight bit overthrown Coleman makes a play at it. It doesn't catch them all pops up into the hands of the defensive back. You can't script that. But I'm glad you pointed out that fourth and two play because he did mention a little bit in the press comments that like, you know, you have to have confidence in your play. It's in joke about how they were walking in the ballroom of hotel this morning, trying out that end around play. And it didn't work there. But then you look in the third quarter, fourth and nine in his own in his own territory, he converts it.

Emmett Mosley ended up being the leading receiver. If you had told people that Emmett Mosley, Emory Winston would be the one in two for Texas this game. They would have called you crazy. But Mosley was immensely clutch in the end. Defensively, Beaumasco locking up Jeremiah Smith on two different third downs. Raleigh Brown and Holly would some others. I'll just let you pick someone to talk about Tyler. I think there's a lot of names that we could go over. Can I just talk about how there were so many things that needed to go right for Texas in this game. And we've seen against Ohio State. We've seen it against Georgia. Everything go wrong. You just mentioned so much that went right. And my gosh, how about this? There's a moment where Ryan Nibblet fumbles upon deep in the Texas territory. Well, how state could have gotten them all around the 10 yard line? Kate Phillips was like, you know what? I'm going to follow on this. Texas goes down on the same possession, by the way.

4:14Emmett Mosley, who like you said, had a great game. He gets a ball punched out. Cam Coleman of all people come flying in. There's three buckais around him. He's the one that gets the ball. Texas scores three plays later to make it. That might have been 2317 or 2310. Again, three consecutive touchdowns. Ohio State goes four possessions without scoring any points at all. It was, I mean, everything had to go right and everything did go right. You credit Texas for believing. I think there were a couple of words that stuck out to me. Here we go. I'm finally finding the words to use belief and grit. Yeah. Multiple players, Steve Sarkeesian himself said, this Texas team never gave up. They always believed. And then he said that this was, you know, it took, it took grit to win this game because in one of those fourth down moments, or if it's both Masco doesn't have the grit to make the stops that you're mentioning, Ohio State stays on the field, runs out the clock. This game is over, but Texas believed Texas had the grit. Texas won the game. You could point out probably about eight plays in this game where if it just goes, the ball drops a

5:16little differently. If it goes a different way, Ohio State just kind of waltzers out of here with a win. We're having some serious, serious conversations about what the rest of the season looks like for Texas. You mentioned that cam Coleman play. I mean, that's a testament to, you know, we overuse the word culture maybe as writers, but you feel it when a player like cam Coleman, who's getting paid all this money, is not having his best game, right? I mean, the interception that probably could be blamed on him, he goes and falls on a fumble that his co-wider seeker had. And I believe those at the end of the third quarter, they go and score. I think that was the first of the three touchdowns that got them in this game. And suddenly they're off and running. And something's had to go Texas right away, right? I mean, Ohio State misses a field goal. That almost is getting kind of lost in all this that I was assuming it's a 44 yard. Well, this is about to say that's one of the things that would always go against Texas in games like this. That field goal goes through. Suddenly, Texas is down by nine. I think it would have been and they don't have the time to come back and win the game. Texas missed or Ohio State misses that field goal. Archmaning told us as soon as that missed, I knew it was our time. And that's a really powerful quote. And I think a hundred thousand people

6:18in here actually believed it too. For like the first time in a long time, it gets a team like, Ohio State, right? I think a hundred thousand people were like, Texas just went however many yards on two plays, you know, two drives before this. Why not just go do it again? They did. Hollywood smothers scores with 25 seconds left in this game. And you know, the rest is history. Texas is 2 and 0. Yeah it wasn't like Hollywood smothers had a run like the 45 yarder that I think you know he has that against Texas state on the first play from scrimmage as a Texas fan you're feeling oh my gosh this is going to be a special season this is the way it's going to be no this game was not that it was you got to make people miss in a phone booth type game and I give really ground credit for coming back from the fumble he had some really nice runs Hollywood smothers had some really nice runs not every play is going to be perfect they had somewhere you like you know what you want that one back archman he had some plays where he would want those back but my gosh did he make the plays in the end that had his team believing Trevor Goose be told me that guy was the one archmaning in the huddle hyping these guys up on those last three possessions saying we're going to go do this guys like we we have time left in this ballgame to go do it and I think that gives really ground the confidence to say you know what I fumbled earlier in this game but

9:24if I can make a couple plays that helps Texas win now I'm going to do it Hollywood smothers same way physical running at the goal like whether the one touchdown was a walk in he didn't need to be physical but guess what the offensive line was physical to pave that way so some really nice play offensively from the long horns but then you have to give the defense credit to for holding Ohio State to three points in the second half I will say questionable game plan for Ryan Day I haven't heard what he had said after this game but they shut it down in a way that some people maybe would say Steve Sarkesian would win up in games like this like against Vanderbilt or you've seen some of those Ohio State had a little bit of that but Texas defense still had to make some plays it did and the offense made some plays as well so complimentary football and then win over the number one team in the country it wasn't conventional but it was still complimentary I'm really glad you pointed that out because we're talking about national champion Ryan Day here these were the kind of critiques he was getting before he went in one that title when he was losing the Michigan when he was going 10 and 2 and that you're they ended up making that run it was the inability to close out games the inability to beat their biggest rivals the most important games Steve Sarkesian what people were expecting to happen to him
