JD Vance Said Tucker Is Just A Political Disagreement. Is He Wrong.
About this episode
I jumped on for a bonus live stream because this couldn't wait. A clip of JD Vance at the RJC is circulating, he's asked about Tucker Carlson and his answer is that we should be able to remain friends with people we have political disagreements with. I have a problem with that framing. The objections to Tucker are not political disagreements. We're not arguing about tax rates or military policy. We're talking about lying, simping for Putin, calling Hamas a political organization, smearing Ben Shapiro as a dual-loyalty Jew who can't be trusted, Holocaust revisionism, confusing an entire generation about who the good guys are. Those are ethical disagreements. Behavioral disagreements. And framing them as simply political is either deeply confused or a deliberate dodge. I also get into what happens to a movement when it refuses to draw ideological borders, look at what happened to the left and the rise of the DSA. Conservatism means conserving something. You can't do that while giving cover to the people actively working to destroy it. This one had to come out. I'll be back for a full episode soon.

Welcome back to a bonus livestream edition of Ami's House. Following too much of what's going on right now, clips of JD Vance circulating. I wanted to just jump on here and react to it right away. Join in the comments. Go check out Patreon. Check out the merch store. And thank you for being here. You know, I didn't want to wait a whole other week to cover some of this stuff. Share your comments during the livestream. And I'll react to them. But just got off a livestream with an episode with Dana Laush. Thank you for having me. That was great. Really nice talking to Dana. And now I just wanted to come on here because, you know, sometimes there are stories that are hot. There's so hot stories circulating right now. That hot stories right now. And we got to talk about it. We got to talk about it. I'm going to roll a clip. We're going to react to it. But I'll start by saying this. Look.
For those of you that know me, that follow me, that have watched the show, that have watched the podcast, I'm a benefit of the doubt guy. Okay, I give people the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes to my own detriment. Sometimes I've been wrong about people. Sometimes people have become the very caricatures. I defended of them becoming. Candice being a prime example. I kind of defended the civil conversation we had. I thought it was a better approach. But hey, she ended up making her own bed. And going full retard. What are you going to do? But, you know, I still hold that having discernment and important conversations and dialogue, not jumping to using anti-Semitism as a one-size-fits-all accusation in every scenario. I think that's unproductive and wrong. And, you know, I'll get to my point shortly. But, you know, I saw last night at debate with Alan Dershowitz and Dave Smith. And I just thought it devolved so quickly. Look, I agree with Alan on his positions, generally speaking. But we'll get into that in a whole other episode.
Devolving into calling Dave Smith a bigot in an anti-Semite. I mean, there was just a lot of things that were sort of out of touch, I think, in that debate conversation, what everyone would call it, kind of lost the subject matter. And I think devolved and became uncivil. And yeah. Shame on you. Shame. Shame on you for invoking a trope. You know, I have to be critical. That was not wise. That was not true. Or smart. I'm not defending Dave Smith's positions. But in terms of civil debate and dialogue, the fact that it arrived there, I think there's a much more sophisticated way to present those arguments. Maybe I'll have Dave on this show and we'll hash it out. I'm considering it because I watch these conversations. And when people represent your point of view in your positions and I think fail to do so properly, it's very frustrating. But let's get to JD Vance. Okay. Let's get to JD Vance. Because I'm going to roll this clip. It's going around and I've been making some clipping up some stuff from my last livestream a couple days ago
about JD and what the issues are. And that the issue isn't actually JD Vance. It's its proximity to Tucker Carlson, who is an insidious and a farious disingenuous dishonest actor in this space. So he's asked. He had this talk at the RJC, which I guess they didn't clip up. There's no media video recording of it. I'm not sure why they didn't do that. Maybe that was the condition, but it got out. Let's just watch the clip first. And then I'll give you my two cents on it. Let me know if you see everything properly. I'll share my screen here. But boom, share screen. Let me know if you guys see this and we'll roll it. Here is a clip of JD Vance being asked about Tucker Carlson. Check it out. Let me have you hear everything. Which made you cause a division within the GOP. Well, look, I'm not avoiding addressing anything. Everybody knows that Tucker Carlson and I are friends. And I think it's very obvious that Tucker has said some things that I disagree with. He said some things about the President of the United States that I think are just wrong.
I think yesterday somebody sent me a clip that said that he would support LCIED over Rogers. I think LCIED is a crazy person. And I think whatever your views on microaggressive policy prescriptions, I'd like to have a non-crazy person like Mike Rogers representing Michigan and the United States Senate, rather than a crazy person like LCIED. That said, my attitude towards this and I try to practice what I preach. And I remember when I became the vice president. Everybody here is okay. Just give me a thumbs up in the comments. Is not when people attack me, but when people attack my wife, including friends of hers, who knew her heart, who knew what a good person she was. And I remember thinking to myself, what a travesty it is that in the United States of America, we let political disagreements define who our friends are going to be and not going to be. So yeah, Tucker is a friend of mine. Tucker is a friend despite the fact that we disagree on a number of things. And I'm not going to play the game where I throw friends under the bus because I have political disagreements.
I think that is a terrible place for the United States to go. And if you have a disagreement with somebody politically, even over a deeply held issue, you should still be friends with that person because the whole republic depends on people with different perspectives being able to talk to one another. That's how I try to live my life and I encourage everybody else to do the same. All right, I changed the audio, by the way. I think it started with a different microphone. So let me know if you hear my voice better. Volume up right now, as we speak, is that better? How's that? How's the volume, guys? How's the volume? Let me know in the comments. Guys, you watch a clip like that. And he says, we should be able to be friends with people we have political disagreements with. Political disagreements with. Here's the thing Mr. Vice President.
Our disagreements with Tucker Carlson. Are not political disagreements. It's a false framing. It's a dodge hiding behind this idea of being friends with people we have political disagreements. Of course, I have friends across the political spectrum. But the disagreements with Tucker, the objections to him are not inherently or even remotely political. They're not. They're ethical. They're moral disagreements that are much deeper than politics. We're not disagreeing with Tucker about what the tax rate should be. We're not even having disagreements with him about policy or even military policy, even though those are some of the disagreements. It's much worse, much darker and deeper than that. Lying, being disingenuous and dishonest, lying about.
Smearing. Ben Shapiro as a dual loyalty. Jew who can't be trusted, pretending you don't know who people are when you clearly know who they are, saying that Hamas is a political organization or that the Taliban has a good rehabilitation program, sipping, stumping for Putin, making apologists for authoritarian evil regimes, misrepresenting reality, lying to millions and millions of people, confusing millions of young people, saying American the West, you know, our, our weak, feckless and ineffectual and should not have necessarily won the war as they won and having people on to revise history are not political disagreements. And you don't like people who criticize your wife, of course, Nick Fuentes calls you a race mix or all these horrible things. Well, he was on Tucker show and how did that conversation go? A lot of, I love that. I love that. These are not political disagreements.
These are ethical disagreements. And while I can have plenty of friends, I have political disagreements with ethical disagreements, not so much. Not everything is in bounds. And you're perfectly willing to call out other opponents that you're not personally friends with, much more harshly, whether they're on the left, specifically on the left, I'll talk about Abdul Al-Sahid and all these people who you think are a threat to American prosperity. Of course. And you call them out as you should. Push your limits, train with precision, see the results. At Equinox, that type of performance loving. Everything you need to lock in and unlock your potential at Equinox. Start today at equinox.com. Bandool is now available everywhere in the US. I'm in everywhere. So you can get in on the sports action no matter where you are, including these places.
May this year, most rewarding season ever with Fandool. Age and location restrictions apply. Product availability varies by market. CFandool.com for eligibility. Gambling problem called 1-800-Gemmar. The issues with Tucker are not political disagreements. That's wrong. You're lying to yourself. And I get it. Maybe you just have a personal friendship with the guy. So it's hard for you to publicly condemn him. But that might be not what the Jews demand of you. But what your position demands of you as a leader, as the vice president, as a hopeful to lead the Republican party to lead a coalition of conservatives, we should maintain relationships with and unify with people who are the most divisive figures. Tucker's not even in this coalition. He's outside of it. He wishes to do damage to it, to demoralize it, to destroy it. So you drop in the ball there.
And don't not ask you to condemn Tucker for us, for the Jews, for the pro-Israel crowd, for the pro-Jewish crowd. Do it for yourself. It's not wrong what Tucker's done is not wrong. And Tucker's behavior is not wrong because it's offensive to Jews. It's offensive to Jews because it's wrong. It's offensive to all of us, to anyone who values Western civilization and freedom. And what the United States stands for on principle. Tucker's done more to damage. People's sense of confidence and belief in America's virtue and the things that this country stands for and that we're fighting for. The true enemies of those things, the enemies of liberty on the far left and the DSA, Tucker's done a lot more to confuse the issue on that, who the good guys are and the bad guys are whether they are in the Middle East, or whether they're in this country, whether they're on the far left or the radical Islamic side of things in this equation, Tucker's done more to blur the lines
and confuse the issues and it's so insidious and dangerous. And so, the position you're in, Vice President, is not to maintain friendships outside of your position. It's to stand on principles and values that we care about, that we wish to preserve. It's strategically unwise and short-sighted to, even if you're thinking purely pragmatically. I don't understand this, but falsely framing this as simply political disagreements is if that's the only issue with Tucker Carlson has been political disagreements. No, that's what the left can't stand. I get that on the left. It's very hard for them to have political disagreements because they conflate politics and policy with virtue and ethics and you know, you are a good person or a bad person depending on if you politically agree with someone. That's not what Tucker's doing. What Tucker's doing is actually evil and you're confusing it, conflating it as political disagreements
when it's actually ethical disagreements. When it's claiming to be on the side of Erica Kirk and Charlie Kirk and yet saying, how much you love Candace Owens, I mean, I do. I love them both. These two are contradictions. I don't think you can really hold both of those in your head. People are free to do what they want. They're free to associate what you want, but I'm free to judge them for it and you should be too because that's what's required of you. Not for us for the very coalition and ideas you want to preserve and protect and continue. And so one of the hop on this live because man, it's frustrating to watch this continual dodge and it is. He says, I'm not avoiding anything. Then how come whenever you're asked about Tucker, you condemn Fuentes. Fuentes tells you what he is and it's easy to condemn those ideas. But you know how trouble condemning those ideas? Tucker. I'm celebrating Stalin's birthday. It's my face. He's kind of a hero of mine. Stalin's a
hero of yours. I love that. We'll get back to that. What is this? These are layups, you know, and maybe you can say I have a friendship with a guy because blood is thicker than water, friendship, thicker than policy and all that. But you know, to couch it all in, we should be able to have respectful disagreements. Tucker's disagreements have been very disrespectful. He has misframed and mischaracterized his opponents. He has lied about leaders in the conservative movement. He's lied about evangelical leaders, Zionist leaders, Christian Zionist, Ben Shapiro, Mike Huckabee. He's mischaracterizing, misrepresenting, misleading his audience, confusing his audience. That's not a political disagreement. I don't even know where Tucker stands on anything. Other than confusion and demoralization, that's the pattern of behavior. These are behavioral issues,
not political issues. And you wouldn't say we should be able to have behavior on ethical disagreements and still remain friends with people. Well, not really. If someone's ethically compromised, has bad behavior, stands for bad values. I don't think you should be friends with such a person. Someone who stands for bad things, evil things, someone who influences people to do and think bad things about the United States and false things to believe lies. Someone who misleads, I don't know if that person is necessarily worthy of friendship. It's not a purity test far from it. It's not a purity test. But having two highest standards is one thing. Having no standards is another thing. Is that the only choices you have? To say that you have way too high standards and our tent is too narrow. And therefore, no one gets in purity test or no standards. Is that it? Are those the only choices we have? A purity test
or no standards? Either you're a left wing, cancel culture, purity test, purveyor, in which no one is good enough or everyone is good enough and there's no discernment, there's no judgment, there's no questionable behavior. I mean, that's a false binary. You have to have some discernment, some judgment. So it's just weekend. You're going to hand the victory to the very people you're trying to fight and trying to have actual political victories over. There's no one more damaging to that. No one ensuring more of a victory for the AOCs and Gavin Newsom's in the world than Tucker Carlson. I can assure you. So you have to see what you value more. I mean, a personal friendship or relationship that maybe you can maintain privately. I'm not going to tell you. I'm not going to place your personal friendships and relationships, but you stand for much more than that. And I represent something much more than that. And that's what's required if you not because the Jews are demanding it, but principles, values are demanding it. It's disappointing. Hey, I want to give
the benefit of the doubt. And I get it. A stance of neutrality is maybe politically expedient because what's the point in saying anything controversial? But hey, you know, evil men try and win good men do nothing. Doing nothing is dangerous. Turning a blind eye, putting your head in the sand is much more risky and destructive and dangerous than ruffling if you feathers saying what you believe is true and right. Pretending Tucker doesn't exist. There's a non factor or he's just engaging in political discourse that I disagree with. What do you mean you disagree? Hey, by the way, he trumps not the anti-Christ. I mean, I know you think that, but I mean, I don't. So I guess we just politely disagree that trumps the anti-Christ. Come on. This is actually a terrorist organization. Not a political one, but we just have disagreements about that. Too high standards or no standards, purity test or no standards. No. It's a false binary. And so we got to discuss this. I'm sorry. I'm no left-winger,
cancel culture, purity test, demander that you behave and do a certain thing. But at the same time, do we stand for loyalty, blind loyalty, personal relationships over values and principles? Do we have no standards for ethics, for conduct? Can we not judge anything? Is the alternative left-wing cancel culture, in which you can't have an opinion about anything, to have an opinion about nothing, to not stand for anything? To have a tense so broad and big, you let in people who will divide you and are completely antithetical to your values and principles. Is that the answer? No. The alternative to a left-wing authoritarian agenda full of cancel culture and doesn't allow for a range of ideas is to have a different set of ideas that is still a worldview, still an ideology, based in something, based in values and principles that you're trying to protect and preserve. It's not chaos. There's a fine line between order and chaos, vice president. There's a fine line.
And you're rejecting the authoritarian order of a left-wing monolithic view that doesn't allow for any dissent or disagreement. But you're trading that in for chaos, in which no one can judge anyone because, hey, we all have disagreements. Pettling an anti-Semitism or Holocaust denial or revisionism, it's a layup on condemning that. And it's not a political disagreement to obscure lie about history. Lying when you know better, misleading, being disingenuous, those are not political disagreements. This is the marketplace of conduct, not ideas. The issues with Tucker are his conduct, his behavior, not his ideas. I don't know what his ideas are. His ideas are inconsistency for inconsistency, say, demoralization,
confusion, to demoralize a base, to turn against, I don't know, Western hegemony, to turn against the West against American dominance, to take another look at parts of the world that who have views and ideologies we fight and stand against. That's not a political disagreement. It's much deeper. It's much darker than that. And I'm sorry, but hiding behind a critique of obviously evil people that don't obscure and hide and evade their views like Nick Fuentes, who's honestly what he is, he's authentic. That's great, but that's not the issue. And misrepresenting what Tucker's doing as simply a political disagreement is also, it's just wrong. It's just wrong. And that's why it leaves us very disappointed. And this isn't like a disappointed. It just means that there are those of us in a post 2024 world and that kind of victory,
it just becomes so squandered if you aren't actually fighting to conserve something. What is conservatism? If it's hollowed out by people who don't believe in conservative principles and values, don't believe in capitalism and markets in, you know, the moral superiority of the West, Western civilization, people who are against that. And Tucker's one of them, he's probably the primary person pushing that at the moment, certainly who's considered on the right, even the most of his ideas are pretty left. You know, then you're not conserving anything. It just becomes some tribal sporting game. Politics becomes meaningless. Empty of any sort of substance or anything worth preserving. It's just a clout chase for power, for grift. And that's what's disappointing. We got to be better than that. Look what happened to the left when it didn't draw ideological borders. That's why the DSA is on the rise. That's why the far left is on the rise because the centrist Democrats basically every time things went further extreme left, they just
embraced it, capitulated to it. They just said, Kamala Harris, she hers. Kamala Harris, she hers. They said, oh, these cool kids in the DSA, let's let's try to be more like them rather than saying no. Gender is not a construct. There are men and there are women. Hamas bad. You know, most people didn't become Bill Maher. Most of them were spineless cowards. And now the left has drifted because they basically did this work of, you know, creating a fertile ground for the DSA. Why? They said for years, occupy Wall Street, the millionaires and bullionaires, the millionaires class and the bullionaire class are exploiting. And so the DSA said, yeah, you're right. Okay, let's take this all the way to the extreme and become full blown communists. And every time they had political victories on the far left, the center left embraced it, didn't reject it. But on the right, there's a lot more individualist thinking. You're seeing this infighting. And those of us calling
it out to preserve what conservatism always was and always fought for are fighting against those who wish to destroy it and squander that victory and hand it to the far left. Introducing ideas that were put to rest for years like Nazis bad. US winning the World War, U.S. winning World War 2, good. Russia, authoritarian Putin thug. Radical jihadists bad. Free societies good. Free economies good. I mean, Tucker's introducing a whole generation of people to question all of that. And it does a great disservice to conservatism, a great service to communism and far leftism. And so who's going to be the ones to stand against those who stand against Western values? Is a personal friendship? That's what stands in the way of it, being able to stand on principle
and conflate this as political disagreements. The choice is yours. It will come to it. But that's why we're disappointed. And it's not some petty self-serving. Well, he heard our feelings. It's a lot bigger and deeper than that. It's a lot broader than that. It's not what hurts our feelings. It's what hurts the movement and the world we wish to build and preserve and care about. If you can't stand on those principles. Push your limits, train with precision, see the results. At Equinox, that's high performance loving. Iconic spaces that inspire. Standing with those who divide, who demoralize, who are unethical. Standing and making excuses for a mischaracterizing or evading evil and not fighting it and standing up against it allows it to thrive. Then as Prager said, last year, there's no shortage of good, there's no shortage of evil, but there's a shortage of courage. And in these moments, that's what's required. Not just being good or being bad, but being courageous. There's a shortage of courage,
and I hope you can find it. And that's what we're all summoning and demanding. That's what's required as a leader. Courage. Thanks for watching, everybody.
