Jes Staley And The Transcripts From His Epstein Related Trip To Congress (Part 14) (9/7/26)

About this episode

The transcripts from Jes Staley’s July 24, 2026 interview with the House Oversight Committee revealed just how deep and personal his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein became, while also exposing contradictions in the way Staley had described that relationship publicly. Staley acknowledged visiting Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse dozens of times, traveling to Little St. James on multiple occasions and exchanging roughly 1,200 communications with Epstein between 2008 and 2012. He admitted that he had shared confidential and potentially market-sensitive JPMorgan information with Epstein, including details about the bank’s business, client relationships, pending transactions and even communications involving the Federal Reserve during the 2008 financial crisis. Staley also told investigators that he had discussed his own compensation with Epstein and sought his advice, despite previously portraying Epstein as having little or no connection to his professional life after the 2008 conviction. He further acknowledged having a sexual encounter with one of Epstein’s assistants after meeting her through Epstein, while insisting that Epstein did not arrange it and that he had no knowledge that the woman had later accused Epstein of abuse.

The committee also pressed Staley on some of the strangest and most troubling material in his correspondence with Epstein, including the notorious “Snow White” emails and other references to Disney characters. Staley denied having sex with a woman dressed as Snow White and said he could not explain the meaning of some of the messages, even when investigators confronted him with contemporaneous emails and photographs. He maintained that he did not know Epstein was continuing to abuse girls after his 2008 conviction, calling that revelation “incredible,” yet the transcripts also showed that Staley personally argued for JPMorgan to keep Epstein as a client even as internal concerns about Epstein’s cash withdrawals and potential trafficking activity were mounting. Staley also said he had spoken with Jamie Dimon about Epstein, something Dimon and JPMorgan have disputed. Taken together, the testimony painted a picture of a relationship that was far closer, more intertwined with Staley’s professional life and more difficult to reconcile with his earlier descriptions than he had previously acknowledged.

What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're gonna pick up where we left off with Jess Staley and the transcript from his trip to Congress. Question, why then ask Steve Cutler to hear Mr. Epstein out if you think they should have acted differently in retaining him as a client? Answer, I think one doesn't have to do it the other. Just having the Chief Counsel or bank listen to Jeffrey Epstein before the bank bakes or as the bank makes its decision, what to do with his accounts made sense. The bank would be most informed, the most senior officer responsible for it would be informed and they would hopefully make the right decision. Question, did you ever loan Mr. Epstein money? Answer no. Question, are you aware of Mr. Epstein exerting influence on JP Morgan to convince them to grant loans? Answer no. Question, did Mr. Epstein ever procure loans for Leon Black from JP Morgan?

Answer, did he ever procure loans? Leon Black borrowed in his own right. Question, did Mr. Epstein say anything to JP Morgan to influence their granting of a loan to Leon Black? Answer, not that I'm aware of. Question, were you involved in any loans for Leon Black? Answer directly no. Question, how are you involved indirectly? Answer indirectly? No, I was not involved with loans to Leon Black. Question, who would have been responsible for handling loans to Mr. Black? Answer his bankers in the credit department? Question and who was his banker? Answer, I don't know. Question was adjusted Nelson? Answer, it could have been at one point yes. Question, did you ever speak to Mr. Nelson about loans for Leon Black? Answer, not that I can recall, no. Question, did Mr. Epstein speak with Mr. Nelson about loans for Leon Black? Answer, not that I'm aware of. Question, did you ever ask JP Morgan to grant Mr. Epstein a loan?

Answer, no. I know he asked for a loan, but I believe it was no, but no, I did not ask the bank to grant Epstein a loan. Question, what did he ask for a loan for? Answer again, I'm not sure. I think at one point he asked whether the bank would extend credit to a modeling agency. Question, how did you become aware of that? Answer, I don't know. My recollection is through the press. Question, were you ever made aware of his request for a line of credit during your time at JP Morgan? Answer, I believe so, yes. Question, who would have told you? Answer, I don't know. Question, did you work on granting this line of credit? Answer, no. Question, the New York Times has reported that JP Morgan provided financial backing for Mr. Epstein to help Jean-Luc Brunel start a modeling agency called MC-squared. Some of Epstein's underage victims said MC-squared lured them to the United States with the prospect of paid modeling work, and Brunel was arrested in France in 2022 for charges of raping teenage girls.

Who authorized that line of credit? Answer, I don't know. Question, have you ever met anyone who worked for MC-squared? Answer, no. Question, have you ever met Jean-Luc Brunel? Answer, no. Question, were you aware of the DOJ's investigation into whether Mr. Brunel's MC-squared modeling agency was feeding girls and women into Mr. Epstein's suspected sex trafficking ring? Answer, no. Question, was anyone aware of this investigation at JP Morgan? Answer, I don't know. Question, did Mr. Epstein ever try to secure banking ties at Barclay in any way once he became CEO? Answer, no. Question, did you ever discuss Barclays with Mr. Epstein? Answer, yes. Question, what did you discuss? Answer, we discussed the discussions I had with Barclay in 2012. And then I told Epstein when I was offered the job in 2015 that I'd see Saul contact and relationship with him. Question, did Mr. Epstein ask why? Answer, no.

I think it was obvious why. Question had it he respond. Answer, he understood. Question, were you when you told them? Answer, I believe I was in New York, it was by phone. Question, okay. A crucial part of the committee's investigation is to better understand how Epstein and Maxwell use their connections to prominent individuals to curry favor and shield themselves from scrutiny. I'm going to read you a list of names. Please say yes or no to the following question. Then I'll ask you to elaborate. The question is, have you ever met or communicated with any of the following people regarding any crimes committed by a Jeffrey Epstein or a Glyan Maxwell? Frederick Fokai, answer, no. Question Philip Levine? Answer, can you ask a question again? Question, yes. The question is, have you ever met or communicated with any of the following people regarding any crime committed by Jeffrey Epstein or a Glyan Maxwell? Frederick Fokai, answer, no. Question Philip Levine? Answer, no.

No. Boris Nicolich? No. David Gergen? No. Larry Summers? No. Less Wexner? No. Jack Hessler? No. Steven Sinovsky? No. Kathy Rumler? No. Harvey Weinstein? No. Woody Allen? No. Bill Gates? No. Elon Musk?

No. Bill Richardson? No. Ariane Dorothchild? No. Any other member of the Rothschild family? Answer, no. Question President Bill Clinton? Answer, no. Question Secretary Hillary Clinton? Answer, no. Question Doug Bande? Answer, no. Question Ted Wait? Answer, no. Question Ehud Barak? Answer, no. Question Benjamin Netanyahu? Answer, no. Question, OK, returning to, they get cut off by Staley. Answer, if you can ask a question again, question sure. Have you ever met or communicated with any of the following people regarding the crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein or Glein Maxwell? Answer, OK. Question Andrew Mountbatten-Winzor? Formally known as Prince Andrew. Answer, no. Question Leon Black? Answer, skip it. We'll go back to that. Question Glendoubyn? Answer, no. Question Eva Anderson-Doubyn? You could also tell us what you do know, and that would be helpful for the committee's investigation.

Answer, do I know? Question, if you recall speaking to them at different time periods about the crimes, anything you recall? Question, no. I think I would have talked to Glenn and Eva. I think I had. I think I talked to Leon Black. So those three, yes, let's keep going. And that's interesting. Considering all the people that he said he talked to, were considered co-conspirators. Were considered people who took part in the abuse. And you know what they say, right? Fellow travelers and all. Question, so regarding Leon Black, what did you discuss? Answer, I think we discussed again the crimes that Epstein was brought down with. And I think that's what I think we discussed. Question and one was this. Answer, I don't know exactly when it was. Question, was it after his 2008 conviction? Answer, oh, yes, yes. Question, where were you? Answer, I don't recall. Question, who else was present? Answer, I don't think anybody was. Question, what did Leon Black say? Answer, I don't recall. Question, what was his attitude towards Mr. Epstein's conviction?

Answer, oh, I think I don't. I'm not going to characterize, I don't know. Question, how did you perceive his reaction to be? Answer, I think we were all. It was terrible that he was convicted of. And it was a horrible thing what Epstein did. I think we both responded to how we both knew him. And both responded to how terrible his actions were or what he did. Are you talking about 2019? Question, it could be 2019. Any of the crimes Mr. Epstein, Glenn Maxwell, have you discussed them with Leon Black? Answer, 2019, no. Question, Glenn Dubin? Answer, I don't again, 2019, I'm sorry. It's possibly it was 2019. Question, and when would this have been? Answer with Glenn Dubin? Question, when you would have discussed the 2019 crimes with Leon Black? Answer, I don't recall. Question, but you recall you did discuss them with Mr. Black? Answer, 2019, crimes, yeah. I don't recall if I did, so I would scratch Leon Black. I would say with Glenn and Eva Dubin.

Question, but you did meet with Mr. Black about the 2008 conviction? Answer, I met with Leon Black about business and other things, and we may have talked about it. We did meet them for that purpose of talking about 2008 or 2019. Question, what did you discuss with Glenn Dubin? Answer, Glenn and Eva, and I are good friends. I think we just talked about Epstein overall. We didn't talk any specifics about the crimes committed and whatnot, but just it impacted both of our lives dramatically, and I think we talked about that. Question, how did it impact their lives dramatically? Answer, I think both the Dubins and I have been ostracized by part of society, have been excluded from institutions that we were part of before. So investments that we've made, we've had to turn away from. Well, here's an idea. Stop abusing people while you're hanging out with Epstein. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. You know when people try a new food and suddenly it's like, wait.

That's the reaction. A lot of people are having when they first try QB Mayo. It's the one with the red cap and the little baby on the bottle. You've probably seen it in the grocery store before. And if you've ever just walked past it, some people would say that's a huge mistake because this mayo is different. Most mayonnaise uses whole eggs. QB only uses egg yolks which gives it this rich umami flavor. It's smoother, deeper and almost buttery. As people try it, they start putting it on everything. Examages, fries, burgers, some fans even swear by dipping pizza crust in it. And once you notice it, you start seeing it everywhere. Chefs use it, restaurants use it. People who really care about flavor use it. Never try it. Grab the bottle with the red cap next time you're at the store. Put it on just about anything. Then you'll understand. QB, the original Japanese mayonnaise. This is Ashley Akinetti from the almost famous podcast. You ever notice you and your spouse keep saying, we need to get away. You never actually plan anything.
