This is Belie, one network, every topic, everywhere. All right, guys, we're going to talk about Jimmy Kimmel again. We haven't talked about Jimmy Kimmel in a while because I literally don't care. And you don't care. Nobody doesn't care. No, I don't care. But we're going to talk about him because he's making headlines now because he is going to put a political interview on YouTube, on YouTube instead of broadcasting it because of the FCC and the whole equal time rule. So rather than put a Republican on to to balance it out, we're going to go run into YouTube with this interview. This is the right way to do it. This, yeah, technically speaking, yes, this is the right way to do it. We said this before with the view. It's like how hard is it to either not have politicians on, have politicians on, but give the counterbalance to it like what the equal time rule demands, right? Or just move the political commentary over to Hulu or to, you know what I'm saying?

Yeah, one of the streaming or YouTube or something like that where it's not beholden to the network TV, FCC regulations. So technically what he's doing, if you're going to do, it's just proving the fact that they're so desperate to promote, you know, left only that they're going to take their show to YouTube for this episode to do that, which is to me, that just blows my mind. Why don't you just talk about things that aren't politically related, but then they'd have nothing to talk about. But they have to be fair. This is the right way to do it. If you want to circumvent those rules, which we've talked about before, it can be done, you have to do this. That's what he's doing. So technically, he is doing it the right way. Yeah, and we said that before Disney should look at this, if they're bounded determined, they got to get political, then you're going to have to play by the rules if you're a broadcaster and you have a broadcast license. And that's just it's not, I mean, do I think the FCC is cracking down on them, especially hard? Yeah, but they're pushing, but do I think they're pushing leftist politics, especially hard

and deliberately not doing it one time? Yes. Two things feature it wants. But we said this before, and it still stands true. If they want to do that and go super political on one side, they can, but they have to do things like take it to a different, to a streamer or to YouTube, and that's what they're doing. So they are playing within those rules. And we said, this is what they'd have to do, and that's what they're doing. So we're going to talk about that. And then we're going to talk about the rumor. I don't know where the rumor came from that Jimmy Kimmel was done after this season. ABC's denying it, but I am starting to wonder if they won't move him over to like Hulu or something or streaming because of, you know, all the controversy. And also you can hide the numbers better because you just had it, you know, and he's very expensive. They give him a pay cut. They said they aren't going to the view either, but then they started cutting the budget massively. Yeah, none of it makes sense. It's almost like they're trying to put on a brave face like, oh, no, guys, everything's fine here. And I think really with the like the view, especially, I think I think most of the people that watch it or just hate watching it or is just on the background or something.

But again, you're allowed to get political with your commentary. You're allowed to have political candidates on. If that's what you want to do, you just can't do it under the FCC guidelines. And I was looking into it. And I was like, well, how did Johnny Carson handle it? And the truth is Johnny Carson didn't even go there. Johnny Carson would occasionally have presidents on. You would have former presidents to pimp their books or whatever, but he said that he had bipartisan neutrality. They said Carson purposely, purposefully avoided partisan interviews or expressing his own political views on it to prevent alienating his audience, preferring to use his opening monologues to poke fun at both sides. So yeah, people are like, well, late nights, always been political. I'm like, it was general entertainment. We poked fun lately at politicians or whatever, but really you're watching Johnny Carson because you'd like to see him talk to Charo or Dolly Pardon or something, right?

That was the thing. Right. The late night shows, it wasn't like it is now with the politics, constant politics, same with the view until like last, I don't know, 12, 12 years or so. Yeah. And that's when it started to get really insane. It hasn't, it wasn't like that. Like, I mean, yeah, people would have people on, but it was mostly focused on, you know, pop culture news celebrity is that kind of thing. And you oftentimes didn't even know who people actually voted for what they thought because they didn't, they wasn't like their main purpose in life. Like Jimmy Kimmel, one besides the fact he's not funny at all. If he doesn't have anything political to say, he really has nothing to say for the most part, it blows my mind at these people and the same with these journalists. Like they, what are you going to do? You're going to get your way and they have people out of there and then you have nothing to talk about. Yeah. Because they're gone. The people you want to punch all the time are gone. You won't put your own, I mean, not to love and to come to them. So you won't fist yourself. You know, yeah. And honestly, he was really poorly performing. It's been known fact that his show was not doing well. Yeah. Yeah. And I don't think anybody would would miss it if it was gone.

But what would happen was most likely he would just go get a deal to do a podcast or they would just, they could just spit it off into a YouTuber who lose thing, which is maybe that's what their test in the water is to see about doing. And then none of this matters, but the FCC then. Yeah, because the FCC doesn't have any jurisdiction, at least as far as broadcasting license in the equal time will not. They won't force the equal time role there because they don't have the right to do that. But as far as the broadcast license is concerned, they do because they didn't want people, you know, using the news and TV networks to unfairly promote one side over the other. And that was, that was kind of where PBS and NPR and all these other government funded entities went off the rails. They were getting government money, but they were clearly pandering the one side of the aisle. They weren't supposed to do. That's not what they were supposed to do. It's supposed to be like, oh, we have a political. Don't you get sick of it? I mean, seriously, I was just thinking about today and I was ranting to my daughter. I was just like, I am just so sick of it. I'm so sick of everything has to be political, everything.

And if you don't agree with one side, then you're the other side. If you don't agree with that side, then you're the other side. And it's obviously worse on, you know, that people on the left far left act worse than the people on the far right. That is the truth. That being said, though, there's still people on both sides that do it. And it's ridiculous. Not everything has to be about politics 24, seven. I am so tired of it. Like maybe these late night shows would be more popular if they just stop talking about politics and putting politicians on and just talked about entertainment and like pop culture shit and brought guests on like that and then just shut the fuck up, but everything else. Just shut the fuck up. That should, that should be a show. Just shut the fuck up. I can, I'll do it. I'll just go on there. Who is it? Our son, my, our son, say he fully would love to go on Jimmy Kimmel because he was once the rest of hell out of him on TV because he thinks he's not funny. And he's like, well, you know, I asked it. My agent asked me about which show I wanted to be on and I said put me on the funny one, but that show was was, that show was already booked. He was like, he's like, I want to get on there and risk that I got him.

Yeah. I just, my baby Jimmy Fallon, I love it too. One of one of one of Jimmy's, they're all Jimmy. They're all Jimmy. They're too many Jimmy's. Let's, let's talk about this before you get into it. So let's talk about this first. Let's come from the rap. Bernie Kimmel says he will only release his James Tallerico interview on YouTube after FCC threats, best that we can do. Well, that is, and then he, that is the right way to do it. If you're going to play sides with the politics, and we've said this back when it was an issue before, we said, don't know why you're going to get away with it is if you put it on YouTube or streaming. I'll be interviewing James Tallerico tomorrow night under unusual circumstances. He said you know for the whole 20 plus years of our show, in fact, I've been interviewing Americans who are running for office with no problem at all, just like David Letterman,

Jay Leno or seeing a whole Jay Leno actually cold. Exactly. Yeah, except they didn't do it like you, Jimmy Kimmel. They tried to play it fair or not big political too much at all. You keep overly politicizing everything. And let me one guess which side this candidate's on. Oh, yes. I'll give you one guess. Yeah, Kimmel, nobody thinks that you are playing it fair and not being political at all. That is like, okay, that's the funniest thing you said in a while. Arsenio famously had Bill Clinton on it. Remember that because he played the sax. saxophone. Yes, I remember that too. Because it was it was in the intro to animaniacs too. And later you played the cigar. He did. He did. Yes. One time at band camp. He played the cigar. Yeah. Anyway, he said I've interviewed a lot of political candidates from Hillary Clinton, a Ted Cruz to Donald Trump himself. Donald Trump was on 2015. Well, the world went crazy. Jimmy, I'm sorry. The world went absolutely batshit crazy because nobody thought Donald Trump was actually going to win. I didn't think Donald Trump was going to win.

Well, that was back when they kind of they still liked him. Yeah, and then they're like, oh, yeah, this guy 11 years ago, I talked to a Republican once. I tell one time at band camp. I talked to a Republican. Yeah. So as Kimmel went on, it's come from the rap. As Kimmel went on, he claimed Trump at the time seemed to have no problem with the idea of a talk show host interviewing candidates. In fact, he was, well, yeah, because he was going to be a real. So he's very eager to come back for another interview. No, but see him back then though, they weren't playing this, you know, very divisive one side only stuff like they're doing now. It was, okay, 11 years ago, they were happy about it because, you know, because you weren't doing this shit 11 years ago. Let's be honest here. 11 years ago, no one was politically pickled as they are now. Who he was? Huggith a guy. I just like the political pickling. Well, they, you know, the people in the view thought Donald Trump was the greatest thing ever one indoor president before. Two years ago, you can't compare that to apples and oranges because everybody is apples and oranges literally because everybody is so pickled. It is insane.

You cannot do it because it's insane. He said now that he's president, his FCC is threatening me, threatened our show, threatened our network ABC or affiliates or local stations based on simple, traditional editorial decisions. This actually is not true per Disney. In a Walden said they originally were not threatened that they pulled him off the air because of Trump directly. It was the affiliates who didn't want to run this stuff. And he kind of admits it, but not quite. He's being deliberately misleading in this because he doesn't. Oh, shocker. He said he made this decision out of a consideration for our local stations to go to YouTube. A consideration for our local stations, especially our ABC affiliates in Texas who would have to deal with the nonsense. They would probably pull it off the air because I think that's where a lot of problems were. They were, whether they sing Claire stations or whatever. They had a problem with it. But it's violating the rules, guys. But long as short of it, it's not going to be allowed because we are playing political favorites and we're not supposed to do that.

It's not equal. It's violating equal time rules and things. We don't want to cause any more trouble. You know what? That's fine. I'm just, I'm just so tired of the whole thing. It's like, can we just like stop? Just be funny again. How about here's the idea? How about we don't do political candidates at all? Yeah. Maybe it's not like in the political jokes, Kimmel, and try to see the people you're funny in other ways. I would say that if you, yeah, that would actually be fair. I'd just be like, hey, you know, people don't consume their news the way they used to consume their news. So if you want to push a candidate or whatever, you can't do it on broadcast network TV. You can report on them, but you can't pimp them. It's not even that. It's just like I'm tired of hearing about it. I don't care which side they're on. I'm just tired of hearing about it. Like I think everyone is getting really sick of it. I don't care if they're on the left. I don't care if they're on the right. I don't think they need to be on the late night show at all. Like I think there's a take it off. They take this shit off of there and not worry about it because I don't think anybody wants to hear, you know, anybody on either side 24-7 and when you're trying to watch something

to be fun and unwind and be entertaining, it's going to be more things upset. You more shit, more drama. Just don't do it at all. But then if he doesn't have Trump jokes to slam Trump on, he doesn't have anything to say. Yeah, that's the thing because when you built your entire persona, your entire platform on hatred of the other side or whatever, it's like, yeah, when you take that away, you don't have anything. This is what happened with a lot of these shows and outlets when Trump was out of office for four years. They didn't know what to talk about. Like they just like it was boring and then the numbers dropped off. It really has become sports, right? I mean, all of this is just sports as you root for your team. But I think the average person is getting burnt out just across the board. They're sick of it. I don't want to watch it. Like if you start making, you bring up politicians, they want to start making jokes, but I'm going to turn it off. I don't watch. I'm so sick of it. Yeah, I don't watch like, I mean, people are like, well, you guys probably watch the Fox News and the gut felt. No, I have never watched gut felt once in my life.

I have, I have no, like if I'm going to watch something, it's going to be something either entertaining or educational. And if so, as people start getting political, I don't give a shit with side drawn. I'm, I'm usually tuned out. I'm going to watch something that's going to be a ghost show, a K drama or an alien show at the end. There we go. That's really baking championship. That's it. And we're talking aliens. We're not talking illegal aliens to say, you know, like you watch people get rounded up in ice fans. So I was pissed off. And I gotta tell you, I'm not real happy with the, uh, the situation. I'll say I don't give it shit with the white house and the DHS posting all these, these game memes and stuff. Um, they posted one about Optimus Prime turning into an ice truck. Yeah. And it was, uh, you know, age of transformers, age of deportation. I'm like, okay, um, Peter Cullen just passed and his brother was super patriotic and a soldier.

And I, I just, I have a, a real strong hunch. He would not find that funny. It's way too soon. And I'm like, could you just run the fucking country and not that's what's getting me. And I would say the same thing all the time about, you know, when I say it, when Democrats are pushing stuff too, I, the tax dollars, what are you spending tax money on to do this? Like this is not their here nor there. We're going back to to talk about this. But yeah, it seems to be like a waste of time. It's just to just keep people mad at each other. So what are they, what are, as everybody trying to do that, they're trying to make you stay mad at each other. So you're looking the other way because it's just getting ridiculous. I'm just so tired of it. Can we just not anymore, please? No. How about men? Let's just get rid of all of them and then we've been putting new people in. Oh, this is rebuild everything. Well, he looks tight. Doesn't he look tired? Doesn't he look tired? All right. So this is, um, this is come from TMZ. This was a rumor and apparently, uh, Disney slash ABC shot it down. But I do wonder like, like, like, look, people are like, oh, they're going to kick Kimmel off the air. They're going to kick co bear off the air, whatever. Those guys seriously would just go into podcasting and they would be fine.

Well, I'm wondering if what's going on is they're going to do this as a trial. And if it works, they're just going to kick him over to YouTube and streaming. And so he's not, it might be, it might be like changing the format or changing it. It's not that he's the show is getting canceled in a, in a certain, from a certain point of view, for a certain point of view. Yeah. So yeah, that's what, you know, we talked about that before. Like I could totally see them doing that with view. I mean, that's how Bill Mar gets away with it. Bill Mar can say shit. He does because he's not broadcast television. They, they kicked him off of broadcast television. You don't have to agree with him and promoting only certain ones on the aisle, can't just one side of the aisle or then jokes and stuff like that and stuff. You don't have to. But if he goes on to, you know, YouTube, brother, play something like that. He's allowed to do it. Like he doesn't have to be beholden to the FCC rules. He is doing it in the right way. Yeah. So this has come from the, uh, from TMZ, Jimmy Kimmel saying good night to late. Night for good ABC denies and smaller print. He's gone, guys. Uh, Kimmel spent more than 20 years saying good night to viewers on ABC.

He might be doing it for the last time TMZ has confirmed. Now TMZ, you might not like them. They're ambulance chasers, but they're usually right. They're usually right. Uh, Jimmy Kimmel live is reportedly set to end after next season with page six. Okay. So that would be the New York Post. First reporting Jimmy's contract with ABC is not, not expected to be renewed. Well, yeah, he's caused them a lot of problems. And they're probably looking at what's going on with the Colbert and like, you know, somebody else came in and is, you know, paying them to run his show Byron Allen. The comic shows like he's paying them. So they're, they're up. This guy is expensive. Well, they said that there's talk that he has been working on pitching other shows and podcasts around town, which would also lean into him putting this episode on YouTube. Yeah. Proof of concept or whatever. Yep. Like, oh, look at all the views. So what they'll do is they'll buy a bunch of views and be like, oh my God, it's the number one trucker. Yes. Record views. Well, that's just it, guys, because YouTube's basically TV now.

So they're all trying to come over. All the Hollywood people are trying to come over to YouTube now and they're pushing podcasts and commentary. So what's going to happen being real? Is there going to try to push people like us out? And they're going to use, they've got deep pockets. They're mad because everybody else doesn't want to listen to them. So they're going to go to the platform where they're listening to everybody else, trying to kick those people out. So you have to listen to them. Yeah. And then there's no less than you still. And everybody else goes and plays out those followers by everybody someplace else. And don't listen to you. ABC's pushing back calling the report speculation. They're not saying it's not true. They're saying it's speculation. Jimmy has been working on year to year deals. And he's openly talked to recent months about eventually hanging it up. I think this might be what pushes him out on both sides. Because they're going to be like, well, you're getting a sense for me. And I can go get a Netflix deal or something. And then you can say what you want. Yeah. Yeah. Within reason. Yeah. Jimmy hasn't backed away from his longtime feud with Trump. And yeah, he's not going to. He's not going to.

So they're going to become his entire show and personality at this point. I liked it when he just used to talk about like celebrity stuff, like a normal late night talk show host, right? Like that's what they did. I mean, when they become not just him, but like when people's whole personality is somehow related to politics, it's just you want to even know what our which side it's on. I just avoid them like the plague. You know what? I like is Jonathan Freig's and Brent Spiner have a podcast now to guys from Star Trek. Cause I love Star Trek. But they have a podcast and they just talk about, you know, the stuff that happened in Hollywood and stories in Hollywood. And I don't think they get political at all. They just talk about. She's been happened back in the day and people just want. I think that's what the reason people like on YouTube would do better to. They want real people just connecting with real people and not this. And I think things are just entertaining and fun and just go back to just being fun for fun. It's safe when you're trying the world is bad enough place. It's constant stress. You're constantly inundated with political messaging 24 7.

You kind of would like to take a breather. So sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. But you can have a beer and listen to something like this and not to worry about it. Like for most people it's their house, but you know, God. All right. So we got to wrap it up. Yes. Holy subscribe. We'll talk later. Bye. If you liked the show, please take a moment to rate, review and subscribe. It really does help the show to grow. Thank you for listening.
