I want to share something that really caught my attention as a parent. I've learned that myopia, near-sightedness, is becoming much more common in kids, and it's not something you want to ignore. If it goes unchecked, it can have an impact that goes way beyond schoolwork. What really matters is starting with an eye exam, and eye doctor can tell you what's going on with your child's vision and walk you through options that are designed specifically for kids like Esselaer Stelest lenses. I like that Stelest lenses are made for children and fit right into everyday life. They look like regular glasses, but they're part of a more thoughtful approach to managing myopia. If you're a parent and you've been meaning to book an eye exam, this is your sign. Visit Esselaer.com to learn more about Stelest lenses and to find an Esselaer expert eye care professional near you. Well, it looks like Ubisoft is kind of doubling down on you not owning your games. We've talked about this before that their CFO, I think,
said something a couple of years ago that gamers need to get used to not owning their games. Xbox was trying to throw gamers a lifeline, and they're like, well, we've got this new digital program, and you basically can convert your disk into a digital, you know, follow you and have to buy your game again. Well, now Ubisoft is not participating in that, Square is not participating in that, because if you do that, right, you're probably not going to buy the latest digital version that they come out with, the re-re-re-re-re-re-make, you know, whatever game it is. You want to play digitally, you have to go re-buy the game. You have to go re-buy the game. Yeah, we're not going to do that. That's, that's ridiculous. But somebody else could own the game and let the friend bar make a digital copy of it, you know what I mean? So that's the standard they're not going to have there. Well, that's what happened with them. When Voodoo slash FanDango, whatever they're called now, was doing the thing where you could redeem your DVD for a digital copy. You think of your code, the digital code, and then the DVD, and people were taking the digital codes and selling them. They were selling the codes, and they were also going to
libraries and checking out the movies and then taking the movie for them. Because you can only do it once, right? Because whatever the serial was on the list. Right, if you got it first, you could, you could take that code and get it for digital for free. Yeah, yeah. So that's what was going on. And so we'll see, we'll see how this pans out for them. But Ubisoft, they are so hard up for cash at this point. And then SquareSoft, there's been a lot going on there because they were talking. Soft. I'm just saying I like to bear when they were square hard. Like a lot of soft sales. Anyway, well, it has it has been like they're they're trying very hard to course correct. They made a lot of huge mistakes with Western IP. And there was talk that they might even go private. At some point, because of just how disastrous things have been for them. But they are starting to, I guess kind of turn things around a little bit, but they're not going to let you have that that digital copy for free. Are you kidding? We need some money. That's money on the table. I'm charged for galore, you know, right? So let's let's talk about this before you get into the further please
subscribe for more pop culture news, views and rants guys. You'll get who have you do. Go out to clownfishtv.com. That's clownfishtv.com for more clownfish TV podcasts and videos. You'll not find anywhere else. In fact, since we're talking about physical gaming and owning your stuff, I actually put a video up last night, telling about the mod retro. So you can go check that out on clownfishtv.com. So thank you very much for that. Yeah, let's take a look at this. It's come from gaming Bible, major studio, snow box, disc to digital program, which is bad news for sassans, creed and foul fancy fans. Well, sassans, creed fandom is on the decline in foul fancy fans are all old as f at this point. They said the average age of a foul fancy player is like 37. Yeah, so it's because you know, the young people don't play in those games or play it like fortnight and things like that, you know, Minecraft, stuff like that. Well, that's why they're putting everything in the fortnight. Like, oh, if you like this character, you can you buy this game with this character or whatever, but they don't, they don't actually foul fancy. They're going to kind of crisis mood
right now. And I think I'm magic the gathering cards have, have helped them out tremendously because you know, those sold really, really well, but I think it sold to older people whales. Or it's just middle aged whales, you know, I'm not a whale because I'm not that rich, but there were people paying through the nose for magic cards. And again, you know, they're targeting a certain audience. And I think this is kind of same audience that, you know, grew up with a lot of this stuff that just it has not transferred to the next generation. So, you know, they have to get the most amount money they can. And that's probably part of the decision too. They're like, well, they'll buy it again because you know, I want to share something that really caught my attention as a parent. I've learned that myopia, near-sightedness is becoming much more common in kids. And it's not something you want to ignore. If it goes unchecked, it can have an impact that goes way beyond schoolwork. What really matters is starting with an eye exam. And eye doctor can tell you what's going on with your child's vision and walk you through options that are designed specifically for kids like
Esselaer-stellas lenses. I like that Stelas lenses are made for children and fit right into everyday life. They look like regular glasses, but they're part of a more thoughtful approach to managing myopia. If you're a parent and you've been meaning to book an eye exam, this is your sign. Visit Esselaer.com to learn more about Stelas lenses and to find an Esselaer expert eye care professional near you. They're going to. They're 37. They have jobs. They'll buy it again. So, they said, yeah, it's come from Gaming Bible. It said Xbox new revolutionary disc to digital program, which was set to immortalize physical gaming media has been dealt a bitter blow. As it appears to that certain games studios can opt out of the future, it was a sign of intent from Xbox following the announcement that the PlayStation was moving on from discs entirely in the next gen of consoles. The disc to digital program instead gave physical game owners the chance to download their new old and even delisted discs onto consoles and ask access them through the cloud. So again, this is very much like voodoo. However, it seems that feature was too good to be
true. Xbox announced it was limiting cloud gaming time, depending on your game past subscription and locking unlimited hours behind an additional paywall. So, if you upload it to play, you're going to have to pay extra for it and then other gaming places don't want you to do it anyway. Isn't that convenient? Like, oh, look at this great new feature we had. All except plan wrong. Yeah, it's all part of the plan, guys. Oh, you want to play your old games? Oh, awesome. You can do that for 50 bucks an hour. Sure, go for it. Now, it's become clear, not every physical game can be downloaded and some developers appear to have opted out of the chance for the green team to digitize their old games. Xbox gamers report, Ubisoft and Square Enix titles are unavailable on disc to digital. According to multiple posts on X and Reddit, Ubisoft and Square titles are reportedly throwing up an error when trying to be downloaded on the disc to digital program. Players are met with messages stating digital license unavailable and this game is not participating in digital licensing. This means franchise is like
SAS Street Far Cry, Tom Clancy, Final Fantasy Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts won't be able to be downloaded from physical discs to become digitized. That's a blow for Final Fantasy and SAS is Creed fans with a range of old school games passing the test of time. They're still relevant today and you cannot, you cannot access them. So, so I said Reddit, when be surprised that some publishers want to resell their games digital only so they can double dip as much as they can revenue-wise. Exactly. Pretty much. Exactly what they're doing. That's what it's all about. It's all about double dipping. They're like, oh, well, no, we can't do that because they're sitting there like counting their chickens before their hatch. They're like, oh, wait, so Sony is going to go to the digital only. That means all those people that bought our old-ass Final Fantasy games from 15 years ago have to buy another copy if they want to play it. Current Gen Hot Damn, we're going to make more money. Those whales are going to pay us again, but that's not what's happening. So I don't know. I don't think people are going to. I really don't think they're going to. They'll
just keep their old console not by the PS6 or 7. They're where the hell is coming out. Xbox is already revealed that not every game will end up on the program. It's also worth noting that most of the oldest assets created in Final Fantasy games are available on Game Pass. Historically, Square has always lead in favor of PlayStation with Final Fantasy series, Ubisoft has weighed either side, etc. It basically just sounds like, yeah, they're not going to go. They're not going to go for it. They said it says the scary precedent for Microsoft that studios can choose to opt out with others potentially thinking about doing the same with new game releases. That's it. They might be like, well, why are we laying people basically have a free copy of the game again that they bought 10 years ago? I mean, because you've finished a digital copy. Yeah. Yeah, there's math because it's the same damn game, but we don't want you to have played digital as you buy it again. Give it this count. Give it this count. You can upgrade to digital for 20 months. Yeah, it's a switch does.
Oh, you want better graphics from your Switch one game. That's next to $10 or $20. I know, people were pissed about it. I mean, customers, I think they're paying it. But yeah, but ultimately, people are just getting tired of being nickel and dime. So we're just going to do themselves in it. It's going to have to hit. I want to share something that really caught my attention as a parent. I've learned that myopia near-sightedness is becoming much more common in kids, and it's not something you want to ignore. If it goes unchecked, it can have an impact that goes way beyond schoolwork. What really matters is starting with an eye exam. An eye doctor can tell you what's going on with your child's vision and walk you through options that are designed specifically for kids like SLR Stellist lenses. I like that Stellist lenses are made for children and fit right into everyday life. They look like regular glasses, but they're part of a more thoughtful approach to managing myopia. If you're a parent and you've been meaning to book an eye exam, this is your sign. Visit SLR.com to learn more about Stellist lenses and to find an SLR expert eye care professional near
you. Peek, the people are just not going to pay anymore. And like Disney started to find that out with their not-to-scary-helling party out to keep raising the price on it and this year's someone are not selling out because they've hit peak what people will wait to pay until they reach that with gaming and people stop buying shit. They're going to keep raising the prices because they're waiting to see where the line is drawn and they won't go over that. So as long as they will keep buying it, the line's not going to get drawn. That is true. So I guess the guy who found it was Stallion 83 on X and people were asking him like what was the purpose? I said I'm confused. People want digital licenses as games are not. This is having your cake and eating it too. So basically you get to play it digitally on the current gen consoles and you also get to keep your physical copy. But that's not what they want. This guy says, fuck you, be soft. All my homies hate you be soft. This person says it's actually a blessing. You'll know which companies don't give a damn about gamers and which companies to avoid. Well, you be soft already. They basically said the quiet part out loud and they
said that we're going to monetize monetize gamers and you need to get used to not owning your games because that is the end goal. I thought your games is going to open the door though. I'm from there. It's going to be well like we're seeing now. If you want to play more than so many hours, you have to pay more money. You buy the game. You buy the console. But if you actually play these games, you're going to pay more. Yeah. And it's okay. So Bandai and Sega also aren't allowing allowing it. So these are all pretty big players. Now I know Sega is actually going to keep making physical discs. But I'm like, what are you going to make them for? Because if the PS6 is not even going to have a disk drive, what's the purpose? Yeah. It's like, we make a disk for. And like I said, I think we need to, I think we need to go back to this where we have actual consoles with actual cartridge-is or disks that you plug into the machine and you buy it once and you own it. But they don't want that because they want everything to become a subscription. That's what this is all about. This is what the end goal is and eventually even your console will probably become
a subscription. They want you to rent your console. Rent your games. Pay them $50 to $100 a month every month from now until the end of time to access stuff that you technically bought, which is bullshit. Yeah. So anyway, we're going to wrap it up. Yes.
