The Harvard Harris Capsule, whatever it's called, it's a good poll, just came out and it's interesting. Registered voters, among registered voters, Democrats have a very small two-point margin, 51 to 49 in the generic congressional ballot.

But among likely voters, it switches and Republicans have a small gain, 51, 49. And then there's the issue of the midterm convention and the messaging there. Mr. Trump, of course, is saying that pretend he's on the ballot. So let's talk to A. Spolster, John McLaughlin, my good friend, CEO of McLaughlin and Associates. So John, first of all, your polling is actually pretty close, I think, to the Harris vote. The Harvard Harris vote. Yes, we modeled it after a likely voter turn-up, actual turn-up. You use a proper voter list. I mean, the databases of all the voters, trying to hold country, use the voter list, model of the after-turn-up, make sure the demographics reflect what turns out as far as party, et cetera. And Mark Penn from Harvard Harris, he oversees his poll.

And he was either very good pollster for Bill Clinton. So it does reflect an uptick in the Republicans, because the Republicans are starting to play more on offense. I mean, up until last week, there weren't any running any issue against L.C. So he had a Michigan. My graduate was kind of on the phone. And Trump's now authorizing, the president's now authorizing, his advisors start spending money out of, they have hundreds of millions of dollars that they've raised. But if we don't rate it, I mean, my last poll, which was August 24th, we had the Republicans down on engineering talent, you know, likely voter model. But on the other hand, if they ran as a Republican who supports free market capitalism versus the Democrat who supports big government socialism, the Republican goes from being gowned to being off its like a 12-point term. The Republicans have 47 points. They run ahead with Independence 3735. They get 39% of his backs. They take more, three to two, they went among those who were previously undecided for Congress.

So I think you saw that in the Harvard Harris poll, the candidates themselves organically are getting more aggressive. That's what the midterm convention has to do about. Not just the Republican accomplishments, not just, as you said, the economy is the greatest story I've never told. Right. But they have to position that against one of the Democrats going to do if they get elected. By the way, this week, we've got a poll that boosts Blakelings within four points of the whole school in New York. Right. And she's on the water. She's got a 55-unfairable and bruises light. But it's all about the policies. It's about the issues. She's got deficits in New York state, New York cities, pulling money from upstate taxpayers that subsidized Mandani and Mandani, sitting on a bunch of tax sites that he wants, like 2% corporate payroll taxes, several other things, sitting on these tax sites until after

the election. And Blakelings running on cutting taxes. He's not only one and cutting utility bill. So if the Republicans is running aggressively in New York's at 2-1 Democrats state, if they run aggressively, we can get enough voters. We can win the independence, maximize all the Trump voters, get the Trump voters back out. But also, you need Democrats. You need common sense Democrats to flip through Republicans. They don't want big government socialism. Well, look at them. There's an economic boom going on. Jobs, manufacturing, construction, working folks, blue collar jobs, John. GOP's got to get that out. And the Dallas Convention. In other words, their policies of lower taxes, deregulation, drill baby drill, which I regard as free enterprise policies, not big government socialism. Just make that case.

Look what free market capitalism is producing. The best boom in this century, in 25 years. How about that? Make that point. Absolutely. And by the way, having worked for Donald Trump in a business since 2011 and been through presidential elections with him, there's always a difference in opinion. But those of us who were there that helped him create this movement of middle class, working Americans from the partly end, whether it was the sum belt or the rust belt, we put these voters together because Donald Trump was our leader. He put in the tax, in 2016, his tax cut was the plan that you did for him. Including the depreciation, which may be the single most powerful tool. Yes, and it's worked. And manufacturing jobs are coming back. Yes, we're college jobs. We come back wages growing again. We're growing out of inflation. Yes.

And if the Democrats succeed in winning the House and the Senate, they not only will repeal those or undermine those policies, what they'll do is they'll reverse them. You will have government-run healthcare, which would be really bad. You'll have higher taxes. You'll have more debt to the spending, etc. And you'll have all from borders where they're giving social services to illegal immigrants instead of trying to help Americans who are in need. But it's like that contrast has to be made in Dallas and that's my point. There's different viruses around President Trump. We have different ways to look at the world. And I'm like, I want them to play offense and expose the Democrats. You got it. You got it. John McLaughlin, ace, polster, I think we'll run out of time. Love talking to you. The Republicans are in the game.

It's not clear. They're in the game. That's the important thing. And they can take this midterm election. But they got to fight for it. That's the message. Welcome. Thank you. So much. Folks, we'll take a break on the other side. We're going to do some stock market work. I'm Cudlow. Stay with us.
