John Wall's New Role: NBA Star to Howard's HOOP Dreams

On April 30, John Wall just stepped into a big new role as president of basketball operations

for Howard University's men's basketball team, right? After hanging up his NBA sneakers,

the 35-year-old is already knee-deep in recruiting top talent, building the roster,

handling name, image, and likeness deals, and mentoring, players. Howard's program is on Fire 2,

grabbing their first-ever NCAA tournament win this year against UMBC. Earlier this year,

Wall kicked things off as honorary captain for a game at Howard, an HBCU in DC, and that sparked

his interest in jumping into the front office. Now he's sitting in on team meetings,

scouting recruits, and steering the whole direction of the squad. Wall's NBA legacy is straight fire.

He was the number one overall pick out of Kentucky, dropped 18.7 points and 8.9.

Assist the game on average, and made five all-star teams with the wizards, rockets, and clippers.

Injury slowed him down later, leading to his retirement last August.

He's teaming up with head coach Kenny Blakeney and general manager Daniel Marks

to keep Howard rolling as one of the top mid-major teams hitting the NCAA tournament three times

in four years. This full circle move back to DC has wall-channeling his elite vision and to

growing the next wave of ballers from the front office.
