Now on to the clips. First day we have Adam Corola show 2773. This is from March of 2020. We tend to stay out of the COVID era mostly pandemic stuff. Play some of it, there's no rules about it. It's just sometimes it will dreary and it's also not that far in the past. However this episode seemed like it'd be a foam of the play. This episode is featuring Kevin Bacon, Gina Graham Bryan, Fishup, Adam Gina and Bryan in the studio doing like a full hour long episode.

Just fun vibe of what that show was at right before things got weird. And then Kevin Bacon joining the phone is like the beginning of the social distancing era. Interesting hybrid of how the show was evolving. They even did intro outros for both segments. Very reminiscent of how the show was produced back in 2010. When they would do two partners but they would break them up with intro and outros and still release them on the same day. Sometimes recorded back to back, sometimes paired together. Ten years later repeating the format they had abandoned. Interesting. Hope you guys enjoy Adam Kroelsock, 2773 from March of 2020. Good day Gina Graham. Good day to you. And Paul Bryan, we've got Tom Hanks and quarantine and force gump in the in the wide house. Oh, so so good. Hmm. That was from Joy Bay. I got you back. All right. I'm curious what everyone, however, when we're reacted over the weekend when things got ramped up quite a bit. I just one out and did what I do.

Now I. I'm on the audience. Yeah, I when I drop look at these moments in time, all I think is, oh less traffic for me. I got here in 23 minutes. And if you know where I live, that is a, that is a, that's a, that's a flash. Find the sorry, Max Patta, but ask Matt, the poor son Punisher fondle, the two sushi joints he was trying. He made reservations for on Friday night. One was full. The other wasn't, but I have an interesting observation. Yes, I drove to the laugh factory on Friday night. No, actually it was Saturday night. I drove Friday and Saturday night. But on Saturday night, I came off the Hollywood freeway. I was driving down Highland, passing the Hollywood Bowl, turning right on the Franklin by the big age church there. Yep. No backed up car. That's what I'm plus. No ride most of the time. No, nothing. It gets backed up. It gets brutal. And I just blew right on through that place.

Sweet your toe. Full Omega Man style. Wow. I had an interesting, there was an interesting thing I noticed though. I said, oh, okay, well Friday, after I do my set. At the laugh factory, let's go get some sushi because the sushi places that are normally packed are going to be packed either. So not only said drive going to be good, but we're going to eat some good sushi. And the best sushi place was the one we tried first. Yeah, it's called no boo. No boo, right? No boo. They're welcome. So the thing that was funny is no boo didn't have anything available. Everybody had the same plan. They were. Nope. So no boo is really goddamn good. It's high end. It's always goddamn busy. And even during the coronavirus was busy. I couldn't get a thing there. Then and up going to where? Cuts, yeah. Cuts, yeah. Which is not much worse. Which is good. It's good. Really good. It's not as good. It's just good, you know what I mean? No, that's our jam.

And we're able to get a table there. So what I'm saying is there is a sort of method to the madness even in the panic. The place it's really packed is still it's less busy, but it's still hard to get a table. And the place it's one half a notch below we could get a table at. So do you have a similar experience on Saturday or just Friday? Saturday we did Friday we did the sushi. Friday I went and the laugh factory was packed. Well, that's nice. Yeah. This is a good this is a good thing. And then as I was driving to the laugh factory on Saturday night once again, and it was really quiet outside, I thought, what are the chances it can be packed on Saturday night? It was not packed Saturday night. There was a big drop off. Okay, so that's interesting you mentioned that I think I it's hard to remember what happened when but something happened between Friday and Saturday because we had dinner plans both nights Friday and nights at dear Johns and Culver said he's very hot place and

we got reservations weeks ahead of time. We went it was packed. This is the one that our couple friend dropped out because they had a little throat tickle. So we went by ourselves. It was packed and like you said, the good places they're still packed. On Saturday we had dinner plans at another pretty hot restaurant, Scopa and on the west side managed by a fan of the show by the way. So if you go there side, it's out of the GM. And we went we at the last minute we decided, you know what the couple were going with. Let's just invite them over. Let's get Scopa take out. Let's get rid of the restaurant. And when Kristi went to get the take out, she's like, it was about half full. It's like something happened between Friday and Saturday. You know, there was a big wave of like a way or whatever it was. Big difference. Yeah. Big difference. Yeah. And like I said, you can use a lot of yardsticks to measure it but pack, laugh factory packed on Friday night. Saturday's usually even a busy or night for comedy clubs. And it was it was, it was half too less than half full. A noticeable difference.

Noticable. Noticable difference. And then, but I went out Friday and I went out Saturday and then everything else just got canceled. Right. And roughly after that. Hey, quick before we move on, I was like, why does Scopa sound familiar? Wasn't that the restaurant they did Jeff Greens surprise party at Kervin enthusiasm? I was definitely so. I mean, I don't know that. That's why I popped into my head. If you think so, I think so. I believe so. And it said had to sign out from. Yeah. Listen, nobody's traveling for months, possibly years. But the next time you come to LA, Scopa's a great restaurant and it's managed by a fan of the show. So say hi. So I, I, again, I went out on Sunday and had like brunch with my sister in an empty restaurant that you would normally have to wait and line for to have brunch. Well, I was fine with that. And then Sunday night I had Mexican food with sunny and a restaurant that's normally packed and it wasn't packed either. So if you're not, these are the practice of social distancing now. If you're not uptight about it, yeah, that's my social distancing.

Go for it. There's no one there. They're empty. Yeah. So I've just been going about my day. I had, I actually, I thought this might bring a little, a mirth to the people. I recorded the first four or five minutes I did at the laugh factory on, on Friday night was kind of corona centric, you know? And topical timely topical corona humor. I've actually been finding these jokes that I like. So I told August, you know, you're going to be sitting in the green room and we're going to be like, Pekip scene 11 years and you're, and you're going to hear me up there going, remember that corona virus? What? And then going to my jokes and I kind of, I've kind of, I've kind of like. So I recorded just my phone up on the stool, up on stage until max a padded, just rip it down to three minutes and we'll play. This is, take out the bad stuff. Friday, yeah, it's, I told them, tighten it up.

Right? No, he said just left alone. Friday night, laugh factory, coronavirus. Wow, crazy week, right? This is insane. This is a second like my world is upside down, my head is spinning. Jesus Christ, can you believe that ending to the bachelor? Right down, man. I would be with my parents and I would shut the hatchling with my own blood. I would forever call on him and I would throw it on. Breathe out, dude, what are these wet naps for? It's so deep into that bachelor's here, it's right on the bottom of my head. Silly sick or something else? No, everyone's, oh, I think about it today. Like everyone's fucking hoarding. You see these people getting their fist bites over charming and the island is safe.

First off, people would happen are dignity. You're not supposed to fucking do get out with other middle-aged people over toilet paper. If somebody's supposed to fend your under and then you challenge them to a duel, it's sunrise. Fucking fighting over ass vapor. Well, other fat people scream next to you. There is, now it's funny because we have laws against gouging. You're not allowed to goug. So if our hurricane blows through, I'm not allowed to go to Home Depot by 100 sheets of plywood for 34 bucks and then charge you 150 bucks for the plywood. There is no gouging. We have rules. Hurricane, you can't do it for like diesel fuel or generators. All these rules about gouging, but we have no fucking hoarding rules. Why don't we have hoarding rules?

You're going to try to buy two boxes of suit-a-fan or whatever it is. You can't, Dr. Drew said to me, my wife won't even try to buy two boxes of suit-a-fan because they have triplets. They wouldn't sell it to her. The middle-aged chick from Pasadena is making fucking bathtub skeet. We have rules. We do have fucking rules. You go in and you go, I need a 128 rolls of shardin. Someone's got to go, how many assholes do you have? Well, I know there's two. There's the one you walk in with and then there's you. Are you fucking Mormon? Like what's going on? By the way, why is toilet paper if you're going to hoard move? I understand diesel batteries. I understand ammunition.

I understand cans of beans. Oh wait, maybe the cans of beans are leaving for bed. Guys, carrying a case of beans out of the car going, wait a minute. I've been forgotten something. I feel like I could go a year without toilet paper. You'd be rough, but I could do it. Let's start with the sped tube socks. It eventually worked my way to my dog's tail. But I'd live. I'd be a most delivered. Although if you came here to use toilet paper for bartering, I might want it for that. Just literally hot, or any neighbor chick out of toilet paper. I just pushed my dick through it and go, hey baby. I think it would come out the other side. I'd be like, hey, but take my word for it.

Okay. Put my nuts in there and spill out the other side. So we did a little hoarding toilet paper. I was trying to time away here where it was. Thinking, how could I not do bed? That's a top everyone's mind. I got it. I didn't record it, but I got a big laugh the next night, where I went like, I know everything's bad. I know it's bad. All the news is bad. But there is some good news. Like, I'm here to tell you, everyone's like, start to lean for it. And I went, school shootings are way down. Oh my god. Chris, he said the same thing to me, not in a funny way. Right. And had to be said. So they got a nice relief last night. You know what I'm waiting for? I'm waiting for the PSAs and the big billboards to say, because you're not supposed to stay away six feet from people. Six feet away or six feet under. Aren't you waiting for that PSA?

Well, speaking of the PSAs, when I was looking at the freeway signs that said, like wash your hands and blah, blah, blah, blah. I was like, oh, yeah, we could use these for something. Well, there we go. We could do good if we if we needed to. It can be done. It doesn't all have to be click it or ticket or buzz driving is drunk driving. It's like, wash your hands. Stay healthy. Avoid COVID-19. Okay. My thing is wash your hands or drive like champions or stop blaming your parents or something could just be up there all the time. Yeah. It doesn't need to universal timeless messages. I would like someone that's just go be early to work for 10 days in a row. Yeah, just like stuff like that out there. Did you work out today? Did you hug your kids? Did you pick it up your dog poo? Wave to your neighbor? Yeah, wave to your neighbor. Like anything but click it or ticket. We have a network of incredible signs that tens of millions of people have to pass by every single day.

We could put anything on there we want. Let's use them for some good, right? That's right. All right. I had an earnestly big at thought. Oh, good. Oh, if anything was very a Friday's, Friday's before someone decided to tell people to wash your hands. I don't know why they couldn't have told people to wash their hands on Friday. I feel like we've known about this thing for a while. Friday's red, freeway sign, red. Yep. Do not drive in texticated. I saw that. Go to say like, first off, half the people in this town either can't read or can't speak English. So the notion and also, It just goes safely. Right. You are forcing everyone to stare at that sign for an extra three Mississippi to try to figure out with this new made up word of in text. Yeah. How many people looked at it for how long? You can't remember what the hell that word was. That's the guy in front of them. Let's not be cute. Let's be clear. We'll, we'll go home and watch Netflix.

We want to laugh. We want to commute. Let's be clear. Oh, yes. Speaking and watching Netflix, I tweeted a very comprehensive list of movies that are streaming on Netflix, Amazon, HBO and Hulu. These are all movies I particularly like or love. And so there's pinned to my Twitter profile. It's on Instagram, the Adam Crowell show, reach me at this. But a lot of people are finding this very helpful. What's the asterisk? Those are, those are my personal like five star all time favorites. Like that, those are the ones that I'm like, yeah, this is, this is like one of my all time. I personally love this movie. I don't want to bum me out, but you misspelled driven. Just wrote dry. I know. I, there are a couple of typos and I have, I should have caught that. That one's that super gay one about the, I know people are going to accidentally end up with that stupid Ryan Reynolds movie instead. Mine is a classic. It's a classics alone movie where he plays the Hummer. And he's picking up quarters with us. You just got to get back. I know. I take change.

I edit that. Well, just put the pop the end of the on this. Because you're going to steer people apart and pun like a different direction. It's a good point. So we'll do a ball. I'll give out a few recommendations to people. Yeah. Does down down the, this week sometime. So earnestly big at a thought. Mm. Uh, earnestly was, uh, while I'll just become earnestly big. Thank you. All right. Don't speak for him. For a person's always better. You ever earnestly big at music. We have doing banjos anywhere. Maybe we'll come up with something. I'll, uh, I'll ask you guys. Max, put it right down there. Earnestly big at music. Yep. Okay. Uh, I'm just asking. Mm. Um, I don't think white people got it right at the store. You know what I'm saying? Explain. Well, white, we, what, and I'm just asking. We hoard, right? Right. So what we do is we get a more toilet paper than any man could use and we pay retail.

Full freight. Mm hmm. For it. And then, you know, there's almost no resale value on toilet paper. Oh, well. You know, some of that stuff. It's depreciate. It's just going to outlive a lot of us. Right. So we go in there and we buy like milk and eggs. These things are perishable and toilet paper and we pay full. Full freight. We pay top dollar for it. And that's, that's what why do you do? Now, black people loot. So what they do, we hoard. You know, they loot. They go in and get high end electronics for free. Yeah, I don't think all black people do. Well, no, there's not been obviously there's a couple outliers that are. There's a couple outliers that aren't looters. Obviously. But what I'm saying is is I think we should take a page from their playbook. And we're paying all this money for toilet paper and they're getting high end electronics for free. And you're standing in line with the friend list. We're standing with suckers. Like suckers. You think the door is using the door and they're getting a 60 inch Sony plasma TV for free.

I just paid $400 for Sharman. Yeah. And after you've been working two hours after a certain line and bought that Sharman who bags your groceries. Right. You. Right. You can sell bag. Okay. I don't know if what to say. I'm not saying I'm putting these people down. I'm just asking. Like, why can't we emulate that? You know what I mean? Yeah, that makes us sucker here. All of us. That's right. That's right. Why are you waiting in line? I'm just asking. Ernest is opening eyes. It's funny. You should say that because over the weekend my fiance said all this crazy panic hoarding. He dubbed it so great minds. I must think alike him and Ernest white collar looting. Yeah. Well, I was thinking about it. It's like white collar. The folks of those TV shows like Horders or whatever. I bet the producers of that show have the exact opposite problem of the producers of the show cops.

Do tell. Well, I have interviewed the guys who produce cops. And they have said probably more off the air. We got to balance it out a little. Got to get some white faces in there. You know, sometimes it's a little struggle to hit that balance. And Horders must just go. We've had the same 51 year old redhead chick on the last 26 episodes. Like, we need a little. Oh, what can we do? We're going to have to cook something or do something because I don't feel like the brothers hoard. Yeah, they're not representing the Horders. No, we're that's our territory. Yeah. And I'll bet I don't know how many episodes of Horders there have been. But I'll bet you they're almost exclusively white. But in a day when you have to balance everything out, although I don't care. If it's a negative activity, then who cares? Right. It's white people doing something negative, like hoarding.

I bet they got to stretch a little to get a little flavor in there, a little black Latino. You know what I mean? Yeah. Good luck finding a gay hoarder. Oh, yeah. They're into order, not hoarder. Yeah, organizing. Yeah. Order not hoarder. That's right. Yeah. I wonder. I don't know how long Horders have been on. I know I had a family friend that was in Horders. They're a featured. I was like, I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do that. This is my mom said when she was bragging. I was like, I just love. I love what my family can brag about. Like, how's Merleine doing? She's doing good. She is. Yeah. Yeah. She was just a feature in episode of Horders. Oh. Was she holding the boom mic? So she the expert talking to the person. She's staging the intervention. Yeah, exactly. It's filled the not doing so well. All right. That's all shot and Freud, right? Is anyone want to see that? But it makes me uncomfortable that I have black people. I mean, I know you have to balance it out.

I don't know how you've. It's not like love connection. When there used to be like love connection, the special black couple of attention. I don't think they do that anymore. All right. So I honestly just wants to know. Robert 27 Tulsa. Hey, that was. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I love y'all's music. Most songs, y'all recommend on the show. I ended up down low. So. I don't know if you had any maybe one or two deep cuts. And are some of your favorites. That uh, maybe. The average person would know about. Um, it's funny. I've had this song sitting around for in my head for a long time. It's a deep cut. Dawson by foreigner. Or by Lou. What's his name from foreigner? I can't remember if it's Lou Graham. Lou Graham. Uh, Blue Monday is it? Um, I think I think it's called. There's a midnight blue by Lou Graham. And then there's a blue morning.

Blue morning by forna. By forna. I like both those blue forna lead man songs. And I know. Oh, it's a. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Oh, it's a different Lou Monday. Different blue Monday. Um, and I'm not a huge foreigner guy, but I like blue morning. Blue morning. Blue morning. Blue morning song. And, um, I've never talked about it on the. Blue morning. Blue day is what I'm saying. That's right. It's got a good riff. I've never talked about the song ever.

I've never talked about this song ever. I just always realize I like it. Lou Graham's got a good voice. He's got one of the greatest rock and roll voices ever. In fact, he sings with Alan Parsons on Alan Parsons' new record. Believe that. Do you know this one, Maxopana? No, I don't. Well, you better get it. Get it? No, I don't. He's finger-popping music. It is. I like this riff. I've always... All right. Yeah, man. Hey, Chris. People can't leave the house now, but when they did, they wanted to have a good time. You know what I mean? Enjoy themselves. Yeah. Listen in the songs that held together, you know? Beginning middle end.

Let's just guys, shops. You say you might send a letter. Well, honey, don't tell a phone, because I won't be alone. I need someone to make me feel better. Good morning, good day. You've never had this on my list of classic rocks or whatever, but it's a good song. Good morning, can't you see? And it's got a riff that stays with the song. You know, speaking of blue songs. Two blue songs just popped into my mind that I love, but they're pretty popular. Of course, everybody loves baby blue, bad finger. Sure. But our health familiar are you with Blue Sky, Almond Brothers. I know that song. And then... That's my favorite. There's Mr. Blue Sky, E-L-O. If anyone wants to be put in a better mood, go that direction in these times.

Great song. Yeah, yeah. All right, so we just put together three or four blue songs. Blue songs. When you're feeling blue, listen to these songs. This is a good road trip in music. All right, Dave Betts. We got the J-Hawks, Blue 2. Of course. Brian, pressure's on you. Any blue? Fuck. I love this song. Great, great hook. Doesn't I know you like this song? You must. Oh, yeah. No, I got a framed poster in my house at Dickie Betts. There it is. It says, thanks. Dickie Betts. Hey, Robert. Yeah. All right, you got Mr. Blue Sky. You got Blue Morning Blue Day. You got Blue... What's the other blue-gram blue, midnight blue? Midnight blue. You got Blue by the J-Hawks and... Blue Sky and Baby Blue. And Baby Blue. Sounds good to me.

And yeah, of course, the bad thing or Baby Blue. Not a deep cup, a problem of favorite blue song until I can think of another one. Who? That's right. Behind blue eyes. Behind blue eyes. No one knows what is right. I'm myself extra credit for getting that song in a second. Good song. Yeah, what a deep cut. Or you could just say any Frank Sinatra song. It's good. All blue eyes. It's good. Behind blue eyes. Yeah, the song just kicks. It kicks in when it comes in. It just comes in, you know? Robert did call and ask for songs that have the word blue in them, right? No. He just wanted deep cuts. I just happened to... I know, that's where we went. Slide in. Yeah. I love the who. All right. Let's talk to Nikki over here. 33 from Seattle, Nikki. Nikki. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm bringing Nikki. It's damn I'm impressed.

I haven't breasted yet. Oh, I got the wrong line. Sorry. The line four. Hey, Nikki. Sorry. Yeah, Nikki. Go ahead. Hey, sorry. I'm just wanted to say I can meditate. Yeah. Well, you're a Seattle too. That's the epicenter right now. Yeah. You know, you can... We can turn this into some form of lemonade. I'll tell you this. A weird little thing. It may not sound like it means much, but it... It means a lot. I just interviewed Kevin Bacon. You guys will hear that for an hour when we're done here. Kevin Bacon said... His wife, Kira Sedwick, married since 88, I think. I mean, they've been married. Built to last. Hollywood years. Oh, my God. It's like 3,300 years. You know, it's 3,300 years. Right. He said, for the first time ever, his wife of 32 years, like said, I want us to build a puzzle together and got like a 500-piece puzzle and put it down on the table and said, we

should build a puzzle. And I know that's good. And then I said, later on, I said, you know, I'd be deal with stress or whatever and he goes, I meditate, you know, and then he goes, actually, for the first time ever, Kira and I did it together today. And I thought, oh, that's all a residue of this. You've been married to a woman for 30-something years. You both meditate and never done it together. That's coronavirus. That's overliving. That's bringing it out. Yeah. For me, it's like traffic love. I asked me to do a ton of Jake's soft puzzles. So... You do a ton of Jake's soft puzzles? That's perfect. Jake's soft puzzle. I do. This is perfect. Jigsaw had a song called Sky High. By the way, in the deep cut in the deep cut in the Department. Oh, the skull. The skull. The skull. The skull. I wish it had a word blue and it was called Sky High by Jigsaw. What's the attraction of Jigsaw, Nikki? Jigsaw puzzles. And by the way, in my mind's eye, you just put on 45 pounds. But keep going. Okay, I promise I don't weigh that much, but here's the thing.

Who knows when you started at my mind's eye? Could have had you starting at 63 pounds. Rail, thin. Yeah, I'm being honest. You're healthy. Is that a put down? Well, I mean, at this point, I'm just saying, you're just... Yeah, food. So, hopefully I'll lose 20 pounds. But, no. I mean, it's just so you let their cut. That's how the pieces are cut. So they're not like as even as a normal puzzle might be. Yeah. What do you build? What do you make? What photos or depictions? What image do you like the best, the images, when you do a Jigsaw puzzle? Oh, I like this one. Artists, his name is Charles Bizino and it's like cities. But it's not like a real life photo of those cities. It's just like an artist depiction of these certain cities. And I like doing those. What do you do with them when you're done?

Take them apart immediately and start a new one. You don't frame it. You do the spray glue. I had a thought. No, I went... You're good at this. Don't put the picture on the box or anywhere. That's a shot. It's called Figured Out Bidge Puzzles. Where you have to do it at the end, it's a grotesque bouquets. See? Exactly. Exactly. If you didn't know, do you know, you always know what you're going to find. Wait, hello? Yeah. It's just the only way I can do it. Is too wide. Oh, why not looking at them because it makes me feel smarter. Oh, you don't look. It's under the 15 pounds right there. Do you have a... Just went to Morbuleo Bees from Hevy said. Do you have a... I'm puzzled. I'll send you a picture of me in where you've ever looked after yourself.

Oh, please. I show it in a silhouette when she came for a mangrove or like a crow that drinks party. I went to the one in Seattle. This was like, we're five years ago. But, um, yeah. I'm such a fan and I just like needing to call you guys right now. I just want to... Things are crazy. A couple things. If anyone out there has pictures of me when I've never looked happier, please don't show them to my wife. Unless she's in the picture. Yeah, I was happy. If she's in her picture, then... Well, it'll go. Well, it'll go. Right. But don't label them that way and then show them to the limit. Okay? Because you're sure. Tempting fate. Yeah. Yeah, never looking happier is an indictment on the marriage. A number one. Number two, Nikki. If you don't want to know what's on that puzzle, well then do you have a puzzle valet who goes in and buys the puzzles for you and then puts them in a burlap bag and brings them home to you?

I mean, obviously. I mean, yeah, she probably does it without guidance of the box. You see the box when you pick it out and then you don't guide. You don't use it for guidance anymore. True. Exactly. But isn't the purest version of this my figure it out, bitch. Puzzle series where there's nothing on the box. Those puzzles exist. They do. They're called mystery. Yeah, they're called murder mystery puzzles. And they do exist where you don't have any... Sort of idea. What's on that? You know, they should all be a big picture of you and a guy holding a knife right behind you. That's the last piece you put in. That's the guy who's not. It's like, and I know what you did last summer situation. It's you killing somebody. Right. Right. Hey, Nikki. Yeah. What is your... What job are you staying home from today? All right. Um, but I... Wait, sorry. You cut it off for a second there, babe. Oh. We're never going to know.

No. You hear me? She's yell out. No. You job. Can you hear me now? Yes. Okay. Um, a restaurant job, but I'm a former paralegal and I just had a job interview last week. That weren't really well, but I... They're all staying home from work right now. So. I'm not going to be a manager of searching. Yeah. But a good time to be in the puzzles. Yeah. Exactly. That would be a thing. I filed for on a... Well, I went this morning, which is like something I never imagined I would ever do. But that's okay. Just where we're at. Well, and the next time somebody makes fun of you for staying home with your puzzles, you go, oh, well, it's interesting because Kevin Bacon seems to think it's good enough for him and Keira. That's right. So we're going to lead fraternity. Uh, thanks. Exactly. Appreciate it. Thanks for taking my call. Thank you for listening. Love you. Love you.

Love you. That could be a fun addition to Adam's monthly nut and Adam Carola Jigsaw puzzle. You can get those made pretty cheap on like group on and stuff. Yeah, that'd be fun. Oh, you can. Yeah. We're looking to do it. Send them a picture. Yeah. You said you'd just email the picture and they put it on a puzzle and send it back to you. Good grandparent. We looked into it. Who's we? Well, Kristina, I looked into it for the grandparents for her parents. I love you guys. But for Tessa, it wasn't. It wasn't I don't like you individually. A couple is a couple. You have like crazy powers. You're like, son of a bitch. You're like, hummus. You can't just spoon it out of the container. But you give me a peanut chip. I'm in heaven. That's right. She's your peanut chip. Peanut chip. You tell her I said that. She's like, Bella cleanser. You guys are so great. I love all the stuff. It's a good thing about doing. It's a good present. All right. Let's see. I have. I also went by my dad's place and took the trumpet from him. The extra trumpet. Oh, right. The spare trumpet. Sitting on $7,500 worth of trumpet.

I want to find out from Matt what I paid for the expense of it. And someone keeps saying five grand. But I wouldn't be surprised it's not $5,300 or something like that. I had him play both trumpets and record that. I don't know if you can tell the difference. Well, you know how nobody ever does what I want them to do ever. I do a lot to this. I said to him, play a song. And then I'd go A and B. Like, if he'd play Tangerine, he'd go, Ba da da da da da da da da da da da. And then you'd hear an A and a B, right? But instead, he just kind of tinkled where you didn't really get your A and your B because who knows on any given whatever kind of scatting a little bit. And it's still interesting and still kind of hard to tell. And I'll be curious with you guys. Like, look, either way, an old man who doesn't play for a living could just play the $2,500 trumpet. You were thinking you get by. 3,000. All he's doing is annoying his neighbors.

You know what I mean? He's not actually not a paid gig. But I had him play both trumpets and I took one back. And my dad did this thing. I don't know if you guys ever know the, if you ever know the thing where you know the people are those sort of conveniently confused about stuff. You know, it's like the person. That's the way out of Shurrayaligo. You know, he never paid me the thousand. I couldn't swear. I didn't pay back for that. I didn't pay back for that one. I think we squared up on that. Yeah. I'll check my records. Yeah. And they're like, oh, last time went out to dinner, I thought I paid. No, I paid. It's like, well, why did you think you paid the other person paid? Did you think that my dad gets a little confused sometimes? Quite good. Yeah. It's like when he, when he released his car and he was under mileage and it was time to return

it. I kind of gave him the whole speech about I pay for the mileage and then later on he didn't drive it. I was like, you're not driving the car. I pay for the mileage. I prepay for the mileage. I got to turn it in under mileage and he's like, yeah, how'd that work again? You drive it. I pay for it. Yeah. You're 75 at this point in your life. I think you could wrap your mind around that. But a lot of people kind of do a, I didn't hear what you said or I don't really know what you're saying. Yeah, I did kind of pulled one of those with Trump. But first, all right, we have the, we have the, oh, yeah, it was a 3000 plus plus tax. I've never Trump it. Anyway, we have the one that my dad wouldn't, wouldn't, wasn't good enough for him and then there's the one he went picked up. But when my dad did, it's one of those moves where he goes like, yeah, did Matt, you know, kind of like take care of the trumpet thing. Right. You know, I got it from the store and I'm like, yeah, it's, it's taking care of because otherwise

you're the angry if you just walked in and took the $300 or the trumpet and laugh. Yeah. So he was going to do this thing where it's like, so Matt, it was like the business, kind of took care of that one, you know, and I was like, what business are we talking about? He's like, the credit card with the business thing, it's like, Dad, I bought you the trumpet. You know, like I was trying to do this thing where it's like, oh, it's a write off because I bought my dad a brass instrument. I do a podcast and maybe this because I'm talking about it. Wait, get Tony Reid on the club. It's a lot of content now. But the point is, is like, he was trying to do it is kind of in a weird magical thing, like the credit card paid for it from the business. So it's not really coming out of your pocket, right? And this is an apprattle. And the company, oh, the corporate card. Right. It's a version of what my dad did with the trumpet. Here's the trumpet, Mr. Patis. Yes. My dad did with the trumpet is what my mom did with taxes like five years ago.

She's like, but rich people don't pay taxes. I was like, I know you like to think that because you don't pay taxes and then you take taxes from rich people. Very good. The opposite. You should know that's not how it works. Anyway, we'll play you, we'll play you A and we'll play B. And I happen to know which one is, which one is which? I play the same, play the same song, I suppose, with a sound. I suppose it sounds different. The way it sounds. All right. And we'll hear the second one.

36 hundred bucks with tax was the expensive one. I'm not here in two grand difference there. I'm not here in two dollar difference. Any disparity that can be heard is based on the fact that he was warmed up when he got to the second trumpet. Yeah. I was going to say, I can tell which one he likes better, but not which one's more expensive. Well, it was funny. So you guys tell me what you think, which one was the bad one, which was the good one. I don't think it was bad, but we said more expensive versus the first one. The first one sounded a little richer to me, but I don't know shit about. Do you have second instruments? I have zero idea. They sounded exactly the same, but he really went on a long stroll on that second one. So I think he likes that one better. I'm going to go with the second one. The first one was the inexpensive one and the second one was the more expensive one. And the thing is, no. Oh, I screwed that up. Yeah, the first one was the expensive one. The second one was the inexpensive one.

That's exactly the same. We played the last two takes. The expensive one. Which one was returned? The cheap one. Okay. Oh, wait, could you hear it on the tape when I played it when you played it? Yeah. Working it out. Oh, what's the first one? Sorry, this is not for you guys because he did three altogether. I just took the last two. What was the first one? So the first one he did, the inexpensive one, then he picked up the expensive one. Right. So what he did is he picked up the inexpensive one and he kind of mailed it in. And then he picked up the expensive one and why a lot of that. That's why I talked about that. That's what I was facing it on. There's always that. It's kind of reminding me of, hey, OJ, try this glove on it. Okay. Okay. Okay. Old man played the cheap trumpet. Okay. I don't know. I'm going to be like what is the information we're trying to pour spaghetti into a calendar. What I love is, oh, he hit a step. Why, hit my stepmom and his wife at the field goal swung it around knocked over a vase. Whoa. I can't get the title of this thing. How many times is this happening to you?

All right. So there was, there was that. But I would say no discernible difference. Maybe if you do it professionally, maybe if my dad joined the band cake. Sure. Then you would just. You would justify. I love cake. Really? She got to have it. She got to have it. She got to have it. She got to have it. She got to have it. I don't know those dudes. I like, they're funny guys and their songs are kind of funny. Yeah. But I like going with the distance. I saw them with any folds. Yeah, they're fun. I like the, I get their novelty in a sense. I do like this song. Yeah, they're kind of. I do like this song. They're fun. Then they have a sense of humor. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Do I see any other ones? I love this song. It's on rules. By the way, boss.

You got some ammo for it and some paid entertainment for next Christmas. Give your dad a little homework and tell him you want the theme to Superman. Oh, sure. On the trumpet. On Christmas Day. Superman is a cake. No, no, no, no. The actual thing is someone from Superman. That's one of the best trumpet pieces at the time. Yeah, my dad's never going to do that. But if you find going the distance, maybe, I'll tell you what, we should mash up my dad tuning up his horn with cake. That's right. Or we should do it with La Crecia McEvil. Oh. There'll be a ST. Try putting it over. Come on. Blood sweat and tears. Let's see if Jim Carola joined Blood Sweat and Tears. You're going to have to find his thing. Let's go take a little work. Blood sweat tears and yawns. I'm, I'm now focused on this.

All right, I'll tell you what. Oh, there it is. Now we got to do is lay his stuff over it. Well, let's also have his workers mash up. No, I'm saying give him till tomorrow. All right. Good job. Good job. I love this song anyway. The ST made a lot of appearances in Bishop House over there with Jim. With schoolhouse rock, really, at the Blood Sweat and Tears, or the other way around. Everyone was into this sound back then. This has to be schoolhouse rock vibe. Mm-hmm. Let's go. All right. All right. Well, take a quick break. We'll come back with the news and we'll see if Dawson might be able to lay some of my dad's trumpet fumbling over their trumpet. Right after this. The Adam Carola show salutes the winners of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We're talking to you, Andrew Gill on the Florida. Just days ago, you were found and nebriated on the bathroom floor of a hotel room with a truckload of meth and a gay escort. Congratulations, Andrew Gillum. While we're all losers, you are the winner of COVID-19. Former Callahassee mayor, I think you probably need to add in there. And lost by less than half of 1% of the gubernatorial race for Florida 2018. Do you guys hear that story? The reason story about him losing the gubernatorial race. Yes, I heard the reason story about him in the hotel room or whatever. Oh, he did. Did you, Gina? No. All right. Well, we split the room, but we got one winner. The point is, I think we know that story. If it was true. You know that story. It's the news person. If the virus wasn't on it. There's nothing in the news except virus talk. Yeah. This is the best time in the world for these people.

How do you know that story? I saw it on Twitter. Supposedly, the method blunt to someone else. And he was only drunk, but I did. Well, it a good scene. It didn't make the front page of CNN, Fox, anything. Google news. If it did, it was a very short window. It'll all, he'll, he'll skate right past this thing. Wow, I like it. This guy was a big democratic, you know, you know, next face of the party. Yeah, but well, no, I will be all right. He'll be fine. This timing is the winner. But Max, you got to put, I think I think you got to put the title in there. Yeah. The congressman or actor, whatever. All right, here we go. Sorry, Gina. Let's let's do it. Let's queue up the news. Give me the news with grad. News with Gina grad. Breaking viral. All those crazy truck tweets. Give me news with Gina grad. Trouble in the Middle East. Celebrity drunk. Bell down. Seek news with Gina Gina. Bell down. The news with Gina grad.

Dawson, when you feel like you got some, the Creasian McGeeville work down with my dad, you can tell us. It's almost ready. He's cracked up a ton right now. It's got, I'm already hearing it, my head. It's got to be funny. It's really, there's no work to be done. It really just does itself. The Creasian McGeeville. Look at what you're getting. Hard, lovable, I'm gonna be your playing the play. I'm trying to shake their home, I get something to tell. It's just a matter of time. I'm not gonna be your playing the play. I'm trying to shake their home, I get something to tell. See if you can lay it over when the horns kick in. Sure. I like it being a featured player. There's a solo in the middle. This I just laid the session together. That's what it laid out.

He's playing the song. Yeah, see if you can hit it with the solo in the center or laid over the horn, the horn riff. Go ahead Gina, sorry. So you know how you've been asking for names. You want names. You want names we know. You're getting sick. Yeah. We got Tom Hanks, we got Rita Wilson and now. Now I'm worried. Now I'm in a full panic. Now I got to take the rest of the day off. Please do not. Oh, Dali. Oh, I would be. I'm here. You can be home. You should be halfway to fucking Dali. That's right. This is almost as bad as chocolate. Idris Elba. Really? Yes, sir. I don't think he's going to have a hearing test. So he got tested and revealed Monday that he's positive for COVID-19 he says he didn't have any symptoms, but he got tested because he realized he was exposed to someone who tested positive. He found out Friday that they were positive. So he quarantined himself got tested immediately. Honestly once jumping here. Now what you have with Hanks is a hoarder.

Getting it right. And post the looter. You see what I'm saying? Look, now we have representation from both parties. Right. The whole spectrum. spectrum. It's all right. Go ahead. And you know, there were rumors going around that black people couldn't get this virus. So please don't listen to fake news. That's not the new face of black coronavirus. The actor also urged his followers to really think about social distancing. Wash your hands. He says, beyond that, there are people out there who aren't showing symptoms. They can easily spread it. So now's the time to be really vigilant. Bo, bo, bo, bo. So he joins that growing list. There's a. No symptoms. He just got tested. Yes. And is he in the U.A. Where is he? Well, he he's from England. He may be working here. Everyone's everywhere now. Oh sure. Sure. It's like Australia and stuff like that. Those kind of actors everywhere. There's a Ukraine born actress named Olga Kurlyenko. Does that mean anything to you? Oh, she is positive as well. Universal music chairman and CEO Lucien Grange hospitalized for treatment.

We heard about Canadian. It's probably older. I think so. You know, for me, I want to. What about Sophie Trudeau? Sophie Trudeau? Oh, the white. Yeah. Oh, just true. Justin Trudeau is my. Well, so what I'm what I'm looking for is. Eat your cell. And other strong healthy people. What? What it does to them? Not whether they can get it. How they fare. Right. And it seems like unless there's some underlying illness, they skate pretty much except they cough on somebody. Well, I don't know. I don't know. Do we know the only people skate the only flaw with that is that the address Elbas and the Sophie Trudeau's of the world in the time I get the world. They have access to care that the 99.9% of us will never have access. They will be hanging out in an emergency room for two days. But I'm trying to think like if it's flu like in it, if it presents as Dr. Drew would say. And as a flu. And every flu I've ever gotten,

I've never gone to hospital to sort of ride it out. It's just passed. There's a night of a lot of fluids and stay hydrated. And you know, so here's an interesting thing. You know, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are being quarantined. But we don't have a vaccination for it. So and some people that are elderly need to be in breathing things and whatever ventilator, sorry. But if you are Tom Hanks, what are you getting that we couldn't get? You know, if they're saying, hey, no vigorous activity. It's be sedentary. Drink lots of electrolytes, eat a banana, relax, you know, no drinking, no smoking or whatever it is. We could all do that. Like we've all done with the flu. So the question is is save the old people, the ventilators and no thing. I don't know. I'm going to have to ask Drew, what would they, what could the hospital provide? I know they could provide something. But if you didn't, you didn't sound like Tom Hanks needs what they have. But I don't know. From reports,

I've read and done on on KFI. It says that they really can just provide symptom relief. Because of the symptoms, you know, like like having a car under a car. Exactly. Right. So maybe the richest man in the world couldn't get that much more from the hospital in terms of curing this or whatever, other than making you comfortable while you wrote it out. I mean, guess same way when you get a flu, you get an IV versus sucking it up at home. I guess. I told the story before, but Drew himself would tell you that the hospitals are not all created equal. There are better hospitals and worse hospitals. I know this from his own lips because when I was a phone screener at Loveline, I had to have my gall bladder removed. I don't remember that or not. But my gall bladder removed. I'm 22 or 24 wherever I was. And I'm like, Drew, I got to have the gall bladder removed. He's like, okay, well, where are you having the surgery done? I'm like, Daniel Freeman hospital down an angle would like, huh, good luck. That's what he said to me. I was nervous about going into surgery. He has no bedside manner. Hospital is in a hospital. There

are grades and levels. Sure. Sure. I'm just I'm still wanting to know, is Tom Hanks getting some treatment that is above and beyond what we could receive or even what we would do if we just stayed home and Mama made chicken soup and you kind of wrote it, wrote it out. It is interesting because I've Googled Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson several times in the past what four or five days. And it's in a way it feels shrouded in mystery. All we get are updates from chat or we get a picture from Tom being like, you know, fair and well taken a day by day. So we don't really know what's going on there. And after seeing chat doing a lot of his postings with a shirt off, I keep thinking to myself, why is everyone's kids fucked up? And who could be better? Who could be better than? What are you talking about? No, but me and all of that aren't good parents. Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks are. Wow. This is America. How do they end up

with this? You know what I mean? Is that is it now? Yeah, I used to think nature, nurture. I'm now thinking society. I'm okay. So along those lines, I'm wondering, this is just a half-back theory with the Spielberg daughters of the world and the Chet Hayes of the world. And is this a generation of rich kids raised by help? Like Tom Hanks all over the fucking world, he probably, probably overseas eight months a year. You know, that island for seven years. Exactly. Yeah, I'm sure in the tattoos are the rich version of cutting on yourself. Like it's, there's a little pain involved with it. But then again, Colin Hanks is like the most normal, just a person I asked. I'm just going to use them if anyone accuses me of ruining one kid or the other kid or whatever and just go, look, hang on, let's get it. It's all scattered to the wind. Dawson, you have a mashup ready with the LaCretia? Yeah, and this one we're really orienting your dad into the horn, so I don't get enough. That's really feeling and laying down. That was my initial impulse.

I'm going to be your claim to fame. Can't shake their own, break them, chop them through town. Each and every country, mother, son, hanging around. Drive a young man in sleep. That's a thing you're doing fine. Maxie Deliver. That's your sixth, double wire woman. That's the Deliver. I hear your mother wholesome top of the sticks. Now you try to make him out, know who's trying to make him out, so You'll be trapping What you don't do Now we gotta go through all the cake We're we gotta go through all these songs. I really got the tower power. Oh my god. I love this song Till shaking home breaking I mean, it's all you need to know. It's so good. I got to go down gambling. Oh, oh I heard your mother was talking to sticks Nothing that your daddy wouldn't do for kicks. I mean these are the songs. I think I think Jim Corolla would really groove on something like God bless the child

Yeah, I think they're not yeah, well, we'll get in the whole catalog, but I'm sorry. Go ahead, Gina. We want to keep you healthy. So we're you know adjusting the seating chart So that's I think that was the last ditch effort. I saw one of the last movies Last chopper out. Yeah, really was let's see grocery stores drug stores banks open for the time being

Travel ban has been expanded to the UK and Ireland when Trump made the announcement the UK wasn't involved United airlines as it's cutting flights by 50% reducing payroll Corporate offices agree to take a 50% salary cut and Australian TV host Richard Wilkins has tested positive Not Wilkes. Well, it's funny the reason I mentioned him He interviewed Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson a few days earlier and now he's Um, and as we know a third staffer on the today's show tested positive so Al roger and Craig Melzen Stay in home Al roger's always in a place of sort of diminished immune something. He's feel like the Never 100% is now All right, let's do one more. All right. Well, let's do this one talking about hoarding and gouging and some people eventually end up getting their come up ends Matt Colvin and his brother Noah hoarded nearly 18 Thousand bottles of hand sanitizer Two weeks ago they cleared the shelves at Walmart staples home depot in all of Tennessee and Kentucky

The brothers then resold the one dollar bottles for as much as 70 dollars each So on Sunday Colvin's merchant account on ebay and amazon were deactivated due to this profiteering in a pandemic Unable to move the product on those platforms the Colvin brothers really had no choice But to donate the hand sanitizer to churches and first responders. They recruited a team. Can I get a receipt for this? That's right. Yeah, Bob the purel They recruited a team of men to unload you haul trucks and boxes and boxes and boxes from three storage units The Tennessee Attorney General launched an investigation into this price gouging and a spokesman from the office said Donating the sanitizer does not mean they are off the hook legally If evidence establishes they engaged in price gouging we will seek appropriate penalties And as for how apologetic this met Colvin is this was his response Would you say you're sorry Sorry for purchase if sorry for buying all of this You

There's like The news media press conferences work right multiple players use those microphones hold on I could please mr. Kind of sending normally they step up onto something and there's like mics and they they step up onto something And he was like sitting down in a room where there wasn't really anything in the room

Yeah, we have we have the video we'll put it up at least half the teams have their players sit down and coaches At least also majority. Oh, that's not the shot. I saw I only saw the I saw I only saw it from here on Like I saw a wide shot where looked weird to me. Okay, okay, well, yeah, silly move on his part, but but he wasn't sick He obviously was he was sick, but he might not know yet. Yes, but I'm saying is this he we're trying to figure out how much He should be raked over the colds and what I'm saying is is he was goofing around because he didn't know he was sick and now Everyone is like he's horrible, but it's like he's goofing around you do maliciously, but he's a dipshit for doing it Right, but I don't see I have a much different view of things like when people Know what they're doing and volitionally do stuff. I hate them when people are goofing off I don't have that same feeling about it and we can't we can't look at it specifically through today's eyes where all businesses are being shut down and people are starting to get Correntined but this was only a few days ago and people were concerned. There was a washer hands don't touch your face

It was dumb. It was dumb, but he's making up for it. He right, but it's funny that you thought he did it when he was sick Well, he was sick you're saying after he was diagnosed that's what I'm not understanding No, he wasn't diagnosed But that doesn't mean he wasn't sick. I don't think he was sick. What's he? Well, I think what I'm saying is when you're sick, you're showing symptoms and you guys are saying he wasn't like Right is that what you he was infected with the virus when he did that. That's what we're saying I'm aware of that. Why aren't you understanding what I'm saying? You're saying he didn't do it to say I'm gonna screw everybody up because I know I'm sick and I want to Get it right right. I think we're all I think we all I know I'm saying you guys should be able to process this better I said he's not malicious. He's addiction. No, I know, but I said you didn't you thought he's sick and you're like he was sick and I'm like Yeah, but I think to be clear to be clear you're saying he didn't know he was sick. Yeah, I'm saying that you but you said

He wasn't sick and we were saying yes, he was sick. Well, I mean he wasn't percent All right, now we got to get in a polar did he know he had the flu did he think he had any symptoms Probably saying then I'm sorry What I'm saying is he didn't know he was sick right I understand we're all mad at him because he was sick right But he didn't I'm saying we don't need to Tarn feather him because he was goofing around him at a stupid jet. I understand that but that's what I'm saying that that's why I said I know even in just a span of a few days where all Most of us are taking this way more seriously business. Those are shunning guys But even a few days ago people were still like careful with breathing and I'm not I'm not into the Defense of the 25 year old guy goofing around per se but I'm sort of like I got bigger fish to fry in terms of people I hate in our society because he just got he's his eyes are guys. He was this horrible timing guy He was like horrible long place wrong timing. Yes, because we've all I walked into a classroom once

Everybody was like looked kind of bummed out my senior year of high school and I just walked in and I was like Looking down I went who died and they were like Leonard E. Schoo and Robert Kacerra. It's your ass The two 18 girls are on the team and I like went oh Now I was I was the goat because I said that but it was a joke and most of the time you Get away from not gonna be sort of like you guys don't die from your high school, you know, but anyway Well the reason I bought it up is because he and Kevin Love from the Cavaliers are giving major money to help You know like we talked about Mark Cuban to help the arena workers, right? So Rudy Goldberg is giving I Some insane amount. I want to say 500,000 Half a million dollars out of it sounds like his own pocket Kevin Love 100,000 and I think we're gonna see more these donations rolling in yeah, it's good. I also wonder So it's my nefarious part of my brain who likes it always cuz this guy's so much where they need tack They need to give it all a lot of foundation. They'll have you know cherries. Yeah, but still win win good for us

Yeah, so they made a one minute video Yes, this is a big B.A. But he lit the camera the end I'm out of line We have to get it all said all you do that. Sorry. Here he is Hey, what's up everyone? Good to speak to you Kevin Bacon Nice to speak to you man I've always been a fan of yours and I don't I don't feel like I know you very well But I feel like I know your work very well, but I also feel like you're out there in approach Have we ever ever ever crossed paths before? I don't know I I kind of feel the same way about you you know after you know certainly from The man Joe and then the and from Howard Stern, you know, but it's like I don't know if we've ever actually crossed paths Have we ever been in the same thing I hate to play six degrees, but My my greatest fear is that I say to somebody especially celebrity God I don't think I've ever met you and then the person goes I was on love line three times and I go oh shit But I really think that way with you Kevin Bacon I don't think we've been in the same thing. I don't know if we shake in hands I think this is it. I think I think you've popped my Kevin Bacon cherry

Well, you know and and and since we're well since we're never gonna get a chance to shake hands ever again That's that's never gonna happen But you know, I it's funny you say that because I have this thing where I Don't if I'm shooting on a television show, you know, I'm on a series now I don't I don't like to come into the makeup trailer and Sit down with an actor That I've worked with before and say it's very nice to meet you. So I If I go down the call sheet on my way to work and look at the people's IMDB pages and check and see if we have Interfaced in the past right out with with me forgetting because this you know, it's a lot of people I've been out out of this a long long time that you know, I can't remember and then and then I'll say hey Yeah, remember we did that thing and then I'm up to what

Let's talk about city on a hill by the way is what we're talking about on showtime what Let's talk about when you got started now I know I remember seeing you in quick silver and probably 1987 but I don't know that you've worked since so now I'm just making a joke When when did you get started what was your age? What was your first deal? You know what my very first movie was animal hospital either not I was 19 years old I was a I had moved to New York when I was 17 and I was in acting school and They actually sent a casting director to To the school and said this is a type of kid we're looking for and And the school sent me over I didn't have an agent or a manager ain't that shit. I mean, I was just you know just a kid and

And that was my first thing You know, I guess You know I technically the first time I ever got paid to act I was still living in Philly and There somebody got in touch with me knew that I wanted to be an actor and they said there was this Park in a at ROTC recruiting film and And it was gonna pay you know a couple hundred bucks or something like that and I remember that my mom was a was a avid anti-war activist and I took the gig and she didn't speak to me for Michael and you know, it was one of those kind of seminal moments in a in a relationship to make you know a son and his mother, you know where you know Robert Blies to talk about stealing the key from Monday here in the mythology of stealing the key from Monday to your mother's bed That was that was when I stole the key and you know went out and you know

Made my first paycheck, but my first real job was an old house You grew up in in Philly my families from my dad's family from South Philly So I spent some time. I didn't know that yeah, I went One of the only times I really felt sorry for my dad is a few years ago. I was out there playing a show outside of Philly and I said let's go check out my dad's old old neighborhood and the old house I used to go to when this grandma lived there and everything and it was right in the middle of South Philly and I saw that house He grew up in and I was like oh boy. I feel bad for this guy It's Philly's got some some good parts and it's got some some bad parts, but what was it like for you growing up in Philly? well I I think it was very very important to What it is that I do for a living it was it was like you said good and bad

I mean it was rough, you know I used to get beat up and robbed all the time and and I grew up right in the center city. I was to public school and and So there was those kind of challenges on the other hand like in terms of what I'm asked to do is portray a lot of different kinds of people and I think that I have that I had that kind of experience in Philly where like the people that I was coming in contact and interacting with on a regular basis both in school and in my neighborhood and you know in the You know, and other like community centers and stuff like that We're really with a pretty wide variety and so I think it was really really helpful for me when it came time to start to Put on different hats and walk and different kind of shoes I will say that My my mother was a New Yorker my father was was was a Philadelphia and

And I think that my mother in her own way was kind of whispering in my ear like this is a great place and you're doing that and I made our life here But you got to get out of shoes so The second I graduated high school actually was able to get out of high school early and I was working in this warehouse packing and shipping medical books and and I I knew that I had to get to New York as soon as I could so I left home when I was 17 and You know started pursuing this this this acting thing You you knew it I'm envious of people who know what they want to do at a really early age I really look at it as a blessing Sometimes it doesn't work out but like when you hear about comedians who knew they wanted to be comedians And they were doing stand up when they were 15. I'm like what a blessing Because the saddest I ever feel for someone is when I find some 23 year old and I go what do you want to do?

And they go I don't know like I feel horrible for that person and even if it again Even if the dream doesn't come to fruition. I still think it's a blessing to know what you want Early did you feel you knew what you wanted when you were 15? 100% And where's that coming from? I mean honestly before I even knew what an actor was I think as a tiny little kid I knew that I wanted people to look at me and I knew that on some level I wanted to entertain them You know if I would walk into a room. I mean literally as a I gave I don't know I don't know when memory starts But that's when it started I I 100% felt felt that and When it was yeah, what do we do important for me? What do we attribute that to you have You have you're the youngest of six children Um, I know bacon brothers. I know you guys perform. I know there's other siblings that perform but

Well, how did that how did that manifest itself or why you you know, I mean like is that nature is it nurtured? Did somebody push you into it or is it just there? That's a really good question um, I think I think Well, what I don't think I don't know about nature, but the one but the one thing I don't believe is that um, this idea of God given talent, you know what I mean because I feel like What but what that statement does is it it um, mission packs Anybody and you know this for yourself That wants to get good at someone needs to work their fucking ass off at it like you do you just don't You just don't pop out of the uh out of the womb, you know Playing like any band-hailing you know, I mean it's just not that you get that that that's just is like crazy. So uh, maybe there's a part of me that naturally

um, you know somehow genetically Was predisposed to it, but I think it was really about like you said being the youngest of sex wanting to kind of um stand out and in that group and also wanting to make my older brothers and sisters laugh and do whatever I also think that my parents were very very uh supportive of anything creative they were much more supportive of that than they were of good grades or or being You know an athlete or or or going to college or any of the normal things that people really want to They never said to me, you know, you need to have something fall back on They were like they just before they knew I was going to be an actor You know, it was like you know draw something build something fix something yourself Use your hand use your imagination create create create create this is this is what what they somehow just pounded to Say both of them, you know, really pounded to the table one and

So there was that the other thing is that Which is another big piece of being successful as An actor as a frontman certainly in a in a in a in a rock band or our musician or a or a comedian or whatever is that I had a really strong desire from a pretty young age to be famous and And you know, I often say that there's two kinds of actors actors that want to be famous and liars because you don't go into this Line of work or this life To not have people look at you, you know and the more people that are looking at you um The more it's an acknowledgement that you're you're doing a good job right and so I think that I think that my father Um was until it off you a pretty famous guy um not wealthy

What famous and I think that you know, I I kind of I I dug it I saw it I dug it and I wanted to beat him at it, you know, I kind of wanted to um You know, I wanted to beat him at at the same thing Your your your your follow was a politician correct A politician Or he's yeah, he was a um he was a he was a city planner Uh That's we were in the he was ahead of the city planning commission. It's all it off me and uh, you know, he wasn't I mean, that's some political kind of pieces of it, but it was a you know, he was a city employee and um Uh was like really devoted to the idea that Cities needed to remain vibrant and that people needed to

You know move into the cities and not run to the suburbs because we were talking about a you know a period in time when he You know You know probably 40s and 50s and 60s where there was a lot of white polite and you know That was the cities were not the place you wanted to be you know Everyone was making Charles Bronson movies and trying to run to the to the sub-war and and uh he was sort of Uh pretty instrumental and in trying to get people to Focus back on till it off you and come back into town and be downtown So he got well known really well not certainly in till it off. He was very well known Well, it was on i'm reading here was on the cover of time magazine and november 1964 Yeah, well, that's pretty famous for a city planner Um, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm seeing my half on the cover of time magazine So I listen first off uh, I like your candor because Everyone always talks about the craft of acting and being attracted to the process and some and you're saying I wanted to be famous my dad was a big shot. I wanted to be a bigger shot

um I definitely appreciate that and and again, I I don't really think there's anything wrong with it. I I feel like When people go, you know, that guy he just built that hospital so he could put his name on it I go, okay, well, there's a hospital And people can use it so oh, maybe we need more guys that want to put their name on a hospital But I'm not going to tear that guy That that guy new asshole for wanting to build a new Or wanting to be famous and pay taxes and make people laugh or make people think or make people cry And but the other thing is that once you you know when I before I think to You know how hard this life would be I thought to myself, well, I want to be famous So I'm either going to be able to do it you know from the from the world that I was looking at I knew that I wasn't ever going to be a great athlete and and I could already tell that and so I thought well I'll be in I'll be a

Rockstar or actor it was like I'm exactly the same age as Donnie Osmond and Michael Michael Jackson And I'm looking at these you know these guys and Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy and Jack while I was like I'm going to go and see if I can get that and then what happened was in pursuit of that aim Then I started My mother could sort of see that that's what I was into and so she kind of she didn't want me to be a musician because My brother was a musician and she was kind of like don't we don't really need another one in the family That's that that's that's not a that's not a good idea or maybe she also thought it didn't have any talent for it And I also wouldn't practice you know my brother was really really like he practice really hard right and So I she said one he could take an acting class and I said okay And almost right away I realized that this was a craft

Now my desire to be to be famous and to pursue this all having to do with you know Money and girls and you know all the stuff that comes with it didn't go But I've realized pretty quickly that in order to Get good at this. I was gonna have to really work at it and I think that's a little different Then some attitudes that exist today because we have a whole bunch of people There's a kind of just famous for being famous, you know, there's a there's a new kind of Option in terms of career now, which is just Fame sort of for fames sake enough, right and so that's That's a little different than having a skill and and really trying to hone the hone the art in the craft I mean I I Definitely believe that there is a craft acting up. There is a craft to

You know all these things and that if you have to you have to work at them Well, you went to New York when you were 17 which is young it wasn't really young by Old older standards, you know people would sign up and go to war at 17 You know now Guys that are 17 are like they're nine. I mean if you ever talked any 17 year old dudes They're not the world war two generation of 17 year old. Oh And I've been not it's really amazing to me, you know, and you know what else about about that is I didn't like I didn't think of it as being young I honestly didn't It was no point of me to went. Oh, I'm just a I'm just a kid. I never thought that way Never well, and also people didn't really treat 17 year old boys like kids like your your deal was Learned to drive a stick get a job and start taking care of business. You're man now like you know you can

Impregnate a woman get out there and get to work like I I don't feel like people treated us Like we treat 17 year olds now or 26 year old dudes as sort of kids They're infant infantilized, but so you just went to New York really not knowing any better and society Didn't tell you any better because we didn't do that back then right now Nobody said you're out of your mind my parents never said I slept on my sister's couch. She had a she was living on West End Avenue um No, it wasn't a It wasn't it wasn't a concern. I mean I was I you know the drinking agent New York was 18 so by That summer that that summer I'm 17 is that that summer I turned 18 and you know got a job in a bar like right away and and that was just that was just a deal what was the early schedule like for you like your first years in New York

um schedule yeah like I'm just curious I'm picturing a 18 year old Kevin Bacon living in a completely different New York than we know it today Getting up doing what obviously you're working at a bar at night acting during the day. I mean training during the day I had a um, I joined a two-year program at a school called Circle of the Square um and I made it through the first year and then a little bit into the second year but um Yeah, I was I started as a bus boy At a place called Fiorrello's Roman Cafe, which was on um six certain Broadway. I lived in a uh in a um kind of like It's so hard for people to imagine that the Upper West Side was like a funky neighborhood But it was really pretty rough in uh in the 70s and I lived that 86th and Broadway in this in this they called it an artist residence

but um It was really more of like a single room occupancy, you know an FRO that we should call uh and The ad in the paper in the village voice you look at the back of the village voice in it and it said the our actors dancers musicians You know they could come to this artist residency So I went into the rental office and I remember that um, I had budgeted 150 a month for uh My apartment And not you know some whack-a-doo like Number that I just kind of came up with in my head that it would be 150. I didn't really know but um So they said well, we don't have any of one well what they would call a studio, you know, which was just one room They said but we actually have a two bedroom for three and a quarter uh and uh I said well, I don't have a roommate

And they said well, what about this guy? And there was a guy sitting on the couch next to me in the rental office We looked each other one you want to and they said yeah sure I never met the guy knowing about this guy at all So they showed us this place that To say it was a two bedroom to say it was a one bedroom was really a stretch It was two rooms. I slept in the kitchen um And uh he slept in the bedroom and to get to his room He had to walk through uh my room and for me to get to the bathroom I walked to his room Uh It was in the in the back, you know on the air shaft um And I live with the guy for like four years in this you know, missette kind of a roach infested flat house um On 85th and Broadway. Yeah, I would go yeah, I go to school and I work at night now in the restaurants And I don't think people I think people are depriving

Their kids of that experience of making do of like kind of How resilient you can be and how pliable you know like when you're 19 when you're 19 year old dude you're practically indestructible like you can sleep on the floor You can eat pop tarts 24-7 you never get sick you never get fat, you know I mean like you can kind of do you can really rough it and I don't think I think we're denying a lot of young guys That experience of like knowing you can survive like knowing Like like how the guy who's the outdoorsman knows he can survive because he knows how to protect himself from the elements And he can hunt and he can fish and that sort of confidence that comes with that You know you had a and I had the same thing too a kind of urban version of that like a city I guess a city version of survivor, you know

You knew how to get around you knew who not to piss off you knew how to talk to cops or talk to criminals or how to get on with crazy roommates and That kind of thing right like and then and then you build this base And then once you have that base you're not really you become sort of Unflappable at that point right because you know what it's like to sleep on the floor 100% I think and I think you make a really good point is that It's it's the urban version of wilderness kind of survival and Uh, and I know that you know some people Get into a lot of people in urban situations get into this head where You know kids that are raised in in cities where it where you know, it's certainly wealthy people They say well, well, we're gonna send our kid to You know to see how it is to survive with just a piece of string of that for a week and and you know

I don't know I sort of feel like There's also a nut there's also an urban kind of version of that and Yeah, I was I was definitely unflappable. I mean you know robbed at gunpoint and And and in plenty of you know dangerous situations and and yet like like I said, you know when I survived and you know figured it figured it out um There's so much you get out of just moving forward in life and I think a lot of the problems that people have and I don't know Maybe it's YouTube. Maybe it's a computer. Maybe it's the new age we're living in They want results like everyone wants results now and I remember just sort of leaving the house and walking forward I never really thought about results per se I was like my thing is I want to be better Tomorrow than I am today at different things, but I didn't really have a what's the bottom line

Maybe there's Maybe there's too much of that. Maybe people get discouraged too quickly when they don't see results Fast enough, but I don't know what your mindset was you wanted to be famous you want to New York at 17 But were you like I need to be in a major movie by the age of 20 or were you just going there to learn your craft and and see see where it took you I think it was constantly and I believe I believe this to this very day I do jockey the same thing And it's almost like there's two levels of Of consciousness around Going for what is that you want one is the more I'd like to say private and Daydreamy kind of part of it which is you can you know picture yourself accepting your Oscar You think about seeing your name and lights you you know

You you you you know even stupid shit like you know you want to whatever driver rolls or whatever happens to be you know You know have data supermodel you know whatever these things are that that you have is these kind of secret I think it's I think it's good sometimes to kind of keep them secret because They they can kind of fuel you but on the day to day I never thought about that stuff on a day to day. I would be like What can I do today? Can I can I try to get an extra you know part as an extra Can I now that I'm now that I got now I'm starting you know work as an extra Can is there an opportunity for me forget to get one line or used to call an under five Oh, I got under five is there in chance I could get a you know low level agent, you know Right and and then just like make these make these steps right these just kind of Baby steps and I still operate in that way. I still think uh, okay. Well

You know city on the hill and then you know what can I do anything after that? Is it you know what what you know What am I what am I doing what's my work kind of baby kind of baby? You know this week or this month or this you know But They I think they almost feel like they both have to kind of You know have to but I think it's important that They they they co they co exist so you you hold on to your your big Dreams and your big ideas, but you have to give yourself the the Status fake faction of having some little victories or some little losses long way. What do you um? What are you in to um and and then and sort of how do you keep That fire going now that you're very comfortable or you've been comfortable for a long period of time You know, how do you have a little that eye the tiger? I don't want to say a bunch of rocky philadelphia cliches, but you know

I have devil You have to have a little feeling like someone's chasing you a little bit like there's got to be a little edge a little fear to get you up To use this motivation or or is that how you're wired what how do you keep the fire burning? I don't find any problem keeping it burning. It's always there at probably to I don't know I don't know. I'm not gonna say to it to a negative extent, but I don't I have my pedal I have my pedal so firmly on the metal like all the time I'm always looking down the road I'm really not interested in looking back the one time that I look back is when I When I do this when I talk to somebody they want to know about have things you know started But other than that It's it's really like the past is Is the past and I'm I'm hoping that you know my best work is in front of me. I'm hoping that there's more to uh, you know to accomplish you

creatively and um and I Maybe someday I'll be able to go okay, uh, you know, but I'm not somebody I don't want to brick build bird houses I I I don't want I'm not looking for that Mollit's ahead so that I can just head out on the golf course, you know for for you know every day I don't want to both you know what I mean. I'm I want to work You know, I just I'm like that's that's what that's what gives me Uh, satisfaction and a lot of other things you can be satisfaction too But I still really love the time between action and cut. I still love um The excitement of reading a part and saying oh, I could just be reading cool with this and then that process and working with the directors You know everything the hair and the makeup the costumes and being upset mean all these things like I I I love it and so I think that

What what I what I want to what I want to work towards and people sometimes have a hard time believing this because You know, I've been working for so long, but I'm working so that those opportunities don't go away and they don't dry up She caused every time I finish a gig. I still feel like that was the last job that I'll ever do. Yeah, it still feels like um You know, it's it's over You know, the dream is over Johnny. You know what I mean? Well, yeah, I have that I have I've had work and I've been had no work and and You know the no work times have had a lot of resonance for me and and so I'm still still hungry at the stage I still feel hungry Well, you know, it's it's funny. I was just sort of thinking about it because I feel much the same way like I feel like show business Is kind of and you tell me if you feel this way, but you feel like a fit

Senior but if you slip in the bathtub and break your hip and you're down For four months you could get old really fast and it could be real hard real fast like you die real fast like there's a lot of Folks there like that guy super fit for 81 look at him and then he broke his hip and it's like pow Like just expired gone and I always just kind of feel like you go down for six months or a year You may not come back or at least you would come back But I feel like maybe I don't come back. Maybe there's nothing to come back to maybe no one wants you back Yeah, I mean, I certainly think that that's true and it it kind of flies in the face of Some logic because you know if you if you've been talented before I don't think it's really just gonna go away I mean, you know, maybe I guess maybe you could make the argument that sometimes You know

Whatever rock stars do their best work when they're younger. I don't know, but maybe actors too, but I don't know I I do I still feel I still feel like I want to I don't want to go away for For too long and And then if I do go away for too long and it's gonna you know, it evaporates. Yeah, I know I I completely Feel that way You know on the other hand, I also feel like One thing it's kind of fun about Being an actor is that you can You can get older and then that parts and the types of parts that come to you So the shift and change and become sometimes more interesting you know because you're dealing with a man You know, who's a different point in this life and and and Sometimes those opportunities can be great, but I remember after Footless came out someone saying to me. So listen, you're gonna get you're only gonna get three bombs and

then it's Then you're gonna you're gonna have to you know go to dental school or something like that and and you know I mean, I'm Like you know, whatever probably about 30 bombs and so far and uh, so I I feel like It you know longevity is There's no secret to longevity is there is no secret longevity is the secret If you just kind of hang in there long enough, you know, I think people just Start to go well. Then usually he's not going away. So we might be in my part Well, the thing about the bombs is if you put them back to back to back Yeah, it's tough, but if you spread them out and you slide in you know in a polythirteen or if you could man in between bombs Then you can kind of hang out, you know, I've always sort of thought of this career It's like a restaurant like you have your favorite Local restaurant and you've done that thing where you go in and you eat there and you're with your wife and you're like driving home

And you go Not as good as it normally is something's a little off. I wonder if they have new management There's a little bit slow on the service or something right, but it doesn't prevent you from going back You'll still go back But if you go back and it happens again You got one more time and you'll never go in there again Now if you go back and you have the best meal of your life You can then go back and have another bad meal and you can alternate you just can't string them together I felt I felt that way about doing radio shows. I was like if people are listening and I have an off day I can have an off day and if I have an off day and I spread them out every five weeks That they'll stay but if I string three together they're gone and they're not coming back So I looked at my mouth as an Italian restaurant Do you Well, it's really it's really it's kind of that way. It's kind of that way with athletes You know what I mean like LeBron can go out there and have a bad outing and so can Tom Brady

But if they can't if Tom Brady puts together three games in a row The older Tom Brady not you know 26 year old Tom Brady But if Tom Brady puts three games in a row of throwing three picks and three games in a row He's gonna be on the bench like he might not be back one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time If he spreads that out over the entire season and put some good games in between them So I don't know I've always kind of thought about the order of Things and I know it sounds pretty also taric, but I think people should think about that look at dates You can have a bad date on your seven date, but you can't have your first date Be bad and you certainly can't have your second and third suck after your first one was good You know, it's kind of there's a sequence to it Are you I want to I want to know You and since everyone's talking about coronavirus and what how it's affecting them and I'm kind of curious Not about regimen like you know washing hands and

Hand sanitizer. I want to kind of get your take Kevin sort of a little more philosophically like where you at with it where would you like people to be at with it if you could kind of send a message What would that Message be? I'm gonna ask you to form that thought for a second. Let me just jump in and take care of a piece of business here All right, we'll take a real quick break. We'll come right back and Kevin Bacon will tell us his philosophy about the coronavirus right after this All right back with Kevin Bacon the new podcast well there's six in the last degree of Kevin Bacon It's a new episodes every Monday on Spotify and Matt Walsh is already also in this in Kira Sedwick Kevin's lovely bride is in this as well the website six degrees.org is where you go So thoughts on corona where where you with it

Well first off, this is a really self-serving segway. I would say that we're you know, we're practicing social distancing and we're You know coming up with To do right Is a good relief first of its money. It's like the unabashedly silly and If if you need a little bit of um comic relief in that way it's something you can do from home My wife the first time in her life that's me. I want to make do a puzzle. I I've she's never I've never imagined her as a as a puzzle doer right sure enough Um We found the puzzle and it's a it's a 500 piece puzzle. I'll be amazed if we do it, but it's sitting here waiting for something to do. I mean, I think that um It's important to um stay hopeful and positive which which um we're trying to do

But at the same time take the advice of the experts in the sciences very very seriously I mean, I think that if we can you know, I believe in this flatten the curve It just seems to make a lot of sense to me right the less less interaction That we have with other people for the time being the less chances there are of of um Containing the virus. I think the idea that some people go It's all overblown or uh or this is too much panic or whatever It's like if if if if if limiting our act or our our interaction Could help then why not? I know it's an inconvenience But Why not why not be i would rather come out of this going wow We we took this a little too seriously then come out of it going Nobody gave a shit and and nothing was done and and now it's a you know, I need more of a disaster than it could have been

um So I I look at it um Practically plus I really want something You know, I want to be able to The observe is in some kind of way of the way to be a services to not work You know, not go out you know, uh whatever Um, I'm extremely concerned for people who are less fortunate in me of which that's pretty much Most of the people in the world Let's face it. I am in a very very slim margin of of um of people We will You know ride this out as long as it you know as I can um, you know Stay healthy and but even if I get it, you know, I still feel like personally that you know, I'm healthy I said I could ride it out, but there's a whole bunch of people who I'm certainly more way more concerned about that then than myself Personally, uh physically health wise and financially and that how

You know, we deal with that in the long in the long term. I think it's gonna be uh an interesting question. Do you have a Workout routine or meditation or a sauna or cold dips or you know, what is your kind of health regimen? Um, I work out pretty much every day uh I I know I'm supposed to take a day off, but I don't know. I'm kind of addicted to it and um It's as much cross sort of training as possible, you know between You know bike here around there a You know weights on a you know, we run a couple days and you know to mean like yeah, but yeah, we're we're Into working out We really like to hike we're in LA right now, so that's possible um And uh, yeah, I do meditate I meditate Yeah, almost every day

um Here I actually meditated together yesterday, which is something we had never done before that was new that's a new coronavirus uh option, but you know actually we're doing the same meditation. I'm not I'm not the VM so I it's it's kind of Like my own goofy apps, you know that I've found and sort of hypnosis meditation things uh, I think I eat pretty well um and uh Yeah, if you that's yeah, well, you know, I I I do believe that There's always kind of a byproduct and sometimes Oftentimes a positive byproduct of situations like this, which is sort of like That's like when there's a big earthquake Then there's some new codes and some new technology and now buildings are safer, right? And uh when you look at some tragedy like the Kobe Bryant helicopter accident

It's a tragedy, but there's going to be a bunch of stuff like terrain sensors and stuff in new helicopters That are actually going to save lives as well. So sometimes some good things come from some tragedies and like You just taking the time to do a puzzle with your wife that you would never do or meditate together It's it's like a positive byproduct of this tragedy Of this tragedy wouldn't she say? I would say so for sure or sure. I think that um anything that makes us feel um gratitude What we have for our You know If we I don't know about you, but if we make this make it through this I'm gonna have a more For a whole lot of reasons including um

you know Family medical science um the ability of People to come together and and you know try to face and you know a crisis like this together. I mean listen Uh, yeah, I think there's often times these kinds of things Create a tremendous amount of um Just positive energy of it. It's a terrible way to experience it But if you if if we're living in a in a world where we're really all focused on You know Getting what we can and and on you know our kind of consumption nature and all of a sudden we We're cut force not to consume quite as much I think Yeah, it can it can give us a different perspective Nothing like a little Life and death situation to to have a wake up call well gratitude and You've the phone got a little choppy for a moment, but you're talking. Well, no, it's not you don't you're fault

But you're saying when we get out of this if we can get out of it with some gratitude and some perspective That'll be a good Byproduct of it. I'm paraphrasing what you're saying, but you know Then then here here's the kind of the rub. It's like how do you maintain A level of gratitude when there's nothing going on there's no viruses of any kind and You're just doing that thing where you're chopping wood like you're getting up you're hitting it hard You're working hard. So how do we have quiet and gratitude when you're kind of a hard charger? And how does Kevin bake and remind himself to have that sense of gratitude when he's also out there trying to sort of chew up the real estate I don't know the answer to that out of my I really wish I did Because and you know, I'd be a lot of writing

A self-help I think you know, I it's just Just think it's I think a lot. I think part of it comes from The fact my wife is a great kind of is reminds me of that um And I think they're probably you know the kind of parents that I have um also taught me A level of compassion for other people and They were not You know, even though my father was driven to be famous my father was not driven to Consume things and you know my mother didn't want it. She'd never want to throw anything away or waste any thing You know what I mean? They were like pretty Uh, I don't know what that generation because they were pretty old when they had me So it's almost it almost skips the generation. I have a sister is 18 years old. Oh, wow I think they were of a of a uh, you know, a bit depression kind of mentality um and uh

Yeah, I don't know how how I hold on to that but I try to I I feel like you get to a fork in the road At this point in life or somewhere in this you know kind of 60 you know And the fork in the road is um All one direction is gratitude and the other direction is bitterness and You know you you have to you have to choose which one you're going to walk down and uh So it may be easy for me to save From a lot of people's perspective because I have so much and I've done so well and I and I um You know And have this kind of to the outside what looks like kind of an ideal life Um, but at the same time I've felt those times in my life where I've I've I've felt myself falling in down the bitterness kind of uh past

Because I think we're always feeling like somebody else has it has it better than us You know no matter where you are at right in the in the in the spectrum of success um, and you know, I just have to remind myself to you know stop and breathe and look at my family and uh Look at nature and see see you know what's what what is Beautiful in this life and hang on to that You know, it's interesting as you brought up the you know the bitterness Path and then you go Someone's got it better than me um personally I don't I always know there's many people have it better than me and I never really think about that But I'm curious for you Is it someone has it better than me or is it I'm not respected enough for what I do or what I have done Because I will go down that path a little. I don't really do the better than me

I go like why they should respect me more for what I've done Yeah Yeah, it's that it's definitely that yeah You know and it's all it's all stuff that you know in your heart of heart is Bullshit ultimately you know things like you know reviews one person's opinion or um, you know trocheys or Paychecks or you know bunch of a bunch of shits and stuff That you can really uh, you just have to stop and um, um, I don't know well, I don't know how you get past it But you know start to get past you know, yeah, well what I think what helps is A focus on something physical. I find you taking a hike or in the garage building a kayak or something or swimming in the ocean or something like kind of physically

Stewing in your own juices and sort of watching tv kind of is a petri dish for this and kind of breeds it and when you're out sort of Being active, you know if you're riding a wave or race behind the wheel of a race car. You're not thinking about any of this ever So Kind of put yourself in those positions. I don't mean Drive a race car all day, but I mean it's like get out get moving get active take your dog for a walk Put your earbuds in Listen to uh Kevin's podcast the last degree of Kevin Bacon and mix in a little classical music in between episodes And you probably won't start sliding down this This bitter flume as I've now labeled it. Yeah, it's no you're right. You're right. I I feel that that I even even in New York. I mean we're kind of by coastal We will I will just go walk I'll just walk I'll walk

I'll let you know I walk 60 blocks, you know, right just to just that kind of um be not sitting in front of a computer for Looking at my device or or You know watching cable news. I mean you you you definitely it's that I completely agree with you about that You doing something physical if if you have if you have the ability to do something physical is definitely a good thing to do You know, it's interesting. I always would tell people You know go for walk go for hike, you know convene with nature But as I'm thinking about it and I'm picturing I've done the same thing I've I've walked all of Central Park, but I've also just walked 60 blocks in New York And even though you're in the heart of sort of the city There's so much going on like you'll pass the park the little park and the kids will be playing baseball And then you'll pass a bunch of weird shops, you know big gay ice cream and you'll look in there and look at the sign

And you'll pass some pet grooming place or some little pub and you seeing all these people in this crazy variety of life You know all the different types of businesses even alone and all the people that are walking in and out of them There's something strangely relaxing about that like just passing through this see if humanity with your earbuds in do you sort of picking up on that vibe 100% 100% and and Yeah, you know, it's and it's weird to me again the loud how doing that in the in a city and And doing that in nature they they almost have the exact same effect on me because I can look at To exactly what you're talking about in a city and Like just by experiencing What all these other people are doing right and these lives that you're getting a chance to witness It takes you out of your own life, you know, I mean it's sometimes it can just be the fact that

You know, you see somebody that is is you know more in need than you and in nature Has it has a similar kind of effect because you tend to go well that tree has been here a fuck of a lot longer than I have And it's gonna be all around way after I'm gone, you know Oh or that sky or you know, whatever And it's that's really really helpful to get out of your own Had I think I find them extremely extremely helpful Yeah, I think as I picture it because of some of my again my favorite thing to do is just to walk from one side of the island to the next I feel like When your nature you have that feeling of your small and and this is so much bigger than you and then when you go out and you do the City walk we're talking about You you're you're putting a perspective because you're like every single one of these people cares about their own life as much as I care about my life

All right, right right and they're all just doing business and struggling or laughing or crying or trying to run their business or wait in line or whatever it is and whatever problems I have they all experience it exactly How I do except for it's for them so is it bizarre to think that those people all should care about? When I don't care about them. It's the kind of spit in your own mouth theory I have which is your own spit in your own mouth is absolutely fine But if somebody else spit in your mouth it'd be the grossest thing in the world although their spit is fine for them and their mouth Well, maybe it's not a good corona metaphor No, I just don't quite know what it's a metaphor for I get the reality of the reality of it is really really amusing And that's 100% sure

I'm just not sure what's in it what's explained to me what it's a metaphor well It's it's sort of like Your spit is not dangerous and my spit is not dangerous theoretically and You are completely fine with a mouthful of your own spit all the time But if you had a mouthful of my spit you'd never stop throwing up Right but but but and it's and it at the metaphor sort of like everyone is in their own life and if and and can't really think about other people picturing them like Like we picture them and they picture us which is they don't care I mean you fight if you put Kevin Bacon spit in my mouth and you didn't tell me Then I'd be fine with it Somehow this weird awareness like all our spit is special, but it's really not it's just spit Just just have to be our spit. I probably didn't do a good job of explaining that but

Are you out you're you're an LA half the half the year Oh, yeah, it's kind of we it's not really we don't really it's not Orgas and that kind of way but yeah, we we have a place out here my kids are out here too So that's a good reason to hear you last well to last questions for you Your parents are we're older when they had you but I'm guessing they were around to see a lot of your success Uh-huh. Yeah, they were they were yeah, I always um Always think about that when they're gone. They've passed now, right? Yeah, yeah, they're gone now. Yeah, I always I always I don't know why it's a weird thing And when someone is really successful and sometimes that older parents are their parents pass I always hope that their parents saw Much of their success before they left no they did and they were absolutely thrilled and They were like crazy crazy. I mean I told that one story about my mother, you know, but

but As I said that they were Super super supportive even I'm just like the worst piece of shit that I would do, you know, just dreadful and They'd be like, you know, but you really showed something And they were of a letter writing generation, you know some horrible, you know like Friday to 13th or something was like I was in the first Friday to 13 like that would come out and let's look Like Besides me nothing very good in that, you know, the movie is exactly the opposite My parents like and you know, and then they'd write a letter Great job in Friday I love that I love that it's it's so often goes another direction with parents Yeah, they're never you know, it never seems to be because I've interviewed a million celebrities There's never a I what I was just a sort of healthy middle ground. There's either Complete lack of recognition whatsoever and dismissive or I'm gonna write you glowing letters

Even if the movie sucked there's not a lot of but real in the middle. I don't know I'm glad you're on the happy side of that equation Yes, thank you. Thank you. Hope you guys enjoy Good day David Wilde Happy Memorial Day sir same to you my brother and good day Alson Rosen. Hello Adam Kola and bald brain All right who uh who's top drop Freddie Roger Francis Rodriguez Lots to talk about lots complain about a cool thing to share with you guys coming up very soon Prepare you for that And then some songs to play and things like that first off This happened I never stop with this but it happened last two weeks ago when I was shooting my TV pilot

same thing um There's a crew of 60 50 60 people running around someone's house and somebody's going on a lunch run and uh they're going to quiz nose Because uh we're in corona or something and they're what are you gonna do and they're going to quiz nose In order there we got 50 60 people we don't have time to get everyone's personal order So we got order a bunch of subs and a couple of salads big salads and some some plastic plates and sports and uh Well, we'll do it on the fly So that's what they do and what happens the multiple boxes of like half subs come back and then this procedure begins It's the you know turkey supreme and then they got the smoke turkey club and then they have the beef whatever And then there's the veggie lovers Except for they should there should be a class action lawsuit about the word lover in veggie They should be like the veggie tolerators Or the pussy lovers who don't really love pussy but they love veggies But either way

There's a box of turkey club and then there's the box of the veggies and what happens? Well, of course the crew who's made up of a bunch of camera dudes are like the most solid stout dudes on the planet And by enlarge the grips and all that they'll just go right for the turkey And then it's all the turkey's gone and then the beef is gone and then there's turkey used to be the veggie by the way It used to be the veggie right that would be first to beef would go then the turkey go or the brisket and then the Now there's a box and the box has 26 Veggie subs by the way, there's nothing I would rather Just take a salad then a veggie sub just taking the bread and Putting the lettuce and the mayonnaise between it. It's it's it's like something's missing You know like I can yeah, I can take a Plain pizza or a veggie pizza, you know or just pizza with you know mushroom on it But a sub sandwich minus the meat is a porn minus the cock

As my grandfather used to know the cock was the your favorite part of the porn No, but it's essential not worth eating and it's what it does yeah to the cat You see what I'm saying I do so It is you remove the meat yes and It's not good, but we what happens is it somebody does this thing where they go All right the vegetarians need to be represented clearly just like the people who like decaf coffee need to be represented clearly Just like the people like horrible donuts with sprinkles on it need to be except for How many decaf drinkers are there in this group of 50? Overunders two How many vegetarians in this group this is for we're shooting something for spike TV You know, I mean that's not it's not opus network. It's it's Spike there. I don't know if there was one so then what happens is Everything gets cleared out with protein in it and then there's the box with the veggie thing and somehow it gets fucked up

Where the box that has that says you know turkey supreme on it gets the lid gets set on top or the thing There's a fake out move where you go. Oh, and you open it up and you start looking at it You're doing the math and it's the wilted lettuce and I don't know who decided that the bell pepper bell pepper must have a hell of a lobby Hell of a lot of it Richie's publicist Nicole Richie's publicist must also work for bell pepper because Bell pepper I like them But not raw But oh all right, I'm curious making a face nobody likes bell pepper raw between a like on a sandwich It's just it's not then your whole thing tastes like bitter bell pepper. Yes, it's not offered It's it's when you order a burger you get the cheese you can get an onion you can get a red onion you wide onion You can get mushroom you get we almost whatever you want bell pepper not an option. I feel like C28 I feel like C.A has been representing the banana pepper the last few years. Uh-huh doing very well But a lot of work. Yeah, they've they've stepped it up. There's no that package it But the package it

Bell pepper is fine when it's diced up thrown in a walk with a bunch of other good ingredients that are much better than it is There's no bell pepper on its own. What's a blue moon? You see a maniac leads one like an apple and they stand by oh No, it do you not and especially the green one washed it down with a radish. Yeah, the red the red one fine The orange or yellow one fine, but just about so you have a Have a horrible sandwich and and oftentimes there's no cheese in it because it's the sort of vegan-y What a veggie so now there's a box Now two boxes filled with sandwiches that nobody wants to eat And my new solution is if you're a vegetarian and or you're into decaf which now that's that's that's can't hang First we couldn't hang now. I want to put you in the ground You're fucking up my life and now how are you fucking up my life? Well, I just let me decaf and I went a vegetarian. I love bell peppers Okay, here's how you're fucking up my life when I stumble out to the continental breakfast over there at 11 o'clock

Which means sloppy seconds and then some over at the freebie at the Ramada in there's two towers that hold the coffee one is empty That had coffee in it the others fall that has decaf in it if you weren't born They both could have coffee coffee in them and let me just say this Also, what if you just have a weird German foot fetish? Should you be represented at the buffet? There should be a tower of feet you're into something weird that no one else is into now go fucking find it Chris saw that's foot fetish porn You look you're in a foot fetish. I dig it now go fucking find it Believe me out of it You're cutting into my stash, you know what I'm saying and the same with the fucking food because there should be another box of Turkey Club, but there is not another box of turkey clubs because the veggies have to be represented Shouldn't the solution just be 30 maybe 20 seconds of any vegetarians here any vegetarians like 20 seconds Never it's never first off the person never gets beaten up for variety

It's the same with the fucking trail mix they go and they get the fucking honey roasted peanuts and the cashews and smoked Diamonds and then the trail mix and eventually trail mix gets eaten That's the other thing since eventually these sandwiches because people get desperate They start picking stuff out of it and they'll just eat the bun or whatever because they'll be four hours later in the cruise Starts getting peckish so that's what happens, but now here's the deal I like this plan and may feel to this side of the console a little too much like Germany circa 1938, but I'd like these people tags still in the rise. I'd like them tagged. I'm gonna camp where they could go I want to I want to I think you just want to start with our bands where I start with our bands No, I want to you come for on it. I would like if you're making a list. I sort of starve dipshit Yes, starve dipshit if you are If you are vegetarian and or into de-caf coffee, I want your own live-strong bracelet Live week. Yeah, it's gonna be pink and you put it on and then we'll be able to sort of monitor you

First off, I'll decide whether I want to work with here or not. You will not be hired number one You'll be discriminating against but or just put on a green beanie or something But I want to know who you are because I suspect with this spike TV Pilot I did out of the 50 people. I'll be generous and say five people We're vegetarian those five people can go ahead and remove the turkey From the sandwiches we've already bought or you can just get three and let them fucking fight over it Though I will say I did some work with I've worked with spike quite a bit They have a note these executives ironically. There's a lot of women Yeah, they're and they might have been the one thing that get a lot of veg They were not there they do not see that's the whole point nobody ever does everyone does the same thing they go Get a go get a plain cheese go get Pepparoni and go get a veggie lover meanwhile What percentage of people are veggie lovers in the fucking group? They're maybe there may be zero

I don't think there are any vegetarians who work here, but yeah, someone's going on a pizza run. You're throwing a party You gotta never get a represent and then there's a lot of shitty pizza subs and and then decaf Don't give me decaf 50 50 ratio. Do you know a decaf person like I know the person orders the decaf at 10 o'clock at night and a diner I'm married a decaf person So I'm gonna leave her I'm announcing honey. It's over. Yeah, I can't respect you anymore. Why'd you stay around and really punish her? But in the morning Long game go home now In the morning is she like I gotta have my coffee. No, right? Yeah There's just people might just like it sometimes my car is doesn't drink coffee, but he doesn't drink decaf either He doesn't doesn't care for coffee. It's weird. I mean, I don't know It's it's the near beer of but at least near beer Possibly as I had a problem or non-alcoholic beers. I wanted to drink this, but I lost control of it But really is there any reason it should be there and especially represented 50 50 I would love

Somebody look up Starbucks. I would love when they come back well into the single digits of people who order decaf at a Starbucks Yes, I can't remember the last time I heard someone order a non a right a non regular coffee you know not at night You know, I mean I tell you how many decaf you've been in a Starbucks line a million times You've heard him shout out the whatever they've never you ever hear decaf waiters is or waiters Twitter us and let us know what percentage of your customers or decaf coffee during the day Adam You're giving me an idea. I think there needs to be instead of like a ask jeez or Siri I think someone needs to ask Adam like for the guy like the idiot having to go pick up all the sandwiches Yes, just have a way to get your your answer on what they should do Well, first the first thing is again When you put yourself in a category that is not the norm Then that's fine But if you are committed vegetarian Perhaps I mean if you're kosher If you're Muslim then perhaps it's up to you to bring a lunch

You've made a choice that's sort of exotic for where we are Uh, if you want to a Muslim country then your choice and my choice for the kibasa sandwich would be a strange choice But I would want to provide that then I wouldn't expect hey, hey, hey Muhammad, where's the kibasa? I know that sounds very I probably gonna put it sounds like a very weird person That's what you say when you're watching porn without cock too Yeah, speaking of all over the world Adam black people are sneezing right now at that comment Unless nobody tweeting me that you've seen a black person sneeze in the wild I understand it happens. I just I don't think it's the ratio in the wild I felt uncomfortable with that as well All right now legend has it where would you guys place this and then I sort of felt Like a woman feels today, which is this and drop um I was Talking about my fireproof long johns that I

Where when I do my car racing and I was explaining to dr. Drew That I put them on in LA last week before I went and did this race in Sonoma because I was so pressed for time I got into my fireproof socks long johns and it's a sort of Little mini turtle neck long sleeve thing and um I wore it out to the track I mean I wore stuff over it and then I changed my fire suit blah blah blah and I said they infuse This stuff it's a really smart move company called sparko They make high-end racing stuff they infuse it with mint So the shit smells like mint because when you take your fire suit off you are wet I mean you're sopping wet you sweat because you weren't gloves helmet a hood You weren't everything's 100 degrees you completely sweated through the thing so they infuse it with mint So Drew says let me smell that let me see what that smells like so we go and we get I say well Just go get my top. I don't need to get the bottom

But for some reason I think a breakthrough moment for you too It was it was a was a bonding moment was a little bit weird So for some reason that I only have the bottoms here because I changed and then I went and did my wine tasting Then drew an idea to show and I was wearing the bottoms the whole day. It's a long story But he got the bottoms and he gave a smell I said they're Drew and I handed him the leg and I'm talking below the knee Just the the part where there's a little last thick that goes around the ankle and I said here's all pick out a nice part And you can smell the mint and he smelled the mint And then he said uh let me see if I can tell the front or the back Here oh wow yeah, and then he turned around and he went oh, oh, that's all balls That's all balls not JV As the great deaf frack. I would say he went oh that is all boy. I got the front maybe that is all balls And I said yeah, well, there's just not enough mint In circulation to stop that especially with the six-way harness and belted into the suit and uh a lot of nerve sweat going on

I didn't give myself the talc Dusting that I normally do before I left the house and he said that's all balls and then he he wanted a second shot at it And I said uh, I said no, I said no Now how did you feel violated and he said he said yeah, I said what do you care? And I said I don't know What's a woman care if I said just leave your shoes. I'm gonna beat off on him. Yeah, and you know you're like Oh, no, no, no, you don't have to be in the room. You can split you know Like no, I don't want to think about what you're doing to this stuff. I felt weird. Yeah, and a weird for guy who has Zero moral compass and it's complete a fist and has no problem with I you know my my spent But the the majority of my early years my friends peeing on me Uh, I was like Nah now I'll hold them and so he's like uh now now he is a doctor But now I'm wondering was this the doctor part of him or some other part? I understand This concept that part where somebody goes like when you walk into the men's room and some guys some good Samaritans walking out and goes

Look out there's trouble or something and there's that part of you where you almost have to give a little sample sniff Like you just have to I don't know. It's it just me like I have no I have to do the sample sniff and I do Understand that part where if something is bad. I don't know. It's it's equivalent to you having a tooth That's loose and you're flicking it with your tongue a lot, you know, there's that little part Or like yeah, I push on bruises. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Right. So there isn't that need to immerse in the horror that's unfolding Right, I don't I don't feel like I need to double back on the sack We know ironically with no sniff. I feel it's just so appropriate So when I was in Vegas I picked you up some fireproof long johns with passion fruit I think you're gonna be very That is the wave of my sack future. So Drew wanted it again Was it because he couldn't believe it or was he just Hooked on the scent of your balls. What was going on? There's something that he's attracted to about farting and sack and and all that kind of stuff and

It was my soul mate. It was funny and he just he wanted a double back on it And I said like no and then I sort of plopped them down here and he didn't make much of it And then when the show ended he picked them up He started walking out with them and I'm like where you head, you know And he's like oh these things. I don't know. He's like throw it on the counter But it's a testing too much. This in thing was to instinct was to grab for them to walk out And again, I think it's a doctor thing because a doctor will sniff something if it's like infected Or something like that. They will oh you think he was getting a whiff of something No, I don't think he was Making a judgment call. I think it's like dogs sniff and you can't tell them not to sniff And they don't have a mode where they're not sniffing and I wonder if doctors first off They're used to being over cadavers. He had a cadaver assigned to him We could sort of rich man's hobo power. Yes. That's what's going on Right hobo power for Millionaires who have race cars right so that was nice the other thing that you would find entertaining from this is

I Went directly to the track and in my long johns and I ran right into my trailer and I immediately got Into my bright red fire suit we might find a picture of me in my bright red fire suit and it's it's red And I reason I got right into my bright red fire suit and my driving shoes is because I was going out to qualify Moments after I was giving my little talk Q&A to the folks at the track So that a room set aside some VIP thing 30 people set up some chairs I was going to sit there they're going to introduce me. I was going to sit there And I was literally at three or three 15 and then I was qualifying a four or five But I mean I had to start getting and you start getting in these cars a little bit early and getting shuffled Belted in and nets up and stuff like that sort of acclimated and takes a little while So I got my fire suit. I'm going so I'm going to go right in the car and I sat there I was taking questions over time our cars and blah blah blah and at some point about eight questions in a woman in the back said

And I don't know if we should wait for this fire suit picture see how funny if it makes it any funny or not but anyway Bright red fire suit in its glossy She said about eight questions in about half our inch she said Do you ever want to drive a car or is it just tell you just good enough to walk around the track and say hi to people look at the cars And I went oh no, I'm driving I drive every event and then I went oh my god I'm sitting here in a fire suit and then I thought oh my god what a douchebag You must think I am to climb into this fire suit and walk around Make my rounds yeah lecturing people about Automotive and then go up into the grandstands in my fire suit like dr. Oz and his scrubs. Yes like Well, oh, yeah, not quite that bad. Yeah, yeah, like I just fucking scrubs on all the time How did it been the case that would have been that bad it would have been equally bad? Thank Christy asked the question because that would have just been a human being that want want back and went this kind of fucking walks around The right fire suit and then I realize all those douchebags

You know the guys are in their forties and their 30 pounds overweight and they were in the full Sanzano sponsorship on their 10 speed or 7-11 or something like you're not sponsored by these you're not you don't wear You're not supposed to be wearing this stuff you have to kind of earn that That thing anyway, it'd be like damage that's showing up for his NFL network job In a full pads and uniform helmet the lamp light under his eyes. All right Dawson I have something it's a world premiere a world premiere everybody I went Last week wow went over to a 102 family guy and did a little pickup work and Talked to my good friend Michael Naren who does all our animation for us and He is a hard at work on my Mangria campaign, but we did a little We did he's working on the animation, but I thought it'd be fun to let you guys hear at least the audio

part of the new Mangria commercial and I Dawson you got it Mangria presents the world's most interesting man ex-wife The most interesting man in the world He claims he's from Spain He was born in Burbank His father was a famous sword maker He worked at a cinema The most interesting man in the world He's been his Saturday's walking around casco filling up on three samples He's terrified of dragonflies He was on disability for three years for what he called environmental allergies He claims to be a tourist but he's really a dick I told him for his 40th birthday he could bring someone new into a bedroom

I got home that night I Somebody's been not getting started before mommy What the fuck? This is in there with a dude. I don't always drink But where I want to forget my line Ask clown of an ex-husband who's traveling the world with a suitcase full of bullshit I prefer Mangria I Is that sounds like you got Rosie prison Pam Adlon mixed up and is that who That's a lot of you back really funny. Yeah, she's great. She's you know. It's great about her She did you know, it's a 55-year-old heavy-set Hispanic woman sitting at her apartment in her kitchen table in her apartment, but She did a young if you noticed when she did her 35-year-old version of herself. She was younger She made herself sound

15 years younger when she was walking in on the world's most interesting And the dude in there. Yeah So hopefully we'll do a nice ongoing series. Yeah, it's interesting sitting around coming up with Things that the world's most interesting man. That was uh One of my favorites is was I think was Mike Lynch's which he walks around Costco. I'll Saturday Yeah Well, that one was mine, but thank you. I know it just bizarre. Yeah, it's good to be bizarre for once and well Alrighty then David Wilde is here David has a song I have a song that's a little interesting of a little interesting of a twist to it. All right, David Wilde uh Last week Rockler Hall of Fame Watch that. Yeah, you know what you think. I love it. I I always love it. I was there. It was it was good one It doesn't it was a good one. Yeah, I feel like they're getting better every year

I don't feel like there were as good 10 years ago when they were doing it outdoors or whatever it was But you know when you get world-class musicians up there and they're all just jamming and you can tell Everyone's just digging on everyone's vibe um And you're you're a big question about John Mayer being a douchebag or not. He did such a great John. I know Albert King presentation. Yeah, very non douchebag. Yeah, and It's just great to see Everyone up there and the band you know the backing band and the horns and all that they're always the backup singers Everything are so world-class that everything just sounds phenomenal although there was one part where they went to the They went to the audience after just somebody just Belted something out and of course the dude was sitting there texting Like one chick standing up like clapping like just cheering or head off after Jennifer Hudson just belted just you know just kicked the shit out of some Donna summer song And then there's always that asshole just sitting there texting and it's like I get angry when people are supposed to be applauding and people are just sitting there like I don't know what world

You come from will plan it douchebag I know that much I know but first off few questions. Why are you there? Why are you there to catch up on texting so you can say you were there the next day All right, and when somebody says you know whatever like if I'm fucking sitting there and I'm holding a beer And it's not even a show they're just like and I want to introduce to sales team herb westveld I'll put the fucking beer in my mouth and hold it with a cup with my teeth and just go, you know Because I don't want to be the fucking person sitting there not clapping for herb westveld I've noticed that I've been clapping when we are on stage at the end of our shows when you're thanking all of us And then I think is that appropriate or is it good? But it looks like a douchebag because I'm clapping for me I do the leg thing if I got a hand I have like a donut and a hand or something or hot down my hand do the the leg thing I should invent clapping slacks So slacks not work well. Yeah, just a palm faced up there. I'll use them with my sweaty palm slacks Where it has to dry the dry hair you want someone's you'd be shaking your your pants. Yes

So other than the guy texting and ruining ruining it for me and I don't know look the songs over everyone's standing up Everyone's cheering everyone's going nuts. Did she just finished belting out? Let's dance you know what what are you doing? How fucking tuned I don't know how you can be that tuned out performance was so great I'm sure he was but everyone is now standing up and there was no it didn't end by somebody pulling the plug on an amp It was a big fucking crescendo Christy does this at least did it once during a jazzy concert. She was so excited about it for weeks weeks She was excited to go to the concert show excited And then she's but the whole time face fucking about how amazing it was. I'm like you are supposed to be getting lost in the sound This is a concert I'm excited for how much of us are missing what percentage of concerts I I Completely agree said the guy who tweeted 400 photos during the Billboard Awards All right that wild about music so uh, sorry. That's right. Um, do you have David Wilde? Do you have a memorial day song? Yeah, well in fact, uh, I have to tell you in Vegas one of your biggest fans Michelle gave me a ringtone of my theme song

So it reminded me to get back to playing the songs. I'm gonna go Michelle branch. No, you know not Michelle No, I'm not famous for sure a non-famous Michelle a famous to me Oh, there it is. Oh, yeah, we need a steam song Yeah, we're seeing him give a David Wilde Not much taller than a ten-year-old child Not the best looking guy in the place Gallagher's hair The Beatles face makes all the fun it's for the great song A brilliant writer We ever didn't show Billy Joel is gonna be driving some of the famous That'd be nice Could do I do for it? That'd be a bad drop of a truck and a boat going like this I'm gonna go for um, I I just on the way here was listening to you and your Theory about black people sneezing and I decided we took we play a lot of the honky artist on this

Segment so I want to I wanted to go More eclectic than that So I'm gonna go with the idea of Memorial Day being the beginning of the summer and this is a very white song done by a very soulful Black group. It's this is the Isle brothers version of summer breeze. Oh rail with the greatest unknown guitar Lessor known guitar god of all time Ernie Isle who if you get to the guitar just listen the guy was The master of phased guitar Oh There's no sneezing in it They they're cooking years. I think there was a great deal of sneezing I see brothers had made a comeback about 10 years ago didn't they and Ron Isle the The great sort of lead vocals. He was out of prison for a few years then he came back produced you know and had another couple hits So yeah, they've never really died They've been going since the early 60s There's a guitar that phase wow Now what ears this from

70 I would guess 74 five I didn't I didn't do much research about it just remember how much I loved it because on the way here That guitar is just beautiful and the original by seals and crocs is beautiful too But this is just exquisite this and they did a lot of like rock covers It did hello. It's me. They did love the one you're with and they were all hits in the 70s. That may be a weird song when you're Telling your Black musician bodies What do you want to do when we'll cover that seals and crocs They the guys make that fucked up puppet shows on Now it's two different dudes they sing a song called summer phrase. I don't know what the fuck that is Yeah, I'm from the same area where the iZ Brothers they had a record company called Kineck records Which was Kineck New Jersey where they lived for a while then they moved to where my dad my late great dad lived in Alpine New Jersey and they've built started to build a mansion for themselves Like a mosque in a very Jewish rich area. Wow. They ran into tax problems. They never finished They never finished this building so there was an incomplete giant mosque like structure in the middle of where a bunch of old rich Jews live

And I swear to god I remember when I was taking a walk once and seeing old rich Jewish ladies throwing rocks at it trying to knock it down Like the good news is old Jewish women don't have cannons From right arms They're persistent they are persistent They got a lot of movement on the rock But they just don't have they don't have a lot of velocity That's case there are that transition to kind of wildy veterans they get a little bit of movement Right yeah They're hard to catch for that reason Um how do we're bigger than love? This is great because it's like the blackest version of the widest song on the planet exactly This is a cross for the widest people on the planet not just I mean you see pictures of them Well they were also they were by faith. I'm very ignorant about this But they were you know they were they eventually got in a lot of trouble with the song they did called unborn child They came out against abortion and a pop song More than Paul Anka and that was one of and then they I think they eventually just sort of Went with their religion, but they were great wait a minute more than Paul Anka But you're talking about having my baby. Yes

Well that I don't know what's that again. That was it made me want to never eat again Wasn't like I didn't come away with a that was just the worst song ever That's a creepiest song ever I've ever heard but that was against abortion. Yeah. Yeah. By the way I know him can I get him in here? You would love he's got some stories We get him and we can debate for my seed in you watch you grow in And there's a creepiest song ever but I mean I guess it was sort of pro life, but I didn't know it wasn't but I mean Pro can't pro life just be pro life. You know what I mean like I like kids I like life not of this a beautiful thing. Yeah, that was the height of Was he saying anything about abortion that song you could have could have struck it from you. What's that one? Yeah, I didn't have to do it could have struck it from you. Yeah You know don't Kiss on my seat or whatever the lyric was. Yeah, it was class. You're right DNC with you and me Which by the way while this beautiful song is playing I buried the lead when I was in Vegas at the Billboard Awards. I ran into the publicist for Rick Springfield

Frankly owes me a few shuckles. Sure. As we say in the trade. Yeah, and I said I'm gonna wipe out the debt if he comes into the Adam Corolla show So it'd be nice. I think would you you would like to have Rick can I yeah, I've worked with him. He's great. He's actually I'm a Rick fan. I fought it dude What Dr. Drew story about the pants there's fighting The whole new the whole new you I I did a bit for Kimmel Where I played We can maybe look it up. I don't know Kimmel bit I played like a Colonel Duke lacrosse I think and I was um I I think it was called the Helen back or something and the story basically Was I as a as a as a trained you know navy seal or green beret or whatever had to go to hell

To get there here's here's here's what here's all right. Here's what's going on. It's actually decent story There's a new All right, we have it so hang on to it for a second um There was something that the I don't know the bible or no stratomas or something prophesized about and that this new Basically Hitler-esque style and ask character that was taking over the world and there was no way to stop him The only way to stop him was to go to hell And to basically talk to Hitler and the rest of those guys and figure out they knew how to stop him or or to go find No stratomas or whatever and then you got to go to hell and there were some monks that you know guarded a port hole the hell and I was Colonel Duke across who was going back into hell to go get this information But I had only had 24 hours or whatever it was to get back out of this port hole Otherwise I would never be able to leave hell

um While I was there I met a beautiful young woman She was in hell because I think she had I think she hey I can't remember the story but she somehow gave it up sexually or something a two-young An age and then she was fine after that but she she got she went to hell oh no oh oh oh sorry Sorry she committed suicide. Yeah She was a beautiful young woman who committed suicide over her lover whatever it is and technically Was in hell because anyone who commits suicide goes hell she became my love interest in hell But only one person could escape this port hole and of course I'm in love But I want to take her with me, but I can't take her with me. I have to take this information with me to save the world I said tarotino movie or is this a movie? It's an idea that I thought up and we did a short of it and I ended up fighting Rick Springfield in it because he was in hell I will take a look at I came remember what it's called the hell and back or something oh my god that sounds so good

uh Yeah, it's called the hell and back Yeah, we can take a look at you go to And you look it up on youtube if you want Got a mini You can't learn to headlock yeah, I can't listen to headlock fighting Hitler dude Like I the devil staying out of it. He's like on the sideline Yeah, I just killed hit by her What you can't bring any physical material objects But why why does Hitler have his whole uniform on me?

He was grandfather didn't he was It looks like something else to see yeah, I look forward to when does that coming out well We got more to see what do you mean I go back to hell? Yeah, look what I do though Trotting him when I died He wasn't you know some of it wasn't uh wasn't in hell back then Thanks grandpa Oh my grandpa that gave me no joke You Yeah, the hell and back yeah

We're looking for a pp13 by the way, but that's still up for crab again. It's called uh what is it called hell and back to hell and back Yeah, congratulations on that. Thank you. We have one more. Oh you do it. Have one other yeah To the future. Yeah, it's the future You don't Rick springfield Second is that is that Rick springfield? Yeah, okay. All right. Yeah I'm walking out behind Springfield Hey, I don't want any trouble. All right Oh Another way in a long time for this Classic Time to check back in the general hospital Let's just knock this head off and listen to the car

I think I can nude white jangles really You're That looks really good. I'll say I gotta say the best part about the whole experience I'm nude strangling Hitler and Uncle Frank walks in eating a sand That's how I look yeah, why do you springfield in hell by the way? Well, I don't know if you heard about it, but a little adulterous affair with a friend of his remember He liked this as friends girlfriend. Oh, no, that's not a dating her. That's Jesse's girl Yeah, yeah Oh, he really And late Garrett pass Ah, yeah, so I have some history with Rick Feel that he's got to come in. I'm gonna work on that. That was funny. He was evil evil Rick They try to kill me if his guitar. I love the devil just sitting on the sidelines like let's let's let's just play out a roadie Yeah, yeah, forgot about doing that bit. What was that?

I Used to do a lot of bits on Kimmel's show when I was working there as a writer probably I don't know 2000 2006. Yeah, that was one of the later ones. I used to do earlier ones. I do these like you know I had these movie projects constantly Going I would go out and launch one, but most I must say that a lot of my kooky like a navigatin Where the evil satellite takes over the navigation system and all the cars and search driving everyone into the Grand Canyon and stuff like that. They're not They're on a par with many of the action movies that are pitched today I would say I would watch to hell and back. Oh, if there was Kickstarter then there would already be four or five of the hell and back series from your math That God's years All right, your song you know to hear some my song all right last week we lost one of the greats Rayman's Eric from the doors and somebody

tweeted me and They tweeted me that I did not know this that Not only obviously in the doors, but he produced a lot of stuff X and he produced it produced X and one of my favorite X songs was a song was off an album that he produced And it's a underappreciated well. This is my favorite X song too Good. It should be should be everyone's favorite X song I If you love the harmony Goddell and X-Z Catchy there's nothing better than punk pop punchy pop. Yeah, punky poppy because It's salt and sugar like the pure punk is just a little too salty and the beer pops a little too much sugar But when you take this salt and it's like

It's a good caramel corn. It's got a little salt a little salt Because you know I grew up in the east coast and in the east coast X like in fact it rolling stone like that was this the least Favorite group for yon have us mentioned was X because really he was always like critics like X people don't like X because the east coast That was kind of true, but we had the Ramones we had but here X were a real a real it's weird because all you can tell Everyone all my Bostonian friends and stuff they're like I had no idea what you're talking about when you're talking about these bands Because they were just played out here and you know who's the weird version of East Coast And not so much on the west coast um Meatloaf Bad out of hell was was a massive album. Yes, not that big here Like where I was not southern california Not any w where I was listening or cleveland or any it was massive. Yeah, like all my friends from philian stuff are like Oh, we got every every song memorized and I'm like I've heard it meatloaf and I've heard these songs

But they never got any rotation at all over Any rock air probably This would include just rock stations and stuff. They just didn't just didn't get played that much. It was weird. It just never really Yeah, my introduction to meatloaf was from a friend from Chicago right because you lived here. I've never heard the songs right yeah meatloaf I swear to god southern california to be a smallest market for guy for now the salt 15 million copies you didn't sell too many of them in north hollywood But then acts yeah Whatever happened a regional bands like bands that were big and a certain like I grew up in the bay area and To me tower of power at least in my family I was like the biggest band around and of course they're a quarter slimated to that area more popular there than other places What ever happened to what happened to be internet? I guess yeah in the music industry now they look and they they wait for Anything to break regionally and it's immediately jumped on and excuse me. No things don't stay regional Very long and david wild you can twitter him at wild about music not only can you you should oh?

Yes, you shall and you will I'm gonna be going for a few weeks. So you got to push it hard this time Twitter wild about music and also a website Yeah, screw that all right just share the trip. Okay Let's see what do we got We have me thinking about dads and grads and how awful that is and how anytime anyone says it It makes me think are you even listening to what you're saying Well, it's kind of like the ad guy who goes um hey, we're gonna do this thing with the Dodgers and um Mm-hmm and Pepsi so how about this Hit a home run with your family and Be be a be an all star by bringing home two leaders a Pepsi and like someone goes Staying that is so fucked out like the say no, I'd go that is so wildly fucked out with hit a home run with you know That that's the stupid whenever they do that baseball thing for union 76 or something don't get called out at the gas station

Hit a home run with union 76 Does there not a human being and that fucking is that the official gas station of MLB? Yeah, look at somebody say that is who first off my fucking daughter with Down syndrome could have come up with that Like we hired you at this agency because we thought you had an ounce of creativity That is a fucking zero and not only is it a zero? It was mildly clever the first time it was come up with in 1929 It's been used 250,000 times since then stop come up with something smart All right Monica met this here. She is works for CNBC I'm guessing Yes, and an author I believe yes, that's what we want to talk about Book time it's book time baby. Yeah, I want to talk about the entrepreneurial instinct and we'll get into that next

The Adam Corolla show honors journalistic excellence with another great moment in local news So how long have you um you had an STD? I don't have an STD. Oh the might. Did you want to talk? My name is the spirit of Merrow and Cronkite live on now back to the Adam Corolla show I think we played that from New Orleans. I think so too. Uh, I enjoyed that one with first Yeah, it was the way she dealt with people getting in the back of her shot. Yeah, Monica met this here. I'm going fast saying it fast Hello It's me hta by the way If in you want to find Monica The book is the entrepreneurial instinct how everyone has the innate ability to start a successful small business I do feel that way and Unfortunately takes a lot of work and everyone seems to want to know what the secret is

I don't think there is a secret. Do you have a secret? Uh, I definitely have new things to share and um The reason I wrote this book is because I spent most of my life doing exactly what society trains you to do when you want to start a business I got good grades in school. I went to you know the best school I could get into the best Ivy League program for small business Majority and entrepreneurship work does a venture capitalist Basically jump through every single hoop that you're supposed to jump through or society tells you to jump through and found at the end of the day I could write killer business plans But couldn't take the risks that someone needs to take to start a small business And it was exceptionally frustrating for me because I'm the daughter of self-made immigrants And my dad was a merchant marine ships captain and my mom was an artist and we sailed around when I was little and we hit this point where I was hitting the age that you have to go to school and my dad had to completely reboot just start all over And he moved my family here to America and um took a third of his life savings and invested it in Indian handicrafts

Had absolutely no plan no background with Indian handicrafts and just decided you know what? I'm gonna sell this stuff and so we moved here and literally he started going door to door and every single door slammed in his face And after about a month my mom was like maybe you should go get a job And the only job he could get paid half of what he made as a ship's captain So he was like no thanks and he went back out there and he decided if no one's gonna buy my stuff I'm gonna open my own store and so savvy Very this was the business plan this was the twist and so Being new to the country he had absolutely no credit history and even though he had a little bit of savings No one would give him the time of day no landlord would lease him shit So Basically he ended up taking this job that paid not much at all and in his off hours would drive around and look Scout for locations to open a store. He was just Dead set on doing this and meanwhile all this inventory that he bought was

Lining the apartment that we lived in and like we'd put tablecloths on some of them and those would be our tables and Basically it took about a year and he finally found this restaurant space which he converted all by himself and Opened up his little gift shop and within the first month The sales were about 35,000 which almost was about what he was making as a ship surveyor Wow, and the second month the sales doubled and then from there They fell off of a cliff and it was because it was Christmas time So people were buying these gifts and so to make a long story short Over 30 years this little gift shop turned into a chain of apparel stores for which they started opening factories to make their own merchandise And then they started selling to macy's and blooming dails and sacks And then when they had all this merchandise for their whole selling business My dad started attending foreclosure auctions and all of a sudden he really got this knack for buying property on the cheap And over 30 years this tiny little gift shop turned into a diversified investment company that made them millionaires many times over my dad

It's the exact same story. It's your oh wait a minute The brag about it though. It doesn't like talking about he doesn't talk about it But his mistress is to see Or some chicken shelly lives in Covina Either way, but your dad had a motor Meaning he had a belief Yeah I believe well here's the interesting here's the question I don't know if guys like your dad ever know Or believe it's going to work They just have to keep clawing like they just have to they want to get that they want to get that real estate They want to get that merchandise. They want to do it Because I wonder it's almost in a weird way. It's like show business I don't know what percentage of people that make their living in show business or in a in a band or whatever Thought it was gonna happen or just went that's all I can do or that's all I want to do And that's what thus they did it right so his story is not that unique

There's so many different immigrants that I grew up in my own community in Houston where I grew up That have this story and they became really successful over time and frankly the frustration I felt not being able to start a business myself having all of this training I started doing what comes easily to me I just started picking up the phone and calling other entrepreneurs that never wrote business plans that never went to business School to see you know Can you connect the dots is there something similar among these people and Adam you're a wise man because what you're talking about is this biased to action and so as I started interviewing these people They had a very similar way of talking about taking risks and having this Just impulsivity almost and out of sheer coincidence I was introduced to researchers of behavioral finance. So it was a neuroscientist and like a party total party a nerd party A behavioral psychologist and a neuroscientist who study financial risk taking with the stock market and they turned me onto research Out of Cambridge University where they basically took entrepreneurs and corporate managers with equivalent IQ and equivalent years of experience to understand

What is it that makes the entrepreneur different they gave them a battery of FMRI scans all these wires to the brain and behavioral tests and at the end of the day What they functional MRI What they found was that if you give these two groups of people who are equally smart and equally experienced Information and say hey answer these questions like a smart person they all answer the same way But when they ask them questions of upside gain and downside loss the entrepreneurs overwhelmingly took risk your bets And while they were taking while they were anticipating taking these bets There was a chemical release in a side of the brain called the reward pathway This chemical release is linked to impulsivity another thing they found is in behavioral studies They these entrepreneurs scored higher on cognitive flexibility which in late terms is adaptability What they found is what makes the entrepreneurs different is the ability to take risks and that can further be broken down into Impulsivity plus adaptability well You know, I've always

Over sort of simplified, but I always say Um You should bet on yourself Like um giving someone $50,000 and telling them make it into $100,000. I don't necessarily trust but For me, I'll bet on myself like I Spend a lot of money on this podcast Whereas a lot of folks that are doing podcasts don't spend a lot of money on their podcast Simply because I believe you have to spend it to make it and you can Can stay small and save all your money, but you're gonna kind of You know, you have to build a new building or you have to build out a new studio and you have to hire people And it costs something but ultimately you're betting On yourself I've found that though It's it's appalling to me that our System and especially our school system does not focus on this at all and forget about that Entrepreneurial spirit they don't focus on

How to set up a retirement plan or how to properly save your money or what you should be looking for in an investment or so on and so forth I somebody tweeted me this there day that that's the majority of schools really do nothing It can be an elective or maybe You can you can take you can take a economics class, but it should It's funny that's part of the curriculum Well the one thing you're gonna need to know I mean there's a there's a universal thing that we're all gonna need to know when we leave this Establishment at 18 called high school um You know histories good you know little something about world war one that'll be fine And if you know a little something about math and English and so on and so forth all this stuff is fine But the one thing which is how to generate money and Because that one thing is going to cover everything else The part about you immersing yourself in world war two history That you can do on your own time on your own dime if you choose to and if not who gives a shit

I don't know I have no idea what Mark Cuban knows about world war two. I don't give a shit I suspect he doesn't give a shit and none of his stockholders or shareholders give a shit either He's good at what he does I think my wife is making fun of me the other day about you know Not knowing how to spell or work the computer or something and I just tell her I have three guys I pay to do that. I don't need to know how to do that the D students run the company and then I said or No kidding. How good do you think Michael Jackson was at working on his car She went and that was that she left the kitchen You don't need to know all the kitchen You need to know how to make money and how to save money and how to manage money And it was a topic that was in my family Never discussed in the school Never discussed of course the friends. That was just the blind leading the blind You know the question I would have is how much the maybe monarchy can answer is how much As well how much can it be taught because it sounds like there's different theories of how to how to make money

Yeah, so the study that I was talking about just sort of exemplified that there is an innate aspect to it Some people are born this way and what happens is they have fewer neuro receptors in the reward pathway of the brain This is the part of the brain that feels pleasure feels motivation as is essential to the learning process And what happens is these people who are born with fewer neurotransmitters inadvertently spend the bulk of their life Seeking out activities that cause the release of this chemical called dopamine So they're thrill seekers they're impulsive they're gamblers But they also make fantastic entrepreneurs and in fact a lot of them have ADD now the other thing is for the rest of us So it's like 15% of the populations born this way the rest of the population the knee jerk reaction for us is to feel this other thing called loss a version So when you face a moment of failure or ambiguity the knee jerk reaction for the rest of us is to to basically remember failures from the past That's the amygdala side of the brain and you basically start this game of 20 questions and you start thinking hey

I can analyze my way through this risk and what happens is you only More deeply root yourself in this emotion of loss aversion and the people who came up with loss aversion which is basically the corollas The corollas of high-dark yes, my fucking family does the same that you know It's it's it's it's like when I told them I'm moving out of my one house and I'm moving into another house And I think I'm gonna rent out my old house versus sell it when the market wasn't so fantastic and all I got was a chorus of What if a pack of marauding bikers move in with the raccoons and I was like Well and they trashed a place, you know, and then they don't pay you and I'm like well I will see if I can weed those people out and I'll get a nice size cleaning deposit that they can put down and that we have the same parents Just have you thought of every possible bad thing that happened which is why you should not take this action Yeah, or maybe I rented out to a nice chick who pays me in advance for a year and cash and then

Two years later I sell it for an extra hundred grand like why are you giving me all the and by the way I just do the opposite of whatever you people say anyway, so this is working nicely Keep it up. Yeah, if you really didn't want me to run out the house say that's a capital idea son excels And then I think about selling it So by design when you start doing that you're basically guaranteeing that your brain is Pressing all the buttons that make you take no action at all And so if you're not born this way the key is to start activating that side of the brain that makes you impulsive right that reward pathway of the brain Because these two sides of the brain while they're not linked It's almost like a traffic light one makes you go when makes you stop But they can't both be on at the same time So if your instinct is to feel loss aversion then the way to get out of it is to focus on reward And there are a lot of different things you can do that make you kind of shut that Fearful side of the brain off and turn on the side of the brain that makes you focus on reward It could be a passion it could be mo for some people

It's money for other people it can just be you know faith having this like irrational Acceptance that you know, I'm gonna do this because deeply rooted in loss aversion is this irrational fear and there's no amount of logic that helps you talk your way out of it Well, I've always the thing that I find interesting then I finally get it like I never really sort of Got business people because I thought oh, you're just in business and you don't care if you're selling shower curtains or Or art it doesn't matter. You're just you're just a business person then I realized It's not business. It's a sort of psychological chess game that you're having with society which is I have this product or the service or something A is it good does it work and then B that's Less than half the battle how do I get it in front of this many eyeballs or how do I get it into this many households or this many cabinets or whatever it is and then it becomes this sort of fun and interesting

um Almost psychological game of you know, I invented man gria good I can enjoy it with my friends on the weekend or I can try to sell 100,000 cases, but how do you sell 100,000? Cases where do you go? How do you who do you How do you get people to participate in it if you charge too much you get nothing if you charge You know not enough you make nothing, you know Where's that balance? Where's that sweet spot how and no matter what the product is and then I started to realize It's more the psychological part of it That's interesting to me and that's fascinating to me rather than whatever the product is that becomes then the challenge And I guess you can now you're thinking like a manager. Oh really oh shit I've lost my edge. Yes, I have a question you touched on it earlier Monica about what's I'm curious What separates these entrepreneurial spirit people with the FMRI light up the dopamine areas with

What separates them from problem gamblers because it sounds like there's there a crossover because it sounds like the same But I hear that described it sounds like it's the same type of thing. That's a great question It's a lot of the gamblers A lot of the gamblers are also the folks that have that impulsivity They've got the fewer neuro receptors and they're inadvertently seeking out activities that cause the release of this chemical Yeah, we go. I I've said many times I'd like to convince my kids that they're unlucky meaning I Don't gamble at all I am a guy who lost his job for four four so years ago and Then found a automobile that was for sale for three hundred and twenty thousand dollars and borrowed a hundred thousand dollars from my Systems dad to buy this doesn't sound like responsible, but that's a cavity. That's that's your version of gamble You might you might you might that's gambling on me, but that you know it's smart. You know smart game. I can control the dice I know that get I know this I know yes, you know it's a smart gamble a smart roll the dice right

I can't when I'm sitting there and Adam bought a car that you're sure was gonna go up in value and it did right? Yeah And I said you understood. It's an asset understood and when I'm but if I'm sitting at a blackjack table and someone's flipping cards in front of me the person to my right Let's try to mean nuts. We'll get blackjack like somewhere around the fourth time they get it and then the person to my left gets it for the fifth time and I've gotten zero Uh, and I was there longer than them. That's the point where I just fucking get up and go go cry in the in the lounge So I realize if someone's gonna be flipping the cards I'm out. I have no luck with that if I can control the cards And it's still a gamble, but it's an asset that I understand then if I'm in charge And still there's always a known and there's always you know lightning coming down from the sky hitting a tree branch and crushing your car Uh, but if I can control it I mean it if I can't I'm gonna lose and I want to teach my kids don't buy any lottery tickets Don't think you're gonna be the the last one. Don't think you're gonna go down and hit that lottery or hit that

Wish my time hit that exacta down at the track you go make your own luck Um, and I don't mean this does that mean to defend gambling here But I think the thing with blackjack people who are into it is that unlike a lottery ticket or something that feels very arbitrary The way you play the game it affects it. Oh sure. I mean, I know how to play blackjack, but you still feel unlucky Well, you can into it Here's the way I feel I realize that most of the things that I did not control or get involved in I Got screwed by meaning I had my parents or My schools or I I got you know certain things like this. I had to take drivers at At there were two guys who taught drivers said there was mr. Smith Guy with the big mustache who was on the football it was football coach and a the coolest sort of cowboy guy around And he loved the hell out of me because I played football and then there's mr. Gregory Who was the dick I got mr. Gregory he failed me. I had jobs. I had some of the worst jobs you've ever

Sort of dangerous meats Should have been a lawsuit meets everything else. Oh, there's Gary Smith the the real Gary Smith the first Gary Smith The good Gary's now you look at that guy That's the guy you want teaching your driver's ed. He's also a football coach and The he's you know Glenn Campbell's circa 1975 That's a guy and I got mr. fucking Gregory who was an asshole and he fired me and then every job every form and I had was Horrible and I just realized I don't have any luck like I had a really shitty hand dealt to me until I started getting involved and once I started getting involved all of sudden Luck change, you know and luck people can go will you have your health? Yes, that's that's true That's what those people I know but no, it's important But what I'm saying is is when I started sort of going I'm gonna go seek out this guy And I met Jimmy Kimmel and I hung on to that guy with both hands and stuff like that And I started making my own luck then things started working nicely for me

So I do look at myself is marginally unlucky and I want my kids to look at that way too because I don't want them Thinking they're gonna go just clean up at the track All right, the book by the way Monica's book is available on Amazon Entrepreneurial instinct and speaking entrepreneurs you want to go Through Animal Pro.com and click on the Amazon banner and let us uh, what our beaks just a little bit See how that works, baby. All right. Let's do a little news Allison Rosen. Yes She reads some news from her iPad some times. It's good some times as bad at Allison Allison And when it's time to wrap it up she'll sign it off with zip it cut it's Allison Oh This is good news or bad news depending but the two production companies behind the hangover part three and Jack and Jill Have teamed up to bring us a movie based on medieval times the restaurant where you just or where you watch josting uh-huh

Wow I've always again No, I've never been But when I was a little kid my parents took me the one in Vegas Excalibur, which is essentially the same thing. So yes Um, it's fun for kids as I've said many times. I've never eaten like a big veal chop or anything and went where's my tournament Like I there's no almost zero turn like I've never went to a good steakhouse like there's nothing better than Going to lories and getting some prime rib and eating a nice big cut of Juicy prime rib you have to bring them big aluminum Zeppelin that cut it for you right there and then they put the mashed potatoes and gravy I mean, it's great and it doesn't get any better if I don't need to see out of work actors josting Wouldn't so it's like oh this is good. I don't want a distraction But on the other hand, there's people that go and go ah You know, I don't know that's a ball of also That's a time that I went separated from my dining experience

You know like I understand the luau kind of thing like I'm gonna sit and they're gonna dance and that's a hot chick with the coconut bronze She's playing the ukulele relax, but the medieval times. I feel like didn't have refrigeration figured out Yeah, there's a lot a lot of bad disease and teeth and you know a lot of that stuff going bad and even as a whatever I was 13 to 14 year old keep in mind I could tell that's an open horse track. There's a lot of horse smells going. Yes Yeah, yeah and dust being sent up into it. What smells horsey. Yeah, what smells horse? No, I said it oh yeah smells horse Yeah, everything is back from a stable is what you get and take Yeah, and it didn't feel like you're eating like you're eating in the grandstands and And also it seems like the world's biggest banyhanna like we have to sit with a bunch of people Because it is You're sitting next to a bunch. You're sitting like bleach. Yeah, you know where that night's gonna go right? It's a theme night. Uh-huh. That's not much of a night Yeah, to me

Here's the the theme of the restaurant should be best fucking fill in the blank food we can find Japanese or Stay-couse whatever your ribs whatever you're going out for let's get the best one that'll be good I'll that'll be enough for me, but they're making a movie good Have you guys been to the ren fair? Um, I went to the one in Topanga once Because I had to work or something or bring something there or something something like that That is very similar to medieval time. I went to that once a long time ago And I think I dipped some candles and enjoyed it. Do they make you do it in high school? A high school made us go our freshman by the way. That's euphemism for blue copper eyes on horseback I want to dip my candle that day Yeah, yeah, I got my my wig wet No, in high school they did not make us go. What are they making grown-ups too for That's the part that drives me insane. That is different company. Yeah, maybe the same, but the fucking grown-ups You're reviewing it later in the summer. I don't know. I the first one must have made money

I understand that there are things that make money, but that does does not make them good and doesn't mean people want to see The producers entrepreneurs do you you have to spend all the same? Absolutely, you have to come up the lot of money and you could lose a lot of it. I'll see you baby All right, yes, that's the question like our producers You perhaps are bringing us grown-ups too. Are they even trying to make a good movie or is it just something they think can make money? They have a Formula which is Adam Sandler plus you know, Chris Rock plus David Spade plus Kevin and whatever and all those guys together and X amount into outdoor advertising X amount into TV and X amount of appearances on you know, Kimmel and the tonight's show and Letterman are going to get this result It's just math right. It's just math and thus you've removed all the art from this from this endeavor which is fine, but I always want to know like We you have I

Understand you want to be successful but You have a legacy as well, too. Do you not like When Adam Sandler's gone do you want people like sitting around getting a You a box set of your work and have grown-ups wanting to to be in that box set the thing you mentioned earlier Which is the way you used to think about business? Which is oh you just love selling things or you business man just love you know Making people or getting people to buy things I think that's a difference then entrepreneurs who either believe love their product believe in something Love business versus a salesman which no I there's a guy this and get it out into the world and there's a money There's a guy named Jack Jiraputo who works for Sandler and we were pitching a movie to him a sports movie and he sat in there and first off he was just With the success because it was happening at that very moment a Paul Blart mall cop So he was seeing there, you know going Blarts really, you know tearing up the box office, you know

And then he was explaining that he was involved with two of the highest grossing uh The two highest grossing sports movies of all time One is the water boy and the other is the remake of the longest yard and I just sat there But I thought hey 40 something year old guy Do you want this other 40 something or old guy to be wildly impressed that you worked on three piles of shit Like the suck Paul Blart sucks the remake of that sucks water boy suck You're not talking to a nine-year-old as not bring your semi-retarded kid to work day You're seeing your guy writes movies and does comedy so I of course would not be impressed by your pile of shit Would I Why you bragging to me and I guess you're bragging that you made a bunch of money But let's not Separate it from being the piece of shit that it is and was so what about kids programming the wig holes and all of that Not listen I listen to change change change change I

Had I read a book With my son last night. Thank you. Hey, I listen Obama takes a hero to raise your children. No sunny read it out They did okay. Hey, it's a quality time. He helped me with the big words Did you know there was a G and strength Anyway So he read this and when I was done I announced Listen if you would like to write but you have no talent for writing whatsoever You can always write children's books kiddies if you ever decide that you have any unyielding desire to write something But yet you possess not an ounce of creativity. Well, then just go ahead and write for kids and I mean I was at My daughter got a cornea scratched and I was at the Whatever hospital urgent care on Friday night with her and they offered her like a little trinket when she was leaving And they had a door the explorer like a little flashlight like a potion and door the explorer comes up on the wall

And then Diego comes up and I'm go put it back I don't want her fucking head polluted with that garbage door the explorer as such a just Vacuum of zero bullshit. It's such a fucking creative cop out and What I want to say to all these people is this Do not hide behind the shield of it's for the kids you can create creative things for the kids Kids inherently know when things are good and funny just like you responded as a kid to the stuff that was better Than the junk and there's plenty of programming that's on there that is clever and it is interesting And that you can actually watch with your kids SpongeBob is funny for adults. It's funny for kids It's clever. I don't watch it, but I hear it's good the point is this then there's door the explorer That is a fucking vacuum and all it oh there's only only things in it is shit. It's a shit vacuum It's a Hoover of shit and the people that create that and Kai you and all the rest of that Furby yes are Fucking bankrupt packs and I know every single one of you here every one of you show me that fucking speck script

You wrote for signfelder friends that was passed on in the 90 show me I know there's tons of examples of you guys trying to cut it in the adult world You're fucking hacks. You can't create so you ended up over here Now you're heroes because you create for kids and you're fucking zeros And I know it and if you could create for adults you would but you can This is the scene in the movie or the guy behind the desk has the mad about you script. He's pushing it You know what holds the test of time old muppet show Yes, the late 70s early age muppets that smoke muppets in a bar and bra with Cindy Duncan There there should be there should be a class action lawsuit against door the explorer That's all saying that you you're you are Robin children of their valuable youth they could be learning something instead They're having their brains fucking polluted with fucking Diego and swiper the fucking fox and the monkey's their stuff Don't forget dude that flashlight sounds cool. Oh, that's the news. I'm Allison Rosen's it bit cunts

That was the news with Allison Rosen great moment with me and the fat nurse for us like that's junk Don't take it and you guys shouldn't be giving that stuff out and making kids at the idiots. It's why they're getting injured It's just it's fucking horrible and it's all this everything's bilingual too It's just it's such a fucking cop out. It's such a piece of shit I challenge when you ask wipes Please when you ask wipes it works on that you please try to write something Write a fucking greeting card that's remotely entertaining right something because that is a fucking zero And if you could write it you would Monica, thank you sweetie. Oh, thank you come back anytime The entrepreneur real instinct. Sorry, it's gonna say spirit instinct available on Amazon You know what to do and until next time. Oh, let's see quickly. Let's see Allison Rosen's your new best friend. There you go Allison everybody This week's guest Chris Maxopetta and the Borsal and Punisher. Oh, don't believe a word.
