I wish we could have filled that void, but I felt it best. You know, you pick your battles during football season. We just talked about like the people needing to grow up with the scheduling debate about, you know, you just say no, you skip the football game or screw you for scheduling anything during football season.

3:07It's all about picking your battles this time of year, especially when you are directly working around it. And yesterday was a pick my battle day. So there was no KSO show, but we'll hit it hard for the next four days and get you ready for K state in Washington state coming up this week and early look at the line. Cursey of our partner at Pauling Market, K state 18 and a half point favorite hovering right around 90% that you can trade at at this point and the game total sitting at 49 and a half, which I'm sure some people are probably thinking after what they saw from K state. You know, well, is that case dates team total? I mean, but Washington state was, you know, somewhat stingy on Saturday or on Sunday, excuse me against Washington, however, and we'll talk about this. I don't know if it's today or tomorrow, but Washington also let quite a few opportunities out there and I have a really hard time kind of gauging what was Washington state doing well in that game versus what was Washington doing poorly.

4:10I can tell you this Washington state was not doing offense well. I would agree with that via the interesting thing is like the game winner trade has like really hover like at first, there was like, I think close to like 85% and it's been about 89 90% the last day and a half. So really after everybody's sock what case state has done and what Washington state did on Sunday, that's when you've seen the case state percentage go way off because I mean it, it's been 89 90 91 for about the last 24 hours. So a lot of people on K state this weekend, at least when. Yeah, well, we'll talk more about that game throughout the week, Colin Klein was able to do a little bit of talking about it yesterday and his regular weekly press conference. All right so we are going to take a look at what Colin Klein had to say yesterday he had a couple of moments where we've seen the funny bone come out for Colin Klein and he's gotten some some laughs from inside the room and they've extended a social media once the clips have gone out including when he was asked if he noticed what will he tried to accomplish on Saturday with all the points. I think 394 is what we were told yeah yeah I think Willie had a little too much fun this summer sound like no I mean I would that would kill me so buy to do that in three hours that would that would put me under.

7:39That props the Willie and justice for him because he's the butt of a lot of jokes right now that's a lot of push ups that he had to do on on Saturday and you know I think some people you would say well you know they don't they switch them out at half time okay even if they did switch who was the on field Willie at half time of the game on Saturday. The guy doing it the second half I still I think my wife and I look total that yesterday the second half you did like 208 push ups alone yesterday it's at least over 200 in that time frame so then if you're the guy that had to do them all it's blazing hot out you're trapped inside that massive head and yes well that does make it a little bit easier that you don't have to go down as far. You're happy to like support that thing and hold it up with your neck so Colin Klein was giving was giving Willie a pass there recognizing that it was a hard task and then you're ready should lay off of Willie right now. I have a little bit of I wouldn't say a first hand knowledge but I'd say like maybe second and third hand knowledge that it was the same Willie.

8:47I it looked like the same one the whole game so yes I I would give that poor individual a pass yes yeah I also feel bad for whoever that Willie is and I can guarantee you that whoever that was is hoping that whoever the next Willie is that they have to do a lot. Yeah or you know they're they're probably hoping for an away game you don't want to you don't want to say I hope they don't score that much this weekend now you want him to score a lot against Washington State but in a way game wanted to be in the worst thing in the world you know you know half of the do it in front of the the home crowd but hey he made it through and honestly Willie. Willie was better than those LSU cheerleaders that were viral though they even score them points and didn't have a giant head on their head. I would I would just say this like I actually like the fact that it played out the way that it did because it emphasizes how much K state was able to do offensively that Willie was physically exhausted and spent.

10:00So it fit the night like that's that's perfect so I think it's it's good there but everybody lay off Willie he did a great job. Colin Clive was also asked what would what he would consider a good night of sleep right now. Oh man probably five and a half six would be alright. Yeah. Not so well though. Not there yet. So they're obviously alluding to the the legacy of Bill Snyder and five and a half six out I mean that's honestly I think not that bad given the time of year in the profession that he's in. I'm going to be honest that was more than I expected him to say. Yeah, yeah well hey that's a I'm impressed by that five and a half six that's that's functional there if I get six like I go it's not the worst thing in the world. I'm probably able to push it to like typically like seven right now I'm in bed though far earlier than I'm sure Colin Klein is I just sit there forever.

11:07So you know it is what it is all right let's get into some of the more serious talking points first I'm sure everybody wants an injury update on McCuy Mason well here's all six seconds of it that Colin Klein provided. I don't think it's going to be as bad as as what was maybe initially thought so very very positive on that front. What do you think that means true what what what do you think that we can get from that do you think that say hey I'm not saying he's playing this weekend but he can play this weekend or he'll be back by the time we face Houston type of deal. I'll put on my doctors had a little bit maybe they thought that initially it might have been like a high ankle sprain but it ended up just being like either a sprain or he did just kind of roll it. And it might just be kind of like a pain tolerance thing of how many steps that he can go from now until at least a week that that's kind of what my interpretation is is like maybe they thought it was maybe like a high ankle and it ends up being less than they expect it maybe he plays this week maybe he doesn't.

12:15How how detrimental would it be for K state I mean it's only one game and obviously they didn't need to play the whole thing he couldn't because he went out but like how how big of a hit would that be for K state to play without McCuy Mason. This week I think it would be not like a huge deal but it would be noticeable because I think that with what you're going to get from Washington state now without probably their best offensive player who happens to be a wide receiver you're playing a lot of runs from Washington state and a lot of QB runs from the cougars so that that probably impacts it a little bit but. I don't think that it's like detrimental because I also think that this could be a game where the defensive line really stands tall and shows up because Washington states offensive line didn't look fantastic for much of the game. Well and you know I would say this it also helps that gay powers looked really good on Saturday so you feel like okay you have we were worried about we knew McCuy Mason and then what's it look like after him with linebacker gay powers gave a good enough performance that on a game by game basis right now you go into the next one thinking that he can he can do some good things for you and you trust in that and then it's okay what's it look like behind him and who goes out there to be the second linebacker with gay powers of McCuy Mason it's not playing.

13:41And all three linebackers that weren't McCuy Mason I thought looked solid like western Polk looked really quick on the field and then explain why I looked pretty solid so like I think that you can get by with this game but if you're reading also between the lines McCuy Mason saw the depth chart saw the number one line there's not even an or like maybe he's able to give kind of like not probably a little bit more pain or more related on Saturday. I think it's nickels playing like 14 snaps so maybe you only get like 20 snaps of McCuy Mason and I think that's good enough which by the way they did mess with the depth chart a little bit. Ronnie Field is now listed first among the running backs after being let listed at the bottom so for some reason that means something I don't know what exactly but it does so just in case you want to read into that and think that maybe it means McCuy Mason will be out there we will see come Saturday. But I don't imagine we're going to get much else on that for the foreseeable future the opponent is Washington state this week and there is one tie directly for a case date coach to the new head coach of the cougars and I'd be Sean Gleason to Kirby more they were working together at Missouri last year.

15:02Yeah I mean you can definitely see the I mean he's he's got his fingerprints on it for sure and and they're they're building from the the structure and things that he's done and and done very very well and won a lot of games with so there's there's history there. So that was conclined playing it very safe and not giving much of an answer to a question about do you get anything from Sean Gleason and Kirby more having work together at Missouri like that and I think the answer would obviously be that yes case date does probably gain some advantage of those two having work together mainly the fact that you know Sean Gleason is not coming in to be running his own offense at case date he is. So that's following the direction of this is what Colin Klein and Christian Ellsworth and Josh Buford were doing it Texas a and M and previously at case date and so it's not like there's going to be much that I think Kirby more can get outside of like the normal work that a coaching staff would do to try to to game plan.

16:11Like a lot of a lot of principles that Kirby more would have done with the Missouri offense are going to be things that he is going to take to Washington state that you might be able to pull away from there so I think that was just a pretty safe simple coach speak from Colin Klein but I do think that there is probably some benefit to what case date gets out of Sean Gleason being on the staff at the very least you can you know if you're watching something offensively for Washington state and you have a question about it they can pretty easily ask Sean. No I 100% agree and it's not even just like you could also if you're a player and your defensive player you can also ask Josh Manning because I imagine that the terminology is the same. For a lot of Washington state does now to what Missouri did under him and I had some people that watched a lot of Missouri games last year talk about that Washington state and looks very similar to what Missouri did a year ago so I I think that there is a little bit more of an advantage there than what is being led on but I think that it's probably smart to kind of keep that pretty close to the best but I I think that is. So I think that's somewhat of an advantage and it's no different in the lead up to this the you know Kirby more in the back could watch a lot of tax and games to kind of get ready because I would imagine that even before Sunday.

18:44I'm ready for Washington state case it was watching a lot of old Missouri games from last year in the year previous so I get it's kind of goes hand in hand there and I bet that they probably kind of compared some of that old Missouri film to Sunday and kind of what that really looks like now that he's in charge because it is interesting that Kirby more doesn't call the plays for Washington state. Yeah well you know that some head coaches aren't cut out for it they can't handle it on that note we'll finish off with the last thought on Washington state and this was calling Klein being asked about Caden Pinnick the Washington state quarterback he transferred in from UC Davis had a really strong season for the Aggies last year. However he got off to a really good start on Sunday first play the game is a really nice run for him the Washington state offense really didn't do a whole lot after that point but this is what Colin Klein had to say on Caden Pinnick. No I think he's I think he's incredibly tough I mean that was a physical game yesterday afternoon just watching on TV you know he stood in there at times and made some big time place throwing the ball getting getting hit and under duress you watched him I mean how he put the offense on his back and I think that's a good thing.

19:59And a couple of those drives to make it put the game in contest there second in this early and second half and you know I think he's a he's a really really good football player and we have to we have to have a good plan for. So that was just his thoughts on Caden Pinnick worth sharing now let's talk a little bit about. Conclined and being the play caller as the head coach he gave some insight into what his process is like when the defense is on the field because you're having to manage still managing the game in totality as the head coach but also. As the offense of play caller there are things that you need to go and talk to a re Johnson about our other members of the offense or your offensive staff so he gave a little bit of insight as to what that was like on Saturday yeah so. Trying to blast through the film from the last series so I get the iPad switch over the defensive side so I'm hearing everything that's going on and what's what's happening and what they're talking about.

21:00Lasting through the film offensively to see if there was anything that I had a question about or didn't know what front it was or didn't know what happened away from whatever I was looking at just to just to get it in my head. And then kind of once once I get that done I went over if there was something to visit with every about or visit with running back about or tight ends or whatever then then get that done. And then kind of be involved with some of the process and follow the game management and what's what JP was doing on the other side just to stay on top of what was going over there and then. Flip back to the offense once the transition was either happened or special teams went on and kind of got with coach Smith and coach Gleason to kind of talk about a couple of next thoughts of where I was going and where I was headed next what I was thinking and then any feedback that way we'll take us where we need to go.

22:01So there you go just a little bit of an idea of how this thing operates when you're the head coach and calling plays he made it seem a lot less chaotic than I'm sure it is but as we know Colin Klein is he's pretty capable of handling that and I think is always kept a pretty calm demeanor and say would be said for the guy that coached him and obviously he's taking a lot away from that so just notable there and need to kind of follow along with. I think that I really help that he is such a smart offensive mind that he probably does have to watch a ton of the offensive film to really understand it like he can watch it long kind of just move on from it and go and go and go. What I'm interested in though is like you know when your defense gets six three and outs to start the game how much of the offensive driver you actually getting to see. Yeah I mean especially if it's like that first drive of the game I guess it wasn't that many plays but you think about the fact that there wasn't a break you didn't go to TV commercial so you didn't have like that three minute break or something.

23:16I bet it's probably pretty easy to just kind of go through you know because the plays are only like six seconds long each one so you can do it pretty fast but yeah it's it's a good point yeah you how how much are you able to watch on some of those longer drives. And then like also you're doing some multitasking without really knowing it because like he said he's listening to what's going on defensively not actually watching it but then also watching the iPad of the the offensive drive like that that would be quite the experience that's something that like when they. Do like a new fan experience that's what they should allow you to do of like you're going to have the defensive play call on your ear and you're going to be watching the offensive drive I thought about this yesterday listening to him talk about that and I was like I would like to you know I think it'd be really hard to do to replicate but I would like to kind of like go through the experience of that and just here and see what it's like and how you kind of have to manage it I think that'd be a really cool thing to.

24:21To kind of to kind of go through I don't know maybe that's maybe that's an offseason pitch for us to make is to try to at the very least is there a way to record the audio of it and we can we can kind of hear or like you know can we throw a headset on us and just let it roll and let's let's operate like I would I would be very fast saying to see. What that sounds like and like then you would also have to hear your task like this is what you need to get accomplished yeah to like you have to go here yeah so I just it is very fast saying to see how it works but. If we can't get the media of ask of all game we should at least be able to get this true that's true alright one of the things that was important to talk about was the offensive line because we know that they're missing a few pieces that they were counting on this season or at least. At 100% right now so where did they go from there and this is what Chris or excuse me con client thought he did talk about the physical practices and if he thought they benefited case they are not which I thought was interesting because when you discuss like the injuries to the offensive line I think there could be some people that have the train of thought well.

25:36I think they were just freak injuries that's kind of how I I go in the world of football like you know the we these guys can't play five snaps of a preseason NFL game anymore because you think they're all going to get hurt it's like injuries happen they could happen at any time you can't play in a bowl game because you're going to get hurt like I get by not playing your risk of injury is zero but also by playing your risk of injuries only like 5% probably less than that I mean think about every Johnson he plays he plays a position that these guys all panic about the guy has never missed a start in his career so anyways that's just a little bit of a rant so I'll play the offensive line thoughts after you hear if you thought the physical practices in the offseason benefited the cats. I know I know I did and I think just even from you know and there's there's a lot of little things you know that we do need to tighten up that are very very normal for a first game type situation but credit to our guys because of how hard we've gone for how long we've gone you know there were less of those first game moments out there for a lot of new guys on the roster and entirely new staff and all of those things credit to them.

26:53So that was on the physical practices and I'm sure as the season goes on we'll think that it's even more beneficial and then this is again the thoughts on the offensive line. The first group had no ma's which was really really good I think there was a clean understanding of what we were trying to get accomplished their understanding of what we were trying to get accomplished. It wasn't perfect don't but we were trying to do the right thing right so I thought that was really really good from that group. I thought there was a couple missed fundamental fits early in that first possession but I think I think they really settled in kind of after that first surge I thought they played well. So there you kind of get a thought their ma's missed assignments if you didn't pick up on that so which I thought was kind of interesting because there are a few moments early like throughout earlier parts of the game when the first five guys out there where I thought maybe there was some.

27:56I don't know if it was miss but because they certainly know what's going on and I do not but there was at least maybe some confusion or some moments where they just got flat beat on the right side of the offensive line I you know I there are some talk about Ryan Howard and how he performed early in the game and like you need to say like yeah there's like a player to where you go but like it was anything detrimental there were a few moments where. It was the right side of the offensive line that I kind of raised my brow and I was like oh well what happened there because that didn't look very good and it kind of blew some things up but yeah overall I would say it was it was a really solid night a re Johnson didn't get sacked there really wasn't the ton of pressure too many times and this kind of goes back to what you and I've been saying and I understand that it's nickels but it did not look like an offensive line yet that was just going to roll over and die and be the reason why case they can't win for the game. I think that's going to continue on if they're going to be serviceable it will be then now it's getting Taylor morally fully he get all of her Miller fully back and then you and then it's kind of a wash because then you're really only missing John past or and I know that you're tech climusing George Fitzpatrick but he's going to go two years without playing game.

29:20So you're really missing only John past or that has actually played legitimate snaps at case eight so it will be serviceable will be a little bit more of a test the interesting thing though is I think that Washington states better on the interior than on the edges so I think that that probably actually really benefits case eight and a game like this because I thought that all three. Of Charlie Adams doing villa rule and chase Duarte and Keaton Jones at times all all flash on the interior and I thought that villa rule and Adams were the two best offensive lineman that case and period so yeah I thought if you go back and watch like it's it's kind of rare for offensive lineman to stand out but I thought Dylan villa rule had some serious moments where he really flashed. Oh yeah and I think that in a game like this where I think that the strength of the Cooper defense is going to be the interior defensive line I think that that again that affects case eight because the still isn't going to be a game where you got a couple really really good guys coming off the edge they have some capable pass rushers off the edge but I wouldn't say that they are I would call them probably average in terms of fast rush.

30:39Yeah well last thing that I have from Colin Klein here is him talking about every Johnson's night no I think it like I said after the game I think it lined up with what I felt in the moment and what I. I felt talking to him on the sideline like I mean he was seeing everything was 100% with our protection checks on on third down and did a really really good job managing that that part of the game thought his leadership and presence and consistency with the guys around him was really really good through the through the entire course of the game and you know thought there was a level of decisiveness and competitive edge it was there was really great just to see him cut of loosen and then I think that was really good. So that was what he had to say about every Johnson who ends the week as the best QBR in the big 12 as we are going to to fall along with all year just to see how his performance was and there you see it 94.4 now that's the adjusted one based on the opponent if you go with the raw and that's just like hey this is what traditionally if you didn't factor in how good or bad the opponent was it's even better obviously 97.8

31:53which is still the best mark in the big 12 and then the PA a stands for points added above average so that's 8.1 and then the passing number with added is 6.1 which is also a pretty good mark as well. So the QBR thought it was a good night for every Johnson the stats made it look like a good night and I think when you watch it back it comes across as a really good night for him as well and yeah so I just again we're going to we're going to note this all throughout the year with every Johnson and we will have some things to talk about there. Here's just internal control all night like there was nothing that really fooled him or phased him and he was he had his fingerprints a lot of the game even when he was no longer in the game so I mean I thought it was a really really good night and I'm excited for what the offense looks like in a game where they don't score 71 and feel they need to get everybody in the game.

32:59That's also like when you kind of digest a lot of the game and there's been some discourse about you know you wish that you got the receivers a little bit more and but in a game where you score 71 they are some that would get offended if you kept throwing the ball more than 27. You know I thought that they they found a pretty good balance on Saturday in the game like that of you know giving proper attention to the passing game and getting all those guys involved and also all the running backs that you're trying to play in the game I mean like pretty much everybody that you wanted to touch the ball on Saturday as a receiver had a catch you know the outside of linking sure really and you are able to at least get him involved with the two point conversion but then. All the top receivers caught a ball the the four top receivers caught one and then you know Derek Sally had a handful of catches and he's right there poking away at being number five or six on the death chart so like I thought they handled it pretty well and what it have been nice to have kept this thing going and you know they they take a re Johnson out after.

34:10He throws the touchdown to Josh manning and like that's the thing that you just kind of okay you know could you have could you have left him in a little bit longer maybe I guess because let's see Blake Barnett came in and took over a quarterback at seven and a half minutes to play in the third quarter so every Johnson only played the first two and a half quarters of the game against Nichols and I think most team to that. That point still would have probably left him out there like it was only let's see it was 30 it was 29 to three when they are 36 to three excuse me when they took every Johnson out of the game. You would you have liked probably more big plays in the passing game maybe but I think there's something to be said about how efficient the passing game was like there was all eight receivers that caught up all had a play go for 10 yards or more I think that you can live with that and there was two that went for 20 or more. Well you need games where you need bigger plays by the offense yes but they didn't in this game so I mean there's still three explosive passing plays by how that is defined at 15 yards or more so.

36:28Unless it becomes a real. Real negative. And a game where you win by 60 points you're just not going to put the ball in the air super offset well and hey you know at least you weren't Arizona state and doing an onside kick after going up seven nothing to start the game so. I mean true what are we doing we're doing there Kenny. I mean I get case they did the two point conversion thing that feels a little bit different at that point then just starting the game on side kick after already scoring a touchdown have a little bit of mercy here is how the big 12 stacks up after one week with qbr every johnson at the top again as we talk Devon damn peer. Just behind him then jalen reiner with the next best performance a lot of it came because of what he was able to do running the football at key times and bear a box Meyer is there as well just behind him similar type of deal there where again we know that bear a

37:32lot of timely things running the ball but can he do do it throwing this year will maybe find out this weekend when they play Arizona then know if a feeder cutter bully had a big day statistically against Morgan state and then counterwagman is a martial Michael Hawkins JC French and DJ lagway with Drew Mesta maker close out the top 12 and then there's a after will ham and who just misses out on that top 12 there's a substantial drop the bottom three quarterbacks. Julian Lewis Alonza Barnett and Jaden Craig all with qbr's in the 40s everybody else was at least 68 or better. I was told that I was told will I was told will ham and was going to be awesome. Yeah, I know well we'll see how that goes for him but we'll keep monitoring this throughout the throughout the year and again as we know just like pff isn't certainly qbr on ESPN is in the gospel either but I do find it to be a pretty helpful tool and a pretty fair way of assessing how somebody performs because again this is all based on a okay what's the time and situation of certain moments and that's kind of the thing that I think people can lose in the shuffle if you just look at the raw numbers and you go well whatever because people would look at what cutter bully did against Arizona for Arizona state this weekend and say oh well yeah he had he was he was the best whatever well you know

38:59situationally like it's just it's it all kind of is important I think so it gives good context that it'll be good to see what every Johnson looks like against Washington state this weekend who is the next opponent for K state 11 a.m. kick off this Saturday against the cougars from the pack 12 they did play on Sunday and their apple cup rivalry on the road against Washington. What did you make of what you saw from Washington state on Sunday because I think there were a lot of K state fans that took in that game. They were really physical, especially defensively so it will be a little bit more of a test I said earlier I thought that our interior defensive lineman was probably better than their ed drushers offensively though they were a little bit of a train rack and a lot of that kind of came when Tony Freeman their star received a lot of their star receiver went out and he's not expected to play even on Saturday so I expect a lot of quarterback run from Washington state and Caden Pinnock and trying to manage an offense that way because that when Freeman went out that was about the only offense I'm Washington state had was quarterback run and have the threat of the quarterback run and that that's why I think that

40:21Colin Klein talked about how physical the game was because Pinnock took a lot of hits on Sunday and he probably will on Saturday as well and they're doing this on on a little bit of shorter rest so we'll be interesting to see how that goes. Washington also kind of let Washington state hang around a little bit like there were some clear times where Washington could have put the game away and either Jed fish got a little ultra aggressive. Or they ended up making an error of their own because Washington could have put this game away right before the half if they get a yard to score touchdown on Washington state they don't Washington went forward on fourth down a few times and didn't make it nor really come close. I am pretty sure that Washington state didn't convert a third down the entire game and so I lost my two touchdowns like if they do that again.

41:21They were over 12 odds are you're probably getting ran out of the building if you don't convert a third down two games in a row. So it was a weird game I think that Washington state is better than two lane and obviously better than Nichols but I think this is a game that case they can so when relatively comfortably yeah. Over nine on third down for Washington state they did convert their only fourth down attempt so one for ten on conversions last weekend for Washington state. And I think a lot of that comes because they didn't have their best player to kind of bail them out on third down. Yeah also the cougars did not force a turnover against Washington in the game they did not record a sack either over the course of the game so there are a handful of things going against them and only two tackles for loss the entire day for Washington state against Washington who was able to run to the tune of 268 yards on 24 carries which is good for 11.2 yards per attempt so the opportunity is going to be a lot of time.

42:31The opportunity is going to be there once again for case state let's give a final reflection on case stage win over Nichols drew is there anything some sure you've already completed your rewatch that stood out to you that you wanted to highlight or take note of. Yeah I was going to talk about Dylan bill rule he was awesome he was like an all big 12 caliber center on Saturday so I'm excited to see what that looks like against better competition. Charlie Adams really popped in the rewatch but the offensive lineman did and I mean we'd said it in the moment but wow Rodney fields was impressive in a in his case state debut a few things that need to get corrected and I'm going to I even pointed this out right after the game. Nichols had four carries that went for 66 yards and then I think it was the other like 30 plus carries only went for 20 yards total. It's like you got to limit the explosive runs because eventually those will probably come back and bite you against a team that is solid.

43:38I was going to say that's kind of the thing that scares you about Kaden pinnacle being the quarterbacks of Washington state and seeing how they actually used him in the in the run game over the weekend. Yeah especially because some of those fakes as you and I like to say and point out what happens that really fooled the camera man. Yeah when you're at the ball also I just want to point this out on Kaden pinnacle his numbers at UC Davis last year he only had three game or yeah only three games last year at UC Davis. Where he ran for more yards than what he did on Sunday against Washington he had two games with 70 and one game with 99 but he wasn't used like that extreme as a runner at UC Davis. So like there's definitely an uptick in what Washington state has done with them plans to and like you said if there's an injury to their top playmaker we're probably going to see more of it this Saturday. Yeah I think that's probably what does scare you and then I thought I think the defensive line played a lot better for K state than what a lot of people said initially because you got a factor in that nickels was not interested in having a legitimate passing game.

44:50Yeah like they it was get the ball out quick because we even talked about in the post game live. Their season was really bad until in a Rodriguez took over and I think that they were really afraid of getting a hit in a game that they knew that they're probably going to lose anyway. Well yeah exactly and it really came across that way as like a self preservation type of deal concline said it yesterday average time out they clocked at 2.2 seconds for once the ball was snapped to win the quarter back through the football that is very quick and again we pointed it out on Saturday after the game. If you watch the way that those balls are thrown and where they are thrown to it's a lot of just like I'm throwing it and I'm hoping you're there and something can happen. Even the fourth down that they kind of converted but Colin then went on to say that you know the two times it went over that amount one of them was the Darian Whitaker strip sack that they accomplished and you can see watching back like there was some pretty good push and pressure there from K state and there weren't a ton of times where they felt the need to really try to send more the ball back.

45:54So I would agree with that and I'm not overly concerned and I feel better about it after watching and I think that Washington state is going to be more down to be in the fight for this game especially after they've already lost one game this season. I think that you're probably going to see maybe some more opportunities for the quarter back to hold the ball longer in case they'll have the chance to get to the quarterback more so I would say that we do definitely see the first window Gregory sack of the season this weekend. And there's also the added element of even if you don't necessarily get to the quarterback this weekend if you're keeping them contained and you're not letting them escape on scramble you're also doing something right as a defensive end. Yep, exactly the only other thing that I think I really wanted to point out here on on this front because there's you know handful of these and I'll have it all on player grades but actually I have two things one's on special teams and we'll get to that but let's stop over analyzing everything every Johnson does this is getting the Skylar Thompson levels of you're just you're fighting so hard to find some points.

47:09Hard to find something that he did poorly so every Johnson has the code after the game to the first touchdown of the game to drawn tips says yeah actually it was supposed to go I was supposed to go to Garrett Oakley that's we thought he was throwing to and then tips just kind of came out of nowhere and caught it and took it and if you watch the replay yeah I was like me through that ball really hard. It's impressive that drawn tips caught it probably after what we saw last year probably a good thing that your aunt is did get in the way to catch it I don't look you probably would bounce off Garrett Oakley's hands but anyways. Drawing tips gets it right there it catches part of his face mask like it gets right on him quick but he comes down with it's touching on everything and then we have people you know like my cousin who yesterday I was talking to my brother on the phone and my cousins right there and he's like oh well you know that that was that should have been a pick it should have been an interception okay a couple things here number one as some astute truth tellers out there have pointed out the only reason that that defensive player for nickels. The player for nickels might be in position to make an interception is because drawn tips brought him back into the play.

48:14Drawing tips clearly thought that okay he had he had run the route he was supposed to and he starts drifting back towards the middle of the field and where where some of the action is where Garrett Oakley is sitting right there and waiting and so I think there is part of that to take into consideration. And then in addition to that the camera angle that you are seeing I think can also be a little bit misleading here where you think oh yeah that's a pick if it happens. I think if you look at it a little bit closer I don't think it it's as much of a given that it's a pick and I really don't think it would have been so yeah I think that's just people looking for something and of course you know I heard the oh he ran short of the first down marker like I said on Saturday I watched a lot of college football on Saturday. I saw it happen in every 11 o'clock game that I viewed on Saturday a quarterback early in the early in the the set of downs you know first or second and none of them are just fighting for their life to get through there also the first time that it happened and that people were critical of it case it was already up 29 to 3.

49:24So like I don't know I don't think you want your quarterback getting killed up 29 to 3 against an FCS opponent right there just because you you're like oh we should have gotten that I I'd hate to have to get it on second and one right now as the season goes on and you know if you're playing Texas tech in the big 12 championship game okay. Those things are not as much of a given that you're going to be able to get that yard every first down as valuable get it when you have the chance but we have to take some of this into consideration again that's why I I rely on QBR because it will look at that and I think it will say okay on this set it down that can't exactly tell you where guys were position everything but. You know if you have a guy that on first in 10 runs for nine yards it's not going to ding you for that I think that's what people are trying to do also point point to the time where case they failed to convert after one of those situations on Saturday they were they were pretty close to flawless in a lot of these so that's just kind of the thing that I wanted to make note of their i'm I think this is what I've talked about where if you look hard enough you can find the the Avery deniers and I'd say borderline haters out there.

50:34They're trying to tear down what he is again he hasn't been perfect he is cause some of the problems for case date but those have come because of other factors that I don't think I should be squarely put on him so yeah I would just tell everybody to think through this a little bit more don't let your the rage that you want to have for shortcomings in the past be tossed on to what has gone on currently and that's why I say. It feels very Skylar Thompson issue we heard you know in 2019 and then 2021 some everybody the body language doctors came out they wanted to find their different ways to they kind of get on people so that is the thing that I would say there then on the special teams front i think you know there are some questions about the the kicks out of bounds. The one that Simon McClanon had I have no problem with I don't think that's something you need to worry about too much he looked like a much better player on Saturday. It was clear to me that they were trying to do something in in that moment because they had already kicked off a handful of times nickels was clearly not going to return any of the kicks in the game and so I think that they were just trying to see okay can we get this thing put into a position where they have to try to return one or maybe the ball does something weird and they don't.
