Luis Severino throws a complete-game four-hitter, shuts out the Marlins 4-0.

Severino (8-6) struck out eight and walked one in a brilliant performance, after losing his previous three starts, but he was in control against the Marlins the whole way today. Severino's only other complete game in the majors was a five-hit shutout for the New York Yankees at Houston in May 2018. 

Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso homered for the Mets, who scored once in each of the first four innings. Mark Vientos had an RBI double, and Jesse Winker added an RBI single. 

Max Meyer (2-2) allowed four runs and six hits in four innings. He has a 7.99 ERA in 23 1/3 innings since being recalled from the minors on July 27. The former #3 overall draft pick has given up seven home runs in his last five starts. 

Miami has dropped six of eight. The Marlins and Mets wrap up this three-game series tomorrow in New York. 

Valente Bellozo will pitch for the Marlins. First pitch is set for 12:05pm ET.
