Daily Wire Immigration reporter Jenny Tehrer joins us now to discuss. So Jenny, President Trump wants to alter this long time policy. First, can you describe what this policy is and what Mamdani wants to challenge here? The Trump administration is looking to expand the definition of what is known as a public charge. So these are green card applicants or visa applicants who immigration officers, deem unlikely to quote be self-sufficient and actually more likely to be dependent on taxpayer-funded government benefits. So this new expansion of the rule will go into effect Friday adding more public benefits to the list that include health care and food assistance. They're also broadening the definition of those deemed as public charges. And what they're saying is that immigration officers can determine that someone is a public charge based on any means tested public benefits.

So a lot of questions from immigration advocates and lawyers about what this really means they're concerned that the definition is too broad and will mean that a lot of people will be swept up under this. And is the idea that people would be more likely deported if they are deemed to be a public charge? Yes, that's exactly why Mamdani is taking action here. Now he is unsurprisingly doing this. He's a sanctuary city mayor. He's a democratic socialist. But he did express during a press conference on Monday this exact thing that the Trump administration is likely to deport more people because this definition is being used. And he also claimed that up to four million people would be affected by this. And went so far as to say that people could die in his own words as a result of losing their health care listen here.

And the rule cannot be overstated. It is estimated that up to four million people from across the country could unenroll from their health care alone, including 1.8 million children. None of this is abstract. People could die. We should know that Mamdani is not the only one suing to stop this. New York Democratic Attorney General, Latisha James also filed a separate legal challenge with 21 other democratic written states against these changes. They don't just want a temporary pause from a judge. They want this completely scrapped. Now, before you go, we also have an update on the Ilhan Omar investigation for a long time. We weren't. We didn't have any real confirmation that the investigation even existed. Now we do. What do we know? Yeah, so over the weekend, Trump's borders are Tom Homan broke a bombshell on Fox News that ice has opened an investigation into the Somali-born Congresswoman over her alleged immigration fraud over claims that she married her brother in order for him to obtain a green card.

We previously learned that the Justice Department had its own investigation into these allegations. And Omar herself has denied any allegations of wrongdoing here. All right, so with ice now investigating this could Omar, you know, actually be deported if she's indeed found to have committed immigration fraud. Yeah, so it's a long and complicated journey to deportation in these cases because the Trump administration would first have to denaturalize her, meaning that they would strip her of her American citizenship by proving that she lied in order to obtain citizenship. The feds have yet to bring a denaturalization case against the Congresswoman, but I think given the expansion of this to a Homeland Security Investigations investigation, there are a branch of ice, this seems to be a rush to get something on her to build the case. All right, well definitely something to keep watching. Jenny, thanks for reporting. Thank you. Now, cheaper beef certainly sounds good, but here's the catch when that meat reaches grocery store shelves. You may have no way of knowing it came from another country. That's something worth paying attention to. It's also why we're such fans of our partner's good ranchers. I know I really appreciate knowing exactly where the food I'm consuming comes from. The heads of America's top AI companies spent the weekend asking the federal government to slow them down. Here with more is Wired Inhost, Cabot Phillips, so Cabot we spent yesterday talking about these calls for regulation on the federal side. Trump has responded now. What did he respond? Yeah, President Trump had quite a bit to say on this topic, but overarching takeaways that he wants to be the AI president that he was not a fan of new regulation. He wrote a number of truth social posts on Monday and one of them he said quote, the only control or guardrails that AI needs is a strong and smart, high IQ president, and the USA has that in spades. He then singled out andthropic CEO Dario Amade by name saying that his administration had already stopped quote AI people from doing bad things like Dario, who is now pretending to be a perfect little angel. We called on reference to Amade's Saturday essay titled we must pace the frontier recalled for a global slowdown of AI over fears again that the technology might not be safe.

Trump called this whole idea a quote hoax. He actually compared it to the Russia hoax of collusion during his 2016 race, so president calling it a hoax. And then he questioned why these trillion dollar AI companies are demanding regulation that would ultimately he says drive them into bankruptcy. And he said, I'm not noting the spy would president Trump says this widespread skepticism or outright fear of AI and these calls for regulation are pretty widespread in the industry Elon Musk, open AI Sam Altman and again the CEO of Google deep mind all publicly agreed with Amade's assessment to some extent. Now the president keeps bringing up China's role as influencing his decision how big of a role does Beijing have here. Yeah, that has been the president Trump's main concern throughout the AI race. China has trail the US and AI development for years according to most experts mostly thanks to export controls that kept Beijing away from the most advanced AI chips in the US. But that gap might be closing fast deep seek which is had quartered in China stunned the industry by offering a model that offered nearly identical performance to top American models at a fraction of the price and computing power.

Then companies like Ali Baba, Minimax and moonshot have all made significant advances in AI as well to the point where there are serious questions about how they actually got there just last week the NSA accused Chinese AI firms of quote industrial scale theft from American companies, including training their own models on the outputs of US models. And China does hold some real structural advantages that make it hard to take our foot off the gas when it comes to AI and the White House has been very big on this. They have a near monopoly on the rare earth supply chain and they generate more than double the electricity that the US does and those are two crucial components when it comes to AI development and having AI data centers that can run at scale. President Xi and President Trump are set to meet in Washington in two weeks. This is likely going to be a big topic of discussion but more broadly a lot of folks say it's hard to make a deal with China on AI because Beijing can say one thing whether they actually follow through is a whole different topic. Now there's a major political side to this of course and Democrats are seeing an opportunity here with the populist sort of anti AI movement. What are we hearing from Democrats?

Yeah, this is going to be huge in the midterms and beyond top Democrats clearly want AI skepticism to be a key part of their agenda moving forward. They think this is going to be a winning issue with voters. The New York Times obtained a partial transcript of a closed door man hadn't fundraiser hosted by former president Barack Obama and minority leader Hakeem Jeffries ahead of the midterms. President Obama called for a quote very public conversation within the Democratic Party about developing a framework for regulating AI should they win back the house. He said the technology is quote moving very fast in private hands and that if Democrats don't get on top of it quote it can be dangerous. He didn't really offer up much in terms of specifics but Democrats have already started moving against AI development. New York Democrat governor Kathy Hoke will remember signed into law a bill barring construction of new AI data centers for the foreseeable future and then send a Bernie Sanders is working with Steve Bannon and Republican strategist and top AI researchers to also restrict AI development. Now the vice president had an interesting take on you know why these CEOs he says are begging to be regulated. What exactly is the point J.D. Vance is making.

Yeah, vice president Vance spoke at joint based Andrews Monday and expressed skepticism not just of the AI humorism but also of the inventions of people like Altman and Omadeh. You know it's something that we're concerned by but we want to make sure that we we actually regulate smartly and we're we're thoughtful about the risk here so there are obviously risks to AI there are some benefits to AI. I have to say just personally I feel a little bit weird about the fact that you have so many frontier AI tech companies kind of coming to the government and begging the government to regulate them it feels a little bit to me like a bit of a Trojan horse so I think we just have to be careful about this. So again, as we mentioned on the show yesterday a lot of people are skeptical of why these AI leaders are coming forward now and more importantly what their motives are so a lot to keep an eye on in the coming weeks and months ahead of the midterms. Right and it's clear that this debate is far from over cabinet. Thanks so much for reporting absolutely. Updates to the investigation into Hayden Panatier's death and the reported racially charged lynching in Mississippi are making headlines.

Here with more is that so criminal host Lyndon Blake. So Lyndon there have been a few big stories about crimes just in the past few days but the one getting the most headlines right now is Hayden Panatier. We recently learned her cause of death. What do we know now? Well, this is coming from reports so the official talks all to your port is not been completed. It could take up to 12 weeks. This is sources at TMZ is citing that is saying that she died from one pill that was laced with fentanyl. We all know fentanyl is 50 times more deadly. It is one of those things where drug dealers are lacing it. It's cheaper and you can't tell if what you're taking is laced or not. So the investigation is saying that Hayden had this longtime drug dealer right out of Los Angeles and that was a person that was allegedly providing her with these black market prescription drugs including oxycodone. So TMZ is reporting that the DEA and Los Angeles is now actively piecing together the relationship between Hayden and this longtime drug dealer attempting to trace this fatal pill that was allegedly laced with fentanyl back to the drug dealer.

And if you remember this happened to Mac Miller several years ago now and a drug dealer was actually convicted in his death because the drug dealer was supplying Mac Miller with pills several of them laced with fentanyl. So it's something to look as this toxicology report comes out and we'll see what the DEA and Los Angeles comes up with. But what I've done interesting about this case is according to people that were there with Hayden at this place in South Carolina people like Brian Hickerson who was her ex boyfriend on again off again they had an abusive relationship. He claims that he gave the actress Narcan Narcan is that no spray that helps with overdose it is very reliable only fails about five percent of the time made specifically for fentanyl overdose. I mean that is how this came about in this case and arcane allegedly didn't help her. So Hickerson is testifying that he gave her the Narcan and that she didn't respond to it. Yes, and it was him and his brother also handed over the bag of drugs to the officers that responded to the scene.

Brian Hickerson who was with her in South Carolina will also his brother Zach was with Hayden Pantier at the time as well. And I should note that both Zach and Brian were handcuffed recently after some bar altercation and a Buffalo Wild Wings in Greenville South Carolina. Zach ultimately was charged. It's really conduct Brian was later released. Before we let you go we also had a revelation in this Tasia fortune case a really tragic case that has been racially charged at least by the media reports. There wasn't a rest made. What have we learned about that case yet or mine everyone about this story Tasia for sure she was between on your soul. Another for she was found hanging from a tree back in August outside of Jackson Mississippi and this immediately made head made headlines as this black woman was hanging from a tree and a lot of media rushed to the was this lynching and those racial narratives like you mentioned. But now there's been a rest and it's 51 year old at Jarquets rat live and he was arrested on suspicion of murder after the medical examiner ruled this as a homicide.

Now this gave Tasia's mother a little bit of validation of her theories from the beginning she immediately said and talking to media that her daughter would never kill herself again she was a mother of four. Now Jarquets rat live he is a 51 year old black man and he is known to have an association with Tasia but the police will not elaborate on their relationship. So there's still a lot of unanswered questions without this arrest has been made hopefully get closure to this tragedy. Well tragic case but like you said hopefully some closure for her family. Every significant movement in history started with protesting. No, of course. Uncle Tom. This is our generation civil rights. I have no idea what the protest is about. Bingo. Given the current climate should have figured as polarizing as place sounders even be allowed on campus. Okay, you hear me okay. Don't this is a close personal friend of chance with Freeman. This is a decision I cannot find. Islam will conquer the West. Samoenikum. Are we paying attention? They've taken over the building. They're downstairs and they've blocked the doors.
