Man Killed by Dog, Owner on Trial

On March 27, an 84-year-old pensioner named John McColle died from injuries after an ex-elle

bully dog attacked him on a driveway in Warrington, Cheshire on February 24, 2025.

The dog, named Toretto, owned by 31-year-old Sean Garner, savaged McColle around 6 p.m.,

leading armed police to shoot at 10 times to stop the assault.

A second ex-elle bully on the property was also put down at the scene.

Toretto Liverpool crowned court he had locked Toretto in a shed with a latch and chain

before leaving home that day.

He insisted the dog had never shown aggression and that he took steps to keep both dogs

under control.

However, tests later revealed the dogs had not been fed, leaving their stomachs empty

except for remains from the victim.

Bystanders tried to intervene with tools like broomsticks and golf clubs but couldn't

pull the dog off McColle who suffered horrific wounds described.

By officers as the worst they'd seen, McColle passed away in hospital about a month

later, highlighting the dangers of these powerful breeds.

Prosecutors argued Toretto was loose on the patio, not secured, and points of parts of McColle's

face found in the dog's stomach during a post-mortem.

Garner emits possessing the two ex-elle bullies without required exemption certificates

banned since December 2023, but denies the dog was.
