Las Vegas wakes up with Joanna and Sean.
Here's what you missed on sunny mornings.
Sunday, one of six point five, it's Joanna and Sean. Thank you so much for waking up with us.
If you didn't know, Sean and I are both parents to two children and this type of stuff always comes
up so quick at the beginning of the year. It's like January flies by, February flies by,
and now we got to figure out what we're doing for spring break.
Yeah, well, because the kids are going to be home for like a week without school and how do you
keep them entertained? How do you do that without breaking the bank?
What do you do with them? Yeah, exactly. 702, 796, 1065, Amanda, thanks for being the first one
through on the lines here this morning. What's your plan for spring break? What do you have going
on that's going to save you some money? I am so budget-friendly that I do not want to pay another
dime. So I am setting up my backyard as a little water park. Okay, backyard water park.
What does that entail? I have some extra tarps in the shed. So I'll just spread them out on the
just spread them out, you know, get a hose running with some Dawn dish soap,
instant slip and slide. Dawn's the way to go, too. That's the soap I think. That's the best
working soap for your backyard slip and slide. Yep, not being paid by an anticipated,
but it is the best soap. That's awesome. And then how many kids do you have, Lily?
I have three. Ooh, three. Okay, so they love this kind of stuff that I'm sure.
Oh, yeah, we've been doing it. We do it every year, really. Yeah, that's fun. My kids are,
I have a set of 12-year-old twins and then an 11-year-old daughter. And yeah, we've been doing it
for the past three years. Oh, that's pretty cool, too. You're going to have to start charging
admission for the neighbors to come over and start using this at this point. They bring drinks.
That's acceptable payment as well. They're turned up there. That's awesome, Lily. Thanks for
the idea. Yeah, a lot of people can get creative with just fun stuff doing the backyard. Great
suggestion. Yeah, no problem. Yeah, thank you, Amanda. I guess never underestimate the power of
what you can accomplish in your backyard with an inflatable pool and a little creativity, you know?
I feel like I had a flashback to doing a lot of that when I was younger. Yeah.
I remember getting the blow up pools and doing all that stuff and having the time of my life.
Don't underestimate budget-friendly stuff to do in your very own home. It lasts forever
with children. Right, there's core memories right there. We have a sunny story of the day here
coming up next. Joanna, what's happening? Yeah, a great story about a group of local students
that did something pretty special for each other. And it might even inspire you this morning
to check in on someone. I'll tell you why coming up next in today's sunny story of the day.
Every day, we bring you some feel-good news from right here in the valley. What's going on,
Joanna? Well, you know, it's really inspiring to me, Sean, when students step up and look out
for each other. Oh, yeah. You know, and that's exactly what happened recently at Shaparelle High
School. So a group of students, along with some teachers and some community members, they all got
together this week for a big open conversation about something that truly matters to everyone,
mental health. Oh, I've got to see that the younger generation embraces this so much.
Exactly. Now, what I think makes this extra special is that the students were the ones who
were actually leading the discussion. They weren't listening to teachers or parents. No, they were
the ones talking and sharing about what they're seeing, what their friends are going through,
and why checking in on each other really matters these days. You know, when we were in school,
if you had brought up your mental health, it would, oh, what do you, you would not have heard
at the end of it? What? That's all you would have heard. It's exactly true, unfortunately,
but times have changed. And something else I think is really cool about this is that the
adults that were in the room and part of the discussion, they weren't there to give advice.
They were there to listen and to be the soundboard and to understand and to ask the question,
okay, I'm hearing you now. How can I help? Which I think just makes this such an open
environment for kids to be honest and to know that the adults in the room trust them. That's so big.
Yep. And at the end of the day, I think the message was clear to everyone. No one has to navigate
mental health struggles alone. That's in a very important reminder, I think, for everybody this
morning. So if you want to read more about this incredible initiative and hopefully it's going
to find its way to your kid's school, maybe two, read more right now, sunny1065.com is where you
can find the story. Click on sunny mornings and that's your sunny story of the day. Now, Brian's
been on hold because he called in this morning because something is making him smile. Brian,
good morning. Tell us what's going on. All right. So my son, we just brought him in for his first
haircut and he survived. So I think that's a big deal. We started to cry a little bit at one
point, but for the most part, it was great. And now he's got a nice new handsome haircut,
so I was really happy. That first haircut is always a little bit hairy, isn't it? Literally.
Congrats on having the fresh faced kid in the house of the brand new haircut. That's got to
feel pretty good. Thank you. Oh, I love that.
sunny1065. Good morning. It's Joanna and Sean. And our favorite month is here and going strong.
Women's history month and all month long. We are so excited to introduce you to the voices of
incredible women in our community doing incredible things here in Southern Nevada.
So this is year six of our women who shine program such an amazing time for us to get to just
know people in our community and feature the great things that they're doing and how they're
helping people and moving businesses forward and inspiring others. And we are joined by Yolanda
Dre this morning. She's the owner of Cafe on the strip and the cosmic cat claw arcade Yolanda.
Thank you so much for hanging out with us this morning. Hello. Thank you for having me.
Well, we're so excited to talk with you and learn a little bit more about you. And we'd love
for you to just kind of give us a little preview into your background. You know,
where are you from? How did you get to Southern Nevada? And how did you become a business owner
here in our community? Well, I'm from New Jersey and it up in Vegas about 10 years ago. Wow,
10 years. Okay. I feel like that 10 years. Then you're kind of like a local. Yeah. So then at that
point, when did you realize you're like, you know what? I really wanted I want to do something.
I really want to, you know, plant some roots here, start a business. How did that all come to be?
Because these are two really fun, unique businesses here in town. So I've been a stay-at-home mom
for about 10 years now. And I realized, you know, I want to do something else. I want to get out
there. I want to meet new people. I want to have a career. Something that make my children proud.
You know, and it's been a journey. I've been having a lot of fun. If you want to tell us,
I would love to know more about I know Cafe on the Strip and the Cosmic Claw Arcade or the two
businesses that you run here. If you want to tell us a little bit about both of those. So Cosmic
Claw Arcade is a Claw Arcade. It's by Roald Ranch. It's super fun. We have tons of toys. We have
LaBoubou's. We have Funko Pops. We really have a lot of everything. And it's for everyone. It's
for adults. It's for couples. It's for kids. Yep. And it's just super, super fun. It's where I had
Brock's birthday. So Sean and I both got to have a lot of fun there too. Really good blesses
in there. So definitely check out Cosmic Claw Arcade. And what about Cafe on the Strip? Because
that is a pretty unique business as well. Yes. So we are basically a moving cafe
on the Strip. And we have tea. We have desserts. We have scone sandwiches. We have it. It's actually
a guided tour as well. You learn a lot of facts about Vegas. Yeah. Sean saw some of the photos
that I posted. Yeah. And he was like, this is like very like Bridgerton. Yeah. Bridgerton
on a bus. Yeah. Like tea and crumpets and a cool tour as well. He's like, side me up. Yeah,
I'm there. Yeah. Where can people get more information about both of your businesses? You want
to send them to your website, your social. Cosmic Cat definitely our social. We have lots of
videos, lots of pictures, a lot of information on there. And for a cafe in the Strip, it's
caffeine the Strip.com. We have prices. Everything that's included. Awesome. That's amazing. Yolanda
Dre. Thank you for giving us a little bit more background and a little preview into your world
is busy being a busy working mom business owner here in our community. We appreciate your time.
Oh, thank you so much guys. Thank you for having me.
It is a daily dose of carefully curated Hollywood entertainment. It's like a charcootery
of entertainment. What's going on? I love the way that you just said that. Intro that
every single day like that. I love it. I love it. All right. Well, first up, Chelsea Hamler.
She's officially off the market. Get this. She just hard-launched her new relationship on
Instagram with a very attractive mystery man. And she met him kind of in the most awesome way
right here in Las Vegas when she borrowed $1,000 from him at a blackjack table.
I mean, she has her residence here at the Cosmo, right? I know Chelsea's not hurting for money, but
she found herself in the high roller room. You know, joking around. She asked the guy to
borrow $1,000. He let her. And now they've been traveling together everywhere from Turkey to Dubai
to even Antarctica. And yeah, they look amazing together. So love can be found right here in Las Vegas.
You always keep $1,000 in pocket change on you just in case. That's a really good reminder. Yes.
All right. Let's talk about Betty Blanco. I know a lot of us have different feelings about
this guy, right? I like him very much as a person and a producer. This is cool, right? But he is
clearing the air kind of literally here. You know, a lot of people on the internet
roasted him for having very dirty feet on an episode of a podcast. I don't know if you saw
that, but he was up on a couch. He was lounging on a conversation and his feet were like pitch black.
Yeah. I know. I like Betty, but he strikes me as a kind of guy that's barefoot everywhere he goes.
Anyone declared things up a little bit and said, you know what? I actually smell amazing.
And even if I don't shower every day, I'm good. Yeah. All right. Even if I don't. All right.
But get this at this Ed Sheeran backed him up. He said, you know what? Betty actually is the
best smelling person I know. So I mean, you know what? Ed Sheeran, he doesn't look like a liar to me.
No, no, never, I've never mistake Ed for a liar. There you go. And finally this morning,
a rare sighting of actress Catherine Highgold. I mean, she was around everywhere for a while,
but she just made her first public appearance in two years. She actually stepped out for a charity event.
She showed up looking amazing in the photos that I saw, you know. But people are wondering,
what's going on with Catherine? Why isn't she out and about in the public guy anymore? So a little
bit of mystery behind there. I'm going to try to uncover it for everybody, you know, in the few
next few weeks. I enjoy her in movies. So hopefully she's got something coming out.
And Grey's Anatomy. She was good in that show. Yeah. I like her as an actress as well. So we,
of course, hope nothing but the best for Catherine Highgold. And that's your entertainment report
for this morning of Joe Edowyer in the know.
And Sean, thank you for waking up with us. I really can't believe it. Sean, that spring break
is literally next week. It came up so fast. Yeah. And I know all of us are trying to figure out
ways to keep our kids entertained, like let alone ourselves. But you know, you got kids in the house
for a week. It's like, A, how do we keep them entertained and B? How do we do that cheaply, I guess?
Right. So 72, 79, 61065. If you want to maybe share a spring break, non-bank breaking tip,
because yeah, like you said, we're all trying to save some money. So before we take some more
calls on this, Sean, you, your daughter, how is she six, right? So you've experienced the spring
break thing before, you know, is there any tip or hack or, you know, money saving thing that you
do during this time, these type of times? It's a whole lot of arts and crafts, honestly. It's a
you know, construction paper and glue and, you know, colored pencils and things like that. We
also use, how has a little like kitchen science book with little experiments she can do stuff
that you can use that's, you know, like dish soap and tin foil and, you know, any stuff you can
find around the kitchen, that keeps her highly entertained as well. Okay, I love that. And then
keeps you guys busy having to clean up the pantry after I'm sure. But I love that. All right,
Sarah, she's been on hold. I know she has a great idea for parents out there this morning.
Good morning, Sarah. Tell us your spring break, you know, savings tip, you know, to keep kids busy.
Well, you know, it would depend on the age of your kids. But if you have some that are, you know,
a little bit younger, it's always fun to, you know, get some crafty things, get a little messy.
Like last year we made, we took pine cones and smeared them with peanut butter and rolled them
in the bird's feed and then hung them up and then the kids get to watch, you know, the birds come
and eat their little homemade bird feeders. Or I gave them a Reese's peanut butter cup of full
size and a toothpick. And I told all the kids they had to draw their own face like carving into the
cup. Oh wow. And then we got to see what everybody's cup looks like, what they think their face looks like.
Those are good. Hey, I like that. He's just like the bird feeder idea. It's so simple. But like,
it's so much fun because now every time the kids go in the backyard, they can like check in on it.
And I really love that idea. Yeah, it's, you know, it's getting messy, but sometimes you got to
get messy to have a little fun. Nothing wrong with that. Oh, you're absolutely right. And there's,
I can't tell you, with the amount of pine cones, my daughter saves every single day for what,
I don't know why she collects them. We got a thousand pine cones. Time to start putting these
pine cones to use. Right. Absolutely. That's a good thing to do. And then they'll be back outside too.
Exactly. And you're saving money. So win, win for everybody. Thank you for that suggestion, Farah.
Absolutely. You guys have a great day. Oh, you too, Farah. I'm telling you, Joe, those,
those peanut butter cups, if we try to do that in my house, they won't survive for the kids.
The carves of faces into them. I'll destroy the whole thing. Yeah. Who wants that type of,
you know, distraction? You're trying to save money and save your diet. You don't need that too.
Oh my gosh. Coming up next, our sunny story of the day. Joanna, what's going on?
Oh, got a great story today about a group of local students who just did something pretty
special for each other. And it might even inspire you to check in on someone today as well.
We'll tell you why coming up next in today's sunny story of the day. Stick around.
The stories you can't believe are real, but they totally are. It's the sunny funny sunny
one or six point five. It's Joanna and Sean time for a little laughter to break up your week.
Got your sunny funny today. This guy, you may as well give this suit a medal for just the most
dedicated workout routine I think I've ever seen here. This guy decided to run a 5K,
Joanna, doing an 11 hour flight. Excuse me, a 5K on an airplane? No.
Well, look, and here's the thing, before you like think it was him jogging up and down the aisles,
which is what you would probably think of immediately. That's not what he did. He did the entire run
inside the airplane bathroom. Okay, those things I can I barely fit in like just to stand there,
to sit there. That makes it even more impressive, right? He filmed to himself jogging in tight
little circles, just stepping on and off the toilet like it was a workout bench. Gross.
And somehow this guy logged five and a half kilometers and under an hour.
Okay, but was he literally in the bathroom for an hour? That's insane. Yes, yes. Now the video has got
like over a million views. And like you, most people have the same reaction. They're like,
how dare you? I don't want your feet on the toilet area. That and you're just going to
block up the toilet for an hour, right? Yeah, no, that can ease me band. Like, imagine waiting for,
you know, the bathroom for an hour. There's some dude in their train for a marathon. No, I want to throw
a fit. Comments were great. Someone said, this guy is going to be the reason that there is a
no running sign in the laboratory. And I think my favorite was this guy has officially joined the
miles in the sky club. I like that too. I mean, listen, we can all laugh about it, but he does
sound like the worst person of all time for for a short, like, dedication is one thing, but maybe let
the airplane bathroom just be a bathroom, right? Yeah, like enjoy your 11 hours, like watch a movie,
you know, listen to music, go to sleep, don't run a 5k. That is your sunny, funny. Come
out up in just a little bit. We got some Jonas brothers tickets for you. That's right. We talk
back for tickets. Actually, going to be the next prize for a night out with Joanna and Sean. You
can join us at the Jonas brothers in upgraded seats and a keyword is coming your way at 940 for
your chance to win. Sunny model six point five. Sunny, when I was explaining five, it's Joanna
and Sean. And we are so excited to bring back a night out with Joanna and Sean this time to
the Jonas brothers to sit in upgraded seats opening night of their little mini residency that
they're going to have over at Dolby live at Park MGM. Now we try to do this a couple times a year
