Las Vegas wakes up with Joanna and Sean.
Here's what you missed on sunny mornings.
Let's hear the biggest mistakes you have made on St. Patrick's Day.
It's sunny when a 6.5 Las Vegas is best variety of the 80s, 90s, and today.
Sean here, good morning, who's this?
Hi, this is Rachel.
Rachel, I look, we all make mistakes.
What was your biggest St. Patrick's Day mistake?
Probably the dumbest one was I had been, you know, out with friends and everything.
And at this time, I lived somewhere where I could just like walk home and whatever.
Right.
Well, I didn't anymore.
And that's what I forgot when I was drunk.
I had moved and I walked to my old apartment with trying to use my new apartment key to get
into my old apartment and probably scared the new resident have to death.
Rachel, you're lucky.
You're alive.
I know.
I got super lucky.
I didn't call the police or anything.
They just kind of came to the door.
I could fuse.
And that was when I realized like, oh, this is not where I live anymore.
That could have turned out so much work.
That's a story right there.
Thank you, Rachel.
I got to hear more of those 702, 796, 1065 if you partied a little too hard.
Tell me what happened in the aftermath coming up next for a sunny story of day.
You might not have seen it, but there was a locally Vegas local on the Oscars on Sunday
night.
I'll tell you all about it next.
Good vibes.
Good people and good news.
Time for your sunny story of the day.
We had a local on the Oscars on Sunday night.
I just thought this was a really cool success story right out of Las Vegas.
Her name was Bernie Chavez.
She actually went to UNLV.
She said she didn't even know what she wanted to do with her life, started taking film
classes, ended up falling in love with making documentaries and started working on one
called Come See Me in the Good Light.
It was about dealing with cancer, but not super sad.
It was more about love and humor and appreciating life, or it premiered at Sundance, and then
it got nominated for an Oscar and she was at the show on Sunday night.
I mean, she didn't end up winning, but still to go from, I don't know what I'm doing at
UNLV to being part of an, you know, an Oscar-nominated film, pretty incredible.
And she's saying Vegas is where she really figured out who she is, and I think that's
pretty cool for a local story.
It's one of those you never know where you're going to end up kind of stories, right?
So if you don't know where you're going to end up, you might end up at the Oscars.
And that is your sunny story of the day.
Sunny 106.5
Sunny 106.5, good morning, it's Joanna and Sean.
And I think this is becoming what our favorite part of the morning, where we get to have incredible
guests coming into our studio during Women's History Month, where we get to shine the spotlight
on the incredible work that they're doing right here in Southern Nevada.
So it's hard to believe that it's the sixth year now of Women Who Shine.
But we get to talk to so many great people who are just not only making amazing strides
in the community, but also in the industries in which they work.
And this morning we are welcoming into the studio, Jamie Hampson.
She is the GM at Fletcher Jones Mercedes.
Welcome to the show.
Thank you for having me.
Well, we're excited to talk with you.
So tell us, how long have you been here in Southern Nevada?
And what got you to become the general manager at Fletcher Jones Mercedes?
Have you been in that world for a while?
Tell us a little bit about your background.
Sure.
So I've been in the Las Vegas area for just that one year.
Oh, so you know to the area, but definitely not new to the business.
I have been in automotive industry my entire adult life.
I started in college answering phones at a dealership and never left all these years later.
Certainly came to Las Vegas for the position at Fletcher Jones and oversee the Mercedes dealerships
on a Sahara as well as Mercedes-Benz of Henderson.
Oh, wow.
That is awesome.
Now, I know obviously very competitive world can be, but we want to know a little bit maybe
about the advice that you wish you would have received on the first day of your career
starting out in that world.
What is something maybe that you wish you would have been told to kind of inspire your
journey?
What comes to mind is ask for the seat before you're ready.
I think there's a lot of people specifically women that are kind of waiting until it's
perfect or they know everything before they feel like they're in a position to do more.
Sure.
I had read a statistic one time where men would ask for a position or apply when they
were 60% ready, but women wait until they feel like they're 100% ready.
Jamie, I'm curious.
You've said you've been here for about a year now.
What have you come to love the most about the community here in Las Vegas?
You know, someone that is not from here had only come for fun and work.
I don't know what my expectation really was, but we have really just found a community.
I think that it's such a big city with a small circle.
I think I've been pleasantly surprised, but it's been really easy to meet people business-wise.
I mean, you really cool people with all kinds of different backgrounds that outdoors.
We moved from Colorado, and so I was expecting hiking and biking to be pretty slim and
none.
You get all of that.
Yes.
If people wanted to check out your dealership and learn more about Fletcher Jones Mercedes,
you want to give the website?
Sure.
Fletcher Jones Nevada.com.
We have a dealership out in Henderson, Mercedes Benz of Henderson, and then Fletcher Jones
imports on Sarah.
Awesome.
Well, thank you very much for being a part of our annual Women Who Shined a Program.
We appreciate your words this morning.
Thank you for having me.
Now, I don't really party anymore on St. Patrick's Day.
I've learned my lesson.
I can't hang.
It's sunny when it was 6.5.
Sean here, how's your learn your lesson?
Tell me about that time you partied a little too hard on St. Patrick's Day.
What went wrong?
Jeff is in North Las Vegas.
What happened to you, man?
So, I left the bar one night, right?
Yeah.
This is a girl that I'm kind of talking to, you know, and she lives, you know, I know
what she lives.
She's not that too far from me on the walk home.
And so, you know how, like, in movies, or, you know, just whatever, people sometimes,
like, take a little towel or something like that and toss it up and, like, yeah, just
a knock their window.
It'll get somebody's attention.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, you were trying that?
Yeah.
So, I wanted to talk to this girl.
And I don't know.
I must say, like, two to three a.m., you know, right after bars closed.
I want to talk to this girl.
And I took up a couple of little febbles and I just gently kind of tossed them up to
her window, you know?
That's okay.
And it is.
I'm waiting in her next stand, or the light goes on in the room.
And all of a sudden, this big dude was talking to this big dude, really, dude, just comes
to the window.
It was just like the yellow and I mean, man, I couldn't, it was the wrong window, dude.
I could not have run faster.
I was just, I was just looking at him.
Yeah.
I would have been booking it too, man.
That is what a nightmare.
I love your attitude, though, Jeff.
You sound like a guy that I actually kind of want to party with.
Thank you for the call.
Sunny with a 6.5.
Come at him next in our sunny story of the day.
We had a Vegas local on the Oscars Sunday and I, I'll tell you who and why they were there
next.
Sunny with a 6.5.

Good morning.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, too, yeah.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, yeah.
Well, thanks for your patience here.
I understand you have a little advice, some wisdom that you'd like to pass on.
Well, I got something to say.
Okay, go for it.
Thank Patrick's Day.
Everyone's favorite drink in holiday.
You got green beer, whiskey, Guinness, you name it.
Oh, yeah.
It brings out all the fun, people.
It's a happy drug.
And the early stages of drinking magic, tips, teeth, tick around for a while and they turn
into the other humans.
I'll leave you a while.
Yeah.
Lady happy drugs.
And it's a part of it.
Something that grind into 50, 50 in the club, which leads me to the reckless drug.
That you want to can't involve into a dumpster.
Yeah.
Doctor, as best as you can.
Because you're likely to spend the night with me.
You are with him.
It's not in jail.
Absolutely.
It's a bite.
We'll all be careful out there.
Anything else you want to say?
We drink in moderation.
Don't drink in drive until you're best to behave yourself.
Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Thank you, Rose.
We will all be on our best behavior.
You heard it from Rose.
You're going to answer to her if you're not on your best behavior today.
