Hey kids, welcome to Junior's for Jesus.
0:03
Go grab your Bibles.
0:04
We're gonna be digging in and learning
0:06
some really exciting stories.
0:10
We're in the final section of messages from heaven
0:13
concerning the minor prophets and our memory verse
0:16
for this week is from Malachi chapter three verse 16.
0:21
then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another
0:24
and the Lord listened and heard them.
0:27
So a book of remembrance was written before him
0:30
for those who feared the Lord
0:31
and who meditate on his name.
0:34
That's Malachi chapter three verse 16.
0:45
through Zachariah, God reminded's rubbable
0:47
the governor of Judah at the time
0:50
of the real reason for the fast progress
0:52
in rebuilding the temple.
0:54
What was that reason?
0:56
Zachariah chapter four verse six.
0:58
So he answered and said to me,
1:00
this is the word of the Lord to the rubbable.
1:03
Not by might nor by power,
1:05
but by my spirit says the Lord of hosts.
1:09
For years after the temple was finished,
1:11
God still sent messages through Zachariah.
1:14
In the first six chapters of his book,
1:16
he tells about eight visions that he had.
1:19
And like Ezekiel's visions,
1:21
many of them used interesting symbols.
1:25
God's people had been brought back from Babylon
1:29
And now God warned them not to become
1:32
like their ancestors had been.
1:34
He had urged their ancestors through his prophets.
1:38
Turn now from their evil ways,
1:40
but they had refused.
1:42
Zachariah chapter one verse four.
1:44
Now God longed to keep this new generation
1:47
from the evil ways of their fathers.
1:50
To help them and us understand the kind of love
1:53
that he has, God said that when anyone hurts us,
1:57
it's like hurting his eye.
2:00
When we get something in our eye, it hurts terribly.
2:03
And when anyone hurts us, God is hurt too.
2:07
Zachariah chapter two verse eight says,
2:09
he who touches you touches the apple of his eye.
2:14
We have already studied Zachariah's vision of Joshua,
2:18
the high priest wearing filthy clothes
2:21
and Satan accusing him.
2:23
Read it again in Zachariah chapter three
2:25
verses one through five.
2:26
Then he showed me Joshua the high priest
2:29
standing before the angel of the Lord.
2:31
And Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him.
2:35
And the Lord said to Satan,
2:36
the Lord rebuke you, Satan.
2:39
The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you.
2:42
Is this not a brand pluck from the fire?
2:45
Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments
2:48
and was standing before the angel.
2:51
Then he answered and spoke to those who stood before him,
2:54
say, take away the filthy garments from him.
2:58
And to him he said, see, I have removed your iniquity from you.
3:02
And I will cloth you with rich robes.
3:05
And I said, let them put a clean turban on his head.
3:09
So they put a clean turban on his head.
3:12
And they put the clothes on him.
3:14
And the angel of the Lord stood by.
3:16
Try to remember what you learned about it previously
3:19
and answer these questions.
3:21
Whom did Joshua represent?
3:25
What do his filthy clothes represent?
3:28
What does removing his filthy clothes represent?
3:32
And what do his new clean clothes represent?
3:36
God also gave Zachariah prophecies about Jesus.
3:40
One of them told what kind of animal he would ride on into Jerusalem.
3:46
Zachariah chapter 9 verse 9.
3:48
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion.
3:51
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem.
3:53
Behold, your king is coming to you.
3:56
He is just and having salvation.
3:59
Lowly and riding on a donkey.
4:01
A cult, the foal of a donkey.
4:04
Other prophecies said that he would be wounded and pierced.
4:08
And when he would die, his followers would feel like sheep
4:13
Zachariah chapter 12 verse 10 and chapter 13 verses 6 and 7.
4:17
All of those prophecies came true.
4:20
Now, let's apply it.
4:22
Jesus hurts when his people hurt.
4:25
But it's impossible for us to hurt like he did on the cross
4:29
when our sins hurt him so much that they killed him.
4:33
He thought he might never see his father again.
4:37
Think about that as you read Zachariah chapter 13 verse 6.
4:41
And one will say to him,
4:42
what are these wounds between your arms?
4:45
Then he will answer those with which I was wounded
4:49
in the house of my friends.
