Today we have an article that's discussing the five key pieces of evidence against Brian coberger. Now how ever since he's been arrested, we have been getting a little bit here, a little bit there about who he was, who his friends were, what he was up to, and some of his behavior in the aftermath of these murders. Well, what is the evidence that has led the investigators to believe that Brian coberger is the man responsible for these murders? Well, let's get to this episode from Fox News and let's see what

3:10Paul Moro has for us. Headline Idaho murders, five key pieces of evidence against Brian coberger. This article was authored by Paul Moro. He is still only the accused and must be considered innocent until proven guilty. But the case against Brian coberger for the Idaho homicides appears strong. There remains much we don't know. And there is much more investigation and evidence to come. But with the recent release of the arrest warrant, affidavit, here's how the prosecution's evidence is stacking up the knife sheath DNA. Currently, this is the only evidence that is direct and not circumstantial. And that is true. Everything we have seen so far is circumstantial. And if we didn't have all of the evidence, the circumstantial evidence that we do have, I would be less in client to believe that coberger might be the guy here. But everything that we have,

4:14the the circumstantial evidence that all leads to something bigger. And all of that circumstantial evidence, that is all built upon. And before you know it, you have an ironclad case, at least that's the hope of the prosecution. In the absence of the knife itself, having a sheath that matches to the same knife that caused the wounds, a fact which will need to be demonstrated, found literally besides the body of one of the victims is going to be tough to refute. And I am 100% on board with that. How are you going to explain this knife sheath in the bed with Kayley and Madison and with your DNA on it? That's going to be a tough sell in the best of times. That would be a tough sell. If you had OJ Simpson's dream team defending you. So I don't know how he's going to get around that one or how his defense team plans on challenging the veracity of that evidence. Yes, as some have proposed, coberger could

5:17contend that someone stole or found his knife aside from being far fetched. This is unlikely to persuade because this hypothetical person's handling of the K bar through gripping sweating and perhaps even shedding his own blood before and during the attacks would have likely have obfuscated any DNA of coburgers. It is significant that the avid david pointedly states that only a single source of male DNA suspect profile was found on the sheath. So they have their work cut out for them, meaning the defense attorneys. I don't know how they're going to explain this. There was no one else's DNA on it. And even if you say, Oh, it was stolen. Well, how do you prove that? How do you prove that your knife was stolen and used in these murders? Now, if it was just the knife in the sheath, I could see you trying to make a logical defense around that. But with everything else that basically puts this dude at the scene of the crime, forget it. And we haven't even talked about yet the fact that he could

6:20have been caught on a router at the king of the king road home or one of the neighbors homes. What if his wife, I connected to it? There's going to be a trace of that. There's going to be a bit of evidence of that. So if that's the case, that's just going to be stronger evidence for the prosecution moving forward. And if the DNA on the knife was extracted from a splatter of coburgers on blood, then even that week defense goes out the window. At this point, the DNA is the linchpin. It is no accident that the problem will cause affidavit, which is written chronologically, concludes with the DNA match to coburgers father. It was at that point that the investigators knew it was time to take the case down. So once they had that match and they were relatively sure of the person they were looking for, well, they moved in. The car videos, no license plate was obtained from the videos. Nonetheless, coburgers car not only matches the car

7:20make and model film near the scene, but it also coincides with the movement of his mobile phone before and after the murders. For instance, there is this sequence that occurs as the car is tracked, leaving the scene and after the coburger phone has apparently been turned off. 448 AM phone goes live again on state highway 95 south of Moscow for 50 to 526 AM phone travel south on route 95 to Genesee, Idaho, then West, then North, back towards Pullman, 525 AM car on video at Washington State University 1300 Johnson Road Pullman in the vicinity of the Suspects home, 527 AM car on video at WSU along stadium way, vicinity of Suspects home, 530 AM phone pings at the coburger home. Could coburger contend that it wasn't his car? Certainly, but why then would it exactly match the movements of his cell phone?

8:23And this is what I've said, all of this other little stuff that might not seem important or might seem mundane on its own. It all adds up to the bigger picture here and that bigger picture is pointing directly at coburger. And now that the task force has the car, it may well yield further forensic evidence, no matter how hard he tried to clean it. Oh, that's a fact. If there's forensic evidence to be found in that car, no matter how much he cleaned it, they're going to find it. They have all kinds of ways of finding old blood and even just a trace amount. Digital phone forensics. Like the car, the pings coburger's phone sent to nearby cell phone towers are more circumstantial than direct, but taken with the movement of his car, this will be tough to refute. Further, what possible reason could coburger give for his phone being in close proximity to the victim's house 12 times in the months leading up to the murders 11 of those late at night. So again, the totality of

9:26what we see here is very damning for Brian coburger. How are you going to explain this? Look, I'm not a lawyer, right? That would require him to identify this person unlikely. Could he contend that he lost his phone or that it was stolen? Sure. But why didn't he report that and cancel it? And if so, how to explain that the phone's activity continued to fit the pattern of his own use, calling family, for instance. So you see all of these little reasons that co burger could use for this not being him and him not being involved. None of them

12:40are sound and none of them are going to convince a jury. Aside from the fact that he would have to explain why in the middle of the night, he was regularly in an area 10 miles from his home. There is this according to a recent interview of Steve Gonsolvus, the father of victim Kayleigh Gonsolvus. Co burger at times was so close to the victim's house his phone was picked up by their Wi-Fi. It's a wrap folks. If that's the case, creepy ass co burger is as good as cooked. The high merit copic cat. The eyewitness much has been made of Dylan Mortensen's delay in calling the police. What has been somewhat overlooked, however, is that her description of his height, physique and bushy eyebrows were all confirmatory as co burger became a suspect. Now I think that of all of their evidence, her looking at co burger here in a mask is probably the weakest evidence they have because how are you going to tell who's who underneath that mask? Sure, you could fit

13:43the description, the same build, the bushy eyebrows, but you can't confirm 100% anyway that that was Brian co burger. If you doubt that, consider this on November 29th, roughly two weeks after the murders, two separate Washington State University campus police officers discovered co burger's car as a match to the Hyundai Alontera, the task force was seeking. They or the task force member would next have looked at the license photo of the car's owner. Now ask yourself, would co burger be in custody if Dylan had described him as five three and heavily overweight, and even if so, would the case be anywhere near as strong? That's a good point, honestly, definitely a good point. And maybe I should reevaluate about this being the weakest part of the evidence. It would just seem to me that in front of a jury, if you can't actually point to somebody in the courtroom and say, definitively, that's the person that it's not going to have as much weight.

14:45But I guess that may be with all of the other factors, it could come into play here. Dylan's description of the suspects path when leaving the house also matches a latent footprint discovered at the scene, important evidence if it's matched to co burger. I mean, a lot of people wear a vans though, like a whole last college campus, I'm guessing a lot of those kids are wearing vans. Just about every pair of shoes I own are vans. You know, I like vans. I've been wearing them since I've been a kid and I just enjoy the way they feel on my feet. They're comfortable. And I like the shoes, but they're very popular. So I don't know how they're going to match that directly to co burger, considering my guess. And this is just a guess here that some of these kids advance themselves. So it might be a little difficult to tie that to co burger unless, of course, when they searched as apartment or rated wherever he was at, he had the shoes on him. Co burgers internet postings without a clear motive, which may never be learned, the prosecution can

15:48introduce co burgers, previous Reddit postings in which he attempted to query criminals on what it felt like to commit crimes, what steps they took to avoid capture, how they prepared, and so on. Including the questions, why did you choose that victim or target over others? And how did you approach your victim or target? Now he's going to say that this was just a project he was working on in school. And under normal circumstances, people who drugged their shoulders and say, yeah, criminologists seems to fit the bill. But again, when you look at the totality of everything we know, all this shit looks more sinister. For their ending summations to a jury, prosecutors, labor to construct a compelling narrative, a story that explains what the accused did and why he did it. Adding co burgers intense interest in criminality and the creepy questions he had previously asked in his Reddit survey suggests a possible motive in the possible absence of one come trial

16:50time. And again, look, you don't need motive to get the conviction. It helps. It certainly does, but you do not need motive. All you need to do is prove that the crime was committed. As noted, there is much more investigation and likely more evidence to come. For instance, the steps co burger took post murder like wearing surgical gloves and hiding his garbage. There will also be a great deal of criminal procedure. And there is also the defense's case, glimpses of what may be gained during the discovery process. But at this writing, the task force appears to have done its job. Now it's over to the prosecution. So that's definitely where it's at now, right? The investigators, their job is to find the suspect, compile all the evidence and then pass that to the prosecutors. Now it's in their court. It's up to Bill Thompson and the other prosecutors on the team to slam this bad boy home and get a conviction. All right, folks, that's going to do it for this
