We mark yet another step closer to the start of the season because we're doing our award show which we do every year and it means we're right there.
You caught me with this one. I was like, Hey man, what do you want to podcast about tomorrow and you're like. I'm like. Is it time for that? Yes, it is. Yeah, do just see season kicks off Wednesday night. All right, let's do it. So it was either going to happen today or Monday or Tuesday of next week unless we're going to do the day of the start of the season. So I got. We'll talk about that later. Yeah. All right. So we got MVP coached the year offensive player, the defense player, the year offensive rookie, the year defensive rookie, the year comeback player of the year. If we have time, we'll throw out the odds for protector of the year. Oh, yeah. Shout out to you right there. And if you're interested, you can get. Braidsmith and DJ glaze for plus 20,000 on the odds there. Good on that. Yeah, I think that's going to work out to you. You're just making a donation. Right. Right. So let's start with the MVP awards where all of these odds are coming courtesy of our friends over at Fandall and the current odds there.
Joe Marino's Josh Allen, which is the overwhelming favorite of plus 550. That's kind of crazy. That's a pretty big gap. I was looking at that. It's more like massive gap. And we have we. It's like the Ram Superbowl odds. It's Josh Allen's MVP odds. Yeah. And we have a lot of people who are going to be lost angelist rounds of. Individual players. Yeah. Joe burrow and Justin Herbert bloat, both at plus 1000. Lamar Jackson Drake made both at plus 1100 Matthew Stafford at plus 1300 along with that press caught. Brock pretty plus 1700 along with Trevor Lawrence Patrick Mahomes Caleb Williams. Jalen hurts the only other player that's better than plus 2000 on the odds for MVP. Who do you like for MVP? Joe. And I. Dude, I might have picked in the last three years to be the MVP. One of the years you'll go to drill burrow and it's going to work on man. The past. He'll have the if he's healthy, he's going to have the best passing stats in the NFL. I feel very comfortable with that.
Like this could be the only guy that forts with 5000 yards 40 touchdowns. If their defense can play at a reasonable level and they go win 11 or 12 games and Joe burrow passes for 5000 yards. And this team goes to the playoffs for the first time in like four years. I think Joe burrow is going to have his case. I didn't pick Joe burrow. I do think Joe burrow is going to put up big volume because he always does right. Yeah. Yeah. Um. I kind of went back and forth on a couple like potential new guys here. Is it is it the time for Caleb Williams or Jordan love or somebody in the NFC North to make a leap. I'm going Drake May. Okay. It just feels like if that team with that division. I don't even think that the win it.
But. If they are able to have double digit win success. I think Drake's going to be a big engine of that again. It feels like once you kind of enter into the conversation. Does get easier. But like the threshold for staying in the conversation is. No. You're there and they're on the voters minds. Right. And it's does Josh Allen have a no brainer season where the bills. I think that's why I think it's not that easy. If you're a player who has a little brainer. When a bunch of games and when 12 or 13 games are a home. See throughout the playoffs, right. Like if that doesn't happen. I think it leaves the door open for. Drake made a put up enough numbers and obviously they trade for a J Brown and they add Romeo Dobbs. You just think the. Even if the efficiency's not the same. He's a dual threat quarterback. I think he's going to have be have his hand a lot of touchdowns for the Patriots.
He's going to have to leave the party with a lot of voters. That I think would work in his favor as well if it was close with the field. Yeah I mean he was number two in MVP voting last year had a case of each number one. They're massively better at receiver. The young offensive lineman are now a year older year two in the scheme. And you've upgraded left guard. Yeah dude the path is pretty clear and and he's now in the conversation as compared to last year. This time last year he was not in any MVP conversation. Consideration. my dark horse pick here is Jordan love at plus 2200. I thought about him. I did too. I know the regular pick these 15 ten odds. Yeah, I like those I like the return on that. Yeah. Well, and so much of these awards, especially MVP and coach of the year. It's a lot about like the expectations for the season and I think looking at a no Josh Jacob situation, you know, I mean, he's been unbelievably efficient the last several seasons and I almost feel like the defined receivers around him might help right with Watson and read back healthy Tucker crafts back golden year to like just all this time so that you can have the raw numbers. Right season. The people understand 100% that yeah. Yeah.
Coach the year. The odds. Kind of two guys out in front of the pack John Harbour and Jesse Minter John Harbour is at plus 650. Jesse Minter is at plus 850. It's the fanski plus 1400 Brian shot and I were plus 1400 kel and more plus 1400 Joe Brady plus 1500 Ben Johnson plus 1500 Robert Sala plus 1600. We'll clean kubiak plus 1700 and Jim Harbour plus 1900. They love giving this award to new new head coaches, right. That's usually the thing and the one the new head coach that I feel like has the biggest opportunity to make a statement is Jesse Minter. That's my pick. I mean, that was a non playoff team last year. That's the big change. I think he can change those two things, right? Like I think it's just going to be really good. I think I'll be back in the playoffs and I think there's questions about the offense, but one thing that's true about like Lamar Jackson. He doesn't like take. He doesn't turn over the ball lot, you know. So I think that I think it. Even if he doesn't have his best statistical season, I think he'll play comp with him on a rebalt of that defense. They're going to win games and the defense is going to be awesome and it's just ripe for the first year coaches and I feel like Jesse Minter. It's low hanging group, but I kind of like it.
I'm going to go with the second year coach in Kalamore. I'm kind of talking about how we kind of have higher expectations for New Orleans than what we've had. I kind of feels like the vibes are good with him and Tyler Shuck and what Shuck showed in the back half of last season. It's not how to chance to stack with that a little bit. I think he's got a good defensive minded coach to kind of help with that side of the football brand and stale. So plus 1400 Kalamore, if you told me the Saints in that division one. Double digit games. Yeah, I believe you right and it's like, okay, is this Tyler Shuck take the leap that we a lot of people want to assume that he's going to if he takes that and they win double digit games. I think he's going to have a really strong resume for it, especially considering what the last five years or so has been like for New Orleans. Yeah, I think it's a great pick. I forwarded with him as my choice as well. I'm surprised to see names like Robert Salah. That high. And I know it's first year coach like motivation for why but like.
Can they have a good enough season right like if they win seven games, nobody cares. That's not coach. The status. Yeah, I just got to win like 10, you know, and I just don't know if they can get there. Yeah, I feel that way about clean, clean, kubiakit plus 1700. He's got better odds than Jim Harbaugh, dang Harbaugh or dang Campbell Liam Cohen Kyle Shanahan. He's got better odds than all those guys to win coach the year. First year high coaches, man. I get it, but she's Louise like. The dark horse I like is Kevin O'Connell at plus 2700. That's he was 98 last year with with unstable quarterback playing and I'm not in love with Kyla Murray, but come on. He could be reasonable there. And I think with their whole narrative about how bad their GM has been and. You know, that division, if they can go win 11 games and. I feel like Kevin O'Connell at plus 2700 is pretty spicy for the for the bargains there. Let me ask you this. What is Sean Payton have to do to win coach the year? If he is the worst odds of any coach, I'm going to go 17. I'm serious like he does. I asked him to.
Yeah, it's got to be his store. It's got to be. It's got to meet every bit of the historicness of the hype. That's right. That's right. All right, we got so many more interesting conversations offensive player of the year is next folks. Be sure to stick with us. There are more live events than ever worth seeing right now. I'm going to mere gives. And I know he's high on the odds, but there's a combination of things that I really like. First of all, the pathway to touches. No David Montgomery, Isaiah Pacheco looks like he's got an injury already like there. He's going to touch the ball enough times to produce. And I think he's an electric player, right? The skill set is certainly capable of producing huge numbers. I'm excited about true pet's taking over the offense there. And I like the lot of the structure of what he did in Arizona. I thought some of the execution components with the inconsistency at quarterback took away from it. But Jared golf is going to run the offense. And I think that Gibbs is obviously an elite player.
But within a really nice ecosystem that positions in for a ton of volume. I really like games this year. Yeah, the only other player I really gave amongst the top names. Like we love draft dudes alumni, Bajan Robinson, right? But I think their quarterback situation is going to be hurtful for them. Jabar chase, I thought about. I'm not fading JSM, but I think losing clean, kubiak. The bar so high with what he has to. I think that's what he's going to do. I think that's what he's going to do. Surprise to see names like Justin Jefferson and Derek Henry as high as they are. Although I guess Justin Jefferson, your hope is Tyler gives you. Functional quarterback play and then he's back to being the player that he's been for a long time. I'm with you, man. Like I don't want to overcomplicate it. Jumar Gibbs is. Shout out to. Who do we fight with? Was it Keith?
Yeah, yeah. I love and then the key, the Jumar Gibbs call on who they liked better is the running backs at the. We were all working together with draft stuff and we're both right. We're both right. But yeah, the situation matters, right? They gives in a in their offenses. He's a low man. He's a very, very, very special player. And I agree with you with Petsig. I agree with you with their offensive structure. Backfields a little lighter. They just put Pichekko on IR. So yeah. Go ahead. I'm with you. My dark horse here, George Pickens at plus 4,000. My fancy team would like that. Yeah, I come on. The numbers are unbelievable last year and year two. Wanted to deal like. I think the numbers can be huge and I'm not predicting him, but at the 20th odds at plus 4,000. You know, I think that's a good dark horse. What about broad powers? Yeah, dude, he could get a higher. Yeah, you could tell me you catch all the passes.
You tell me it's 170 targets this year, I believe you. Yeah. Yeah, I, I, I, Jonathan Taylor plus 2000 as well. I mean, it's certainly possible. There's some juicy values, I think, available in this award. Yeah. A defensive player of the year. I can't, I can't quit Will Anderson, man. I don't know if he's going to get it last year was because Miles Garrett broke the sack record, but. Oh, is that that's the only reason why I say that? Yes, yes, I do get the casual thing. Right, right. I mean, something historical happened that blocked this man from getting it, but I just think that he's. He's maturing, you know, as a player, obviously, like he's super young, but he's got some laps around the track now and. That defensive structure, man, those guys have been together. And it's, you know, it's own defense. And so that those reps, right, like they've seen it all together and they're really, really talented.
And I think that helps the front. Good luck. Good luck. It plus the division with super sackable quarterbacks. You know, like, you know, I think that matters too. So Will Anderson for me. I'm going with the guy who won it last year, who's on a better system that everybody is just automatically getting a default to it's like what Aaron. I don't had where like he had his worst statistical season in like six years and still was just like at the yellow, like 98% of first place votes for defense player of the year. I like 2020 or 22 miles. Is that's just like normal season and. Yeah, I do because hope he now has. If he doesn't have the sack numbers that are equating to what he did. Well, now he's on a good team. Now he's going to be playing prime time all the time. Now even if he shares the set, they'll say, oh, he's sharing the sacks with all the other guys. That's kind of what I think though. I just so many so many guys that. I think you're going to be capable of producing.
He'll have 13. You say his 13 sat 12 13 sacks this year. That shouldn't be enough though, right? It shouldn't be enough, but. I know you're going to the Xavier Howard Aaron Donald Aaron Donald head eight and a half sacks Xavier Howard had like 11 interceptions for the first time in the first 10 years. We've had double the general. I get it. I know I you. This is this is the thing. Yeah, one of the 2020 with. 13 sacks, but it was the. Loist numbers of. Run game production and. Loist number of takeaways and bad asses and. Is a modest Aaron Donald season. Versus what he'd been the year before anyone defense player the year two out last three seasons. Did you have 41 quarterback hits plus 20 and a half sacks in 2008. That's good man. Good player. But then you take that and he gets 12 sacks and. 24 quarterback hits the next season and.
Like you still in that defense player of your conversation. I just think that's where Miles is that right now. Some same miles here. Oh, I got to get my dark horse pick. Jeffrey Simmons broke plus 10,000 39th. There's some pretty shameful name baiting going on in this book with. TJ Y plus 3000s like top eight. Try Hendrix and plus 3000. Some old guard names that pass rushers that. They're they're not. They're not. I mean this conversation. Now you get down to about Nick Boas at plus 4500. Yeah, certainly that type of guy. What about the. Christian Gonzalez is plus 5500. Yummy. I think there's some much better values.
Significantly further down the board than then your second tier of players. Dexter Lawrence plus 10,000. Thanks for the extra lunches not going to defense player. They're when James plus 10,000. Yeah, I think there's some players in that stratosphere that. Should be more in the conversation than. TJ Y at plus 3000. The third best address Ron is team. Yeah, yeah. And he's one two three four five six seven eighth eighth best dots. Uh, you want to do one more? You want to go break? Yeah, I think that's a good one. Let's stay on schedule and come back and finish it all. Great. So folks be sure to stick with us. College football fans. It's time to put your knowledge to the test with college football pick them. Jeremiah Love plus 470 carnal tape plus 550 for an animal.
Mendoza plus 600. Diderion price plus 650. Jisjohn Stribling plus 1000. Makai lemon plus 1500. Casey conception plus 2000. That's it for 2000 or better odds. I'm going to want to stream. Strip club guy. Yeah. It's really good. I think it's really good. I think it's really good. Ecosystem quarterback that I think will be really productive in a backup quarterback that I think it's step in if needed. The path to opportunities just really wide open Christian Kirk's already hurt. They they picked him high. I think NFL teams like to validate themselves. I liked his involvement in the preseason. I like to skill set. I just think the opportunities going to be there on a good offense. I don't think the field super strong to be honest. So I mean, he's he's fifth in odds. It's not like I'm going way off the deep end.
But I just it's the best situation to me for a guy to step in and get the volume necessary to get this award. Go ahead and put me down for a Diderion price plus 650. Do I think George Holan is going to. Be the guy to get in the way right like sharpening coming back off the injury. He's on I are to return. I believe it's how they designated him. He on putt. He's still on putt. So he'll miss time coming back to start the season. He's the first round pickle in Daring Price. Imagine they're going to want to continue to run the football. I think the table set here for 250 plus touches the season. If that's the case, I think the numbers will be there. There were prices just kind of there'll be a successful team defending super rule champions. I mean, It's tough on this year. My dark horse pick is going to be Cyrus Allen, I guess.
At some point a young receiver is going to have to take off with with my homes, right? So eventually someday plus 6000. I thought it was a decent one. I think Denzel Boston is interesting. It's interesting a plus 2500. Yeah. I think if you can pick the right dolphins rookie receiver. Right. There will be targets. Chris Bells plus 7,000. Killed Douglas plus 4500. Maybe sprinkle a little something on each one of them. Maybe there will be targets. There will be targets. Some nice dark horse values there, but yeah, we're staying close to the top of the board. You took struggling. I took price defensive rookie of the year. Caleb Downs for me. I'll move in main plus 40, 470.
David Bailey plus 500 root a Caleb Downs plus 700 sunny status plus 750 R Valries plus 850. Man's sword the lane plus 1000. Those are kind of the leaders in the club house. Jacob Rodriguez plus 1200. A key mezzador plus 1500. The only other players better than plus 2000. You're going Caleb Downs. As you get a meal able to move all around plays on the Dallas Cowboys. Was everybody's busy. One of their favorite prospects in the draft process. Feels like a perfect storm to me. He's going to start. I think Dallas will be better defensive. I'm going to be more politely better defensively this year. They can very easily just point to Caleb Downs. Part of the reason why. I don't know that you're going to get big time sack numbers out of. David Bailey. Two of the other four guys around them in the top five are stack off all linebackers. Plus Jacob Rodriguez. It's a good pick. I'm going to go with the favorite. I'm going to Ruben Bane on this one.
Yeah, man. I think part of that. Rush group that's going to include Vita Vega and collage a can see. And Yaya Diabi. I think Ruben Bane's going to fit right in. Obviously that some questions about that overall defense. But there's also the sackable quarterback thing going on in that division. And so I feel like if you can put up the sack production, I think that'll give him an edge in kind of how the voting goes. So just to paint the patient with the defensive rookie of the year landscape looks like. The one two three four five six seven eight. We had eight players that were plus 2000 or better. Nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. You know who the 15th best odds are to win defensive review. Um, Bryce Betcher. Is he going to play? Regardless. Yeah. Especially if you're going to play a lot of football. I think that's a good thing. You know, I think the best value is Josiah Trotter at plus eight thousand.
If he starts, which it looks like he's going to like. He should have a big year. It does warm my heart to see Jordan Van den Berg have better odds than Josiah Trotter. This is a big Van den Berg guy. But that's kind of goofy though, right? I think that's the propaganda of Van den Berg getting gasped up like that. But yes, Josiah Trotter, I think what's he doing down there plus eight thousand? Does the Navy sense to me? Keep sleeping. I'm not. I'm woke on this and the too many folks that said that. We can play the pass, I guess. But not have to. You just can be a hammer ball in that defense. You know what I mean? It's 20 years old. I think you'll learn to play the pass. Yeah. I think he's here or not. He's going to tackle for loss and sacks and run stuff, so they're going to be all over the place. Jacob Rodriguez is a good, I mean, like, plus 100. Yeah, he won the starting job. How many high rail dots and how many fumbles has he forced in practice?
I need to know, is it is it happening? Still is it. I could tell you it's at least five. And that doesn't make me happy. I mean, I watch the bills lose the dolphins last year with Josh Allen and James click fumble in the ball. You know what I mean? can't be having this. I'm just punch out king. Right. It's really good at it. There's too many for it to not be like an actual skill that he has. Come back player. Okay. It's Patrick Mahomes just give it to him now. The NFL cannot wait to make Patrick Mahomes the comeback player of the year this year. I don't know. Dude, we got Aaron Donald in the field this year. Aaron. No, I'm glad Aaron Donald is not eligible. They they they solidified the criteria. A player who demonstrates resilience by overcoming physical injury, illness or other circumstances that caused them to miss playing time. The previous other circumstances. He retired. That's other circus. No, you can't be coming back from retirement. No way. No other circumstances. He came back extraordinary. He literally came back from what was resilient from not playing.
No. If Aaron Donald gets a vote. He's going to that person's voting privileges away. Absolutely insane. He's going to play for literally insane. Retucked. He came back from retired. He came he came off the couch. Guy, other guys have gone through like legitimate things. Joe Marino, Joe Flacco did that exact thing right. And then they changed they specifically changed the criteria because that was ridiculous. You can't there's no way two years later. You go and you make Aaron Donald from retired. Then they need to come out and issue an affordable statement because the only person that I would imagine half of these voters are more eager to vote for an award other than Patrick Mahomes is Aaron Donald. They did this though. They put they went through the whole process of of shoring up the criteria to make sure that the spear of the rule of the award was truly captured. And if we get Aaron Donald gets about on the field. I know and didn't win the award. For Joe Flacco to throw yellow balls for eight starts.
And also like in that stretch, like have the worst ball security of. Oh my God. It's insane. That's I'm just banking on the voting being dumb. And I know they're going to see Aaron Donald say he didn't play last year. I know. Dude, when I was playing the year, I was thumbing through the odds and I saw his name on there. My blood boiler than you brought it up and you knew exactly what you're doing. I did. Who's your pick? It's Patrick Mahomes. Dude, I turned on. Yes, I can't deal with him. I'm I'm voting with with I'm voting on the voters. What the voters do. Just as much as I am with my own logic, I'm voting with what I think the voters will do. There's some like if we like to actually kind of like get into some of the guys that are really kind of coming back from some stuff like Jonathan Brooks is a guy that has been trying to get on the field for two years of like he can be healthy and be a productive guy for Panthers. I don't feel like he'll have as big enough of a season to really like move the needle here.
But you want to talk about like truly coming back from something that that pops from me with what Brooks has tried to battle through in his early career. I think Malik neighbors is a good candidate plus. Secret. Sure. For sure. You know, it was just there's a big stretch of this all season where the vibes did not sound great. As far as where he was at. So it's super dark horse, but to I mean if two goes out there and balls out for Atlanta, I think he deserves to be in the conversation tanked out if he actually comes back and can be like super productive.
