En: When the cold winter wind swept through the corridors of the Ljubljanska gimnazija, Matej stood in front of the school notice board.
En: Every morning, a new, mysterious message appeared, written in chalk.
En: "Beware of the weather, floods are coming," it stated today.
En: Matej was skeptical; this was the fifth notice this week.
En: "They want to scare us again," Matej said to his classmate Ana, who stood next to him wrapped in a thick coat.
En: Ana smiled, but curiosity still gleamed in her eyes.
Sl: "Morda je v teh besedah nekaj resnice," je odgovorila, "kaj če so opozorila resnična?
En: "Maybe there's some truth to these words," she replied, "what if the warnings are real?"
En: The school was covered in snow, and the air was cold.
Sl: Okoli njiju so se študentje zbirali, vsi v zimskih jaknah, dihajoč bele oblake pare.
En: Around them, students gathered, all in winter jackets, breathing white clouds of steam.
Sl: A kljub mrazu je bilo v zraku nekaj skrivnostnega, kar je pritegnilo Matejevo zanimanje.
En: Yet despite the cold, there was something mysterious in the air that piqued Matej's interest.
En: Matej decided to get to the bottom of it.
En: "We'll stay after class," he said to Ana.
Sl: "Ugotoviti morava, kdo piše ta sporočila.
En: "We need to find out who is writing these messages."
Sl: "Skepticizem sošolcev in učiteljev jima ni pomagal.
En: The skepticism of their classmates and teachers did not help them.
Sl: Mnogi so menili, da so dogodki le naključja.
En: Many thought the events were just coincidences.
En: Matej and Ana knew they had a tough task ahead to decipher the mysterious words.
En: When the clock hands continued to creep after the last bell, Matej and Ana hid behind a nearby corner to watch the notice board.
Sl: Ura je minila.
En: An hour passed.
En: Another went by, when they finally saw a shadow sneaking up to the board.
Sl: Odločno sta stopila naprej in zaslišala, kako nekdo hitro zapira oglasno steklo.
En: They stepped forward decisively and heard someone quickly closing the notice board's glass.
Sl: Matejeva roka je prijela omarico in odprla vrata.
En: Matej's hand grabbed the cabinet and opened the door.
Sl: Pred njima je stal nenavaden, a prijazen obraz novega hišnika.
En: In front of them stood the unusual but friendly face of the new janitor.
Sl: "Vi?
En: "You?"
Sl: " se je čudil Matej.
En: Matej marveled.
Sl: "Zakaj?
En: "Why?"
Sl: "Hišnik, gospod Volče, se je nasmehnil.
En: The janitor, gospod Volče, smiled.
En: "My family has been predicting the future for a long time," he said.
Sl: "Sporočila so moj način opozorila.
En: "The messages are my way of warning.
En: I want to help you prepare for the upcoming events."
Sl: "Ana se je nasmehnila.
En: Ana smiled.
Sl: "Tvoje besede pomagajo," je rekla.
En: "Your words help," she said.
Sl: "Ni več dvoma v to.
En: "There's no doubt about it."
Sl: "Matej je bil presenečen, toda spoznal je globlje razumevanje.
En: Matej was surprised but gained a deeper understanding.
En: "Sometimes there are truly phenomena that you don't immediately understand," he thought out loud.
En: In the cold evening of Ljubljana, Matej realized that reality is not always as simple as it seems.
Sl: Zmagoslavno sta z Ano zapustila šolo, čuteč novo povezanost s skrivnostnim in nepojasnljivim delom življenja.
En: Triumphantly, he and Ana left the school, feeling a new connection with the mysterious and unexplained part of life.
En: Subtly drizzling snow fell around them as they headed towards the festive atmosphere among the holiday-decorated streets, their thoughts occupied with new mysteries they had learned to appreciate.
