She just made a court appearance and we have learned that she was hoping to do much more damage to her family. And with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ, a case robes that has a bunch of similarities, echoes of the Lindsey Clancy case. But what in God's name are we about to do with this one now because we are learning

4:06some much more disturbing details of an already disturbing case. That's right. The old Corey Walsh, mom of four, made her first court appearance after yes, her own children, a neighbor, and then police discovered another horrific, unthinkable tragedy. Her two-year-old toddler hanging from the rafter of her basement. She was found in the bathtub, fully clothed in bloody water, seemingly trying to kill herself with a knife. One familiar, a dead child in the basement, a woman trying to kill herself with a knife in the aftermath. The kid strangled even, right? Strangle. The kid was strangled, hanging from. So obviously, robes, people made, you know what, even if before you heard some of the details the police gave us, the parallels were already being made. But on top of that, police did add to it and say this woman was someone who the word

5:09that you is invested in. Yes. I believe her attorney even used the word fascinated by the Lindsay Clancy trial. And yes, the jury was out in the middle of deliberations when the murder actually happened, but we're starting to get some new, even more chilling details because yes, she was in court today. And this is the big headline. The judge in this case denied her attorney's request for a release. They want her in a mental facility. They want her being treated for what they say is postpartum psychosis. They're using that exact phrase? Yes. Okay. Her attorneys want her to be in inpatient medical care, but the judge denied the request for that because the judge said there are compelling reasons to continue Corey Walsh's detainment, namely that she poses a risk to her remaining children and her husband. That's why, but the defense was arguing for her to be released, but to a facility.

6:09They were saying let her go home. But still, if you're in a facility, you're not in the same type of restraints or detainment that you would be if you were in a prison. And so yes, I guess there's still the thought what if her children came to visit, what if her husband came to visit, what if anyone came to visit her? Is she capable of being trusted? And the judge said she needs to be behind bars for safety reasons. And you mentioned the husband. Is that the highlight? I guess that's jump off the page type information. We just got this. There's a short time ago. She was in a court hearing for the first time Corey Walsh again charged with killing her two-year-old child. This was last week that this took place. Now, Rose, her first court appearance today, we're learning now, Rose, in the part that jumps off the page. She was hoping to do more damage potentially to the family. Correct. So this all came out in the hearing today, but prosecutors say the Corey Walsh discussed

7:11with police planning to poison her husband with a drink when he came home. And they claim she believed that she had killed her other children. So initially she had said she had drowned the infant, which by the way, they found the infant on the ground in the floor of a room completely unsupervised. And the two older children were at school when this was all taking place to unfortunately come home and walk into the aftermath of all of this. But she believed, according to prosecutors, that she had already killed her other children and she was planning to poison her husband with a drink. Yes, the question rose there. And again, I'm thinking about the Lindsey Clansi case. I leave the infant alone and alive. I don't believe. Or a attorney says she was in a state of psychosis that unfortunately coincided with the Lindsey Clancy trial, but just speaking to her level of psychosis, she wasn't even clear what was real and what was not, what she had done and what she hadn't done or what she

8:12was planning to do. And look, some of those witnesses, we also heard that she had been actively texting some of her friends in a group chat about the Lindsey Clancy trial. Some of those friends have provided some more information saying they noticed unusual behavior from her in those text messages. They say they described her messaging as confusing and out of character. Her friend said that Corey Walsh believed Patrick Clancy killed the children and was writing to them in this group chat that it was manslaughter. She's helped. I'm really freaking out. She was taking it personally and acting as if there was some threat. And she was of the belief that Patrick Clancy is the one who killed the kids. So they said she started talking or texting in a way that was out of character and they were concerned something was wrong. The neighbor who found her described her as having dilated eyes and a weird giggle.

9:13When the paramedics who came on the scene described her as what was the word they used? I want to make sure I get it right. They claimed that she was basically out of control. So everyone's describing that she was behaving strangely and oddly when they found her incoherent is the word they used. Here is the thing, ropes and let's send Lindsey Clancy's name has come up plenty. There was part of that people had difficulty with because she was described in all ways that they varied normal, caring, loving woman and even in the days leading up to where some of the best days in terms of her looking normal. What this woman is describing is something that we are comfortable with assigning to crazy. Or whatever reason, babe, we assume that people who are in psychosis who are mentally unstable, behave a certain way, look a certain way. Our identifiable even, she is what we've known so far, ropes is described as a woman who

10:15had all that stuff. Yes. And adding to that, there are some more details that came out in court today that absolutely fall in line with that. The first responders say that she was yelling out the names of fruits for whatever reason and singing follow the yellow brick road, like, manically, incoherently. And the only other information that came out about her mental health today and the hearing was that she had recently been seeing a counselor but had never previously, as far as anyone knew, displayed any signs of abuse towards her children. There were no other signs that something was amiss, something was wrong. Bottom line, it seems like from this court hearing, no one had any warning signs ahead of time, other than the few hours leading up to the murder where she was texting strange things about Patrick Lansy. Short of that, there was no information that there were warning signs or red flags or anything that signaled that someone, anyone, should be concerned about her mental health.

11:18And from what you've seen so far, there is no evidence of or nobody's pointing to a history of mental health, which is with her. Not yet. Not yet. Just that her attorneys are saying she was clearly in a state of psychosis when this all took place. Look. Rose people are rolling their eyes immediately. Are you kidding me? We just days and a really in the middle of the trial still. One or two out of a thousand women in pregnancies are diagnosed. They tell us with postpartum psychosis. We got so back to back. So we're just going to keep this going. I know people, but Rose, we say it's one or two out of a thousand. What if it's 50? What if it's 100? Right. Let's pay attention. Should we not? I am not going to immediately be dismissive of this woman. And what she's saying, Rose, coincidence, crazy. This is all bananas now. But at what point do we take it a little more seriously, baby? It's frightening.

12:18I mean, I think we have to at least look at this with that. Yes, you want to have healthy skepticism. Obviously, that's going to be a part of this investigation. But I think we also have to hold space that this could have triggered something. This could have loosened something that was building. We don't know. We know that she had a number of drinks at home and there were a number of prescription bottles. So we don't know what was in her system. Wait, what's the drinks bar? We don't. It just said drinks. So don't know if she was consuming alcohol, mixing it with prescription drugs. If that added to any of this, it's unclear. But we also know this was this came out pretty early on when this atrocity was described that she immediately told police that she killed her two-year-old son because he was the devil and the anti-Christ. So everything she said, so she says her son was the devil, the anti-Christ. She thinks she's murdered the rest of her children. She's trying to kill herself. She says she planned on poisoning her husband. She starts talking nonsense about the Lindsay Clancy trial.

13:19She's singing, follow the yellow brick road and screaming out names of fruits. But the only silver lining in all of this is that she thought she had killed her other children according to police who were there on the scene. Thankfully, she didn't. She couldn't have killed her older children because they were in school and we don't know why we're grateful, obviously, that that infant was unharmed. It's weird to target the two-year-old. To target the two-year-old, the infant was more helpless than the two-year-old. The older ones again. You do. You think about that. We've covered how many stories of female side here lately with guys wiping out entire family type things. So I'm going to family of five, six, seven, eight being taken out at a time. What is happening? Because we worried about that, Rose. We had a stretch of, is this one influencing the next one? If somebody's seeing that on the news and that incurred, is it put something in people's head? I do think there's something to that.

14:19Man. Maybe, look, she could have been experiencing or in the process of experiencing, I say, a psychotic break and hearing about this story, hearing the details about the story could have gotten into her head and gotten all mixed up in her head. And yes, I do leave space for the possibility that hearing about it, being exposed to it, talking about it, thinking about it, creating theories around it, could have added to something that was already happening inside her that unfortunately resulted in this horrific murder of her two year old. But, babe, you know, we were surprised at how little space people were willing to give Lindsey Clancy. Now this, there are some people I ain't trying to hear this at all. They don't want to, this is impossible that we have another one of these. Clearly, this is just women killing their kids for whatever reason. And trying to get away with it by claiming psychosis. Is it rope?

15:20There is a strong contingent of people. Not want to hear anything else about Lindsey Clancy. What are they going to say about this? You were asking me before the break, what about all those people who are already so skeptical that Lindsey Clancy could possibly have been suffering from postpartum psychosis? What in God's name are they going to say about this woman who suddenly has a similar episode right at the time, the Lindsey Clancy trial headlines are reaching a fever pitch. That just sounds convenient and way too coincidental, right? Well, her attorney addressed this in court because obviously many, many, many, many people

20:37are saying that. And he said it's sickening. He said mentions of Cory Walsh being a Lindsey Clancy copycat are sickening describing Cory to cut as to have copied Lindsey is to take an easy bait. And he said it's disgusting and far from the truth. So he claims she was severely mentally ill at the time of incident. And yes, they said that she was diagnosed with and you mentioned this grief psychotic disorder. So they're trying why would she have it? By the way, what grief. So according to the National Library of Medicine, bereavement may lead to heterogeneous psychological responses, including prolonged grief disorder, depression and psychotic like experiences. Okay. So unclear. We're going to learn about something new, I guess a trial. Unclear if this grief psychotic disorder was that she was grieving.

21:42The loss of Lindsey Clancy's children. And somehow it morphed into her own psychotic disorder. It really is confusing. And yes, they're saying that her mental health was assessed at the hospital and that doctors agreed with her defense attorneys that she does need treatment, but she is not going to be getting it. She is going to stay behind bars until at least her next court appearance, which is set for September 24th. So in a couple of weeks, but she is staying behind bars in meantime, she's in court facing three counts of first degree murder. We can explain that. It's a little confusing. I can. I actually have that. The reason why they've charged her with three counts of first degree murder is they actually are setting up three potential theories that they are willing to potentially prove if this goes to trial. It's just interesting how they chose to do this. Right. We're right. Illinois. Illinois. This is Illinois. We follow so many states and so many crimes. They're so different in how they handle similar cases.

22:45It's true. Yeah, this is this was bizarre. She killed one kid and she charged with three counts of murder. It doesn't make a lot of sense. The first is because they're going to prove she killed her son with the intent to kill or do great bodily harm. The second charge is that they'll prove she killed her son knowing that such an act would cause death. And the third charge is they'll prove she killed her son knowing such an act created a strong probability of death or great bodily harm. It almost sounds like they're willing to try three different tactics than see which one sticks with a jury or with a judge, right? So ultimately, obviously she killed one child, but I'm not sure they're just, I guess, hedging their bets or trying it from different angles. This is how our legal system works or at least how it does in the state of Illinois. But while she is in this hearing, the funeral for Barrett, and this is just sad to know his nickname was bear. But yeah, it does. A little bear, two year old bear was literally being laid to rest today, Tuesday.

23:48His funeral was today while she, his mother was in court facing first degree murder charges. Do you understand why anybody would say any? I guess I see both sides. There's some people with monster. I don't want to hear the next sentence after a mother kills her two year old. There's nothing else to talk about. I don't want to hear it. I guess I can understand why some people are in that camp. I just, I don't know who to where to go with it, baby, and how much do we need to understand and learn and be compassionate for somebody who killed a two year old? That is. I think we need to be willing to listen and learn and not that they shouldn't be, look, I don't think anyone is going to rush to judgment and say she shouldn't be behind bars. Look, I think especially if you have a woman who thought she already killed her other kids might be very violently surprised to find out she didn't or might get into some sort of, you know, continuous psychotic experience or get back into one if she sees them. You just, you would never want to expose her surviving children to her.

24:50And certainly if she's told police, she had plans to kill her husband and said how she was going to do it. Yeah, you probably want to keep her far away from everyone. Why should she just not be in prison for the rest of her life in that, that not be the end of it? The next part, mercy, grace, compassion, understanding is difficult, baby. We are losing children. Kids are dying at a weird clip at the hands of their parents this year, baby. Yeah, and we need to understand why, baby. Some's going on. We do. So we are, this is the new thing. That's what's not. This is, is it us? Like I am, we got to back off. We need to take, okay, it's been a tough summer. It's so much been tough. This is awful. And I'm starting to piece together because we're doing the familiar side thing, but robes, the number of kids who are dying at the hands of their parents this year. It's, what has happened? It's, it's awful. It's unnatural. And yeah, we need to understand why. And this is for right now, look, we know things can change. We know that Patrick stood by Lindsay.

25:52Obviously he divorced her, but he has stood by her from a legal standpoint. And right now, Corey Walsh's husband and her mother, they weren't in court because they were at Little Bear's funeral. But officials have said that both her husband and her mother have unwavering love and support for her and have been fully cooperating with police and social workers. So look, the guy she was going poison is fully cooperating. I mean, I will listen now. Right now. I got to hear, baby, what are we doing? So at some point, do we not have to just say, hey, we got to put people in prison who killed their kids? I don't want to hear anything else. I think that obviously is, is where she is right now. Where are we moneying? I think most people would believe that's where she belongs right now because she actually seems as though she is a danger to herself and others. But criminal responsibility. Oh my God. And doesn't she have the, the lawyer from Casey Anthony? Yes. She has a Casey Anthony. One of the people who was on the case for Casey Anthony is on, is representing Corey Walsh.

26:57Jesus. You can't make it up. Jesus. I'm sure if this thing ends up going to trial, we'll probably see some of the same forensic psychoanalysts that we saw in the Lindsay Clancy case. Because there's only two in the country and they don't agree. Apparently. Yes. So look, this story is just beginning. And again, this is the exact one week anniversary of the death of the murder of little Barrett Walsh. And he was again laid to rest today. His mom will stay behind bars until a couple of weeks for now. We will stay on top of this story because yes, we do need to understand what the heck is going on.
