You've got used to one segment of good takes in the morning, but now there's a full show of good takes tonight Welcome into rafts good take on sports on 93 seven to ticket Welcome in the rafts good take on sports 93.7 to ticket ticket FM dot com Back to back days with Chris rap in studio He's here in Lincoln. Obviously if you listen to the show last night or go back to listen when you can A raft gave his explanation then but rap in the meantime hanging out here at 1040 O street in the capital city for a live edition of rafts Good take on sports. If you want to be part of the conversation There are a lot of people in your essay. Raff was telling me how many people were in here watching the show last night Just on YouTube alone loaded and maybe it's because football seasons back maybe because raft was back people are waiting your raft People are waiting for you like I said people when they saw raft is back in the title they clicked on that YouTube video a sap they missed me they really missed me. I think we all did we all did no it felt good to be back

It was very therapeutic for all the people listening the prayers the continued prayers. Thank you. I had a smooth day again today So just got to keep on putting together smooth days, but yeah, so thank you so much for all the thoughts and prayers man I can't even get to tell you how much that means to me and my family. So thank you so much awesome So with that, you know, we're gonna get into some football conversations while I remember streaming live Facebook YouTube Twitter Alla channel 961 the NFL is back and that game's going on as we talk and we'll talk about that momentarily But week two of college football is already here actually I'm I'm making it I'm making it change on auto I'm gonna Omaha Omaha Omaha I got to bring this up because I forgot to mention this last night had a lot of things on my mind, but I want to send out a huge congratulations to Reagan brand She committed to the University of Nebraska over the weekend to play softball at Nebraska. Yeah, yeah Awesome. I have subliminally subliminably man, I've been struggling on my words. That's all right

Well, let me tell you I wanted Rhonda Revelle on the staff to recruit and recruit Reagan really hard I I did not make any comments I did not force it in hands, but I'm man I was so hoping that they would be able to keep Reagan home at Nebraska and her committing to Nebraska just super cool thing Fantastic softball player, but what I love most about Reagan she is an even better person and she's from an amazing family Not just Reagan, but her family have contacted reached out about my dad and just how amazing is that that you have you know, but maybe 18 year old girl that cares that much to reach out you know During one of the biggest times of her life just to see you know how our family is doing so man I am so excited for Rhonda Revelle and Jordy ball and that that team down there and getting Reagan I told I told Reagan that if she ever played in the college World Series, I would be in attendance, but now I'm thinking Nebraska needs to schedule some games down south maybe in Tuscaloosa and maybe

We'll be attending some games when she makes a way down there so congratulations Reagan brand that's my Omaha Omaha audible hey with that I mean they're hosting the big 10 softball tournament this year as well that was announced that's really cool And then they added in college park Maryland and they're gonna have it here and that'll be that'll be huge I mean we saw the crowd was like for that regional and super regional to send them to Oklahoma city and hey Alabama's been pretty good softball Nebraska's softball Nebraska's softball and Nebraska's softball The schedule's not out yet maybe some things from the works you want to play the best the best I mean Nebraska's softball played team from in the south in Texas last year a couple times some Texas tech red Raiders as a company so you never know what's on the schedule will know that and do time when that 2027 softball season comes around so excited for that as well, but raft week two of college football There's some exciting games going on I mean week one was eventful so way I would describe it there were some exciting games you all miss Louisville Florida state falling at home despite winning the turnover differential The game we're all talking about western Michigan and Michigan still being talked about this day I don't know if you saw this like in in the new college

Well, if you saw this like in in the new college well view game the updated their rankings past week one western Michigan's number 24 while Michigan's number 25 They put them up by one spot on them so I don't know who's playing games there but interesting that it happened but this week Ohio state Texas the one of the marquee games entering this week for college football and the rankings came out you know Ohio States preseason number one in Texas came off and we went over Texas state but this game is the game that everybody's been talking about since that last year When they played the begin the season in Columbus now this year you're another year of archmaning a quarterback you saw what Julian Sains like this is the market game of the first couple weeks of college football season Yeah, it was kind of weird. I told Rudy tonight it was kind of a little bit of a dagger saying this but I'm leaning towards Texas I think I think archmaning is came of age I think he's going to have that performance that will probably escalate him up the Heisman ranks But I think that it's Texas you know to get the victory this this weekend over Ohio state and was it Julian Sain and Jeremiah Smith I think I think I think the archmaning time all that hubbub over him last year that kind of or the last couple years that kind of did not live up to the expectations

I think this is the game to where archmaning shills everyone that he is one of those top notch Tysmentrophy type candidates so I am going to lean towards Texas Rudy might be mad at me though because sometimes when I pick games the opposite thing happens so we'll see he shaken his head but but but if I put on the Oracle hat That's what I can say here Raf here the Oracle so most of the time I don't think my Oracle powers work when it comes to picking games I'm really good at predictions but maybe not as good at picking games. Yeah, I mean it's also one of those games like we saw archmaning that was kind of the first game and expectations for him were to the moon because of the manning on the back of the jersey and last year you know he is put under a microscope and we do a lot of their quarterbacks last year you know Julian Sain didn't play great in that game last year but he was first career star he's following years of kind of Ohio State quarterbacks there however they win the game and everybody kind of doesn't really bat night Ohio State goes on to a playoff loses the eventual run rough in Miami and then you have you have Texas who's kind of chip in shop and I bit Steve Sarkisians had that team in playoff commerce it has had the team in the playoffs with win yours it just feels like a team of destiny this right yes the SEC has a lot of very good competitive teams we saw LSU what they did the Clemson we saw out what we've seen Alabama we've seen

Georgia but they feel like they're a team that's kind of right on there and it feels like they're just ready to hit that peak and you know that hump against some of those teams throughout the year I think they're they can afford a loss yes yes if they lose to Ohio State it's not the end of the world you're one in one on the season but then you have SEC play and you know Texas can be battle test throughout that because but if you win a home game over Ohio State then I'm one team you really solidify yourself as one of those top to your programs and playoff contenders throughout the rest of the year. Yeah and I think to this is probably the year where if you're going to be awarded for losing a game against top a top-notch team I think this is the year where it's going to happen because there's been so much talk about other teams playing powder puff schedules that being that you're you know taking the opportunity and playing the number one team in the country that you I think you'll be rewarded for it I think if Texas is close and even Ohio State if it's a close ball game I don't think they're going to be punished for for playing this game like in other past years maybe you get they drop they maybe drop and I think the score I'll be telling you know how far they would drop but if it's a close game I wouldn't see a huge a huge drop in the polls like I could maybe see Ohio State drop in like maybe two or three yeah but I don't see it them being punished like we're going to drop you down to five or six now and that's just a complete you know

out behind the woodshed type of game but I think that they're going to be rewarded both teams will be rewarded for playing this game while you have see these other teams that are out playing these you know these crazy games of the world that they're making a paycheck or we talked about last night where they reset the clock for fourth quarter so it's only a 10 12 minute quarter instead of fifteen minute quarter. You want to look at the polls as a whole I mean no not a lot of changes there a lot of first place votes for week two though around around college football. Ohio State gets 46 them. Obviously they start the year of the win over ball state. Notre Dame gets four votes for them after they beat Wisconsin. Texas, as we mentioned, they had two votes for them. Indiana gets eight. Oregon gets three. Miami gets one. And the number eight, LSU getting eight votes. And I think this is our five votes. This is an interesting team because of how they defeated Clemson just so single handedly and a 40 plus point blowout. And they're going to be a team that people keep an eye on throughout their entire year because of Lane Kiffin. And if it was just the hype behind him, the Lane Tracer are you rolling in the Baton Rouge or is it the roster he put together or are you

continues to put together with sounds like none of those NFL guys are coming back. Now I know he had a little bit of joke about that. But that's an LSU team to keep an eye on because I was I mean, I was just shocked by the way they just dismantled Clemson from start to finish that game. And they're only playing Ole Miss in a couple of weeks. I believe it's next week. And that's going to be a hyped game for a reason. But LSU is a team to monitor. I think they're a legit team based off of what we saw. Yes, it's one game, but they looked like a completely different class compared to Clemson. Well, too. Also, you look at it like, you know, it's not going to be the top 12 there, but you look at just the 12 teams in your top 12 right there. And the storylines that would be had, if say this playoff started today and those were the 12 teams, I mean, you know, it's not going to be like that. But you just look at those teams. You're just like, that's must watch TV. There's not many games out there where you'd be like, well, I'm not going to watch that. You're like, I mean, and the storylines that could, they could prevail with some of these matchups that could potentially happen. And you're going to

see these matchups throughout the season, which I mean, this, I mean, as big of a mess is college football is outside of the gates. Inside the gates on the field, we're going to see probably some of the best football that we've seen in a long time with the matchups that are going to take places of the season continues. And then I also was going to make you know, I will say this about Michigan, dropping them out of the, out of the rankings. That's a little harsh, I think. I mean, they did get the win. I mean, I understand with an extra second. Well, they did. But you know, that, and now they're, now they're talking about, I saw a thing on ESPN today where they're talking about the game clock is the clock on the field. I'm confused now. And I don't even know which clock I should be watching. So, but, yeah, it's, it's wild to just how that's, how that's played out because I thought they'd drop in the ranks. I just didn't think they'd drop out of the top 25 altogether. And we never really have seen, I mean, yes, if you lose a game and get upset in the first week, it happens. But you, I've never really seen a team win a game and then drop out of

the top 25. And yes, before we get into Michigan, Oklahoma, that's another notable game this weekend, another game in Ann Arbor, which is going to have a lot of eyes on it because of what happened last time. There was a game there in Michigan. The big 10 is expanding its replay reviews. Did you see this raft? So all television broadcast of games have officiated by the league by Big 10 crews beginning this Saturday's contest. The league previously had announced that it was expanding replay access to broadcast of Friday night games only, which we're going with three contests this past week. But however, this announcement comes on the heels of that controversial ending in our, our, this past week. So the big 10, just kind of covering their own bases, I think, in this way, just because it was only going to be these set games. Now it's every single game with a big 10 officiating crew. That's interesting. Yeah. Now I'm glad they're doing that. I, I, it needs, I don't think it's one of those where you can just, well, we didn't have the coverage there. So I'm glad that they're, they're, they've decided to expand it the way they have. So yeah, we,

it's, I'll tell you what, it's crazy that we just completed a week one of the season. We've already got all these storylines. So I'll tell you what that Oklahoma Michigan game. I'm excited to watch that game because I think there's a good chance, you know, Oklahoma runs away with it. But then if you're Michigan, all you've been, all you've been being told all week, it is like undeserving. On the game, got an extra second. So if I'm, if I'm coach, winning him, I'm sitting there. I'm liking this because you're building a little bit of a fire with my team to like, Hey, people are saying we didn't deserve that. And so I always, I always try to think from not only like the X's and O's of it, but I like the mental, the mental part of the game. I think the mental part of football is always interesting. And when you're a coach, you're always kind of looking for that. I mean, they're going to tell you that, that they're not. But if you're a coach, you love it when, when a team, when the newspapers or people are bashing your team, oh my gosh, that, that is the easiest right there. When, when, when, when the media and the fans and the people watching

from the outside are saying stuff about your team, it's negative. Oh, when you're the head coach, you got to smile on your face because you know, your team is going to go out and probably play pretty good that next week to prove, to prove them wrong, which is always kind of fooled me a little bit with Nebraska over the past 20 years because I always thought that eventually that fire would grow so much. And we're still kind of waiting on it. So I'm hoping that maybe this will be that year where that fire will finally be like, okay, you know, we're tired of always being talked about now in top 25 games. We're tired of not winning the games. You know, so I'm hoping that this is where that fire builds. And you have that, you know, when the head coach has that little, that little smirk a little bit where you kind of know like, okay, a lot of people are down this, but my team's going to prove you wrong. So fingers crossed, fingers crossed. Nebraska's had those had winnable games against top 25 teams in the past. I mean, the one that comes to mind, we're talking about Michigan Nebraska just has the ball against the Michigan Wolverines fumbles the ball gives Michigan extra life and then falls in that game. That

was just a couple of and that was a controversial play where there's an all he was down or wasn't a fumble, but on the field as a fumble, they haven't given it to Michigan. Michigan takes the lead and wins one of those one score games. And that's one of those games that you look back on like should have could have would have, but like you said, built that fire up and somehow just put that behind you because you know when Nebraska after they play bowling green this week after they played North Dakota, Michigan state and then they go into that first ranking, which more than likely is going to be the Indiana who's just barring any crazy setbacks of her Indiana. There's going to be that graphic that shows up on the TV whether channel it is if it's on NBC Fox or whatever it may be, they're going to have that graphic ready to go Nebraska. It's been this many years since they beat a top 25 team. They're owing whatever it is now. I I've lost count because it's such a crazy number. They're going to have that ready to go early on and then in the in the game. They're going to have matching numbers. They're going to have on one side in Nebraska on the other side coach rule. I mean, they they both have not beat top 25 teams in forever.

So that graphics going to be up and it's going to be seen. And that's where it's like eventually that fire has got to get to a point to where it's like I don't I but Nebraska has been so I have like these games that go through my head over the past 20 years of just the curse of Nebraska. I mean, was it was it Terrence none that had the catch and about what it would be Texas Texas. Yeah, Rudy. Yeah, Rudy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, what it be Texas. Yeah, but it's just these games over the years where Nebraska, I mean, you hate to say cursed, but there's just the way they've lost games, the way, you know, just crazy stuff that has happened. But that's where in my mind where it's like, okay, you got you, you can't let it go into the last possession in the last four minutes of the game. I know there's always talk about how how these are going to be big 10 games. They're going to go into the fourth quarter. But I think you take the mentality, get them out of

the way in the third quarter and not put your team in that predicament in the in the because things tend to go weird for Nebraska late in the fourth quarter. So if I'm Nebraska, I'm like, I'm not preaching, you know, what was it? What was it? Couple years back the three that was the movie they played the three more points. I can't remember. I can't remember. I thought that was the most ludicrous dumbest thing ever. And the reason why I thought that was because I'm like, no, we don't want just three more points to win. Chasing three, chasing three, Rudy, Rudy, come in and clutch whoever's idea that was I'm saying it right now. That was the dumbest idea. How about chasing 21? Yeah, chasing three. I don't want to chase three. I want to chase 21. I want to be I want to be done with five minutes left in the fourth quarter. I'm going to be up by 14, 17 points. And then you don't have to put the fates of your team by something crazy happening like a blocked punt or punting the ball the wrong way or

crazy stuff like that. So I would I wish they would have named that show chasing 21 because chasing three. I was like, are you kidding me? No, I want to be I want to be up at more than eight points with four minutes left in the fourth quarter. Well, in chasing three, I mean, you want to you judge I'm putting the ball in the in zone, not just kicking field goals. Field goals is always that safety net if it drives stalls. Yeah, you know, chasing three, you're chasing the you want to get in the end zone dumbest idea in the history. So that was crazy. Sorry. You mentioned some of those, you know, those losses like heartbreaking losses for Nebraska and I'll tie this into one of the college football games that happened this past weekend here. So Tony White is the defensive coordinator at Florida State. He allowed 430 passing yards against SMU to Kevin Jennings this past Monday. The most recent college football game to be played Nebraska has allowed 430 plus yards passing in only four times since 1995. So I bring up heartbreaking losses. One of these I remember watching some of them. I wasn't alive for so 1995 1998 they gave up 430 plus yards passing to La Tech. Oh, Tim Rite, Troy Edwards, whoo, they were on fire that day. That was the

first one. I was there 2004 against Texas Tech. Oh, yeah. Is that a Crab tree one or was that before Crab tree? That was before Crab tree. So this was probably after King Cliff Kingsbury between Cliff Kingsbury and Graham Harrow. Yeah, who is that quarterback? They always had gunslingers down. That's the thing. And that was at that time. 2015 against Southern Miss. That was, I believe it in Nick Mullins year when Nick Mullins was on. Good bowl there. And then 2018 Northwestern. That was the Flynn Nagel went running the Flynn Nagel game at Evanston and Clayton Thorson in quarter back. How did that happen? And that was a game. You know, when you mentioned chasing three Nebraska was up double the two scores in that game. And you're able to you had a chance to really just kind of step on it and put the game to rest and hold on to it. Like you said, lead by two or three possessions with under five minutes ago. Big play after big play after big play force over time in the Northwestern wins. That's one of those that kind of is a you know, the heartbreaking losses for Nebraska because yes, Papis Gerald, Northerson. But the

names we mentioned there, the high octane offences of Texas Tech, Southern Miss, a team that was pass happy back in the 2010s, La Tech, you know, that was their thing back in the 90s. And then Clayton Thorson in Northwestern who just found ways to win games and in a game that game was unbelievable, unbelievable at that point. So that's a game that I highlight just very heartbreaking in me as, you know, unbelievable. It's crazy. I mean, that just shows me even more how great Nebraska football fans are. I mean, any other team in the country is cursed to say Ben and not really doing all that much. You're not getting 80,000. You're not getting 70,000, 75. You're not getting this. It just amazes me how loyal Nebraska fans are. I mean, it's just it's crazy. It's incredible. And it's crazy. You can I can say 1995 La Tech and you go, you remember, you remember that game. And that's just one one game out of several. You've been a part of and bin at it as general. So, wrap, we're going to go to break. We're going to stop it on college football talk.

Actually, for that, you know, you're not going to have a show tomorrow to do high school football. You're not going to have a show on Friday, but Huskery, Amikets, Bulling Green, Bulling Green, obviously lost to Tarlington State, their first game of the year, 20 to 13 in that one. What's kind of your outlook for week two Nebraska clubs? We have one chapter of the story written. What's your kind of outlook for chapter two on, you know, Saturday night here Memorial State? They need to come out and do what's expected. I think you have your starters out. Hopefully, before the end of the first half, there's no reason why there should be starters playing going into the second half of this game. I mean, they're not, I mean, the best player on their team is their head coach, probably at his age. Eddie George. So I mean, if you're Nebraska, I mean, you can talk about the coachling go about how this is a tough team. Be aware of this. Be aware of that. Be aware of that. But behind closed doors, you're saying, all right, we got to get our third. Yeah, I guess we have a little bit of a fourth string still at 105, but this is the game.

You make it quick. You make sure that that Kaelin and the Teap get their snaps. So yeah, I know playing with your food. There should be no, there's, I mean, if there's any reason of Nebraska, it goes into the second half and they're within like seven to 10 points. I mean, that's a bad showing. I mean, Nebraska needs to go in. If they're the, if they're the good team, you know, what they're talking about, you know, they've got to go and they got to show that. So this is one of those where I would fully expect it to be like a, I don't know, 56 to three games, 63 to nothing, something where it's just, maybe they score touched on late, but I don't, I don't see any reason why this game is dragged into the second half. And bowling green was struggled last year in, in Mac play and everything. Like you said, just like we said, chasing three, just continue to handle business, business trip, and then move on to the next you can order code in the, they better be chasing 63 this week. You heard it here from Chris Raff. He's expecting 60 point. He's expecting a 60 burger on the

board there. But on the other side, we're going to talk some more football as it's opening night of the NFL season. They also have a game in Australia tomorrow, Friday, technically in Melbourne. But we'll talk about that one as well because Aaron Donnell will be playing, but you have the Super Bowl rematch going on as we speak. He's Chris Raff, Nick Wyman, Raff's good take on sports. We'll be right back here on 93.7. The tick. Back to Raff's good take on sports on 93.7. The ticket with all the good takes you need. Here is your host Chris Raff. Welcome back. We're absolutely on sports 93.7. The ticket ticket FM.com live at 1040. No streaming. We don't have the black border with the ticket low going. Did you notice that? No, we added that to the streams recently. Which one? When, when you stream in, when you, DeMorney or anybody else, the background, the background was like the ticket. Oh, yeah, I've seen the background. Yeah. Okay. I was curious. I've never said anything. I was curious. You did. You did me. Okay. I don't. You said it's amazing. I said, no, it's double amazing. I think I don't know if I brought up you. I don't remember. Then again, like,

you DeMorney, it all kind of blends together. You do a lot of shows. You're a pretty popular guy. I guess so. When you kind of run a, you kind of run a huge, you're kind of like Ron Bar of Lincoln Nebraska. Do you remember him? He would do the late night sports show or whatever. He was very popular back in the 90s. He came to the union and did his show one time. I remember going to it, but Ron Bar. So you are like, you Ron Bar of Lincoln Nebraska. I was thinking like the Scott Hansen here because I was thinking so many different, you know, so I was going to. I always thought of this. Like on Friday nights, like, you know how all the high school games, they stream all the high school games on the puddle, you two, whatever. There should be like a show where there's like any preps red zone where you could have like you get okay from Huddles. Yes, YouTube and you can go live and you can like, oh, we're going to go to we're going to battle Creek here where the battle Creek Braves are in the red zone. You can speak to that one and it's like, oh, we're going to eight man actually get a touchdown here or like, I don't know how you'd be able to time it up because

you want no one to click over to see you also don't know with you need like multiple eyes. I mean, you've never seen the production with NFL Red Zone. It's it's not just Scott Hansen watching 10 games at once. He has a whole entire staff. So it'd be a bit of a challenge. That's been the cool thing that I've been watching on YouTube. I've been watching my friends son Maddox play down in Douglas Alabama. So I was able to watch a little bit of his game on Friday nights. All the I also love like the different production elements to high school games. Like some of them obviously are still kind of bare bones. It's high school. Sometimes the broadcasting gets a little, you know, it's it's the first time some of those kids have been up in the booth, but give them credit for being out there because everybody starts somewhere. But some of the schools do kind of put a little bit of production value in it. I always enjoy that different camera angles, the score bug. If some of them don't even have the scoreboard and stuff like that sometimes, I'm trying to gauge when do I go to Chattanooga? Yeah, I live an hour and a half from Chattanooga and little little manning, Marshall Manning. He's the second string quarterback behind the quarterback.

Keaton Croucher, I believe his name is. I think he's going to Vanderbilt or somewhere like that. He's he's a really good quarterback. But Marshall will be the starter next year. So I'm thinking about maybe making the trek because they say who I've spoke to, the sheriff just sits in the crowd. So so I could maybe sit like three rows behind of him and you know take a couple I they probably don't allow pictures. He probably just wants to be a dad, but it's still be pretty cool to go to a football game and be sitting on the same bench as this sheriff. Yeah, not not very often you go to a high school football game and you're sitting in the bleachers alongside Peyton Manning in his his family. So maybe maybe one day maybe you never know maybe one day like maybe one day like meet John Oway maybe Peyton will bring John alongside for the for the ride and you get lucky. Maybe that's where paths cross for the first time in in forever. But NFL seasons here finally, Raf and we have a game going on super well rematch last year. See all sea ox at Lumen field host in the New England Patriots. Interesting storylines out of this one because there's only been one touchdown score throughout the

game. End of the third quarter Patriots 10 sea hawks three. The biggest storyline of this one is the health of Sam Darnold who exit the game after only five snaps hip injuries with their calling it still questionable return. His stats after those five snaps are one for two 13 yards zero touchdown zero picks and got sacked once and now drew lock the former Denver Broncos quarterback former Missouri Tiger. He's been in for the you know majority of the game now if he gets hurt, Jalen Milro would be the emergency quarterback them. But so far only one score and the Patriots are so far getting revenge against Seattle. Yeah, an interesting opener especially being the Super Bowl rematch. I feel like this is the rematch that nobody wanted to see. For a week one game, I think I just don't think there's been a lot of electricity behind it. I mean, I think back to other week one games and you're just like, oh yeah, that's going to be a heck of a game. I really, and maybe it's just me. I just didn't have that excitement. I really

think that if they would have win sea hawks rams, I think I'd have been more inclined. I mean, but then they didn't know. You know, I mean, still had you know, Miles Garrett, but having the return of air in Donald, oh my goodness. I mean, that would have been a race. Well, he's not, he's not playing week one anyways. He's sitting out. He said, he said, no, okay, still he would have been. But if that opportunity would have been there, you know, but and he might have came back earlier knowing if it would have been, I don't know. Heck, I just, I just look at this game tonight and just like, I just don't I'm glad the NFL is back. But New England, versus Seattle, I said to that Super Bowl. And once was enough for me. And I'm looking at some of the games the home games Seattle had on the schedule here. I mean, the chiefs are on there. The bears. I thought the bears are a good one. I did it based off of last year. What they were able to do. It would just make sense. I mean, the Cowboys always a draw. That was there, obviously, on Sunday night and it feels like every year they're on Sunday football to begin a season. Like you said, the rams, the rams, I think that's kind of a layup there. But they like to save some of the divisional games for the end of the year, which they are. You know what, you know what happened tonight? Hmm. Steeler's fans reality hit. Yeah. Mike Tomlin on the pregame show.

AD was like, this just in feel right. He was the coach for almost half my life. And then I saw posts of Steelers fans going, this, this isn't right. Our coach is on NBC. But I guess they had to go through that transition with coward too. But man, I'll tell you what, that's a weird feeling for a lot of Steelers fans tonight because I mean, Mike Tomlin was pretty much the man there for, close to 20 years. But yeah, reality set in. It's kind of like when New England, Bill Bellicke went away. I mean, that was just weird. And then he was on ESPN for a little bit. That's probably a weird scenario because I mean, it was just it was just weird seeing him retire for that short. I mean, now he's in North Carolina. I mean, it's probably the same feeling Alabama fans when Nick Saban walked out the door because this is S. Yet. I mean, Mike Tomlin, obviously the only one one super bullet made the playoffs each and every single year with that Steelers group or had a winning record every year. But just like you said, a handful of coaches your entire lifetime. And then

you see him on TV. And I think he admitted some of you plays Minecraft or something like that was like his whole thing or whatever I saw. And it's like you see him without the Steelers kind of letterman jacket that Steelers hat. Yeah, it was a little different because I mean, Mike Tomlin. I mean, I saw the end of Bill Cower when they beat the C. OX and that's super rule. But Mike Tomlin was the coach. I remember seeing them against the Cardinals and Big Ben being there in Heinz Ward and St. Tony Holmes making that catch. Him putting his leg out and tripping Jacobi Jones that one time. If you remember that, you remember that against the one trying to trip the kickoff return or whatever it was. So it's such a weird situation for them and the Steelers because yes, they still have a team. They still have Aaron Rodgers, but not seeing Mike Tomlin on the sidelines is going to be it's different. And then having that seen him on the first game of the year on the sidelines for NBC, you're just like, whoa, this feels different. And I don't think a really reality really doesn't set in until you see something like that. And just like, oh man, you know, I think

I felt the same way that you have to always retired and Brian Grease is going out to the start. You're like, whoa, whoa, whoa. But did you have that same feeling? I mean, like you talk about season openers with being super role rematch. This is only the third time this has ever happened. I don't know if I talked about this with you last night. We, oh yeah, you did. We talked, we talked about the Wednesday night openers. That's what we talked about. Oh yeah, Wednesday night. So that was 2012. They've had, they've all said Wednesday games because of COVID. That's what we talked about. I remember, but this is only the third super role rematch that happened to begin a season. So 2016, you had Denver, Carolina, Denver won. That was a weird one because that was Trevor Simiens first career starts after Peyton Manning, any Janavits had a touchdown that one. Jan Oh, yeah, touchdown. That we had 22 Andy Janovitches. We never lose. So then you had that one. And then the first year of the NFL merger, you had the Vikings being the chiefs in rematch. Those are the only three times, including second one. Broncos. Oh, that was okay. Sorry. I just said, sorry. I was thinking there

was three on top of this one. My bad. You were thinking of you were thinking too much of, yeah, 20 team follow Andy Janovitches. Yeah, get 22 Andy Janovitches. You never lose. Nebraska said some pretty good fullbacks in the NFL. I mean, like Johnny Stan, a former quarterback amid what a transition that was. Man, I was a big Johnny Stan guy. Cleveland Browns for a while. Oh, I thought he was the future Nebraska quarterback. Then he got to Nebraska and they did really one of the big quarter. I was like, he's, hey, that's another time and other place. I still wonder a lot about Nebraska and their use of their quarterbacks. But yeah, that was a heck of a transition. And he was playing a lot. And then I believe he injured his leg. And I think that was the end of that. But yeah, that he made a career playing fullback in the NFL. That's awesome. Well, Raf, guess what? We got a tie ball game here on tonight. So basically the first touchdown came early from the Patriots to your touchdown pass. 10 nothing at that point. And then you obviously have a touchdown then here. 45 yard strike from Drew Lock Jackson Smith, your jigba 10 to 10. We've about 11 and a half minutes

to play in this one. So, you know, yes, it has been the most thrilling game, the most exciting game on paper. Superbow revisited. Exactly. And maybe Seattle's defense. It's a very different game, I think, too, because you don't have to walk her there. Clink, who be acts not calling plays that on the off the side there. He's now with the Raiders. So there's a little bit of new. Obviously, now throw Drew Lock in the fold. He's been actually pretty good as a good backup quarterback. There he's had some memorable moments. I was just going to say he's a serviceable backup quarterback. I mean, he's he's got the arm talent. He showed, you know, flashes when he played for the Broncos. And I'll tell you what, he's he's a great teammate. I mean, he's not made any waves about being the second team quarterback. I remember when they won the Superbow last year, he celebrated, you know, like, like he wasn't starting quarterbacking inside. I wish all the best to do like. I mean, he's a good dude. Yeah, Adam is very there. And then yeah, things just didn't work out in Denver. I mean, different coaching changes. And they're obviously where he was part of the name. It's a quarter. They tried. They tried. They tried. They tried 13 to 17 in the touchdown so far. And

that with that 40 yard strike. So that is the score right now in the fourth quarter. We'll see what happens going on. But we're going to break on the other side. We're up at the show here because no raps could take tomorrow. So we'll get an extra special raps could take on life here on the ticket. So come out next. Well, that's the wrap of the show. 93.7 the ticket ticket FM dot com. We'll be right back for raps could take on sports on 93.7 the ticket back to raps. Good take on sports on 93.7 the ticket with all the good takes you need. Here is your host Chris Rath. Welcome back raps could take on sport one more segment here 93.7 the ticket and the ticket FM dot com. Monitoring that season. I was going to say Thursday night football. But my days are completely thrown off rap because there. Game is on a Wednesday. Yesterday I thought it was Wednesday. Thought it was Monday. So it's a little funky week with the Labor Day weekend. And then football starting on a Wednesday. You have a game again tomorrow. Thursday night football. However, Friday day football in Melbourne between the four winners and the rams. No air in Donald there. But

I got to keep on remembering that that game is happening tomorrow night. And it's on Netflix and people are going to talk about that as it is. But it is what it is. But it's me weird watching a game here at this time where it's dark outside. Starting to get dark outside. It's a day. It's the next day in Australia. Like they're offering on a different time time period, different day, different calendar there because it's going to be Friday afternoon football. But Thursday night football game back in the States. That's crazy. I it's just weird. I wanted to bring this up to you before we get out of here. So you know the pusher alerts you get from like apps on your phone. Yep. So the the ESPN alert for Sam Donald's injury. The wording was a little funky. I don't know if you got the same one as me. I did not. So I proofread it. The way it is. The way it's worded is not great. It says Cocks Corbett Sam Donald in parentheses hip. It says ruled out for the rest of season. And then it goes open or after suffering injury on the first drive. So you see season out for the season. And it's like, what's like how how do you already know that?

But no, it's sound it doesn't mean I'm not going to play doctor here. But like as a team that needs Sam Donald, we saw what he was able to do last year. But but an interesting kickoff game. But NFL seasons back. Raff. Next week. You and me will be here in these same Xbox. And there's exact same time. I'm going to tell you this. I hope that I'm back in Alabama. But I'm not sure if that's going to happen. But I hope that I am back in Alabama next Monday at this time because that would be something spectacular taking place. But probably I'm going to be here with you next Monday. And we're going to be fighting it out. Now we have to put up a barrier between us. I know there's we got two seats between us here in the studio. We might have to put up a barrier. Bring your Broncos gear and do what you want to do. I'm probably just going to be I mean, it's in my brain that day. So my I have to bring a hoodie. But what we'll see. I mean, it's game one. I know a lot of people buy stock into the first game. It's like all the seasons over. I mean, go back to last year. The Raiders beat the Patriots week one. What happened to both those teams after that one? Geno Smith did not play well the rest of the year.

The Raiders end up having the first all pick the Patriots after losing week one of the Raiders made around the Super Bowl. Well, you can't be undefeated if you don't win a week one. Yeah. And I mean, there's only one team that that dolphins team still pop in the champagne every year when all the teams go, you know, losing their first game of the year. So in last year was a weird year. Everybody was there wasn't really enough. Quick last year. I feel I mean, every year feels like there's one team who continues like six seven eight games win streak in the year. And everyone's kind of keeping their eye on them. But it's very hard, especially in NFL because we've seen in the past any given Sundays is the slogan that everybody always throws around. But Raff, 10 to 10 so far, I'm assuming you're going to get out of here and catch the end of this one because yes, it's not the most high scoring affair. Not the most interesting matchup. I mean, it's a Super Bowl rematch. How our teams are a little different. But it's it can be exciting ending more than likely. I think that kind of salvages things or my head might hit the pillow and I might read about it tomorrow morning. We'll see my head can't hit the pillow because I'm here for another two more hours. So dedication. I will dedication. It's my job. Oh, I'm bad. I'll be in the same chair. It's

all midnight. So I hope the games over my midnight, something the power might have to go out there in Seattle, which hopefully they don't have the same. It's Lumen field. It's it's can't whatever can't even feel it is Lumen field. Don't that mean light in French? I don't know. Is it? I was like I just made that up. I was like, I don't know did Lee about French, even like took it in high school. I was I took Spanish and I was I was not good. I was not good. I wasn't either. It's the same boat here. Raff before I let you get out of here, what is your good take on September 9th of the year 2026. All right, everybody. Today's Raff's good take goes out to Mike Biggerora. Mike has been a business man here in Lincoln for man. I'm almost going to say over 20 years now. The years went by so fast, but I'll tell you what, when it comes to a quality person, a quality guy, a quality friend, quality husband, just quality person. Mike is that guy. Just proud

that our paths crossed so many years back to call your friend as a true privilege and you are a true just a great person here in Lincoln, Nebraska. So Mike, you are Raff's good take. Happy birthday. Yep, there you go. And that's, uh, well, not see tomorrow because we'll have high school football with Omaha, North Lincoln East and then we'll have a Husker volleyball post game show. They have three games in three days and officially finally home. Have you seen the photos with newly renovated Bob DeVanney just did today looks nice just did today that's pretty sharp, pretty sharp looks like they just sort of extended back to where the seats used to go up to where they cut it. So they meant so. Yeah, it looks, it looks nice. I I've always said that if I was coach Williams, I would try to make it a chance to move the girl women's basketball team back to Bob DeVanney and play their home games there. Yeah, it could be the first couple games of the season could be a little jingles volleyball season dips into basketball season. Obviously the host state basketball

there as well. So to be a little injured, I just love that. I love that setup. I mean, I love the way it looks. I think you're a little bit smaller or rene as well. It's not as cavernous when you don't have a lot of people at the games, but I just think that I think Bob DeVanney would be a great place for the women's basketball team to play at my first Husker basketball game Nebraska defeated Kevin Durant in Texas. Hello there. Upset. That was 20 and the 2000s, late 2000s. So I believe my good buddy Aaron Davis attended that game. Our paths not crossed them, but it was it was a memorable one. It was a cold one. I'm a snowman. Well, he might have saw you and I petting him. Oh, what's up there, Mr. Nick? No, I don't think anybody petted me like that. I'm not a dog here. 80s a petter. He's still a grab us. He's about to cheat. He goes, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Mr. Ralph. Do you have a pet? Yes, Louis. Okay. So that they Louis the Frenchy. Louis the Frenchy. So he treats you like a Frenchy. Yeah, he kind of does. And it does. Well, hopefully you treat Ozzy,

the Ozzy and company the same. Oh, Ozzy and love love. You guys better be listening. And they always are. They're on your graphics always well. So we're out for the lets you get out of your coming up next. Don't plan hour 93.7 to get to get up out of that.
