1:01Undesplay last night down in Dallas, Texas the Republicans having You can use the term historic midterm convention not something that Republicans have done, but as usual with Trump Trump's not a guy that makes decisions based off of well, how do we always do it? He just looks at the landscape and says well, what makes sense? What's gonna be a good thing to do and and he doesn't worry himself with tradition if you will and so He had decided announced believe it was last year Well at least last year that this was something that they were gonna be doing and there's just been a lot of Speculation as to all right. What's the presentation gonna be here? And is it something that will quote move the needle you know make a difference as we roll into the midterms Particularly given that he's not on the ballot and that's when Republicans Get the most out of Trump at the ballot boxes when he is actually on the ballot and there's a great deal of fear that

2:09Not being on the ballot will Not Benefit Republicans you combine that with the fact that a lot of Republican voters and Trump voters are Lacking any sort of excitement for Republicans and one of the most detrimental Deliveries if you will from the Republican party or or I guess lack of delivery is this safe act thing I mean The number of Trump voters and Republican voters that it isn't I mean to some degree it's a what's the point? Of electing Republicans if if they can't get something done that 80% of Americans want done support Including 70 plus percent of Democrats and that is proving who you are when you go to vote and if Republicans in charge of the Senate can't get that done When we're talking about something as significant and sacred as vote voting

3:15You know the voting and its integrity and the context of democracy and That's the perspective some Republicans have like is a great ride Got a lot of great stuff done under Trump, but clearly once he's gone. I mean even with you know Trump's still president You have this component of the Republican party that is just like now We're it's done. It's over with Trump air is done We're going back to the old ways of doing things in which reaching across the aisle and giving Democrats what they want is more important than Delivering on the promises we made and and that's a turn off for a lot of Republican voters that Surface last night will play some of the audio where Trump you know he's talking about Mike Johnson and all history is gonna Show is the greatest speaker that we've ever had which I think virtually every year that heard that Think that's a joke of the declaration, but I understand this is yeah You know Trump really lionizes people when he introduces them or he destroys them one of the two and

4:20So I think most people don't believe Trump actually believe that but it's just one of those things that you say when he interviews soon No, you had booze people booing In the crowd. I mean that this is the guy That is the Republican leader of the United States and this isn't some Rand O Individual that has it done you know something that rubbed the GOP the wrong way I mean that this is a leader of the Republican party and at a Republican convention you get people booing the guy If that doesn't give a signal I mean that That doesn't signal the relationship between active Republican voters we were talking about Republican voters many of which drove all you know from hundreds of miles If not thousands of miles to be at this event these are dedicated Republican activists

5:20These are the people that are desperately needed to do the door knocking to make postings on social media trying to get people Excited about Republicans retaining control of the House in the Senate and at an event that is a rally the whole point and Purpose is to focus on the good yet you have booing amongst that grouping of individuals with one of the two leaders of the Republican party that that is not a Good sign for the Republicans I Imagine that it's probably easy for The establishment to dismiss it as okay, yeah, we get it you're disgruntled and so forth This isn't a random crowd at some state fair in which you have a mixture of Citizen some of which aren't even affiliated with your political party. I mean these are the Trident true And I think perhaps

6:25what some of the establishment is Choosing to see as a handful of disgruntled Republicans is greatly underestimating The Disconnect Between the Republican party as it once upon a time was and as people like Thune want it to be once again and the voters out there The the announcement the Trump made last night that is getting the most attention and Certainly is going to stir this is gonna be interesting to watch and to listen to particularly with host of shows this $5,000 dividend that he announced if you're not in the loop on this last night. He's like hey By the way, we're doing so awesome got all this tariff cash that's throwing in you know, that's been flowing in and so Just like shareholders you folks are gonna as long as Republicans

7:28When in November keep the house keep the Senate Adult Americans are gonna get a $5,000 check from the tariffs Now This is interesting from a number of perspectives one It I mean, it's a straight-up quit pro quo of Hey, if you you know you keep us in power and you'll be rewarding This isn't anything new incidentally. I have the AP Trump makes dubious claim Suddenly the media has a problem with this now when Biden told the people of Georgia Hey, you elect Warnoch and give me control of the Senate and I'll make sure you all get a $2,000 check There was no problem with that whatsoever, but suddenly the media is going to really scrutinize this Within the Trump voting base you're gonna have a real divide on this for a number of reasons and it's

8:34It's a it's a very interesting tactic being utilized by Trump in order to clearly Swing things in favor of Republicans coming up in the midterms and and recognizing what demographic is he really focusing on here? Like who is this meant to stimulate and get out there? Trump shakes up midterms announces five grand dividend say Tactical Term there being utilized for every adult American if GOP wins US House and Senate in the midterm election here he is last night in Dallas at the midterm convention Making the announcement What we're doing is because we've done so well and because our country is making so much money That only I can make this promise to you and here is my promise if the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate both of them

9:40because of our economic tremendous economic success like in history we've never had anything like what's happening But because of our tremendous strength and success economically I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for five thousand dollars All right, so that I say the big headline Out of the gates as I mentioned This isn't anything that's not been done before when Biden was president. There was the special election. It was right after the general election and he was Wanting Georgia to go fully Democrat give him so Democrats could control everything and

10:40He had pledged down in Georgia that special election telling the voters if you give me that power I'm gonna give everybody a two thousand other check and so this now that the promise of money in exchange for a win Isn't anything new and in some forms It is obviously has gone on for a very long time, but in Different formulas. So for example You know vote vote for me and I'll cut your taxes. You'll have more money now That's your own money and it's less money. They're taking away from you But but the dangling of dollars they hey, you will have more money Regardless of who's it is you will have more money if you vote for me Now this involves tariffs or this is a different situation which I think makes it a thinker JD Vance after the convention was asked about this by Brett bear and noting what I just I think are the very very obvious

11:46criticisms that are going to come along with An announcement like this Mr. Vice President. I heard the Trump dividend raised some eyebrows $5,000 for every adult citizen if the house wins wait erase my eyebrows Both hands went up at the same time But if you guys don't need it this is the American middle class, but if your Republicans win the house $5,000 for every adult citizen So you do the quick math that's about $1.3 trillion. I can hear the critics heads exploded They're saying out loud I guarantee you President is bribing voters to vote for Republicans to take over the house and then he's bankrupting the country because the deficit debt is huge and inflation would come back if this comes into place So how do you answer those criticisms? I say first of all what the president's talking about is fundamentally a dividend for American workers We're taking in an extraordinary round of revenue because the president of the United States is actually standing up to both foreign Companies but also foreign countries who've been taking advantage of America's workers for pretty much my entire life

12:49All of these tariffs. What is a tariff Brett a tariff is when the president of the United States says if you want to undercut The wages of American workers you want to ship American jobs overseas You're going to pay a big fat penalty when you try to bring that stuff back into the United States of America Those penalties have generated a lot of revenues. They've helped us pay down debt But the president's just saying is if you keep it going to the American people if you keep us in power and allow us to continue to do these things Then you're going to share in some of the benefit of this incredible wealth that we're creating in the United States of America I don't think it's a controversial idea It's actually the president of the United States saying we're all working together. We're all the same team And if we continue to create wealth that wealth is going to go back to the American people All right a few things about this This is definitely going to be a Conversation piece amongst those who have supported and voted for Donald Trump because that there are I can

13:51The This idea was floated some time ago by Trump This was put out there around the time that the tariff dollars started coming in and there was Almost an off hand reference to hey, I don't know. Maybe we'll just cut checks for people That began a discussion One of the perspectives And it's one that I hold Is it should go to pay down the debt That that we have a severe debt problem we have a deficit problem which of course leads to a debt problem. We have a mass 40 trillion dollars which is largely part of our Economic problems that we have in this country when it comes to inflation when it comes to interest rates It is not helpful

14:54And anything that can be done in order to start instead of continuing to add to the debt Actually start pulling I mean just even the deficit itself would be a great start and then from there if you Low and behold somehow actually end up with a surplus start paying off the debt with that But there are those of us that just think long term. That's the way to do things if we're because the whole idea here is $5,000 dividend check to Americans and that is to help us that is to make things better Well, there's short term fixes and then there's long meaningful fixes It's the difference between you know, you're somebody in debt You have demonstrated a history of very poor Spending habits and for that you are in debt and then one day you get you know somebody gives you a $5,000

15:57And you can use it to go out and continue your right look at it's like man. I got some money I can even go that spend more or You can do the responsible thing may not be as fun But put it towards all the debt that you have in your personal life in order to begin Getting yourself out of a hole and there are a lot of Americans that is fun as it would be to get a $5,000 check That's a short term fun thing in fact. I would argue most of those people who view it that way most Americans that Would rather see it go towards putting down the debt aren't gonna go out and spend it anyhow in the way that a lot of Americans are they're either going to pay off any debt that they have themselves in their personal life or They're going to invest it in a way for it to grow they're going to do more Responsible perhaps less fun things with it because that's the mindset of people like that Like I said, that's a category I fall in

16:59Not that I wouldn't use a little bit of it to have fun maybe You know I Figure I'm getting some of the taxes back. I know it's not a tax it's terribly You know I've had so much like so many of you have taken by the government you know, maybe I'll just have a little fun but There are also those people who just Aside from doing the fiscally long-term responsible thing of taking those dividends and or you know that the tariffs and putting it to pay off the debt They just don't believe government should be doing this sort of thing anyhow. It's Unsavery it is irresponsible. It really is for a lot of people Interpreted not much different than Democrats and you know, hey vote for us and we're gonna jack up minimum wage vote for us And we're going to Give you this free stuff. We'll give you free benefits. We'll expand Medicaid

18:01You know, we'll just and and that's what unfortunately elections become is not about who governs best not about who it is Once in power has your liberties in my it's who can offer you the most free stuff It's like two parents going through a divorce and they have shared custody and each one wants to be loved most by the kids And so they just you know let the kids all let you stay up all night long Oh, yeah, well, I'll let you eat candy for dinner and says back and forth all in an effort to win favor of the child to stick it to the other side But in reality it's the child who suffers child me at the time think boy, this is great I Got the two parents vying for my love offering me all the free stuff under the world tell me I can do anything I want But generally speaking that does not result in a well-balanced childhood leading to a Responsible adult in life

19:03And it is for a lot of people an uncomfortable perspective of Two political parties neither of which just you may disagree with this But this is a perception some people will have it is an uncomfortable perception of there's no party any longer that is about hey, no We're not we're not about just giving you stuff. That's not what we are. We're about doing what is right constitutionally what is right? You know long term for solid meaningful governance This is a mature relationship not just two political parties doing everything they can to be the quote most popular By offering you free stuff Now many people are gonna note this is a little bit different that this isn't Taking from one group of taxpayers like the rich

20:05In order to buy votes from people who aren't rich by saying oh, we're gonna really stick it to those You know those citizens you know that guy that good that's responsible for the company that you work with oh He's got too much money. We're gonna take more money from him and and because we're going to do that We're going to be able to give you all sorts of free things so You know forcing him to pay his fair share there are some people and this is clearly the position that's being taken Have you heard JD Vance that that's not what this is and There is some truth to that midterm convention in Dallas announced that as long as Republicans stay in power he will Delivery $5,000 dividend based off of the pool of money being the tariff issue with The tariff dollars that have been coming in now some people may be like wait I thought the court said that the tariff thing that he couldn't do that those were only certain tariffs There's still tariffs underway clearly. I mean as we've seen the situation with Canada apparently if you're a crown royal fan You can't get that anymore you won't be able to as long as this tariff thing's going on. It's been put on a band list but

21:13This is the announcement that was made This is a I find it interesting because it is different To a degree In terms of where the money is going to come from Now often part of the problem with issuing checks to people is that you're actually paying for that check You're you it's coming out of your Pocket or your grandkids or great grandkids pocket in and and In terms of spending and Congress and this is a different quote pool of money this isn't debt This could be used to go pay down debt And some people will know well, yeah, this is our money because it was taken from us already by way of tariffs and

22:14There's a spectrum of truth to that but that is side it it isn't Taking away from your future money you could argue that well, it's just getting back Which is really the position that the Trump administration appears to be be taking here that this belong to you This isn't taxpayer dollars. This is something that these companies have had to pay from foreign countries because they have been taking advantage of Being able to pay very low wages and sometimes using slavery and so forth and and and harming the American people's marketplace Because of their ability to undercut Americans and so they're the ones who've actually paid this but you should benefit from it That doesn't necessarily mean that it's the healthy thing to do economically psychologically electorally

23:14But but it is a different transaction It's going to be interesting to see how much of a theme this is Going into the midterms. It is this going to is this The last we're gonna hear of it Other than maybe an occasional reference Or is this going to be a heavy heavy theme And leaning into all of the benefits of this now There is a very important question. Does Trump have the authority to just do this? I think it's interesting Trump Trump did not position this as oh Republicans have to stay in charge because I need Congress's permission to do this If you noticed and we played the audio earlier and I'm sure you'll hear it throughout the day that The reason this is tied to Republicans keeping control of Congress is because

24:17That will allow the Trump policies to stay in place Which is which will allow this to occur? So in other words the argument here without really specifying it is Hey, this is only the only reason that we're able to do this is because of Trump policies and if Democrats get in charge They're gonna undo Trump policies and that's gonna be harmful to the economy And so we may not be able to do this as opposed to specifically saying Congress has to be in power because they have to give me permission. Now, I don't know the answer to this I imagine Republicans Johnson and And elected Republicans are going to be asked this question can Trump just do this? Do you think you have to give him permission to do this? I imagine that some in the Senate like food will probably say no, he can't do it without our permission We don't know that we're gonna do it Which of course if that's the case that takes away the entire reason

25:17Politically speaking for throwing this out there If the whole point is to say vote to keep Republicans in charge and this is the benefit that you get financially But then you have Republicans in Congress that say We're not necessarily going to allow that to happen then it's irrelevant in terms of the The the I mean, I suppose some people might cross their fingers and vote in hope that Republicans in Congress will go ahead and and allow this to move forward But I think that there will be a big discussion about that and it's a healthy one Now if I'm the Democrats my response to this is This is Trump acknowledging that his policies have failed that Trump with his tariffs has been so disastrous that he's having to give people back money In order to get elected and you wouldn't have to do that if it had not been for your damaging economic policies now

26:18that is An inaccurate broad brush portrayal of what is going on But that's the position I would take if I were the Democrats and I suspect that they that they probably will Do that that this is all a sign of Trump admitting that his policies are a failure Christopher Nackie coming up in the seven o'clock hour off of the week the eight o'clock hour sponsor ABC books on North Glendstone Tomorrow the 25 years since the Attack the terrorist attack on the United States of America single largest deadliest attack on on our homeland and the history of Of that and of course I think it's amazing and surprising for a lot of people to see these stories pop up about Wait a minute. We are fortunate enough to have deputy director of the FBI Andrew Bailey with us and if I think of last last time Probably spoke with you as when you were attorney general if I had known that the next time we had you on the program

27:21It was as the deputy director of the FBI. I probably would have wondered how did that happen? What they make thank you for having me on my friend. I mean really just in from a personal perspective here I mean it shows you never know where you're going to end up and And you think about a year two ago where you were I mean, I remember I think it was just a couple years ago You're here in Christian County for Lincoln days and and if you've been to oh yeah, by the way You're gonna be deputy director of the FBI and a couple of years. You probably would have thought how the hell did that happen? Yeah, it's been a wild ride look I've always been dedicated to law enforcement both as a prosecutor state attorney general And now in a leadership role at the FBI and when President Trump asked me to do this job I thought you know, this is a way I can further and even more serve the the American public and the people of the state of Missouri by Ending the weaponization of government against political opponents and returning the FBI to its core mission and you saw The FBI performing its core mission in the wake of 9-11

28:25It certainly changed the FBI changed my life It you know, I was in the army and ended up volunteering to go to Iraq after that and it changed so many lives Across Missouri and across this country, and I'm excited to be a ground zero tomorrow to join in remembering and honoring The sacrifice that so many brave men and women made in response to the most deadly terror attack on our nation's history Explain if you would why it is that it takes so long to people You know people wondering they see these headlines about Khalid Sheikh Muhammad and like what his confession was just thrown out This guy hasn't even gone to trial yet. This is insane Why is it that that justice in that context as taken or is taking as long as it is? Well part of the issue is that the law itself has changed since 9-11 You'll remember some of the infamous Supreme Court rulings that said that Terrorists that were captured on the battlefield in Afghanistan and Iraq were owed constitutional rights under our constitutional system of government

29:28Which is you know, the stretches kind of the the the mind to consider that and so the law has changed and so the processes Have changes well, but what I would tell you is this whether they're caught in on foreign soil or caught domestically here in the United States before they commit terrorist attacks National security investigations and prosecutions are exceedingly complicated and rigorous because the Evidence that has to be a do is just often classified it has to go through special procedures and so the the frame work around which those cases happen is Much more complicated than the standard kind of run of the middle criminal case we're talking with deputy director of the FBI Andrew Bailey and You'd mention which is one of the top priorities of Cash Patel and the Trump administration and others is to end the Politization of law enforcement to stop utilizing Particularly on a federal level Law enforcement agencies as as a sword in a shield and for a very long time

30:30It's become evident to Americans that it is very one-sided particularly when it comes to elected officials and I want to get your response to people who say something I'm sure you've heard and I hear it all the time particularly when they're hearings and I know there are different jurisdictions at play But but so many Americans feel as if if you are a Democrat or if you are somebody that works on behalf of Democrats It doesn't matter you can get caught red handed and Nothing ever happens no no one thinks I mean I have people anytime there's talk about Fauci or any oh They'll get away with it. They're Unfortunately is this belief that there is no justice any longer. What do you say to those people? Well, I think that they're they're what they're saying is absolutely proven in the evidence that there was a two-tiered System of justice and that is what the American people rejected in November of 2024 when they elected president Donald Trump And he swept into office and an historic election with a promise to change the status quo just rubbed the status quo

31:35This mantle the status quo to replace it with a truly Equitable fair justice system that works for everyone and and rejected the two-tier System of justice and that's what we've done under cash pretails leadership We've reduced administrative burdens and new task force officer deputations at the FBI We've got two thousand seven hundred seventy new task force officers working under our system We've recre- decreased the murder rate nationwide by 20% and arrested more than 53,000 Violent of intercepts up 90% so look what happens when you dismantle the swamp when you in the reponization You put those people back to work fighting violent crime you can make a real difference in every day Missouri and lives and in the lives of every day Americans And I'm proud of the work we're doing under president Trump and director cash pretails leadership Earlier this year there were these reports that came out that were Regarding cash patella I guess job performance reports for lack of a better term and and it was yeah I mean it was clear what it was designed to do Make it sound like there was so much internal strife that he was such a train wreck and he have all these internal

32:41Problems and concerns and when you read through it. I just want to get your thoughts on this I found it very interesting because you know the reports indicator the report that That the those who really didn't like him it seemed to be very personality driven stuff Oh, well he likes to be in front of the camera He likes to this and that but even those that disliked him seemed to acknowledge well Yeah, things are actually better in terms of arrest and allocations of funds Priorities and I thought it was really interesting that the criticisms of him Seem to be more personality driven while acknowledging that actually things are actually running much better at the FBI Well, yeah, and I think you've seen this before right you started in the first Trump administration You see it now against director pretel where you start to dismantle the swamp you start to disrupt the status quo You start to change things and get people out of their comfort zones and the left wing runs to the media and Christfowl and starts making up accusations I would tell you as I work with director cash Mattel every day and he is on the job

33:44Attentive focused and driven and that's again. It's delivered real results for the American people We've increased arrests of violent offenders by 30% in one year last year alone We see more than three thousand two hundred fifty eight kilograms of fentanyl That's not to kill 247 million Americans. We would not be producing those results If we weren't on the job working focused and replacing the old two-tiered system of justice with real hard-nosed law enforcement dedication final question for Deputy director of the FBI Andrew Bailey with us this morning and then any final thoughts you may have What would you say to people who have become very cynical and say this is great? It's fantastic acknowledge that things are on the right track once again But once Democrats get back in charge. They're just gonna throw it right back to the way that it was before Well, look, I mean we're putting systems in place to mitigate against those risk making

34:44structural reforms that will make it difficult But if either the day the people get a say in this too and if the people want to go back to the old way of doing things They can express their opinions at the ballot box and certainly will but at the end of the day We are biopically focused on reducing violent crime, delivering historic reductions in crime across this country in partnership with our state and local law enforcement colleagues brothers and sisters and we're not gonna stop final thoughts Look, I just want to honor the memory of those who lost their lives on 9-11 so many brave men and women in law enforcement Firefighters EMTs innocent victims and certainly we have at least 30 FBI more than 30 FBI Employees who agents Professional staff who were dedicated that mission and are now in our wall of honor I just want to honor those memories and the legacies and everybody who served in those capacities in the wake of the greatest You know most significant and devastating terrorist attack in this nation's history and we will spend tomorrow honoring their memories
