We just watched the Nintendo Direct 4 September 2026. We've just given us a look at the next couple months of the Nintendo Switch 2's life and a little bit of Switch 1 dabbled in there here and there.

For now, let's begin with the topic of the show. Touch, touch, touch, touch, touch, touch. Nintendo Direct. We saw it. Now we're going to talk about it. Andy Cortez, let's start with you. I had a, I don't know, okay, Tim. I was, I think the things aside from Kirby at the very, very end there, which got me really stoked of Metroid ravenous was awesome. And also the overcooked devs game. And then that stage fright.

4:10Game with the same word twice. On Donda. That's the one. That's one. Plus there were some surprises in here that you know, cheered me up a bit and got me stoked. But for the most part, just yet another direct that doesn't speak to me. We see other people in the chat pop off whenever their favorite character from that one anime shows up in fatal fury and I get that. But unfortunately, I would say the pacing of this was awesome. Not a whole lot of interruption. We had that one moment where we're like, are we going to get a lot of like more Pikmin, style demos like that? And fortunately, no, I thought it was just really, really well paced. So for the content of it, I would say I give it like a six. But for the presentation, I liked it a lot. Just speed wise and the information they're getting across, a lot of dates, a lot of the, it was very efficient, I would say. So yeah, I had a solid time here. Greg, Ori, James Miller. Thank you, Tim, I think. I got a flat seven.

5:11I think it was good. Yeah, I think the pace was great. I don't think there was a lot of games for me that were like, wowing or standouts or oh my god, what crazy news. But a new Metroid game, solid showings for a bunch of other stuff. It's the usual I think where, what are we talking about? What are we judging? I'm judging it just based on both my own personal preferences and the content here. There's a lot of content here. If you have a switch, a lot of great reasons to keep your switch too charged, ready to go in the dock. Like I think they're serving a very specific audience of people who want that kind of thing. That montage that was great kept on going. I love that. And then yeah, to see new stuff and old installments updated things like, it's not one that blew my hair back. It's not one that I feel like, oh my god, I have to run out and do this whole thing right now. But like, I think a very solid one that I enjoyed throughout. I wasn't going, what the fuck's going on? Seven. Mikey. Yeah, I agree with Andy and Greg. I'm right there. I just stay flat good. This presentation was fine. Right? I think it was really carried by two major announcements, which of course is Metroid

6:11Ravenous and Kirby. Those will be the talking points of today. But Tim, you always bring it up. Dates, dates, dates, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo, the Nintendo Direct here nailed. Hey, for the rest of the year, you're getting a lot of games and great support from third party game, Earth, third party partnerships that we always talk about, right? Hey, my Nintendo Switch 2 needs to be backed up by the latest and greatest games. And this entire direct was nothing but, hey, here are the latest bangers that came out on all the other platforms. They're coming to you and Nintendo Switch and they're coming within this year. And then of course, we got the tease of both like I said, Kirby and Metroid, Metroid starting off January and February, I believe, or spring. So it's like, those are two just major wins for the Nintendo Switch and the platform. So I think it was good. I agree with Andy and Greg here. Like, the pacing of this was very well done. The montage went a little long, but it was a fun montage. A lot of major games speaking to me, but I think those two will carry this just fun. Plus, I thought this was great.

7:13I had a really good time when I looked through the amount of games that were talked about today, I think content wise, this was filled to the brim. Nintendo is funny. When we got to the Resident Evil section, I kind of had the fun analogy in my head of like, Nintendo being that parent that comes to school in the middle of the day and goes, hey, we got something that we're doing today. Like, I'm taking you out of school. We're going to the theme park. And in the way in which Nintendo loves to announce dates that are right there, you know what I mean? When you say Resident Evil is coming out next month and you're getting all of them, you have these games coming out in November. You have more games coming out in September. There's such a focus on the now. And this fall feels way more filled than it did before this direct. And I think there's something there that works for me with how they want to talk about their information. You know, they're not really giving us things that are that far ahead, which I think right now, I'm okay with. We've been getting a set of pace of big games. And when they do talk about their big games, they're talking about things like Metroid ravenous and Kirby and the world beyond. And both of those are really exciting. Kirby and the world, we're beyond I think is it really a fantastic step up for the Kirby franchise,

8:15especially when we're coming off of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Getting that slow step into, wait, no, we can go further with this. We can go big with this. We can have more exciting ideas with what we do with Kirby. For me is a really exciting thing. And I think presentationally this has been probably one of the best directs as far as pacing as far as packaging. I think the montage was done fantastically. Like, be able to sneak in things like gardens of the galaxy with the call it encore edition. It's like, whoa, I do not see that. I need to PR on that. So if you can do that, I'm on it. That's what I need. Yeah, like I think I got to say it's same name as Zelda. Yeah. Yeah. And like, I mean, November, fucking put an out sonic pico park a week before GTA 6. It's like, well, you found the one game I'm gonna make time for. And so yeah, I had a really good time with this direct. I'd probably say it's like a eight out of 10. Yeah, I am right there with you, bless. I absolutely loved this. I'm putting a score on it. Like, it's hard. I'd say eight just because a 10, a 9 and a 10. I'd reserve four like, oh my god, 3d Mario and smash and all that stuff. But I mean, I could not be happier personally. We're getting a follow up to Forgotten Land that looks incredible.

9:18So much bigger than I ever would have expected a sequel to that game being. And then we also got the StarCrossed Worlds update to Kirby last year for the Switch too, which gave me more of those more Mario 3D World style kind of obstacle course space levels. So to see it expand here and not be that I think is awesome and very, very unexpected. Metroid Ravenus lived up to any expectation I could have for it. You know, that was a rumor for the last couple months. And to see it happening and for it to be so close with a date. It's like, man, I don't know what else I could ask for. Like I have games that are major Nintendo games coming the next couple months from Ocarina of Time into Metroid and then Kirby. I'm like, yeah, those are going to be three absolute bangers that are so my shit. This whole trail looks great. I we know what this team's capable of because of Dread and they made something so technically awesome on the Switch one. This being on the Switch two, I can't wait to see how they push it.

10:18And in terms of third party support, I understand it for all of us at this table. It's like, we are not the audience. We're seeing a lot of games that we've seen before. We're seeing ports. But man, as somebody that is watched and cared about Nintendo Directs for their entire existence, the fact that we're getting all of these games as opposed to just all the things we used to get. And they're looking as good as they are. These are all handheld compatible games. Like that's crazy that we're able to get so much. And I understand people are like, oh, it's just old games, old games, old games. The more of these directs that happened in the early Switch two life, we're really getting caught up. And I think it's important to note that a lot of the games that the third party games are seeing in this direct, they're the third party games coming out next year everywhere. And the fact that they're on Switch two is major and that we've had so many so much evidence that it can work. These are not inferior ports. These are totally good playable versions of these games. That yeah, I do want to see the last handful of last gen games like the Resident Evil 234

11:19remakes getting here like that's going to be so awesome for so many new gamers. These games are selling very, very well on the Switch two. So yeah, of course I want to see crisis corporate union on the Switch two. Like that's just awesome. We're done that MK1, the Mortal Kombat one port territory at all anymore. And they keep on proving that. Yeah, Star Fox Adventures on NSO. Hell yes, I expected one day we would get it today's the day. That's awesome. The Witcher 3 remastered like I was saying. Like it coming there. It's like that's old game. It's a new game, but it's going to be on Switch two day one. And then really it's just like yeah, a lot of this stuff here, not for me. That's always going to be an intender directs. But yeah, Stage fright y'all mentioned looks great. And yeah, Mario Kart World's getting a very update was I don't even want to call it a bummer. It was just kind of like a whatever. Who cares? I'm going to play some knockout tours tonight. I'm excited for that. It's been a long time since I had a reason to boot that game up. But yeah, a ton of really cool stuff here.

12:20And yeah, Guardians of Galaxy encore edition. I want to know more because that's very cool. And I hope that game gets some level of second live. I imagine it'll also be on the other consoles as well. But yeah, I want to shout out. I'm surprised about how many things are for me in this direct. Like when I look through that center portion where we get on the dark grip stage fright and on day on day. I know any mention two of those, but like all three of those games. Those are the three kinds of titles that in any other Nintendo direct. They're just the weird ass like, oh man, who's going to play this kind of game? The one that you talked about before, the dinosaur. Tokyo Scramble. Tokyo Scramble. Where it's like, who is this for? I look at these games and I'm like, oh, on day on day looks kind of weird. But it's the kind of game that I want to try. There's something there. Stage fright, like we mentioned, seems really cool. And then on the dark grip coming from was Bluebird team. It's like, okay, well, I want to know what's over that. It's only playable on handheld. Is doing some weird shit. I my my interest is peaked on this one. In the first half, also this direct just containing these, not just third party games, but massive third party games.

13:21We're talking about Monster Hunter Wilds, Final Faces 7 Revelation, The Witcher 3 Remastered, Kid and Come Deliverance 2. And then you also have a game like Mecha, or Mecha, Camillion. That is more recent that's making the port. I don't know. I think as far as the third party inclusions here, I think they knocked out out of the park in my opinion. I think it's huge to have a game like Mecha, Camillion, to show like this massive game that this isn't an indie game that was huge two years ago or something. It's like you can a quick leap over. And that just speaks to a lot of like, not only their successes as a studio, but like we could put this on Switch 2 and be even, we could be even more big right now. And we don't have, and we can like, prioritize getting on there as quickly as possible. I think that says a lot about the state of like the third party console space here. Yeah, we don't see that often too, especially with these like hot flash in the pan-hit, so around steam. They're like when they get announced for the PlayStation or Xbox portage years later, it's like, well, that game's not hot right now, right? Like this coming in and tend to switch to that quickly. It's hot right now.

It ascended expansion coming in 2027. I think this is a great one speaking to what you're talking about, Tim. Where the Switch 2 is, what it is for so many different people, but more importantly, even if you want to sit here and roll your eyes at ports coming over, the fact that, all right, cool. But the massive expansion is coming as well, next year, right? Like, let's get Switch 2, all the games it needs to, and then let's drop the DLCs and expansions and stuff concurrently on those games, so that this really is a console that is in the same weight class as PlayStation 5, even though it might be in a different conversation for some people. Hey, you can get the content you want and be where you want. I'm not a huge fan of this opening. I thought it was a slow start to the opening. I didn't think it hits as hard as a couple other things. My question would be who would you put there first, then? I'm more of a show your team first, always. So it would be you all with ravenous. I think you come out with a ravenous or curb out.

21:28I'll always even pick men. I don't care. Like, okay, I think you always lead with like, I lead with my team and then we bring out the big guns. I just think this trailer in particular as well is missing the base, missing the big pop. I agree totally with you, Greg. I'm like, yeah, this is how you show that your system right now, especially in year one and year two, and then year three is like, hey, we're getting all the big games. You can buy this and believe that we're going to get those for you. But I just don't think you come out with a pretty mid showing of Monster Hunter Wilds here. Yeah, I don't have much to say on this one. I think it was a great opening either. Again, I think it is still that it's going to be impossible to serve every audience at an intended direct. But for us and you, the person watching or listening to games content, starting off with a bang of the game that was already out last year, everywhere is finally here. That is never I just don't think it's as a guy. I mean, then we saw like 19 trailers for it. Yeah. Yeah. It being Monster Hunter though, I think separates it a little bit. Because they're talking about a Japanese company. Yeah. You know, large Japanese audience that makes me want to say about it.

22:30Right. That's why the local supports there. Yeah. It is that idea of, okay, cool on the train with your friends. You can play. And that's the thing. Yeah, it's like a game that has such a legacy being handheld on 3DS, PSP and all that stuff. Yeah, PSP. Don't get twisted. I'm sorry. Okay. Yeah, it coming to a handheld platform. True. You're not wrong. Yeah, I think there's a reason why they wanted to start off with this specifically. Yeah, get it. Doesn't excite me, but I get it. Moving on to Final Fantasy 7, Revelation coming April 8th, 2026. And then the announcement that Crisis Core reunion is out today on the Switch 2. It was already on Switch 1 as well, but now there's a Switch 2 version. On that I'm sure there's no upgrade platform. You're going to have to buy it totally separately if you'd like. Just absolutely insane square. You got to figure that shit out. Final Fantasy 10-10-2, Mike. They put out Switch 2 edition. Saves from the Switch 1 edition, not even compatible. Oh, we're talking about that. That is a wild one. It's a full price. I do agree with you on that. But yeah, I mean, again, not news here, but the fact that one of the biggest games of 2027 is Dane Dake and Beyond the Switch 2 and Run Awesome.

23:31You know, it's like very, very big deal. Moving on then to Hyrule Warriors, Age of Clamity, Definitive Edition. As you were watching this even, and I'm not a big fan of these games, not Tom of the quality of them, just more. I don't play them. I mistook what this was. I thought this was the Switch 1 games getting ported here, but no, this seems to be just a definitive edition of the game that came out last year, right? No, I can't get you. Age of Clamity? What was the last one that you got to know? Maybe I also misunderstood it. I was warned this was two games ago. We should pay this out. Age of Clamity is the latest one? Yeah. Age of Clamity launched November 20th, 2020. Fuck. No, this is the OJ. It was only. Yeah, okay, okay. Age of Clamity is the next one. Okay, cool. What? Yeah. There we go then. Wait, so this isn't an updated version? Plagues tail. Focus leaks here. Innocent? Innocent. This is the one that came out after Breath of the Wild. Yeah, okay.

24:32You're right. Cool. That is actually cooler than I expected that. Yeah, I get in Switch 2 edition here on February 25th, 2027. To the age of imprisonment, come out on Switch 2. What am I thinking? It was a Switch 2. That was a Switch 2. Switch 2. Which is that's why I thought it was weird they're putting out a definitive version. But like, they're the game early for review. Yeah, remember it was on Switch 2. Yeah. Plagues with the Switch version can transfer existing. Saviator and purchase the Switch 2 version at a discount via the Nintendo eShop. Cool. More finishing off the Switch 1 games, making their way to to 2. Then we have a Metcha Chameleon out today. Mike, I mean, I am being anti just brought up, but I'm really impressed by this announcement. This is one of those why I became such a PC gamer over on Steam is I was playing on Xbox and PlayStation, looking at a lot of these early access titles, these fun party games that really slowly made their way over on to the consoles or never made it to the consoles.

25:34And when we talk about such a hit of this year that I've brought up many of times the team and I have played it before. 10 million copies sold within the first like 30 days this is a mega hit. It's an awesome party game with your friends. And it's such a simple idea. Hey, we're playing hide and seek. We're playing prop hunts, but you get to be an artist and paint yourself into the backgrounds of the of the world. So brilliant, really smart. I think it's less than $10. I'll be interested to see what the price point is when that pops up on the eShop. But if it's less than $10, this thing is going to absolutely explode on this platform. Next up, Greg, we have Pocopia. This is the update you've been waiting for. Yeah. Some bows. You get that. I'm not saying. I'm not saying. Go to Osir. You know, Andy, I did sushi during it. I thought part two of the expansion past might be a bit more exciting than just accessories, but it is in fact sunglasses bows. And other accessories you might care about. Good for them. Late 20. I won't be kicking on flat one. Probably I will wait for the third new stage that'll be the third part

26:37of the expansion past that is in New York. I don't think I ever talked to you about the water one. How'd you feel about that? I haven't had time. Okay. It's more, you know, the review grind we've been on, it just hasn't been a chance. I did have a terrifying conversation that I have to let go of, and it's okay with Ben. We're Ben and Ben a couple, maybe a month ago, and like I really want to play a Pocopia again. I was like, I'll put on your Switch or whatever. He's like, I don't want to play Deng and Rumpa. No, I'm trying to be by your Trench Co right now. No, it was instead, it was instead, and that's a dated reference. Be back. A dated reference. No, you know what I was going for. It's a mys conversation. No, instead, Ben was like, I, thanks for, he's like, I'm in play in Pocopia. I'm like, oh yeah, he's like, I've been mining. And I was like, oh cool. Like, what is he destroyed in my world? He's played my thing. So I'm going to come back for something. My talent is just, that's actually very good. Level, easy. Look at him mining, Mike. Did you know that Mike Tomlin, former Steelers coach, he's been working on a Minecraft world for the last 12 years. Stop it. And he's like, and I think I finally want to reveal it to everybody.

27:40That's awesome. I hope he does reveal it. I'm going to buy this at an interview recently. That's so weird, man. That's insane. That's insane. That's like one of the most things I've ever heard. But there is a world where we get four people together and I try to be a team against other people. Cool that this is now a feature. But yeah, if it's not this world, I don't know which one it is. Yeah, I really thought they were going to show off gyros. It's like Andy, we heard. That is coming on September 29th, 2026. And the bigger news for me, Star Fox Adventures comes to GameCube Classics today.

28:41That's pretty damn cool. I love this definitely one of the, I'd say like top 25 GameCube games. It's a rare Zelda-like Star Fox game. It started its life on the N64. It's a game called Dinosaur Planet. And they're just like, rare. You silly little bitches. No, we're going to, we need, we want this to have a little bit more Nintendo pizzazz. We're going to put it on our next console and add Star Fox. And the fur technology was popping off, man. The fur and the water. That's all you want to talk about here. This is coming December 3rd, 2026. It shows how much I don't know Zeno Blade. But the idea of them introducing a new hero at this point in time is like, what? Yeah, it's like, what do you think? Is that a new party member? Like, what type of game is this? I mean, I don't know what the fuck is happening in this mode.

43:58It's like, it's an RPG. It's a very traditional RPG. And so like, them adding a new character is weird because I do wonder how that happens in the story. But I maybe they're just for the specific mode. Yeah, but like, but if this mode just exists now, that it's like, if Mass Effect was like, hey, we're adding a new party. There's a new NPC to go. It's like, okay, so the chat saying that Shimmer, we've been waiting for. Shimmer's a Massive Deal. So shit, like, I got the understanding this is a brand new thing. Oh, so maybe this is a character that they know that's now playable in some way. That changes it. That I think makes a lot more sense. Okay. The Myths, butter is pretty sick. What is this the first time we've seen that style of mode in a Zeno Blade game? I believe so, yeah. Okay. I mean, this is just them being like, let's make Vampire Survivors. And you know what? And does that apply to your main story? Does this level up? The Vampire Survivors? Like, I had to guess. Because when I played Zeno Blade Chronicles, definitive edition, Nintendo Switch 2 edition, which is the accurate name of that game.

44:59It's the accurate name of that game. They have like a racing mode where if you press pause in the open world, you have like a button you can press and you just start fucking doing races. So I think it's something like that where it's like, here's an extra mini game that you can just activate wherever. That's not really going. Maybe it'll get you cosmetics and like currency or something, but it's not going to be core to the story. I was thinking of how cool it would be if we got a video game version of the intent of the Legend of Zelda movie. Like when we would get those awful ports back at like we had the cool Batman games, but then we had like the Batman, the movie. Batman games, Batman games. Like I would love to see a really awful studio. Just take that on. Stage fright from the makers of Overcooked comes an all new cooperative experience. You played every freaking game except for one. Like I get why that's happened just with the way things have released, but like, y'all don't know Wesker like that. Like it's just, it's just the guy. It's just the guy. You just show fun. You know of him. You know the sunglasses, but it's just like, that's just, that's so crazy. I know him from Marvel versus Capcom. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Like Fusion introduced the you being stocked in the X-Parasite and all that and then getting to Dread having you being chased by the Emmys and having to take those down. But with how Dread ended and what we're seeing here, it's like so sick to have her kind of be like a vampire almost needing to like suck the blood of these things to stay alive and keep going.

Now, I think the weirder thing for me is so much of the structure of Forgotten Land was very astrobot-ish, where every level kind of had its core gimmicks. And I wonder how they break up that rhythm with this open world where it's not like this zone of that space you're not only using. I mean, we didn't see any mouthful stuff here, right?
