'No deal yet' - US and China agree to framework for a trade deal ahead of Trump-Xi meeting

While no final trade agreement has been reached, the U.S. and China have agreed to a framework for negotiations ahead of the October 30, 2025, meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The framework, outlined by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, aims to temporarily ease trade hostilities and avert a further escalation of tariffs.
