I'm afraid to report that
poor Ed is ill, but I'll be back soon. But in the meantime, Darnish and I are here to discuss Manchester United, Neil Manchester City. One, have you calmed down? No, absolutely no. Have you? I mean, my phone has just been off the ringer because I look to speak to people about the decision and then I look for somebody new to speak to about the decision. I think that's why Ed's ill. I think he couldn't take it. I think the decision has sent him into illness. But I mean, there was football played somewhere in between the four and red card and the hard and gold that never should have been a goal. But in the football, I think it would quite drab as well, unfortunately. Yeah, I think for me, it's actually one of those games. I'm quite a quite a chill individual, but really? Yeah, I mean, I'm excitable, but I don't yeah, I don't I don't I don't keep things when you know I don't win. But this was one of those occasions where I found myself being pissed off with basically every fucking aspect of this game
of football pissed me the fuck off. Yeah. So I guess if we start at the beginning, what did you make of the team that went out there? I just it's just becoming clearer that there's two problems for me in the team. They haven't signed any potent fullbacks in the summer and the the one that was good last season who played 38 games in Luke Shaw probably won't play 38 games again. I got I got no problem with the the new midfield that we have and then the attack it lacks a focal point, I think. I don't know how he's going to change that because he's got a lot of players that want to come into the center of the pitch and not a lot of players that want to go in behind or be a focal point and the guy who was a focal point was on the bench. So yeah, I think those are my two big bugger blues with with with the line up dogoo, dallo. They're not very good attacking fullbacks and then or excuse or or or defensive fullbacks. Yes, I mean that too. I was trying to throw them a little
bit of a bone but yeah, they're not good attacking or defensively either. So I mean and then upfront against I think Ipswich hole and not Everton, they get to the opponents half quite well. It's just after that they just they don't really know what to do and it's because there isn't a guy in the middle of the pitch in the in the box. Sorry. So I'm thinking about this. How many football teams in the history of the world that were good have not had the center forward and I think there's Spain team that won the World Cup with 73 midfielders that Fabregas as the kind of nominal center forward but apart from that I couldn't think of one now. You might have a center forward who's more of a pivot than a goal scorer like Liverpool has with Saminho but even like Brazil 82 had Sejinho who was shit but they still picked a center forward because in order to have a football team you need someone whose job it is to occupy the center backs to be able to be a
reference point to Pidden defenders and the thing they really pissed me off about this is I think really it feels just like managerial stubbornness at this point because he plays sesco sesco scores and I'm not just talking about again sub-er at the weekend. He scores against Everton and he earns his place and we saw it last season as well he saved Carrick's arse on various occasions and I think Carrick has this idea of how he wants to play football that involves kind of all the purpose forwards more but the fact is is this is the squad he's got. Now I think that in Bumo and Kun you're a good Premier League players who can impact games against the best teams and they can impact games in the Champions League I think they will but they're not they're not whereas sesco is someone other cat and I think the raw materials there if they're properly harnessed and coached and supported with the right players around him I think this is a guy that could become a monster and I had the part of me that's like I think Carrick's going to do this
because this is what he wants thought he wouldn't play and then I had this other voice in my head saying but he kept Kun you're on for the full 90 against sub-er and and so I was hoping he was going to play I was hoping he was going to play sesco and then before the game in the interview he basically confirmed it was tactical he said this was what we wanted we this is what we wanted to do wanted to do something a bit different in this game and then you think where are the goals going to come from and it's not that we didn't have players without him you know out of score goal it's about getting good enough possession in key areas that having sesco in the team allows you to do and if you look at the way that we play the game it's sub-er sub-er a shit so I'm not talking about what the score was in that game it's about the structure of the team they're being someone in the middle of the pitch between the width of the posts they're being a penalty box presence they're being someone making runs to put in defenders away for the other players to do stuff and without sesco
there isn't really anyone to do that if so this season what Michael Carrick has been doing is basically the defense gives the balls to Tillamons and Mayu four or five players of the opposite of the opposing team press up to try and win the ball as this happens they move the move the ball quickly through the middle of the pitch to Kunya and Fernandez both dropping as you've just highlighted the problem with that is you've got two of our best attackers busy trying to get the ball from defense into attack after that you've got a boomer out wide and rush for out wide okay fine if you want to go for wide go out wide but the problem is then you don't have a presence in the middle of the pitch and against Sabah like you said we did have that but the the problem against City because I've rewatched the game back now oh my goodness how are you okay I'm not okay because I'm not okay I'm trying to use this as therapy but it's just it was watching the game back for 67
minutes they played against 10 men and there were too many players the three three players in the middle and boomer Fernandez and Kunya that were desperate to get the ball in the middle of the pitch in the center of the pitch to feed with their back to goal and then you go all right fine we'll go out wide then and you go well okay but Rashford is there and then Doggo tries to make the overlap a man city center back comes across shuts him down that's it that is it that is that is what happened until Sheshko came on and it kept happening because again City would push a winger back double up on the winger and then tell a center back okay just make sure you mark you mark the inside run the the overlap is miles better when Luke show is back but we all know that he can't he's not going to pay 40 50 games in a season it's been so clear since I don't know since he's basically signed this isn't the first time I think the characters been faced with hilariously a low block I think we might we're the only team in the world to get low blocked by man city but it's it's not the first time that he's come across a low block or it's not the first time
that we've come across a low block in I don't know 10 years since since ultra has been a charge and just not know how to get past them it felt a lot like they when they won this derby over the years through chaos right transitions pace directness and when the she was on the other foot when we're the ones who had the who had to have the ball to break another team down we found out how difficult it was yeah and I think also what I thought about city and their defense is that Gahee and Ruben Diaz they're not physical monsters they're not particularly big which felt like just another reason to get sesco at them and well actually felt happened in the game city started quite well united didn't but in the period sort of from about five minutes to the red card united were by quite significant distance the better team and I felt like we were going to score because what city I thought were trying to do I remember a phrase that Kevin DeBroiner used when someone went in that early stage of city when Guadilla was a manager and they asked him what position he played and he called himself a free eight and it felt like in that team say
a further denio plays a number six and then they had two free eights to broiler and silver and the problem with that team was that it was very hard to get the ball to exploit the fact they had those free eights against this city team that had earlier Anderson's a number six who's not really a number six he's not it's not the class of player the further denio was for some reason there was a clamor on television to suck him off as a man the match I can't say I saw it but I'm not saying I the shit game but it wasn't I'm not what I didn't I didn't think he was like I'm not saying they go and this guy's dominating me field I actually thinking from the time they're on the pitch I felt mainly into them and I thought they had a good control of the game yeah because Enzo Fernandez and Ron Cherky that they don't keep the ball as well you know I'd refined in that space behind them and they and then Quab and the man who starts growing into the game and something I've quite pleased that we've seen with him over the last few games is we've seen him seem start to hit a few long passes we've seen him pass in the ball forward much much more often things that we marked as areas for improvement for him is finding the ball
and long passes and forward passes and we've seen a bit more of that reasoning it feels like he's now hitting a level of performance I don't think he was brilliant yesterday but I think he was quite good it was all right and he's hitting a level of forwards now where the games aren't passing him by where which was something I felt was a problem even when he broke through I felt like the small space conjuring that was brilliant that would never the other ways have that but he needed to broaden the things he was good at and he and he has done I mean there was there was there was that also ridiculous ping from her and from literally from one side to the other yeah but I remember on about 20 minutes Rashford goes Rashford goes down the line and he crosses and I'm going fucking front post and there's no one that wants to hit the front post because there's no center forward and I don't understand what is meant to happen in that situation so you've got your two call a bit a double 10 or four two four s9s whatever the fuck you want to call them yeah
what is the point of working the ball wide and you've got a team's know that united want to build the play through the middle of the pitch so they force us out wide and then what we have when it goes that wide is we have wide players that don't want to cross Rashford and Bumo and fall backs that can't really cross Dorgon and Dallow and so what is the put how are we trying to score a goal and I find I say this a lot in the post-Furkey world in this years how what kind of goal the United China score and yesterday it wasn't really clear to me what that was and what ends up happening obviously is as soon as the red card happens the fallbacks they start so much the ball goes to the fallbacks and their delivery isn't good but even if it was them what because there's you need someone to make strikers rubs and Kurnya doesn't do it and it particularly pisses me off when it's Kurnya because he's tried to play this position he used to be a center forward and he wasn't good enough and now we're putting in there for what whereas when Bumo played
there we actually played quite well and we won we won most of the games that Bumo played center forward and I know that we don't have amad so I imagine and I don't know if this is true obviously but I imagine if amad was fit and Bumo would play through the middle and amad would play on the right I'd like to think so yeah it feels like if you have pace on the last line you don't have someone who couldn't give depth to the attack so you can stretch the play then you're limiting the way that you're able to attack you're limiting the kind of goal you're going to score and you're telling your position also that most of the players going to be in front of them and if I'm a center back I'm saying thank you very much do you think that Diaz and Gai wanted to defend Bruno and Kurnya or Cessko and Bruno I think Kurnya I think they wanted to defend Kurnya and Bruno a large problem that that they had as well I think in the rewatch was why were we good last year right because they had three or four players really close to one another quick one touch passes
and then he pressed though we found some space out of nowhere they couldn't do that yesterday because as soon it was fizzed into them you had six or seven players in one zone and then on top of that ends up Fernandez and Ellie Anderson were covering the defenders right in front of them so it's going to be tough for you to get a pass into Fernandez and Kurnya in the first place and it's going to be tough for them to find space to have quick one touches around the corner so City had us on lock for so for such a long time in the game I'm so surprised that it took him that long I think to bring Cessko on I think he came on with I don't know maybe 25 minutes left but at that point they weren't trying to do anything new so we we've spoke about how United were forced out wide we've spoke about how the middle was completely clogged this video is sponsored by Claude there's a folder on my desktop that's basically a crime scene of screenshots and press shots and b-roll and match stills and they're all dumped into one place
under stupid fire names like IMG4471 I've never sorted them out I barely ever touched them and I hate searching Google images all the time but this is and I really wanted to do proper cutaways in the videos more graphics more evidence on screen while we talk you've probably seen them in some of the shorter videos I do on YouTube so I handed the whole folder over to Claude and asked it to sort them mess out hundreds of images and now tagged by player by date by opponent there's match shots there's stadia there's old pictures of furgi and it took seconds to sort it out Claude is the AI for minds that don't stop it good enough it's my collaborator and it actually understands my workflow and thinks with me so whether your debugging code or strategizing your next business move or sawing out folders Claude extends to thinking to tackle the problems that really matters to you co-work gets on with a job on its own so you don't really have to spend time renaming JPEGs like I did once are you ready to have
an AI that can tackle real work try Claude co-work today Claude.ai slash NQAT that's Claude.ai slash NQAT would you like to finally talk about the big fat elephant in the room would you like would you like to talk about the goal that wasn't a goal? No no no no that's what did you think of the red card? yeah actually yeah and I was at the point to start there a bit of handbags really I know he kicks him first but the ball was still there when Bruno kicks him I know he kicks him but it's a sneaky little kick it's like a it's like a smart little I can I can I can picture an arsenal player doing that kick because that's not I don't think that's a kick enough to get a red card but because he's smart enough to kick him when the ball is still there after after that happens Fordon kicks out at him in like a Beckham-Sumione way and then and then he sells it he sells it well he sells it with a red card like you have to sell it right I've said this was so long these these players they're not too or smart right they're not like Arsenal's players they don't win on the floor or they don't
elongate the time Casamera had that a little bit but Fernandez is the only one that did that and he got Fordon sent off it could have it could have easily just been two yellows carry on lads I mean I think the wave I want football to be those two yellows yeah yeah it's two yellows I think the way that it seems to work is that provided the first defense isn't proper violent they tend to punish retaliation more heavily than the first defense so I'm not I mean as soon as it happened I felt I was going to go for that and that Bruno wouldn't I don't think what Bruno I don't I mean I know Mareska said that should have been two reds I don't I think you'd have a hard time saying that Bruno should have got a red for that that's not a red yeah but as soon as it happened I've said in my head Gretzesco now and I knew he wouldn't obviously and it would just always seem like a panic if you did it but you could see that which way the game was going to go and part of this is me thinking
oh my goodness if we lose like this that's going to be very very bad yeah but because at that point you can see that the way that United been finding space was not going to be available to them and then it was almost going to not seem like city had 10 men because they go 441 so they're not and 441 narrow so that enables them to actually have more control over midfield than they've had before and it gives them the ability to spring it felt like it felt like it was so obvious that that was going to happen and not that long afterwards we're seeing the herons fucking smatch on from about 30 yards and it's just like yeah this is like this is what this is what it is today that I can see that this is and when the ball go and I felt like so I was reminded again I say there's quite a lot because it's so basic but it's so telling this group of players I'm not just this group of players almost every group of players post Fergie wept ruined when he was on Monday night football once ruin said that if you know I went down to 10 then Fergie wouldn't tell
them how reorganize he'd leave it to the players on the pitch and obviously this is the opposition going down to 10 but it didn't feel like there was the authority or intelligence on the pitch to say well how what's going to change and how are we going to do this because I've got written here in my notes that so many balls versus set defense going to Dallar and Dorgu useless and one thing I think should have happened is that they need to try and find a way if that's how it's going to be if you're going to be forced out wide and you don't really have one-on-one wingers or you're not able to work your wide players one-on-one then you've got to get to them and out there because he killed at least cross and obviously the problem is partly who the fucking you're going to cross to which is and well which is one of the reasons it was so aggravating why when sesco came on he went off when he signed to them and one of the things that made me think good is that I felt like him crossing for sesco was going to be fucking nasty and actually they've barely been on the
pitch together they were against sub-up but I think I think they're I think they're made to what places are everton as well but they barely swap places together and as I say I'm coming back to this all the time what kind of goal are you trying to score and if you've got someone like sesco one of the goals you should be trying to score is crossheader and we've seen him do it we saw him do it last week we saw him do it we saw him do it last season crossheader and who is the best crosser of the board that we have I think it's probably teat them ends I mean and boom I can do it as well coming inside that we've hardly seen because I thought he I thought him to the back post would also be a source of goals but we've not really seen much of that either but and then obviously Rashford it's the post in the first half and Manu it's the post in the second half so although we are having it united for an absolute performance of staggering brainlessness and ineptitude they did get quite close to scoring twice and that's twice you talk about the goal that city scores sure but I mean I don't I still just don't think that in those minutes when they were down to 10 that's enough and then of course I start that's it's not
that it's my I know Manu hit the post and Rashford hit the post the free kick in the shop from distance that period after the second half I think just before the goal that was never a goal that never in a million years ago that was when they built up a slight head of steam and for that Manu goal that comes across because Dallar instead of instead of shunting the cross over over everybody's head and out for a throw he actually takes the time to pass it inside to Bruno Bruno comes back gives it to Manu they also just when when they tried to have big space when they had big space and had the ball in transition or whatever I remember Dallar having a really awful touch like the worst touch I've ever seen and he almost fell over himself I remember Bruno being close to goal he didn't shoot he didn't cross he just shunted it over the bar Kunya and boom on some occasions try to show when he didn't need to it felt like they wanted to play the Darby in the way that they've won the Darby over the years which is
when we have big space attack fast but that was what the tactics told them that was that was how not not picking a center forward told them that they were going to try and play the game in that way the decision making the point is the decision making was so bad on some occasions when they finally had that space and they couldn't break them down when they had more of the ball it just led to the performance that we had and one of one of my problems with it is that it's that we we didn't look like we were knew what to do when they had the ball they didn't look like they they had ninkling of what was going to happen and although they actually were probably playing some of their best football in the match before the goal came where they did they did also stop so I'd say from sort of the red card from from sort of about five to seven minutes till the red card united with the better team and then from the start the second half until the goal united were again the better team so obviously you deserve to win because they scored one goal united scored no goals
annexed that that like I'm I can accept that but in terms the balance of play the way that it was being rated on the television for me was not totally in keeping with what happened it wasn't like city were creating chance after chance or peppering the united goal they'd say they'd say the smarter game than united did but I didn't really feel like they dominated it or controlled it no I mean didn't they're more secure on the ball than what we are because they're a possession based team but we I think we're trying to learn how to become a more possession based team and we're finding it quite difficult there was also just an infuriating 14 minutes I think after they went one day up where they just elongated the time so well it was so annoying they kept the ball in the corner Donna Donna rumour took ages on every single goal kick Michael Oliver wasn't interested at that at that point we were desperate to score another goal and they just they just knew that and they had something to hold and they became really annoying I mean I think pro the the other
side of that is we gave them the opportunity to do it with fucking super fouls and it makes me it really really grinds my gears that and we saw that in ex-Gelsis yesterday where united would and you're cut don't foul don't foul you said in your head or shout now don't foul don't rush for dog who dallow just giving away the ball and allowing them to then waste another minute or two in the repissage that follows and on which point five minutes injury time for that is an absolute nonsense I don't get how they got talking about the actual goal part of me is saying well you know it's sort of deserved it because Martina has had the opportunity to kick racism out of football and put ends a for the others in the head and shows not to no I know you're joking but that's that's the other part of this if he fouled mark if he fouled ends all there I think it would have been overturned genuinely if you fouled ends though and they gave a penalty they would have known he was offside and then it would have been overturned that's just how ridiculous that that
whole I mean now that we're getting onto it that is just it is so outrageous and so bad as to how you haven't seen that and then on top you've got var on top of it to replay it to see it everybody in the world everybody watching that home in the stadium was like surely Enzo is offside first and he's impacting Martinez with the header because he is Martinez pauses because he doesn't want to kick him in the head yeah and then on top of that never made a good point finally on sky he said LaBorne's is impacted as well because he has the first maker reaction if Enzo connects with the header and then the ball caused the hall and after and he has to shift over it's just it's so outrageous I have no idea how bad didn't pick that up I genuinely have no idea how they didn't pick that up I think also it's not just that not getting a decision right it's incorrectly correcting a correct decision yes and that is a mind-boggling level of incompetence I mean they've
also sort of been almost let down by the players in the sense that that was the incident that decided the game and it's quite rare that happens where you see a decision that bad and that is the difference between the teams because it wasn't like you know either under the caution city we're going to score at some point and when Gary Neville saying the only reason there won't be any controversy is if city score again it's like no it doesn't matter if city score again because everything that happens post that is a product of that now I don't I'm not blaming it for United's defeat you want to be very clear about this United add 90 plus five to make that to make that render that thing irrelevant so I'm not I'm not saying that's why United lost a game United played out there areses and the manager played out his arson particular on this one and that's why United lost a game but for var to take a correct decision and one is so obviously a correct decision and then make it incorrect is it's quite unusual that we see that usually it's
why like it will be a discussion and generally the apologies will come for demonstrably incorrect decisions they're not one they're ones the vals got wrong but it's quite rare that I think is whether takes the decision correct on pitch decision totally fucks it out and because it's it's it's so obvious that it's this the wrong decision and it was obvious at the beginning and it was there was no point in the discussion when what what's actually going on television they're they're saying what are they looking at yeah they had no idea that I think that was the party because I think parliament looks offside and caricatured he said that he felt that was a bit sus as well and it's hard to know because they've done away with the lines on the pitch now it's hard to know if it's the angle that makes it like Harlem is offside because it does look like Harlem is offside they said he wasn't fair enough I prepared to accept that Harlem wasn't but to hook up someone trying to score with the diving header the effects yeah that means to defend the stocks and the keeper has to also bear it in mind and so it it it would be interesting
to hear the officials working I would say and I don't think we're going to get that but what were they thinking in order to diss at in order to shut in order to overturn the on pitch decision without even calling the ref to the to the advocate himself yeah ultimately whether Fernandez was trying to get the ball whether he affects anything that's a judgment call and so why wasn't the referee because automated offside we'll tell you if it's offside or not fine that's a decision for Vulcan deal without but why wasn't the decision referred back to the referee to the comments television screen to say do you or do you not think that he's trying to play the ball where because that's the judgment call why I'm making that judgment call I don't even think this is going to sound controversial I don't even think Harlem is on site in the first place even that looks really sus he looks good yarn and a half on I think they've done that later in gun well actually know he's on side because they don't draw lines anymore because it's automated but
I just it's so sus this this it's so so dodgy I think we should spend the entirety of the season going well irregardless of if we've lost drawn now or whatever has happened in the season who cares because that happened to us it just I also maybe this is a bad thing to get annoyed at and Michael Carrick being calm in the press conferences has its has its merits because the last guy was like a toddler throwing a tantrum every single press conference saying many night of the worst club he's a bad manager blah blah Michael Carrick should have gone out on a limb in the same way me Kla Teta did in his press conferences in the minute make the minute they asked our Teta question about the game he didn't care and he directed it back towards what he felt was an egregious penalty decision and why is he doing it we know why we know what we know exactly why he's doing it because he's he's doing it because he even gives a shit about that penalty in the game they won he's doing it to get an advantage in the next game Michael Carrick should have done the exact same thing
I'll tell you literally it felt like someone had asked him for his kidney that's how fuming he was Carrick should have done the exact same thing I know he was a little bit cutting in the press conference but he should have spent his entire media talking about that awful offside decision before the season even kicks off soccer fans are already making predictions who wins the league who qualifies for Europe and who's lifting the trophy at seasons end on kalshi america's number one prediction market platform you're trading against peers in a live market meaning there's no house and as the probability changes you can buy in and out of your position for a limited time download the kalshi app and use code cup 26 to get $10 when you trade 10 k a l s h i kalshi trade the beautiful game 18 plus only restrictions and eligibility requirements apply event contract trading and vals risk and may not be suitable for all investors prices values and available markets may differ from those mentioned for more information see kalshi dot com slash regulatory
I don't want him doing that to the players or to himself like I need him to be honest with himself and honest with the players players of that now so that leadership they that quality and they they they can be better than that they didn't they didn't get themselves together when the red card happened and say this is for how we're going to do it now in fairness that did kind of change a half time but again after the goal and I mean now I'm thinking about it again I'm thinking maybe I'm maybe I'm being harsh in blaming the players for what happens after the goal because straight after the goal we make a change tealamans come to goes off and with tealamans what we lose is it's whether you're someone you can deliver the ball into the box for more than that we use a tempo setter so mate it's it's pointless having striker on if you've got no way of getting them the ball and what also happens is a consequence of that is Bruno goes further away from the goal you're taking on most likely route two goal further away from it so to me like what you have to do there is you have to decide which of kuneura and then boomer you're taking off
one of them goes off so you've still got Bruno near the goal because then you've got mainly mainly tealamans they're able to get the ball forward and then you've got a good selection of players that are able to get the ball into the box deliver some quality because at that point you're thinking it's going to be quite difficult to pass our way through city here through the middle of the pitch is going to like one of the ways we're ready to score is crosses into the box and knock down a second ball ahead of wherever the fuck it is but then in order to do that you need you to get the ball to those wide areas and you need people that can cross now the two people that can cross in that team the two best crosses probably tealamans and brunelans but you've got tealamans isn't going to cross shit from the bench and brunelans is now playing deeper in midfield so you're also taking that possibility away from him and the mess that we saw is a consequence that that that change it was so so desperately poor that change and it's and it was one of those
that is so obvious when he did it that it was desperately poor because brunelan is not a creator can he is not even a good game he's got no real support from the left back outside him and that he's got dog who's making tracks down that way he's only doing the thing so again what kind of goal are we trying to score it's just after all that when you know when the dust is cleared and the the smoke kind of fades off after this derby in the next few days because we'll have fullam coming up on the Saturday or this Sunday I'm not sure now we got we got bright in the Wednesday bright non-wens they and then fullam heading in and then we have an international break a long international break it just I can't get past it's been a very shaky start it's been a really really shaky start we won one match in four games the manager is trying to do something new with with the attack and it's half working but it has its downsides a lot of the players don't the some of them have took on a while to get up to match fitness but I think because they stay at the World Cup quite late
a lot of them and a lot of them played a lot of games that were 90 plus minutes they sat the other there's not that many that look inform it's just with this club it's so sort of to wrestle the downward spiral once it starts right it's a really emotional club when everything is going well and everything's going great I think the players feed into that too and it just feels like they can beat anybody when it when it's bad it's so so bad so it's not it's not it's not over by any stretch of the imagination it's really really early just I just didn't think heading into the international break when we've played whole Ipswich Everton and City where you would be leaving with four points from four and even then at the end so we have a chance and because and this is just it was one there was the reason you don't play Bruno there Bruno gets on the board you can see he's so fucking careful to pick the pass it's like you can sort of almost see the cogs in his brain turning he slows it down because he knows that there's going to be a pass that he can punch through
and it was I hated this finish so much he just he just wellied it it just felt like he wellied it yeah I hated it because it was a panic and I hate it was it was what I kind of in my mind called the cacu finish where you hit hard with the side of your foot and hope that the keeper doesn't save it there's no there's no real thought behind it there's no finesse now where where and Bumo was he is able to if he passes that either side of Donna rumour it's a go if you take a little bit more time or he had he had more time but I understand it's the last minute of the game you don't to think that you've got time in a penituary box in the last minute of a d'arby when you need a goal for a draw I get it but proper proper good finishes they still like he had spaces he had for which he had to aim were gigantic it's he's not he's not trying it a postage stamp he's not he's not trying it the king in the face he has if he rolls it either side of
Donna rumour it's a goal and instead he gives him an opportunity like he doesn't he doesn't have to power it he doesn't have to hit a corner he doesn't have to hit a top corner he just has to take he just has to show some composure and that's it and he couldn't and ultimately I think can Bumo is a good player but this is one of my problems actually with we're going to sort the attack this the air and we're going to sort the midfield this year and then next year we're going to sort the defense what happens if you don't sort them in the way that you're hoping to and I I've said this on this podcast before I wanted the right wing of this summer because I know that Bumo is not good enough and I know that and I'm not saying he's not a good player and he won't do some good things for us you already has he's done some excellent things for us but particularly because of Cesco and the kind of center forward that he is and he's someone if you're asking me which of them I think is a better player Cesco and Bumo obviously they're different things but what I mean by that is in the considering them in the context of the game who do I think is
nearer to the best in the world Cesco and Bumo I don't think it's clear so I think Cesco has the has the ability to go on and become one of the best I don't think and Bumo does and say yeah I wanted the right wing of this summer I mean I knew we would never get one obviously but that's what happened like not every trip not every chance was going to work and Bumo could be one that works nicely but he's a squad player and a proper in a proper team not really in the soul so yeah I don't I mean I've never signed him I said but he's a player I've always quite liked but never covered it right I think he's a good player but I've never thought go and get that guy and it's partly also because and and maybe I hope he proves me wrong but his first touch is not good enough and he's a numbers guy ultimately he's not create he's not he's not gonna he's not gonna take his man on the outside so with all strike with all the attackers even those to do they sort of come down to their numbers in the end you're going to get enough goals and assists and I don't think and Bumo is and I particularly don't think he is with Cesco as the center forward if the
center forward is a different kind of center forward like a Firminio style center forward or Sebastian Aler or whatever someone who's a pivot who's gonna lay balls off then in that circumstance and Bumo is the style of why the attack you would want but I want Bruno's supply and tea them and supply and Cesco and I want wide players and you don't want the whole strategy in a team to be dependent on Cesco because what happens if he's off form or what happens if he's out for the happens if he's injured but I don't I don't see him Bumo as someone who can carry in I had to a title whereas maybe Cesco could and so yeah and that that finish I mean I yeah I can't accept finishing like that Donish he's here in the moment I wonder if Cesco would have scored that I feel like those those three one of them or two of them needs to really explode this season it can't just I think last I think last season they sort of made up for each other's
deficiencies and it was like okay well you're gonna do it this week and I'll be okay this week you'll do it I'll do it next week you'll be okay this week and I think two of them out of the three needs to really really explode Kunia's had I think one of the worst starts in I've seen in in a in a money night shirt this this season he is just he looks very rusty he his first touches not there he can't seem to dribble anymore he's making really bad decisions in attacks we so when when you have two out of the three one of them isn't playing the other one is bad and the other one can't can't carry the burden on his shoulders it's it becomes bad it's just with with him Bumo I think I would like him to start centrally I think I would like his pace so who plays on the right without ad injured I don't know play play Kunia there but play him ostensibly there like as in tell him to come in the middle then if he wants to that was actually
I think where he was it is best for the headshade but but that's that's because then we we don't have another option there but basically play I don't know play Kunia or Bruno on the right but don't actually play them on the right play them ostensibly on the right and do what you're currently doing now because I do think that it's important and good that that he that carikas worked on getting the ball from defense into attack through the middle of the pitch not a lot of teams in the lead do that at all it's just after that you have to figure it out what's your first 11 everyone fit what what's your first 11 sure maguire Martinez probably dallo because there's nobody else Tillamans, Minu, Kunia, Fernandez and boomer, Trishko, it's a no belabor oh wait Rashford oh god at the minute okay Rashford and take Kunia out because I think for me like I think I hope it will improve when belabor comes and I think what it will do is it will in the belabor when belabor's fit it will enable us to create artificially create more transition
moments because he'll he's someone you can go hunting for the ball and win it and he also sort of gives you an option of if you were to play at left back of inverting to make an extra man in your field or or giving some wit but another which you said McGuire which to me brings me to another problem in this team and we saw it that's the last season the way that we won games as we defend the box well and we were really good on the count of more of this but there's been more to it now obviously them like we started we moved the ball forward much better than we had on dharma in but teams were able to get us constantly one of the reasons they're able to do that was Casamiro was obviously had no legs but another reason is that the gap the spacing's not right because we have two center backs who can't run now if we're planning to try and win the league next season this is what the ball of told us we need to know which if either of heaven and you or euro are good it is not possible i'm saying it now to win the league with McGuire and Martinez because the
spaces are going to be too big you can't play front foot football the kind of football the character wants to play controlling games because what happens every time when you lose it is you are not difficult to get at because you're not able to condense to play and i don't i don't know which which of the two it is because on the one because Martinez you can maybe you can tolerate the lack of physicality because he's so good it's such a good passer and sin heaven heaven is actually a pretty good passer as well so good on the ball travels well with the ball euro has great recovery pace those long legs his passing i think can it be better than than we seen although he's been better at their center back then right center back i guess euro currently is the one it was euro the played against suba and i knew that he wasn't going to bring euro in against city but it does feel like carik his hamstrang he's hamstrang partly by circumstance where he he has to pick a team to get results because otherwise he's going to get fired but the team he's picking to get results is not the team that you can really take on he needs to get and this is not
even me having to go a heron's particularly it's not personal it's just i said it when we bought him that the kind of football you want to play you can't play with him because he cut his two slow and i don't think i don't think that more more now than i did then because i couldn't have thought him more than and the only way that we can get now we could just go out by someone again in summer and they decide that they're just going to try and get results this season again and they think that martin has them requires the best way of doing that but if that is true then we saw send euro and heaven aren't going to be good enough and maybe maybe they're not but i would at this point i think that we do need that carrot needs to take a view on which one is and he needs to pick them and needs to keep picking them because at least then we've got the recovery pace and it that enables us to play higher up the pitch and playing higher up the pitch you will enable us to box the podiums and win the ball higher because one of the problems we have is it's difficult to sustain pressure because the opposition tolkie gets the ball partly is because our
pressing isn't good but one of the reasons the pressing isn't good is because the rest defense isn't good because we don't have defenders that can run that can cover big spaces and it'll change a little bit when belabric when belabric is fit but i think the and i thought this before the city game as well he needs to make a decision is it heaven is it euro and whichever one it is unless the answer is really it's not either and they're both shit and that's what character really thinks if that isn't what he thinks he needs to pick one and needs to pick him and he needs to pick him and he needs to stay with it i think they'll get more minutes this season i think the other thing as well is the two i think i would have them in there because number one this is a tiny team now and herds as if i'm calling him herds now it's as a tiny team now and herds wins a lot of aerial doles okay there'll be nobody else in that team that wins the aerial doles to head corner away anymore with cassamero in there i get it i mean i hope the sessco could actually add something in that aspect possibly but he can't do everything right we're looking at the sessco like he's this unicorn i'm not i'm just saying that he's someone who is good in the air like i did your jog
but was brilliant in his own box at winning headers and i'm saying you've got a bloke who we've got a relatively small team you've got a bloke who's good in the air i mean i actually think that euro is more of a problem in this regard than heaven euro euro euro is not good i don't think heavens crap in the air i think euro might be crap in the air yeah i mean well i think like again we'll see when they get more minutes but migwayas needed i think for his aerial doles for heading the ball away and he's also needed for me because when teams play with martina's sorry when we play with martina's and somebody else that isn't migwaya what teams tend to do is they go okay fine just press the life out of martina's ever since did that ever since did that because they want him a guaya to have the ball sure but then what happened when migwaya had the ball he could still punch it through and he's still capable of that that's why we that's why we got the ball a lot don't mean he runs so i mean he acts as well he serves speed and serve thought he might have been but with them to in you've got bought two people who can pass the ball from the defense into the attack
and that's why we got more space in the everton game we didn't do much with the ball when we were close to everton's box but at least we got there in the first place i totally i totally get that why why we would pick migwaya i i'm not i'm not saying i don't understand migwayas relative strengths relative doing a lot of fucking lifting there it's that in order to be a good team we're not trying to i mean i hate to say it but we're not trying to win the league this season we're trying to win the league next season we're season after whatever this is a step on the way migwaya is not part that the migwaya is not going to be there at the end of the journey if the journey indeed ever ends migwaya will not be part of it he will not this you will not win the mid-migwaya and so again it is that balance between getting results now so that carrot keeps his jobs the team keeps winning bills confidence but if if if if he's decided if the manager's decided that you're in heaven ain't it then okay i think for now i think for now he's probably decided that it then you've got to make a decision on that point because having migwaya in is costing us
and it's not about whether he makes a mistake or not it's the kind of football that we're trying to play is not possible to play with this defense where do we go from here then we've covered a lot of points coming out or where are you now and i need you well we're in that situation where every game looks fucking nails because partly because we're under pressure but also partly because we're not very good and so we could easily lose a home to brighten on Wednesday night we usually do these at home to brighten i don't know how many times we played them in the league cup i think i think we played them in the league cup last season are they affect up? 19 19 19 22 we played them in the league couple when they were where they were in the 92 on to when they turn up in that where they have the shorts they look like Tesco bags because they've got the ear and white stripes but they've missed it they've also got the ear and white stripes on the shorts i mean i think in this game i think it's one where we we must see sesco
because he needs another game to get fit i wonder if we might also see andre santa or some mountain in that game and those two actually seem to be on the same wavelength in preseason a lot of the good stuff we played in preseason until the midang game basically or second half of the lead skater actually was there i'm not i'm looking at the league cup game here it's in but it's almost like every game is important now very early into the season trying to avoid crisis and then i was thinking is mounts actually mount had can play on the right he can he again he can come maybe central and maybe you can play it on your further up the page and then if you play mount on the right let's say even whether it's in boom i was sesco there you've got you get the you get the app possession stuff from mount you get the opportunity to create to create the box to to to dominate in midfield the problem that ultimately you have is there's no one able to go outside them and do anything yeah we don't even really have it in the youth team it's not like we could say well we've got a 19 year old kid in the youth team there's a modern fallback who we could who we can bring in really
i think there's enough games in the calendar now for everybody to get minutes and for him to find out what what might work and what is going to work he just now we're just coming off a really terrible way of losing and Manchester Derby we need to go to bright and win and we need to go we need to get past that full-on game and win they give you so much space full-on okay please utilize it well yeah i mean again like we should beat for them but you can see i kind of feel with full-on they've got talented players who probably aren't cut out quite yet to be to carry a team in the Premier League but i can 100% see them not saying they will but i can very easily see them enjoying the space they get against united because we give every fucking team space and that comes back much more to the lack of athleticism and defense and to anything else every team gets space against us every team gets the opportunity to try and do their thing and i can see firm with the technical players that they imported from Madrid's Castilla quite enjoying the
opportunity is to do that that we're going to give them and we will give them them and Josh King but i mean look that it's a long long season he's a very good player it's a long season i agree and they're the teams the teams that we expect to challenge for the top five aren't getting away from us that's true so that is that is a plus just got to continue i think just yourself off remove yourself from whatever situations this was and how bad it was and how controversial and contentious it was lots of kicking and screaming in this valley but it is done now go again on the next of the next game day and and see what we have we don't have options in that regard this is not one will be we'll be playing back but again like there is there is a team in there that that can be good and the question really for me is whether the manager is going to continue to be stubborn or he's going to accept the fact for and i'm not saying that we bring sesco in and suddenly all the ills are cured but sesco in makes us look much more like a football team that can succeed
because we have someone in that position who's doing the things someone in that position will do even on a bad day yeah well see i mean i don't i don't even know if he's fit yet to start 90 minutes otherwise maybe he'd be starting carry said yesterday we want to we want to do things in a different way something like that i was listening to that aspect carefully is he going to say he's not fit he's not ready to go 90 didn't he did not say that so i mean yes ultimately i guess we will see what happens on Wednesday night but until then this is no question about that please do annihilate the like button if you're watching on youtube give us a review on apple please subscribe those of you who support our compatriot and we appreciate you very much that's what enables us ultimately to keep doing this so those of you who aren't supporting us on patreon if that is something you consider if you listen to us please do that any no sound too small and i think Ed will send you a photo of himself or some other gift should you should you sponsor some patreon
but please we really appreciate that i'm Daniel that was darnished thank you very much and we'll see you next time ah
