Kansas mom Britagne Miller spent weeks hospitalized after a suspected spider bite led to surgery, serious infections and other severe complications. She says several spiders crawled on her while sitting around a campfire, and days later one bite became swollen and extremely painful. Doctors haven't confirmed what species bit her. Apparently radioactive superpowers were not included.

What's the deadliest animal where you live? A 2026 state-by-state report produces some surprising answers. Snakes lead the nation, topping the list in 14 states, while bears lead eight. Moose, deer, coyotes, dogs, sharks, alligators, spiders, mosquitoes and even Portuguese man o' wars make appearances. Apparently Jaws has been getting way too much publicity.
